#Weird Fishes #rae mariz #aroaessidhe 2022 reads #mooch....friend...almost made me cry aksdjgsdjh #the lil glowy squid on the cover is one of the POVs. friend.#i loved this SO MUCH and then the end thing happened and i didn't love that. like i still gave it 5 stars bc of how much i loved most of it #the overall tone of the book is reasonably light and then there's kinda. a sudden SA. which is a bit offputting and depressing.#(SA which is very brief; but technically on page and has significant effects)#i still really loved it i just felt like that was unnecessary. just threat of it would have been relevant in the narrative #like i understand the context of representing colonial violence and everything it was just kind all amped up right at the end #the timeframe mentioned in the epilogue made me SLIGHTLY less upset about it...but still....#no romance #<---but obviously if ur wanting no romance from an aspec POV the things mentioned above may be triggering #but ANYWAY i love the worldbuilding.....the friendship.......the idea of this little squid being a scientist (not even in a silly way)
