Gnawer Culture

They worship a Goddess known as Fluma who controls the waters of the underland, there saying Run like the River to them is a great blessing as it means for them to be protected by this Goddess

They age slower than their overlander counterparts.. while they do become adults after one year of age and can live very long (Ripred and Goreger were born at the same time as Vikus and Solovet but are still considered in their thirties)

Their pups are protected at all cost, they don’t leave the Nest until they become a year old, they don’t get to even leave the nursery until they are 5 months old which they then get training and a main mentor (usually someone who isn’t related to them so they have loyalty to the whole pack)

While they can’t write they do have books themselves during the times they have peace with the humans, and have many things that are considered art

Their home is not called the Dead Lands but the Caverns of Darkness and actually has some plant life which their healers use. It is filled with many caves which seems to be filled with more shadows than usual thus giving them their name. It’s also fills with crystals and metal which they use to trade with the humans during times of peace

The Nest: where all the gnawers live, no human could ever find it.. was unfortunately abandoned after the death of king Gorger when the Pack split into many packs during the fight to take over

Ok I wish the wiki can give me a damn list of the beings that call the underland home because they keep introducing new ones in the next book and I can’t remember all of them and I don’t want to make a mistake

Abilities of the Underland- Gnawer au

While the underland has magic there are certain beings with abilities that are not the norm and they can either been seen as a blessing or a curse

Crystal Sight: the crystals of the underland are thought to be heart of Mother Gaia.. those who have the sight are able to look at these crystal and gain visions; the underlanders believes that Bartholomew of Sandwitch had this ability which is how he was able to lead his people down here.. and Vikus thinks that Nerissa has this ability as well

Rager: born but also made ragers are natural born killers, some ragers are lucky enough to live through life without activating this ability. But some are not so lucky.. after a traumatic experience a rager’s magic will start pin pointing exact locations to attack, they will enter a fog and untrain will attack friend and foe alike until the danger has pass.. known ragers are Ripred and Gregor

Scent-Seer: beings who have this ability has a keen sense of smell better than any gnawer, they can smell everything to colors to others own abilities.. known scent-seer is Twitchtip

Shadowstalkers: beings who are quiet.. you can never know when they are near until they speak up. They are perfect hunters known Shadowstalker is Claw

Honestly in the gnawer au Gregor relationship with grace… isn’t that good.. he calls her mom but is always afraid that one day she would give him up.. maybe while not give him up to scientist but throw him out

and before anyone mentions this is the woman who said to canon Gregor that too bad your friend is sick and dying but you aren’t staying here.. I understand her reasoning but.. I just don’t like grace and it’s not like she has actually been a mom after all leaving Gregor to take care of his sisters and grandma…if they had a farm in Virginia why not go there at the beginning? Why wait so long?

I.. I just don’t like grace so that’s going to show a lot in this fic

This is what I imagine gnawner Gregor to look like but with green eyes (I know rats don’t have green eyes but rats don’t grow seven to ten feet tall so I make the rules here)

As he grows older people will mention that without the white they would confuse him with ripred and Gregor is a mixture of proudness and horror at that lol

Because of a certain @yesthefandomfreakblr I have rediscovered my love for ripred and his son the baby rage it reminded me of a au I thought so long ago

Gregor still being the warrior still being from the underland… but he was a gnawer

Like his mother was one of guards that guarded gregor’s father (he doesn’t have a name fuck) and they would talk.. she was worried for her pup because I guess he was a runt and goger was cruel and all and he talked about his wife and two daughters and like.. yes this will be a perfect place for her pup..

Grace just one days doing the laundry and finds pup Gregor (how the mother got him to the laundry room I don’t know maybe a flier did it) and like maybe after screaming (because giant rat) she sees he baby and like.. whatever.. and even though he was the same age as boots as he grows he becomes the big brother just wanting to protect his family..and then he boots falls and he falls.

Overland is just confuse on how this gnawner wants to protect the baby.. how he doesn’t know the underland at all and just wants to go back.. but also not hating the humans or acting like a human..

The overland freaking out that Gregor is the warrior! But he is a gnawner.. solvet hates him and he doesn’t like her either but Vicki’s likes him.. how hard it is for Gregor to make friends with luxa but hating Henry even more because he smells like rats

And then he meets ripred… ripred shock and is like… mine now! My pup! Total adoption and trying to teach this pup on how to be a rat like boy stop trying to walk like a human I can see it’s uncomfortable

Just.. I don’t know a whole bond between dadrip and the rage baby who tries to be a human but is not.. tries to teach him to be not ashamed of who he is.. he is a rat…and gosh I was in middle school when I thought of this

Ripred: years of daddy instincts awaken at the sight… oh frick my plans have changed now wraps around Gregor it’s ok I’m here now the mean scary lady won’t hurt or use you

Solovet: glares
