Book Blurb:
From the author of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy comes a heartwarming fantasy with a best friends-to-lovers rom com twist set in the delightful demigod and donut-filled world of Tanria.
The entire town of Eternity was shocked when widowed, middle-aged Twyla Banneker partnered up with her neighbor and best friend, Frank Ellis, to join the Tanrian Marshals. Eight years later, Twyla’s rewarding career patrolling the strange land of Tanria remains a welcome change from the domestic grind of mom life, despite the misgivings of her grown children.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) a recent decrease in on-the-job peril has made Twyla and Frank's job a lot safer ... and a lot less exciting. So when they discover the body of one of their fellow marshals near an enormous footprint—and Frank finds himself the inadvertent foster dad to a baby dragon—they are grateful to be back in action. Soon, the friends wind up ensnared in a nefarious plot that goes far deeper than any lucrative Tanrian mineshaft. But as danger closes in and Twyla and Frank's investigation becomes more complicated, so does their easy friendship. And Twyla starts to realize that her true soul mate might be the person who has lived next door all along...
Review:
A sweet story about two best friends who might finally take the greatest leap of all and confess their love for one another... that is if they can survive raising a baby dragon, bombs, and someone trying to kill them. Twyla Banneker and Frank Ellis are two middle-aged, single grandparents who became the town Marshals together. They've been partners for over 8 years, best friends, and neighbors. Yet things are beginning to change as they make a strange discovery and Frank inadvertently becomes the foster dad to a baby dragon and a new man comes in town ready to sweep Twyla off her feet. The only problem is that Twyla is beginning to realize that despite being widowed and now dating a new man... she doesn't feel the way about any of them the way she feels when she is with Frank... and Frank just so happens to have eyes only for her. Yet if they do enter into a relationship what would that mean for their friendship... and can Twyla finally take the leap and open her heart up to romance again? This was actually a really sweet and charming romance featuring two protagonists who were in their 50s. I loved how supportive and sweet the friendship between Frank and Twyla was, they truly had one another's backs and were so perfect together. It's a sweet cozy little read and I would definitely recommend it!

I’m so excited for Duckers & Rosie being partners in the next book. I can see them having a lot of fun and definitely getting into all sorts of trouble. Although just having read the synopsis for the next book, I’m not sure how much Duckers screentime we’re gonna get after all.
I ended up enjoying Twyla & Franks book way more than I thought - so I’m pretty optimistic about Rosie’s book. Also I’m hoping we get a Duckers book cause I love him dearly - and maybe Megan Baben was setting that up with his -breaking up with Zeddie arc- in this book.

The Undermining of Twyla and Frank by Megan Bannen - ARC Review!
The entire town of Eternity was shocked when widowed, middle-aged Twyla Banneker partnered up with her neighbor and best friend, Frank Ellis, to join the Tanrian Marshals. Eight years later, Twyla and Frank are still patrolling the dangerous land of Tanria, the former prison of the Old Gods. His kids are coming for a two-week visit on Wisdomsday, and my daughter is already at Wade’s house. I’m more worried about you. I hate the idea of leaving you all alone.”
“But that’s what I want—time to myself in my own place on my own terms. I literally dumped a great guy to get it.”
A memory arose like a ghost in Twyla’s mind, not of a single moment but of many bound together, of a thousand times in her life when she would have given anything to check into a clean hotel room for one night and order room service and lie there on the bed and do absolutely nothing. Some people dreamed of travel and vacations, but in those days, Twyla had no aspirations of that kind. She wanted only to live and breathe in a room with no one else in it for a few hours.
Now that she had her house (mostly) to herself—when it didn’t have a hole in the roof or smoke and water damage—she appreciated the value of living on her own terms even more. She leaned across the bench and gave Duckers a hug.
“I have so much respect for you.””

A lot of the books I got rid of in the older tabs were contemporary genre, and there's not a whole lot of contemporary books I like. At least as a whole. There are exceptions but mainly, I find the genre boring. I feel like if it's contemporary, it has to be something really gripping or deranged for me to stay entertained. Murder mysteries and thrillers that are particularly messed up (I loved Butcher & Blackbird), Dark Romance (Adored Haunting Adeline and everything else I've read so far from H.D. Carlton.)
(Also just side note, a lot of the older books listed in my list reminded me of bi erasure and how its alive and well. Bi characters are always listed as lesbian. It's so stupid. Anyway, rant over.)
Books I found that I forgot about (That sound amazing!!)
Spice Road
Off With Their Heads
Dragonfruit
The Lunar Chronicles (I always forget about this series but it looks really awesome, and really want to give it a go)
The Heir of The Beast (I keep missing being able to read this.)
I now have 490 on my list, I may go through it again. Cause there's still a lot on the list. If I go through it again, I'll edit this post. If you've read any of these books, and you think I should reconsider, please let me know!., , ..0 (Greetings from my cat apparently)

The Undermining of Twyla and Frank (CBR16 #42)
In December of 2022 I read Megan Bannen’s The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy. I devoured it, it sunk into my soul a bit and left me with big feelings that I had a tough time initially putting into words. When Bannen’s second book, The Undermining of Twyla and Frank was announced I immediately put it on my to read list and was even more excited by Emmalita’s review in June about a love story…

Book Review : Finding Mr. Write
After reading the adorable The Undermining of Twyla and Frank, I had a craving for another fun romance novel. Though Finding Mr. Write lacks the fantasy world of the former, the novel does still require some make-believe in order to imagine any of this scenario actually playing out. Finding Mr. Write follows debut author Daphne on the exciting journey of getting a book deal—there’s just one…
