A bad habit is that when I no longer like something I silently abandon it and never look back. Thus, I have to actively remind myself that other people aren’t being whiny online for no reason when they complain about an former source of joy turning sour on them. Griping is actually normal! Critique is how art gets made better next time. I’m being the weirdo by lapsing into apathy as soon as something stops spinning the old wheels. My way still seems a lot less miserable.
#genuinely though some of you live like this?#you actively hate something and keep watching it?#kind of seems like a skill issue imo#if i didn't like a major character of a piece of media i simply wouldn't engage with it#the world is wide and potential is limitless

I'm going to be honest. I really hate how the discussion has become "all AI is bad all the time always" and not "how can we regulate and improve AI in a way that will benefit people, not exploit them, and improve the world with a potentially useful technology that we can educate people on"
It just seems so defeatist to throw the baby out with the bathwater like this. Yes, as is typical under capitalism, AI has so far been used to some truly horrific ends. But, It also has the potential to do truly great things for people in a wide variety of ways. Why are we not fighting for an AI that is ethical, helpful, regulated, and understood by people so as not to be deceived by it? I don't want to stop the march of technological advancement, I want it to work for the benefit of people collectively and not just be exploited by corporations who want to hurt them. It's easy to see AI as completely bad when it's mostly been used for bad things, but there is a limitless amount of things we could do for people with this technology if we truly fought for it to be used ethically.

ok wait hearmeout
gun and reader but it’s reader who’s also one of charles choi’s ten (eleven for reader??) geniuses.
what if. reader who’s the learning genius to gun being the training genius.
alrigjt bye love your work <33
I got inspired to write this as a crack fic until heh. Thanks for clarifying. Crack fic probably coming up soon. Thanks as always for requesting and reading!
Gun Park x Reader: The Learning Genius
Training genius meets the learning genius (and crack here)
A blank slate is presented to Gun in the form of you.
Someone specially sourced by Charles Choi with an exceptionally rare talent: a learning genius.
Elevated beyond that of even the copy ability, because to learn is to master and not just to piece together a cheap imitation.
.
.
Kyokushin karate is first used to put you through your paces, with Gun explaining and demonstrating the basic philosophy. Your brain holds on to his words, and your body then executing each move perfectly.
The first impact you make, the first punch that you throw out, causes Gun to stagger back a few steps - almost winded and eyes wide with shock.
Charles is right. You are the learning genius.
.
.
Gun is relentless, as expected from the Training Genius and Shiro Oni.
Nevertheless, whatever he throws at you, you absorb like a sponge.
He makes no secret that he is impressed.
.
.
Truly you should be limitless with your potential, which leads to Gun thinking about other things.
"Oh?" you grin at him in between dodging his kicks, "You're still looking to do your GED?"
Gun nods, right before he launches a devastating attack that ends with you on your back.
The smile never leaves your eyes even as you wince in pain, "I can help tutor you!"
.
.
If someone was to ask how many pounds of pressure a Taekwondo back kick would exert, or if a fist was travelling at 20mph, how many ribs that would break - Gun would be able to answer you.
Well, more of a case he would give you a practical demonstration.
"Stop." He cuts you off as you're mid way explaining a theorem. Teetering between giving up on this completely or gritting his teeth and getting through this as a point of pride-
"Gun," you say, sensing his train of thought, hand reaching out to calm his bouncing leg, "I'm sorry, I'm not explaining this well." Your tone and face is sincere, " Let me try again."
Alas a training genius is not a learning genius, but after a few more attempts, you explaining and using a different angle each time, Gun gets it.
.
.
The obsession with you creeps up on him, initially going unnoticed due to the close quarters and sheer amount of time spent together.
And really, once it starts, Gun doesn't think anything of it. He has obsessed over others before, especially those that he believes are worthy of becoming his successor.
No-one though has exceeded his expectations quite like you.
.
.
Daydreams are for fantasists and stargazers, not someone that deals with the brutal reality of the world on a daily basis.
Despite this, thoughts of you and your potential run through Gun's mind. Morphing and evolving with each day spent together. At first focused on developing your fighting skills, then a new light shone on your relationship as you helped to tutor him.
Finally, he wonders what else he could teach you and he could learn from you.
.
.
Things come to a head when after a particularly gruelling sparring session, Gun asks if you wanted to grab something to eat after.
You freeze as you wipe the sweat from your brow. It takes a moment for his words to sink in and when they do, you turn around with a wide grin.
"Like a date?"
"...Like a date, yes."
Of course, you could tell.
You are the learning genius after all, and that includes learning all the nuances of Gun Park.
Gun's gaze softens when you nod in response.

Misbehavior
Heyyoo! Back again and with something different. I've been in the JJk Fandom for a while, but this is my first time writing for it. This was for a friend, but I wanted everyone else to enjoy it, too. Oh, and if the cursed technique that the reader uses looks familiar, I did read a fic recently where the character had what I used as their technique. I hope the author doesn't mind if they see this! I can't remember who it was!
Pairing: Gojo Saturo x Reader
Warnings: Jealous and possessive behavior. Some gaslighting. We've got a fluff ending and a smut ending, so this can go either way. Face Fucking. Gojo isn't very nice. Enjoy!
@goth-mami-writer
-------
You have been a part of Jujitsu society for two years now. you'd been picked up by none other than Gojo Saturo, the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer. He'd tracked you down and plopped in the seat across from you at the little cafe just down the road from your apartment. You had jumped at the sudden intrusion and glared at the white-haired man sitting across from you. Gojo proceeded to call you out on the cursed energy that flowed through your body and asked what your technique was. You had shrugged, telling the odd man that you didn't know what he was talking about. It was the end for you after that, Gojo grinning at the untapped potential you had no idea you even possessed.
After that, you learned all about Jujutsu Society and became a part of it as Gojo's personal assistant/student protégé. The elders had surprisingly agreed to Saturo's suggestion that You stay with him after figuring out your cursed technique. It was nullification, the perfect technique to counter Gojo's own. In the Elders' minds, you were the perfect candidate to keep him from going overboard since you could essentially turn off his limitless. However, you knew that there was nothing that would stop Gojo Saturo from getting anything he wanted.
Gojo took you under his wing, teaching You everything you needed to know to survive in the jujutsu world. He made rules that would keep his key safe and keep you close to him so that no one else would be able to use you against him. Just the thought of someone else teaching you left a bad taste in his mouth.
Speaking of his perfect little assistant, Gojo wondered where in the world you were. He had strict rules that You weren't allowed to go on missions with other sorcerers, citing his excuse of you not being ready to go on missions without his protection despite knowing how to fight for yourself.
A bag of sweets hung from his arm as he spun in a circle, covered blue eyes assessing the entirety of the common room at Jujutsu High for You. He left the common room when nothing stuck out at him and lopped off to your personal room. He kicked it open with a wide grin that immediately fell when he realized that you weren't here either.
Humming, he turns on his foot and searches for the first years. You enjoyed spending time with them whenever Gojo was off on his own more dangerous solo missions.
He finds them in the training yard, laughing when he spots Nobora sending Yuuji to the ground with a well-done grapple, "My lovely students!" He greets and is careful to keep any irritation out of his tone. There was no need for them to think that anything was wrong, after all, "Have any of you seen _?"
"Last I heard, Nanami took them out on a mission," Megumi mentions, and Saturo is glad that he has mastered his control over his cursed energy. None of his students sensed the way his mood had immediately plummeted, annoyance coiling hot in his chest at the thought of Nanami having your break one of his rules. One of the most important ones.
"Did he now?" He murmurs and sways side to side as he calms himself down, "Ya know when they are supposed to be back?"
Megumi shrugs and eyes the older man. He and his senpai had an odd relationship, one that no one wanted to touch with a ten-foot pole. They knew that You was safe, though, so that's all the first years cared about. you were their friend, and none of them wanted Gojo Saturo to ruin your, "Dunno. Probably today? They left two days after you did." He finally says, tone uninterested as usual.
Two days after he did? Gojo had been gone a week, so that meant that you and Nanami had been alone together for five days. Five days was far too long. Anger joins his annoyance, and Gojo is hard-pressed not to teleport to the Elders and demand why they had sent you with someone that wasn't Him. The entire school knew that you belonged with him.
"Hmm. Good to know." He says and turns to walk away, a frown creasing his face the moment his students can't see it. "Keep up the good work and send You to me if you see your first, ya?" He asks, and Megumi nods.
"Sure thing, Sensei," he says and watches his teacher leave before his attention is caught by his friends once more.
Saturo goes to You’ room and sits on the bed. He sets his bag of goodies down and then kicks off his shoes. His lanky frame drops on the mattress with a thud, and he gets comfortable. Gojo had no problem waiting for his precious assistant right here.
------------LINE BREAK------------
Gojo perked up the moment he heard footsteps coming up the hallway. He forced himself to relax and appear nonchalant despite the way his heartbeat picked up. He had calmed down a little from waiting for so long, but now that You and Nanami were back. His annoyance from earlier flared up like an angry cat. He waits, all six eyes trained on the door as his assistant and Nanami stop outside your door.
"Thank you again for accompanying me on the mission. You made it much more…enjoyable." Came the deep voice of his fellow Sorcerer. Gojo frowns heavily at the tone the blonde uses. It's fond and full of affection. Your response doesn't help.
"Of course, Kento. It's not like I was doing anything with Gojo away," you say, and Gojo sucks in a deep breath. you're on a first-name basis with Nanami, but you still haven't called him by his first name. He'd give anything to hear you say Saturo in your pretty voice.
"Mhm. You do know that you aren't stuck with him, right, You?" Nanami asks, and Gojo actually sits up at that. How dare he? The blonde knew how Saturo felt about his TA and knew that you were his. Saturo had found you and brought you up to the confident Sorcerer you are now.
Saturo hears your shuffle on the other side of the door, manicured hand landing on the handle and twisting, "Of course I know," you is saying as you opens the door and Gojo spreads his legs, elbows resting on his knees and chin propped on top of his folded hands. He sees You freeze for half a second when you catch sight of him on your bed, "Oh," your face flares in a blush, "Speak of the devil."
Nanami puyous the door open further, scowling behind his glasses when he catches sight of Gojo in his coworker's room. He crosses his arms, and Gojo catches You' glance at the other man, dark eyes scanning his thicker frame for a split second before landing on Saturo again.
"You do know that it's inappropriate to wait inside someone else's room?" Kento rumbles lowly, and everyone present could feel the disappointment in his tone, but Gojo could care less about what Nanami thought right now.
"Do you know that it's rude to steal someone else's assistant?" He snaps right back and can't keep the cruel tone out of his voice.
You shuffle between the two men, obviously uncomfortable with the rising tension between them. You knew that you'd broken one of the important rules that Gojo had set for you, but you also knew that Nanami was strong, too, and could keep you safe if your technique fluctuated.
"You aren't a thing to be owned," the blonde says and flicks his eyes down to the young woman. He is tempted to just take you away from Gojo, but then he would be no better than the white-haired man.
Before Saturo could exclaim otherwise, You spoke up, "I'm fine, Nanami-San," you said and gave the tall man a small smile, "You don't have to worry about me. I know that both of you have my best interests at heart." You say and angle your tone at Gojo, eyebrow ticking up at him.
The white-haired man gapes at your, scoff rolling off his tongue and a pout scrunching his face, "Of course I do." He snaps, affronted that anyone would think otherwise.
Nanami sighs, punching the bridge of his nose. He would never understand the dynamic these two had, "Fine. Just promise that you will come straight to me if he ever does anything…undesirable."
His wording has Gojo laughing. How could he, Gojo Saturo, ever do something undesirable? Only someone as stuck up as Nanami would think that of him.
"Okay, okay," you say. you desperately want this entire interaction to end quickly, "I promise I'll come straight to you, Kento."
Saturo sobers up almost instantly when he hears you say his first name, "Alright. Well. Thanks for delivering my assistant. See ya later, Nanamin!" He exclaims and then promptly grabs You by the wrist and drags you into the room and then slams the door in Nanami's face.
The TA and teacher listen as Nanami sighs in annoyance before walking away, steps heavier than usual, and shows off how much Gojo gets under his skin.
"You didn't have to slam the door," you comment dryly, and Saturo turns to give you all of his attention.
"No, but I wanted to," he quips and plops back down on the bed. He crosses his arms and watches as his assistant sits down on the stool of your vanity. Behind his blindfold, his eyes trail up your slender legs, pale and creamy, just begging for him to leave handprints behind. He is glad that the female uniform came with an optional skirt.
You huff and cross your own arms, "You are upset with me," you say, and Gojo gasps dramatically, hand spraying over his chest in a "how dare I" move. However, he isn't denying it, so you know that trouble would still be coming.
"Maybe. Nanami did have you break the rule," he points out, and his pout becomes exaggerated, "Unless you wanted to go with him. Is that what it is? Don't need Gojo when Kento is there to protect you," his tone drips in mean sarcasm, but underneath it all, there is a line of hurt that You can barely hear.
The young woman sighs, hand sliding through your dark hair and looking away from your teacher. Guilt flooded your system, and you frowned, "I'm sorry. Of course, I still need you, Gojo," you said quietly. How could you not need him when you still had so much to learn?
Gojo stands suddenly, stepping close to You and reaching one long-fingered hand out to tuck his knuckles under your chin. He raises your face, and he leans down close enough that he can feel your breath on his face. He can smell you from here, sweet coffee and the light perfume you like to wear, "Do you, You? Do you really need me?" He mocks.
your face explodes in a blush. Sure, Gojo was always handy and had no concept of personal space, but it wasn't often when this happened. When he got so upset with you that he broke out the other rules.
you swallow harshly, "I do need you," you whisper, and your eyes flicker across his bandana. It makes you nervous with him so close.
A mean smile curls his mouth up at the corners, "Then why do you still call me Gojo?" He demands, and green jealousy colors his voice, "When you call him Kento," he snarls the name and holds his assistant still when You flinch back.
You bite your lip. Ohhh. Gojo was jealous. you weren't sure how to handle that, especially not when the man wouldn't let you go. So, you swallow and tell him the truth.
"Nanami asked me to call him by his first name," you admits to him and flicks over his face for anything that would give how he felt away, "You've never asked me to call you by yours," you point out and Saturo casts his mind back.
Gojo frowns. You aren't wrong. He's never outright asked you to say his first name, but that shouldn't matter! Not when they have such a strong and unique relationship. He scoffs and leans away, letting You go and rocking back on his heels.
"Well, I want you to call me Saturo from now on," He hums and shrugs, "Most of the time anyway." He amends after a moment and then stands straight. A shit-eating grin ghosts over his face, and he suddenly looms over You, his presence filling the entire room all at once, "I still like it when you call me Sir."
He watches his TA flush all the way down to your toes. He cocks his head to the side, grin widening when your thighs press together. He slides a hand through your hair, tugging it down so that you stare up at him. Saturo admires your as an idea comes to mind, "Think you can show me how sorry you are?"
This wouldn't be the first time that Gojo pulled something like this. He had guilt-tripped You before into getting what he wanted, and this wouldn't be the last time eityour.
"Y-yes, Sir," you gasps softly, and Gojo brings up his other hand to caress your face, thumb tapping against your lip and then stroking the plush flesh. He takes his time, making his naughty assistant wait as he explores your face.
“Good, Let’s start correcting these misbehaviors then,” Saturo murmurs and then pulls away. You licks your dry lips and watch your teacher dig around in the plastic bag that you just now noticed. He makes a soft disappointed noise when he realizes that the chocolates he’d bought earlier have now melted.
“I was so excited to share these with you_,” Saturo coos your name, condescension dripping from his voice as he turns back around to present you with a finger covered in melted chocolate. He sucks it into his mouth with a hum,” Huh, still tastes good. You should try some. It would be a shame to let it go to waste,” Gojo’s tone shifts, becoming playful in an instant.
“What?” You choked out, eyes going wide, and you hopped off your stool to get some distance between the two of them, “No! No, you aren’t going to start this, Saturo,” you were tired and sore from the mission with Nanami, definitely not in the mood for a game of cat and mouse with your petty teacher.
Saturo laughed, a devilish grin on his face as he gave chase, “Start what? I have no idea what you are talking about,” He says casually and steps around the furniture with ease. He is so much stronger and bigger than you are, and it makes him want to keep you close. Makes the strange, aloof man want to tuck this special girl safe away from the fear in this world. You Spade is one of his few weaknesses in life, and Gojo Saturo had learned to keep those close.
He gets the upper hand when you make the mistake of going near your bed. you gasp when he appears at your side in an instant, pushing you down on the blankets and sitting back on his heels, long legs bracketing the young woman and trapping you in between his legs.
“Ha!,” Saturo crows in victory and grins down at you. He suddenly needs to see you, so he slips his thumb under his wrap and slips it up and off, tossing it behind him. He could always find it later, “I think I deserve a reward,” Gojo murmurs.
You stare up at the man who had introduced you to this world. He looked a sight with his hair tousled around his eyes, the fine strands covering his striking blue eyes just enough. It was unfair how attractive, how downright hot this man was. And he knew it.
“You are insufferable,” you sigh and flop into the mattress, letting the familiar springs take your weight. You raise a hand and poke the man's chest, “Jealous and possessive, needy even,” you poked him with each word, and Gojo just shrugs. He is shameless.
“So? Would you have it any other way?” He demands and cocks a brow down at your. He leans in, close just like he was last time, but this time there isn’t anything in his way. The strongest sorcerer knows the answer by the way your pale cheeks blush and your dark eyes dart away from his own, “Answer me,” Gojo demands, and this time You know to give your teacher an answer.
“No, Sir,” you whisper and sucks in a sharp breath when his hand catches your jaw. Gojo angles your face to his own, and You watch, breathless and starstruck as his pupils dilate to pinpricks. He licks his lips, and you watch the wet muscle disappear back into his mouth.
“That’s what I thought,” Saturo praises and his grip turns soft, fingers sliding up into your dark hair, “That deserves a reward,” he states and then he is kissing you to within an inch of your life.
Spade makes a startled sound in the back of your throat before sighing and easily surrendering into the kiss. His lips move expertly against your own, pushing and teasing the soft flesh. His tongue soon joins the fray, shoving past your lips so that he can finally taste you.
Gojo grunts, hand tightening in Your hair so that he can get the angle just right and properly shove his tongue down your throat. He needs you to remember that you just can’t break his rules without thinking of him. He would never, ever hurt his key. you were far too precious to him, but he could ruin your. Make your never go a day without being able to think about him. Gojo Saturo would become everything to you.
His assistant choked briefly before sucking a harsh breath through your nose. Good. Last time, he’d been shoved away and glared at for not stopping. The kiss turns sloppy, spit leaking from between their sealed lips, and when he finally does decide to stop, a string of saliva connects them until it breaks when you lick your lips.
They stare at one another, and then Saturo softens and leans in again, stealing a few more sweet kisses from the young woman and then untangling his hand from your hair. You lay down, and Gojo follows, tucking his head against your chest and listening to your heartbeat. He swallows thickly, and his grip tightens on You.
“Don’t do that again, okay?” Gojo says tone firm, and You hold in a long-suffering sigh. The special grade sorcerer squeezed his key, “Be upset with me all you want. It’s all to keep you safe.”
“I know, Saturo,” you murmur and stare at the ceiling. How you craved this man. He had wrapped your mind and body in his entire being, and you had let him. Had easily given up any kind of control to the strongest man you knew.
“Long as you know,” He grumbles and buries his face in your chest, and you slide a hand into his hair to pet the white strands, “I can’t lose you too.”
---------LINE BREAK-----------
SMUT VERSION
“Good, Let’s start correcting these misbehaviors then,” Saturo murmurs and then pulls away. You lick your dry lips and watch your teacher dig around in the plastic bag that you just now noticed. He makes a soft disappointed noise when he realizes that the chocolates he’d bought earlier have now melted.
“I was so excited to try these with you, but you weren’t youre,” Gojo sighs dejectedly and destroys the bag and everything in it with a flare of cursed energy. You jump at the suddenness of it and eyes your teacher, “Oh well, I’ve got something just as nice to share with you.”
You cleared your dry throat, nerves taking root when Saturo cocked his head in consideration, “You still want to show me how sorry you are?” He asks, and you nod quickly. It isn’t nice when Gojo is mad at you. He makes it his goal to make your life a living hell.
“Good, get on your knees then,” the strongest sorcerer orders, and you look at him dumbfounded for half a second, and Gojo snaps his fingers loudly, “Don’t make me repeat myself. You’ve not been a very good girl, don’t you know that?”
The sudden change in attitude has You falling to your knees with a soft whine. It wasn’t often when Gojo got like this, but it filled you with nervous anticipation every time. your teacher stared down at you before reaching up and sliding his blindfold off and tossing it behind him. He needed to be able to see all of this.
“Come on, Baby,” He urges and You slowly reach for his pants, “I know you know what to do,” Gojo throbs in his pants, and he needs to be in your mouth yesterday.
you swallow as you unbuttons the dark slacks and tug them down. There is a damp spot on his briefs, and you admire just how big Saturo is. His hand tangling in your hair knocks You out of your thoughts, and you get to work, grabbing the elastic and slipping the briefs down to meet his pants.
Saturo grabs the base of his dick, stroking himself with a groan and you watch, enraptured as he teases himself until precum beads at the tip, “Lick it,” Saturo ordered, and You opened your mouth, tongue lolling out and lapping at the salty mess. Gojo groans and his hand tightens in your hair, pulling tight and forcing the head of his cock into your mouth, “Now suck, you know how I like it, Baby.”
The young woman closes your eyes, jaw already beginning to ache at the girl inside of your mouth. Gojo Saturo was not a small man in any way, and that included his dick. you took him down the best you could, precum and spit mixing togetyour and making an embarrassing slick noise in your quiet room.
“Could Kento fill your mouth like I do?” Gojo demands and his hips jump forward, causing You to choke and grab his thigh for dear life. His hand tightens to the point of pain and your eyes fill with tears, not having expected the sudden rough handling, “Think he could Fuck you as I do?” he snarls meanly.
Saturo doesn’t expect you to try and answer, instead, he begins to thrust, hips pistoning back and forth as he fucks his assistant's mouth. He would make sure that you would never forget who you belonged to, who had made you who you were today. Gojo whines low in his throat when he gets close and he looks down, grabbing You’ jaw with his free hand and squeezing, “Look at me. I want you to watch me come down your throat.”
You force your eyes open, heart fluttering in your chest when you lock with Saturo’s blue ones. There is nothing in your world but him right now, and the petty bastard knows it. He squeezes your jaw again and speeds up, pace becoming sloppy as a mix of spit and precome spill from between your lips and his fat cock.
“That’s it. Remember, You,” Saturo growls, and the young woman struggles to hang on to his words, “I’m the one who gave you this. I’m the one who protects you. You are mine,” his voice turns ragged and strained and your throat burns from how deep this man has forced himself, “My key, my weakness, mine,’ he snarls the last word like an animal, teeth bared and then his is coming.
Coming so much that You choke immediately, Saturo refuses to pull out, hand tight and tangled in your dark hair, “Swallow it, I know you can do it. Say you’re sorry, Baby,” he coos and hisses at the feeling of his assistant swallowing around him. He loses his grip on your hair, petting the tangled strands as you milks him dry for all he is worth, “That’s it. You're such a good assistant me.”
Saturo lets go and You pull away with a cough, face flushing as you struggle to catch your breath. You wipe your face with the sleeve of your uniform jacket and make a mental note to do the laundry later.
Before you can stand on your own, Gojo drops and picks you up with ease, depositing you on the bed as he fixes up his pants and then stands beside you. He disappears and then is back seconds later with a bottle of water and a packet of sweets. He hands both of them over and then sits behind his assistant, leaning your back so that You rest against his chest. He curls an arm around your waist and tucks you close.
“Don’t do that again. You’re mine, you got that,” Saturo whispers and presses soft kisses to the back of your neck and hair. You could get whiplash with how quickly this man changed moods, but you nodded dutifully anyway. This punishment could have been a lot worse after all.

fanfiction is worth way more than you might think it is. here's why.
something i don't think anybody ever talks or thinks about is how fanfic helps writers develop incredibly useful skills and tools in the same way that prompts, worksheets, and studying literature does. (i actually think it's much more accessible than many of those types of supposedly helpful methods to build good writing skills. fanfiction makes the possibilities limitless while building upon media that people love and really connect with. you can find whatever you want if you use the right tags in AO3.) to illustrate exactly what i mean, i present these points:
*NOTE: if you're not familiar with fanfic terms, i'll define them as i go! i'm also an AO3 user, so i'll be using that as a basis for a lot of my thoughts.
it’s a really helpful way to get a grasp of how to keep characters consistent in a piece, since you have to work with characters that already have established personalities, backstories, habits, and character traits that carry over from their source material. this can get a bit tricky when writing AUs (alternate universes) or canon divergences (hopefully self-explanatory) in particular, but if you acknowledge that characters are OOC (out of character), this can solve that issue pretty quickly and as long as you make everything make sense within context, you're golden. not only that, but you can fix any flaws that you perceive in a character by adding in your own headcanons (personal ideas/beliefs about a character) or by creating realistic traits in that character that don't exist in canon but make sense for the character. this also works for expanding upon canon traits that are never explored to their full potential in canon.
a great example of this would be tony stark in the MCU. a lot of fanfic interpretations of his character put a stronger focus on his anxiety and PTSD, since the movies hint at those traits existing, but don't do them a lot of justice. another good example that's a bit more broadly applicable is LGBT+ or neurodivergent headcanons. if you really identify or kin with a character and feel that they have a certain orientation, gender identity, or mental disorder/condition, you can make it happen! this often has the great side effect of opening up a lot of possibilities for writing those traits into that character and how they affect the world and other characters around them differently than in canon.
you can think of an almost infinite amount of different scenarios to put characters and story events in. i mentioned AUs and canon divergences above, but there are also fanfic tropes like everybody lives/nobody dies, kidfic, time loop/time travel, role swap, missing scene, and even omegaverse (i'm not explaining that one to you, you're on your own pal) that offer different possibilities for putting characters and story events in all sorts of circumstances and contexts that differ from canon. (continuity soups are one of my very favorite examples of this technique. in a continuity soup, an author working with a franchise that has multiple different continuities can cherry-pick aspects of each continuity they like and smash them all together into a single world. this technique works especially well with transformers, which has, at this point, almost a dozen different continuities that are in fact all canon at the exact same time.) a writer doing this learns how to translate certain necessary story events into a completely different world, or can come up with a whole new world, storyline, or context on their own to play with plot, conflict, characters, and story events.
there are a near-limitless number of AUs out there, and every AU that is widely used comes with its own set of tropes. tropes are another useful tool for writers, because they can either be cliche or they can actually be very helpful for building a compelling plot or for introducing characters in a certain way. there are even fanfic genre tropes that exist, like hurt/comfort, fluff, whump/angst, slow burn, enemies to lovers, dead dove do not eat, crackfic... the list goes on!
writers who have difficulty writing things like romance, intimacy, emotional turmoil, injuries, sci-fi, or magic can easily learn a lot from how different fic writers write those topics (and many others). there are tons of fics that focus a lot on one specific genre and whose authors have developed a really great understanding of how to write those genres. not only can you learn a lot in terms of how to write genre, but you can also learn to develop your own writing style. this is one of the reasons why i think fanfiction is a lot more accessible than traditional books and classics. sure, you could read danielle steel novels or fifty shades of grey (which is itself fanfiction!!) or 1984 by orson welles, but unless you're really invested in the worlds being created, you'll find it harder to appreciate the prose. and, a lot of fic writers are not professional writers, so they don't even care about prose! (this is a broad generalization, and i mean "prose" in a more academic sense because i am literally studying rhetoric and prose for my bachelor's degree. not a lot of fic authors are breaking down writing styles for dialogue, diction, or sentence structure. they just write what they love writing and often develop their own styles out of that, which is also just as valid.)
i myself have definitely not been reading as many books in recent years as i've read fanfics. i go through fanfics like wildfire through a dry field. finding fic authors i love reading has really helped me improve my writing style! not only that, but i feel confident to try writing real romances with kissing scenes, to use actual scientific language to describe in-text phenomena, to describe magical objects and worlds with more clarity, and even to try my hand at writing smut. i've learned to break out of my comfort zone thanks to fanfiction, and it's helped me become a much better writer.
developing a writing style through reading other authors' work is much like developing an art style. any artist knows that you're encouraged to create your own style by mashing together traits from other artists' styles you really love and making them into something that's wholly your own. writing works the exact same way. one of my professors last semester had us do an "apprenticeship" with a short story collection written by a certain author to open us up to styles we like and don't like. she said that's how you create your own style, by figuring out what you like and what you don't like. i've been doing this with fic authors for years, and let me tell you, there are some real literary geniuses out there.
fanfiction helps writers learn to accept criticism as well as suggestions for what to write next. one of the hardest parts of being a writer is having someone read your work and tell you there's something wrong with it. your peers do it, your professors do it, editors do it, publishers do it. i've had the great privilege of participating in multiple writing workshops as part of my university education, but it can be really, really hard to find or create writing workshops outside of an academic setting. sites like AO3 cut out the middleman and bring authors right to their audiences. anyone can leave kudos on a fic if they liked it, and anyone can comment on a fic and chat directly with an author. i know for a fact that most authors regularly check and read the comments sections on their fics for feedback, criticism, and requests for what to write next. you can't necessarily do that with big-time authors like stephen king; you’d have to send a letter that may never be read.
the closest thing this system of interaction comes to is voice actors hopping on twitch streams and taking requests from viewers to say all kinds of things in-character. (this actually has the added benefit of inspiring new and interesting fic ideas.) the community on AO3 is genuinely one of the most accepting and welcoming internet spaces i've ever existed in, with possibly the exception of tumblr. fic authors really value feedback, and they love when people leave comments. sometimes they write fic just for themselves, but sometimes they do it for their audiences too! there's a really deep appreciation for source material and fanon (fan canon) alike in the world of fanfiction, and a lot of that is fostered in the author-audience connection. this is invaluable as a beginning writer, because it can help establish criticism as a valuable tool and not something to fear.
it can be scary when you put so much love into something and people don't like it. but fic readers are some of the most encouraging, wonderful people ever. you can trust them to offer valuable feedback and actually constructive criticism.
in short, fanfiction is a bit like placing a kid into a sandbox that only has a select few toys in it and letting them play however they want. so much creativity can come out of working within certain restraints, and it can really help you develop a lot of skill you might not develop otherwise. more aspiring writers should write—or at least read—fanfiction so they can reap some of these benefits. i wish it were more widely discussed in universities, at the very least, because there is so much to learn from fanfiction.
and if you really think fanfiction is only for gross internet weirdos, i remind you of fifty shades of grey being fanfic of twilight, or that city of bones, the first mortal instruments book, was originally a ginny/draco fanfic. i don't even need to mention the sheer number of more recently published romcom books that are based off of reylo from the star wars sequels. plus, if you really think about it, most modern shakespeare adaptations and homages (10 things i hate about you, leo dicaprio's romeo and juliet, the lion king) are fanfiction! there's no shame in making media of what you love. there's no shame in loving anything in the first place. do what makes you happy, and chances are you'll learn something along the way.

WHAT IS THE KARDASHEV SCALE?? TYPE 2 CIVILIZATION!!
Blog#296
Wednesday, May 13TH, 2023
Welcome back,
A Type 2 civilization, according to the Kardashev Scale, is one that has the ability to harness the energy output of their entire star. This is a significant advancement from a Type 1 civilization, which can harness the energy of their entire planet, but not their star. To put this in perspective, our current civilization is believed to be a Type 0.7, meaning we have not yet fully harnessed the energy potential of our planet.
To achieve Type 2 status, a civilization would need to build what is known as a Dyson sphere, a hypothetical megastructure that completely surrounds a star and captures its energy output.
This would provide the civilization with an almost limitless supply of energy, enabling them to power incredible feats of engineering and exploration throughout the galaxy.
Building a Dyson sphere is a daunting task, to say the least. It would require an enormous amount of resources and technological sophistication, far beyond anything humanity has achieved so far. Some estimates suggest that it could take thousands or even millions of years for a civilization to reach this level of technological advancement.
Once a civilization achieves Type 2 status, however, they would have access to truly unimaginable amounts of energy. They could use this energy to power a wide range of endeavors, including interstellar travel, terraforming other planets, and even manipulating the fabric of space-time itself.
One of the most exciting possibilities of a Type 2 civilization is their ability to explore the galaxy. With their virtually limitless energy supply, they could construct massive starships capable of traveling at speeds close to the speed of light. They could explore distant stars and planets, perhaps even discovering other intelligent life forms along the way.
In addition to exploration, a Type 2 civilization could also work to terraform other planets, transforming inhospitable worlds into places where life could thrive. They could use their energy to create artificial atmospheres, warm up frozen planets, and even move planets to new locations within their solar systems.
Another possibility for a Type 2 civilization is the ability to manipulate space-time itself. With their advanced technology, they could potentially create wormholes or manipulate gravity to create shortcuts through space. This would enable them to travel vast distances almost instantly, opening up the possibility of truly intergalactic exploration.
Of course, there are also potential risks associated with such a highly advanced civilization. They would need to be extremely careful with the vast amounts of energy they were harnessing, as even a small mistake could have catastrophic consequences.
Additionally, they would need to be mindful of the impact their activities could have on other civilizations in the galaxy.
Overall, the idea of a Type 2 civilization is a tantalizing one. It represents a level of technological advancement that is almost beyond our current understanding, but that could open up incredible possibilities for the future of humanity and other intelligent civilizations. Whether we will ever reach this level of development remains to be seen, but it is certainly an exciting prospect to consider.
FUN FACT!!
A fun fact about the Kardashev scale is that it has been referenced in popular culture, such as in episodes of the TV series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "The Simpsons". In "Star Trek", the Federation is classified as a Type 2 civilization, while in "The Simpsons", Professor Frink creates a machine that can measure the Kardashev scale, and he is disappointed to find out that the Earth is only a Type 0.7.
COMING UP!!

⚜️ hello [nefarious request incoming]: 18+ he/they, looking for 18+ roleplayers for an ocxoc, fandomless (aside: i do have fandoms) undoubtedly 🕊️ mxm scenario that has been dormant in my head.
semi-literate to novella (not picky on formatting, 300 is my minimum - i need room to write). i’m detail-oriented and looking for like minded people. i have a busy schedule due to school, so expect the first week/s to be mostly plotting - not a fast ic replier, please be lax with this. i love character boards, aesthetics, playlists, etc.; i’m a very flexible writer. i’m not currently looking to double - you can come with a pre-made oc or we can build them together!
i aim to muse a [reluctant] vers-bottom in this dynamic. 70:30 plot to smut because world- & character-building is important to me. general, negotiable gist: m/c is married (fxm, potentially nuclear family), comfortable, a classical dedicated husband. enter y/c, since i don’t like to commandeer plots it’s up to you exactly who he is (suggestions: childhood companion, .. stepcest, something twisted), essentially someone connected to m/c’s life. they’re grown apart, with a strained relationship atp - y/c harbours some vengeful resentment toward m/c for ‘choosing his family > y/c’. y/c is someone more ostracized in the community, perhaps even due to troubles with the law. slowly, however, y/c weaves a way back into m/c’s life - m/c being very hopeful for y/c to get the help he needs. cue manipulation, gaslighting, possession, coercion of m/c in exchange for y/c’s continued livelihood + compliance, infidelity (against m/c’s wife), stockholm (? it’s not really a kidnapping, just a parasitic relationship) possible dub/non-con. widely limitless, mutual obsession, hate/love unhealthy dynamic, on both sides because m/c has an unchecked rampant savior complex.
i write in discord servers, tupper isn’t necessary but welcomed, real life fcs preferred. not ghost friendly, communicate any discrepancies and i’ll usually adjust. a strong ooc friendship motivates me, + equal enthusiasm and plotting on both sides!!
♦ like if you’re interested and i’ll reach out!
give a like and anon will get back to you

Okay but for POE eating Desmond
sort of an au of an au
what if, completely scrap the solar flare story. There was no solar flare for the Isu, and there's no solar flare coming for humanity.
Instead, the war between humans and Isu had a much more vicious end--namely, weapons of mass destruction ended up getting unleashed. The Isu are fairly universal in saying it was humans who did it, who got ahold of Isu technology they didn't understand and weren't responsible with. Some modern humans aren't sure they believe that, but, well. It's hard to argue with people millenia dead over an even seventy five thousand years ago.
Regardless. The Isu who survived the extinction event were eager to prevent another. Some of them hunted down and destroyed their technology, thinking humans shouldn't have access to things so powerful. Some humans destroyed the items as well, for very different reasons.
Some sought out the tech and hid it away, not able to stomach destroying their legacy.
There were as many thoughts on what should be done as their were people aware of the situation. But one person had the vision to look to the future.
Minerva knew that regardless of what people scrambled to do now, the remnants of their technology, tools of subjugation and war, would linger. There would be the things hidden away, the things forgotten--there might even be new things created, plans of manufacture discovered and carried out. Even now, other Isu somewhere in the world might be making more items capable of tapping into the limitless potential of the Grey. If she wants to make sure no one falls to the same hubris, she can't meet this moment, but must meet a future one.
And so she does not destroy, but designs a Destroyer. She tells Tinia and Juno of her plans, recruits their help. Juno is especially helpful, having worked on gene alteration experiments with her husband. She through herself into the project wholeheartedly.
But her motives were less than pure. She only pretended to agree with Minerva's vision. But rather than design a Destroyer of Isu technology, she aimed to create a battery filled with power, that she alone could draw on. Her experiments to prolong her and her husband's lives had resulted in his death. But with her own personal battery, she could extend her life for tens of thousands of years.
It was nearly too late, when Minerva discovered her treachery. There wasn't much time left in her natural lifespan, and without Juno's help, they wouldn't be able to create what they wanted in a mere handful of generations. She would need to do things the long way.
With Tinia's meticulous attention to detail and her extensive calculations, they set in motion a series of dominoes that will not reach their finale for seventy-five thousand years.
In that time, some wires get crossed. Echoes of Juno linger, scraping and clawing for power. A ghost in a network of dead technology pushing humans to find it, use it, move the pieces into place on the board. Does the intelligence behind this remember it was alive once? Does it know what it's trying to do? Is it anything more than malice and desperation, twitches of thought sparking across the grey?
Whether or not it has intent, there are cascades of effects. Artifacts discovered, fought over, used, hidden.
And eventually, Desmond Miles is born. A tool foretold, a tool what remains of Juno still thinks she might be able to wield.
A tool the Brotherhood feels like they have been holding their breath for. They sense, on some level, that he is a culmination, a long awaited event.
(Is it their fault they assume what they've been waiting for will give them power? Who drawn into a war doesn't long for a weapon?)
They train him as a fighter. Train him too hard, perhaps, but he returns, so the fault clearly wasn't theirs.
And when they give him what he was destined to hold, the most sought after prize in their history and wait with wide eyes to see him embody what they were always meant to be--
he fucking. He eats it. He eats the fuckim apple he eats it just takes a bite right out of it he eats the apple
what the fuck
In a world where the Isu-Human war came to a bloody conclusion, it would probably mean that the world this Desmond Miles would be born in would be a world filled with the ghosts of the past clinging to the present.
Not just the ghost of an Isu heralded by some as a goddess who wished to protect the world and a selfish megalomaniac wishing to control the world by some but other aspects of the lives in that world would be changed.
Religion, for once, would be different, especially if one was to consider how many more Isus would have been alive for so much longer without a Solar Flare to wipe most Isus and humans out.
Monarchies and rulers base their right to rule on the percentage of Isu blood they contain, of certain family heirlooms that may or may not be able to bend the minds of humans to their will.
And so the Brotherhood is formed by the desire of mankind to be free. To be free of the ghosts of the Isu-Human wars, free of the control the Isus’ descendants wish to impose upon the world.
While the Templars… the Templars uphold what is meant to be the ‘natural order’ of things, working with the Isus’ descendants to bring order in this chaotic world.
There are descendants of Isus who join the Brotherhood, of course, and they are the ones who start the whispers of the ‘chosen one’. Of the one that will finally end the neverending war between their two factions that still continues to this day in the shadows?
Perhaps one of them, said to bear the blood of Minerva herself in his veins even as he is known more as a son of no one, would be the start.
Perhaps it is the one heralded as the prophet who would push for this fateful day to come, distant as it may be from his time.
All that matters was that Desmond Miles was born and raised from both of their bloodlines.
Yet that day, all Desmond Miles could think about was…
How this was meant to be his 26th birthday.
And he was really looking forward to eating a cake all on his own.
So when they presented to him the most treasured artifact of the Brotherhood, said to have been used by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad himself (although others say it was Ezio Auditore who had used it and the one that Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad had used had long been lost…)…
He just thought.
Damn.
This looks yummy.
(The'Desmond Eats His Problems Away' idea that started this XD)
#if the war still raged on for many years#then most probably#the isus would have survived and#done the ‘we need to keep the bloodline pure’ thing#so in this world#there would be people with higher percentage of isu genes#hell#rumors that there are still pure isus out there would also persist#maybe altaïr could have been an isu as well#maaayybbeee#desmond eats his problems away#sorta#ask and answer

Love Reading 💖 - March 2024 - Sagittarius
Singles:
Who is Coming In: 7 Cups & The Chariot
Regarding: 9 Swords rev
Long-Term Potential: 4 Swords rev
This isn’t “A” person, it’s several people, you have limitless options and you know it. None of them really float your boat, none of them have long term potential, at least right now. 50% if you are stuck on an ex, and will ultimately choose to head back in that direction and fix your relationship. The other 50% are openly dating, not committing to anyone, not interested and unbothered about it. You would be healing from the last relationship, looking for rebounds, not trying to settle down. For now, I get you’re not serious and you’re waiting for “the one”. When you meet them, you’ll settle down, and it’s that simple. Old School could show your standards being something you were taught or it’s been pushed on you somehow, “mama said don’t marry someone who xyz” - and that could be a block. If you’re not healing from an ex, you’re healing from a very strict family/religion/some sort of conservative teachings that have kinda brainwashed you, for some, for others you genuinely have a lot of standards someone has to meet - maybe because of family or religion. 9 Swords is stressss about this. It’s a big wide world out there and there is no one right way. You can marry someone and travel the country in a van. You can find someone that flies planes and travel the world. You could move to the mountains, off grid, and live off the land. Own a farm, raise donkeys and grow marijuana. You can do the 9-5 thing and hang your hat with a housewife too, there is no one right way 💗 Unless you think there is.

“Zen as fuck” but reversed, stressed as fuck. Flip it over and see how happy people are doing 50,000 different ways of living, it’s ok. What beliefs do you have that are *yours*?
Signs you may be dealing with:
Heavy Aries, Virgo, Scorpio & Sagittarius
Couples:
Them: Ace of Swords, Page of Swords, King of Swords & Knight of Swords
Regarding: The Moon
I think you both are playing around, casually dating each other, and maybe other people too. You’ve met your match with this one, the two of you are very similar energies. They have heavy swords, I’ve never seen every swords card in one person before 😆 I don’t think they expected this to get serious, but here they are catching feelings, and you kinda freak them out for that reason. If you’re not dating casually, then you were friends first, maybe even friends now, this person is super chatty and probably considers you someone they enjoy talking to. A lot, they talk A LOT, about everything. They could ask you a lot of questions about yourself, they’re trying to figure you out. How you feel, where you stand, if you’re into them, beliefs, what do you want? A very intellectual way of approaching love, they wouldn’t even call it that…yet. Not out loud. They’re also trying to figure themselves out and their own…what do *they* want? Wtf are these feelings, why is Sag looking good in that way when I’ve seen them pick their nose, daily? What is wrong with me 😆😆😆
This is freakin cute and I’m here for it. You make them really happy, they can’t wait to see you and tell you everything, they want to start something with you, or if you already have, they’re really excited about it. They didn’t realize they liked you like that, their Oracle showing “struck by love” feels like this person, something about you hit them like lightning ⚡️ You two could both talk about being with other people a lot, your sexual exploits (could be part of the attraction), or you have until now. They don’t know if they’re okay with what you do (have done?) or switch that. They don’t want to ruin anything. If you’re the one that’s asked them out, ya done sent them into a tailspin 😂 Heavy air sign energy, this is great.

Regarding: 3 Cups
I’m also getting you didn’t expect this person to become what it looks like they’re becoming to you. Your messages show you’re crazy about them, willing to pursue them, but maybe didn’t expect that NOW. If they’ve been with someone else, maybe dating “some shmuck” 😆 I heard, they could be newly single and you swoop tf in TODAY. You want them, they’re yours, you could’ve been waiting for this moment even. But also…they’re not the only one. 3 Cups is dating around, people have your number, you’re getting “U up?” texts at 2am from your last conquest or w/e. You constantly go back and forth on what to do, because you recognize this person as a Hierophant. Someone serious, marriage potential, the real deal, or it could be. You seem to have a solid connection, and you know if you offer something then it’s gotta be Pentacles or forget it. The Star shows you seeing this in this person. Your path, a future. You’re comfortable enough with them that it could be forever, but like this person, you’re like “whaaaaat” because *forever* has not even been on your radar hello, Oracle shows living in the moment, when tf did forever become right now? Also freaking out. Your energy is more about taking the leap anyway, you’re afraid if you don’t while you can, you’ll lose them. Or you already know that. You aren’t sure what you *do* have to lose either though. Does a serious relationship mean you can’t be yourself? Or it has to be super serious and you can’t have fun?

Regarding: The Hierophant
You both need to calm down, that’s what this is saying. On the bottom, you’re having a panic attack 😆 Because this is mirrored, both of you have preconceived notions of what “commitment” is, that could be kinda toxic. Or you could come from toxic families, have been in toxic relationships before, you both have a funny way of seeing The Hierophant as control. Or you’re both trying to control every little aspect of every little thing, your feelings. Controlling feelings? You can’t! I mean, within reason. Even this says you can’t, there is genuine love between you and the feelings can’t be caged or held hostage like you both are trying to do. Your oracles say to chill, enjoy the moment. You both could be with other people too, that’s an obvious definition of The Devil, talking to each other while you’re in other connections. At the bottom of the deck shows Wheel of Fortune, your energy darling 🩷, things are changing in your love life and it’s looking like you both are considering giving up who you’re with in order to be with each other. I’ve gotten that same story several times this month, could be something in the air. If there’s a control aspect to this, it could delay things, the point is to let it flow however it flows, the Oracle shows “meeting and talking”, just start with that and don’t worry about the rest. Get clear with each other on your feelings, and eventually this Emperor will have to flip upright, both of you will have to do something about it - cutting off other options in order to actually be together. Both of you. Feels pretty new though, at least in a loving sense, you’re building something together, the friendship part of your connection is solid. After that, it’s nothing until it is, calm down.

Who Needs The Avatar When You Have A Gojo
➥ summary: Throughout Heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one….honored to beat your ass.” If you thought it was bad enough having one Gojo around try having another - that’s where you come in. You’re the younger sibling of the ol’ so famous Gojo Satoru and find yourself getting isekai into another world where motherfuckers fire bend and this bald monk kid is suppose to be the worlds savior but how’s he gonna save anyone if he can’t master this shit called bending - anyways join us, yourself, these people on a Journey of self discovery or some shit like that.
➥ chapter 4: Legends of the Past
In the wake of their hard-fought victory against the Fire Nation soldiers, the small town of Earthbenders basked in a newfound sense of peace. As the dust settled and the echoes of battle subsided, (Y/N) Gojo and the Earthbenders gathered to reflect on the history that had led them to this point. It was a time to share stories and legends, to shed light on the world that once existed.
Gathered around a crackling fire, the Earthbenders began to recount the tales of old, passing down the legends and knowledge that had been preserved through the generations. They spoke of a time when harmony reigned, when a protector known as the Avatar guarded the balance between the elements—earth, air, fire, and water.
The Earthbenders explained that the Avatar possessed the unique ability to master all four elements, serving as a bridge between the human and spirit worlds. The Avatar was chosen at birth and was believed to be the reincarnation of the previous Avatar, creating an unbroken cycle of guardianship throughout the ages.
As the stories unfolded, (Y/N) listened with rapt attention, her eyes wide with wonder. She imagined a world where a single being wielded the power of all the elements, ensuring the harmony and balance of the world. The Earthbenders spoke of the Avatar's incredible journey, their quest to bring peace and prosperity to all nations.
However, as the tales continued, a somber note entered the conversation. The Earthbenders revealed that the Avatar had disappeared from the world, leaving behind an empty space in the cycle of reincarnation. The reason for their disappearance remained shrouded in mystery, lost to the annals of time.
The absence of the Avatar had profound consequences, particularly for the balance of power between the nations. The Fire Nation, once a symbol of passion and creativity, had veered down a path of conquest and tyranny. Their desire for dominance had led them to expand their influence, subjugating other nations and instilling fear throughout the world.
The Earthbenders spoke of the Fire Nation's relentless pursuit of power, their hunger for control and supremacy. They detailed the Fire Nation's attempts to bend the world to their will, igniting conflicts and leaving destruction in their wake. The once-vibrant world became a battleground, with the Fire Nation soldiers spreading their flames of tyranny.
In the absence of the Avatar, the Earthbenders had taken it upon themselves to protect their land and maintain the balance as best they could. They understood the responsibility that came with their elemental abilities, and their unity had become their greatest strength against the forces that sought to oppress them.
As the tales drew to a close, a silence settled over the gathering. The weight of history hung in the air, mingling with the crackling of the fire. (Y/N) absorbed the stories, her heart heavy with the knowledge of the Avatar's disappearance and the ongoing struggle against the Fire Nation.
Yet, in that moment, (Y/N) felt a flicker of hope. She realized that she, too, possessed the power to make a difference, to stand against the forces of oppression. The Limitless and Six Eyes abilities coursing through her veins were a testament to her potential. She understood that she could be a harbinger of change, a beacon of hope in the darkness.
Inspired by the stories and guided by her connection to the Earthbenders, (Y/N) vowed to embrace her role as a protector. She saw within herself the potential to bridge the gap left by the absent Avatar, to wield the powers of the elements and restore balance to the world. The town had become her sanctuary, and its people her family—a united force ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As the fire crackled and the embers danced, (Y/N) and the Earthbenders shared a moment of solidarity. They were prepared to confront the Fire Nation soldiers once more, to stand firm in the face of tyranny, and to ensure that the stories of old did not fade into oblivion.
Chapter 4 marked a turning point for (Y/N) as she discovered her place in the world—a world longing for a new protector, a world in need of balance and harmony. The tales of the past served as a reminder of the great responsibility that lay upon her shoulders, but also the incredible power she possessed to shape the future. With the Earthbenders by her side, (Y/N) vowed to rise above the challenges, to ignite the flames of change, and to bring forth a new era of harmony.

My First Post.
About Me.
Welcome to the World of Words, Jose Guaido!
Hi there, friends who share my passion for language, learning, and art! As the curator of this virtual haven where ideas blossom, language becomes beautiful, and words come to life, my name is Jose Guaido.
A Little About Myself
I'm an enthusiastic writer who is looking to defend human rights and freedom capabilities, driven by the limitless potential that language presents. I have had a meandering trip exploring the fields of linguistics, literature, and expressiveness; my blog is a canvas on which I paint the hues of my linguistic palette.
The Significance of Words
In an information-rich society, words, in my opinion, can reshape viewpoints, ignite the imagination, and fill gaps. Here, we celebrate the enchantment that happens when words dance on the page, whether it's by examining the subtleties of language, discovering the glories of literature, or piecing together the concepts of provocative ideas.
This blog is a tapestry of my reflections, ideas, and explorations. Since we all realize that citizenship cannot become one if it is not united to complete plans of action that will ensure that our people and the entire region are governed by a voice of justice and freedom. From linguistic advice and literary analysis to thought-provoking discussions on a wide variety of topics, I invite you to join me on this intellectual journey. Expect a combination of the profound and the whimsical, the informative and the entertaining, as we navigate the vast landscape of human expression.
This is a community of similar individuals who value language's artistic quality, not simply my place. I invite you to express your ideas, participate in conversations, and let the power of language to unite us.
Together, let's set out on this language journey, where each post serves as a destination, each paragraph as a path, and each sentence as a step. I appreciate your participation in this trip.
Let us celebrate the power of words and freedom!

Five Episodes Later: Reevaluating Picard
I started this rewatch to refresh my memory so that I could tackle the question of whether the fandom had judged Picard too harshly and if it was as dark and dystopian as was commonly accused.
Through that process I have discovered much that is praiseworthy, some implications that bother me, and more than a few questions that pivot on one’s own subjective response to particular cues about whether and when the protagonists are objectively correct or if there is far more room for them to be messy.
For more like this check out my other essays reevaluating Star Trek Picard and interrogating the widely held fandom criticism that Picard made the Federation into a Dystopia.
The Dystopia Question
Ultimately what I’ve found is that Season One is less of a deconstruction of core ideas about Star Trek, than a richer exploration of the premises of Voyager and Enterprise: what happens when decent people are caught in ambiguous situations and without the resources of an entire Federation behind them?
The backdrop of the failure of the Romulan resettlement effort after the destruction of Utopia Planitia also has resulted in a schism of sorts in the fandom wherein most people are horrified and immediately saw fit to draw analogies to Brexit or the Trump administration, while a disturbing minority shrugged off the catastrophe as the Romulans getting what they had coming to them and have argued the Federation had no moral obligation to help the Romulans.
My own examination of the evidence has led me to feel that there is a strong case for a murky middleground. We could presume for instance that Admiral Clancy is a reactionary who is overstating the case for Starfleet minding its knitting and having too many domestic obligations.
On the other hand we could steelman her case with a very large body of evidence consisting of a vast number of instances where it falls to Starfleet to provide timely disaster relief and protection to the Federation’s vast and underserved frontiers. We need look no further than perhaps dozens of TNG plots to support the idea that an overextended Starfleet would come with a bodycount.
This certainly pushes back on the metanarrative of the Federation and the implication of limitless resources. Although that has always been exaggerated. There’s material abundance enough to provide everyone who doesn’t intentionally seek to rough it on a colony with a comfortable life, even if you’re a disgraced former attache to an embittered former hero turned recluse. What there isn’t enough of is whatever handwavium and skilled personnel are needed to snap one’s fingers and produce a new rescue fleet without depriving others of humanitarian relief and protection.
Again, that assumes we steelman Clancy. There is a lot of narrative weight pushing us to trust Picard’s assessment of the situation post-Mars: he is the hero after all. The hostile interview of the first episode was loaded with a lot of not so subtle triggers for humanitarian minded viewers that seem very intentionally designed to place them in the emotional space of that creeping dread that empathy is dead, having been replaced by an unapologetically narrower conception of who is deserving of respect, comfort, and even life.
However, I think that given Picard the character will spend the first five episodes questioning his own place in the narrative of his life and the lives of others, I think the Federation as a character is owed a serious examination of whether we should simply throw out everything else we have ever known about the society the first time someone is rude to a father figure to many of us.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the Federation was actually in the right to leave the Romulans twisting in the wind. It wouldn’t be the first time a judgment on which many, which few, and what needs results in painful and potentially unvirtuous choices: just ask the Maquis.
Radical Kindness in a Dark World
If I could sum up the theme of Picard the series, this would be it. In the very first episode Picard the character is moved from despair to man of action by the opportunity to help a troubled soul.
This message is something I think that really got lost. The part of the audience that was offended by the callousness of the Interviewer and Clancy and the implication that to be risk averse and reluctant to risk being the frog in the story of the scorpion and the frog was already primed to be irked by this theme.
I suspect that the element of the audience that felt itself keenly under threat by forces outside the Star Trek setting that the series was gesturing at may also have missed this theme in their annoyance at sci fi Paladin, Jean luc Picard, being portrayed as defeated, depressed, and content to marinade in luxurious misery.
Quite a few people seem to react poorly to being told that a minimum level of mercy extended to a known villain might be virtuous and a long term investment that might create conditions of real peace.
Nor does anyone like being accused of sequestering themselves in comfort and nursing their grief when direct and easy solutions to vast and pernicious problems don’t miraculously appear.
So in this way, Picard called out a lot of its potential audience practically in the first episode.
These are hard questions to grapple with and I don’t want to trivialize them. When do we risk our safety to take advantage of an opportunity to end a conflict, make an ally, or even to simply show mercy with no expectation of benefit?
We can't know with certainty when we're playing the part of the frog in the parable of the scorpion and the frog after all. Read that again with different emphasis.
How harshly should we judge others or ourselves for not being able to imagine a better world or being unable to find the steps we could take to make it happen when the easy steps like voting, protesting, signing a petition, or threatening to resign fail?
If TNG primed us to expect simple answers, those aren’t found in Season One. There is a mostly self consistent moral clarity that mercy and kindness are praiseworthy but the show’s world building doesn’t support the idea that these are always going to lead to just outcomes.
The people who adhere to these ideals are generally, in my opinion, the more fun hang but whether they’re always right or not according to the narrative is troublingly ambiguous at times.
I have a suspicion that part of what appeals to people about Season Three, aside from the fact it brought back beloved and relatively uncomplicated legacy characters and largely benched the characters invented for the show, is that the morality of the show is just generally way less ambiguous. Unless you’re taking Shaw seriously that is.
Notably, the show by the end of episode five does step on this message just a bit. The midpoint of the season leaves us weighing whether or not Seven executing a gangster notorious for chopping up liberated Borg is harm reduction or a reduction of her humanity. The implications of this I found rather uncomfortable for the way the bleaker side of the scale seemed to have a lot more narrative weight.
Character Housekeeping
I have largely not really discussed Jurati, Rios, Elnor, Soji, and Narek up to this point. The reasons for this are relatively straightforward. None of them have really done anything that I feel the need to explore more deeply. This is not necessarily a dismissal of the characters, if you adore them we are not enemies, I’m simply just less interested in them than other topics at this point in the season.
Rios is a fun character and I love his holograms….and that’s about it. Up to this point he is interesting in terms of his relationship to Picard and what it says about Picard that he can clock a troubled ex-Starfleet officer within a minute of meeting them and, like Raffi, Picard seems to be inexorably drawn to people he can try to remold in his image.
Elnor is himself not very interesting to me, I don’t dislike the character, but he seems to function mostly as a narrative device to illustrate Picard’s failings after Mars and his tendency to struggle with expressing authentic emotions rather than praising people in the modality of a performance evaluation. He is also, if I recall, rather underutilized and developed as his own person going forward. He is almost entirely muscle and comic relief in episode five instead of making any meaningful connections to any other characters.
Soji was originally interesting the first time I watched the series largely because of the mystery she represented but I know the ending already. The character herself doesn’t provoke any response from me. That doesn’t invalidate someone else’s experience and if someone wants to write up a comprehensive analysis of Soji’s identity crisis as a metaphor for dysphoria or whatever, have at it. That’s not really my wheelhouse though and I’m content to let the people for whom that is a passion project do it infinitely better than I ever could.
I may revisit Soji later because I am still troubled by her and Dahj’s story due to being somewhat unconvinced that it was necessary to conceal their memories and identities from themselves. It's unclear to me if there was a plan in place to recover them and then permit their true selves to reemerge in a gentler, more compassionate way after their mission was complete.
I’m far more sympathetic to Jurati this time around because I think her performance of being deeply disturbed by the Admonition is well done, but like Soji, at this point in the narrative I just don’t see anything I really care to talk about in any greater depth aside from observing that Jurati is a good surrogate for a particular kind of fan. Her performance of being unmoored by Oh’s psychic shenanigans was strong, but on a meta level if you feel like Maddox’s death was largely for shock value and unnecessary “edge” then I’m moderately sympathetic to you.
Screw Narek and his affected mental distress and gaslighting and double dumbass on his weird sister. I still don’t know who thought the implied incest stuff was a good idea or if there’s just something I’m missing, but its incredibly distracting.
Unanswered Questions
What is Seven’s arc like for the rest of the season? I don’t actually remember. Oh I remember what she does, I just don’t remember how it feels and to what degree it moves her closer to the less rampagey version who seems to be clinging harder to her humanity in Season Three.
What was the Synth plan? As Agnes notes, Maddox got a little “secret planny” so does this mean that no one else was in the loop for the plan to send Soji and Dahj out to uncover the truth behind the attack on Mars and the subsequent Synth ban and thus Maddox’s death screwed everything up? Was there a plan to recover them and restore their identities without the need for the traumatic rediscovery of their true selves through crisis and stress?
After Seven decided to solve her own personal trolley problem through summary vaporization, where does that leave the default moral assumptions for Star Trek Picard? Is this still a show where what is good is what is just or is virtue a luxury and justice is liquidating a mass murderer who can’t be practically brought to justice?
Is everyone, both the characters and the fandom, right about the Federation? Has it been irredeemably debased? Or is Picard, the character right, and what’s needed is to find the right sort of appeal to conscience?
For more like this check out my other essays reevaluating Star Trek Picard and interrogating the widely held fandom criticism that Picard made the Federation into a Dystopia.

Avenged Sevenfold’s Life is But a Dream Tour
Avenged Sevenfold is a band I’ve followed and listened to for a long time. From their early years until now, they have evolved collectively as a band, overcoming many hurdles over the years, and also evolved their music simultaneously.
Being a member of their NFT token club, the Deathbats Club, or the DBC, I knew I had no choice but to jump at the opportunity to photograph them during their stop on the Life Is But A Dream tour. For those of you who have no clue about the DBC, I’ll drop some helpful information at the end of this article.
Their opening act was Kim Dracula. There’s no better way to explain Kim’s music than saying this is just the beginning for him. While still very fresh on the scene, his potential is limitless. You could describe him as similar to a fine wine, one could say. He will only get better and better with time. If you think he’s a sleeper, you’re wrong. This Australian act will be a top contender in a few years!
Kim Dracula is an Australian alternative/indie music artist whose songs have achieved popularity on TikTok.
Following behind was another artist I’ve listened to for a long time and this would be Ronnie Radke’s Falling in Reverse. Ronnie has a truly unique perspective when it comes to music and it’s brilliant. Falling in Reverse continues to bend genres and isn’t defined to any type of music. His vision is his vision and the passion spills into the crowd with every note. Love him or hate him, as most people do one of those, you can’t deny that he has an extreme amount of talent and passion. The music scene and the world needs more of Ronnie, a genuine person who speaks their mind and continues to break the norms. The highlight of the show wasn’t him playing “Popular Monster” or “The Drug In Me Is You,” rather than when he split the pit wide open, hyped everyone up to go hard, and then sang Smash Mouth’s “All-Star!” Ronnie has a vision that is beautiful and insane.
The chair emerges and a spotlight beams down as M Shadows, draped in his “Nobody” ski mask, is sitting observing the crowd work into a small frenzy. “Game Over” and “Mattel” began and blended into each other. The best part of Game Over is the old-school hardcore punk feel it gives off, no doubt a tribute to Brooks Wackerman’s, Avenged Sevenfold’s drummer, legendary past bands within the punk scene. Most people disliked the new album from Avenged Sevenfold, but those people failed to see their vision. It’s about really pushing the envelope on music and their capabilities as artists. It’s about writing meaningful lyrics, it’s about topics they’re passionate about, and it’s about them producing an album that they love. Any band can regurgitate the same sound over and over, failing to evolve or change direction, and some do. While this album wasn’t for everyone, you can tell it was for them and the fans who just love all kinds of music. My favorite part of it all is that you can see how much they love to play this album. M Shadows looks like he’s constantly having a blast on stage. When an artist truly loves what they’re playing and it translates to live concerts, there’s no doubt that the audience feels it too.
While many old-school fans teared up during “So Far Away,” especially with a silhouette of their late drummer, The Rev, it was evident that there were a lot of new fans within the crowd. The largest burst of excitement from the entire night rang out when the iconic warbling sound, for a lack of better words, bellowed to mark the beginning of “Nobody.”
For those of you who aren’t familiar with NFTs asor anything involving web3, that makes two of us. I’m not a cryptobro or an expert on the subject, but I do know about the DBC. While some NFTs are just JPEGs as some may say, the DBC is much more. They have perks or utilities attached to each one of them. What that means is that every Deathbat within the club has basic perks of skipping the line at every headlining show, exclusive DBC merch, and giveaways for members only and that’s every Deathbat. There are Deathbats that are rarer and more expensive and come with even more perks like meet and greet access for life, free tickets for life, limited merch drops, or even coffee with Brooks or golfing with M. Shadows. You can purchase DBC tokens on Coinbase NFT here!
The best part of the DBC is how active the band is within the Avenged Sevenfold Discord, especially M Shadows. He’s always in the Discord channel interacting with fans and he’s always lurking. Within the Discord channel, you can find the Token Hub,” which is where you can ask anyone about how to purchase a DBC token if you’re on the fence or don’t know how to. Their Discord channel is really a one-stop shop for everything associated with the band, whether it is their march, tour dates, Drinks with Johnny, or anything else. The DBC acts like a family, queue “Welcome to the Family,” and it operates as such as well. Whether you want to purchase a Deathbat, that’s up to you, but giving the exclusive merch and skip-the-line perks alone is enough for me, hence why I own several DBC tokens, but being a fan is more than enough for the band and their 3rd leg of the Life Is But A Dream tour is rolling out next year, so make sure you check them out near you!

For Wednesday, the 25th
In the morning on Wednesday the moon in Pisces forms a wide conjunction with Jupiter, which could bring about expansion of the emotions and a general sense of acceptance when it comes to feeling. We could feel positively connected to heightened emotions on this day. For a bit, Jupiter in Aries casts its energy of optimism and good faith over the moon in Pisces, which could be an interesting melding of bold and dreamy energies. During this aspect the moon is sextiling Pluto, which brings in a desire for depth, “shapeshifting” certain concerns and intimacy, mixed with the exploratory vibes coming from Jupiter. As the moon goes into Aries we may feel more connected to an inner spark and generally feel ready to take on the world. Jupitarian energy is limitless and helps us take leaps of blind faith when we need to. We may feel the need to do something new and interesting on this day.
On Wednesday the moon enters a sextile with the sun in Aquarius. This could bring an extra dose of energy and feelings of wellbeing and alignment. The sun working harmoniously with the moon represents a sense of belonging and balance. Coupling such nicety with Jupiter’s positive energy could make for a relatively peaceful and smooth evening. The moon in Aries harmoniously aspecting Jupiter, and the sun in Aquarius, can help us to feel brave when it comes to connectivity. This is a decent aspect for a night out, or just any venture that takes one away from isolation and shyness.
The sun in Aquarius goes into a sextile with Jupiter in the evening, bringing us potential for enlightened perspectives and true connection to the bigger picture, as well as a clearer vantage of the future; with its sextile to Jupiter comes positive experiences related to how we meld with the collective as a whole. It’s the understanding of self versus other, in ways that are inspiring and expansive (Jupiter). Overall this aspect can bring great periods of alignment and the increasing of valuable understandings about life and our role in it. It’s quite a philosophical aspect.
