He doesn't think it would work on John, to be fair, but it made his skin feel tight and itchy wearing it.

   Hanma quirks a brow at Ran’s decision to sit beside him without any clear reason, noting the oddity of the behavior. But he does not budge or look alarmed by it either in the way most would. He’s no skittish creature and unlike others, the reputation of either of the brothers seems to hold no weight in the eyes of the reaper. At best, he looks like a beast on the plains that’s mildly intrigued at something that has its attention. That is not to say Hanma is careless. Sharp eyes shift to scan for the second brother, but it seems rindou is absent. So it is just Ran he needs to focus on rather than keeping his attention on both brothers. Interesting...and something to be cautious of.

   (  People tended to forget that Hanma was no fool, that he was sharper than his reckless attitude might make people presume.  )

   “  Well, isn’t this a surprise?  “  Hanma speaks first with a lazy grin of greeting. He doesn’t care about people invading his space, and if Ran is hoping for that to be enough, it’s a tragic fail. He’s not one of those cocky bastards who can’t handle what they dish out. And Ran’s penchant for making people’s skin crawl and hitting isn’t news to him. Ran likes to mess people up, hit in weak spots. So it’s odd he comes to Hanma if he’s looking to get some kicks. Especially when Hanma takes delight in the other’s apparent dislike of him.

   What the fuck.

   Hanma’s brows furrow as he sees Ran lift his arm and cozy up against his chest with his arms wrapped like a snare. Ran was.....cuddling him? His lip curls is a disgusted sneer to meet that smirk.  “  The fuck? Did someone manage to drug your drink or some shit?  “

   He hates this. Fucking people was one thing. Hanma didn’t do cuddling. Not for people he slept with and definitely not for this. Punishment lifts to grasp the smaller man’s jaw and as he examines his face for a second, neither betraying if he actually believes Ran is drugged (he doesn’t) or just commits to the bit. ( Another he might have grabbed with enough force to bruise. Ran he does not - if only because even he knows that’s pushing a line. Surprisingly, Hanma does know how to be a team player when in the situation. ) He refuses to be squirming prey for anyone, but his displeasure is evident in his expression from his eyes to the curl of his lip.

   “  Go cuddle Izana or your brother if you want cuddles.  “  He retorts,  “  If you want my attention that badly, there’s better ways.  “  Which isn’t the point of this and he damn well knows it. But the longer this draws out the more insufferable it is, like a remora attached to a shark. Not because it’s Ran, but because it’s cuddling.

having good & true friends will literally save and protect you in a million unfathomable ways. like okay we have written so many times about lovers. but the way a platonic friend laughs and cries with you. the way they hold your hand at 14 years old and at 34. the way they keep a little silver tie to you, touching base over and over and over. how you can go years without talking, only to re-meet and discover: oh shit! you're still cool!

there are people who have been in my life for more than half of it, and i have loved every version of them. do you know how fucking beautiful that is. yeah love will save the world. but the way friends love you is gonna save the you.

What I liked best about Jinx and Sevika's first post-Silco talk was how well it implies why their grief is so pronounced. Every complaint the two lodged at Silco was an admission at how dependent Silco had become on them, how much he LET himself be dependent. Silco didn't NEED to let Jinx give him his eye medicine, he was perfectly capable of doing so in season one's first act. The same could be said about Sevika, because while it wasn't nearly as extreme as with Jinx, he didn't need to give her so much responsibility. Frankly it's dangerous for a kingpin to give their righthand so much power (it's supposed to be spread around), and everyone noticed, even idiots like Finn.

That's why their loss is so pronounced, in all the years they dedicated to Silco, he gave up just as much of himself to them. Silco weakened himself and trusted Sevika and Jinx to make up for it. They filled eachother out, they needed eachother, and without him there's just a hole what they all used to give eachother.
