I've never been hit on before to my knowledge, so I'm just winging it here, but aahhh protective men. <3 I decided to add Shachi to this since he's started working his way into my circle of blorbos, so this my first time writing him in a romantic light lol. I hope you like it!

I'm sorry this took me SO LONG TO DO AAHH. I got back from vacation and life took over again.

Law

Law understands fully that his crew needs time off the Polar Tang every now and then, and that most of the time, that leads to everyone taking over a tavern when you dock, drinking their cares away while he watches to ensure no one does anything stupid. After the one time a fight broke out because Penguin unknowingly hit on the bar owner’s wife was enough, your captain keeps a close watch to cut off anyone who needs to stop before they do something to get you all in another fight.

Still, he has no problems letting you all have some time to relax and unwind, enjoy some drinks and the bad karaoke some of your crewmates partake in, as long as he keeps an eye on you specifically, Law is totally fine with the bar crawls that happen. He isn’t watching you because he doesn’t trust you, it’s the opposite. He trusts you more than anyone else on the crew, that’s why he watches you so closely when you’re out, to make sure you stay safe. There’s too many people out there, men and women, that are willing to lie or take advantage of you to get to him, Law understands that very well.

None of it has to do with the tiny little secret crush your captain has on you, nope. Not at all.

It has nothing everything to do with the guy flirting with you at the bar, it’s definitely not the reason his grip on his glass is so tight to the point you could hear a slight crack. Law can tell you aren’t entirely comfortable, by the nervous smile you have on your face as you inch back a little at a time, but the guy doesn’t seem to get the hint, moving closer, with a drunk grin on his face. Law doesn’t step in right away, just watching to make sure you’re safe. The second you let on that you feel unsafe, or the guy makes the wrong move, he’ll intervene. He has to keep his crewmates safe, small crush or not.

It's not even a minute later when the man puts a hand on your thigh, causing you to stiffen up, that you see the familiar blue from Law’s Room, and suddenly you’re sat in his lap as the drunkard jumps up when you disappear. Law’s arm wraps around your waist as the other guy looks around for you, too drunk to notice where you’ve been placed before he downs his own drink and asks for another, your captain almost sighing relief that he seems to be ignoring your sudden disappearance now.

“Uh, captain…?”

It takes just a moment for Law to realize you’re still in his lap, but he doesn’t bother to push you off or anything, not when he catches the eyes of another patron on you, instead pulling you a bit closer.

“Just stay here. I can keep those drunk idiots off you.”

You feel a bit weird sitting on his lap, but still nod, thankful Law watches out for you all.

You may have to talk to him later though, based on how touchy he seems to be while he keeps you with him, but that can wait. You’ll enjoy it while you can.

Penguin

Penguin trusts you, sometimes he thinks more than he trusts Law and Shachi. He knows that no matter how many people try to flirt with or hit on you, you aren’t leaving his side. You two have been through far too much for you to even think about leaving Penguin at this point, and he does recognize that.

It still doesn’t help the pang he feels in his chest when someone starts to flirt with you, even thought you never reciprocate and instead bring up your boyfriend in retaliation. Most of the time that makes people back off, usually with a dejected look at the fact you’re already taken, and appear to be happily so. Rarely do people try to push and tell you to just forget about him, and when they do, it makes you angry enough to start yelling at them about how awful they are for trying to make you give up the best thing to ever happen to you, it never fails to make Penguin blush and give you all the love and affection in the world later.

Still, this time, he feels like you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. An older man flirts with you at the bar, but you of course aren’t interested, making that apparent as you sit with her chin in your hand and barely respond. He doesn’t seem to get that you have no interest in him, even when you say you’ve got a wonderful boyfriend that you’re madly in love with. When you get up to leave, the guy grabs your arm and tells you to forget Penguin, which just makes you mad and your boyfriend quickly gets up to try and stop you from doing anything to get you thrown out.

“Excuse me?! I’m not gonna just ‘forget him’! He’s the love of my life, he’s been with me for years!! You’re insane if you think I’m going to just leave him because you think I’m easy or something! And another thing, I—”

“Okay, that’s enough!” Penguin hooks his arms under yours, lifting you up as you keep yelling and start kicking your legs, he gives a nervous smile to the man and the bartender, “Sorry about her! My girlfriend gets a little angry when she’s had too much to drink! Come on, sweetheart, let’s get back to the hotel~”

Even though you agree, the whole walk there you complain to Penguin about the man that was hitting on you, how he couldn’t take no for an answer, and it makes your boyfriend sigh with a smile.

He’s always the one to pull you from starting a fight, he doesn’t have to protect you most of the time, but he’s always glad to pull you away before you hurt someone.

Shachi

Shachi knows, he knows, that you and Sanji are just friends. You’ve been friends since you were children, your moms were best friends, you and the blond were just very close and spent a lot of your time playing together back then. You’ve told him, multiple times, that Sanji’s flirting with you is a joke, he’s never had romantic feelings for you and vice versa, you’ve always viewed him as a brother.

He just can’t help it and ends up giving Sanji the slightest of glares every time your dear friend flirts with you, even as you laugh and shove his arm, it doesn’t really help your boyfriend in feeling less jealous about it. Does he feel bad about it? Most of the time, yes, but he still ends up putting an arm around your shoulders and either ignoring Sanji’s comments or glaring at him to the point your best friend feels a little awkward.

Shachi is just very protective of you, even about Sanji. He trusts you, but he doesn’t want someone to steal you away and you’re the best thing to happen to him in recent years. You notice it quickly, when Sanji takes glances from you to Shachi and back, so you smile and tell him that Nami could probably use his company, which always gets your friend to throw his flirting and heart eyes to the true object of his affection, and Sanji runs off to her. You feel Shachi physically relax, still keeping his arm around your shoulders though, as you look up at him.

“Shach. He’s my best friend.”

“I know, I just…I’m sorry…”

“No need to be sorry,” you give him a quick kiss that makes Shachi bury his face in your shoulder and wrap his other arm around your waist in a hug, “Just trust me, okay? I love Sanji like a brother, but I love you.”

Shachi nods, telling you he loves you too, and feeling so grateful he has such an understanding girlfriend. He doesn’t feel like he deserves you sometimes.

He tries to not let Sanji’s joking flirting get to him after that, but it can be hard for him at times. At least you know it’s just because he loves you and doesn’t want to lose you.

Zoro

Zoro has never worried about you being hit on by others. You rarely ever reciprocate, only if you really are interested, and that’s only because your swordsman has yet to make a move on you.  Literally everyone around you can see the fact you both have feelings for each other, but neither of you wants to ruin your friendship, so you’ve not even tried to say or do anything to change your status.

So when he sees other bar patrons flirting with you, Zoro doesn’t do much apart from keep an eye on you. He knows he has no real right to, but he’s always ready to jump up and help you if needed, keeping his free hand on his swords just in case someone gets a little too friendly with you. There have been a few times he’s almost jumped up and helped you, but you’ve been able to shake off the people flirting with or touching you easily, normally saying you’d get them another drink but never going back. They’re normally too drunk to notice anyway as you sneak back to your crewmates.

That normally works, but tonight, it seems the man who’s attention you’ve grabbed is a little more stubborn than others. He sits closer than anyone else has, and keeps touching you, even as you remove his hands from you or shrug him off, he still does it. The man has no sense of personal space or your rejection of his touches, it makes Zoro grip his swords a little tighter as he watches. He really wishes he could just go over, tell the guy you’re his, and get you away from him. So at first he doesn’t, Zoro knows you can handle yourself well enough to stop anyone that make you feel uncomfortable, you’re not his partner either, you can do as you please.

But the second he sees the guy’s hand move further up your thigh and you almost seem to freeze, he’s up and by you in a second, pulling you out of your seat and behind him, sending a harsh glare to the patron that dared touch you without your consent.

“She pushed your hands off multiple times, how much does it take for you to get the hint?!”

“Hey man, she—”

“Leave my girl alone or you’re dealing with me next time.”

Zoro doesn’t wait for a response and takes your hand, leading you over to where the rest of your crew is still seated, placing you beside him and not letting go of your hand, even when you try to bring it up. None of them say anything either at first, until Sanji smirks just a bit.

“So…‘your girl’, huh?”

“Another word and I’ll tell Luffy the combination to the fridge lock.”

Even as they all laugh at the horrified look on Sanji’s face, you smile and look at Zoro, mouthing a ‘thank you’ when he looks back to you, before he holds your hand a little bit tighter with a nod.

You could’ve easily thrown the pervert that was touching you to the ground, Zoro even knows that, but he wouldn’t miss the chance to prove how important you are to him and that he can protect you from anything. Not like you needed him to show you that though.

John squints at the paper in his hand, holding it closer to his face in an attempt to make out the scribbled words. His brow furrows, and you watch as his lips form a tight line, concentrating harder than usual.

“Bloody eyes,” he mutters under his breath, pushing the paper away in frustration. He glances up at you, catching the way you’re watching him a little too closely, like you’re waiting for something to happen.

“What’s that look for?” he asks, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. He narrows his eyes at you, leaning forward, squinting again. “You making fun of me?”

You shake your head quickly, embarrassed that he noticed. But the heat rising to your cheeks betrays you, and John catches on in an instant. His grin widens, that mischievous gleam in his eyes making you fidget.

“No, wait a second…” he says slowly, holding the paper up again, squinting harder this time just to test his theory. “You like this, don’t you?”

Your heart skips a beat as you realize he’s onto you. John chuckles, lowering the paper and leaning in even closer, his voice low and teasing.

John tilts his head, his eyes still narrowed as if he’s trying to see right through you. He lingers there, so close you can feel the warmth of his breath, the smell of cigarettes and something distinctly him—maybe leather, maybe a bit of cologne. It makes your pulse quicken, but you try to play it cool.

“You’re daft,” you say with a nervous laugh, though your body betrays you, shifting in your seat.

He chuckles softly, the sound vibrating between you. “Oh, am I now? Don’t think I didn’t catch that little stare you were givin’ me. Thought I was squinting too hard to notice, huh?”

Before you can come up with a snappy response, John leans back a little, holding something close to his face again, as if inspecting it. His brow furrows with exaggerated concentration. You can’t help but laugh this time, shaking your head.

“You’re impossible.”

John drops the act and grins. “That’s why you like me.” He pauses, studying you in that intense, unreadable way of his. “It’s funny though, the stuff that gets to people. Didn’t think my eyesight was part of my charm.”

Your cheeks heat up again, and you shift uncomfortably under his gaze. “It’s not— I mean, it’s just—”

“You don’t have to explain yourself, love.” He reaches out, his fingers brushing yours for a moment, sending a spark through you. “I kind of like it, y’know. Knowing something so small makes your heart race.”

You swallow, trying to hold onto some sense of composure, but his voice—low and teasing—wraps around you like a warm blanket.

John shifts closer again, the humor in his eyes giving way to something more serious, more… intentional. “Maybe next time I’ll leave my glasses at home. Give you more to look at.” His voice drops to a whisper. “And maybe I’ll look a little closer at you too.”

You’re not sure what’s happening more—your heart pounding in your chest or the dizzying feeling in your head. But with John staring at you like that, you don’t care. You only nod, breathless, already imagining what happens next.

You slam your cabin door, tucking yourself in bed as your feelings overwhelm you. You feel tears building up in your eyes as you try to prevent them falling.

Unknowingly, you started to sob.

Annabeth had meant a lot to you, and she had said she cared for you too. If so, why had she shut you out, why would she broke things of so abruptly. It was like you were talking to a completely different person, her eyes had lost their sparkle, and she was nothing but rude and impertinent.

She had been so happy a few hours before, but you hadn't known what had gone wrong. Before you could think more on the matter you noticed one of your cabinmates stirring in their sleep. You decided to quiet down and sleep it off.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The next morning, you woke up tired and sad. A lot of your friends had noticed and found it weird. You were always so energetic and bubbly. Eventually, you just started to ignore all the worried glances coming your way. Until you were approached by two close friends.

"Y/n are you okay?"

You looked up to saw Percy with a worried looking Grover by his side. You let out a huff of frustration and sadness, building up the discipline to not break down in tears.

"Im okay, just having a bad day" you said giving them a tight lipped smile.

They didnt seem to believe you much as Grover placed a hand on your shoulder.

"Are you sure?" Grover asked, his voice filled with uncertainty. You nodded quietly and for a few minutes, you three stood there in awkard silence; Grover's hand still on your shoulder.

Grover cleared his throat, making you arch an eyebrow. He elbowed Percy in the gut, very obviously hinting him to say something. Percy grunted out, giving Grover a dirty look.

"Does this have anything to do with Annabeth?" You were quiet as you looked at anything but them. You eyes soon started to water as your two friends pulled you into a comforting hug. She appreciated them, but she didnt want anyone seeing her weak.

"Thanks guys for your support, but i need some space to properly process this." You broke aways from them, not waiting for a response.

Walking back to your cabin, you bump into someone making you fall flat on your ass. You apologize quickly to the person looking up. Only to come face to face with Annabeth. You both stared into the others eyes. Before anyone of you could say a word, loud screams were heard. You both ran towards them.

Running up to Percy and Grover, your eyes come in contact with a Minotaur. The stench of rotten flesh wafts around the air, making you scruch your nose.

The monstrous creature roared out, its skin rough and dirty. With its head bent low, and nostrils flared, it charged towards Annabeth. Without thinking you did the only thing that came to your mind at the time.

You grabbed a spear from Grover running directly at the half human half bull. You got on top of the wild beast, stabbing it in its back. The Minotaur started to aggressively move around, desperately trying to throw you off of itself. Your legs lose their bearing around its torso as your hands grip tightly onto the spear.

You hope for the best as your body is left flinging around in the air. For a moment it became fun, until the spear slips out of your fingers. You grasp the air for a surface, grabbing onto the Minotaurs left horn. The terrifying creature turns its head to the side, throwing your chest directly unto its right horn.

You cry out in pain as tears fall past you eyes. The Minotaur shakes its head in hopes of getting you off its horn. This sends you flying into a wooden table, breaking it into pieces, leaving you bleeding out onto the grass.

The last thing you hear is hurried footsteps and Annabeth yelling out your name.

Then everything goes black.

imagine him with a person he's never met before, showering him in so much love and affection.. he wouldn't know what to do!!! gepard is still the polite nobleman that he is, but his politeness keeps people at a distance rather than pull them towards him (which is understandable since everyone in the nation knows about his recent heartbreak). yet this person keeps approaching him. constantly asks about his day, how he's feeling, etc. and even offers to try doing his work for him just to ease the burden off his shoulders.

and it works. the servants are the first to notice the change, then his sisters, and gepard is the last person to realize that his chest doesn't hurt as much anymore, or he isn't feeling as exhausted as usual.

over time, he started avoiding the garden he loved so much because it brought about painful memories of him and the FL. the one time he visits it again, he sees that person watering the flowers that reminded him of the FL. they don't notice him, but he has the opportunity to see the way the morning sun shines on their disheveled hair and blessing their cheeks with warmth. the dirt on their garments. the silly little tune they hummed and the gentle smile on their face—

gepard knows this feeling blooming in his chest all too well, and for the first time in months, he doesn't mind being in this garden again

Hi, I heard that the donghua Athy will have prophetic dreams instead of being a reincarnated person and that Lucas will probably remain in his adult form all the time( I hope this is not true I want to see baby Lucas but considering the first pv, i think it will probably be true, hopefully not). I fear that their dynamic will change and Lucas is gonna catch pe*o allegations now 😭 even though they were two adults pretending to be kids.

The first thing is pretty much confirmed, going by the donghua's summary, but the details are unclear. I don't know if the "LP timeline" was only a vision or something more, it's too early to tell. As for Lucas only staying in his adult form, I don't know what makes you/people think that?

Lucas was introduced in his adult form in the novel and manhwa, and he is wearing the same outfit in the PV, so it seems to me that that'll be his introduction scene. I guess we'll have to see if he keeps his younger form, but the donghua's summary confirms that they will fall in love, so I doubt the chinese team will suddenly make it weird? (Especially when chinese media is heavily censored, which is likely the reason the plot was adapted to be less violent). Let's also remember that Lucas used his adult form multiple times in the manhwa, so if people disliked that, um, it's nothing new?

I know you mean no harm, but part of me feels like I shouldn’t even address this possible "discourse" because it's way too dumb. Some people have called novel and manhwa lucathy problematic before, for multiple reasons, all of them idiotic, so I'm sure they'll find a reason to dislike the donghua version too. I don't care, and you shouldn’t either.

We should just cancel Claude for the 1000th time.

Almost all isekai/time travel manhwa have an odd aspect since more often than not the protagonist is (mentally) way older than her love interest. No matter what, that's an element the writer can't avoid, but I think lucathy is one of the few pairings where this doesn't happen, because of their circumstances (Lucas slept for centuries so his body's age and his mental age are very different, plus he is a magician. There's no reason to think this will be different in the donghua. And Athy has her whole reincarnation thing. We'll see how that plays out.). Despite all of this, you have no one calling athykiel or other manhwa ships (I could give plenty of examples but I'd rather not) problematic because Athy/the FL is (at least) a (mentally) 30+ yo woman thinking a teenager is attractive. That's because manhwas are not that serious. Unless we are talking about the Princess Mint one. That one was weird and I don't like it.

Since Tumblr only allows 30 images per post and a daily pass based on how many pictures can be posted at all. I'll be posting this list through multiple parts starting with the worst. Get ready because there's gonna be a lot of negativity right now.

Starting with the tier I like to call "Absolute dog shit." Terrible plots, gross content being glamourized and little to no potential at all.

honestly picking the worst of the worst was hard cause there's so many to choose from.. and I think the title of the absolute worst doesn't go to Remarried empress or Today the villainess has fun again..

Its this one: beware of the brothers

I really can't say I was surprised 😭. I mean.. look at the damn title. The FL gets adopted into the family because she looks like the ML's dead sister and it just.. escalates into step-bro love. "But it's not related by blood-" still incest and even if they didn't grow up together, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO FUCK SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE YOUR DEAD SIBLING!?

The order of slave breeding

Yes this is an actual manhwa.. I genuinely wanna know why the author just looked at themselves in the mirror and said "Yes this is a good idea." As the title suggests.. it's about a slave merchant for a FL and her slaves falling in love with her and as if it couldn't be uncomfortable enough it is one of the few manhwa with a dark skinned ML. I don't care how many times they'll offer excues for the lead I don't fw slavery being used as a romance device in media.

I belong to house Castillo

Technically I didn't read all of it, I just read the spoilers for the rest of the chapters but to be fair, I just got finished cursing myself by reading stepbro fantasies and master/slave ships, I'm not trying to give my FBI agent a reason to search my hard drives. It's a basic and cliché found family where the FL Estelle is sold by her mother to her father and the ML is a 17 year old who basically grooms her..why? Because raising your love interest is the "only" way to make a story stand out amongst the other generic found family tales.

More cases of grooming except this time it's the FL as the perpetrator. ML looks like he's 8 but he's apparently 16.. so we got a groomer protagonist in the form of Reinhardt who also neglects her first child and favors her second child she had with her victim with the excuse of not wanting to care for her son being that he looks like her toxic ex. Lady what? That boy deserves his own villain arc holy shit.

No more turning a blind eye.

This one really dissapointed me 😔. The cover looked stunning, the artstyle while a little off was still eye catching and the title sounded promising. Nah this is a hunk of junk that had a gentrification plot for some reason.. and you were supposed to sympathize with the guy who wanted to render hundreds of people homeless to make room for art galleries or whatever it was they wanted?

The dragon kings bride

I already knew this one was probably gonna suck judging by the title. First off it treats dark skinned people like barbarians, the ML Hakan meets Lucina when she's a child, Lucina is threatened with death if she doesn't marry him and you can probably guess where it goes. Like I said I don't really have a right to be shocked but it still goes on the list for its weird obsession with Lucina being so tiny that having sex with Hakan could kill her along with a not so hidden pregnancy fetish.

I became the tyrants secretary.

Its just workplace sexual harassment, theres not much to it. Cannot stand the ML who is a basic garbage human and Rosalyn is a block of wood when it comes to personality. She wants to do all these things but she has no spine and no will to actually do them but at the same time shes so good at everything on a whim. I usually don't mind a clueless FL but Jesus christ! She makes Adrien Agreste look smarter!

The villains savior

Gotta say the artstyle is really pretty and the FLs design is so cute. Everything else though is pretty bad. The point is basically the lead Ezlay is trying to essentially "fix" the ML as the title suggest. A lot of people dislike this one because Ezlay is very emotional and cries too much but that's honestly the least of the issues here. Now to be fair, Aseph is a villain so it's expected that he's gonna suck but that doesn't mean Ezlay needs to have the personality of a rock either, it's not that she cries a lot that annoys me, she's literally just a male fantasy personified. All she is absolute patience and acceptance for what Aseph does to point of enabling that toxic behavior.

Now we enter manhwas that are horrificly awful, not much difference except these ones have a bigger grain of potential

Lucia

This one got a lot of hate tiktok so naturally I had to read it and yeah, it was pretty bad. The artstyle though just.. I'm sorry but Lucia's face is literally just 👁 👄 👁 and thats not even mentioning the ML Hugo. It's really crinegy and it tries to fill that void with poorly made smut. The plot is also really and I mean REALLY dead set on 1950s values for women and the relationship between Lucia's and Hugo is downright toxic. In fact I don't even think there's a plot.. it's just porn. The only reason it's not in dogshit tier is that it's so iconic for being awful that it deserves to be higher up.

When the villainess is in love.

Okay all I can give this one is that Libertia has a better character design than Lucia. She's a mary sue but at this point that's a lot of leads nowadays so it's not a total shock but this is definitely a case where the story would be so much better if it was the actual Libertia as the protagonist instead of a carbon copy of the ogfl taking over. Today the villainess has fun again

not a fan of the protagonist. Reilynn is really insufferable to follow since she's basically just an entitled asshole who thinks that just because she got transmigrated as the wealthiest woman in the land that she must be in the right because she's not like Iris who is a basic pick me girl. Beyond the fact that watching her throw money at people to get past an obstacle without effort she's also heavily written as a pedo because out of her options which had 2 green flags her age, she chooses the slave she bought who acts and looks like a 10 year old boy with attachment issues.

Try begging

what is with Solche and their weird obsession with rapist male leads? It's somehow worse then cry or better yet beg. Basically the FL Sally/Grace is a spy and when the ML Leon finds out.. he basically tortures her and SA's her multiple times and somehow they fall in love. Do with that what you will, the only slack I will kind of give Try begging is that it at least warns you of what your getting into beforehand. I really hate that Solches writing actually has so much potential to be amazing yet they use their talents to make rape fetish content. I want to know why manhwa tiktok likes this so much, they're all about girl code until a rapist looks hot (Leon isn't even hot, hes mad ugly)

Abandoned empress

Ah yes, good ol abandoned empress, the manhwa communities favorite punching bag so it's only right it lands here. For all the writers out there if your making a character you'd want the readers to support as the love interest you typically would give them an interesting personality and to tone down anything you think is too much for a healthy relationship. Abandoned empress decides to do the opposite of that and even after scenes of Ruve abusing his wife Aristia by cheating on her, beating her, SA'ing her, killing her dad, and causing her to miscarry so you would naturally think "okay clearly Ruve is the antagonist." But instead they pulled some bullshit "but he's not doing it anymore because he was poisoned in the last timeline!"... what!? Were there any new writers by any chance because how did we go from a abusive monster to a misunderstood Lil guy? I would say more but I think everyone already agreed a long time ago Abandoned empress is ass.

Revenge on the real one

the protag is essentially those villainesses in regression stories that cause the heroines initial downfall. I was already aware of what would happen before I even read and let me tell you it was accurate. The protagonist Helga is AWFUL. The torture she puts Hillian through is overkill and at this point Hillian deserves her own regression story to stand up to Helga because my girl was not that bad for her sister to ruin her life because of a stupid tragic origin story. The worst part is the Helga fans I see on places like tiktok who just don't want to admit their FL is a bad person. "Oh but Helga past was so sad! It's not her fault she's like this." Don't mean she has to banish her sister from her own nation when Hillian was innocent.

Villain Dukes precious one.

I really dislike the reincarnated as a baby trope and I can only ever tolerate it when it's just for a few little chapters. They always feel like those weird ass Elsagate videos with embarrassing humor to come across as funny and this one is no different. Even after the FL grows up the plot is still bland and cringe inducing. I don't have a lot to say about this one other then it is weird as hell. Apparently it also got a little incest-y so no thanks!

Poisonous Lily

While the characters looked basic in terms of design the title sounded intriguing. Unfortunately the translation is horrible, they can't even get the whole Lily flower theme right on the tapas version by giving her tulips to carry on her wedding. The dialog is..interesting to say the least. I won't lose it too much though on this one though since I'm pretty sure this is a lower level book trying to make it out in a sea of over advertised manhwa

I thought my time was up.

You know those porn/no plot tags on ao3? That's basically ITMTWU in a nutshell. Within only 20 chapters, the male lead Asrahan is already obsessed with Lariette after chapters of her violating his personal space to force a relationship between them. The whole magic plot is pushed to the side, Asrahans curse isn't allowed to be an actual rotting flesh curse like it's described as cause he's still gotta be pretty, and the rest of the plot is basically just soft core porn and fanservice that does little to actually move whatever is left of the plot.

For my derelict favorite.

The. Hypocrisy. How is this book gonna make the entire message about deconstructing main character centered morality and then almost immediately backpeddaling with justifying Hestia for attacking a woman who doesn't know her for rejecting her favorite man and proceeding to just ruin her day whenever she can. Hestia would say "im not like other girls." Hestia would be an avid fan of those trust fund baby GMV. Hestia would put her hair in a messy bun, shit on whatever is popular and act like she's making a statement . Even calling her Hestia feels like straight up disrespectful to the real goddess of the hearth who funnily enough is known as one of the most chill Greek gods.

Marry my husband

now Marry my husband is not insanely problematic wheras it's just cliché, predictable and in general pretty bad. It is a fast food manhwa designed to fulfill the classic top boss takes good care of you fantasy so naturally a lot is put on hold to showcase the sweet relationship between the central characters and almost everyone needs to have a lover. It's so bad it's actually kinda funny because the villains are so cartoonishly evil for office workers. Sumin is out here speaking in 3rd person, dressing in clothes found in the little kid section of Walmart and makes comical comments about her desire to ruin Jiwons life, Minhwan is basically a borderline discord mod who casually killed jiwon in the first timeline and goes "Oh well." and there's this random ugly old man who's name I can't remember who's the only one interested in Sumin till the end because he basically wants em younger without the risk of going to federal prison.

Remarried empress

I don't think i need to explain much at this point, if you know my account then you already know how I feel about remarried empress. Season 1 was pretty good though.

Divorcing my tyrant husband

I think we all know at this point that's whenever a title has the word "divorce" 9/10 of the time there is never going to be divorce and it'll devolve into the FL changing her mind and staying with her trashy ex husband because he now decided that Robelia wasn't like other girls and left his mistress in the dust. The plot kinda started getting out of hand when Robelias love interests expanded to one of her obsessed slaves and a Duke to prove that Alexandros was the better option. The villian Aisha is a joke who gets her ass handed to her over and over because "damsel woman always bad." and the art starts to lose its touch. I usually don't mind when artstyle changes but dear God do some of these characters look a Lil fugly.

Cry or better yet beg.

The final story that is in the awful section, why? Because it has the most lost potential. As terrible as this CoHo equivalent is, it details the very realistic parts of being a mistress to a nobleman. In most other stories, the mistress is an evil wench who could easily back out but in cry or better yet beg, Layla is unable to escape Matthias's abuse because it could risk her uncles job. There's a lot to this manhwa and novel that could've made a tragic story about a girl trapped in an abusive relationship with little help, the art is gorgeous and the characters for the most part were well written. It's a real shame that it turned out to be a rape apologist work instead.

next up are the mediocre manhwas, finally there will a little more positivity.

The villainess is a marionette

its.so.boring! This one was hyped up all over the place on Instagram and tiktok and the art looked stunning so I gave it a shot. This is definitely one of those stories that only got popular because of its art in my opinion because the plot is so confusing. Events are happening left and right, the pacing goes from too fast to too slow, characters personalities and traits keep warping, and while this might just be the result of poor adaptation her brother comes across as incestuous a couple of times. while Cayena isn't the worst FL, she's a mary sue by all definitions. Sorry but it's a bunch of jumbled wires. The reason it earns a spot in "it's okay" is because I heard the novel like usual is better so it might not be the fault of the original author

I was the male leads ex

It wasn't bad just boring but a little less boring then the former I'll give it that. The artstyle looked prettier in the beginning so that was kind of sad to see it change in later chapters. What drew me to keep reading was the chance that the ogfl Julianna may not be evil but even a potential love interest. So I got excited and apparently there's the idea that Julianna is actually her brother in disguise which.. would just ruin it tbh, there goes any chance at a ogfl being a human being and not a plot device. Not a huge fan of Erica or really any of the love interests.

From maid to queen

This is the newest of the lineup I read and it was actually interesting for once to see a new story where the MC was the concubine. First off the maids feel less like women employed to do the chores of the palace and more like the cartel 😭, in early chapters whenever Urania is aiming to be the concubine, being lazy with her job or getting comfortable with a powerful man in general they're already out with sticks ready to ruin her day and they even try to kill her. Lot of people don't like that Urania isn't a girls girl but honestly I can't blame her for wanting more out of life then poverty, where she comes across as stupid is that she's still wanting that role even after it got her killed last time. I think that it could work though since it shows that urania is more human and not a perfect goddess of a woman however that does not make up for the shit world building (like what the hell was that mushroom that could turn into a perfect still corpse of you 💀)

The villainess maker.

Ill admit I'm a little harsh on this one on my tier list. The plot still isn't great but there are so much worse out there so it ended up moving up on the list due to default. The plot is mostly just bland and generic down to all the characters and the tropes. Ayla is a girlboss in the villainesses body, Charlotte is a super "revolutionary" kind girl turned wicked wench and the ML is another "touch her and I'll kill you" type. What i will give the Villainess maker is the distinct artstyle. It's not as stylized and while it does get lazy at the end it still is very recognizable.

Abellas dessert shop.

Its another extremely underrated manhwa that's another isekai about a wronged woman looking to move on from her shitty fiancé and start a dessert shop. Ngl the moments where Abella is forced to put on a kind face despite her cheating fiancé or her ex friend popping in is definitely relatable especially in the workforce. Still a little bland but wholesome.

I didn't mean to seduce the male lead.

Eleanor is the FL hired to convince the ML to accept women into his life with the hopes that he will fall in love with the ogfl Irene. Tbh this one can get very icky with how it tries to force the notion that you must fall in love but the guy just instantly falls in love with Eleanor so.. I guess that's a little better? Regardless though i will not fault this manhwa too much because unfortunately the author died before the story was over so it deserves a little slack since it never got the chance to be more. Rest in peace author.

Who made me a princess.

Ill be straight with this now: it's Mid. Objectively the story isn't too terrible and I do find Athy a good protagonist not to mention my love for Jennete but everything else is pretty "meh." Not a huge fan of Claude from his design to his personality, the ML is another case of a grown as immortal meeting his wife when she's still a child (theres a little credit ill admit for Athy being mentally a grown woman but that doesnt stop me from thinking its uncomfortable to acknowledge) It can be cute sometimes and I'll give it that but I don't think I'll ever reread it, just not for me.

Actually I was the real one

Good god this was such a bastardization of the original novel. With that said I'll admit i was still entertained reading it since you could say that the novel wouldn't be an instant cheat sheet to learn what was gonna happen. Still it could've at least tried to be a loyal adaptation. They give Keira 2 options to choose as a love interest when she had none in the source material, Zeke is pushed to the side and the maids honestly get on my nerves with their one note personalities. They also seem to forget that Cosette is literally being possessed by a demon he'll bent on destroying humanity (which she succeeded in the first time) because what was built up as an amazing antagonist is just a joke now. The only other redeeming factors are that in the Manhwa Cosette is still alive and the whole elemental plot stays constant. Despite my complaints on the adaptation it is still a interesting read but the novel will always beat it no matter what.

I know it sounds like I'm just being a negative Nancy with all of these and I'm sorry for being so negative but the next part will be more positive.

* Legend of Shen Li is almost universally liked. I don't know that I encountered a real hater. Don't turn that into sky high expectations that can't be met, though. It's simply a solid xanxia romance with a very strong landing - 1 full length episode dedicated to the happy ending, instead of the xanxia standard 1 minute. The most high god in the universe x demon general who is engaged to heaven's notorious playboy that's terrified of her. and who is temporarily a chicken. (just go with it) The main couple have chemistry & are very capable actors. Rarely do I make it thru a xanxia without ever being consumed with rage at some awful thing the plot has one of the main couple perpetrate on the other... but this one passed! The main actress is convincing as an immortal warrior.

* Blossoms in Adversity is NOT universally liked, tbh it got almost no traction on tumblr. But despite all its flaws I found myself watching it eagerly. I am a sucker for historical costume dramas with feminist themes - if you enjoyed Dream of Splendor, this one might appeal. After all the men in the family are exiled and they are stripped of their noble status, the main wives, concubines, children, and servants of a large official's household have to figure out a way to survive on their own. Without the guidance (and yoke) of men. The strength of the drama is that it isn't easy - these women are not all kind & smart & selfless. They're complicated people and a product of their environment. But watching them slowly come together was so satisfying, and how all the women begin to explore an identity beyond the strict roles they held in that manor. It's so direct about how much power men had over their wives in that era and what that means for these women. The main otp will appeal if you like ships of 2 mature adults who have their own goals and respect each other as equals, who are supportive but don't step on each other's independence. The FL's practicality was so pleasing to me. It just dropped it's final episodes via Express.

* The Spirealm available legally now on Viki, if your tastes run to censored gay romance. And if you like mystery/ horror and like fiction that asks, what is reality (and does the definition of 'real' matter). Like in korean bl Love for Love's Sake, the protagonist enters a game world and ends up caring about that world. (unlike LFLS, a distinct lack of kissing with tongue)

* In Blossom - Chinese het web novel vibes just exploding onto the screen. Childhood sweathearts torn apart years ago, now he's a rich noble while she's poor but he still wants to marry her as promised. (She is less sure about this.... then she gets her body swapped by this crazy chick who really REALLY wants to marry the ML. who, ooops gets murdered on their wedding night.) So now FL is in crazy chick's body and the #1 suspect for her gruesome murder is ML, that childhood sweetheart who showed up out of the blue to propose. and happens to be the top candidate in running to marry the crown princess 🤔🤔🤔 . She thinks he (tried to) kill her. He thinks she's dead and hates the lady she's stuck impersonating. Spoiler: they fall in love.

* Amidst a Snowstorm of Love - Slice of life soft cdrama, if you like that kind of thing. Developing relationship for like 30 episodes about 2 professional snooker players. Relaxing vibes, sweet romance. They're both kind, talented, and capable. They're good for each other and really humanly awkward about starting a relationship. You don't watch this kinda drama for dramatic tension, you just chill with it and wind down after a hard day. It's baked-in that they'll get married at the end.

I'm immersed and a little terrified about a certain scene in pretty woman - you know the one, where Edward makes Vivian feel unbelievably small? Where you've already erased the insult by making it clear that Kinn doesn't care who knows he's a sex worker (kinn's nature, such as it is, probably wouldn't allow for him to use it as a weapon to shield himself), I do wonder if you'll include this scene anyway and destroy us or grace us with more of your own original artistry. Either way, I feel like your fic should start coming with warnings - I feel ATTACKED. I'm waiting for Porsche to save him now, for the hooker to jump into action and take care of business because why not. And Kinn, well..... I beg you to take responsibility 😅😭. This is so incredibly nice and just the fact that you took the time to share your thoughts/feelings about the fic means so much tbh. This fic has been and continues to be a lot of work but getting to share it with people really does make it worth it. It’s kind of like writing a very long, smutty meta on how I see the characters and what I love most about them and the story itself, so it’s just really fucking cool that it resonates with other people. And I love that we can think about and enjoy these characters beyond the parameters of the show, even in different universes like FL&H’s. Not to be a sappy romantic on main, but AUs are my favorite bc they’re a reminder that soulmates are real, that sometimes people fit so perfectly it doesn’t matter what world or timeline or story you put them in. They’ll find each other every time. 💖

(not that i ever rly thought theyd seriously blunder that bad lmao 💀) . so yea thats neat

i think story wise im not gonna say much of my thoughts bc unfortunately i have clicked on like. a leak or four. not the major stuff i dont think but enough that commenting on stuff w some of the things im aware of in the periphery is going to tint stuff . but im still excited to see where things go!!!

ACTUALLY i do have one more thing . so the multiple POV thing being actually implemented is SOOOO good im so fucking happy theyre committing to it being a thing 😭😭😭 like SO many story pitfalls can be avoided by just letting it be that TB doesnt need to be fucking everywhere a major thing happens as the centerpiece of events so we as players can see it. like it gives a way of showing different events and sides of characters in a much more natural manner its sooo good that theyre implementing it already. like this alone has me in such high hopes for the story going forward. like yea theyve branched from our POV before already and in penacony as well but expanding on it even more is 100% the correct way forward

ATLA rewatch thoughts, Book 3 (ep 1)

No matter how many times I watch The Awakening, it is so, so, SO GOOD! Every time! I have so many feelings right now 😭 Yeah I think it’s fair to say that it’s my favorite episode in the series...guess it’s no coincidence that this ep has inspired a number of my fics 😂

1) The Awakening

Aang wakes up in a Fire Nation ship and has no idea what’s going on...the confusion and fear, the aangst, the whump, the KATAANGST!! Not to mention Katara being so much more open with her feelings (she almost lost him, and now he’s finally awake 😭) and you can just FEEL how deeply they care about each other 🥺🥺🥺

Zuko is right to be worried about returning home, because he knows deep down that defeating the Avatar won’t make things go back to the way they were before. He thinks that not capturing the Avatar (since Katara escaped with Aang’s body) is the only thing that might stand in the way of his redemption and regaining his honor. But of course, that doesn’t ring true either, and he senses that. And I think this is why when Mai asks him if he’s cold and he goes on a brooding soliloquy (because all of the above are eating away at him), she doesn’t quite relate and tries to do her best to take his mind off his worries. Zuko’s thinking is starting to shift because of his experiences in the Earth Kingdom and the times the Gaang has offered him sympathy and grace even aid (Aang especially). Whereas Mai’s mindset is similar to what Zuko’s used to be - the conventional Fire Nation views of honor and reasons for fighting the war. To her, everything will be fine because the FN defeated the Avatar and the EK and Zuko is finally coming home. But Zuko has changed, and Mai hasn’t (yet). So there’s a disconnect between them...for now.

Damn Katara, when did you get so pro??? She was BADASS in that fight with the other Fire Nation ship!!

I don’t love that the writers had Aang talk about redemption and honor, since he has never focused on these things before. But I DO love that this episode is about Aang and Zuko both believing they’ve failed in a big way and are struggling with the meaning of redemption and honor, which they don’t yet realize come from within and are not determined by the expectations of society and other people.

Man, Katara’s tearful outburst to her father never fails to hit hard 😭 The way she is so emotional about Aang and Hakoda leaving her behind when what she really needs is them and they need her too...aaahhHHHH my heart!!! 

Also, when Hakoda tells Katara that Aang leaving to fight the FL alone is “Maybe that's his way of being brave,” and then the narrative goes on to deconstruct that (typically macho) idea by showing that that kind of “being brave” is actually empty and reckless....I canNOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT!!!

The way Aang slowly loses his hold on his Air Nomad identity in this episode is heartbreaking 😭 He can’t go out in the FN-occupied town without hiding his arrow with a headband. When he gets upset about the invasion plan, he tears down the FN wall hanging, which covers his glider on the floor. Then as he’s parasailing in the ocean, a wave knocks him over and his glider flies out of his hands. how do you rank law school among his dramas? i don’t love legal dramas but i love academia/school settings and i like the sound of his character and the sort-of romance/friendship scenarios going on. basically i’m debating whether or not it’s worth getting a netflix trial for it 😅

Law school is a mixed bag, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plus - Beom, obviously, and I loved the leading lady - both the character and the actress and whenever she shares screen with Beom, sparks fly. They have such wonderful chemistry that it pissed me off that, while a slow-burn romance was heavily teased, it was left inconclusive in the end. I will, specifically, choose to ignore one line Joon-hwi (Beom’s character) says in the end - it was bad direction because everything until then - his body language, his heart eyes, the way he cares for her, speaks an entirely different story.

There are subtle hints, though, that might lead you to conclude they’ll eventually become a couple, and my headcanon says they were totally married in that last scene which happens after a time-jump.

As for the story, it’s nothing great but definitely watchable. The first few episodes are jumpy, going back and forth in time, but it settles down after 3-4 episodes and that’s when the joon-hwi/sol-a fluff begins.

As for Beom’s character- he felt like a mix of Rang and Seung-tak to me - the perfect gentleman with subtle shades of grey. He doesn’t have much of a character growth, so don’t expect that. The FL is adorable. I’m repeating myself - but I loved her so much with KB that if he were to do a rom-com, I’d love her to be cast with him. And I loved professor Yang - both actor and character.

Every one of the supporting cast is good. Don’t expect too much out of it and just have fun.

BTW, for a legal drama, it has very few actual courtroom scenes. I don’t like student dramas because I’m too old for them and find them pretty immature but this one, I can relate to because the two lead characters are roughly around my age and the campus life shown here is realistic - instead of kids fooling around and whiling away their time (looking at you, BOF), they’re matured and responsible individuals.

If you’re going in for the romance, you’ll be disappointed because it’s left open ended, though you’ll have enough reasons to conclude they’re together in the end.

If not for anything else just give it a shot for these two - they’re adorable together

this feels really circumstantial a question to me. habitually, i do think catarina has a tendency to hold grudges if he's slighted in a way that matters. he doesn't trust easily and when that trust is agitated or worse, truly broken, i think it would take a decade before you really earned her forgiveness. but to his credit, i think it's really hard to get to that point? she brushes most things off VERY easily because there is so much going on – it's hard to like... get to that point in the first place, in an interpersonal sense. if someone pisses her off, she'll just smack them on the shoulder really hard or trip them or give them shit rather than like.. hold it against them later. she has Older Brother Habits for sure.

but say, if someone were to really hurt her or upset her (without like... VERY decent justification – because she's not without reason and like a certain fair amount of justification so long as she agrees with it will encourage more of a 'Okay. If you're certain you can make it up to me.' response), yeah, it would take a long time before she knew what to do with the urge to bite their head off. it would take some time.

also, i'm mostly speaking in terms of companionship and people she already cares for rather than like people doing reprehensible things that he only interacts with in passing/as the slayer for a cause. he will lop someone's head off and not look back (in fact he does do this.). Regarding HERSELF!??!?!?! Never forgive yourself disease 9000 years. no it's the same for herself. she has trouble putting down her sense of guilt that comes from... at heart, catarina is super open to new experiences. i don't think she would ever deny someone wanting to show her someplace or something new, if she cared for them and they seemed excited. new changes to make money or travel or do something worthwhile, all of those things appeal to him as a traveler and as someone with an interest in storytelling/architecture.

but i don't think he is always seeking them out, as someone who's a bit like... in their own world because of the place he comes from? he's a little more like. looking straight ahead rather than just seeing everything everywhere. and he doesn't really roll with the punches. he's very Choosy with the punches. After The Blood of Youth, I’m trying to figure out what to watch next 😭

Started and watched 2 episodes of Moonshine. Fun and fast pace. Adore the FL but found the ML irritating despite his cool intro.  He’s a stickler for rules in a way that’s annoying and ignorant, not in an endearing way like say Xiao Chong in The Blood of Youth. And so far, I find the SML Crown Prince more intriguing.

Started and watched 4 episodes of The Golden Spoon. Intriguing, but I’m also getting a case of SML where the SML is way more endearing than the ML.  He has so much trauma and such a manipulative and abusive family. And he gets jerk around by the ML and his golden spoon into situations the SML has no knowledge of and didn’t ask for, rips in and out of a loving family that he longs for and cherishes, then will probably have to deal with whatever consequences the ML left behind for him when the ML was /him/. Also don’t want to read English sub at the moment.

Yes, yes, yes both MLs will probably grow with the story and learn to care about more important things/have their priorities shift, but at the moment, they’re just giving off major I-want-to-either-slap-them-or-punch-them-in-the-face vibe.

Started a bit of the first episode for Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist season 2, but while I like the main characters and the clinic fam, I miss the case-by-case with the political fighting only in the background more than the right in your face political infight that season 2 is starting with right off the bat. I’m not really in the mood for political infighting right now.

Finished maybe the first two episodes of Unchained Love, but again, not in the mood for political and court/palace drama

Watched the first 8 episodes of Song of the Moon with my mom, but I don’t care enough about the story or the either main characters to want to continue.

Kind of the same with Light Chaser Rescue. I know it should give the same slice of live vibe like You Are My Hero/ You Are My City and Fortress, but so far not as endearing although I do like the second couple here better. The ML’s face makeup is just too white that’s it’s distracting.

Bossy Husband Who Loved Me & Secretary Bai Wants to Resign Everyday - started a bit of both yesterday, but not in the mood to read English Sub and they’re both too comedic and silly at the moment for me.

I’m in the mood a mystery solving drama, something similar to The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty or The Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty and so far Luoyang is giving me that vibe for the moment. Let’s hope my interest remains and nothing irritates too much like Moonshine and The Golden Spoon for the moment.
