Trolls overall has a Big problem with the idea of Holding people accountable for their actions.
here's a numbered list of examples of what I'm talking about.
Cloud Guy in the Tv shows not only because he Harasses Branch most of the time with no consequences but also because Poppy goes out of her way to defend him even when his actions cause trouble for many other people.
like when he flooded the village just out of spite because Branch wouldn't do what he wanted anymore and not to mention how even when she found out that he also Harassed other people from each of the Troll Tribes she still took his side and got mad at them when they stood up for themselves and "" upset Cloud Guy "".
which even if it hadn't been revealed that it was all an act by him just to mess with them it would still make Poppy look bad since she Refused to do anything about his Blatant Bullying yet got mad at his victims when they stood up for themselves.
and not to mention made excuses for why his behaviour wasn't so bad making out like he only Harassed them because he was trying to help them which is just all kinds of wrong.
2. a lesser example but still a bad example imo is in the Trollstopia episode where Dante uses Branch as his muse and he stalks him breaks into his home and disrupts his daily Jobs which he does.
and when he goes to Poppy for help she makes out like Dante's behaviour is reasonable and tells Branch to suck it up.
and after Branch does something to get Dante to back off Poppy then gets mad at him when Dante isn't able to come up with any music ideas like that's somehow Branch's problem?
Dante needed help but Rather than ask for it he just went ahead and took it by invading someone's privacy.
and breaching their trust and then Poppy made out like Branch was wrong for setting down Boundaries with him which is just iffy to be honest feels like this episode was written by Joe Goldberg or something lol.
3. and there's Creek as I've said in the past I love him lol but I do agree that his Return in TBGO could have been done better where he could have had a little arc of slowly earning back people's trust maybe over the span of a few episodes.
4. some people like to go on about the Bergens being forgiven too easily and I agree to an extent but given how Gristle Jr couldn't exactly punish the majority of the population I don't think they really had much choice in this matter.
I feel the only problem is them acting all chummy with the rest of the Bergens like letting them off for killing their species is one thing but acting like friends with them is a whole other like staying friends with Bridget and Gristle is fine given their history and the fact that they were too young to have eaten any Trolls prior to the escape.
but acting friendly with the rest of them feels a tad insensitive like in the opening of TBT we see Branch and Poppy acting all chummy with Random Bergens and Branch even High fives a couple of them and I was just thinking to myself
"" dude they probably ate someone's loved ones in the past how would you feel if you saw other Trolls giving Chef a friendly High five? ""
5. anyway moving on there's Barb who enslaved countless people destroyed their homes and tried to wipe out all other kinds of music and she was let off in the end.
its not even like she had a last minute change of heart she literally just got beaten and that's the only reason why her plan didn't succeed and afterwards she was just instantly forgiven.
6. Bro zone I've already talked about them in Depth in the past but yeah unreliable selfish insensitive and at worst cruel not to mention they never truly change their ways.
they keep on doing the same crappy behaviour and they don't show that much remorse for their past actions yet they still get forgiven in the end Despite everything.
because yaaaay family is amazing even if they Treat you like shit over and over again.
the films message feels like it was written by a toxic parent to please other toxic parents to be honest which judging by how this film won over general audiences I'd say it worked like a Treat lol.
so yeah Despite my love for it Trolls overall as a franchise has a serous problem with actually Holding people accountable for their crappy actions and Behaviours I feel the only exception is Veneer as even tho his turn at the end felt Rushed and out of nowhere imo.
I was pleasantly surprised that the movie didn't just let him off the Hook and he still got arrested and accepted the punishment for his crimes in the end.
I feel the same thing should have happened with Barb given everything she did.
anyway if you've made it to the end of my post thank you you have the patience of a saint lol anyway what do you think about this aspect of the franchise?

Doug Walker Jumpscare
My routine for the last full week has just been work, sleep, and slowly force myself through all of Channel Awesome's movies. More accurately 2 of those days were spent watching Kickassia and Suburban Knights, and the last 5 have been me procrastinating finishing To Boldly Flee, because god, that movie has got to be one of the single most unbearable things I have ever watched. I watched them all in the form of a Twitch stream with commentary and The 9/11 Brothers (don't worry about it.) and I don't think I could've gotten through any of those films without those 2 silly little ducks. To be fair, Suburban Knights, and Kickassia weren't the worst, like I found some enjoyment from those 2, especially Kickassia that movie was just genuinely fun, but I could not tell you a single thing about To Boldly Flee other than that every scene was really awkward in a non-funny way.
Doug Walker is like, actually so unfunny that he integer underflows into being the funniest person ever entirely on his own, every single scene involving him (which was almost all of them) became extremely entertaining after a certain point. He has 3 jokes, and 2 tones of voice and he acts exactly the same in every situation, he always feels like he is simultaneously trying way too hard and also has no clue what he's doing acting. It was so hard to tell when a scene was supposed to be serious, or if it was him being self-aware and making fun of himself, like some of those scenes have to be ironic, they can't not be, but they're filmed and acted in the exact same way as the actually serious scenes it's such a mess. Like it sounds like I'm just making fun of him at this point, which I am I think anyone who's ever talked about these movies inevitably does because it's really easy to do, however I did genuinely find these movies (with the exception of To Boldly Flee, which to be fair was probably just because I watched all of these movies back to back and that was not a good idea) to be really fun to watch, and it's very clear that Doug had actual genuine passion in making these and probably really enjoyed filming them (even if the rest of the crew very clearly did not).
This has been like the least productive week ever, I have done NOTHING all because I refused to let myself do anything until I finished these films in their entirety. Tbh I do this a lot, I will very frequently start something and refuse to move onto anything else until that thing is complete, no matter how unimportant it is, it's kind of a problem ngl lol. The worst part is whenever I do just say fuck it and move on without finishing something, it will eat away at me for an indefinite amount of time afterwards, 2 years ago I played Persona 4, got to the final boss then just stopped, like I didn't even attempt the fight I just stopped despite enjoying the game and being at the very end, and that has haunted me ever since.
I don't know where to put this because I suck at structuring things, but like, I just want to bring up a few of my favorite moments (all of them are from Kickassia my brain completely turned off for the other 2 I don't remember shit). The scene where Cinema Snob gets exiled from Kickassia and everyone just awkwardly stares at him as he walks away is easily the best part of any of these movies, it's filmed so weirdly, and it goes on for way too long, like it feels like just a full minute of cutting back and forth between him walking off into the desert, and everyone else on the other side of a fence waving. The point where they just straight up play a random clip from Board James completely out of nowhere was also peak fiction, I love how that small clip of someone else's Youtube show is filmed so significantly better than this full length movie. Another really odd thing is that Doug is just like, obsessed with Ma-Ti from Captain Planet, like he's a recurring character in all 3 of his films, like why him, it just feels so random? I literally don't remember a single other moment from any of these films they left so little impact I actually remember more about the 3 minute Board James cameo than anything else why did I waste my week doing this it wasn't even that funny.

i would love some book recs! ig i’m not really sure what i want to focus on most? i’d like to try both but my natural instinct is to gravitate more towards TV
Not the same anon, but please do share those scriptwriting books. I have always considered myself a terrible writer (aka doubt my every written word to the point that I have memories of my parents taking away my eraser as a kid while I did my homework due to my obsessive self editing), so I am game to always read about how to be better at writing stuff. (Ps, this took 10 minutes to write xD)
---
Tumblr media
The two on the left are general, basic screenwriting format and structure books. Most writers swear by them. You'll find Robert's book on almost every screenwriter's bookshelf. It's considered by most (if not all) in the industry as THE seminal book on screenwriting. I personally never even finished it. That book is MASSIVE. There's a ton of stuff I don't agree with, I think it gets too into the weeds on shit it doesn't have too, and it tries to dictate archaic rules that don't need to exist BUT it's part of that "learn the foundations before you break the rules" thing that I think newbies to everything should abide by. I'd been writing for over a decade by the time I got around to reading this so when I stopped I simply knew it wasn't for me because I already had my process and it worked. It could be great for people that are starting out but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please, the moment anyone starts telling you "your story needs to do something by X page" or "your scenes can only be 2 pages long" tune that shit out. It's why I *fucking loathe* Save The Cat. I think it might have been the worst thing that ever happened to screenwriting lol. If you're telling a good story no one gives a fuck. Story and character first. Those inane rules are part of the shitty, formulaic things that a lot of screenwriters who read these books follow and why most films end up looking and sounding the same. Fuck the "your hero has to be on his journey by page 10 or its a terrible script". I can guarantee you not one of the feature or pilot scripts I've sold in the last 2-2.5 years have followed ANY of these rules. Good writing and unique voice. That's what people are looking for. That's not to say your protagonist should still be fucking around and we don't know what the movie is about by page 50, but you know what I mean. Just don't worry about if they tell you "X needs to happen by page 10" and it's page 15 and it hasn't. No one is going to kill you for it. You're fine. I promise. No one cares if your scene is 5 pages long as long as it's a solid 5 pages that make sense within the story and moves it forward.
The other four are the only books I think you need to read to start writing TV. I have a shit ton of books on TV and also gave up on all of them. These are the only ones I finished and 3/4 of them are SUPER quick reads. You can probably get through those three in an afternoon. That's because writing a pilot is both the easiest and the hardest thing you can do. These books are breaking down the quite simple basics and your writing skills will take over from there. A pilot (and subsequently selling the series) is ultimately about how strong your story, characters, and series concept are because structure wise it's very very straightforward.
You'll have to decide how you prefer to break your pilots and what structure you find easiest to naturally follow. Every writer has their own bag of tricks and trying to imitate someone else's will almost always lead to failure. These are not one size fits all things. It never is with creative shit. Here's what works for me. For hour longs I do teaser and five acts when I'm writing then I take out all the act breaks when I'm done since I write for streamers not broadcast or cable. Having the act breaks there when I'm writing helps keep track of what is happening where/when. Only reason why they're there and why I take them out. I don't want people focusing on them/when they happen when they're reading. For half hours I literally don't do acts. At all. Whatsoever. That's part of the reason why I say follow your gut. I just write 30-40 pages worth of good story and that's it. It particularly helps me because - again - I write for streamers not for broadcast so I don't have to worry about commercial breaks. But if you're trying to write broadcast/cable comedy stuff then it's different and you should absolutely learn half hour acts.
Anywhooooooo, hope any of that rambling helped. That's what works for me and it's a process that has taken me years to have on lock. Each of you should find your own groove.

Fish Upon The Sky, A Covid Marathon Part 2
This show is stupid. Might as well binging it. Leggo.
EPISODE 9
I'm about to say Janhae is seriously a scene stealer in last episode. But I couldn't add another gif. So here's the new post.
Tumblr media
9 minutes into the episode then bam opening credit. Record breaking 👏👏👏.
Ladies and gentleman the slowmo is back!!!
Janhae is seriously crazy and I love it.
Wah this episode is the worst man. The secondhand embarassment, the idiocy, what else... oh my god this is hands down by far the most embarassing thing that I've watched since the day I was born. What in the hell happened in the writer's room? Did they high on drugs or what? I just couldn't fathom anything like wow.
But I'm willing to finish this. I'm willing to go down on this ride. At least things happen. Not like Still 2gether where nothing ever happened. That, I can grateful on. And beautiful Pond graces up my screen.
Tumblr media
EPISODE 10
Well...well here we are. After so much struggles. So much embarassment. We're here.
Let's admit guys, Mork was created by a female who get so much dissapointment from male and then she decides to write a man of her dream. JittiRain, your brain just....
Tumblr media
Duean's friends is a gift that keeps giving. Well done boys!!!!
I do wonder though if they date in this episode, what will happen on the cursed-episode 11? It gives me unsettling feeling. There's just something that I don't see. Or somehow the writers just going to drop some femme fatale like 2gether out of nowhere?
They're so awkward and me likey! It's rare to see a from-now-on-we're-dating this awkward. They're in college, it's supposed to be less grandeur and more about savouring each other's feelings. I prefer something this simple rather than just horny-writings all over your face.
EPISODE 11
So who's going to be the driving force of the conflict? Let's find out.
You know up until this point, I conclude that actually this show is not that bad. I still be able to sit through, even I had to skip some parts. It's stupid and yes, you have to set your expectation at the minimum. It's mediocre at its best and it's fine. Like I said at the beginning, sometimes we just need something stupid for getting through quarantine.
So it's the brother!!!! I know Duean is trying to get protective towards his brother. And what's with the secrecy anyway? They came from 2 different faculties, honestly is not that hard to hide your relationship if you're not from the same faculty ah. Show just makes itself complicated by its own.
I laugh my ass of of this. What the heck.
Tumblr media
Pond is so handsome wearing black shirt, by the way. Pond wearing glasses even hotter. Shit. So when will Never Let Me Go start shooting ah?
Tumblr media
Pi's insecurity will kill him somehow. I thought it will about the brother yeah turns out it always been with Pi. And this is why people keep getting frustated. The character is lack of progress. You just can suddenly expect to be good only on the last episode. It doesn't make any sense. You should show your audiences how your character grow.
EPISODE 12
I'm going to skip some parts. Pi's insecurity will affect me somehow. It's too stupis not to deal with this in earlier episodes. Why the writers jammed it in the last episode.
Oh god.
Sad!!!! With lots of exclamation point.
This is a stupid show. Because there are parts in which stupid and screenwriter didn't even bother to fix its rotten core. Character. Before you write your story, setting up your character is something must-do. The fact I was so frustating each time main characters seemed making stupid decisions. And once again downgrade the female character in order to bring conflict on the last minute is the dumbest decision ever.
Although, yes, Phuwin and Pond have a great chemistry and thoughfully playing with heart but chemistry alone wouldn't save this series from destruction.
So my conclusion is BRING ON NEVER LET ME GO NOW, OKAY? P' Jojo I count on you, eh.
Tumblr media
If they're going to shoot it with wider lens or they go with film instead of digital, I'll be ao happy. It is called cinematic experience and it is beyond your imagination.

'birds of prey': a cinematic masterpiece
Tumblr media
It's been a little over a year since Birds of Prey came out, a couple of months since I watched in on a whim, and I'm still not over this film.
Too many men people get pressed whenever you say you like this movie. "It's objectively bad," they say. "It's campy. It's too divergent from the canon. It's SJW propaganda."
Who gives a fuck, Richard? Who gives a single flying fuck?
I'll preface this by saying, my knowledge of the DCU is flimsy, at best. I've watched a couple of movies. My mum used to watch Smallville. I watched the pilot episode of Gotham. And I know enough about it to get the few references sprinkled in other media. But I draw a complete blank when it comes to the comics. So the canon of the comics had no effect on my enjoyment of the movie. Which I did. A lot.
I walked in blind when I watched Birds of Prey for the first time. I was unaware of the controversy surrounding it, and the only reason I even gave it the time of day was because I was bored.
I watched Suicide Squad circa 2016, and positively abhorred it- the only good thing about it was the soundtrack (the best songs are always wasted on the worst movies. Case in point: Twilight). And the not-so-casual misogyny was just... Yikes.
And then, we got Birds of Prey.
Since watching the film, I did a bit of research (see: Googling 'birds of prey movie reviews' and clicking on the first few results that popped up). The response was mixed- which honestly came as a surprise, since I thought it was great, and mine is the only opinion that holds weight.
I've read and watched a lot of those reviews. I watched the CinemaSins video. I watched the CinemaWins video, because CinemaSins has taken a major nosedive since I first started watching them.
Were all the negative reviews not-so-subtly indicative of the (predominantly male) critics' misogyny? I dunno; how did they talk about similar male-centered action films? I don't think it's fair to scream, "SEXIST!" just because someone didn't like the movie. Critics hated Venom (which was admittedly pretty meh. I still enjoyed it, though), but it was still pretty well-received by viewers.
I saw one review say that Birds of Prey was 'for the birds'... I'll let you unpack that yourself.
And yet, though I try to keep an open mind, I find it unfathomable how anyone can dislike Birds of Prey.
One of my favorite parts about the movie was the female gaze present throughout its entirety. I've seen people bring up the obvious change in Harley's costume- which I'm a bit iffy about, to be honest. Don't get me wrong- I love her choppy bangs and fun pigtails and the whole fluffy top thing she's got going on, but a whole lot of the critique towards her getup in Suicide Squad comes off a tad too slut-shamey (that isn't a word? Well, it is now).
Her outfit wasn't the issue. It's how she was framed.
In Suicide Squad, we get loads of shots of men leering at Harley, and a little too much emphasis on her breasts and arse in almost every scene she's in. As opposed to Birds of Prey, where Harley's still sexy (I'm seriously concerned for the straight men who found Harley unattractive in this film... You good, Pete?), but we focus on her face instead.
That part where Harley gives Canary a hair tie in the middle of a fight scene? Brilliant.
The characters have depth (a lot of reviews disagree with me. Well, what do I know? I am but a lowly STEM student). One of my favorites was Canary (and not just because I found her insanely attractive)- I love, love, love her arc in the film.
I've seen people complain that the villain didn't really get all villainy until towards the end of the film; which, if Sionis had to put on the mask for you to finally see him as the bad guy, then you've clearly missed most of the film. He's literally introduced while he's peeling the skin off of someone's face. Not to mention that one particular scene at the club- I won't go into too much detail, because it could be triggering to a lot of people- but it chilled me to the bone.
Following up with the villains: "All the men are bad guys," they say. "The whole film is feminist propaganda," they say.
And me posting this on International Women's Day is a bit on-the-nose, I'll admit, but this particular critique bothers me. Because those men aren't unrealistic. They aren't caricatures of men in the real world. We all know men just like them. A lot of them hit a little too close to home for me.
I've seen people complain that women touting the film as feminist turned them off from it- which, I dunno about you, but seems problematic to me on so many levels. Sure, not everything has to have a political agenda, but it's hardly like Harley & Co. scream, "GIRL POWER!" every three minutes.
(Also: it's funny how way more people get mad about poorly executed feminism than actual issues a lot of women in the world face, but that's a topic for another day.)
The diversity was just- wow. Getting not only one but FOUR Asian characters with lines? Hollywood, am I dreaming? The LGBTQ+ representation (not going into Sionis and Zsasz being queer coded)? Holy shit, yes! Maybe I'm getting too excited about this- Hollywood's a lot kinder to us minorities as of late- but it still fills me with joy whenever I see people like me onscreen.
Another complaint that springs up with regards to Birds of Prey is the skewed order in which Harley narrates the events. Which is kind of one of her defining traits- she's an unreliable narrator. And she makes it pretty obvious (this video explains it better than I can). The cartooned beginning was engaging, as corny as some of it was (loved the style, too).
The fight scenes were thrilling to watch. Not a single minute passed by where I was bored (my eyes usually glaze over during prolonged action scenes in films, which did not happen in this case). The comedy was well-timed and bold; the cartoonishness added to its charm.
And this is probably not even significant, but I adored the color scheme. I loved the bright, shocking colors; the emphasis on the pinks, reds and blacks.
And, finally, how could I go without mentioning the soundtrack? It was divine- I listen to the Birds of Prey album on Spotify almost every day; Lonely Gun and Experiment On Me are among my most-played songs, and the rest of the music is just as delightful.
In conclusion: go watch Birds of Prey if you haven't already. It's the closest thing to a spiritual experience I had last year.

FIVE: Warning Signs, Colour Change And The Text
SAN, KQ HEADQUARTERS
Sunday 26 October 2025, 03:25
What was he doing? He was practically slamming his own head against a wall numerous times. Why was it now that he turned into a teenager again, stumbling over himself about a girl? San felt like he was sixteen again, about to tell the first person he liked that he actually liked them. He felt weird.
He felt old, thinking about his sixteen-year-old self, nine years ago. He released a sigh from his lips, looking up at his room’s ceiling. He was practically hanging off the edge of his sofa bed (because when he was younger, he was too edgy for a standard bed and now he was older he was too lazy and sentimental to get rid of it) as he contemplated actually sending the text or not.
With a groan as he sat up, rubbing his face with a hand as his other hand played around with his phone. He was twenty-five now. He shouldn’t be so worked up about a stupid text. He’d done it so many (not that many) times before so why was he concerned over this?
Then he remembered who exactly he would be texting, and he groaned again, flopping back on the bed.
He’d be texting Pyo Kyungri. The girl whose laptop he had placed a bug on not even twenty-four hours ago. The girl who had sent Hongjoong into a small frenzy after she had found two of their gang members as quickly as she did – or maybe he was in a frenzy because she found them on a police file? – and they had spent the next few hours investigating her. When he and Yeosang had heard she was a hacker – right from the source herself – their little plan was more than needed.
San had thanked his lucky stars that the events unfolded as they did, it had made his job so much easier – to plant the bug while Kyungri had excused herself to the bathroom and her friend, whose name he hadn’t actually learnt yet, had been called by her boss to teach Yeosang how to work a coffee machine.
It had been easy. And now San stared his phone, her number already saved, the text already typed and ready to be sent. San couldn’t help himself, he was curious by nature. It didn’t help that she was, in fact, as pretty as her friend had said.
“She’s pretty too, don’t you think? Do you think she’s pretty?” She rested her head in her palms, her gaze lever leaving him. “She’s single too, there’d be no competition to win her over or anything.” San hadn’t meant to let his imagination get the best of him – “Pretty, smart and single. She’s a triple threat right, everything you could need right. Do you like pretty smart girls? Pretty, smart girls? I reckon you’d look great together! I mean, you’re just sat next to each other, and I’m already being attacked by the visuals! Think of the children!” – but the only reason he had blushed was that he had indeed let his imagination get the best of him. He assumed that was one of the reasons why he was so caught up in his head.
San could feel himself blushing as he thought back to the words of the orange-haired girl but shook his head to get rid of the feeling like he was physically shaking the blush from his cheeks. He didn’t know why he was blushing. Blushing! Of all things!
It was times like these that he would have gone to Wooyoung, or Mingi, to try and figure out exactly where his head was. His members, his best friends, always knew how to help him clear his mind – especially when his curiosity got the best of him and created a confusing, jumbled mess of his thoughts. But Wooyoung had been away since last night, given the task of the arms deal, so he hadn’t even been home to be told about Kyungri and her impressive hacker skills, and Mingi was most likely asleep. San wouldn’t want to wake sleep-deprived younger man anyway – even if he did want to, he wouldn’t. Waking Mingi up was like antagonising a bear or something. San wasn’t looking to get mauled because he couldn’t work up the courage to text a girl.
So, San did what he did best. He let himself be curious and finally (after twenty minutes) sent the damn text.
TO: Hacker Girl: Hey there, your overzealous orange-haired friend gave me your number, and I just got out of work so I thought it would be the best time to text in case I forgot in the morning and made the worst mistake of my life – gotta give Jaehyeon something to talk about, don’t we? 😉

THE LOFT
Sunday 26 October 2025, 03:27
“We are so incredibly screwed.”
Chaeyoung was sat on the floor, crossed legs dressed in a set of plaid pyjamas, a towel around her neck as she ate chicken while Kyungri was dying her hair. Kyungri, who had just had her first load of bleach put on, was also in a pair of pyjamas – these ones checked – hummed in agreement.
Gongmyung had passed out a half-hour ago, letting the girls get on with their hair knowing it would take a while. The girls had also decided to scrub through the recordings from their hidden cameras to gather as much information as possible, projecting the video onto the blank wall in front of them.
“So, so extremely screwed.”
“We’ll be fine, stay still,” Kyungri mumbled, pulling the dark brown dye through freshly bleached locks.
“We were seen, held conversation with and even taunted three of the most prolific members of NCT. They know my face! I got up in their faces!”
“Calm down, we weren’t talking to them for more than ten minutes tops. The only features they would really remember are your bright orange hair and your sickly-sweet voice. Which is not your usual voice and we are curren, tly changing your hair.”
“You weren’t looking at them Ri.” Chaeyoung’s voice was calmer now, the video paused on the faces of the three gang members they had spoken to just hours ago. “That red-haired one, Yuta, he hardly said anything. He was just looking at me. He’s definitely got my face committed to memory or something.”
“We don’t have to worry about it now okay, don’t get worked up about it today,” Kyungri told her softly, wanting to comfort her but not wanting to dismiss her fears either. Chaeyoung went to nod but refrained from moving her head, letting out a little hum in agreement as she un-paused the video. They were watching her footage.
She gasped a little, reaching to pause the video again, moving her body suddenly. Kyungri managed not to spill any hair dye when she did so. “Look!” Chaeyoung exclaimed, pointing. “Isn’t that Mr Lover boy from your fun escapade in X-Clusive?”
When Kyungri looked up, she too let out a gasp. Because Chaeyoung was right.
The image was slightly blurry, but his form was distinctive: silver hair, low cut shirt, an array of ear piercings.
“Oh shit.”
“Do you think he saw you?”
“I don’t know!”
“What are you going to do if he did?”
“Well, I'm currently bleaching my hair blonde so.”
The girls settled into silence once again as Kyungri tied up Chaeyoung’s hair and slipped off the gloves.
“Kyungri…” Chaeyoung started, voice low in volume. Kyungri hummed for her to continue, making her way to the bin, getting a piece of chicken on her way back. “Just, have a look at your laptop real quick.” Kyungri’s expression twisted to one of confusion, opening her mouth to ask why but stopping herself as soon as she spotted the serious look in Chaeyoung’s eyes. “I think it may need to be put on charge or something.”
Kyungri made her way over to the desk where her laptop was sat, right where she and Gongmyung had left it to carry out a longer hack. She bit into her piece of chicken as she lent down to take a look at it. Her chewing motion stopped for only a second as she noticed that the webcam light was on, directly recording anything it saw. She didn’t acknowledge it, nodding to herself and looking back to Chaeyoung, “yeah, I think I’m gonna let it sleep for a while.” She said, slamming the lid closed.
Once the lid was closed that the webcam was no longer filming them, Kyungri brought a finger to her lips when Chaeyoung opened her mouth to speak. She then motioned for her to wake Gongmyung up. They couldn’t make themselves any more suspicious, and they couldn’t be sure if the person hacked into her laptop hadn’t separately hacked into the laptop’s microphone. “How did it get this low?”
Chaeyoung did as instructed, shaking Gongmyung awake – “Where even is your charger?” – as Kyungri practically ran to her room to get a whiteboard and pen. She was back in the room in under a minute writing furiously on her whiteboard.
WE’VE BEEN BUGGED.
“It might be in the kitchen, can you check?” Kyungri asked, keeping up with the little act she and Chaeyoung had started. Chaeyoung indeed went to the kitchen, but not for the charger (because the laptop had been connected to the entire time) but for another one of Kyungri’s laptops.
Gongmyung opened his eyes with a groan, his words cut off by Kyungri’s hand before he could get them out. She held up the whiteboard for him to read, shouting back to Chaeyoung in the kitchen, “Can you grab me a coke or something while you're there?”
Chaeyoung came back with an empty glass,  – “Here you go, one glass of coke and one laptop charger!” – swapping over the other laptop for the whiteboard. While Kyungri made sure all the files from the closed laptop were stored on the hard drive of the new laptop, Chaeyoung started writing on the whiteboard.
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS?
Kyungri closed the new laptop and nodded.
Chaeyoung dropped the glass, the sound of it almost echoing through the loft. “Oh shit!”
Kyungri had picked up the old laptop and promptly hit it against the side of the wooden table as hard as she could and then proceeded to snap it in half to the best of her ability before letting it drop to the floor to become a new floor mat.
The three of them shred a glance, not wanting to speak in case it wasn’t just the laptop that had been hacked into. Gongmyung gently took the whiteboard from Chaeyoung’s grip.
I’LL GO RUN A SEARCH ON THE SERVERS.
Both girls simply nodded at the man, watching as he left to go downstairs before making their own way to the bathroom. As if the morning wasn’t crazy enough, Kyungri’s phone let out the familiar chime indicating a new text.
FROM: Unknown Number: Hey there, your overzealous orange-haired friend gave me your number, and I just got out of work so I thought it would be the best time to text in case I forgot in the morning and made the worst mistake of my life – gotta give Jaehyeon something to talk about, don’t we? 😉
FROM: Unknown Number: Uh, it’s San btw
Chaeyoung took one look at the text and let out a laugh, so loud, and powerful Kyungri was almost worried about her organs.
“Of course! Perfect timing MISTER SHADY BUT SURPRISINGLY HOT TATTOOIST!” Chaeyoung shouted at the phone.
“Are you… okay?” Kyungri asked tentatively.
Chaeyoung looked up at her with puppy-dog eyes that made her look like a child instead of an adult. “I think the fumes are getting to me. We should probably wash your bleach out now.”
“But what about the…” Kyungri motioned to her phone and then vaguely around the room.
Chaeyoung simply shrugged. “There isn’t anything electronic in the bathroom, it’s a safe haven.” She giggled, eyes widening at the sudden revelation before she grabbed Kyungri’s wrist and pulled her to the bathroom. “Plus it’s like almost four in the morning, he can’t expect you to reply instantly, let him think you’re sleeping.”
“But I’ve opened it, he’ll see that I’ve read it.”
“It’s your fault for putting read receipts on then.”
Kyungri grimaced a little but nodded in agreement anyway for Chaeyoung was correct, as per usual. “Help me!” She shined like a child, almost jumping up and down on the spot. She wasn’t sure why she was so worked up about it. It was just a text, she’d texted people before.
“Just reply.” Chaeyoung deadpanned, “But do it after I wash your hair out, it’ll burn your hair off if you leave it too long.”
“That’s a myth, and you know it,” Kyungri replied but knelt down to bend over into the shower anyway. It took just over fifteen minutes to get everything out, and when Kyungri straightened up, she was appreciative she could finally stretch her back again.
“I am so unbelievably grateful my mother is a hairdresser,” Chaeyoung mumbled, grabbing the pile of discarded foil strips and throwing them in the bathroom bin. “It’s always a good thing to know how to properly bleach someone’s hair. You look great, I don’t even think you’ll need a second coat.”
“I bless the world for your mother.”
“We still have to tone it though, get the orange ends out for good.”
“You’re good to me, but I thought we were cutting it?”
“Oh yeah!” Chaeyoung smiled, playfully flicking Kyungri’s own hair into her face. “We’ll still tone it anyway.”
A knock on the door started both girls a little. Chaeyoung let out a shallow laugh as Kyungri called out a small “come in,” watching as Gongmyung’s head popped around the door.
“They accessed one of the servers, I managed to lock them out, but whoever it was most likely knows where we are now.”
“Oh shit. We have to get out then. Like out of Seoul. Like out of Korea.” Chaeyoung rambled, getting louder as she continued. Kyungri placed a hand over her mouth, rubbing her other hand up and down Chaeyoung’s forearm in order to calm the younger girl down.
“We don’t have to leave Korea, we don’t even know who it was.”
“All the more reason to leave the country! What if it was NCT? Or ATZ? We’re gonna get shot in our sleep!”
Kyungri looked back up at Gongmyung to help her reassure a now crying Chaeyoung, but she was met with a serious and solemn expression. “It would be best if you probably weren’t in the country anymore.” He spoke slowly, moving more into the bathroom and closing the door behind him. “I can lead them away to another city, but if you took them overseas, they’ll be baffled for sure. It wouldn’t be more than a couple of days.” He concluded, taking out his phone to look at the next flights out of Seoul.
“We can’t just leave the country! We all have actual jobs to do, you know!”
“I’m your boss, think of it as a job.”
Kyungri had to admit, Gongmyung had a point there. Her eyes flickered back to Chaeyoung. “She has two other jobs, though.”
Chaeyoung gently removed Kyungri’s hand from her mouth. “Working at the hairdressers with my mum isn’t a real job –”
“You get paid for it.”
“– and my boss at the café can’t deny me the two weeks of paid leave I have built up!”
“We can’t leave the country!”
“Why not? It would both be safer for us and would scramble their was of getting to us!”
Kyungri was at a loss for words. Why couldn’t they leave the country for a few days? She shrugged to herself. “I’ll let my aunt know I have a long job and won’t be home for a couple of weeks then.”
Chaeyoung squealed.
“How’s Bora Bora sound?” Gongmyung asked, “the plane leaves in twenty hours, you can be done in under twenty hours, right?”
“I can have us done in two!” Chaeyoung grinned. “Just need a couple more minutes for my hair dye, and then we’re cutting Ri’s hair, but I can have bags packed for a couple of days in Bora Bora done in an hour!”
“Don’t rush yourself, get it done and get some sleep. I’ll buy you guys breakfast later.” Gongmyung smiled, purchasing tickets for Bora Bora there and then. “We need to be at the airport four hours before departure so maybe rush a little.” He said, promptly leaving.
They were going to Bora Bora.
“This is exciting! You might as well tell San you’re leaving the country! That’s a good way to start a conversation!” Chaeyoung winked before switching the shower on again to wash out her hair dye.
TO: Jaehyeon’s Crush: Sorry for the late reply! I’m just a little busy trying to get everything together before I can head for the airport hehe ^.^
Kyungri practically slapped herself in the face after the text was sent. Hehe? What the fuck was that? She was so incredibly fucked.
TO: Jaehyeon’s Crush: I might not be available in a while, so apologies in advance!
Things were getting worse.
TO: Jaehyeon’s Crush: but wow you finished late then!
That was better.
“Hey!” Chaeyoung shouted from under the water. “Stop texting your tattooist boyfriend and be a good person and help me with my hair!”
Kyungri shook her head with a smile before locking her phone, putting it on the floor (subsequently the big mistake of the day) before making her way to Chaeyoung who let go of the shower hose and left them in a drenched bathroom.
Her phone was going to need some rice, that was for sure.

Chapter 2 - The long way home
You had been moving from one side to another in bed trying to fall asleep but it was impossible with so many things in your head; Your mother had called you saying that she would go to the city and expect to see you, your friend Charlotte had been hospitalized in an accident, you had a nightmare and he was still in your head. "Such a face like that was hard to forget" you had told yourself, sitting on the bed and carving your eyes, you looked at the table and it was 3:54 in the morning, impossible to go back to sleep so you got up and went to the bathroom .
The water was cold which was lucky and maybe it helped you to sleep, your hands went down your breasts taking them a little "I think some pleasure wouldn't be bad, I am a very...lonely woman" you thought when you kept lowering your hand until get to your pussy where you gave some massages and even with your thumb you gave him in circles. You heard the door of the other room slamming shut causing you to leave what you were doing and your heart starting to beat too fast.
"Shit," you whispered, taking the towel to get out of the bathroom.
You stayed in the living room until the clock struck 5:59 am, you opened the door of your room looking for your clothes and some shoes, you started by putting on a normal shirt and some long skirt. You made your breakfast when the same door slammed again "¿who could it be?" You had been asking to yourself and making a list; Mrs.Caine was too old, young Erin lived upstairs, the guard was downstairs and some others who didn't even come to they apartment. You had finished doing your makeup and now you were leaving the apartment, giving a light kiss on the cheek to the guard and entering your car.
The radio announced heavy rain for the afternoon, you thought that the best idea would be to spend watching television and getting fat but you had to go to work and maybe there you would see that beautiful man who had taken your breath away. You came to the studio, taking your bag and shaking your skirt, the watching how too many people were on the set in a circle, more than normal.
"Hey, what's happening?" You asked a girl by your side.
"Some guys are fighting, security is coming" she told you to return to what she was doing; record the fight in Instragram.
You evaded the fight and entered the set, the director was talking to some people "better not to disturb" you thought and you went to change.
"Good morning" You greet a new woman who was doing makeup.
"Good morning" you gave her a smile and dropped your bag on a chair.
You sat in front of the mirror, your hands fixing up your hair and you let out a sigh while waiting for the woman to arrive with you. You looked at your fingers, they were somewhat scraped and you had some drops of dried blood "What happened to me when I was sleeping?" You had many problems when you were little, you used to tear your arms when anxiety dominated you, you did it even when you were sleeping but you never believed that That old habit would come back.
"I'm sorry for the delay," the woman said, standing behind you, taking the brush to comb. "Everything is alright?"
"Everything it's fine"
Of course you kept asking, was everything okay? Did you ever want this life for you? It was what you most yearned for in life and you wanted to continue with this, it was what made a person feel alive and maybe now you can have a small role or a small job but that is how we all start and we will keep going until we have everything we dreamed, dreams can be fulfilled with dedication and now you sounded like your mother which you missed.
"We finished, the changing rooms are over there" she pointed to a door on your right.
"Thank you very much"
You were wearing a normal white shirt and shorts since the scene would be filmed in a pool where you would share a scene with the protagonist. You fixed your hair for the last time in the big mirror in the dressing room, taking a big breath as you started to walk to the door with all the attitude of the world and a huge smile on your face. Just coming out of the room he was back there, Bill was talking to one of the producers in the show, he was wearing a white shirt and some nice pants, his long hair was what you liked most and the small strand that fell from his face could make any woman crazy.
You went quickly to the room again with your back on the door breathing agitated "Come on Y/N, you're not a teenager anymore" You came out and tried to surround him but he walked right in that direction crashing with you.
"I'm sorry" he put his hands on your shoulders helping you not to fall.
"It's okay, I didn't see where I was going" you laugh trying to hide your nerves.
"Y/N right?"
"Bill right?" You joked with him and he laughed with you. "I ... I was just kidding"
"How have you been today?" He ask putting his hands on his waist.
"Oh you know, a morning like the usual ones, is not that something interesting happens"
"I think the same thing, except the fight this morning, did you know what happened?" He ask you now putting his arms crossed over his chest.
"No idea..."
The two were silent for a moment looking at the ground.
"I ... I should go now"
"Sure, I don't bothered you"
"No, you don't do it ... maybe you want to have lunch with me? ... Maybe?"
"Uhm, sure" he smiled and continued to leave the set.
"Holy mother"
Your mind was being invaded by ideas of how that lunch would be, thinking of the worst as he did not attend or that you would fall in your food, have a panic attack and many more things that made your anxiety continue to grow, your nails tearing at your arm and they made it go a little red.
"That was all for this moment, take a break," the director shouted and they all started going out for lunch.
You looked at your arm that had red lines on your nails, you tried to make them disappear while walking to the cafeteria. Your eyes were looking for Bill but you couldn't find him anywhere "maybe he didn't come because you're not good enough for him"
"Y/N!" Someone yelled behind you and you watched Bill come up with two trays of food. "Let's go outside?"
"Sure" you smiled walking with him outside.
The two sat in front of the parking lot eating their lunch. You looked at his beautiful profile, his nose should have an award for the best nose, his beautiful eyes and that face sculpted by a Greek god.
"Do I have something on my face?" He asked you touching his face trying to look for something.
"Oh no, I'm just ... I'm very thoughtful" you turn around trying to hide your red cheeks.
"What did you think?"
"I think, in everything" you sigh, leaving your tray aside. "Like an existential crisis"
"That sounds a little deep" he said looking at the sky, you turn to look at him again.
The two kept in silent, you looked at the ground and he looked at the sky, thinking about how life should make sense. As everything was meant to be, will we ever know the future? You remembered that your mother used to say that she knew what would happen because she could see the future but you always laughed because it was impossible for a person to see the future.
"Do you want to go out somewhere tonight?" Asked Bill out of nowhere without looking at you.
"Uhm, sure" your heart beat fast, he was inviting you to a date.
"We can leave after recording some scenes that I have tonight"
"Sure, I ... I'll uhm, I'll wait here when you finish" you smiled nervously, standing with him and entering the set again.
You recorded your last scenes that day and waited as you told Bill in the parking lot. It was raining and you had forgotten to bring your umbrella, you heard the door behind it to open but it was not him, his car was still there so he could not leave yet. You waited about 19 more minutes until you turned to the door letting him see with an umbrella in his left hand and opening it.
"Come on, I don't want you to get wet" he said putting an arm around your shoulders approaching the umbrella.
His car smelled too good, like a beautiful candle bloom, there were some cigarettes thrown away but you didn't have to take much importance. He began to drive and your eyes are on the drops that fell on the window.
"You're not kidnapping me right?" You joked to remove the horrible silence between the two if you.
"I thought that it would be nice to take you along the long way to your home to get to know you better"
"Why didn't we just go to dinner or somewhere?"
"Charlotte told me you're not a fan of dinners, it bothers you that people see you eat"
You turn to see him quickly with big eyes, how the hell did he know who was your best friend?
"Do you know Charlotte?" You asked to settled in the seat.
"She is a friend of one of my brothers, come to see her because my brother asked me to leave some flowers" he look quickly to you and returned to the road "She told me about you since she was looking at a picture of you and her"
"That bitch can't keep her mouth shut"
"Haha ... I think you should know something more about me since I know something more about you"
"Alright cowboy, how many brothers do you have and where are you from?"
"I have 4 brothers and a sister, and I am from Sweden"
"I would give something to have only one brother" you joke and he laughed with you. "Swedish hmm? Du är en härlig man, Bill."
"Du är också"
You spent all the way laughing with him, making some unnecessary jokes and telling some anecdotes from his childhood. You had arrived at your apartment as you had indicated.
"Well Bill, thank you very much" you looked him in the eyes. "Goodnight"
"Goodnight to you too"
You approached him to kiss him but he change to the cheek, you laugh ashamed leaving the car fast. He left and you stayed in the rain, your pants felt tight and your hair was on your face.
"Yes!" You shouted as loud as possible frightening the guard. "Wait a minute, i leave my damn car"
"You will have to walk tomorrow Miss Y/L/N"
"Thanks for the help"
You would have to walk tomorrow but it was definitely the best night of all time.

Can't believe I finally end chapter 2, forgive me please I'm such a lazy teenager lmao.

Pairing: Victoria x Mc
Disclaimer: The characters belongs to PB
A/N: Hi, I'm back with a new fanfic. the lack of fanfics from Victoria and Mc disturb me deeply, so since our wife Kamilah is spending time out in the war and only God knows when she will return, I decided to start this new fanfic in a not-so-au universe. Enjoy!
Prompt: Weddings are a challenge, even more so when it comes to the two most famous women in Los Angeles. Hollywood weddings are famous for not lasting. Three and a half years of marriage were like a one-way to hell. After countless fights and no reconciliation success, Kitty and Victoria's marriage is on the verge of a terrible shipwreck. Victoria at risk of her third divorce and Kitty to lose the love of her life once and for all, but the two wrecks could be saved of the eminent disaster before the divorce papers are signed?
9h30 am, Los Angeles
“She doesn’t hear me!”
“She acts like a child!”
“I'm sick of it.”
"Are you tired of it? Try to be married to a teenager who thinks she's right all the time and who does just what she wants.”
“I think I'm right all the time? You're confusing me with you! I'm the one who keeps on apologizing!” Kitty snorted angrily, looking steadily at the blonde sitting arms and cross-legged.
“I think we had a... Progress today.” Judy, the therapist looked at both of them with a serious look over her glasses. She made a few notes on her pad and looked at the couple again, barely looking at each other. Both on distant and opposite ends on the couch. “Well ... How do you feel now that you two have expressed your feelings?
"Even more angry.” Victoria said between her teeth.
"I have no idea what I'm doing.” Kitty said.
"You never have.” Victoria countered.
“Did you see that?! She incorporates this ‘diva persona’ at all times, thinking that sarcasm will solve our problems!”
“Did you just call me diva?” Victoria looked at her angrily.
“Well, certainly, since you always behave like that. She gets mad at me without me doing anything, not even telling me the reason!”
"I don’t have to tell you. You did the shit, you have to solve it.”
“Oh, come on!”
“I believe we are evolving with our sessions.” Judy answered. “Our next step is to understand and learn to respect the differences between you two. Victoria, you have to learn to be more patient and understanding. Katherine, you in turn have to learn to deal with the situation itself and take it more seriously.”
“I'm taking it seriously! I just do not understand why we need therapy. We're just misunderstanding, I do not think it's necessary.”
"That's exactly why we need therapy." Victoria replied.
"Our time is up." Judy said glancing at the watch on her wrist. "The task I'm going to give to both of you this weekend is to take some time to sit down and talk to spend time together. I'll see you two next Friday and hope you guys took some advantage out of today's session.”
Victoria got up and left the office with Kitty behind her. The blonde reached the sidewalk in front of the office and was greeted with flashes of paparazzis, she rolled her eyes and put on her sunglasses. They both got into the car, which was launched into the streets of Los Angeles.
Kitty looked tentatively at her wife. Victoria watched the street out the window with an expression on her face that Kitty knew perfectly well and feared that expression. The blonde's lips were compressed, her jaw closed, and a furious look in her brown eyes.
The brunette girl sighed.
"So, uh... Vic?" Kitty called out.
“What?” Victoria asked without turning.
"Uh... Do you want some coffee? I'm free now and I just have to be on set from two hours.”
“I can not. I have rehearsals now. I told you twice today.”
“Oh. I forgot, I'm sorry.”
Victoria sighed and looked at her.
"Look, I'm really sorry I was late for your mother's dinner last Saturday. I did not know it would be so long on set. And besides, your cousin's cake was not even that good...”
“What? Katherine!”
“I'm telling the truth! And you should not have yelled at Teja for having defended me after our incident at the bar.”
"She was getting on top of you!"
“She was drunk!”
"Okay, Kitty, what's your point?" Victoria sighed.
"We're both wrong and we've been fighting for stupid things for some time. So can we at least give a break? And please stop fighting?”
Victoria took a deep breath, swallowing what she had to say that would probably end the moment. Kitty was trying, she had to recognize it. She looked at the blue-eyed brunette.
“Of course. It was getting tiring to fight against you.”
Kitty smiled.
"...And if you want, I can cook for you tonight."
“We're talking now. I promise I'll be home early.”
“Ok then. Sounds like a plan.”
Victoria stared at her Chanel watch. 23:30 pm and nothing from her. No calls, no messages. Yeah, she could not say she was surprised. Could she have forgotten?
Since Kitty had become one of the most important stars in Hollywood, she did not have time for almost anything. Victoria understood and respected this, she also made films, appearances, interviews and everything, but she stopped from time to time to try to spend time with her wife too.
Things had waned since their second year of marriage. Things were different and real with Kitty, unlike her other marriages. She was happy and knew that Kitty was the perfect person for her. Thirty-eight years old and she was in love with a twenty-five-year-old girl. Despite that, she wondered if Kitty was mature enough to maintain that relationship. To maintain that wedding.
Kitty was the kind of person who at the same time did not take herself seriously, she took herself seriously. But she still had a breathtaking smile that irritated Victoria every time she saw her with that smile.
Victoria sighed and extinguished the candle in front of her. It was kind of sad to think she'd wasted time expecting that only person. She never dealt very well with her feelings, her anger always ended up getting the best for her and she would probably explode eventually.
She got up and collected the dishes, keeping the rest of the dinner that was laid out on the table.
Deciding that the best thing would be to sit in the living room and wait. After a few minutes and a few glasses of wine, she finally could hear the sound of the front door of the large mansion opening.
Kitty had finally appeared. She set the keys carefully on the glass table as she looked at Victoria as if she were looking at a wild bear. Victoria looked over her glass of wine.
"A little late, is not it?"
“I had to redo some scenes...”
Victoria set her wine aside.
“Save it. Dinner's in the fridge. If you are hungry, warm.” She stood up threatening to leave the room. Kitty stepped in front of her. "Get out of the way, Kitty. She said patiently, holding her tongue to keep from exploding again.
"I know, I'm wrong this time, and I'll do my best to repay you."
"Get out of my way, Katherine.”
Kitty sighed and did so.
“I'm so sorry. Really. Please forgive me for missing the dinner.”
"I bet you do." The blonde said with an ugly face as she walked down the long corridor of the mansion in her fluttering black robe, as she walked quickly, Kitty was trying to follow her.
“Victoria... Tell me what to do. I do anything.” She stopped in front of the bedroom door. “My cell phone battery is gone. I swear, there was no way I could respond to warn you that I was going to be late. And you know how Thomas can be strict with the use of cell phones on the set!”
“You don’t need to do anything.” Victoria entered the room and headed for the bed, taking a pillow and returning to Kitty and handing it to her.
“What am I supposed to do with it?” The brunette stared at the pillow without understanding.
“Use him to sleep.”
“Victoria...”
"I do not give a damn just... No.”
"Are you really pushing me out of our room? Where should I sleep?”
Victoria shrugged.
"You do not think it's too much? I told you I'm sorry!”
"I've heard it a million times, Katherine! You always feel sorry, you feel a lot every time you do shit and come with that puppy face of regret! I'm tired of hearing the same thing every time.” Victoria, unable to stop herself, shouted. "But you know what? I do not care! If every time you act as if all the things that come out are more important than us...”
“Do not say that! I never put my responsibilities ahead of us! I never did, you are the most important thing on the world for me.”
“I understand about the movies, the interviews, the trips to film out... The only thing I do not understand is Hunt!”
“He's just a friend! How many times do I have to say?”
“I was not born yesterday. You may have been born, but I have not. I've seen the way he looks at you.”
Kitty sighed and ran her hand through her hair as she always did whenever she felt frustrated.
"Stop with that jealousy, silly. I’m only faithful to you, you are the only one that I want.”
"You don’t sleep here tonight." Victoria replied coldly, Kitty sighed and nodded in an ugly face, as if accepting her punishment. She stepped back and turned away, as she turned, Victoria undid the ugly expression on her face, replacing it with a sad expression as she watched Kitty walk away.
She sighed and lay on her bed. Victoria reached out her hand and looked closely at the wedding band.
"You know... One hour you'll have to talk to me," Kitty insisted one morning as Victoria paced back and forth, making her coffee. It smelled good, the best thing about waking up early was to smell fresh Victoria's breakfast through the house. The blonde ignored her words, continuing to prepare her pancakes.
Kitty leaned against the counter. Watching her walk away with a plate in her hands and sit down at the table.
"Uh, where are my pancakes?" She asked looking around the kitchen. Victoria held out the spatula for her. She sighed. "Oh, forget it. I'm going to eat some on the way to the set.” She grabbed her purse and threw it over her shoulder.
The worst thing about being in the middle of fight with Victoria was being blacklisted by her.
“... So clearly you two did not do what I told you both to do." Judy sighed watching the couple barely look into each other's face. "And things are obviously worse, you two are not making it any easier."
"She don’t talk to me," Kitty complained. "It's been a week, and I'm exhausted. I've tried countless ways to get her to forgive me. I bought flowers, presents, I even tried to make her croissants!”
Victoria snorted, rolling her eyes.
"And she ended up burning."
Judy sighed and touched her temples.
"You kicked me out of the room!"
"You deserved!"
"Now are you talking to me ?!"
"Okay, okay. Enough you two. You spent all our time in therapy discussing the reason for this stupid fight. I do not care. You both solve this, you two have to understand that if you continue with this, your marriage will not last for long.”
And for the first time that week, they both looked at each other. The fear was evident.

sutton and a trans guy, please i'm begging you! my crops would flourish, my skin would clear
[henny we all need hydration & july is no time for acne so here u go]
//
kat has to cover the new wowfull selections and truly the only reason you both decide to go instead of sending one of her interns is because there are very few things jane hates more than smorgasburg.
‘no,’ she says, about forty times, before kat offers to buy her whatever she wants on scarlet’s card and finally jane relents.
you get there together, all crammed into what is probably the world’s tiniest via, you think, with kat essentially on adena’s lap in the back and you had let jane have the front seat because she was already grumpy. it’s so hot already and you didn’t even bother wearing makeup because it’s a sunday at noon in the middle of july and kat had made you all get out of bed so she can eat waffles from the most pretentious food truck gathering ever, so it’s truly not worth it on so many levels.
the bouncer checks your IDs and kat gets you three glasses of rose before handing you both $50, which shuts jane up momentarily.
‘i’m gonna go find somewhere to sit with adena,’ she says, and you kind of envy her right now, because she has wine and the best pair of vintage denim shorts you’ve ever seen, dramatic sunglasses and beat up sneakers. also, a beautiful girlfriend who is in a skirt that flows with the breeze in lines that oliver would love, who holds kat’s hand and you see them laughing and it’s wild, you think, how easily in love they are.
you and jane both kind of watch them walk away, a little dazed, and then she turns to you.
‘i literally hate this so much but we have $100 to spend on food so, shall we?’
she offers the crook of her elbow and you grin and you end up getting poke tacos, bahn mi, japanese street ice, green chile frito pie, and a vegan burger to share before you grab another glass of wine. kat drops you a pin and you find her and adena lounging on a blanket in the shade, thank god.
kat raises her brows at all of the food you have and you shrug. ‘you gave us the money.’
she grins and proceeds to instagram the entire spread before taking a bite of everything, which even jane laughs at.
‘kat, are you gonna get anything?’
‘yeah,’ she says, waves a hand around vaguely. ‘adena and i had breakfast before we came though so i’m not that hungry yet.’
jane literally spits out part of her taco to frown completely and you want to laugh because you love her so much and it’s so unnecessary but you’ll let her have it.
‘so you’re saying you dragged us to this crowded, hot, bougie food truck hell and you don’t even want to eat anything?’
‘uh, no,’ kat says. ‘i gave you $100 to eat anything you wanted and eventually i have to eat the new wowfull.’
jane groans and lies down against the blanket dramatically and adena smiles into kat’s shoulder.
‘love you so much, tiny jane,’ kat says.
//
eventually kat really does have to try the wowfull, which she proceeds to say like seven times and you’ve had three glasses of wine in like 90 degree heat so you are both decently day drunk and the word keeps making you laugh harder every time. the line is insane but at this point you’re so fucking full and apparently kat is still good to go because you’re waiting patiently, not really bothered, and jane is chatting with adena about, you don’t really know?, but something to do with memoir and sexuality in iran—honestly it’s a little shitty that you’d tuned them out and kat had too because she was just staring at adena’s boobs for a hot few minutes before you’d dragged her to finally do what you set out to in the first place.
you’re talking to her and she’s turning back, to check on adena and jane, probably, and you really aren’t saying anything that interesting so when kat breaks out in a huge grin you’re a little confused until a guy two people behind you in line spots her as well and smiles, just as big.
‘jayden, oh my god,’ she says, stepping out of the line to give him a big hug.
‘kat,’ he says, clearly excited, ‘hi!’
she steps back and looks him over and wow, okay, he’s super cute, you can see that, with skin a few shades darker than kat’s, perfect arms, an incredible smile, dimples, and, listen, you’re drunk but you have good taste no matter what.
‘you look incredible,’ she says, and then tugs him up two spots to where you still are standing in line.
‘jayden,’ she says, with a shit eating grin and you know what that means, but honestly you are not going to complain today, ‘this is sutton.’
‘nice to meet you, sutton,’ he says, shakes your hand.
‘nice to meet you too.’
‘hey,’ kat says, glancing around. ‘are you here with anyone?’
he shakes his head no. ‘i was on a run and then i got hungry, figured since i was already in the park i’d stop by.’
‘ew,’ kat says. ‘running.’
he laughs and you really think that maybe kat has like a magnet for attractive people, yourself included, because. wow.
‘so,’ you say, ‘how do you two know each other?’
‘oh,’ kat says, in the way that you know she’s trying to downplay one thing or another, ‘we went to yale together.’
‘two of three black people in our communications program,’ jayden says, and they high five.
‘that’s awesome,’ you say, and kat nods but jayden shrugs. humble, a good quality.
‘what are you doing in the city?’ kat asks, completely ignoring the menu even though you’re like three people away from ordering, but whatever, you can wing it.
‘i just moved to park slope,’ he says. ‘i’m doing PR for an lgbtq youth outreach program for the center.’
okay, so, he’s a good person. kat looks at you like she knows you literally thought just that, puts her arm around his shoulders. ‘always the better of the two of us.’
‘no way,’ he says, and you love seeing your friend like this, honestly. you also love seeing her friend just exist so you’re so content. ‘from what i know from your social, you are department head and you also have a very, very pretty girlfriend.’
kat nods modestly. ‘true. on both accounts.’
jayden hip checks her and kat shoves him, gently but she’s also drunk and you send an apologetic smile to the white dude behind her in a cutoff poncho and tevas, the absolute worst.
‘so,’ jayden says, drifting closer to you, ‘how do you know the illustrious katherine edison?’
you smile because kat hates her full name and she turns away with a huff to finally look at the menu, which is probably good because she actually has to order in like, four seconds. ‘we met as interns at scarlet four years ago.’
‘sutton,’ kat says over her shoulder, ‘is in the fashion department. fucking killer.’
jayden smiles when kat sighs and orders all six wowfulls on the menu because she can’t remember what she was actually supposed to review, and she waves him off when he tries to order too.
‘i just paid for, like, ten thousand calories. at least you can help us eat a few.’
jayden shrugs and you both ignore kat for a few moments while she tries to figure out how to carry all six wowfulls back to your blanket without spilling all of them and finally you both take pity on her and grab two each. she rolls her eyes and strides off in front of you and you both laugh.
jayden is cute as shit and jane has apparently seen this development and offers the two of you more wine, which she’d picked up while you were in line.
‘thanks,’ jayden says, sitting down between you and kat. he introduces himself politely, shakes jane’s hand, and then laughs at kat’s blush when she introduces adena.
adena is thrilled to hear a few stories about kat in undergrad, how she threw up in a freshman sociology class because she and jayden had been to a party the night before and kat had never had vodka before; the time they went to harvard and tried to join a secret society to find out more about them; her apparently very intense and strict nap schedule her senior year.
kat rolls her eyes and tries to argue but you know it’s mostly for show, because she’s happy and taking pictures of all of you eating these insanely decadent desserts and adena feeds her a spoonful of ice cream and you and jane share an eye roll before you notice jayden doing the same and honestly, he’s in at that point. he’s really in when he gets kat and adena to agree to speak at an upcoming event for his youth center, something to do with intersectionality and creativity in the workplace, which like they really are both perfect for.
kat is a very professional person, really, and lowkey a workaholic, and you know this, but sometimes—'i need to go for a walk,’ she groans, lying back on the blanket dramatically. ‘i’m. so full.’
‘fair,’ jane says, gets up and you help her throw away all of your collective trash. it’s hot as hell but the park is pretty shady at this point, but once you get out of the designated food truck area kat smirks at adena and then takes off her shirt.
apparently today was a day for kat to not wear a bra and you have literally seen her boobs more times than you can count, as has jane, and definitely adena, but her girlfriend still blushes and you roll your eyes again.
you pause because kat now wants adena to put sunscreen on her back, apparently, and when adena kisses behind kat’s ear jane says, ‘this isn’t a porn film,’ and kat laughs, loud and full and you love both of them for those exact reasons.
‘fine, fine,’ she says, accepts it and puts the sunscreen away, links her fingers with adena again.
you’re too busy being a little jealous of them to notice that jayden has taken his shirt off too but when you look over at him, to ask him something about his work or his apartment or his neighborhood, you have to swallow because, okay, abs. jane squeezes your hand and you have to fight a strangled laugh and kat and adena are off in their own fucking world a few feet ahead of you.
you don’t even notice the scars on jayden’s chest until you do, and, okay, you can do this. you know lots of trans people, you fitted a bunch of trans men for a fashion spread just last month, so everything clicks into place pretty quickly but you’re still staring and you don’t really know what to do because you’re kind of drunk and the last thing you want to do is be shitty to this dude that you think is honestly super banging—but then jane, perfect tiny jane, says, ‘wow, your abs are just. wow.’
he laughs and you laugh and you maybe have never loved another person more in the world than you love her right now. kat turns around momentarily and grins at jayden, genuinely delighted, and then winks at you.
i hate you, you mouth, and she only smiles bigger and turns forward, kisses her girlfriend’s cheek.
//
you all end up sitting near a fountain and kat falls asleep while adena plays with her hair, so then adena starts photographing her, and everything around you.
jayden is smart and funny and really, incredibly caring, and jane makes an excuse to go find the bathroom but you know she went after your second glass of wine so she doesn’t really have to go.
‘i’m glad i ran into kat,’ jayden says, and it’s sincere, for sure.
‘me too.’
he smiles, hands you his phone. ‘she’s great, but i also am very glad i got to meet you.’
and, like, you’re going to have to navigate some things, sure, but he’s fucking hot and also very kind and kat seems to love him and he’s already commiserated with jane on like eight complaints so.
you’re sutton brady, and no one is better with people than you.
‘i’m very glad i got to meet you too,’ you say, finishing your contact information. you call yourself from his phone and he smiles and you save his number.
kat wakes up because adena legitimately has to pee and jane comes back with waters for everyone—an actual angel—and you spend another hour sweating it out with your friends, and a boy you like, and you’re day drunk and exhausted by the end of it, very happy.
kat gives jayden a big hug before she and adena get into a via to head back to soho, and jane tries to shake his hand but he laughs and gives her a hug instead.
you stand on your tip toes and kiss his cheek and he glances down, a little shy, but with a smile when he looks back up at you.
‘i’ll text you,’ you say.
‘i look forward to it.’
he jogs away with a wave and jane’s face is a human version of the smirk emoji and you let out a deep breath.
‘yeah,’ she says.
‘fuck yah,’ you say.
//
the next evening you lie down next to jane in bed; you and jayden had been texting all day and you really, really like him and really, really do not want to mess this up.
‘hey babe,’ jane says, pausing whatever intense and probably boring documentary she’s watching and setting aside her computer. ‘what’s up?’
‘can you direct me,’ you say, because jane is the best and has probably researched literally everything, ‘to resources on how to not be a shitty cis partner to a trans person?’
jane grins, opens her computer to an actual, honest to god google doc, and scrolls through it.
‘i started compiling it this morning,’ she says.
‘oh my god.’
she shares it with your email with a triumphant click. ‘i thought you’d never ask.’
you gesture to the computer. ‘you definitely thought i’d ask.’
she nods. ‘that’s true, because you’re an amazing person.’
‘i don’t think this is amazing, just, like, decent?’
‘you’re right.’ she shrugs. ‘you are amazing, though. just, you know, read and listen to some of this stuff, it’s a good baseline, and then ask him if you’re unsure about anything.’
‘yeah,’ you say. you’re both quiet for a minute and then you smile.
‘he’s so fucking cute.’
‘oh my god,’ jane says. ‘where do i even start?’
//
you’re resting your head on his chest in bed and he kisses the top of your head and then says, ‘you know kat will literally brag about this every single moment, the fact that two of her friends are together and she set us up.’
‘oh,’ you say, looking up so you can see his eyes, ‘so we’re together?’
he looks legitimately nervous and it’s endearing. ‘i—thought so?’
you roll your eyes and kiss him. ‘you’ve been my boyfriend for a hot minute already, don’t worry.’
he tilts his head back. ‘you’re an ass sometimes, you know that?’
‘i’ve been best friends with kat for five years. i have to be.’
jayden laughs and agrees and you prop yourself up on your elbows and kiss him, because kat and adena are always late for brunch, so you definitely have time.

I think maybe I need a recent awful/awkward/assy story about how you're so bad with women. I'm starting to think it's just a ruse. I think you're actually a casanova.
That’s me! Mr. Casanova. Here is, no joke, my most recent date I’ve been on. It’s long, but you asked. Ready?
So.
There’s this girl whom I’ve known for a few years through mutual friends. We’ve never hung out and I haven’t spoken to her in a good three years (and the last time we “spoke” was over Facebook Messenger).
A few months ago, she messages me out of the blue, saying she just saw my short film and liked it. We go back and forth, and since all of Facebook is ruined for me because I get so many messages on there every day, I eventually just give her my email address.
We email back and forth for a while, and I’m like, “Look, this is dumb, but if you’re ever in LA, text me and we can grab coffee”. It’s what we call in the business “a sad and pathetic attempt at sort of asking a girl out”. Unbelievably (and I read the text three or four times in a row because I literally cannot believe it) she texts me the next day and says she’s coming to LA the following Tuesday and that I should have dinner with her.
I break out in a preemptive nervous sweat.
Now, first off, this girl is way out of my league. I mean, WAY out of my league - she’s funny, smart, super weird, and gorgeous. It’s ridiculous. Also, I mention I own a Brontosaurus egg (aka “Sexual Kryptonite”) and she actually gasps and says that she wants to see it. Is this my perfect woman?
Also, no one ever comes after me or makes a move on me or hits on me, ever, so I’m a bit taken aback (and if I’m being honest might have had a fleeting thought or two that maybe this was some sort of trap and she was going to murder me) but I’m weird and paranoid not stupid so I say yes to dinner.
The day she’s supposed to come to LA for dinner rolls around, and I end up having to do a last minute shoot at work so I have to cancel the morning of. It’s shitty and I know it. She’s bummed, but she’s like “why don’t you just meet me after your shoot and we can still have drinks” but I don’t know how late it’s going to go and she’s way out of my league anyway and probably doesn’t actually want to have drinks or see the Brontosaurus egg but is just being nice because she’s a good person on top of everything else so I apologize profusely and decline. She’s cool about it. Too cool. SHE’S TOO COOL. Anyway, she makes me promise that I’ll come down to San Diego to see her. Laughing, 100% not believing that she’s serious and still wants to see me, I say “Sure. Sounds good”.
But she was serious. She wants me to come down and see her.
So we pick a day that works. It’s a Saturday. I’m pretty nervous because this woman is literally out of my dreams but goddamn it man we have to at least TRY to not die alone right so I buy a ticket.
The night before I’m supposed to go, my friend Sona has a holiday party at her apartment. It’s really fun, but I have a very early train to take the next morning to go and visit my probable soulmate so I’m keeping the drinking light. But then two very bad things happen:
1.) Sona makes her infamous Death Punch.
2.) My ex-girlfriend shows up to the party.
It’s a small party. My ex is The Worst. I start drinking heavily.
My ex and I start talking. More death punch. I am really, really, REALLY trying to not be an asshole, but fuck man, I’m only human and I end up saying a lot of bad shit to her face. I drink even more death punch, get in a parting shot at my ex (I’m pretty sure it was something about her looking like Tom Petty) and Uber home.
I wake up the next morning to my cellphone ringing. It’s my soulmate.
“Hey! What time is your train getting in?”
I look around at my bedroom. All the lights are on. I’m fully clothed. My shoes are on.
Shit.
I tell her that I got too drunk the night before, and that I’m not coming. She’s like “are you serious?” And I try to make a joke but internally I am screaming at myself WHY. AM. I. SUCH. A. FUCK. UP.
Feeling worse than I possibly have ever felt IN MY LIFE, I promise this girl that I will come down and see her soon. Then I text my ex and apologize for the things I said. To her credit, she’s gracious about it. I want to light myself on fire.
A week passes, and my soulmate and I text back and forth. She’s still talking to me for some reason and we figure out another time for me to come down to San Diego to see her. We pick a Saturday. I buy my ticket. This time, to make sure I don’t miss my train, instead of going out I stay home and spend the night imagining my ex doing bong hits onstage while singing “Free Falling”. It only sort of cheers me up.
The next day, I finally get my dumb ass on the train.
If you’ve never taken the train from Los Angeles to San Diego, I cannot recommend it enough. It’s called the Pacific Surfliner and for two and a half hours, it runs right along the most gorgeous coastline and bluest goddamn ocean you’ll ever lay your eyes on. I’ve only got about a half hour left when the thought hits me: “Wait, what the fuck am I doing?”
I barely know this girl. She’s way out of my league. I’m a sad old man with a sack of old jokes and two sleeves full of rubbery muscles. How could this girl possibly want to talk to me? What if she really was just being nice? Maybe I’ve read this all wrong and she just wants work advice. Yeah. That’s probably it. I mean, what else would we even talk about? What are we going to DO?! Shit! I haven’t planned a fucking thing! Should I make a dinner reservation?! Fuck! Should I have spent these last two hours researching cool shops and museums?! What if I miss my train back?! What then?! WHY DIDN’T WE PLAN AHEAD!? GODDAMN IT, BLEYAERT! and on and on and on ad nauseum.
I get so nervous that I eat all four protein bars that I brought in case of an emergency which I guess works out because this is absolutely an emergency but then my breath smells like a protein bar trash fire so I put like nine pieces of gum in my mouth and start chewing furiously.
Then, of course, I’m there.
I get off the train, and immediately it’s hot. I peel off my sweaty jacket, and text her. She picks me up in her nice car. It’s an Audi. I drive a dusty Jeep Wrangler. Fuck.
I get in, and she smiles. “Hey! I’m so glad you made it! Welcome to San Diego!!” She goes in for a hug, and I kind of go to hug her back but I’ve already put on my seatbelt because you know like safety first and so I kind of motion to hug her but I don’t quite get there and it’s awkward. We start driving and she puts down the windows and her hair in the breeze looks like a shampoo commercial and she’s laughing and I’m laughing and we’re both laughing and I look outside at the passing trees and wonder to myself how fast we need to get up to before I can be certain that throwing myself out of the car would mean instant death.
She asks me some questions, but I’ve got all this fucking gum in my mouth and there’s like, SO MUCH saliva going on, so I take it out of my mouth and go to quickly throw it out the window before she can see but I can’t find the window thing and she looks over and goes “whoops! I’ve got it” and then I throw it out the window praying it doesn’t fly into the backseat and I gulp down all the saliva and it’s quiet in the car for a few seconds and then she’s like “wow that was a lot of gum” and I mumble something about all the protein bars I ate and reach for the radio.
She takes me to her favorite taco place, and I get some real food in me and I manage to start acting like a human being. She’s great. I mean, really really great. It’s like the whole non-hug lots of gum/saliva thing never even happened. She’s super ambitious, just like me, so the convo is effortless. We finish up, and before I can even confess that I have nothing planned, she offers up a bunch of things to do! I choose a winery, because I’ve never been. She smiles. “Ooooh. I’m going to get you soooo drunk.” I smile back. “Challenge accepted.”
The next 5 hours are amazing. We’re drinking and talking and laughing and sitting outside looking out over these incredible rolling hills as the sun sets. We talk about everything - even getting into some dark emotional shit. I am completely enthralled. I haven’t felt this way in a long long time. It’s incredible. Suddenly, her face turns serious. She looks at me in the fading light, her soft eyes studying mine. “Can I show you something?”
We drive for a little bit. I ask her what kind of music she wants to hear, and she plays me her favorite new song. It’s some bad ass trap music. Could this girl be any cooler? We turn up this winding road that ends at a small park at the top of this mountain with a big white cross on it. It’s fully dark now, and all of San Diego is lit up before us, stretching out down below as far as the eye can see. It’s beautiful.
It’s windy and a little cold, so she takes my arm and  pulls me close, nestling her head in the hollow between my neck and shoulder. Her hair smells amazing. She points out all the landmarks among the lights down below.
“There’s the ocean. Annnd there’s where I live. And those lights way over there are Mexico.”
It feels like we’re in a movie. We’re quiet, just enjoying the moment. My heart is beating a thousand times a minute. It’s time to make a move.
“So… Is this like, the ‘lover’s lane’ of San Diego?” I ask.
“Yes.” She says.
“This is where you bring guys to make out?” I ask, smiling.
“Yes.” She looks up at me, smiling. The lights of San Diego twinkle in her eyes.
“We’re lucky it’s dark, then. Darkness favors my looks.” She laughs.
We stare out at the twinkling lights below.
I do nothing.
After a few minutes, I say “Man, it’s kind of cold up here. Are you cold?” She shakes her head no. The wind whips around us, delighted at my cowardice. She puts her head back on my shoulder and holds me tighter.
We go back to the car anyway.
Later, driving back down the hill, I ask her what kind of music she wants to hear. She says to put on whatever I want.
I make my train with plenty of time to spare.
