dwampyverse orientation and gender headcanons
phineas - i don't know . in my defense i dont think he would be able to tell you either if you asked.
ferb - straight but in a way that makes people question him. maybe nonbinary and straight. he's gnc for sure.
isabella - bi. very vocal about this. has a patch on her sash for it. etc
baljeet -bi and an enormous chad when he gets older. has to fend people off by whacking a broom at them
buford - gay and and angry about it. now this doesn't mean that he wishes he was straight. he ACTUALLY wishes he was aro/ace so he didn't have to deal with any mushy romantic feelings at all
candace - straight trans girl. self explanatory
jeremy - bi and chill about it. a lot of his friends don't even know just because it's never come up
stacy - lesbian and suspected it for a while but she wanted to make SURE by dating boys first. hesitates to tell candace because candace will go overboard with enthusiastic support
vanessa - lesbian.... simple as
perry - canonically asexual and im fine with that decision. also transgender. he's narratively transgender.
doof - bisexual loser. nobody's doing it worse than him
monogram - cishet. is the most awkward ally in the world but he tries at least
carl - gay
linda - you know this bitch is cishet but shes WAY better at ally stuff than francis
lawrence - bi trans man
norm - he would try every letter of LGBT out to try and figure out which one he is and when he's done he just says "I'm Norm!"
irving - this kid is gay
milo - he'd just go with "queer" and call it a day
melissa - if you asked her what her orientation or gender was she'd ask if you were a cop
zack - bi loser (also poly with melissa and milo, since i didn't mention it up there)
sara - bi but she acts like a scene kid about it
diogee - he's a dog he doesn't really give a shit
dakota - gay.
cavendish - gay.
bradley - gay but one of those really annoying ones
amanda - bi trans girl. she went through at least 7 different crises before she figured that out
gretel - nonbinary lesbian...i just know it in my soul. halfway influenced by meli povenmire
kevin - loser bisexual. absolutely no rizz with any gender
fred - i KNOW they're a nonbinary dyke i just KNOW it. runs in the family. maybe kevin figures out he's one too. you never know
hiromi - cishet but she's cool
bailey - transbian 100% and dating gretel when they get older
hamster - it's the first ever gay rodent

50 milo murphy's law facts
5 not so fun and 45 fun!
Tumblr media
Not so fun to start!
The only Milo Murphy's Law official merchandise is a notebook released in Japan for the MML X PNF crossover.
Disney actually apologized to Dan (and I assume Swampy) for the treatment of Milo Murphy's Law. Dan has expressed frustration at the MMLs treatment before, citing the Hiatus between s1 and s2 and the fact it did not air on the main Disney Channel.
Doof appears in more episodes than Cavendish and Dakota in s2 (this is the real reason we needed a s3). Also, while PNF/Doof stuff was planned from the start, Disney did push for more PNF.
When season 2 was airing, new episodes would randomly be released in other countries.
Milo was cut from CATU due to a feeling from Disney that audiences would not recognize his cameo.
ok LAME ones out of the way
On the first drawing of Milo there are three names beside it: Milo, Mikey, and...Monty. As you probably know the Mikey one got pretty far and is the name used in the pitch bible (and was referenced with "I am Mikey!".) The reason Mikey was changed to Milo was not a creative choice, but because there was a popular YouTuber named "Mikey Murphy."
Speaking of, Milo was also just going to be another character apart of a different pitch, but Dan kept thinking he should go into his own show. He went to Swampy and asked him what he thought of Milo (at the time Mikey) and the idea of a show about Murphys Law. it took them about an hour to come up with the concept pitch.
You can find several of MML song dubbings on YouTube and other platforms. Most notably the Japanese version (マイロ・マーフィーの法則) highly worth checking out. Fun fact in a fun fact, Doof and Dakota also share the same voice actor in this dubbing.
In re-airings of some of the first MML episodes, second versions were made that included Cavendish and Dakota in the background.
Yes, Melissa was originally going to feel the lasting effects of the pistachion uprising by remaining looking like one instead of Bradley having his arm turned into a vine. This would have been a source of conflict for her in season 2, but in the end they felt it was too much of a change. As far as Bradley's plant arm it was originally only going to come out sometimes before it was changed to being a constant thing. He does have feeling in this arm.
The Island of Lost Dakota's was going to include a scene with merman Dakota's ("merkotas"). There was also going to be "mutation" Dakotas, such as ones with multiple heads.
There exists a live action version of the Milo Murphy's Law theme song. well, sorta, watch it
Before Milo came out Dwampy made the song "we're gonna do it again."
MML was originally set to debut in early 2017.
Weird Al did not originally come to mind for Milo. One of the idea voices they had was Noah Z Jones (Fish Hooks). They auditioned hundreds of people for Milo, but many had issues such as sounding too nervous in their lines. It wasn't until Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) posted a photo with Weird Al that Dwampy realized he'd be perfect for the role.
Sara is based on a friend of Dwampy.
In tune with the popular headcanon/fan theory, it's possible they did actually consider making Cavendish a descendant of Milo. When Cavendish was going to agree he also liked Milo, he was going to say he was his descendant. *this may have also just been a joke line
Milo and Cavendish are meant to mirror eachother in the fact Milo deals with Murphy's Law and Cavendish is the "author of his own misery" in regards to things going wrong.
Another thing they considered was the possibility of Dakota and Cavendish being in a romantic relationship, but they ultimately decided they wanted them to have them represent a strong male friendship.
The Milo Murphys Law crew did keep up a fanart and concept art wall. Here, here, and here are some photos.
There was a baby Cavenpus cut from final productions.
There are no official ages for Dakota and Cavendish. Dan has said he believes Cavendish to be older, while Joshua Pruett has said he believes Dakota to be the older one and by a bit of a margin.
Pistachios came to be a thing in the show because a son of some of Dan's neighbors had been allergic to specifically pistachios. They needed an idea for the larger plot and somehow those two came together. (Swampy also notes it's a funny word).
Several of the scripts for MML storyboarders included just the words, "and Murphy's Law happened."
Dan has made at least one Vinnie Dakota dedicated Tiktok similar to his Doof ones.
The Doof and Dakota lines were recorded together, back and forth.
Melissa was going to have a hamster nemesis named Ham. In the Pitch Bible the name wasn't included, but it's explained it was a pet class hamster that would always escape and end up on her things.
The secret handshake Milo and Zack do in scream-a-tourium was intended to be longer.
The studio executive for MML originally thought The Island of Lost Dakota's was a joke idea until he read the script.
There was a MML kids menu at Disneyland circa 2016.
Dakota and Cavendish were originally not in the shows ideas, nor was any B-plot, but being used to it in PNF the writers room felt they "needed something to cut away to"
Joshua Pruett pitched for the MML x PNF crossover for where when Milo opened his backpack to pull out the thing he needed to save the world it'd be...Phineas and Ferb.
Dakota is the reason parking tickets exist, as he can be a bit careless about leaving time vehicles all over the place. Dakota is proud of this.
Melissa's likeness and name is based on Dan's daughter Meli, as to sorta "balance out" Isabella also being based on his other daughter.
They considered a twist where Bob Block would be an alien wearing a face mask.
"Cavendish Farms" is an episode that never came to be pitched by Pruett where in order to track Cavendish Dakota would try to duplicate Cavendish, though none of them would quite be Cavendish. One of the Cavendishs would have a heart to heart with Dakota, while Doof would ultimately call out Dakota for what he's doing and tell Dakota "you already know what he would do." dwampy rejected this idea because this was a bad idea, to which pruett felt that is exactly why Dakota would have tried it. if renewed, pruett would have tried to convince them more on it.
Chop Away at My Heart was originally called "Jump Jump Jump" and was made for another project by one of Dan's friends. After Dan have asked to transform it into something else for Milo, Joshua Pruett suggested a "Lumberjack themed boyband" in the script.
unfortunate split for character block limit
Dakotas voice was inspired by Elvis Costello. It's also the harder voice for Dan in comparison to Doof.
Mark Hamill originally auditioned to play a teacher on the show, but Dwampy liked his audition so much they decided he'd better fit Mr. Block.
In the MML pitch bible it is stated, "Mikey has a destiny to fulfill, something vital to the future of the planet." The goal of Cavendish and Dakota would be to make sure he stays on the right path.
There IS a full version of We're Going to the Zoo, which was played by Dan in this interview at 3:00:30. Several MML songs have had full versions leaked, implying this is probably the case for some other songs too.
Like several other characters, Sara in the MML pitch bible was different from her show counterpart, being "a hipster like Thora Butch in Ghost World."
The song "A World Without Milo" is based on the song "Happy Together" by "The Turtles"
Almost every character, including creatures or minor one-offs had a name in the script. An example is "Pia," the name of the poodle Diogee falls in love with.
In regards to when Dakota talks about cutting through the Mesozoic in First Impressions and the fact it is illogical, Dan says this is likely just Dakota being Dakota (aka, it was a mistake), and not every such line should be taken serious.
In a deleted "Snow Way Out" line it was confirmed that the raccoon in Going the Extra Milo and Fungus Among Us is recurring raccoon.
Brick and Savannah were going to have a role in the crossover.
Story ideas from the MML pitch bible that never came to include a beach episode, a Friday the 13 episode, and an episode where Cavendish and Dakota try convincing Milo to take a self defense class leading to conflict with a hidden ninja gang.
For unspecified characters (probably multiple different sets) Pruett wrote in hugs that were cut by (mostly) Dan. In response, he says he "put 4 in so at least 1 stays."
S3 would have likely included: A third Block (yes, still voiced by Mark Hamill and a Block "family meeting"), Milo creating the universe, Dakota and Cavendish getting the promotion they wanted but being unsatisfied, Elliot cleverly being connected to the overarching plot, AU exploration (akin to pnf) including an episode where Dr Zone is real, and a conclusion to the Prof Time arc. The overarching plot would have been the "biggest yet."
credits to: danvillecheese for suggestions + encouragement, cheetochild989 for facts the fact about going to the zoo and a world without milo, the 2nd dimension on YouTube, my hamsterward friends, and of course all the talented people who worked on MML :3

Missing You
Tumblr media
Rating: T
Relationships: Heinz Doofenshmirtz/Perry the Platypus, Balthazar Cavendish/Vinnie Dakota
Add tags: Takes place between Escape and Milo in Space, Perryshmirtz centric, human Perry the Platypus, post break up arc, post confessional and apology, making up and making out in an open plan room with pre teens in them, everything is good and going right and will go absolutely horrendously wrong in a couple of moments, if you ignore the fact that they're all looking for a pre-teen abducted by aliens you can pretend this is fluff, OLD MAN YAOI!!!!!!!!!!, simp Perry, I was only meant to hurt you in the right way 🥺
"How did you know we were here, anyway?"
Perry had not exactly been hiding, but he feels found anyway, his smile involuntary as a kid who finds himself caught in game of tag in a school playground. Heinz approaches him carefully, arms tucked behind his back like he's keeping himself in check, so Perry stills himself, remembering that it isn't quite his place to reach out now, not anymore.
Carl, he signs--the C sign blending into the leader sign, pinching the tips of his left hand with the curl of his right. Heinz let out a little Ah, noise, and his eyes downcast. Like he's disappointed.
There is silence between them, as it rarely ever is, and rarer still the awkwardness in the air as they think of all the words they should be saying, that should be said, and how to say them. Perry consoles himself with the fact that Heinz had at least yet to leave, but he leaves a gap between them like a gulf Perry isn't sure how to bridge.
It isn't often that Heinz Doofenshmirtz is ever lost for words, so Perry--as he always does--meets him in the middle.
Did you get my card? He asked, because he needed to know. Because he'd worried about it endlessly since he'd sent it, because it had kept him awake at night, thinking if it was too much, or too little.
But Heinz smiles by the mention of it, baby blue eyes sparkling under the alien fluroscence, and all at once it was worth it.
"That you sent through Vanessa?" Heinz chuckles, confirming. "Foul of you, Perry the Platypus, using my daughter to send our messages back and forth like some sort of owl postman. She's got better things to do with her time, you know."
He did know. Vanessa had consented anyway, had in fact been loudly enthusiastic with the idea once she found out about their current disagreement, and had loudly scolded Perry for being a 'Dumbass idiot who shouldn't be keeping things to himself when they've all established the fact that communication was what kept this relationship from falling apart despite literally both of your entire careers.'
Having only sent the one card had been an act of restraint. On his worst nights, Perry had imagined breaking into the Murphy residence on the other side of town and crawling on his knees for forgiveness, but even after all this time, he was still too afraid of showing his belly even to the people he loved.
I did, you know, he tells him, because he couldn't let himself be vulnerable then, and the next best time was now. Miss you.
"Yeah," Heinz said. "I-uh. I missed you too. Probably Vinnie could tell. The kids, too."
Vinnie, huh? Perry teased, to hide the sudden heartache, and that all too familiar snarl of jealousy. Didn't realize you guys were on a first name basis.
Heinz gives him a look like he could tell, anyway. Perry pulls at his collar, blushing.
Sorry, he signs.
Heinz sighs. "It's whatever. We were just two lonely guys looking to distract ourselves from our missing other halves, I suppose."
Perry chooses to latch on to the latter half of that sentence. I'm your other half?
Heinz stares at him, his hands, then back into his eyes. "You're kidding, right?"
I didn't think, Perry's hands flutter, and fails him. I thought you'd, I thought I'd really,
But then it didn't matter what he couldn't say, because Heinz bridges the gulf himself, and Perry feels the kiss, before he'd even caught his move, and even after all this time their lips fit together like puzzle pieces, and Perry falls forward like a broken stone wall.
Missing you, he had written on the card, because it had been the most accurate plead he could think of. You were missing from me.
It's deep, but brief, on account of being met with a chorus of loud protests and jeers from their unwilling audience, and Zack Underwood yelling loudly, and pointedly, that this spaceship was open plan, people, come on. Perry pulls away first, chuckling and feeling lighter than he has for months, while Heinz rolled his eyes. He does not, at least, take his hand away now that it has settled into Perry's hip, and he feels so happy he could die. He buries his face into Heinz's shoulder as he scolds the children for interrupting an adult conversation, while Melissa Chase comments lightly that, technically, the bathroom was closed off.
"Bathroom for adult conversations, got it." Dakota quips, and Cavendish hits him over the head without even looking up from where he's handling the ship's hull control.
"I'm 14!" Underwood shrieks in an impressive high tone as Perry begins to laugh. Poor stranded boy in space aside, he thinks things are really starting to look up.

Ok I rewatched First Impression and guess what I'm having more thoughts about Milo, Dakota and Cavendish.
I already made post but I'll repeat it: Dakota immediately being protective of Milo when he first properly meets the kid. Amazing. But ofc going back to first impressions, he helped SAVE the kid YEARS AGO and none of them even know it. Not to mention Dakota being the one that thinks Milo is Just Some Kid while Cav is going crazy.
Then there's Milo and Cavendish. Again, Cav saved Milo and doesn't know it. Then flash forward several years and Cav hates the kid bc he thinks he's trying to stop their mission. Then he realizes oh no that just happens bc of something he can't control and he's just a kid. And then they go on a crazy adventure together.
Then there's Cavendish and Dakota. Jesus Christ what don't I say about these two? They way they meet each other represents their entire personalities perfectly. Dakota jumps in someone's car and takes it to get to food, completely disregarding the rules, and Cav freaks out bc there are rules and they must be followed. But when they see some kids in trouble they both jump to action to help. Then when they find out they're partners Cavendish says "when someone is in trouble, he's a good man to have around" AND THEN DAKOTA WENT ON TO LITERALLY SAVE CAVENDISH'S LIFE OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER AGAIN. HUNDREDS OF TIMES. And it was for praise or anything. He actively tried to stop Cavendish from finding out, bc what would think if he knew he was breaking the rules? No, he saved his life because "he's Cavendish, what are ya gonna do?"
Cavendish and Dakota came together to save Milo, and Melissa. And then they all ended up saving the world together. And none of them know about that past history.
I'm going insane.
Cavendish and Dakota are the best husbands to each other and uncle figures to Milo.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

Various MML headcanons of mine because why not
In high school, Milo is either the tallest or shortest of the group with absolutely no in between. Melissa is definitely taller than Zack, though.
Dakota has absolutely used the time car to go to concerts and has no regrets about it. (Personally I see him enjoying Queen)
Elliot, Carl, and Veronica were all in the same graduating class. Elliot was a bit of an outcast, Veronica was one of the popular kids that was nice to everybody, and Carl was more focused on academics than socializing.
No one in universe ships Dakavendish more than Milo. My favorite take on this headcanon is that he literally thinks they’re married long before they get together. (“But we have different last names!” “Oh, I just kind of assumed Dakota-Cavendish was too long so everyone just called you by your original last names.” “Why does Dakota’s last name get to be first?”)
Sara wants to be involved in the TV industry, in hopes of Dr. Zone still being on when she’s old enough to be working on it. I see her as a writer or someone who helps make costumes.
I could make a separate post for my Dakavendish wedding headcanons, let me know if that’s something you’d like to see.
Mr. Drako knows the kids think he’s a vampire. I’m still not sure whether or not he actually is, but I do think he exaggerates it for the meme either way.
I know I said no one ships Dakavendish more than Milo, but Doof is in a close second. However, during the time Cavendish was rogue, he was convinced they were divorced. When Cavendish came back, he would constantly ask “So, does this mean you’re getting back together or what?” Cavendish couldn’t stand this.
Cavendish and Cavenpuss do not get along. I don’t need to elaborate. Also I’m dying at the mental image of Cavenpuss getting punted like a football. (“Why does that THING need to exist?” “I could easily say the same about you.” “YOU WOULDN’T EVEN EXIST WITHOUT ME!”)

Haiii againn :3
Uhmmmm
I was wondering what your general mml hcs are :p
okay i think i'm finally prepared to answer this question!!! i'll preface this by saying i'm much more obsessed w phineas and ferb than milo murphy's law. i love mml very much but i don't have nearly as many Thoughts(tm) about it as i do pnf... even so here's what i've got
i'm not just saying this bc he's the voice actor, i think milo would listen to weird al. that and like '90s-'00s pop hits (basically canon anyway)
melissa has adhd and can't function without variety. she's always multitasking, fiddling, taking hard classes to keep herself occupied
definitely she's the type to really want one of those treadmill desks
that's part of why she gets along so well with milo, it's never the same with him. he's exciting
melissa is the most online of the main kids i think. she probably plays fps games and argues with people who disagree with her on twitter
i think melissa would be a vocaloid fan, lydia got her into it and she passed it on to amanda
btw lydia has been a miku stan since third grade
also melissa likes metal. i have no proof of this but i think she'd like it. good for studying
zack cannot stand metal though, it's grating and he can't hear the lyrics
on the topic of the main kids, i'm not super into shipping or anything but my philosophy is, they all have two hands. so casually speaking i really like the dynamic of simultaneous milo/amanda, amanda/melissa, melissa/zack (i'm not wild about them but if we don't go overboard zalissa is fine), zack/bradley, bradley/milo. they are in a circle holding hands and i like them a lot :3
however like i said that's just for funsies and i dont really really ship anyone there. i do like the dynamics of that particular arrangement though lol!
sara was a tumblr user during the equivalent of superwholock, now that that's not really a thing anymore she's gotten more into analysis and the more geeky side of dr zone fandom. she still watches the old edits though
okayyy i'm kind of obsessed w cavendish and dakota so they r always spinning around in my brain
i think brick and savannah are newer agents than dakavendish, which is why cav is kinda bitter. despite working for the agency for longer, he got stuck with the worst equipment and the most unfulfilling job possible
cav is probably a little frustrated at dakota because of this, but i'd think after so long working w him he's realized that it's not dakota's fault they can't seem to climb the ladder. they're just like that. but obviously he hasn't accepted his fate as we see in the show
dakavendish have been in the same semi-romantic semi-platonic situationship forever. neither of them has said a word. if they knew what a qpr was they'd really like that but they've never heard of it so instead they're just stuck Like That. hopeless idiots my beloved
cavendish watches ancient aliens and all those other sorts of shows about supernatural conspiracies. he half believes them. dakota watches them with him, ironically.
anyways back to the kids. lydia and buford met once at a concert for some famous orchestra, they don't really hang out but they email back and forth sometimes and exchange recipes.
lydia and amanda have been best friends for as long as anyone can remember. it sometimes seems like lydia is just amanda's sidekick, but she just prefers to step out of the way and do her part from behind the scenes. it's less stressful for both of them.
amanda hates candles. just can't stand them. they smell too strong, or never smell right, or they pose a fire hazard, or the shape doesn't fit the vibe she's going for.
related to that i think amanda has some pretty strong sensory aversions, especially to smells and certain textures
milo's backpack is essentially a pocket dimension. it's his hammerspace, so he doesn't need to think too much about what fits or not. he packs it every morning, but the stuff basically comes from already in that hammerspace. there are times when he packs the wrong things (which we see in one episode), but that's because they aren't stored in the backpack and are instead inaccessible to him
basically im saying milo is mary poppins and he can hypothetically access anything he needs at any time. issues only arise when he is caught unaware and unprepared, and that is very rare
milo and sara really like going to creeks. especially when they were little they would go to the nearest creek or pond and wade and look for creatures in the water
baljeet ran a boy bands fan blog back when the lumberzacks were active. he was shouted out once on their old social media and it's still one of his proudest accomplishments.
this isn't really an mml hc but baljeet kind of reminds me of a friend who runs a blog and a youtube channel about some really niche tech and programming stuff, and is also just a normal guy on the internet, so i think baljeet probably does smth similar
amanda and melissa have been academic rivals for a long time, but they have a mutual understanding and it's never gotten nasty. bradley thinks he's melissa's academic rival but honestly she doesn't see him as competition at all
bradley has a pretty big sweet tooth. i'm basing this off the whole carla thing if it wasn't obvious, but he definitely stops by coffee shops after school and gets the sweetest drink he can. ice cream fan as well
tbh i unfortunately do not think much about mort or chad. i dont have any hcs about them
same with the murphy parents :( i like them a lot but i dont have any thoughts abt them rn
elliot is bradley's older cousin who never really got along with him but their parents made them hang out when they were little. i'm going off vibes only here
okay so yeah that's all i can think of for now!!! i'm sure i will think of more later lmao but anyways. mml is such a good show

I miss Milo Murphy's Law :(( did you have any Season 3 ideas?
jsbfksjflls I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS ANON YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE-
of course milo and zack getting chased by something big and round in the first episode (maybe some topiary thing because it would be spring)
milo and his new telepathy!! chad feels kinda down and milo gives him a hug and tells him he hopes he feels better soon. joni is uncomfortable in class because it's way too cold and milo gives her a spare jacket. bradley is nervous about not doing well on his math test and milo wishes him good luck and tells him he'll do great. amanda forgets her eraser at home and panics for a second before milo, from across the room, tosses one onto her desk.
(and all the whole everyone's just like ".........how'd you know when I didn't even SAY anything" and milo's all "well, what doesn't kill you on an alien planet only gives you telepathy!" and no one can tell if he's joking or not)
oh and speaking of bradley: an episode where he and milo get trapped in a classroom or just have to spend the entire day together and within the span of 11 minutes of one-on-one interaction with milo he kinda has a "huh. you're not so bad" kinda moment. he even lets milo hug him for an entire 2 seconds at the end!!!!
for the sake of continuity some recurring character/s have their "a big round thing is rolling through the school and it may or may not be caused by my own actions so I need to stop it before things get destroyed!!! also 'just roll with it' is magically playing in the background idk how that happened" subplot
an episode with the kiddos (the entire mid-afternoon snack club group + chad pls) spying on mr drako (chad insisted) to determine whether he really is a vampire. in the end there is still no definitive answer and everyone but chad is tired
i need dakavendish follow-up i need them to be the biggest losers in existence with each other
they absolutely have to call each other "balthazar"and "vinnie" at least once
joshua pruett mentioned that they were playing around with dakavendish being promoted and actually getting opportunities to save the world but they (particularly cavendish) end up hating it. I need that to happen. I NEED IT. the angst potential has entered the room
ZALISSA FOLLOW UP!!!! a bit of awkwardness perhaps bc they are dorks. romantic directness on the same level as S2 milanda please
also more milanda more milanda more milanda im-
another school dance episode!!
zack has to take care of his twin siblings for the day and they want to meet the other two members of the infamous trust triangle so he goes and invites milo and melissa over. chaos ensues and by the the time milo and melissa leave the house the front section of zack's lawn has been burnt to a crisp and the twins have fallen fast asleep even though it's barely 7 in the evening
MEETING YOUR SECOND DIMENSION COUNTERPARTS???? since season 3 was supposed to be directed towards interdimensional stuff??
bonus points if dakavendish is canon in the second dimension
milo goes over to amanda's house to work on a project at one point and amanda already warned her parents about murphy's law and told them to baby proof their most prized possessions. they both end up taking a liking to milo and his positivity while also being slightly terrified of him. by some miracle the project does get finished but not without the typical dose of chaos and fires
an episode dedicated to bradley, mort, chad, and amanda and what they do all day when they're not actually part of the main plot
and more bradley mort chad and amanda in general I just love of all of them
more saneal!! I need them and milo to go to a dr. zone comic con together and dress up and be the gigantic loveable dorks that they are together
doofenshmirtz still needs to continue his professor time arc so he's still gotta be there ofc but give him less screen time than s2 pleaseeee. it's milo murphy's law and at the end of the day the focus should always be coming back to milo, zack, and melissa as well as dakota and cavendish
MORE JUST GETTING STARTED!!!
dakavendish finally gets that trip to hawaii
the murphys go on vacation for spring break and yet again total chaos ensues
more school field trips to the museum
for the sake of middle school shenanigans and continuity another sports-academics thing. I'm coining the term cherography (chess-marathon running-geography) but literally anything would be fine by me
the kids go to a public middle school so the inevitable standardized testing episode must be done
I'd love to see a school talent show or a school play episode (run by amanda and assisted by milo of course)
episode/s where melissa is just trying to go about her day with milo and zack when she suddenly disappears after getting caught up in the newest Time Travel Related plot of the week. zack and milo are confused until suddenly she and savannah reappear out of nowhere to deliver an out of context warning ("DONT GO NEAR THE DUMPSTER" or "GO BUY COTTON CANDY NOT ICE CREAM") before disappearing again to fix things
just more melissa and BOTT shenanigans in general honestly i love to see it
an episode focusing on the mml gals!! it could be brigette and sara it could be amanda and melissa and lydia it could be all of them it could be other characters but just an episode like that!
there's a mandatory science fair thing and milo and zack are partners so they decide to go with the most convenient option possible which happens to be a potato-powered lightbulb. somehow they literally flood the school gym with their potato-powered lightbulbs but as it turns out half the class didn't bother to or forgot to do their projects so they just take the lightbulbs and use those as their projects. by the end mrs. murasaki gives everyone a 'C' for functioning but unoriginal projects apart from melissa and bradley as well as amanda and joni
yeah that's all from me but first and foremost I wish mml would get renewed!!!!! for s3!!! usvfkajnfkajmfmalmdlanfms

So Doof in Milo Murphy's Law?
In general, I think Doof was as funny as he always was. He's just a disaster of a man with few social skills. He sometimes seems a bit more annoying or inconsiderate than he used to be, though I'm pretty sure the reason for this is Doof in Phineas and Ferb hardly interacts with anyone but Perry, who doesn't talk, mostly in his apartment where his behavior doesn't really bother anyone else. Doof DOES have a full fledged supporting cast so to speak (Vanessa, Norm, Charlene, Roger, OWCA, LOVE MUFFIN), but their interactions often just set up an episode or close out an episode. Not to say he doesn't have storylines where he interacts with other characters, and Norm is around often, but that's not where he spends his time. And those characters he does interact with are usually foiled to him in some notable way. I think the only human characters he interacts with for more than a few lines at a time with are Major Monogram (who is a "good" guy but a bit of an asshole, who has a natural chemistry than , Rodney, who often specifically riles Doof up, and Vanessa whose issues with her dad is central to many of her stories and has a lot of patience for him. And the kids on occasion, where I think we see many of the same problems of his Milo Murphy's Law presence. Where he's basically the kids peer and is often called out for his ridiculousness, and irritates a lot of people. There are characters Doof bounces off wonderfully and characters he just doesn't. Orton Mahson, yes. Sara, Not so much.
It's just that in MML, he's regularly interacting with people so his inability to function is affecting people beyond his immediate family. It's a bit less funny when he's actually interacting with people who don't deserve the problems he's causing. Or who aren't on some level, obligated to deal with it. His behavior is just constant Agent Doof/At2D behavior, but its now directed at characters who shouldn't have to put up with his nonsense. And it's also a little bit Doof is in a context different than the one we saw him than during PnF. He's not as certain about who he is. He's lacking a solid goal. Despite sounding like I'm complaining, I don't really mind all that so to speak. I mean, he was pretty good in the Phineas and Ferb effect in my opinion precisely because he had Orton Mahlson and Cavendish to bounce off of. Doof's still funny, he's still got heart. But I think it just makes the actual problem worse.
Which is that it split S2's focus. S1 heavily focused on Milo and friends, with the pistachio stuff mostly going on in the background until it became actually important. 2 plot lines (not unlike PnF). But Season 2 added a third arc in addition to the Alien arc that replaced the time travel arc, Doof's professor time arc. And while it paralleled Cavendish and Dakota's, it still took up time. I didn't really dislike any of it per se. But it was taking significant time away from Milo, and to a certain extent the dynamics we could have between Milo characters. I don't necessarily have a problem with the episodes, its just between Milo and Gang, Cavendish's escapades, Doof was just too much. We know (due to all the failed backdoor pilots in PnF S4), that they wanted to continue Doof's story. Between Doof 101 and the OWCA Files, they were clearly been thinking about a Doof who is figuring out how to be good for a while. And Doof, DID have room to grow. I do completely agree with giving Doof an arc. But ultimately Doof is a character who is far more funny when he's diluted by other shenanigans, or has good people to bounce off, and Milo's less erratic formula didn't dilute him too much. What I mean by that is we didn't have B (and C) plots the way we did in Phineas. I LOVE Doof, let me make that clear, he was always a delight, but I think I speak for most of us when I say I didn't love Doof enough to give up limited Milo time for him.
Phineas and Ferb had like 65 episodes in its first two seasons alone while Milo Murphy's Law had 40 episodes total. And Doof was a main character in at least 8 segments. Which may not sound like a lot, but half of those episodes didn't feature Milo. He also featured as a major character in several others. And unlike PnF where most segments were shared with the Flynn-Fletcher's escapades, when Doof gets a segment, he's often its sole focus. I genuinely think cutting down a few of the more repetitive Doof episodes or giving them Milo centric B-plots could have done a world of good. That said, I just don't care that much about Doof's middle aged drama compared to the kids shenanigans.
So ultimately I have extremely mixed feelings on it. I do love Doof. Him being professor time and Cavendish's hero, Cavenpuss, his role in helping the kids with the aliens. All great. But I admit. I don't watch the episodes featuring him nearly as much as I do the ones that are just about him and Perry's drama. I think it was something Dan and Swampy cared about. And I respect that. I get it. I could never hate it. But Milo and his friends are great characters who easily can carry half a show, and their extended cast are incredibly engaging. Between the rest of the Murphy family and the rest of the middle school there was plenty of story opportunities. Not to mention Melissa and Zack's families (we never meet Zack's younger siblings, despite their existence being confirmed). I think we all wanted to see something new.
I think none of the episodes featuring Doof were particularly bad but they all together did felt a bit repetitive when the unexplored potential of Milo was right there. I enjoyed Doof's presence in pretty much any episode where Milo and his friends also played a role, because his presence felt beneficial to the story. I liked Doof in the finale for example. But I also can't help but feel that I would have rather had characters like Amanda and Sara in it, characters who were a lot more relevant to Milo, even if Doof was a delight. But when Milo dipped out of an episode to focus on Doof that was a huge problem.
And usually I love episodes which let's us explore new dynamics. And let's make it clear, I like Adventure Buddies. But did we really need it. Maybe if Milo got another season. Because that seems like the exact kind of episode that would have come out of season 3 or 4 of Phineas and Ferb, when they had already worked through a lot of the more expected combinations and started experimenting with weirder stuff. That's when we started getting, all the AU versions of the gang, the episodes that shuffled up the cast and status quo in more unusual ways, and while those are some of my favorite episodes, I feel they only worked because of how much we already had.
There are definitely a few episodes I would cut, or at least would have demoted to B plots of some other episode. But ultimately, Doof's journey was clearly a story they so desperately wanted to tell, and he is, for the most part, a delight. I can't imagine cutting him out of Milo Season 2 altogether. It's such an important piece of Doof lore that I would hate to lose. But I mourn the loss of Milo (and Cavendish and Dakota) episodes even more. I really do have mixed feelings about it. And I can only hope that Milo & co make their way into the new PnF seasons.

Milo Murphy’s Law Masterpost
Hi, I’m Sam! I am a massive Milo Murphy’s Law fan (and dwampyverse in general, but mml especially). I write mml fics, mostly in various aus. I really, really, really like angst, hurt/comfort and whump, but I do also write happy stuff. Sometimes.
(I’m also so incredibly inactive forever rn I’m so sorry) On tumblr, all of my fics are tagged with: #I wrote a thing
Any fanart is tagged #I drew a thing
I also sometimes post pictures of miniatures that I paint, tagged: #I painted a thing Masterpost list:
Non Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/collections/mmlNotAu/works
basically what it says on the tin. Not always canon, exactly, but not an au
Fantasy au:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3258273
#mml fantasy au Set in a world with wizards, dragons, sorcerers, ghosts and angst. The main fic in this series is A Cursed Boy, a Wizard and an Human, which is about Zack, a human from the ordinary world, getting trapped in the fantasy world and trying to find his way home.  2nd Dimension Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3133029
#mml 2nd dimension au
Again, probably pretty self explanatory. Bucketloads of angst, Vanessa is pretty goddamn evil (sorry Nessa, I do love you), Milo is Sad.  Monsters Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3164559
#mml monsters au
whoa it’s angst. In a world where monsters like vampires, oozes and flying rhinos exist, a well respected containment facility thinks that Murphys are monsters. And they do something about it. This au also has a split timeline, and a few oneshots in spinoff aus. Incredibly angsty and painful, read the tags.  Dystopia Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3244065
#mml dystopia au
Milo and co are from the future, while Cavendish and Dakota are from the present. The future is dystopian, the corporation V-Tech controls everything. Melissa is a cyborg. The pnf cast are there.  Mage Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3164697
#mml mage au
Another fantasy au. This time, magic is illegal, and the punishment for being a mage is a painful death. Milo and Melissa have been raised by their mage parents, while Zack was born to humans and raised in human society to hate mages.
Counteragents:
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3192483
Technically set in ordinary Danville, but far removed enough that it counts. Cavendish and Dakota actually get a pair of counteragents from a rival time travelling organisation- which ends well for nobody.  The counteragents are my villain ocs Sally and Penelope, who are awful, terrible, evil bastards and I love them. Anything with Sally in it on tumblr will be tagged #sally, and “sally is back on her bullshit” on ao3.  https://archiveofourown.org/works/45343870/chapters/114080575 I wrote Cowboys and Counteragents with @hypersonicjd
It’s a crossover between my Counteragents and his A New Frontier (space cowboys!!) series
Ghost Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/43118494
#mml ghost au
Milo is a ghost who is haunting Zack, but he isn’t very scary.  https://archiveofourown.org/works/43696911 This fic is a spin-off oneshot, in which Milo is actually pretty scary. The Loneliest Kid Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/46438885
#the loneliest kid au
Also an ongoing series. Zack joins Jefferson County Middle School, and meets Milo Murphy- who is kind and cheerful, but withdrawn, anxious when too close to people, and firmly opposed to being his friend. Zack is determined to change that. A slowburn friendship fic.  Epithet Jinxed:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39095769
#epithet jinxed
An Epithet Erased au! Milo, Melissa and Zack get locked in the museum after closing, during a robbery. They have to keep the Arsene Amulet out of the hands of dangerous people, and stop them from stealing Milo’s epithet - Jinx!  BoTT is Evil:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/43541854
Again, pretty self explanatory. Currently just a oneshot but I do have a multi-chapter fic in the works to explore the concept more.  Soulmates Au:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/40933884
A world where soulmates share injuries, and Milo, Melissa and Zack are platonic soulmates.  Champions Au:
#mml champions au
Cavendish, Dakota, Savannah and Brick are ancient, powerful immortals. Milo, Zack, Melissa and Mort are their champions, mortals who save the world on their behalf. I haven’t written anything for this au yet

#7: First Impressions
Longtime followers of this blog will remember that this one was voted the best episode of the entire show. I think we can agree to disagree on this one, since I totally understand.
While I'm not normally too big a fan of backstory episodes, this one really turned the cuteness up to 11. Plus it was vintage Milo Murphy's Law, with the focus on Milo and Melissa with and minimal Doof Interference, which is always a win.
I liked how this episode sort of paralleled Going the Extra Milo (in that it was about Milo taking another kid to school in his own unique way), but made it about Melissa instead of Zack. I guess that's also kind of a two-edged sword though, because it showed that to be best friends with Milo, you have to go through a life threatening experience with him always protecting you. And I have to feel for Bradley too. He got totally shafted, so it's understandable why he would hold a grudge against Milo. (Although he did end up stealing the spotlight back with PnF's revival and MML's... well...)
Anyway. I'm getting off topic. The younger versions of Cavendish and Dakota were fun too. I gotta wonder though, how did Dakota know that the burrito he was about to eat was so good, it only exists at that particular time and place? Unless, of course, he was just saying that to sweet talk Rita into making it happen. And knowingly risking his own life for an amazing burrito? AND admitting that it was risky, but pointing out how it was worth it? That just fits Dakota's character too well.
And I can't forget the best screenshot of the entire episode:
Tumblr media
A few things here:
Zack is pushing Melissa off the platform while Milo is just hiding out, employing the "wait for everybody else to take each other out before joining the fight" strategy. I don't know why, but that's hilarious to me.
M.Square is Agent P. Makes sense to me, since Milo was the only one of the trio to work directly with him during the episode.
MC.Master is a pistachion. This is actually a reference to an idea from writer Joshua Pruett, where Melissa would have remained a pistachion after The PnF Effect. He said this would "show that not all 'chions are evil" and "advance her relationship with Zack in a sweet way." Eventually this was changed to just her arm, and eventually THAT was changed to just Bradley's arm. (I'm also pretty sure this is why that one giant pistachion went rogue and started a soup kitchen.)
And Zack is the most interesting IMO. He's a llama (or an alpaca, I'm not sure). I mean, he wasn't at The Llama Incident, but he was at the Llama Relief Fund charity race and the Forget the Llamas, Save the Alpacas benefit concert. But Melissa and Milo were both at both of those events too, so... not sure why that would be Zack's avatar.
But his username. Obviously this is after he goes through his character growth. It's exactly the same as when Candace and Stacy were playing that Ducky Momo game. Zack is extremely comfortable with this and I love it.

A small thing that I always found pretty amusing with Cavendish and Dakota : When they’re in a serious situation, talking with several people and divulging important information, instead of looking at the entire group while giving said important information, they have a tendency to just look at each other, as if the others weren’t there. Or at least, if they look at the group, they end up glancing at each other at some point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a way, I guess it kinds of shows just how used to work with each other they are. I mean, if it’s always the two of them alone while on mission, then of course they will look at each other when talking important matters.
This is also something we find in the way they talk. Overall, if you look at their dialogues, they don’t use each other’s names that much and instead use “you”, including with other people around. Like for example you have the ending of “Missing Milo”, during the car chase scene. When Dakota reaches outside to get a snack, Cavendish doesn’t say his name when telling him to close the window, so the kids might have turned their heads towards him to see what he was talking about.
On that same note, there’s also every scene in their “apartment”. I’m pretty sure the ending of “Abducting Murphy’s Law” is the only moment when one of them uses the other’s name indoors (with Dakota saying “Cavendish” a few times). But other than that, when in private, they just use “you”, which obviously makes sense given that it’s just the two of them here. But at the same time, it can show how used they are to be around each other.
Then there’s also the first time we meet them in “The Doctor Zone Files”, I think all of “Murphy’s Lard” except for the very end, possibly same for “The Substitute” (it’s been a while since I’ve seen this one), most of “Perchance to Sleepwalk” and the halloween special (at least I think for that second one ?), “A World Without Milo” etc... And yeah I don’t mention any episodes from season 2 because I haven’t rewatched them enough to remember how they talk, though I’m pretty sure “Lady Krillers” might be another good example. And “Abducting Murphy’s Law” in general too, if you remove all the times Dakota calls out for Cavendish in frustration.
.
Though, my favorite example of “Cavendish and Dakota forgetting there are other people around” has to be the ice-cream moment in “Missing Milo”. This moment is actually what made me realize how focused these two can be with each other during important dialogue, because a lot of people used this scene as an example of Dakota being a dad towards Milo (*cough* Dadkota *cough*) and when I first discovered the fandom I was always like “but isn’t Dakota asking Cavendish though ? I mean, Cavendish’s the one who answers his question.”. And the thing is, if you look at Dakota’s eyes, he does look at Milo when asking “You want one ?”, meaning that he did intend to give one to the kid.
Tumblr media
But because Cavendish is so used to him and Dakota being alone, he assumes that Dakota is talking to him instead.
Tumblr media
(dat pose tho)
In the same way, there’s also the S2 finale. When Cavendish complains about the planet but then gets motivated to save it, he addresses Dakota specifically.
.
.
Idk, it’s just a pretty amusing thing. And in a way, it shows just how long these two must have worked together and how used to each other’s presence when nobody else is around they became.
.
(Side note but the moment in the boat from “Fungus Among Us” is actually pretty sweet depending on how you read it because in that moment, Cavendish is starting to give up due to the circumstances. So maybe he’s looking at Dakota because he’s seeking comfort. Like, maybe 1. it makes him feel better to vent his doubts to Dakota 2. he hopes Dakota would give a few encouraging words or 3. seeing Dakota being there comforts him a little because it reminds him that he’s not truly alone or something like that.
On the other hand tho the moment from the crossover is pretty funny with Dakota literally facing away from the people he’s giving information to just so that he can look at Cavendish.
And in the S2 finale, the fact that Dakota looks at Cavendish while saying “us” about the ship makes it look like he’s talking about just the two of them if you don’t have the full context.)

Watching “Backward to School Night”, and there’s a few things I realized.
1. Dakota said “over here” when they walked out of the diner (directing towards the car). And even if he didn’t say it, their car was still there, so he would’ve gone there anyway. But, instead Cavendish proceeded to walk directly into the street.
2. What if Dakota paid the first time they went to the diner. Which lead in him not having the money to pay for the second meal (assuming Dakota would definitely choose to go back to before they ate). And that would be why Cav had to pick up the check.
3. Little Dakota’s lips form “I love you” when in the principals office. Also, as some might remember, there was little mumbles as he motioned that line. Plus, when Dakota says it, Cav’s eyebrows go up in a way of realization.
4. Milo was coming back with his father from the bathroom in the outdoor scene. And can carry four toddlers (though in “Fungus Among Us” he could quickly lift three grown men).
5. Cavendish is allergic bugdie/parakeet’s.
6. Unlike Doof, Dakota must’ve been great at the jungle gym.
7. Gently holds...
Tumblr media
That is all, have a nice night!
