Tumblr media
In your required upper division business course aptly titled “Essential Marketing Strategies,” you had learned about a concept called personal brands. A personal brand is explained as the first impression a person wishes to perceive based on their own experiences, qualifications, and achievements. Your professor had told you and your classmates to pick three words to define your own brand. For instance, you chose to label yourself as charismatic, fun, and creative.
Your best friend’s brand would be awkward, endearing, and technologically challenged.
Okay, so that is definitely more than three words, but who’s counting? You might as well tack on “Y/N’s big fat crush” at this rate because everyone and their mother knows that you carry a torch—or more accurately, a blazing wildfire that can easily be spotted from Pluto—for your best friend.
Well, to be more precise, you should probably say everyone, except Mark, knows. And that’s not for lack of trying either. You completely dropped the art of delicate subtlety months ago already. Maybe you should add “hopelessly oblivious” instead.
The rolling end credits to the sixth Harry Potter film are playing on the screen in front of you, signaling the nearing end of your magical movie marathon. You’re seated on the worn down couch in Mark and Donghyuck’s shared apartment, watching the former make his drink with the fancy, gently used Keurig newly settled on the scratched countertop. Johnny dropped it off a few days ago because he had splurged on a better coffee machine (“It even makes Instagram worthy whipped frappuccinos!”) and didn’t want his old, but still perfectly functioning caffeine provider going to waste.
“What’s wrong with this thing?” Mark slaps the side of the machine, and it starts to emit a low whirring noise. “Oh, that’s good, right? That sound is good, you think?”
His question is immediately answered by the sad squirt of hot water speckled with coffee grinds falling into his mug for a few seconds before the machine shuts off.
“What the hell?” he mutters angrily, carding his hand through his hair in frustration, and you finally decide to take pity on your best friend. Getting up from the comfy spot you know you sadly won’t be able to recreate perfectly again later, you stride over to where your best friend stands and flip open the top of the Keurig.
“Hyuck didn’t take out his used coffee pod,” you say, pulling out the incriminating evidence of your best friend’s roommate and disposing it in the trash can next to the refrigerator. “Where’s the espresso one you’re gonna use? Why didn’t you put that in?”
His jaw slackens, and he sheepishly rubs the back of his neck, avoiding your gaze and mumbling, “I thought I’d just open it later and pour it into my hot water.”
“Mark,” you start, placing your hands on his shoulders firmly and staring into his eyes with a serious look on your face. “Please know that I’m saying this in the most loving way possible, but you are an absolute idiot.”
You release your grip on his shoulders and grab the espresso pod dangling from his fingertips before slotting it into the Keurig. You remove the mug he placed underneath the spout and wash out the accidental coffee water before placing it back in its original position and pressing the start button on the machine. With a sigh, you lean against the side of the counter, glancing at your friend who looks like a child being scolded for stealing from the cookie jar.
“If you pour the pod into your mug, are you just going to chug all the loose coffee grinds, too?”
“... I didn’t think that far ahead.” His lips start to unintentionally form a tiny pout, and your eyes (and your heart, too) soften.
You’re very relieved that Donghyuck is off filming with your friend because he definitely would be making fun of your heart eyes that frequently make an appearance around a certain Mark Lee. Which you always deny. Because you certainly do not have a gigantic crush on your technologically inept best friend.
You glance over at him again and have to physically fight yourself to resist the urge to kiss his cute pout away. Okay, so maybe you harbor a very respectable, medium sized crush. But it's no big deal. It’s completely under control. Unless you’re counting the fact that your best friend is still unaware, and you’re running out of ideas to try and see if he likes you back before you actually shoot your shot. Then it’s very much not under control because you’re losing sleep over it and you don’t know what to do to be any more obvious without stating the, well, obvious.
“Well, now you know. If you forget, you can FaceTime me and I’ll give you instructions on how it works.” You pat his shoulder reassuringly before pausing. “Wait, you do know how to FaceTime, right?”
“Yes!” he exclaims, sulking even more before confessing in a quieter, defeated tone, “Hyuck showed me last month.”
Mark grabs his finished drink and follows behind you, settling back onto the couch next to you. The streaming service already has Deathly Hallows Part 1 in the queue and ready to go, and your best friend is ready to click play until he notices your attention being focused on the smaller screen in your hands. He wonders if you’re about to post another one of your popular cooking videos on that app that shares a name with the most iconic song of the 2000s (hint: the name of the song’s singer is made up of four letters and a dollar sign).
“Are you uploading one of your videos?” he implores before taking a sip of his drink with a satisfied smile. Somehow, it always tastes better when you make it, and he can’t figure out why for the life of him. When he went to Johnny’s place, his older friend uses the exact same pod and water ratio for his espresso, and yet, it’s never as good as yours.
“Nah, I’m ordering my grocery delivery before I forget. Do you want anything?” You select the option to load your usual grocery items into your cart before debating on whether or not you should splurge on buying several packages of those seasonal Pillsbury sugar cookies that only come in stock during certain holidays. It seems like such an insult to the entire premise of your Tiktok account based on baking and cooking, but you’re an absolute sucker for those soft pastries.
“Yeah, can you get me a Shin Ramyun ten pack? Hyuck ate the last one two days ago and didn’t tell me.”
“You sure you don’t want ten boxes again?” You decide to get those Pillsbury sugary delights, happily adding three boxes to your cart. Everybody has a weakness, and yours just so happens to be a premade one way ticket to diabetes. You’re here for a good, delicious time, not a long time.
“No! That was an accident!” He objects, flailing his hands around, before falling back against the couch cushions in defeat. “But Hyuck does all the online grocery shopping now.”
“Thank god. You guys finally have quality toilet paper again.”
The past month of bathroom occurrences was plagued with scratchy tissue that felt more like goddamn sandpaper from the horrible depths of hell. To be honest, you probably would have rather used actual sandpaper, given the choice. You even made sure not to drink too much water any time you came over, but today, you decided to splurge on a venti passion fruit iced tea with sweetener from that very popular franchise sporting a mermaid logo and fiscally cosmic name. To your pleasant surprise, your trip to the toilet this time was wonderfully padded with Charmin Ultra Soft, not that absolutely awful off brand one with the gross texture of a dried pinecone from inferno.
“Hey, that toilet paper was a good steal! It was a three for one deal,” Mark protests, and you narrow your eyes at him.
“Wow, I wonder why it was priced so low.” You deadpan, and Mark blanches, recalling all those restroom incidents that were rather rough. Literally.
“Anyway, do you think my viewers wanna see me make chocolate crinkle cookies or mochi doughnuts?” You bring up the two recipes you managed to perfect and add your own spin to on your phone, eyes scanning the ingredient lists.
“Both. And tell me when you’re making them, so I can come over and eat them.” He gives you a wide grin, and you let out a snort at that. His smile only grows as he says happily, “I love your job.”
“You only love it because you can freeload off of me,” you jest, but nevertheless begin to start to add all the ingredients for both recipes to your shopping cart. You always film cooking videos on Tuesdays, edit on Wednesdays, keep Thursdays free for last minute touch ups and emergencies, and post one every week on Fridays with other various random videos uploaded whenever in between. With that in mind, you schedule your upcoming grocery delivery for Monday.
“Hey, you need me. I’m the best taste tester.” He puffs up his chest proudly before hastily tacking on a more genuine reason. “And because I’d starve without you. I can’t live off of instant ramen and frozen chicken nuggets forever. Gordon Ramsay already confirmed my shitty cooking skills. I need you to survive.”
“Oh my god, when I uploaded those pics of your scrambled eggs on Twitter, I lost like a hundred followers in less than a minute.” You confirm the delivery and place your phone on the coffee table, picking up the opened bag of Cheeto puffs before settling back in your seat. “My cooking credibility was completely shot. I had to explain to my fans that I didn’t make those.”
“Yeah, but now everyone calls me Eggy Boi online!” he whines, and you laugh. You have to admit, it’s quite a funny play on the whole “edgy boi” terminology. You wonder if Mark will find it amusing if he discovers his roommate is the culprit behind his new online persona (He probably won’t, and you reckon Donghyuck enjoys living in a safe space where he doesn’t have to sleep with one eye open, so you stay quiet about it. You’ll use it as leverage some other time).
“Okay, Eggy Boi, come by on Tuesday because I’ll be baking in the afternoon,” you say casually, grabbing the remote control from your best friend and pressing play.
You very narrowly avoid a green gummy bear to the face. It lands somewhere behind the couch, lost forever to the dust bunnies and other snacks that missed its target. You know for a fact that it’ll stay there until the boys decide to move to a new apartment. Mark grumbles at the miss, biting off the head of a red cherry flavored gummy bear perhaps a little harder than necessary.
“I hate you. But I’m still coming over next week because I want a doughnut.”
“No cookie?”
“... and a cookie. Maybe two.”
Tumblr media
Wednesday comes faster than you expected, and you’re currently holed up in your apartment’s second bedroom—which you had transformed into a snazzy office space—completing the edits to your second video on mochi doughnuts. You already finished polishing the one about the cookies earlier, thank goodness. If you had to stare at your computer screen for another three hours, you would rather eat those pastries Mark tried to make two months ago, but had mistaken salt for sugar. Adding a cup of salt to any baked good is an extremely effective way to make anyone who tasted your best friend’s brownies experience a trip to the beach. Because they essentially just swallowed a mouthful of sand and ocean water. Because it’s salty as heck. Just like Mark was when you told him.
Speaking of your best friend, he’s currently puttering around in your kitchen doing god knows what. He knows better than to try another recipe and possibly blow up your number one moneymaker—your prized oven—in the process. Your heart nearly drops when your ears pick up the faint chopping sounds of a knife against your wooden cutting board. Is he going to try to temper chocolate again? He nearly burned through your entire stock of dark, milk, and white chocolate last time.
After much contemplation and deciding that you deserve a good procrastination break and a fully intact kitchen, you’re about to go out and see what he’s up to when Mark timidly appears in your doorway, clutching onto a white bowl of watermelon cubes with a fork tucked neatly in it. He shuffles in, dropping the snack on your desk before turning to walk out without a word, not wanting to disturb your work mode.
Your heart warms up at the sight, and you speak up, a small smile slipping into your face. “What’s this for?”
“Knowing you, you probably haven’t eaten anything since breakfast.” He pauses in the doorway and adds on sheepishly, “And I can't cook anything, so this is what you get.”
Your heart swells tenfold, and your smile widens even more as you spear a piece of fruit with the fork and quickly pop it into your mouth. “Thanks, Marky.”
His cheeks flush with a pretty shade of carmine, and he fails to suppress the little giddy smile that appears on his face at your nickname for him. He walks out of your office, reddened cheeks still rising up higher than ever. “Y-Yeah, of course. No problem.”
By the time you finish adding the final few touches to your edited video, the bowl of watermelon has been picked clean. You save your video and transfer both of your completed projects to your phone, making a mental note to schedule their uploads and add them to your account’s posting queue later. Shoving your phone in the pocket of your sweats after ensuring the successful transfer of your videos, you pick up the empty dish and walk out towards the kitchen, the silver fork clinking against the side of the bowl with every step.
As you wash the dish and utensil, Mark wanders over from his spot on the couch, leaning forward and casually placing his chin on your shoulder. Almost instantaneously, you feel the heat rising to your cheeks as you briefly fantasize about your best friend wrapping his arms around your waist and how domestic and sweet the two of you would look, like one of those cheesy couples the two of you always made fun of.
“What’s up?” you ask, making a conscious effort to hold your voice steady and not waver over the fact that Mark is basically draped over you. After you place the dish on the drying rack, you turn around to face your best friend, sorely miscalculating the distance as mere inches separate your face from his now.
“I—” Puberty decides to make an ugly appearance in the form of an ill timed voice crack, and he internally curses as he takes a step back, willing the incoming blush to go away. Letting out a small cough, he tries again, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
“I, um, Jisung sent me some kind of dance video. He said it’s a challenge? I kinda don’t know what to do with it? Like do I make a new dance, record myself, and send it back? Actually, isn't it easier to just do a dance battle face to face?”
“Can I see the video?” You already have a good idea on what the video will be, but you want to confirm it. Mark fumbles with his phone, pulling up the video in his text messages. He angles the phone towards you for you to see, and you grab his hand, bringing the device a little closer to you for a better look and clicking play.
“Oh, it’s a Tiktok challenge! He’s doing the Say So dance!” you exclaim, recognizing the song almost immediately as your eyes follow the fluid dance moves, completely enthralled. “So a challenge isn’t going up against someone, like a battle. It’s just some kind of trend or concept that you try to copy yourself. You’re supposed to learn the same dance and record yourself for this one. I can show you some other challenges and help you practice and record this one tomorrow if you wanna drop by after work!”
“O-Oh, okay, sounds good.” Mark stumbles over his words, attempting to focus on what you’re saying and the dance Jisung is doing, but all he can think about is the way your body is pressed against his side, hand comfortably wrapped around his. He freezes up as the tips of his ears grow redder and redder with every passing second, and his face sports a similar color. He silently prays for the telltale crimson to go away by the time the dance is over.
When the video ends, you once again realize the close proximity between you and your best friend. Your face burns at this revelation, and you awkwardly take a step back. Clearing your throat, you hastily release Mark’s hand (He inaudibly lets out the breath he’s been holding in this entire time, yet he also already misses the way your hand felt grasping his).
“Uh, anyway, I’m gonna make a latte. Do you want a drink, too?” You walk towards the other side of your kitchen with Mark trailing behind you. You take out a floral, peachy colored mug from your cupboards before pausing and looking at your best friend. “Wait, do you remember how to use a Keurig?”
“Yes!” He says, slightly exasperated as he picks out his own cup from your cabinet. He always uses the same one—a cerulean blue mug with squiggles all over it—and all of your friends and guests know not to use it because it’s unofficially officially Mark’s mug (And perhaps, you did indeed buy it from that overpriced kitschy tableware shop down the street two years ago with your best friend in mind).
“Really?” You select the latte option and press start after you had already positioned the mug beneath the spout and inserted a green tea matcha pod. He finally relents, shoulders sagging and a defeated expression on his face.
“... No.”
You chuckle, taking the mug from him and carefully putting it on the counter. You grab the espresso pod you know he likes from the drawer below and place it next to the cup. “It’s okay, I’ll teach you again.”
Mark tries. He really does. He tries very hard to concentrate on memorizing the simple process, but he keeps getting distracted. His eyes are focused on the correct button to push before they start to trail up to your fingertips. And then, they go from your hand to your arm, then up to the elegant curve of your neck, and finally, to the way your lashes frame your pretty eyes and how the tip of your tongue sticks out slightly as you concentrate until all he can focus on is you, you, you.
Suddenly, in what feels like a blink of an eye, you’re done and handing him his finished drink, complete with a perfectly whipped milk foam on top. You ask him if he knows how to make it now, and all he can do is lie and nod with a barely convincing smile.
After all, how can Mark tell his best friend that the reason he never remembers is because you’re the biggest distraction?
Tumblr media
Mark should be here in five minutes, according to his most recent text message. And in the text message below that, your friend had sent you a challenge. More specifically, it’s the one she completed with Donghyuck a few weeks ago. When you said you wanted bold suggestions on how to figure out if your best friend feels the same way about you as you do about him, you didn’t want one this bold.
Yet, the video link to your friend’s “today I kissed my best friend” challenge along with a winky face from her is staring mockingly at you. While you aren’t one to back down from a challenge, the mere thought of kissing your best friend causes vast colonies of butterflies to erupt in your stomach and your ears to feel as if they have caught on fire. You’re already tongue tied with your head in the clouds, and he isn’t even here yet. How utterly fantastic.
However, your mother definitely did not raise a quitter, so you spring into action when you hear the faint jingling of a key being inserted into your apartment’s door (You had given Mark a copy of your key almost immediately after you had moved in). You move the pretty indoor fern given to you by Jaemin as a housewarming gift last year closer to the edge of your towering bookcase, leaning your phone against it. You quickly position the device to capture a good view of the couch area in your living room and press the record button, arranging a few of the leaves to hide as much of your phone as you possibly can without obstructing the lens.
You run full speed to your bedroom, letting out a sigh of relief when you’re safely inside and hear Mark finally unlocking the door successfully and shuffling in. When he calls out to you, you try to even out your breathing, walking out of your room with your tripod and laptop in hand.
“Hey,” you greet him in the most casual tone you can muster. You place the tripod down and sit before opening your laptop and setting it on the coffee table. “I thought we could watch a few challenges for fun before trying the Say So one. Have you watched Jisung’s videos before?”
“Um, well, no, not really,” he confesses sheepishly, taking a seat next to you on the couch, leg pressing against yours. He squints at the YouTube video you pulled up earlier before he had arrived, reading the title before clicking the space button to start it. “Savage Tiktok dance compilation part two?”
“Wait, hold up.” You pause the video and then turn to face him with an incredulous expression on your face. “You’ve never watched any of Jisung’s dance Tiktoks?”
“No… I don’t even have an account.” His cheeks are dusted with the lightest shade of pink as he quietly admits, “I watch all of yours though.”
Your eyes widen at his confession, face heating up as you stammer out, “O-Oh, well, I can help you make an account later to upload your video.”
“Sounds good.” There’s a few seconds of silence as you mull over his previous words before he speaks up again awkwardly, “Should I, uh, play the video?”
“Oh! Yes, right! Of course, hit play,” you laugh nervously, twisting and playing with the hair tie around your wrist. He starts the video again, and the two of you watch the compilation, slowly relaxing once more as you tap your fingers to the rhythm of the song and he bobs his head to the beat.
“Do I have to change outfits like that?” he questions a few minutes later, eyes growing round as he sees the girl on the screen switch between four different outfits throughout the dance. His closet basically consists of the same five black shirts that he stole from Jaehyun. Even if he did do an outfit swap, there would literally be no difference at all.
“You don’t have to,” you assure him, clicking the enter key to play the next video that’s recommended: another Tiktok dance challenge compilation. “All you have to do is copy the dance.”
Mark nods, taking a glance at the laptop screen before his hand shoots out and he pauses the video, leaning forward to take a closer look at the little recommended video title banner at the top. “Wait! What’s that one?”
He clicks on it, the new video now loading up. The two of you wait patiently for it to begin, waiting for the spinning disc to stop. But it doesn’t. In fact, the whole chrome page goes blank and then, the little pixelated Google Chrome dinosaur pops up on your monitor, announcing that you have no internet connection. Furrowing your eyebrows, you try to reload the page before trying to re-establish your laptop connection to your wifi. Unfortunately, you cannot find your appropriately named “drop it like it’s hotspot” wifi anywhere to connect to.
And that’s when it hits you. Your landlord had sent out a notice to the entire apartment complex last week about the electricity being powered down today from 4 to 6 p.m. for a maintenance check, and a quick glance at the digital clock on your laptop shows that it’s a little past four.
You groan, closing your laptop and flopping back against the couch cushions dramatically. Mark cocks his head, slightly confused, before he pokes you in the arm. “What’s wrong?”
“I completely forgot about the scheduled electricity shutdown for the entire building. We won’t have any wifi for the next two hours.” You pout, your bottom lip jutting out in the slightest, and Mark doesn’t think it’s fair that you get to be this cute and have this much of an effect on his racing heart rate.
“That’s okay, we can… play some board games?” he suggests offhandedly, pushing away the embarrassing thought and nudging your leg with his, and you smile before a sudden idea occurs to you.
“Or we can still do some Tiktok challenges! What was the challenge you clicked on?” You quickly sit upright, turning to face your best friend, eyes sparkling in excitement. “I memorized a few of the dance ones already! Was it Renegade? I can teach you that one. Jisung showed me how to do it.”
“Um,” he starts, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. His eyes dart everywhere, except you, as he lets out a feigned cough. “It wasn’t a dance one. It was about, uh, going up to your boyfriend… and um, hugging him... when he’s playing video games.”
“Oh.” You answer lamely, not knowing what to say. You unsuccessfully try to push away the image of you attempting that challenge with your best friend. “Those are really cute.”
“Really?” He says doubtfully, wrinkling his eyebrows and fiddling with the frayed sleeve of his sweater. “Wouldn’t the dude get mad?”
You don’t know what suddenly possessed you to do this (you’ll have to ask Renjun and his paranormal loving ass later), but you thank whatever demon did for that split second because you find yourself gently grabbing Mark’s arm and slipping your head underneath it. You swing one leg over his lap and settle down until you’re securely sitting in his lap, bent legs on either side of his hips, hands curled around the soft fabric of his sweater on both sides and resting on top of your thighs. His arms instinctively go around your waist, wrapping around you securely.
You tilt your head to the side slightly, studying the flustered boy in front of you with a teasing, albeit a little anxious, smile on your lips. “Are you feeling mad?”
Splotches of red litter his cheeks and decorate the tips of his ears, but your best friend furiously shakes his head at your question, bashfully ducking his head afterwards and muttering a soft “No.”
You swallow hard, heart pounding erratically in your chest as you timidly ask, “Would you be mad if I do this?”
Mark looks up at that, confusion written all over his face. His arms start to loosen around your figure, hands now resting on your waist. “If you do what?”
You take a deep breath. “This.”
You lean in and gently press your lips against his. Mark freezes in shock, and you quickly retreat soon after, gnawing at the inside of your cheek as you wait anxiously for his reaction. Your heart feels like it’s about to fall out of your chest and be buried six feet under.
A tiny noise of surprise belatedly escapes from him and crimson spreads across his cheeks like wildfire. His doe eyes are wide and sparkling, staring at you in bewilderment. Your best friend lets out a small laugh of disbelief before a full blown smile breaks out across his face. He gazes at you adoringly, breathing out softly, “I’m not mad at that.”
You perk up at that, draping your arms around his neck as you lean forward, beaming. “Really? You’re not?”
“Definitely not.”
This time, Mark meets you halfway, his lips slotting against yours perfectly and making you feel tingles up and down your spine. Your eyes are closed, and you are so hyper aware of the way his hands grip your hips, how he tugs you closer, and how his lips chase after yours. The number of butterflies from earlier multiply in your stomach, and you have ascended past cloud nine by now.
When the two of you break apart, your eyes flutter open, and you nudge your nose against his affectionately. The brightest grin blooms on his face once again, and he buries his face in the crook of your neck, muffling his little giggles and hiding the awfully vibrant cerise that rapidly blossoms on his face.
“Is this a good time to tell you congrats for completing your first challenge?” you say, resting your cheek against the crown of his head. You pull away when he lifts his head up, surprised.
“I wasn’t playing video games though,” he says slowly, processing your words and thinking back to the challenge that started this all.
“It was a different challenge. It’s the one that Hyuck did a few weeks ago,” you confess, and realization dawns on him, his face lighting up for a split second before a look of horror takes over.
“Oh, no. Is that why you had your phone recording on the bookshelf?” Mark asks, dread beginning to cloud his mind.
“Yes…” you say slowly, a little perplexed. “Why? What’s wrong?”
“Oh my god, I ruined your video,” he moans, dropping his forehead onto your shoulder. “I saw your phone when I walked in and thought you were filming earlier and forgot to turn it off, so I turned it off for you.”
When the words finally register in your mind, you can’t stop the laughter from bubbling out of your throat, and he raises his head up to look at you with wide doe eyes at the pretty sound. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to!”
You can’t stop laughing at the situation, and he looks at you worriedly, gnawing on his bottom lip slightly. You force yourself to calm down, a soft chuckle leaving your lips before you beam at him, leaning in and placing the softest kiss on the tip of his nose. “It’s okay, Mark. I’m not mad. That video wasn’t important anyway.”
“But still,” he whines before letting out a groan and slapping his hand against his forehead when the realization sinks in even further. “I’m such an idiot.”
“But you’re my idiot now, right?” you say teasingly, albeit a little shyly as well, as you reach over to tug his hand away from his face and lace your fingers with his.
“I mean, I kinda thought I was always your idiot,” Mark laughs softly and a little embarrassedly, eyes averted and cheeks turning pinker than ever. The largest grin spreads across your face at that, and you turn away slightly to hide it. You didn’t think your best friend can possibly be any more endearing, but he manages to prove you wrong every time.
“Well, then now you can add ‘Y/N’s boyfriend’ to your resume,” you say, and he fails to suppress the pleased smile appearing on his face at your remark, his rosy cheeks rising even taller than skyscrapers.
“So, uh, what sort of job description does that have?” He gazes at your intertwined hands in wonder, still completely giddy at the reality of you being his best friend and something more.
“Sharing hoodies, giving me attention, kissing, holding my hand, going on dates, you know, the basics,” you answer, squeezing his hand tenderly, and his doe eyes instantly light up. Mark feels a little bolder than before, and it shows when he grins widely and says:
“Can we do number three again?”
“Yes, we can, Eggy Boi.”
He wrinkles his nose at the name, disgruntled and unimpressed, as he crosses his arms over his chest, sulking. You let out a laugh before leaning in and crashing your lips against his. He immediately relents at that, enthusiastically responding and hugging you closer to him, and you can’t help but smile into the kiss as you feel his own smile appear as well.
At that moment, you decide that you want to change Mark’s personal brand. Because his should be “absolutely wonderful, positively amazing, a cute kisser, your boyfriend, and your bestest friend.” And yes, that is most definitely more than the allotted three words, but again, who’s really counting?
Certainly not you when you’re too preoccupied with kissing your best friend. Correction: best friend and new boyfriend.

7:04 am | youngk
airport drabble with kang younghyun (youngk of day6) & f!reader. 2.4k words, fluff, requested by anon (thank you)
requests closed
the air is clean, and the floors pristine white. you rub remnants of sleep from your eyes as a yawn sneaks its way out of your lips. seated at the bench in the corner, you lazily watch people walk past, their faces contorted in different expressions of similar sleepiness, enthusiasm, or downright frustration for being up so early away from their beds (most likely). clasped in your other hand is a rectangular piece of slightly thicker paper, some words bolded and numbers imprinted on the side lengthwise. you’re careful not to wrinkle it too much, knowing that it already has a spot in your journal once the trip has ceased.
you shift your focus from people watching to the hallway right across from you, two openings on either side. due to your consciousness still not at its one hundred percent, you don’t quite remember which side was the men’s restroom— or if both were gender neutral to begin with. either way, it felt like an eternity waiting for younghyun to come out of there, your feet tapping impatiently on the floor.
you have an unlikely relationship with airports— sometimes the thought of being in one excites you, and others you absolutely abhor it. for completely different reasons. however, right now, you feel excited, maybe a little anxious — but that rarely leaves your system when you’re trying to follow a tight schedule like your boarding time.
finally, you spot him coming out of the right side— hair still fluffy and all-around messy, his white and brown fleece jacket hugging his upper body making him look like a tall, giant teddy bear. a smile naturally paints on your face, feet staying still but yourself buzzing with anticipation. he has that effect on you, a lot of times.
“did i take long?” younghyun chuckles at the sight of you, jumping out of the bench while rolling the balls of your feet on the tiled flooring. he looks a lot more awake now compared to the cab ride here, droplets of water streaking his temples. you grin wider, taking his damp hand in yours as you drag your feet towards your assigned gate.
“no, but let’s hurry!”
“okay, okay— whoa, easy there. do you know what time it is?”
“time for us to wait by the boarding gate before everyone else does!” you look back at him expectantly, missing the kid running past you in a narrow direction. for some reason, this alerts younghyun’s senses and catches you by the waist, the soft, wool-like material of his jacket rubbing against your thin long sleeves. you feel a sudden warmth on your cheeks, but dismiss the childish reaction as you witness younghyun’s playful smirk.
“don’t want to get hurt before we meet the parents now, do we?”
“n-no…” you continue blushing, his hand releasing his hold on your side but continues to intertwine it with your fingers. this time, he leads you forward as you recover from flushed cheeks and the impending realization you’ve been avoiding in your mind since packing up for this very trip last night.
“it’s not like it’s the first time you guys have seen each other in person,” he reassures you. “and the last time we visited, they absolutely adored you.”
“that was almost a year ago, younghyun,” you protest, pouting at the thought of his parents expecting even more from you since then. you have had the occasional small talk with his mom over messages and emails, sometimes getting to talk to his dad for a few minutes when younghyun is on the phone with him.
“what if they expect me to own a multi-million company by myself at this point in my life?” the harrowing thought seemed silly, but knowing how independent and, not to mention, successful the kang household is dating back from his great grandparents… maybe it’s just the minimum effort they would want to see in you.
the one and only son of mr and mrs kang, however, doesn’t seem to agree.
younghyun halts right in front of the airport employee verifying tickets and id, and turns directly towards you. the light from the high windows up to the ceiling shone through the glass, shining a streak of brightness over your boyfriend’s face. he peers through the sunlight with narrow eyes, but you only laugh at his sorry attempt not to get blinded.
and yet, he looks absolutely perfect. and it’s not even eight in the morning yet.
“love, i don’t even own a company, let alone have a million dollars in my wallet.”
“debatable.”
“i— what?” taken aback by your response, younghyun’s eyes gleam and the miniscule wrinkles on either side of his eyes turn at his laugh. “you’re overthinking this. you’ll be fine, we’ll be fine. besides, it’s my birthday in a few days— i expect them to be extra nice to me when we get there.”
which is about two days from now, and the flight to canada takes approximately eleven hours.
there he goes again, master of quelling any and all dubious content found in the crevices of your mind, the worry center of your brain always challenged by his sure confidence and practical look at reality. it fits, wildly enough, how you balance each other’s perception of the things that happen to you both in life.
after showing both of your tickets, and being ushered further into the airport, you finally heave a sigh of relief. the gate isn’t too far from your current location, just a simple turn to the right and you’ll see the number 08 and a sign signifying your flight to canada.
with your luggages checked in at the front, you only have a backpack slung around your shoulders, filled with some necessities for the long airtime. although, due to guidelines having to prohibit possession of liquids, you were feeling quite parched. and another yawn escapes out of your lips once more. younghyun follows suit, looking around the vicinity for a small shop.
“oh, i see a coffee stand over there. let’s go?”
“yes, please,” you comply, letting him lead the way. the smell of roasted coffee beans and milk gets stronger as you close into the queue, only three people before you. you stand in front of younghyun, looking up at the menu behind the register. suddenly, arms covered in snowy fleece wrap themselves around you, your backpack getting squished in between. it wasn’t as uncomfortable to you as it probably was for younghyun, but his chin resting on your shoulder and a quick, fleeting kiss on your cheek whips your mind elsewhere.
with your hands awkwardly on your sides, you put them over his. the coffee aroma surrounding you had awaken you just a tad bit, but having younghyun almost rubbing his cheeks repeatedly against yours was more than enough for you to be aware of the pda.
the line moves, and you assumed younghyun would release you by now but as you take a step forward, he mirrors your movement. his grip on your waist tightens, and his nose grazes against your skin. it tickles your ear, goosebumps running along your arms all of a sudden which he noticed.
“cold?” he jokes, eyes all on you. for some reason, it’s hard for you to look back— as there’s only a few inches, one deep breath, until your lips meet. you don’t know what’s gotten into younghyun this morning, but you have a feeling it has to do with the missed opportunity of extra cuddles in bed as the alarm blared at your ears at five forty-five am, and maybe he can still read the anxiety hidden in your visage.
“clingy,” you retaliate, sticking your tongue out shortly. you hear the barista up front call in the next guest, an the two fo you would be there soon so you tap his arm, signaling your request for him to release you. it’s not that you were uncomfortable, surprised (and secretly delighted) would be a more accurate description.
“grumpy,” he states, eyebrows raised at your confused ones. he relents three seconds later but not before giving your lips a kiss that lasted shorter than you had wanted. you’ve kissed him this morning, maybe too many times before needing to call a cab— but something about him meeting your pursed lips in a short but sweet moment, out in public only highlights the feelings tumbling in your stomach.
“hello, good morning!” as if on cue, younghyun steps aside to let you order first. with warmer cheeks, you wring your hands to calm your beating heart down, and recite your drink of choice out of habit (didn’t have enough time to choose, honestly).
“and an iced americano too, please. all to go,” you tell the barista, seeing younghyun’s shy smile in the corner of your eye. it wasn’t as if his go-to was hard to remember at all, he basically runs on the stuff non-stop.
your drinks get made soon enough, and you cup your with both hands to wait for the matcha latte to cool down.
“how’s your americano?’ you ask younghyun, the two of you walking side by side.
he takes a sip before answering, “bitter. and watery. it’s basically bitter water.”
you cringe at the imagined taste, blowing on your own drink at the same time. “sounds amazing.” younghyun chuckles, unabashed by your reaction as he’s used to your constant slander towards his coffee of choice.
your eyes find the only sign that says ‘flight to canada’ in mere minutes, feeling great accomplishment at the unoccupied seats near the gate.
“why do you look so surprised? we literally have an hour and a half before boarding,” younghyun questions your marvelling. “people on our flight are probably just waking up right now.”
“so what? gives us more time to ourselves here,” you counter, walking around the empty seats and picking the ones not too close to the gate, but not too far from where they’d be asking passengers to line up. right in the middle.
“we could have used this time to sleep in just a little bit,” younghyun sits next to you, stretching his legs with a deep sigh. “or, you know, other things,” he adds, the glint in his eyes not missing a beat.  you slap his shoulder playfully, unprepared for the innuendos and physical affection he has been showering you today.
“what’s gotten into you, younghyun?” you ask jokingly, half expecting him to shrug it off as you bury yourself in the goodness of your steaming hot matcha latte. he shakes his head dismissively, watching you take tiny sips from the rim of the open lid. the smile on his smooth, soft face permanently painted on there.
“just want you to feel as comfortable as possible. it’s gonna be a long flight.”
“remind me again who falls asleep first during long travels? road trip to jeju? even just a thirty minute traffic jam in seoul a couple of times?”
younghyun pouts, your winning smirk overtaking his confidence for a little bit. he huffs, almost finishing the america sloshing around crushed ice in his cup. “no fair, i was really tired then, okay?”
“i don’t mind you sleeping during the flight, younghyun. really,” you reassure him, knowing that you won’t get a wink of sleep at all. the bubbling nerves are rising again, the more that you shove it to the side.
“what are you going to do for eleven hours?”
“dunno. think about life, create an unnecessary existential crisis in my mind, and possibly decide upon flinging myself off the plane entirely.”
your dry humor is something younghyun can never understand a lot of the times, eyes blinking back at you rapidly, mouth hanging wide open from the straw of his drink. you continue to humor his incredulous expression targeted at you, tilting your head for maximum nonchalance.
“babe…”
“hm?”
“you’re insane. absolutely insane,” he finally says, ruffling your hair in the process. you’d be more annoyed but there wasn’t really any effort put into your hair today. if anything, maybe he fixed it for you. either way, you tuck the stray bangs behind your ears and cross your arms, careful not to spill your drink. “you love me for it.”
“i absolutely do, although i have to admit you scare me sometimes.”
“i was kidding, younghyun!”
“yes i know, love, but— don’t say that in front of mom and dad,” he asks of you, gulping, “please?”
you scoff at the idea, but his pleading eyes make you roll yours lightheartedly as you promise, “i won’t let your parents know about my acquired sense of humor so that they don’t worry about me or you, for that matter.”
“thank you,” younghyun nods his head dramatically, looking serious but you know he’s itching to crack a smile as well. your heart feels full, in his odd ways younghyun has yet again quenched the anxiety trying to cough itself out of your throat. you think back to the times you’ve been in the same room as his parents. every time younghyun has been there, a guiding hand in the small of your back, or even a bold kiss on the side of your lips whenever one his parents ask you about your relationship.
really, this time shouldn’t be any different. your love for younghyun is still there, possibly having multiplied in ways you couldn’t have imagined upon meeting him years ago. there shouldn’t be a need for worries or unfounded assumptions of his parents disliking you for his son because you’re sure they’ve seen the way you look at him — with knowing eyes and a grateful smile for his existence in your life. and when you stand in the same space, the same house again in eleven hours, you’d be looking at younghyun just the same.
in fifteen minutes, you end up falling asleep on younghyun’s shoulder waiting for the announcement of your boarding. he keeps your head comfortably cradled on him (as much as he can), patting the side of your cheek and humming a soft lullaby that hopefully transcends to the sweet dream you were having.
he couldn’t think of a better place to be at this moment. as more passengers sit in the waiting area, their chit chatters growing louder, fighting away with the many announcements from the speaker, younghyun finds peace right beside you. anywhere that may be.

Jeon Jungkook/Reader [F]
Genre: Sports AU, Highschool, Fluff, Poor Description of Tennis (I’m sorry lol), Pinning, Idiots to Lovers

Summary: You’ve grown up with the boy across the street your whole life.  Even in high school, you were the first person to be called to rope in his tactless or rambunctious actions.  It gets worse when you get an appointed as Student Council President and now you’re forced to babysit and handhold the Tennis Team’s Ace Server: Jeon Jungkook.  There’s a reason he’s always causing you to show up; even further why he only seems to listen to you.
Tumblr media
a/n: this is my contribution for btsboulangeries Aug. 2019 au prompt lol. Sports!

“Y/n, can you come to the gym?”  You sat at your desk, reading whatever book you had picked up from the library when a member of the student council came and called you out of your room.  Murmurs echoed through the classroom like a loud rumble of thunder.  You didn’t even need an explanation as to why you were being called to the gymnasium out of seemingly nowhere.  It was always the same story with you and with him.
You got up with a tick in your brow as you marched to the door and silently told the student that you were on your way.  You felt like you were bunching up your uniform with each annoyingly-charged stomp of your foot. You walked down halls, and downstairs to the gym where the squeaking of shoes and shouts along with dribbling balls echoed from inside.
You stopped in the open, metal doorway as you way a small group of boys, shed of their school blazers- in all there obnoxious yellow glory- as they scampered around the gym courts.  Scattering back and forth dribbling a basketball, it wasn’t your average game of passing time basketball.  Instead of two teams competing, it was more of a revolution charging against one body who was smugly hoarding the ball and the stealing court.
“Jungkook!”  You screamed, cupping around your mouth so it could be heard over the sound of the intense sports balls game. The game almost instantly halted.  From the crowd of overly sweaty and heavy breathing teenage boys popped out Jeon Jungkook.  A prodigy of anything and everything ever and a boy seemingly gifted by whatever God decided to play favorites. His face that was once slack and sweaty broke into a grin that remained just as sweaty.
Jungkook was the little boy that you were forced into meeting with when you moved into the city of Busan when you were 4.  Your parents were firm believers of getting to know your neighbors and when they learned that the lovely couple across the street had a son your age, they just had to make you two meet.
You wouldn’t call yourselves childhood friends, it was more like when you were 4 years old that’s when your indefinite job of babysitting the only Jeon began.  You were always trailing behind him, scolding him for being reckless or trying to be his voice of reason because he clearly always decided to ignore his conscience. You’d run after him- considerably slower- in your sundress your mother dressed you in and your bright pink crocs.  He’d be dressed in his small jersey and shorts with shoes as he zoomed ahead of you to the park.
He’d climb trees that in comparison were like 6 story buildings while you stood on the ground at the base of the truck, pleading for him to come down before he loses his fight with gravity.  He did a few times, breaking his arm once and ankle another time- yet he still kept climbing bigger and bigger trees because the lesson was just never learned. That wasn’t all that Jungkook had going for him though.
He was completely different when he was around other girls.  He would get shy in his kindergarten class that you two shared.  He would stick to your side or shift behind you when he was approached by a girl who wanted to play with him.  He would keep his words short and actions shorts as his little body shifted in shyness.  It was the only times you were able to act as a shield to him.
He would also seem to put on a ‘big kid’ act when you were picked on.  You were often teased for reasons you still didn’t know.  You weren’t really all that different from all the other little girls in your class, but you were just a hot target on someone’s radar.  It was timed at recess that they were teasing you or kick rocks at you while you sat picking small flowers.  They even made you get stuck on the seesaw once, keeping your seat high into the air as they stayed on the opposite seat, keeping it down as you nearly cried.  It was way higher than you thought when you were 5.
Jungkook would start petty, childhood fights with insults as high as ‘poo head’ and ‘infected brat’ and defended you when he saw it.  He’d tell the other boys off and would take you to the grass when you cried and pick flowers with you until you would feel better.  There was one day when Jungkook walked you from your bus stop, holding your small hand in his own and told your parents that you needed at least 3 cookies to smile again.
The next day, Jungkook had come and given you a flower whistle to wear.  He told you to blow it when you were being teased again and he’d come and chase the meanies away.  You still had that whistle hanging in your bedroom beside your bed on a nail shared with the dreamcatcher Jungkook got you when he heard from your parents you had been having nightmares.
Jungkook and you from then grew up and somehow developed a love-hate relationship.  You would get on each other’s nerves constantly, but you would still lend him your notes when he got behind or when he needed a ride to and from practice, you’d be the first to offer it.  In return, he’d always do favors for you like buying your lunch for a day or hooking you up with free tickets to whatever team he’s playing for the season.  Not that you cared that much for sports.
When he saw you standing cross-armed in the gym doorway, he immediately abandoned the ball, bouncing it off to his side before he ran over to you.  The immediate relief the other boys had was almost tangible as they immediately divided up into proper teams for a friendly match. When he stood in front of you, he stood close enough you could feel the heat pushing off his body in waves.
He was a sweaty, smiley mess as his dark, dampened bangs stuck to his forehead and his sideburns were matted down to his cheeks.  Hair messy in a tussled, brown birds nest. His collared white-uniformed shirt was wrinkled, his sleeves rolled up to his forearms as his blazer lay among the rest in the bleachers.  Tie probably with his blazer, as he was now lacking one.  He definitely should have changed into his gym clothes instead of sweating up his uniform.
“Good morning, Butterfly,” he greeted.  The nickname is a long-standing one since you two were 7. He and you went out butterfly catching in the summer when the two pairs of your parents met up for some random BBQ.  You being the only one of the pair to not catch a single one as Jungkook had easily captured at least a dozen in his mesh trap before releasing them that same afternoon.
“It’s past noon,” you quipped as he just shrugged.  “Can’t you just sit down and read a book or something?  Do you always have to stir something up?  You know I’m trying to study and focus.”  You tapped your fingers on your bicep of your still folded arms.  Jungkook swung his left leg over his right ankle and tucked his hands behind his head.
“Oh yeah, you’re running for something in Stu. Co., yeah?” He ticked his brow with a questioning waver in his voice, unsure as to what position you were actually aiming for.  You were already part of the student council and if all went well, you hoped to be the next president with elections right around the corner.  It wasn’t just the student body vote that decided your fate, but your GPA and scores in classes.  You’ve been in class, the library or home with your nose in a textbook for weeks trying your damnedest for that seat.
“You know I’m running for president and your constant annoyances around the school aren’t helping.” You seemed genuinely upset that you were once again pulled away from your tasks as time dwindled.  You sighed as you rubbed your forehead, feeling that nagging of a nasty headache coming on.  You had a text in Trig. that afternoon not to mention the first half of a Science Lab that was literally half your grade for the semester.  Time away from your books and sheets were tally marks equivalent of failure in your pessimistic mind.
“Hey,” Jungkook’s voice shifted as he stood back properly and dropped his arms from his head.  Voice lowered as his face shifted from cocky and grin-split to one of what one might see as apologetic. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it kept you that busy.”
You just held your hand out towards him to stop any further apologies or excuses.  Shaking your head, you took a breath and tried your best to wave it off.
“Nonetheless,” you began again, looking back up at him, “I’m in the middle of studying, so please don’t make me chase you down again.  At least for the next hour.”  The conversation concluded with Jungkook agreeing to your terms- probably because of the short term agreement of an hour- and you turned to get back to your classroom to make up for your precious wasted time.
When school ended that day, you groaned as you walked to the library to see it packed with student after student.  No empty tables, chairs or private coves left that would bring you any sort of comfortable study time.  You completed the public library, but it was so far and you road the public bus to school today because your parent’s needed the car.
You felt a tap on your shoulder as you left the library and saw none other than the Jeon Jungkook himself.  After school in the library hall and not in the locker rooms for tennis practice where he should be.
“If you need a place to study, you can sit on the bleachers at practice,” he offered. His voice heightening at the end of his statement to morph it into a semi-questions.
“Study at your tennis practice.  On the bleachers.” He nodded.  “How am I suppose to work with you-”
“I won’t cause problems or distract you, I swear!” He promised.  “I’ll literally just walk you and then practice like you aren’t even there. Plus, some good ole vitamin C couldn’t hurt, yeah?  And if it gets too hot, there’s a bench not too far from the bleachers under some trees for some shade.”
You ended up giving in as he was soon dragging you towards the track and field area that had the tennis courts directly next to it, separated only with a tall wire fence.  The same fence you know Jungkook had climbed and jumped in the dead hours of the night for some sneaky tennis training in his rookie freshman days.
Slamming your back chock-full of books and notes down onto the cold, metal bleachers, you cracked open a book and got to work as Jungkook ran to the small lockerroom house to change.
Tennis was a lot more intense than you originally thought.  It was probably 40 minutes into practice before they actually started grabbing racquets and practicing serves and returns.  The upperclassmen would purposely falt the court and wait to see if one would call it out.  They’d slacken the net line or watch for wrong stances in the players.
When the team finally split into teams of doubles, Jungkook was the server of his team.  He had always been the first pick as a server for his powerful slams.  And since servers were servers through the entire game, it was an Ace for the team competing.  His stances shifted from open to closed and between flawlessly like a dance routine.  Skidding and jumping around the back of the court while his teammate stayed in no-man’s land by the net.
Returning the ball with powerful underhand swing and the occasional overhead slam, he did a fairly good practice match.  He kept track of every ball he hit out or each time he skimmed the net and when he was switched out with another team, he would run that number in his head as exercises.  If he got 4 out, it was 4 sets of squats or 4 sets of swings of his racquet.
You found yourself watching practice more than focusing on your studies.  It was interesting and more attention-grabbing than you thought.  You only focused solely on your work when Jungkook caught you watching with interest as he took a break to take small sips of his water.  Sending a shit-eating grin your way along with making his hand open and close like a butterfly, you stuck your nose back in your book.  Even turning your back on him and the courts for good measure.
He lied when he said he wouldn’t be a distraction.
Tumblr media
“So, who was the girl?”  Jungkook, out of breath from practice had just peeled off his sweater tennis jersey when a teammate of his marched up to him.  He turned to the inquisitive member to see his Captain, a certain almost smug look on his face.  Jung Hoseok was the top player of the tennis team like he had tennis embedded into the routes of his DNA. Jungkook took his towel, rubbing the sweat off his neck as he stood shirtless in the locker room like half of his team did as they waited for turns for the shower.
“You mean Y/n?” He questioned as she turned to sit on the stone bench, leaning against his shut- but unlocked- locker.  Taking a quick swig of his water bottle.  Hoseok plonked himself beside his golden teammate and friend with excited curiosity.  Jungkook just sighed.  “She’s a friend of mine, we’ve known each other since forever.”  He took another drink before he remembered something.  “She’s running for student council president,” he tacted on as Hoseok seemed to recall seeing some posters or something with her name on it for the upcoming election ballot.
“Oh yeah, I think I knew that.”
“Would you vote for her?” Jungkook asked tentatively.  He wasn’t interested in student council anything, to be honest, but you did. So maybe he could dock you a few votes or just spread your name around.
“I dunno man, I don’t do votes through friends.  I don’t usually get involved in student council issues.  Not my scene,” he shrugged.  Jungkook cupped his chin in thought, thinking of the best possible course of action to try and persuade his captain into putting a single tiny checkmark next to your name when voting comes around.
Hoseok watched the younger student sit in the privacy of his head and his thought.  He bit back a smile, rolling his lips over his teeth as he sucked in a breath.  Jungkook was a popular kid, attracting all sorts of attention and was his star player.  He could always throw him a bone to help his friend.  You looked studious enough as he watched you occasionally as you were always scribbling away on whatever topics you were jumping between. It was rare for Hoseok to see Jungkook tunnel vision focus on one person and their student council vote, something Hoseok knew the younger really didn’t care for.
Hoseok heard a shower shut off before someone was calling him. “This one is all yours, Captain!”
“Rock on!” He called back as he stood from the bench and stretched, his stomach flattening before he lowered his arms and stretched them over his sweat glistened chest.  “I’ll vote for her,” Hoseok said as Jungkook looked up to him.  Hoseok looked down at his sitting figure and slapped a smile on his face. “She was cute enough to earn a vote from me anyway,” he added with his thumb and forefinger under his chin.
Jungkook ended up chasing his Captain into the showers and throwing his bar of soap at him, earning a high squeal in return.  Jungkook almost may or may not have dumped his half-full bottle of ice-cold water over the shower divide right onto Hoseok head. Making the boy scream in at least three increasingly different- almost feminine octaves- Jungkook booked it out of the locker room.
“Jeon!”

You had just finished packing up your bag with tucked away papers and folders with the books you couldn’t afford to fit into the prison that is your bag held to your chest. Stepping carefully down and off the metal bleachers, you crossed the courts to leave, the team now all vacated.  You were hardly off-campus when cars from the team members started zooming past you- car way too flashy to be high schooler’s cars.
After three had passed you, it wasn’t long before number four rolled up.  Instead of going past like the reason, this one pulled close to the curb of the sidewalk and stopped.  You in turn also stopping as the passenger side window rolled down revealing the driver.
“I’ll give you a ride!” Jungkook who sat inside, leaned over his middle console shouted over the humming of his car. Contrast to his teammates, his car wasn’t looking as shiny and new but it wasn’t a lame car by any man’s standards.  It ran, got him from place to place and he acted like it was his unborn kin.  He even named the freaking hunk of aluminum.
You just rose your brow towards him in the shelter of his car.  He reached over and unlocked the passenger door, unlatching it and pushing the door a few inches open.  “Come on,” he sung.  “We live across the street from each other.”  You sighed, giving in to his persistence as you slid in.
The ride you were expecting to be quiet since it was only a ten-minute drive max was shockingly filled with conversation as Jungkook wasted no time in chatting as soon as you shut the door. Opening with topics of school activities to random weekend plans that all somehow lead to him bringing up the election. You looked skeptically at him, knowing he couldn’t care less about school affairs like student council.
“Who are you even running against anyway?” He didn’t even know that?
“You don’t follow school functions at all besides sports at all, do you?”
“Nah.”
You sighed.  “Kim Namjoon is my competition.”  Jungkook whistled.  “It’s not like I’m expecting to win.  Honestly, I’d be happy with the vice-chair if all else.”  In reality, you halfway expected yourself to lose.  Namjoon was a legend in both academics and his popularity that only seemed to keep skyrocketing.  He was handsome and clever, even if his physical activities abilities were closer to zero.
He can recite the alphabet backward but make that boy run a 100-meter dash and it was all over.  He’d tap out at meter 50 on a good day.  His coordination left much to be desired.  At least being student council president didn’t include the task of being active in sports.  He’d be doomed.
“Don’t settle for less when you don’t have to,” Jungkoo told you.  “So what- Namjoon is competing- big whoop.  You’re smart too.”
“Are you cheering me on?” You jested as he returned a shrug.
“Uh, duh.  I feel obligated as your longest-standing friend to be objectively on your side.
You placed a hand on your chest.  “I’m flattered,” you spoke with equal amounts of flattery and sarcasm.  He returned with a halfhearted ‘harharhar’.  “Really though, I’m willing to rack in some votes with my election posters.”
“You’ve made them?”
“Absolutely not.”  Jungkook just shook his head.  He pulled up at your house, sat by the curb as you unbuckle your seatbelt. Picking up your bag off the floor by your feet, you opened the car door.  Jungkook rolled down the window as you stepped out and shut the door behind you.  He leaned over the middle console again.
“Hey, Butterfly~,” you looked back at him over your shoulder. “I’m pretty damn artistic, just so the general public knows.”
“What, so I’m the general public now?”
“Well, considering your uber large communication circle-”
“Just say you want to help me with my posters and go.”  All he did was shoot you a shit-eating grin as he sat back up and moved to pull his car into his own driveway across the road.  Getting out and grabbing his bag from the backseat he heard you calling him. You were standing at your front door. “You coming or not you brain-dead jock?!”  You shouted, cupping around your mouth.
Jungkook sprinted across his yard, the street, your yard and up to your door to stand at your side in record time.  Rolling your eyes at his gleaming smile at being allowed to help, he followed your back inside the house.  You called out into your home to whatever parent was home at the moment that Jungkook was with you.
You avoid any distracting conversations that would pull Jungkook away, you scaled the staircase that was almost immediate to the front door, Jungkook following behind you.  In the safety of your room, you put your bag on the floor of your closet and ran back and forth between your closet, desk, and bookshelf for random things you just threw on your bed.  As you did so, Jungkook stood around, looking at your room.
He’s known you a long, long time but he can’t say he’s ever really had the time to look around and get a feel for your room.  Your room was an extension of you, coated in your favorite colors, hobbies, interests and was a perfect summary of your life until this point.  Posters of bands and of your favorite movies were cluttered on the wall (some even tacked to the ceiling).  Framed photos of your family members sat on your desk by your shut laptop and 3 different hex-boxes.  One filled with pens, another with markers and the third with pencils. Your bed was tall enough to hit Jungkook’s thigh with the boxspring supported mattress and a dark wooden bed frame. He curled his lips over his teeth to keep from smiling at the bubblegum pink bedspread lay across it.
He walked to your bed when he noticed that one dreamcatcher he bought you.  It was a gift because he knew you were having bad dreams and knowing you were being scared by yourself sucked, he wanted to help.  He smiled when he saw that small, metal whistle he gave you as a kid to help with bullying.
“I can’t believe you kept these,” he turned, gesturing to the dreamcatcher-whistle pair on the wall.  You looked at him before you looked at the two items then returned to taking a package of 15 poster boards and slamming them onto the floor in a giant ‘schwoop’.
“Of course I did, you gave them to me,” you said so nonchalantly, yet that one sentence made his heart lurch.
“Oh, I see.”  He cleared his throat. “So, gifts from me are special, eh?  I’m flattered,” he sang as he joined your floor-seated body down on the carpet. Half an hour later, you were sat in awe at the almost caricature sketch of you that Jungkook had drawn.
“Holy shit!” You yelled, a smile breaking on your face.  “That’s awesome, I didn’t know you could draw!”  He tutted as he sat straighter, obviously delighted from the praise.
“It’s a gift, what can I say.”  he smiled as he simmered down.  “Honestly, it’s a skill I don’t flaunt around because I don’t draw often.  It’s more of a stress relief ability, you know?  Like how people doodle on notes or homework to help them remember or concentration on stuff.”  His sincerity was instantly replaced with the same ego he put on on the daily.  “I get enough attention from my flawless performance in sports already.  It’d be just so suffocating to also be idolized as an artist.”  You swore his nose grew four feet in boastfulness.
“I can see it now,” you started, deciding to feed into his parade.  “Jeon Jungkook: prodigy of the Arts and Sports Balls.  Does the talent ever end?” You spoke in a faux-Shakespearian baritone.
“Now, you’re getting it!” Jungkook and you worked on your posters for hours before your mother offered you both a seat at the dinner table before you both starve.  It was nice having Jungkook over again, and you never realized how much of a friend he actually is.  He and you have always been in a sort of frenemies relationship.  Now, though, he was just a friend.  He felt like your best friend; the best friend you’ve been fortunate enough to have since you were 5.
No way in hell you’d tell him that though.  His ego would inflate so much he’d explode like a damn party balloon.
It was 8 pm when you decided enough work was done and you could relieve Jungkook of his artist duties for the evening.  Honestly, he’s done enough art on most of the posters that you could probably finish them up yourself.  You should really pay him for his efforts and time.  Maybe slip a $20 in his wallet when he’s not looking because you know he’d outright refuse money from you.
He picked up his bag and hoisted it on his shoulder as you walked him out of your room, careful not to step on the posters and down the stairs to the door.  The two of you stood on the front porch talking a moment in the sliver of remaining dusk.
“If you want, I can take you out for Chinese or something to say thank you for your help today,” you offered.  You really did want to pay him back, and if he wouldn’t accept money then he’s got to say yes to a free meal.  And Chinese?  He’s weak against the offer of it; saying no was almost taboo.
He leaned into you, a grin painted on his flawless, dumb face.  “Are you asking me out on a date, Butterfly?”  He teased with a wiggle of his eyebrows that almost made you laugh.  You just smiled and played along, throwing your hands up.
“Well, if you don’t want to-”
“I never said no!” He quickly saved.  He just trotted back to your door as he left your porch to his own house.  When you marched back up to your room, you started cleaning up your poster mess when your phone went off, the piece of technology sitting on your bed.
It was Jungkook texting you, only his contact name was Dreamcatcher.
Dreamcatcher:  So, when’s our date?
You wanted to ask back if he really thought it could be a date before you stopped yourself.  Why on earth would you even care if he thought it was a date or not?  You floundered before you sent him back saying it could be tomorrow- if he wanted.  Your face felt hot when you got the okay from him back.
You had a date with Jeon Jungkook.
It was Saturday and as much as he didn’t want to, Jungkook had to go to weekend tennis practice.  They had a game coming up, so Hoseok wanted to squeeze in as much practice as he could.  If Jungkook had it his way, he’d skip altogether and get to the part where it’s just him, you and Chinese food steaming in front of him.
Instead, here he was.  Lugging himself out of bed as Hoseok honked outside.  He offered to pick him up since his house was right on the way and Jungkook wasn’t going to pass up the chance to save on gas money.  So, with a mess of hair on his head and a wrinkled jersey and his duffle with his tennis uniform and shoes and racquet, he was out of his house and in the car with his captain.
“Good morning there, Kook.” Jungkook just groaned at him, tossing his duffle in the back as he slouched in the seat.  “Someone’s grumpy in the morning,” he laughed as he ruffled Jungkook’s already unsaveable mess of hair.  As hoseok pulled out, Jungkook looked up and could see you from your window.  Moving to see better, you had pulled back your curtains (probably to see what dickwad was honking so early in the morning).  You looked tired, and as you saw Jungkook in the car looking up at you, you waved.
He smiled and waved back before Hoseok was on the road.
“That’s Y/n’s house, ain’t it?’ Hoseok voiced as he pulled to the end of the road to turn.  Since school grounds are closed on the weekends, the team meets as the public courts.  “You told me she leaves across the street from you, but I didn’t think it was literal.”
“Yeah, it’s her house.”  Jungkook sat in his chair, pulling down the sun visor and flipping open the mirror to try and pat down his hair.  “How long do you think practice is going to run today?”  Hoseok tapped on his wheel a few time, thinking about the answer.
“Hmm, dunno.  I would like to be done no later than noon.” Jungkook looked at the radio, the clock showing it to be just past 8 am.  Jungkook nodded.
“Yeah, okay.  Noon is good,” he said more to himself than to Hoseok.  Pulling out his phone, he sent you a text. Telling you that a lunch date would be perfect if you were up for it since he wanted to be done around noon- and also bidding you a good morning because he's a gentleman. He smiled- giggled even- when you texted him back.
Butterfly:  It’s way too early to be this excited over Chinese food.  Yes, a lunch date is fine with my incredibly jam-packed schedule.  Sweat out all that testosterone hitting those sports balls, Jock.
“It’s 8 am,” hoseok started, pulling Jungkook from his micro-conversation with you, “what are you all giddy about?” Jungkook sat back, smiled as he bit his lip and bounced in his seat.
“I have a date today.”
Tumblr media
“All right, wrap it up!” Hoseok shouted after he blew his whistle slung around his neck as his team members fell to the court exhausted.  Contrary to his squirrel-like innocent face, Hoseok was absolutely ruthless when it came to pushing his team to get the results he wanted.  Drilling them on basics until their arm flew off or testing their reflexes by lining them up and bombarding them with back to back intense tennis serves.  Some freshmen swore they’d see Hoseok’s face behind a flaming tennis ball in their nightmares.
A rightful description to be fair.
Even Jungkook who had been training on the team with him since he became captain last year still got winded from Hoseok’s drills.  No one could say they were fruitless though, they always brought results one way or another.  That was his whole goal after all.
Jungkook lay on the tennis court, eyes closed as he had his mouth open like a fish as he took deep, shaking breaths.  Exhausted and coated in a gross layer of sweat, he wanted nothing more than to shower in the public locker room.  Some members had already lugged their wobbly, jelly bodies to do just that- aiming for a cold shower just to get their body moving again.  The sun was high as Hoseok sighed in content.
“Finished by noon, just like I wanted.”  He put his hands on his hips when he saw someone standing behind the mesh wire that surrounded the court. He smiled as he waved to the person in question.  He cupped around his mouth as he shouted to them.  “Hiya, Y/n!  You’re looking cute today!”  Jungkook’s eyes shot open when Hoseok mentioned you.  He shot up from his lying position on the blue court as he whipped to see you.
Jungkook looked at you with his mouth hanging open, Hoseok laughing as he slapped his thigh at his friend’s reaction.  He wasn’t expecting you to show up at the tennis courts, so his open mouth reaction wasn’t uncalled for per se. Yet, there you stood in a Jungkook’s favorite pair of jeans and a tee-shirt with a bowl of ramen on it.  Your small purse with your wallet, phone and probably a bottle of ibuprofen hanging low at your waist.
Meanwhile, Jungkook sat a sweaty, stinky tennis-abused wreck.  It didn’t stop him from smiling and hopping up to go greet you.  Standing in front of you on the other side of the fence.  “What’re you doing here?” He smiled as he asked.
“Why else?  A Chinese food date is calling our name, and I don’t know about you why I would kill for some crab rangoon right about now.”
“Oh, worry not, we’ll get them crabs.”  You laughed as you were soon ushering him off to shower and change.  Hoseok caught him in the locker room and took his chances to tease him again.
“She’s looking pretty cute,” he told Jungkook.  Jungkook already knowing this obviously.  “I didn’t know she was your date, I’m almost jealous.” Hoseok continued as he stripped off his jersey shirt, Jungkook doing the same as he stepped into one of the showers.  Jungkook didn’t reciprocate most of Hoseok’s chides, however right before he left, he grabbed his friend’s shoulder.  Now fully dressed in jeans, a white shirt and his duffle with his hair slightly dripping from his shower, he smiled almost menacingly to his captain.
“She’s cute, but she’s off-limits, Captain.”
“Right,” Hoseok replied with a shiver and risen hands. “Message received.”
Jungkook made his way outside and ran from the courts, pushing the fence gate open as he met with you who was sitting against the fence in the small patch of grass before the court.  Jungkook, helping you up, he was soon asking where you two were going to eat as Hoseok watched from the locker room’s door.  Smiling because there was nothing more natural than you two and Chinese food.
You ended up taking Jungkook to a rather new Chinese buffet that opened just over a month ago.  He was shocked and almost refused you foot the bill for it yourself since- let’s be real- buffet prices per person are steep.  You wouldn’t yield and proceeded to hush him as you both stood at the counter, ready to be seated for two.
Slid into a booth by a window that showed the street, you were both served your beverage of choice before the two of you were jumping up and loading up your first plates. You lost track of time between eating and talking with Jungkook.  Cracking stupid jokes, making everyday conversation and bringing up who was whose favorite teacher in school- as well as bonding over the one teacher everyone loathed for their cut-throat teaching practices.
Jungkook flinched and the guilt crept up his neck when the bill was slipped to you with the recycled line of ‘no rush, take your time’.  You swiped the black book with your receipt inside and slide your card in with it, closing it back up and setting it back on the table edge for your server to return to take it and efficiently drain your bank account of money.
“How bad was the damage?” He asked, arms crossed on the table with a stack of plates at his side; his Coke half drained of its second refill.
You just shook your head. “It wasn’t awful,” you waved and dismissed, but you had to be lying.  The food was good, the service and catering weren’t something to sneeze at and the place was brand-spanking-new for Christ’s sake.  It surely wasn’t as cheap as you were trying to make him believe.  “Don’t worry about it,” you told him, leaning against the table with a smile.  “I told you I’d treat you for your work on my posters.  Now, we’re even.”  Jungkook just sat in a huffy pout as you just laughed at his whining.
The bill was taken, returned and you signed off on the buffet’s copy of your bill before you were taking back your card, your copy of the bill, shoving them in your purse and standing up.  Jungkook following as you both left the restaurant with good reviews of the new place to eat.
You both stood on the street corner, people buzzing around going to and fro.  You stood at a traffic light, waiting for the light to change and allow you passage across the road.  Jungkook knew that the plan was to actually walk home since nothing else was planned.  He had a different idea, however.  Before you could start walking when the red hand switched to a blue walking person, Jungkook grabbed your hand and dragged you off backward away from the crosswalk.
“What are you doing?  Home is that way?”  You pointed behind you as you got dragged through people.  Jungkook stopped only when there was an opening between suits.  He smiled down at you, still holding your hand.
“I know.  I’m just being selfish now,” he chuckled.
You rose your brow.  “Selfish?”
He nodded in confirmation, hand squeezing around yours and shaking it in confirmation.  “Yup.  Selfish.  Let’s not go home yet.  Let’s walk around some. Shop, get some tea or something.”  You had no particular plans for the day, so you had no reason to object.  You solely convinced yourself that the reason you nodded your head and why you allowed Jungkook to tow you around after eating was that you had no other plans.  It definitely wasn’t because you may accidentally have a crush on him.  No way.
The two of you spent all afternoon shopping around from store to store, not really purchasing anything, but just eye shopping was a joy with the two of you in each other’s presence. Jungkook was glad that you were enjoying yourself as much as him (he made sure to always ask about every hour to see if you were still having fun).  He didn’t tug you around so that you wouldn’t have fun.  You didn’t get out much and had a small circle of friends, even if he teases you about how many people you know.
Knowing people and having friends are complete differences, and Jungkook felt like he was the culprit behind it.  He was always the one to disregard rules or stir up trouble since primary school.  You were the only one able to control him and before he knew it, he acted out solely for that purpose.  He knew that someone would soon fetch you and he would be muzzled by his tamer.  Because of that, and Jungkook’s popularity, you made more enemies than friends.  He was selfish though, he wanted your attention and the best way he got it was by acting like a blundering fool.
Now, with the past two days you’ve spent with each other, maybe that could change.  He was certain that now, he could call you without causing a ruckus. He could walk beside you and laugh with you as a just himself, not as someone who was just taking another lecture about being responsible in stride.  He wanted nothing more than to walk beside you.
“Jungkook!” You called to him as you both stood in some women’s clothing store you were practically drooling over every time you both passed the window. He decided to make it the last stop of the day since it was getting late and you both needed your rest. Jungkook has another early morning practice he dreaded.  “Look, isn’t this ring neat?  It’s supposed to be anti-negativity.”  You chuckled as you showed him a simple, dark grey ring.  It looked like it was somewhere between metal and stone, and was simple to a fault.
“Do you believe in that anti-negativity, anti-stress stuff?”  He raised an eyebrow.  You cupped your chin.
“Well, I don’t not believe in it.  It’s not like I’d wear it and expect to be positive just because it’s on.  It’s a dual effort, or maybe I see it as more of a type of mental cushion.  A mind over matter type of deal.”  Jungkook nodded as he picked it up from your palm.
“How much is it?”
“Just a few dollars.  I think I’ll get one, just for chuckles.”  You told him as he nodded again and trapped the ring in his hand.  You gasped as you tried to snatch his hand to get the ring back, but he just held it above his head, a grin on his dumb face as it was far out of your reach.  He even pushed on your head to keep you that much further away from it. He was soon walking to the desk where he placed it down.  You peeked around his back, seeing what he was doing.  “Jungkook?”  You asked as he just quietly hushed you.
The ring rang up as $3 something and you nearly slapped the $5 Jungkook handed the clerk.  He just pushed your hand away as she broke the change to hand back to him.  When it was all said and done, Jungkook took the ring from the counter and called for you two to be going home.  You chased after him in a fit of wanting answers.
When you both got outside, he slipped the ring on your finger and pat your hand.
“You didn’t have to buy it,” you mumbled as he just chuckled.  He lifted your hand and kissed where the ring sat.
“I don’t have to do a lot of things, but that won’t stop me. You know that” he sent a wink at you as you stood speechless.  He laughed at your red face as he began to tug you home at his side.  His hand holding yours that held your new ring.

“Are you going to my tennis match this weekend?”  Jungkook who was once against loafing over at your home asked as you sat at your desk, scribbling down your math equations. You turned in your chair to look at him lying on his stomach on your bed, comic open in front of him.
“I was planning on it.  Why?”  He smiled. Abandoning the comic and placing his cheeks in his hands, elbows pushing into your mattress.  You recoiled slightly at the look on his face.  “What’s with the face?”
“You’re going to support and cheer me on, right?”  You rolled your eyes as you just turned back to your work.  He flopped onto his back as he stared up at your ceiling. “I really hope we win, I have a whole celebration planned out if we do.”
“Oh, and what celebration plan is that?” You asked, not stopping writing the next step of your equation.
“It’s a secret,” he sung.
“That’s not fair, why’d you bring it up then!” You stopped, turning around again- feeling cheated.  He craned his neck to look at you, his face upside down and his bangs falling to expose his forehead onto your mattress.
“It’s a secret because it directly involves you!”  He cheerily told you with a giddy smile.
“I don’t have to buy you Chinese food again, do I?”  He shook his head, rolling back onto his stomach and planting his chin in the bed.
“No.  You don’t, it's free of charge celebration for you.”  That was all he was going to tell you as you just returned to work and he was soon nuzzling his face into the bedspread.  It smelt of your perfume.  The scent calming, the repetitive scratching of your pencil in your book and the silence and comfort of your room and your presence eventually made the tennis player fall asleep.
You were shocked at the surprising lack of conversation from the boy behind you.  When you turned to investigate, you smiled warmly at his sleeping figure surrounded by the pink of your bedspread.  The color complimented him somehow.  Quietly lifting yourself from your desk chair, you padded over to sit gently beside his body on the bed.  You pet at his hair as he moved to push his cheek further into the mattress.
“You’re spoilt,” you chuckled in a whisper.  You leaned to kiss the cheek that faced upwards towards the ceiling when your mother called for you.  Not yelling back to her in fear of waking the overworked tennis player, you silently came to your mother’s call downstairs.
Down the stairs, your mother stood in wait.  Drying her hands on the front of her apron.
“Oh my, where’s Jungkook?” She asked.
“He conked out on my bed.  I’m gonna let him sleep for a while.  What did you need?” She seemed to remember why she called you in the first place.  She had experimented on a new pie she hadn’t made before and you were volunteered as the taste tester.  You didn’t mind really- her baking was usually pretty tasty.
Half an hour, two pie slices and a kitchen clean up later, you trotted back up the stairs to your room.  Walking in and seeing Jungkook laying on his side, but awake now.  He groaned at you to show he actually perceived your presence; to which you just shook your head at.
“Have a pleasant nap?” He groggily nodded along your bed as you moved to sit beside him again.  He crawled to plant his cheek on your thigh, sighing contently.  He’s been a clingy sleeper ever since you two were children.  If you two were to take your afternoon naps in the same vicinity, he’d always end up clinging to you then too.
“You smell nice,” he slurred.
“Probably like the pie mom made.”  Jungkook just hummed and you both stayed in comfortable silence.  The sun kept teasing the horizon, signaling the nighttime and you tried convincing the sleepy boy on your leg to get up and go swagger himself back to his own home.  He kept denying you of this, however. “Jungkook, you need to go home.”  He just shook his head for the umpteenth time.  Soon, someone knocked on your door and your mom peeked her head inside.  Smiling seeing Jungkook half asleep on your lap.
“Darling, dad won’t be home until late tonight.  The poor man got roped into another double.”  You nodded as you gestured to Jungkook’s head.
“Alright, but can you tell him he needs to go home and sleep?  He won’t listen to me, but you’re an authoritative adult.”  You mother just giggled.
“Jungkook, dear.  You’re more than welcome to stay the night.”  He lifted his head as he nodded pathetically.  “I’ll call your mother and let her know then, sweetie.”  Then she back out of the room.
“No- wait. Mom!”  You looked down at the boy smiling winningly up at you.  You just lightly smacked his forehead with your fingertips.  “Spoilt jock. You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”  He just rolled his eyes, wanting to get comfortable again.
As Jungkook pretty much remained rooted to your bed, you showered and changed into a loose PJ crop off and sweats (foregoing the shirts matching pair of shorts as a whole).  Your mother brought some shorts and a tee for Jungkook to wear as he lay under our bubblegum blankets.
You stood at your desk, straightening up as Jungkook watched you.  You flicked off your desk light as he spoke up.
“You’re sleeping in here, right?” He questioned as you looked over your shoulder.
“Duh. It’s my room.  I’ll just make some palette on the floor with some pillows or something.”  You shrugged as Jungkook shot up, shaking his head in protest.
“No!  You can lay in your bed with me.  I’m not kicking you out of your bed.”  You just crossed your arm.  “Come on, Y/n.  Please?” You flinched as he clearly wasn’t against pouting to get his way.  In the end, you caved.
Shutting off the light and moved to lay in bed next to him.  Your back facing him, you felt him shift in the bed before he slung an arm around you- true to his koala sleeping habits.
“Is this okay?” He wanted to make sure you weren’t uncomfortable.
“It’s fine, Jungkook.  Go to sleep.”
“Okay.  goodnight.”  when he was sure you were asleep before he was, he turned you around- knowing not even Armageddon could wake you up.  He lifted and pushed your hair behind your neck and shoulder as he looked at you.  He was sleeping not long after.

It was the afternoon of the tennis match.  Jungkook was more fired up than usual, prompting Hoseok to ask if someone sparked him or something recently.  Nothing specifically came to mind.  He’s practically been freeloading at your house all week long- something about being good luck for his game? You didn’t even try to start to understand him and his logic truth be told.
When before game practice started, it was obvious to anyone that he was pacing himself.  Not wanting to wear himself thing before the game actually started.  He was instructing his members and strictly speaking with the teammate he’d be placed in doubles with.
When the rival team showed up on the court, they were already well disliked.  Their held high attitude irked the home team, making Hoseok more compelled to have his team crush them under their bigoted egos.
Throughout the series of games to be played, 2 sets in total (one for the senior players and another for the newbies), Jungkook would be in a double as well as a single.  The doubles would start out the matches as they would end in one on one sets- no doubt wreaking of testosterone.
When the court spectators began arriving, Jungkook was drilling his serves when you slid into a vacant bench spot at the front.  Dropping your purse at your feet and pull your phone out.  If someone thought you weren’t going to take pictures of Jungkook playing- they were so wrong.  You were hoping to score a perfect serve photo at least on time to hand up on your wall next to your dreamcatcher.
When he saw you, he smiled delightedly that you even showed up at all.  You had told him so, but a part of him was still worried.  He ran to you as he was a tad breathless from the practice beforehand on top of his jog over.
“Ready to play your best?” you asked him.
“Hell yeah.  Don’t fall for me too hard,” he said with a twirl of his racquet.  Hand on his hip and an air of confidence that wasn’t very egotistical per se, but very much adding to his tennis boy charm.  You rolled your eyes as you whisked his away back to the court.
You were probably too invested in the games once they started.  Getting especially riled up when Jungkook played. When his double match began, his first serve had you- and a few other school go-ers- up and pumping at the sheer force he slammed the ball with.  Always serving perfectly without losing a serve or getting called for a foot fault.  His first serve was always met with perfection and flawless follow-through.
His gameplay was a conversation of power that was released the moment he returned the ball by slamming it into the face of his racquet. He even pounded out a few kill shots, the rival team unable to even whisk the ball with their racquet and scoring a point because not once did his ball bounce out of court lines. Of course, his teammate did well also.  Placed by the net at the forecourt, he poached the ball to Jungkook any chance he got for some great offensive power.
Jungkook and his teammate won his game with a 40-15 score.
Through the other games in the first set, there were back to back deuces and a few love games as well.  The rival school may be arrogant, but they had game in them. Jungkook just barely finished his water when his single match was announced.  It was the final game in the second set, so this would finish off the sport entirely for the day before an overall winning team was announced.
His approach to his game was different than his double.  As he stood at backcourt, he seemed to look at every corner and draw out where his opponent may return or backhand the ball at or away from him.  The umpire was more than accustomed to calling faults and outs by now. Taking into account that the field of playing for singles is far narrower than doubles- the sidelines make his width movement and return planning a bit tricky to get a feel for.
Honestly, by the time it was all over, and he served his final overhand- his main goal to was land a putaway in the sweet spot of his racquet.  How he actually managed to pull that off, he wasn’t sure.  It all happened in a fit of adrenaline and when the game was called, all he did was cheer in a sheen coat of sweat and gasped breathes.
A 30 to nothing game: 30-Love.
After all was said and done, the home team was just barely able to claim the victory for themselves, Jungkook was whisked away in a flood of sweaty tennis men back into the locker room to shower.  You were ready to head home and expect him to barge into your home (again) when your phone buzzed.
Dreamcatcher: Don’t go home yet.  I have to celebrate with you!
Sat on the hood of his car, you wait.  Waving or saying hello to leaving tennis members who saw and passed you. You congratulating each one you could for their victory. It was only dark when Jungkook came jogging up to the car, putting his duffle on the hood beside you.
“Congrats on your win, jock.”  He smiled triumphantly.
“You doubted me and my skill?  No one is better than me with a racquet.”
“Hoseok is,” you countered.
“He is invalid to this argument specifically,” he chuckled as he climbed onto the car hood with you, the team pretty much dissolved now except for a few freshman stragglers who were waiting on rides back home to pass out most likely.  “Honestly, having you watch was a big motivational push.  I can’t look lame when you’re watching me.”
“You’re a high schooler who chased a yellow ball around a court, smacking it back and forth and drowning in sweat.  You always look lame,” that was a lie and you both knew it.  Even though that was exactly the case, Jungkook was probably cooler back there than he’s ever been in your eyes.  He knew that just as well as you did.
“Jealous?” He teased.  You rolled your eyes at him. “Oh, you ready to hear how we’re going to celebrate?”
“Isn’t that why I waited for you on your car, dummy?”
He snickered as he snapped in front of your eyes, making you go cross-eyed for a moment.  “Close your eyes.” You looked at him skeptically.  “What?  You think I’m going to draw on your wit a marker or something?”
“You would, wouldn’t you,” you sneered.
“Just close them.”  You caved as you did as you were told.  Your eyes were closed for a maximum of a few seconds before they flew open when you felt Jungkook kissing you.  Holding behind your neck, it was like he was turning even kissing into a sport.  And you were sorely losing.  When he pulled back, he laughed- literally- into your face.  “You look like a glow stick,” he chided.  You burned and just flounder back at him.
“You’re blushing just as much as me! Loser!” You whacked at his arm, but with hardly any force at all.  He laughed again, gripping his stomach.  When he settled you were holding your cheeks, trying to mentally will them to cool downJungkook grabbed your chin and turned your face with his index finger to face him again.
“Our celebration is another date, but this one is on me.  As a serious gesture of how much I legitimately want you to recognize me as someone who feels a hell of a lot towards you.”
“I think I can recognize that just fine,” you muttered as he chuckled at you.  “How about a date, but maybe if you consider maybe considering me as someone who likes you too?” He placed his forehead on yours, puckering at your nose and making it tingle before you pulled away from him and sneezed into your arm.  Him laughing at your sensitive sneezing before you unleashed a tirade of wimpy socks to his arm.
He caught them easily enough before he was gearing up to kiss you again.  “I think that’d count as a direct kill shot, Butterfly.”  With all this good luck recently, who knows.  Maybe you actually can win that student council election.

Oh right running into anyone and everyone you adore looking absolutely devin with sweaty bodies touching and bass booming under your feet. But what adventures are to come when Y/N and Viviana come face to face with Coachella ?
Tumblr media
“Viviana I can’t believe you actually got tickets for Coachella. I can’t believe the house you got for Coachella weekend. I can’t believe that we are here!” I say excitedly gripping her arm.
“Bitch, I can’t believe that we might run into the Dolan Twins!” she says to me smiling.
“Okay yes that is a huge plus but, Day 1 will be the most exciting especially since it’s the first time we’ll be going!” I say releasing her walking up to the house.
She shook her head at me and opened the door revealing the Greek interior architecture. I walk in setting my hand bag on the ground taking everything in.
“Holy shi- is this real life right now?” I questioned looking up and spinning around to view everything.
“If you think this is amazing just wait till you see the backyard and bedrooms, not to mention the bathrooms.” Viviana says.
I looked at her and smiled then found my way to the stairs that spiraled up to the bedroom I was staying in. It was completely white with a sliding door that led out to the balcony that overlooked the backyard. Below me I saw the pool that had a huge baby blue clam bed next to the pool with a pearl shaped pillow that was silver and sparkled in the sun.
“V, I am never leaving.” I say looking away from the pool and up at the view of trees and mountains that were decorated by the sun’s beautiful rays and wind causing them to sway.
“Okay, sure, you say that every time you visit a new place. Watch once we get to Coachella you’ll never want to leave there either. Speaking of which, we have to get unpacked and set up for tomorrow after that we can get pizza and just chill.” Viviana says walking out onto the balcony.
“Ha. Yeah, I fall in love with places too easily. But, have you seen the view and the trees? It’s so beautiful. We should camp outside tonight and just watch the stars.” I say leaning against the railing watching the beautiful scenery.
“You’re fucking crazy. There’s bugs and animals. No way in hell am I sleeping out here, especially the day before Coachella starts. I am not getting dirt in my pores and you shouldn’t either,” she says stepping away to go back inside.
I sigh and look down pushing myself off the railing and going inside to unpack.
It took about an hour to get everything unpacked an organized, I had brought makeup and wigs, so I didn’t have to dye my Y/H/C hair and damage it. I also brought any and all facial cleansers because we were going to be in the desert for 3 days. I had hung all 3 outfits up in the closet and folded extra clothes I brought because no way in hell was I not going to shower and be forced to wear glitter covered outfits for the week that we were going to be staying at the house. Y/F/N and I had gotten walkie talkies set up on a private channel to find each other if we got lost and 3 cases of water so we could take 5 bottles of water with us for each day. After everything was unpacked and organized I made my way down the spiraling stairs and through the living room and into the kitchen where V was sitting at the island scrolling through her phone.
“Hey, you order the pizza yet?” I asked going to the fridge to get a water.
“No, I was waiting on you. I did see some updates on Twitter though, involving the twins and well, the drama is crazy.” she yawned out.
“When is it not though? Like honestly people need to leave them alone. But let’s not get into it. I’ll order a pepperoni and Hawaiian pizza and set up a movie.” I say after taking a drink of water.
“Sounds good. I’m getting blankets and pillows to fort up the living area.” She yelled to me running upstairs.
I smile and pull my phone out of my pocket and order the pizzas.
After the pizza arrived, we watched a random movie as we ate in the fort. Halfway through the movie and one pizza gone we fell asleep surrounded by pillows and blankets. The next thing I knew my phone was going off at 6 am which resulted in Viviana hitting me in the face with a pillow followed by groaning which signaled me to turn it off. I grabbed my phone and stopped the alarm. I made my way to my room and changed into some shorts and a loose tank and pulled on running shoes. I quietly made my way out of the house and into the woods near the park for a morning run.
I found myself at an overlook. The view was impeccable with the sun rising and colors blending together, putting me in a trance. The trance was broken when I notice movement below, a tall broad figure jogging through the hiking trail. The figure belonged to a man, as the sun rose more his golden shoulders glistened with sweat, his hair flopping with each step. It was like the trance from the sunrise was transferred to him. I couldn’t stop watching him until he disappeared deeper into the trail.
“What the hell was that?” I asked myself. I shook it off and ran back towards the house. By time I got back it was 7 am and I was drenched in sweat. I took a shower once I got back. After my shower, I put on my first Coachella outfit. I was wearing a white tank top with strings that tied in front of my chest with high waisted black shorts and a hunter green jacket. I put on black ankle boots and accessorized with a necklace that reached my waist.
Once I was dressed I applied my makeup, natural smokey eye and maroon lips. I put on my pink Ombre white high pony wig and grecian leaf new forehead crown. I went to the kitchen and saw Viviana wearing a black crop top with maroon jean shorts and black knee-high boots that had fishnets underneath. Her hair was loosely curled draping around her shoulders, she had dark smokey eye and a light pink lip.
“Okay, V. I see you.” I squeal out and she looks at me and laughs.
“Stop… we have to get going soon if we want to make it on time.”
“Okay. Okay. I am so ready to see Kyle perform today. Oh my gosh and The Neighborhood, St. Vincent, SZA, and The Weeknd. Just today is going to be crazy.” I say while packing up our bags for Day 1.
“For sure, not to mention how many social media stars and celebrities we will be seeing there.” V says taking her bag. I nod.
“We should get breakfast on the way there. I mean it is only 9 am. Coachella gates don’t open till 11.”
“You just want to go to an acai bowl place to see if you can run into Grayson” She teased.
I rolled my eyes and smiled.
“Maybe it’s a little true but if we run into Grayson we also run into Ethan…” I wink and nudge her.  She laughs and grabs her car keys.
“Fine, you win. Using my love for Ethan against me. That isn’t fair.”
I scrunch my nose at her and smile. After our playful teasing ended we headed out and went to the closest acai place. Once we arrived we saw girls squealing and crying. I looked over at Viviana and raised my eyebrow while smiling.
“No. We are getting the acai bowls and going.” She scolded me.
“Ugh, fine. I won’t go and ask them if they are acting like that ‘cause of the twins. Mainly ‘cause I already know they were here… thank you, Instagram… but fine let’s get the bowls and go.” I replied rolling my eyes.
“You’re entirely something else. In a good way.” She reassured me.
“Thanks, I guess.” I say while laughing.
We were waiting in line to get the acai bowls when I realized everyone was staring at us.
“Well this isn’t awkward or anything.” I mumbled out.
“What?” she questioned.
“We are the only ones dressed like this here. Seriously, everyone is wearing normal clothes. We need to hurry up and get the hell out of here.” I say looking around getting uncomfortable.
“Why? We look hot. Stop trying to cover up. Let them stare it shows them what they can’t have.” She says making me loosen my grip on my jacket and letting it slip down my arms. “Okay. I got this. We got this.” I say smiling and nodding.
We got our acai bowls and left. We were about 5 mins away from Coachella grounds and we had finished our acai bowls. Now we were just blasting music and getting hype as we got closer to the festival. We pulled into the most available parking spot. Once V put the car in park I got out throwing my bag over my shoulder and adjusting my VIP wristbands.
“I can’t believe were actually here...” I say shutting the car door.
“Neither can I. Now let’s go before we miss any performances!” She shouts while pulling my arms and entire body towards the entrance.
“Okay! Okay! I can walk on my own!” I laugh out.
“I know just hurry the hell up!” she shrieked out and took off running. I shook my head and ran after her, I finally caught up at the entrance because we had to scan our wristbands.
We were finally inside, I grabbed at V tapping her like crazy.
“Look, Look, We’re here. Oh my gosh we’re here” I screamed out.
We ran to the Sahara stage until it was time to head to the main stage. When we reached the main stage Los Angeles Azules were performing and we saw Bryant recording some of the performance on his phone. I look over at V who was already looking at me. We walked closer to Bryant but not close enough for him to notice, we stood there enjoying the performance.
“We literally just saw the Yodeling Walmart Boy perform with Whethan and now we see Bryant right here. What is happening?” I whisper to Viviana. She laughed.
“Life. Life is happening and giving us this amazing opportunity.” She whispered back. “Opportunities?” I question at the last minute when she bumped into me causing me to stumble back only to be caught by someone.
“Oh my gosh I am so sorry. My fri-” I stopped once I saw who caught me.
“It’s fine.” He said chuckling. I stood up.
“Sorry, again. Thank you for catching me though.”
I turn my neck to glare at V who was smirking.
“No problem. Not everyday I get to catch a beautiful girl from falling.” He flirted which made me look back to him.
“I think I did fall though… Umm… sorry. Bad attempt and now I am making a bigger fool of myself. Bye.” I say nervously while laughing a bit while turning to walk away.
He grabbed my right hand with his left spinning me around.
“You aren’t making a fool of yourself. I’m Grayson.” He smiled down at me.
“I know, but I’m Y/N and the person behind me is my best friend Viviana.” I say looking up at him through my lashes.
He smiled down at me and I looked away and as soon as I did Bryant came over
“Hey Gray we should go find E and get more photos.”
“For sure. Y/N want to come?” he asked me. I looked at him bewildered.
“You mean like go with you and Bryant to find Ethan?” I questioned. He smiled and nodded “That’s the general idea. You can even bring um... V- Vivi-”
“Viviana.” She interrupted him. “We would love to go with you. Right Y/N?” she nudged me “Oh yeah. Totally, for sure.” I mumbled out.
“Great. Yo, Bry, Y/N and Viviana are going to come with.” He shouted towards Bryant.
Bryant smiled and nodded, we all began walking away from the main stage to find Ethan. We found him by the food trucks drooling over the acai bowls.
“Ethan!” Grayson called out to him pulling his attention from the trucks. He ran over to join us “Yo Gray. Who’s this?” he asked.
“I’m Y/N. Just met Grayson when my friend Viviana “accidently” bumped into me and Grayson caught me” I said smiling a bit while air quoting.
“Oh cool. I’m Ethan.”
“This is Viviana or V. By the way.” I say pulling Viviana’s’ arm.
“Oh. Hi” she waved shyly. I heard everyone near the main stage start chanting Really, Really, Really, Yeah,
“V, we got to go. Kyle is performing now!” I grab at her arm. “Sorry guys. Just been waiting all day to see him.” I yell over my shoulder as we run to the main stage.
We reached the main stage finally.
“Y/N are you stupid you just left Ethan and Grayson. We aren’t going to ever see them again.”
“I wouldn’t be too sure about that. Grayson loves SuperDuperKyle.” Ethan whispered between us which made me jump.
“E you can’t just scare them like that.” Grayson said coming from behind me smiling.  I laughed and rolled my eyes.
“Glad you guys could join us” I smiled at him and started jumping and chanting with the rest of the crowd.
“Don’t Wanna Fall in Love” played and I looked at Gray and smiled.
“Yo, you gonna show us some moves, possibly the same ones from the warehouse?” I asked him.
“I remember that I gave him so much shit about it.” Ethan said laughing. I rolled my eyes.
“You did great. Just ignore him.” I looked at him placing my hand on his shoulder.
He grabbed my hand and spun me around in front of him, he gripped my waist and rested his chin on top of my head. We swayed to the rest of the set until iSpy came on and we had to move to avoid a mosh pit. We gave up on finding a new spot, so Grayson offered to go get ice cream for us, I decided to wait with Ethan and Viviana. I was listening to V and E talk about which bands they were excited to see, I left them alone to talk and headed over to the food trucks to see if Grayson needed help. When I saw him, he was talking to a girl.
“Hey, I know you from YouTube. I love your videos and they’re super inspiring.” She said to him awkwardly laughing a little.
“Really? Thank you so much that means a lot.” He replied to her smiling, “Want anything?” He asked her pointing to the menu.
“Oh my god no. Of course not. Thank you” She said sweetly.
“Oh okay.” He said, and she gave him a hug which he returned.
“See you around” he said.
“Yeah see ya” she called out as she walked off.
I walked over to him and smiled at him.
“Hey, why are you looking at me like that?” He asked.
“Okay, it’s kind of weird…but, I like seeing how you interact with fans.” I explained.
“It’s an amazing experience I appreciate you guys. If I can make you guys happy even just taking a picture or talking to you it is completely worth it.” He says while paying for the ice cream. “Grayson, you literally just looking at us is enough to make us happy” I giggled out. He laughed and handed me the ice cream he got for me
“It’s kind of shocking to hear that. Not entirely used to this still.” I smiled at him.
“I mean majority of your fan base is female which you should know from tour. You’re attractive and athletic and you have a great personality at least from what I can tell from your videos and well now that I’ve met you and hung out with you. I honestly can’t believe that I am here… That I even got to meet you…” I say staring up at him losing my words.
“Yeah… I don’t meet a lot of people who are quite like you though.” He finished looking down at me. I laughed breaking the gaze.
“I bet. Not a lot of girls would walk away from you to go and enjoy a music performance like 4 minutes after meeting you” he grabbed my hand as we walked back over to Ethan and Viviana. “You’re not going to do that, again right?” He asked.
“Hmmmm… I don’t know. If I do what are you going to do about it?” I ask cocking my eyebrow while smiling.
“Guess I have to stay close then.” He let go of my hand and draped his arm carefully around my neck pulling me closer towards him and I wrapped my arm around his waist.
“Yo, Gray. Where we headed now?” Ethan asked him taking note on how close me and Grayson were.
“I don’t know. Where to now, Y/N?” he inquired.
“I kind of want and need to see The Neighborhood.” I say looking up to Grayson licking the ice cream from the cone.
“Alright, The Neighborhood it is. Let’s go.”
We walked back over to the mainstage where Kyle was performing, and The Neighborhood was now setting up.  Bryant met back up with us from taking photos of other YouTubers that were here.
One of the first songs they played was Scary Love which I adored and sang along with every word. Grayson just watched me the entire time and spun me around a couple times. Ethan and Viviana were exchanging numbers which made me think about giving Grayson mine. He noticed my dancing falter and pulled me into him. I stumbled into his chest in which he took the opportunity to hug my waist as I collected myself.
“You okay?” He asked me. I nodded.
“Yeah, why do you ask?” I retorted reaching my arms around his neck. He chuckled.
“No reason…”
I pulled away from him when I heard Daddy Issues come on.
“Hey, Grayson can I borrow y/n for a minute?” V asked pulling my hand. He nodded, and I stumbled trying to keep up with her as she dragged me away
“What is going on?” I questioned her.
“Okay so Ethan and I were talking, and I somehow talked him into coming back to the house later tonight, but he wants to bring Grayson too. I was wondering if you could keep Grayson busy while I try to get closer to Ethan?” she pleaded.
“For sure. Like it’s honestly so weird how close we have gotten in just the past couple hours that we’ve been here, and we haven’t even had a ‘get to know you’ talk it is just a comfortable thing as if we’ve known each other for years. I wouldn’t necessarily call it keeping him busy though as much as just hanging out with him and getting to know him more.” I respond.
“Ahh yay! You’re the best.” She squealed while hugging me then running back to Ethan.
I smiled and rolled my eyes I looked around for a little before making my way back to Grayson, when I got closer to the main stage where The Neighborhood was performing Sweater Weather I noticed Grayson wasn’t there anymore and neither was V or E.
“Okay. Don’t really know what to do. I literally just saw V though.” I thought out loud.
“Yo make sure you get some of those cotton sticks!” I heard Ethan shout from behind me. I turned around so quick.
“Ethan what the hell are cotton sticks?” I yelled to him while laughing noticing the same girl who was talking to Gray earlier laugh.
“Cotton candy.” He said smiling like a 3-year-old getting called adorable.
“Okay then… Where’s Gray and V?” I asked him.
“Ryan met back up with us so Gray is with them by the disco ball trash can. I am on my way back to them. Come on.” He said nodding his head over towards where they all were.
“Ethan wait up!” the girl called after him in which he made a confused face.
“I’ll see you when you get over there.” I say walking away slowly just listening in on the conversation.
“What’s up...?” he asked.
“The sky, pfft… you’re the best youtubers who’ve lived on planet earth.” She said after a small awkward moment. “Oh, oops... That was cringe.”
At this point I was half way out of earshot.
“Are you enjoying ‘Chella’?” he questioned.
“Heck yeah. It’s awesome.”
I stopped listening when I saw Grayson adjusting the part of his ripped jean armband.
“Hey, there you guys are. Kind of wondered off for a while. Sorry.” I say which made Grayson look up from his armband.
“Hey. I was going to look for you, but V said you would find us.” He said pulling me into a hug. “Well okay then someone missed you.” Ethan chuckled wrapping his arm around Viviana’s waist.
“I mean can you blame me?” Gray asked.
“Oh my gosh. No. Stop. Both of you.”  I say pulling away from Gray laughing.
“Oh, by the way this is Ryan. Ryan this is Y/N.” Ethan introduced us.
“Hey. I actually know who Ryan is. You guys have collabed before and it was fucking hilarious I loved it.” I blurt out.
“The amount that Y/N watches your old videos is crazy.” V interjected.
“Hey! They’re funny, leave me alone. You freaking binge watch them with me you have no room to talk.” I defended.
Grayson and Ethan laughed at us
“Oh yeah., you guys want to laugh? Cause I have things I can say that will make you cringe instantly.” A teasing smile played on my lips after I spoke those words. The twins exchanged a worried look.
“Here are your ‘Cotton sticks’ Ethan.” Bryant returned with at least 8 of them and his camera. “Bryant do you want some help with all of that?” I asked, and he nodded.
I took a couple of them and handed one to V.
“Cotton candy yum.” Grayson said taking a bite out of one that was in my hand from over my shoulder.
“Hey! If you wanted one you could have just asked.” I smiled at him holding one out for him to take.
“Nah, I like it when you hold it.” He licked his lips and grinned.
I was going to respond but Ethan came over and took 3 of them from me leaving the one Gray bit from.
“Well okay then…”  I say as Grayson takes another bite. “Damn I might as well just hand feed the cotton candy to you” I joked.
“That’s a fantastic idea.” He said while smiling at me, I shook my head
“Are you serious?” I asked raising my eyebrow.
He nodded while grabbing a piece of cotton candy and holding it against my lips I shook my head no.
“I’m not eating that.” I laughed out
“Yes you are” He grinned now
“No… I’m really not. Grayson, I mean it. Oh my gosh stop.” I backed away from him while laughing.
I ran around our group as he chased me playfully, he ended up grabbing my waist from behind and spinning me around.
“Grayson!” I managed to yell out in the middle of my fits of giggles.
“What?” He asked putting me down, so I could face him. Once I turned around, my eyes immediately made contact with his and I was entranced. He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me closer not breaking eye contact until he looked at my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips gently against his while standing on my tippy toes. He placed his hands on my waist ho
lding me steady and kissed me back.
We were in our own little world, unbothered and carefree smiling into the kiss.
“Grayson!” Ethan screamed which made us break the kiss.
“What E?” He asked annoyed.
“You know we can’t do that. Not here. Fans might see.”
“He’s right Gray… Look me and Vivi will go and check out some more bands. We can meet back up during the Weeknd’s performance.” I say placing my hand on his shoulder.
“Come on bro.” Ethan said dragging Grayson away letting my hand slide down his arm.
Vi pulled me back to the main stage where Vince Staples was setting up to perform. We were having fun dancing around like no one was watching which they weren’t, after the set we went to use the bathrooms.
“What are we doing after we leave?” Vivi asked.
“Well I know for sure we are going to go home but maybe on the way stop for some In-N-Out.” I answered.
“In-N-Out sounds amazing.” I hear Grayson suddenly say from behind me as he wrapped his arms around my waist and resting his chin upon my shoulder.
“Grayson, we talked about this.” Ethan warned pulling him off of me.
“Right sorry E.”
“Okay so I guess you guys are coming with us after to get In-N-Out too?” I questioned. We all agreed to it after me and Vivi went to the bathroom and were walking back to the main stage to see SZA perform.
On the way back to the stage I tripped over my own feet and stumbled into a bleach blonde girl wearing a two piece purple bikini.
“Oh my gosh I am so so sorry-” I say going to help her up.
“Wait… you're Tana Mongeau-”

Surprising Jared on Tour
Authors note: I’m sorry the intro is so long. It’s just setting the scene. Anyway as usual I hope you enjoy. x
WARNINGS: smut.
Jared Imagine.
Surprising Jared on tour.
“Y/N I miss you so much” Jared whined down the phone. “I know I miss you too” “We’ve been together a year and a half now and I swear it gets harder to leave you, beautiful” “Well it sure doesn’t get any easier babe” I sighed. “So how have you been” He carefully asked knowing things haven’t been the best lately as I’ve been filling him in via text. “Honestly… not good. Tina, my boss, won’t accept my report. So she’s making me write out another plus one more because apparently I fucked up this one. My laptop is broken so now I have to work off of my phone which is horrible because the screen is so bloody small and… my new assistant keeps bringing her home life into work. She keeps fighting with her boyfriend, so he rings the office and shes constantly on the phone therefore I’m not getting any messages because clients cant get through to her and she’s slacking. So I stay at the office until 8 pm trying to pick up the pieces and have done for the last month” I feel the tears forming in my eyes and my voice cracks when I say “ and I just need a cuddle”. I hear Jared sigh on the phone. “Sorry babe, I’m just feeling sorry, for myself, I just miss you a hell of a lot that’s all”.
“Y/N listen. It’s okay to feel sorry for yourself, it sounds like you’ve got a lot on your shoulders right now and I’m sorry I cant be there” “Oh for fuck sake! Zeus has just pooped on the floor”. I interrupted. “Oh sweetie. After you’ve dealt with that you need to go and have a relaxing bath then bed” Jared convinced me. We said our goodbyes, tears leaving a transparent path down my face. I sat in the chair with my face in my hands. Zeus, the new bi-eyed Siberian husky puppy, (Jared got me before he left) came over to me and started to lick my tears. “Sorry bud, I’m not mad at you I wasn’t watching. Do you, your brother and sister want to go outside?” I asked them. All three of them ran to the patio door. Hunter, he was our first husky boy, then Echo, my princess came. All rescued of course. Such good company for when I was on my on. I closed the patio door behind them leaving the cool autumnal air outside. I boiled some water so I could make a tea. After rinsing the spoon I let the dogs back in and locked the door behind them and closed the curtains. I walked up the stairs with my pack behind me. Walking into the dully lit bedroom I rested my tea on my bedside table. Dragging my feet into the en-suite bathroom I started to run the bath. Took of my clothes and put them in the hamper. I dimmed the lights and slowly sank myself into the hot, bubbly water. Echo, my lovely girl, came in to check on me. She could always tell when I was upset. She licked my tears and made her way back to the bedroom. I watched the water slowly disappear down the drain and dried myself off. I walked into the bedroom and was met by 3 sets of eyes that glanced up from the bed. Picked out some pajamas, got into bed and started drinking my tea. *The Next Day* Tina called me into her office. “Y/N, why have you been staying until 8 pm?” She asked looking slightly pissed off. “Well I’ve been having problems with Lola, my new assistant” I continued to explain my troubles in the office. “Right let me sort something. Come back to me in 20 minutes”. I nodded and walked away. Back at my desk there was a parcel wrapped in brown paper and a red bow with a note. It read ‘To my gorgeous hard working woman. Love you. J x’. I opened it and it was a brand new mac-book. Bless him. He was truly my angel. I spent the 20 minutes setting everything up on the laptop. Once i’d finished I walked back into Tina’s office. “Y/N, for the past month you have been staying until 8 pm and sometimes later. You must be under a lot of stress. I understand your partner is away too. So I’ve made a executive decision, I’m going to give you 2 weeks off. You need to spend that time catching up with anything you need to, I’m also taking your first report. Don’t worry about the other two. I’ll get the editor on the first one and well, we’ll make it work”. Standing there in complete shock I didn’t know what to do. “I want you to leave normal time today 5 pm okay?” I nod my head, thanked her and walked out of her office with a beaming smile. Sat back down at my desk I looked up out of my door to see Lola on the phone to her boyfriend once again. I didn’t mid so much today because I wasn’t really getting any work done. I texted Shannon. ’ Hey Shan, Hope you’re all doing okay. I need a really big favor please. x He got back to me instantly. ‘Hey angel, all good here thank you, and yourself? What do you need? x ’ 'Yep all good here too thank you, well I have been given 2 weeks off from tomorrow, I want to fly out and surprise Jared. I need country, area, and hotel please. x’ 'That’s awesome. Yes I can do. I will send the details over for tomorrows location x’. After half an hour of speaking to Shannon I had booked my plane ticket and Shannon rang the hotel to let them know I was coming to stay with Jared. I had also phoned up a friend and she said she would look after the dogs. The only thing I needed to do was pack my bags. 5 pm came around faster than expected. I literally sped home and greeted by my 3 fur babies. A quick dinner was all I needed I grabbed my suitcase and stared packing. My friend came over to pick up the dogs and left. I went to bed.          My flight was at 1 pm. I quickly put on some clothes and a little makeup. The flight to Paris took around 11 hours. It was 9 pm in Paris luckily their hotel wasn’t too far from the airport. I arrived and checked in at the hotel. First thing I did was take a shower, thankfully the show didn’t end until 10:30 pm. I dolled myself up and made my way to the show. Shannon had hidden a backstage pass for me in the room, I made sure to take it with me. Finally backstage in their dressing room, I began to feel nervous. I could hear the show coming to a close and heard the rumbling of the boys down the hall. The door swung open. Jared’s face was shocked but he was so happy “Oh My God babe, what? How? I thought you were working. “Surprise” I shout. “I’ll explain later”. I received a hug off of Shannon and Tomo. “Uh, we’re gonna go for a walk” Tomo said. They both left the room and Jared and I were alone. He sat on the couch and patted the space next to him. I sat down. “How was the show?” I asked while stroking his hand. “Awesome and even better now you’re here” I giggled “Thank you for my gift by the way, I have something for you when we get back to the hotel room” I said putting my leg over so I was straddling him. He raised his eyebrows as I gently rocked my hips. “Oh really?” he questioned “Oh yeah” I moaned slightly bending down to kiss just below his ear. I could feel one hand on my ass and the other leading down to my panties that were already wet from me grinding, as he was sucking on my collar bone leaving little marks of lust behind. Shannon walked in. “Hey Jared sorry can I used your charger… can you two not wait until we’re back at the hotel?” he giggled. “Charger’s over there” Jared pointed. My hips still slowly bumping into his growing erection. His hand still rubbing my sensitive nub with his thumb and slipped a finger in. “Fuck” I whispered. Maybe a little too loud because Shannon definitely heard. “Guys, I’m still in the room. Please wait before anything else happens. I don’t want to watch this live sex show” We all laughed. “Well we should make our way back to the hotel. Jared said ceasing all physical contact between us. "Yeah good idea” Shannon insisted and left the room to find Tomo. “Leave the skirt on, take off the panties” Jared instructed. He put them in his pocket as I didn’t bring my purse.   We arrived at the entrance of the hotel and made our way to the elevator. Jared and I stood at the back. while everyone filtered in front of us. He lifted the back of my skirt and began to squeeze my ass again. He pushed open my leg a little and found the hole again, rubbing up and down the pushing a finger in. Slowly pumping in and out. I tried not to squirm, it was very hard. He was so good! We reached our floor and his finger retreated. He licked what was left of me off of his finger which just made me hornier. Once in our hotel room he pushed me up against the door kissing me forcefully. I escaped his grip and lead him towards the bed. Undressing him I could see a huge erection in his underwear. Once freed I held him in my mouth. Slowly bobbing my head, forgetting how big it actually was. I love the sound of his moans. He thrusts into my mouth. I feel him go all the way down my throat. He pulls me up so I am positioned right above his face. Lowering myself down I moan upon impact. He mouth is magic when it comes to foreplay. Jared knows how to control me. He knows all of my sweet spots and if he does it just right can make me cum at the drop of a hat. I can’t take anymore. I slowly move back down his chest so his dick is aligned with my entrance, before he goes in he rolls me over and starts by placing one finger then another he’s making a come hither motion and making wriggle. “J, don’t be a tease, I need more of you. I need you to fuck me, Please” I beg. “Our wish is my command” and slowly entered.  We moan in unison. “I have missed you so much” He said. “Mmmhmm” was all that could escape my lips and I was concentrating on not cuming too early. His slower pumps turned into rougher ones. I realize I cannot hold it any longer I need release. My eyes rolled back and my body uncontrollably jerking as he still stroked my clit while I had reached my climax. Him seeing me like this made him ready too. He went in with deep long thrusts, faster and faster until I was filled with his hot liquid. He collapsed on my chest and began caress my arm saying “I’m so glad you’re here. How long can you stay for?”. “I’m glad too. sometimes all I need is you, and just a little under 2 weeks”. I replied placing sensual kisses all over his face. He rolled of me and laid on his back with his arms behind his head. I cuddled up to him. “Well then we’re doing that every fucking night” Jared chuckled.
P.S. If you’ve made it this far down thank you <3
Also do you guys prefer my imagines with gifs and pictures? and would you rather me write in first person or not? (like would you rather me write : You and Jared walked to the lobby. Or, Jared and I walked to the lobby?)
Once again thank you. Beautiful echelon family <3 x x x

Detailed report of Kalafina“Harmony”~Premium LIVE vol.1~ in Osaka
I found a lovely and super detailed live report of this event and thought I’d translate it for all of you. I am sure everyone is curious about their special premium live, I for one, was dying to find out more about it and boy was it amazing. It’s really unfortunate that I couldn’t make it to this particular event even though I am a fan club member now and I could have easily gotten tickets. It’s mostly because I only recently started my job and I couldn’t possibly get this many days off. *sighs* Oh well, this was Vol.1 so there is gonna be a Vol.2 and I will be doing everything within my power to attend that.
Edit: I forgot to mention that this is a report for the first performance of the evenung. As you may know, Kalafina held two consecutive perfrformances that night. The chosen summer song was different in the second performance!
Without further ado, let’s start with the report 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
Tumblr media
The whole live lasted about an hour and a half. When you arrived two people led you to your table and you were served a special drink called “Alleluia” (you could choose between alcoholic and non-alcoholic). For food they later served roast beef with French fries and bruschetta, according to fans, the portion sizes were pretty big.

Right from the start all you could see on stage was the grand piano (since it would only be Sakurada and the girls).
Tumblr media
Apparently they wore the outfits which they also wore for their Harmony Magazine photo shoot (see the picture on top of this post!). Edit: Turns out they wore different outfits. The person who wrote the report wasn’t too sure about the dresses
Sakurada and the girls came on stage on time and started with 『Hyakka Ryouran』 which sounded even more dramatic with the new arrangement.
During the following MC the girls asked if the food tasted good and that they themselves haven’t eaten yet but they will surely try it afterwards. Keiko also said that it has been a long time since they last performed before so few people (there were around 300 people at the Billboard Live).
Hikaru introduced the next song as being very nostalgic but for this special occasion they wanted to sing it.
『sapphire』 has definitely the perfect arrangement for a live like this. Next up was 『red moon』. The girls were very nervous about this since the song had to be changed quite a lot to fit the atmosphere of a Billboard Live. The “dark fantasy” theme had to be arranged in a simple manner for the piano accompaniment and they had to put a lot more effort into their vocals. According to fans it was an awesome performance that was still incredibly epic even though it was such a simple arrangement.
Then Keiko went on to talk about how it is still very warm in Osaka even though it’s already September and summer is officially over. During this live they wanna create one last precious memory of summer. [This part is slightly different to what I wrote yesterday. Apparently only one fan got to choose the summer song they would be singing, I thought the entire audience got to pick it.] Anyways, this is how it happened => Keiko was like, “You see the number on your desk, right? Try to feel around below your desk right where that number is! Is there someone who has an envelope sticking to the table?” (That person raised their hand) Keiko: ”Please open it. It’s a love letter *laughs*” [LOL at Keiko kidding around.] Hikaru then explained that there were three summer themed songs written on the paper => Yane no Mukou ni, Natsu no Ringo, Natsu no Asa. The fan got to choose between those three and decided on 『Yane no Mukou ni』. [Good choice!! Although I would have had a hard time choosing between Yane no Mukou ni and Natsu no Ringo. I do like Natsu no Asa but it’s nowhere near as precious to me as the other two] During the second performance of the evening, the lucky fan chose 『Natsu no Ringo』.
Next up was 『Musunde Hiraku』 which was a very bright and “sparkling“ performance according to the live report. 『monochrome』 was apparently one of their BEST and sexiest performances of the evening. The arrangement was very jazz-y and there was a lot of HiKei skinship.
After the next MC it was time for Wakana’s solo. A chair and a table were put on stage for Wakana. Wakana said they thought a lot about what they could do for this special premium live. They decided to include some solo performances. She said it was their first time ever performing solo at a Kalafina live so she was super nervous. Wakana then went on to explain, “We debuted with our single 『oblivious』 which was made for the anime 「Kara no Kyoukai」. There were three songs on that single and then our next release was a single called 『re/oblivious』 which included remixed versions of the songs from our previous single, among them was a song called 『Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Iku~acoustic version』. It’s been 9 ½ years since that release, maybe there are even people here who don’t know of the existence of that song. I have decided to pick this song for my solo performance. Back then when the single was released I couldn’t have imagined such things at all *laughs* Being able to stand here in front of you at a Billboard Live, holding fan club events, that’s why I would like to sing this song right now together with Sakurada-san.”
Seems like Wakana’s performance was mind-blowing. There’s nothing but praise for her vocals and people were crying like little babies.
[*crazy sobbing* Why wasn’t I there for this???? T_T]
After another MC it was Hikaru’s turn for her solo performance. She says she had to pick 『ARIA』 because it was the first song she sang working together with Kajiura Yuki so it has a special place in her heart. That’s when Hikaru started being very open and honest about her voice. She is aware that her voice from back then is probably not coming back but for her it doesn’t matter because in these past nine years she has experienced so much happiness, her voice has gone through so many changes, it’s inevitable that her voice would be different. The 『ARIA』 which she is going to sing now is the one she can convey with her current abilities. Fans were very relieved that Hikaru seemed to be taking it all in stride, that she confidently announced she would be singing the song with her current singing voice. This was another tear-inducing and touching performance, fans were very impressed.
[Wish I had been there for this as well!! *sobs* To see Hikaru be this frank and honest makes me want to cuddle her. I am glad she is this confident and doesn’t let the awful criticism get to her.]
In the MC that followed Hikaru explained that for the first time it really felt like she was singing an “aria” (since the literal meaning of “aria” is “vocal solo”). Before, she was always singing it with the other two members on stage but today she was all by herself, she truly felt a sense of loneliness.
Keiko’s turn, “My first time working together with both Wakana and Hikaru was during 「Kara no Kyoukai」 but my first time working together with Kajiura Yuki-san was when I sang 『Kaze no Machi e』 as FictionJunctionKEIKO.” Seems like this performance sounded completely different from previous performances as well as the studio performance. Keiko’s singing was a lot more expressive and the song generally felt like it had a lot more depth to it. Keiko’s voice was quite intoxicating.
[I wanna kill myself for not seeing this performance! Ughhhh! I can totally imagine how it must have sounded. I can never get enough of Keiko’s more expressive singing like in their Winter Acoustic version of Alleluia or most recently in Tombo]
In the following MC Keiko explains, “I know of course that this isn’t a Kalafina song and even though this is a Kalafina Fan Club event I decided to sing 『Kaze no Machi e』. I even discussed this with Kajiura-san and she told me that no matter when or where I wanted to sing this, it would make her very happy. For me there’s a lot of sadness and sorrow associated with this song so I was worried whether or not I should sing it during the event but then Kajiura-san told me if singing makes me feel sadness then that’s not a bad thing, it’s an honest feeling and that’s what singing is about. When singing as a member of Kalafina, it is hard to just be »myself« since we all have our assigned parts but today I wanna become »myself« and I want to sing this song for all of »you«.”
After this they all returned to the stage and talked a little about their impressions regarding their solo lives. They found it really fascinating to watch each other from the back. They ended their show with an encore block. First they sang 『oblivious』 which had a very fresh arrangement with a cappella parts. Next up were 『interlude』 and 『sprinter』. I guess 『sprinter』 was probably a lot like their Arena Live performance. Fans were once again reduced to tears. There was another HiKei moment at the end of the song when they looked at each other and a lot of emotions got conveyed between them.
Last but not least, 『Alleluia』. For most fans it was the perfect song to end this premium live. To celebrate that final song, they decided to name their special cocktail “Alleluia“.
[Keiko mentioned that this was a limited drink for Osaka so I am wondering if the setlist will be different for their Tokyo premium live. I am expecting them to change the final song at least but who knows, maybe the drink itself will be different but it will still be named “Alleluia” so they wouldn’t have to change anything...]
Final note: Non-Japanese fans kept on moaning and complaining about the apparently “horrendous prices” for this event but are you kidding me???!!! Roughly $120/€100 is really NOT a lot for all of this (the intimacy, the exclusivity, the awesome setlist, the special solo performances, the honesty with which the girls shared their feelings and thoughts, a fancy dinner with a fancy cocktail, all of this packed into an almost two-hour long event!!!) They could have charged even more for a ticket and it would still have been a fair price.
