I knew there was gonna be someone jumping on that CR post and going on about how “I’ve done the math and have concluded that $100 isn’t even that bad for an annual service fee-“
#the fact is#even if it’s annual that is still a lot of money to waste on a streaming platform#you have to take into account that you are not going to even be using the service all that much anyway as well#like unless you’re one of those people who can find the time to binge anime multiple times a week for a whole year and don’t mind then#whatver (even though you could just as easily pirate the shit. anime is one of the most accessible media forms in the world)#I accidentally got $40 bucks taken out of my account for pixiv because I forgot to cancel my free trial on time#and I needed that $40 man#the thought of spending $100’s of bucks on something that you could easily find on Google for free within seconds is#ridiculous to me personally#rambling#you can’t ‘well actually’ this kind of shit#outside of purchasing physical DVDs and so on#I remember the time when piracy was pretty much one of the only ways to watch anime back in the day#it’s just…. we’ve gotten to a point where there are people who don’t think it’s that big of a deal and that is what’s so upsetting to me#you shouldn’t be okay with any of this#these companies are getting over on people who don’t know any better or care enough

hiya! can you do HCs for the slashers with a male s/o? i usually always see them geared towards women so itd be fun to switch it up! (it could be their first m/m relationship or not, doesnt matter!)
Of course hun! Usually I try to keep my writing pretty gender neutral and as inclusive as possible. Hope you enjoy! Also I’m trying to get better with adding warnings… it’s a work in progress
Slashers x Male S/O
Warning: slight nsfw content in all of these and it’s slashers so mentions of murder, kidnapping, etc
Michael Meyers
Michael isn’t good with feelings, usually his feelings towards others are anything but positive, he’s sure of that. But something about you was different, he wasn’t a fan of the feeling honestly. But Michael is a curious person, so he ends up stalking you for a decent amount of time. Eventually, he’s able to predict your every move, he knows your schedule, has figured out all your favorite things. He knows everything about you.
Michael eventually comes to terms with the fact he has a crush on you. After stalking you for some time, he was able to figure out the feeling. But at first he was honestly contemplating making you his next victim just so the feeling would go away. Now he recognizes it as a good feeling though, he needs to keep you and make you his.
His go to is knocking you out on your way home from work one evening. When you wake up you’re arms are tied to the bed, but he was kind enough to leave your feet unrestrained. At first, he just stares at you, unsure of what to do now that he has you. His favorite thing is watching you while you sleep, you just look so content and happy.
Eventually, Michael lets you wander around the house. He knows you can’t leave him, he’ll simply find you again. After all, he’s stalked you for so long he would be able to find you easily. Even if you do alert the cops it’s not like it’s his first time dealing with them. It’s best if you don’t run away, he isn’t against teaching you not to leave him again if you try.
If you make attempts to be kind to him he absolutely adores it! Massaging his shoulders, rubbing patterns across his skin, baking and cooking for him are all gestures that he loves. But, it also proves to him that you care which makes him more possessive over you.
Speaking of possessive, Michael also has the strong urge to always prove to you that he’s the dominant one. He both needs and craves control and feels the need to prove that he’s bigger and stronger than you are. Expect some rough treatment from time to time, he likes to remind you of your place.
He’s a virgin and the only knowledge he really has about sex comes from what he’s caught his victims doing. While he does do a lot of stalking, he really hasn’t learned much. Besides, most of what he’s seen has been between girls and guys, very rarely has it been anything else. But once you show him? He’s insatiable. While he’s never thought much about his sexual desires before, you’ve completely changed that. You can expect him to be pressing against your ass at any time of the day.
Loves joining you in the shower. One, it’s just an easy way for him to see you naked. Two, he usually gets you to wash his hair and all for him and he loves the feeling. You running your hands all over his body to bathe him leads to three, he usually forces you to your knees and gets you to wrap those pretty lips around him. Loves the sight of you looking up at him with water on you eyelashes and lust in your eyes. Some times you’re gonna need a second shower.
Bo Sinclair
Bo is the one most likely to deny to himself that he finds you attractive. He grew up in the Deep South with a religious family in a religious town. Anything that isn’t between a guy and a girl was always frowned upon so it takes him a minute to come to terms with his feelings.
Once he does expect him to be a big flirt. Turns out, Bo can smooth talk guys and girls all the same. It’s easy for him though considering that there’s so much about you he likes that he never seems to run out of compliments. Quickly decides that he loves the sight of you blushing and flustered by the things he says.
Once again, feels the need to prove that he’s the dominant one. Bo has never given up control to anyone, you’re not going to be any different. Often makes a show of his strength to prove he’s stronger than you. Bo also just loves to manhandle you in general, especially during sex. You just look so cute when you get all flustered about him moving you around like you weigh nothing.
Lots of ass grabbing and lewd comments once he gets comfortable with you. He’s a major pervert, so expect him to be handsy with you all of the time.
Eventually gets to the point where he likes to flaunt you. You spend a lot of time with him down at the station and he occasionally gives you small, easy chores to do, but mostly he keeps you there to chat with and keep him company. This also means that you see a lot more of the victims than you might like to and Bo isn’t afraid to let them know the two of you are together. If anyone says anything rude to you then he makes sure they get turned to wax a lot faster than he normally would. If he deems the comment to offensive then there wont be much left of them to make into wax, sorry Vincent.
Bo likes to make you believe that he would never let you top him. But if your able to hold out long enough, you can make him so needy for you that he’ll relent and allow it, but only just the once. Okay, maybe more than once but it’s still a rare occasion. He still won’t let anyone believe that he would ever bottom though. Like I said before, Bo needs to feel in control and that extends to being in control of you as well.
Vincent Sinclair
Vincent wasn’t as well versed in relationships as Bo or even Lester. While he would know that he’s attracted to guys, he wouldn’t have much experience at all. He would be very surprised if you showed any interest in him at all honestly, but when you do he knows he has to keep you.
He’s very shy and nervous at first. You’re most likely the first person he’s ever had a romantic relationship with so he’s very unsure of what to do at first. It’ll take a lot of reassurance from you to get him to open up to you and even longer for him to feel confident around you. Since he doesn’t talk and is pretty socially awkward, you can expect small gifts to be his go to way of wooing you. Like a penguin giving you pebbles, he is a large man bringing you wax figures.
Vincent would definitely play a big care taker role honestly. He’s both your protector and your provider. You depend upon him to survive in Ambrose and he enjoys feeling in control for once. Vincent does a good job of making sure you’re taken care of as well. Always makes sure that you eat until your full, gives you only the best of clothes from victims suitcases, and you get first pick of the items left behind by the victims.
Likes keeping you close by. Not down in his workshop of course, he doesn’t want you to see him as a monster and witness the cruel things he does. Besides, he sees you as to precious, to pure and innocent to be able to handle witnessing such things. Of course, you’re aware of the wax figures, but you’re not aware of how they’re made and he wants to keep it that way.
Vincent prefers to have you tied up beneath him with your cheeks flushed and skin covered in sweat. Also thinks your skin looks great when it’s covered in wax. Also loves the way you look so needy for him to give you some sort of relief with your pupils blown wide, lips parted, as your hips attempt buck against his.
However, Vincent does occasionally enjoy letting you take the ropes. This usually happens when he’s stressed out and has to much on his mind. Being able to let go and let you be in charge of his pleasure gives him the freedom and comfort that he needs.
Brahms Heelshire
His parents would be surprised at him requesting a male nanny but so many women had failed that he was curious to try something else. When you came along, he decided that you were perfect for him!
Unlike most of the other slashers, Brahms is more than okay with you topping him, He secretly enjoys being forced into submission and only occasionally likes to take up the dominant role in the bedroom. Goes absolutely feral for the way you discipline him and get him to submit and be good, especially since you never fail to tell him what a good boy he is and how much you enjoy him being well behaved just for you.
At the start though, he simply watches you through the walls. Especially enjoys watching you while you’re in your room or taking a shower. He’s a dirty little wall pervert what do you expect. Once he watches you jerk off for the first time, he quickly decides that he’s 100% attracted to you. Like I said, he’s a dirty wall man.
Enjoys that you still follow the schedule and do such a good job of filling the domestic roles he craves. You provide him with more structure and stability than anyone else previously had. You’re not scared to discipline him when he steps out of line and you do such a good job of taking care of him. Especially loves when you indulge him and spoil him, it drives him crazy.
He’s needy and clingy and loves to cuddle up to you. Brahms is practically glued to your hip 24/7, following you around the mansion like a lost puppy. He’s lucky you find him cute otherwise you would grow annoyed with him quite easily. He enjoys laying his head on your chest and listening to your heartbeat, it’s really soothing to him.
Please read to him while he cuddles up against you. It’s his favorite thing ever, especially if you give him attention while you do so like playing with his hair or simply running your free hand up and down his back soothingly.
Will purposefully find ways to get dirty so that you have to bathe him. Refuses to get into the tub or shower unless you join him. Really just wants to be pressed up against the shower wall and fucked. If he needs an excuse to see you naked, he’ll steal your clothes and hide them. Then he watches from the walls as you have to go up to your room to get more clothes. The clothes he stole will remain in his room within the walls to curl up with whenever he pleases.
Billy Loomis and Stu Macher
Honestly these two would compete over you. Might even have a bet over who can woo you first. They get jealous of the other very easily.
Billy is intimidating and plenty of people are scared of him, for good reason of course. So with him you don’t really have to worry about anyone being rude or saying anything offensive. If they do then you’ll see them on the news within the next few days. If you mention it to Billy he basically says “wow, that’s unfortunate, whatever will the world do without them.”
Stu is more likely to get physical with the person as soon as anything offensive leaves their mouth. Usually he’s less affected than Billy but he’s just so protective over you that he can’t manage to keep his cool. Sadly this means he can’t kill the person since he would be more likely to be a suspect after a physical altercation like that. They’ll still have a broken nose.
Billy is more likely to be a top, Stu is more likely to bottom but he is a switch so he likes to top occasionally to. Billy is also more rough with you in bed and enjoys running the blade of his knife across your skin while he has his other hand wrapped tightly around your throat. He degrades you while he fucks you, even the praise is degrading, telling you how good you look getting fucked like the slut you are. Stu is a lot sweeter and needier when it comes to sex. He likes to praise and compliment you, telling you how good you make him feel and how good you look just for him.
Both of them are very proud of you. They aren’t afraid to show you off or be seen with you. We all know that Stu is handsy but Billy isn’t afraid to sweet talk you in front of anyone and everyone. Claims he’s classier than Stu for not basically shoving his hand down your pants in public like he hasn’t grinded against you multiple times already. He’s just more discreet about being handsy in public.
Jesse Cromeans
You get to live lavishly with Jesse, that’s for sure. He makes sure to absolutely spoil you, anything you want is yours. The movies confirmed multiple times that he’s rich and it turns out when it comes to you, Jesse is very generous with his money.
Although, he does love choosing what you wear. Of course all of the clothes in your large closet are designer, he can’t have his boyfriend looking poor. Jesse prefers to dress you up in expensive dress shirts, slacks, and ties, something about it just gets him going. Some times he’ll allow you to wear sweatpants or whatever comfy clothes you want but it’s still going to be name brand stuff.
Also likes to shower with you. Picks out expensive and high end products so that you always smell good. Of course Jesse always smells good, his favorite colognes are never less than $100 for even a small bottle. Sometimes when he comes home late at night and crawls into bed next to you, you can still smell the slight metallic scent of blood on him. It’s usually hard to notice though since the sheets smell strongly of him that it can mask it.
He’s perverted and loves to show you off. Once you find out what he does, he won’t hesitate to take you with him on his “business trips” to different warehouses. Jesse keeps you safely tucked away in his office though, he can’t risk putting you in harms way and certainly doesn’t want you to witness the carnage. Prefers you to sit in his lap during meetings and he isn’t afraid to feel you up during them either.
If he ever gets you to blow him under his desk one day don’t expect him to let you stop just because Spann or Preston walks in. Jesse won’t hesitate to force your head back down if you try and pull away. In fact, having you choke on his cock while someone else in the room does nothing but make him feel even more aroused. Luckily for you, it’ll definitely deter Spann from trying to make any more moves on your boyfriend.
Asa Emory
Asa is a sadist and he absolutely loves to see you squirm. You can expect constant teasing and degrading from him at all times, very rarely does he compliment you. When he does compliment you though, just know he truly means them. Asa doesn’t really do feelings, his best way of showing he cares for you is by keeping you locked in his home rather than in his demented hotel.
Honestly, he probably does his best to keep you from knowing about the extent of his nightly activities. Of course you know about the hotel, you spent a few months there. You also know Asa is sadistic and enjoys hurting other people, even you that he cares so much about. But your stay at the hotel was luxurious compared to what happens to the other people in there. And while he inflicted some pain and left small cuts on you with his knife, it was nothing compared to the way he tortured the other people.
Again, Asa needs control and enjoys being in charge of everything you do. He picks out your clothes, plans out your day for you, he’s into the whole dumbification thing. You have a list of responsibilities like cooking for him and keeping the already neat house clean and tidy. Your not just his boyfriend, you’re his pet. Anything he instructs you to do, you do, otherwise you’ll be punished.
Makes sure you have your own guard dog. He hates having to leave you alone and so he leaves his best trained German Shepherd with you to keep you safe. But on the bright side at least you have well trained company that also happens to be very cuddly and friendly with you. Just don’t let Asa know you let the dog on the couch…

Hello! *Waves* How are you!?.Can i request headcannons of MTC meeting their crush at a mixed Onsen/ the other one that begins with S (can't remember the spelling!). Please and thank you! ❤❤❤ The format is up to you! XD
━━ ∘◦ ☆ ◦∘ ━━
Pairing: Samatoki Aohitsugi x fem!Reader; Juto Iruma x fem!Reader; Riou Busujima x fem!Reader
Genre: Fluff; Suggestive (PG-13)
Warnings: None
A/N: I actually had no idea that mixed onsens were a thing so I ended up doing some research and went down a long rabbit hole of the history and significance of onsens so...that was fun! Hope you enjoy~
⋘ ──── ∗ ⋅◈⋅ ∗ ──── ⋙
Samatoki Aohitsugi
from what we know, Samatoki doesn’t have any tattoos, but since he is a yakuza member, it’s highly probable that he could have a chest or back tattoo
if so, he’s not going to be able to go to many public onsens, and instead would only go to yakuza-only onsens
in my research, most, if not all, of these were male-only onsens so we’re just going to pretend that Samatoki has no tattoos for these headcanons
I headcaon that Samatoki often goes to onsens when he’s trying to blow off steam or when he’s having trouble solving a problem of his
remember when he went to one and ran into Ichiro??
when he first sees you in the onsen, his heart almost stops beating because he never expects to see people he knows here, let alone the woman who’s currently stealing his heart
he tries to play it cool and when you see him and walk over to say hello he’s going to be very casual
he’s a little pink at the thought of both of you being naked together in such close proximity, but he doesn’t make a big deal about it because he drinks his ‘Respect Women Juice’
he might sneak a peak when you’re getting in or out of the water though but he’s immediately looking away and pretending he didn’t see
he’s glaring at anyone that even looks remotely unsavory though, and he’s not afraid to beat someone up buck naked if they’re being a creep
I can imagine Samatoki loving the warm water and onsens are one of the few times he actually fully gets to relax because he doesn’t have his phone and there are no subordinates to give him more work to do
he won’t ask you to, but he’ll secretly hope you sit close to him so that he can talk more to you, and when you do he easily contains his excitement
he won’t want to run around trying all the different pools, instead finding one that he really likes and staying there in between rinse offs and scrubs
if you say you want to try one though, he’s already on his feet and following you because he doesn’t want to leave you alone
he’ll say it’s because he needs to look out for you but in actuality he just wants to spend more time with you
Juto Iruma
Juto rarely has time off for work, so when he finally catches a break and you mention that you want to go to a mixed onsen, he’s down for it
he’s probably been to onsen’s before, but it’s not his favorite thing in the world
I can imagine him enjoying the heated water for a little while, but not enjoying getting excessively sweaty
I feel like it would get suffocating to him and he would need to take a break either to rinse off or cool down
Juto’s been to mixed onsens before and he knows the cultural norms but when he runs into you, his long time crush, he’s rather surprised
I can imagine him coming up to you and greeting you formally and rather respectfully asking if you want to go to one of the pools with him
he knows that people come to onsens for different reasons and he wouldn’t want it to seem like he was coming onto you in any way so he’ll pull back a little on his suave-ness just for now
however, when you smile and laugh, saying that you’re surprised he didn’t say some cheesy pick up line, he’ll give you a little smirk and an off handed compliment because that’s just who he is
which would make you blush like crazy but hey, you’re not complaining
once you agree to sit with him, he’ll let you pick the pool you want to go to first, but he’s not going to be running around like crazy trying to test them all out
he’ll definitely tease you by pulling on the towel on your head just to get you to lean into him a bit more
but it’s a public space so he’s not really going to do anything too raunchy
it’s also one of the only times he ever gets to do anything relaxing so he’s going to take full advantage of that
it ends up being the two of you having extremely slow conversations where one person will say something and 30 seconds later the other person will respond
you’ll blame it on the heat but really it’s just the fact that the two of you are getting more comfortable together and both find it quite nice to relax in the presence of the other
Riou Busujima
Riou had never been before and wanted to know what they were like
definitely the type to read up about the specific onsen ahead of time and learn all of the rules and what to do vs what not to do
when he runs into you there, he’s very cordial and respectful, asking how you are and what you’re doing at the onsen
he’s a little nervous, but it’s more excitement and happiness at the fact that he gets to talk with you again
when you say you just came by yourself to relax he’ll nod and say that he did the same
you’re going to have to be the one to ask if he wants to sit with you though, because he’ll think it’s rude if he asks
I can see him being the type to prefer outdoor onsens, and if you tell him about the ones in the snow covered mountains he’s immediately suggesting that the two of you should leave to go there
the thought that you’re nude is definitely going to come up for him, but he would never say anything about it
he might look respectfully though
I can definitely imagine him not being outwardly vocal about your nudity, but sneakily keeping an eye on everyone in the same pool as the two of you just to make sure that nobody’s making you feel uncomfortable
Riou’s the type to constantly asking you if you still have your key or if it fell off somewhere in the water
he wants to try all of the different pools, especially if they’re at different temperatures, and he wants you to come with him
I can imagine Riou really loving the onsen and just sitting beside you with the towel on his head, breathing out a large sigh and nodding
don’t let him fall asleep because he will fall asleep
he’s also 100% the type to keep an eye on your towel as well so if you have hair, he’s gonna make sure that your towel is never coming undone
if not, he’s still going to make sure it’s not slipping off and falling into the water
overall, Riou is going to treat the whole experience as an adventure and will want to try out everything that the onsen has to offer
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

April 20 -21
We broke camp about 10 o’clock on the 20th and headed toward Phoenix on US 77 which would take us to Apache junction. From there we were going to drive on historic route 88 through Tortilla Flat and Superstition Mountain. However, a forest fire had closed Arizona 88 so we had to backtrack and find a way to get to the town of Payson on Arizona 87. It was a long and boring drive but the scenery was beautiful. We decided to spend the night in Payson and found a neat campground just outside of town. In the morning we got up and headed out toward Sedona on another historic route 89A. It was another beautiful, “boring” ride until we got to Sedona and we hit “tourist city”. It took 30 minutes to get through the “small” town of Sedona to get to the scenic historic route 89 A which is included in the National Geographic great scenic highways and byways. It was well worth the trip. Along the way we went by the red mountain secret wilderness area. You can see below they beautiful pictures we took driving there. On the way we went to see Montezuma’s Cliff dwellings National monument. It was a very interesting site which had Cliff dwellings housed around 40 different families who lived there for several 100 years before they abruptly left in the 1300’s to go work where there was a better place to live. Just up the road from there is Montezuma’s well. Is a natural spring fed “lake” that holds 15,000,000 gallons of water and is replenished everyday by 1.5 million gallons. It’s called something like a cracked Cup so the water leaks out in one location and forms a creek/small river that flows to the town. It’s considered a sacred place by the Native Americans; however, no fish can live in the well because it highly carbonated and contains arsenic. They do have great leeches, a water scorpion, snails and a amphipod. We called a couple campgrounds in Flagstaff that wanted $85 for a complete hookup or $65 for water and electric. I looked up on a military campground 12 miles out of the way that was built during World War 2 called Camp Navajo, which is an Arizona National Guard base. We could stay there for 20 bucks a night. Not a big decision to be made. Were at 7000 plus feet elevation but it wasn’t supposed to hit down near freezing that. We don’t care because we’re hunkered down and can survive that easily.
April 22
It was a much colder than we really thought it was going to be and our water line froze during the night. It was OK and didn’t rupture. Luckily, we had some onboard water supply and everything was OK. We headed out the next day on historic route that took us to the Navajo Code Talkers Museum. It was an interesting short visit. We moved on to US 163 which was featured in the movie with Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. We’re not sure which part of the movie 163 was used but we drove the whole route through monument Valley. Everything is closed on Navajo land except some of this small roadside jewelry stores. We did stop at a place that was billed as a Dinosaur footprints site. It turns out it’s operated by a group of Navajo Indians much like the parking lots in Naples, Italy where the mafia grants permission to charge people to park while they watch your car. We got John to take us on a tour of the Dinosaur footprint area for a nominal fee that we would choose at the end of the tour. John was very knowledgeable about the footprints. He also showed us a small fossil you could tap on it hear the hollow bone under the rock. Turns out his dad was a medic during Vietnam who died of agent Orange exposure in 2018. We gave John a good tip and moved on. We covered some ground we had traveled in 2014 before we got on Arizona 95. It’s a 93 mile stretch of highway with no services. Half way to the end, we decided to do some boondock camping with no hookups. We found a very nice spot that was occupied by 3 other RVs but we had social distancing in a private area. It was a very beautiful place along a area called White Canyon. The stone in the white Canyon was pretty white but the surrounding mountains were all red. Everything went well until 2:30 in the morning when our coach batteries got too low to power the refrigerator which started beeping. I got up and turn the refrigerator off so we can get some sleep and it got pretty cold again. We were able to use our gas furnace to warm the place up before breakfast and I started the engine to put some juice in the coach batteries.

10 best places to shop in New York, ranked by local shopping expert
New Post has been published on https://www.travelonlinetips.com/10-best-places-to-shop-in-new-york-ranked-by-local-shopping-expert/
10 best places to shop in New York, ranked by local shopping expert
“I like my money where I can see it – hanging in my closet,” quipped Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. As the fashion capital of the U.S., New York City is in a league of its own, making it easy to make sure your wallet leaves a little lighter than when you came.
The question then isn’t what you’ll buy, but rather where. For those who love window shopping and spending major bucks, Fifth Avenue is a great place to start. You’ll find top name designers and high-brow window displays begging to be gawked at.
If you head south to Nolita (north of Little Italy) and roll your shopping experience into Soho, there’s no shortage of one-of-a-kind shops and cute boutiques to keep you busy for days. Or, if you’re looking to get a little quirkier, head across the Williamsburg Bridge to this hipster haven where you can pop into cheese shops, vintage stores and pick up a cup of joe at one of the many neighborhood cafes.
Below, we take a glimpse at ten of the top shopping districts in New York City.
Although Brooklyn and Manhattan were once pegged against each other, Brooklyn has slowly edged the island out and fully grabbed hold of the “cool” title. Extremely hip and fashionable, the streets of Williamsburg have an impressive array of street murals and art. Hipsters congregate here, whether they are composing a song in a trendy cafe or scouring flea markets and food bazaars. For vintage clothing or local independent stores, even Manhattanites have to admit that it is worth making it over to Brooklyn. Ignore the chains and try something different, like Desert Island, a must for any comic book nerd.
Recommended for Best Shopping because: It’s the new East Village and the streets are dotted with fun shops, cute cafes and low-key dive bars.
Courtney’s expert tip: On summer Saturdays, Smorgasburg takes over a parking lot near the water. It’s the perfect place to try some new noms.

With a name like the Meatpacking District, it is somewhat surprising that this New York neighborhood is now a glamorous location. Once the headquarters of the meat industry, this area has been transformed completely (but former meat lockers and meat packers still remain). At the corner of Ninth Avenue and 14th Street, you’ll see the high tech Apple Store, mobbed day and night. The cobblestone streets are home to all the latest designer boutiques, Jeffrey, Stella McCartney, Catherine Malandrino. In addition, you will also find the hippest hotels and fantastic restaurants. Whether you are a fashionista or a foodie, the Meatpacking District has you covered.
Recommended for Best Shopping because: It’s a place to see and be seen. Models mob the streets and cool crowds are everywhere.
Courtney’s expert tip: To take in views of the city, grab a drink at Le Bain located at the top of the Standard Hotel.

NoLita, (North of Little Italy), was once the tenement filled home base to thousands of immigrants who came to New York for a better life. Now, chic and super cool, the streets are filled with one-of-a-kind boutiques, shoe stores, jewelry vendors and quirky style setters of downtown. Artist driven boutiques are a joy for browsing or purchasing unique pieces that will add flair to any wardrobe. From socially responsible children’s clothing to thrift store jewels, NoLita is the rare combination of fashionable and friendly. Money story: “I’m 21 and pursuing the path to financial independence.”
This guest post from Cody is part of the “money stories” feature at Get Rich Slowly. Some stories contain general advice; others are examples of how a GRS reader achieved financial success — or failure. These stories feature folks from all stages of financial maturity.
In January, I attended Camp FI in Florida. While most of the attendees were thirty- or forty-somethings pursuing early retirement, one young man stood out. We were all amazed at the presence of Cody Berman, a 21-year-old hustler who defies the Millennial stereotype. Cody works hard, saves tons, and has a vision for his future. I asked if he’d be willing to share his story with GRS readers. Here it is.
From a young age, my parents instilled the value of saving into me. Throughout my early childhood, my father would match my contributions to my savings account dollar for dollar. This made me excited to save birthday money and miscellaneous earnings because the money would double. (Thanks, Dad!)
When I turned eleven, I started my first job working in the snack shack at my uncle’s local disc golf course; I earned five bucks an hour. Throughout middle school and high school, I worked various jobs and saved nearly every penny. At age sixteen, I bought my first car with the money I had accumulated over the years. I still drive that car to this day.
During high school, I took several AP courses and received college credit for them. If I had only known then what I know now, I would have taken nearly every AP course and CLEP exam available. When it came time to select a college, I was torn between Bentley University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I calculated that Bentley would have put me in approximately $80,000 of debt after four years but that I could attend UMass Amherst virtually for free. My frugality won. I chose the latter.
Making the Most out of College
Upon my arrival at UMass Amherst, I joined as many clubs and organizations as possible. Simultaneously, I obtained a job as a teacher’s assistant to financially support myself. After several weeks of attending dozens of meetings for multiple groups, I decided that the Investment Club, Fixed Income Fund, and Finance Society were particularly interesting to me. [J.D.’s notes: Where were clubs like these when I was in college?]
I soon realized that in order to get a leg up on my peers, I needed an internship. I applied to nearly thirty positions and heard back from only one. That summer, I worked in a low-tier operations role at a small branch of a major bank.
I came back sophomore year with increased confidence and a motivation to achieve the best internship possible. This time, I applied to nearly 35 positions and received responses from about 20% of them. Initially, none of my top prospects were interested in me.
Then, one day in early April, I received an email from a private equity company who asked me to come in for an interview. Three interviews later and the position was mine. That summer, I commuted two hours each way to my internship and worked long days. I thought I was on my way to become a rich, successful investment banker. What could be better, right?
Finding Financial Independence
During my junior year, I networked relentlessly and received offers from various top-tier investment firms. I knew that whichever firm I chose to work for following my junior year would probably be the firm I received a full-time offer from. I aimed for high-caliber, high-paying jobs in New York City.
It was during this year that I discovered the financial independence movement and realized something important: Time is more valuable than money.
Because of this newly-acquired perspective, I declined all of my high-powered NYC offers and chose to work for a financial firm that valued hard work, respected work-life balance, and compensated for overtime (extremely rare in the finance space). My friends and mentors all thought I was crazy for turning down the ultra-high-paying, high-stress offers, but I knew that I was making the right decision.
Once I discovered the financial independence movement, I was immediately attracted to the idea of a side hustle. I wanted to unlock an alternative income stream to allow me to reach my financial freedom quicker. I took steps to start a t-shirt company and tutoring business, but both failed due to lack of interest and commitment.
Eventually, I collaborated with James, a mechanical engineer friend of mine, and we created the ultimate side hustle: Arsenal Discs. Our company manufactures premium golf discs and equipment for the disc golf sport.
My passion for disc golf, coupled with my business mindset, made me a great fit to run the finance and marketing arms of the business. My business partner James, who loves to design and create, complemented my weaknesses perfectly by taking over the technical, engineering side of the business.
An Alternate Path
I see too many adults miserable in their jobs, complaining about money, and never having the time to do things. I’ve decided that this was not the life I wanted. I want freedom.
This yearning for freedom initially stemmed from my resentment of authority and being forced to perform tasks that I found neither useful or beneficial. Financial freedom grants you autonomy to work on projects that you’re truly passionate about. Once the need for a financial reward is eliminated, then altruism, passion, and authenticity foster motivation, not money.
My goal is to have a deep impact on society and, ultimately, the world. Whether this be through financial consulting, global volunteerism, or content creation, I strive to change others’ lives for the better. I feel that the typical nine-to-five job won’t grant me this satisfaction, and even if it could, I’d like to discover that career from a position of financial independence, not financial need.
I’d also like to help other young adults discover the road of financial freedom.
In my three years since discovering and advocating for the financial independence movement, I’ve had only one friend reach out to me for guidance. Most people in my peer group can’t be bothered with planning for their financial futures. They’re just finishing college. They may have just accepted their first job offer. The last thing they have on their minds is their financial situation ten years from now.
My advice to any college-aged reader out there is simple: Continue living on your college budget, even after you begin your career. As Jim Collins says, you can eventually reach financial independence by following one simple rule: “Save more than you spend and invest the rest”.
A single, twenty-something with no kids can easily live on $20,000 or less per year by making educated financial decisions. With the average graduate salary just topping $50,000 in 2017, a young adult can start with a nearly 60% saving rate! Using Mr. Money Mustache’s shockingly simply math behind early retirement, and assuming income grows at the same rate as expenses, that person could reach financial independence in eleven years. That’s incredible!
Plans for the Future
Luckily, I’m not alone in the path to financial independence.
My girlfriend Lauren, who is frugal by nature, is 100% on-board with my plans. It’s hard to argue against the idea of financial freedom in five years or less! Plus, I have my mom Ruth to thank. She’s turned me on to new blogs, podcasts, and other sources of information to add to my ever-growing repository of skills and lifehacks. She’s been extremely supportive in all of my efforts, whether it’s my studies, new ventures, or financial planning.
I’m a firm believer in creating multiple income streams to diversify risk. At this point, I have my high-paying W2 banking job, my side hustle, and miscellaneous side jobs and weekend jobs earning me income. I plan to further accelerate my wealth accumulation through real estate (e.g. house hacking, live-in flip, etc.). Developing these passive and semi-passive income streams will allow my saving rate to soar.
My hope is to work for less than three years in a traditional nine-to-five job. Instead, I’d rely on my (hopefully) successful side hustles and real estate ventures. Once I reach this point, I can put all of my time into passion projects, volunteerism, and traveling. I’m sure to make some mistakes along the way, but the goal of becoming financially independent at age 25 sounds too good to not pursue.
Nothing that I’m doing involves prodigious intelligence or tremendous abilities. I’m not a genius. I’m just a guy who wants to truly enjoy life and extract as much value out of it as possible. All it takes is a game plan, hustle, and ambition. The rest will follow. It’s never too late to take back control of your life.
Reminder: Please be nice. After twenty years of blogging, I have a thick skin, but it can be scary to put your story out in public for the first time. Remember that this guest author isn’t a professional writer, and is just learning about money like you are.

Case Study: $1,000 per Week in Offline ‘Ready-made’ Websites
New Post has been published on http://www.elimarketing.org/case-study-1000-per-week-in-offline-ready-made-websites/
Case Study: $1,000 per Week in Offline ‘Ready-made’ Websites
One of the problems of working with brick and mortar type businesses is continually having to work on things like SEO. Sure, you charge a monthly fee for the services, but that makes it harder to sell, too.
But what if there was a quick and easy way to make offline cash, AND generate a monthly recurring income, too?
One gal I know is doing just that. She makes excellent money upfront – generally $1,200 or more before expenses, and she gets a monthly recurring fee, too, paid to her automatically.
Here’s what she does:
She chose a niche – in her case, local contractors who work directly with homeowners – and focuses exclusively on that niche. However, she does this all over the country, not just in her home city. This way she never runs out of prospects.
When it comes to local contractors, she works with plumbers, electricians, handymen services, carpenters, yard care services, roofers and painters.
She’s looking only for contractors that homeowners hire one-on-one. This is important, because contractors that work mainly as subcontractors and get all their work through other contractors aren’t a good fit for her business model.
She picks a city and starts searching for each of the different types of contractors, looking for the ones that have a lousy looking website or even no website at all.
When she finds these contractors, she contacts them and offers them a ready-made website. Now here’s where it gets really interesting – when I say ready-made, I mean the site is already made. She’s already had it built, complete with the contractor’s info, photos, contact numbers and everything.
The contractor, who generally knows nothing about websites, is typically blown away. Here’s a gorgeous website complete with all his info, ready to go. All he has to do is pay for the site and it’s live within 24 hours, ready to send him new customers.
Now here’s the trick: The sites are all built using the same WordPress theme. And even more importantly, every site can easily be switched from one business to another.
So for example, if Bob the plumber doesn’t buy the site, it’s no problem. Simply swap out the photos, name and contact information to another plumber and offer it to him. It takes less than 30 minutes, and probably half that amount of time after you’ve done a few of them.
Let’s talk numbers:
How many contractors buy the website? Usually about 4 to 5 out of 10. This means you might have to contact 2.5 contractors to make one sale. Still, those are excellent numbers.
What should you charge for the website? Totally up to you, of course. It’s going to partially depend on the niche you choose, but $1,000 to $1,500 is reasonable. But even if you only charge half of that, you’ll do fine.
Outsourcing?
Yes, you can outsource the website building and the website ‘switching’ if a site doesn’t sell. Find someone who can turn these around quickly and pay a little extra – it’s worth it.
If you sell one of these a week, you can profit about $1,000, depending on what you charge and your outsourcing costs.
But of course, who says you should only sell one? Sell 20 if you like.
Residual income?
Yes, you can charge a monthly fee for hosting, and also for the URL if you own it. Keep the fee reasonable – $25 to $50 a month, for example. Sell 100 sites and you’ve got a $2,500 to $5,000 a month residual income.
Remember, what you charge is between you and the customer, and it’s negotiable, too.
How to sell a site:
If you’re comfortable calling on the phone, then simply call them up and let them know you’ve built a website for them. That will get their attention.
If possible, have them go to the URL while you are on the phone with them, and verbally guide them through all the features of the website, explaining how it will grow their reputation and business.
If you’re not comfortable on the phone, then you can use email. This isn’t quite as effective, but it can still work. Email them and let them know you built them a website, giving them the URL.
Be sure to put your phone number in there, so they can call you and you can get it transferred over to their domain. When they call, walk them through the website, explain the features and benefits and close the deal.
Third option: If you are one of those folks who HATES selling ANYTHING on the phone – and you know who you are – then you can visit them in person and show them the website on your laptop.
Fourth option: If you are one of those folks who just plain hates SELLING, then hire someone to do the selling for you. It should be someone already in sales who is looking to make a few extra bucks.
Obviously this won’t be a full time gig – not even close – but for every sale they make you’ll pay them $X amount of money.
If you go with this fourth option, I suggest the following: Build several sites at once for several different businesses. This way you can send your sales person several jobs to sell at once, making it much more lucrative for him or her.
And of course you will still repurpose the ones that don’t get sold, tailoring them for other businesses so nothing ever goes to waste.
Things to Know:
Adding 3 to 5 short articles makes the site even more powerful. For example, for plumbing you might have articles on ‘how to choose a good plumber,’ ‘how to know when you need a plumber and when you can fix something yourself,’ ‘how to do an easy plumbing job yourself’ and so forth.
The articles should be 90% helpful and at most 10% salesy. The point is to make the contractor look like the helpful, honest person he or she hopefully is.
Take photos from their current website and use those on the new website. Yes, it’s that easy. You can also throw in come stock photos, as well.
And of course if they don’t already have a website or a Facebook page, then you’ll need to use all stock photos.
Once you sell them a ready-made website, it’s easy to also sell them things like SEO if you want to.
Niches to consider:
Contractors, obviously. But restaurants are good, too. Any service industry is good – for example, massage therapists.
Some people will want to target chiropractors, lawyers, doctors, etc., but keep in mind that professionals who make a lot of money often already have great looking websites.
Your ideal market is one where the business reaches out to customers, not to other businesses. And where they often have lousy, out of date websites.
Now just imagine this:
You have your website builder make a dozen or more sites each week.
You or your sales person makes the calls to sell those sites, and 6 of them get sold at $1,200 each.
You pay your website builder $100 to $200 per site, and if you’re employing a salesperson, you pay them the same.
At the end of the week you have grossed a cool $7,200 minus fees paid to your website builder (and your sales person, if you use one.) Plus you have six or more sites already built that simply need to be switched over to new businesses.
Of course, you can always build and sell the sites yourself, in which case the entire $7,200 is yours.
The following week, you get 12 more sites ready, plus you have the six repurposed sites. Half of them sell – making 9 sales – which is $10,800 gross. Plus you have 9 more sites that simply need to be repurposed, and so forth.
And you’re also charging small monthly ongoing fees for hosting, too, which adds up over time.
Do you see the potential?
Of course your results will vary. You might only charge $1,000, or you might charge $1,500. You might sell 50% of your sites, or you might sell fewer than that.
Regardless of the details, this is a powerful formula for making excellent money in the offline world without having to sweat things like local SEO.
And of course once you build a relationship with your new customers, you can always sell the other services as well.
NOTE: Some of you might be wondering how difficult it is to sell a ready made website for a business at $1,000 to 1,500, so I’d thought I’d share what happened to me yesterday…
I was talking to this guy who is a professional manager. He wants to start a personal political blog (nothing to do with his regular job) and wanted to know who he could hire to build this blog for him.
I asked what his budget was, and I kid you not… he said he “knew” he would have to spend at least $1,000 to get someone to set up a blog for him. And he didn’t want to go higher than $1,500.
For a WordPress blog!
I told him I thought I knew someone… 😉
A suggestion:
Focus your energies on building this business, rather than working IN this business. Unless you are already super fast at building great looking websites, hire someone who is fast and very, very good.
You can use the same one or two WordPress themes over and over again to streamline the operation.
And pick one main niche to focus on. Don’t start out trying to build sites for chiropractors AND plumbers AND massage therapists… just pick one and get really good at it.
Then and only then do you branch out to other professions.
Take careful notes of what works and what doesn’t. Go back to your customers and ask what specifically made them buy the website. Also ask what made them hesitate, too. You want to find out their objections so you can overcome them before your next sales presentations.
Don’t sweat it when someone says no. You are going to get plenty of no’s, but as you do this you’re also going to get more and more yes’s. It’s just part of the sales game.
Don’t focus solely on your local area. You can build sites for any professional anywhere in your country. Don’t go outside of your own country, at least at first, because people tend to have a greater mistrust for anyone outside of their country.
Build a website for your business. Your website should explain who you are and have plenty of photos of you and your team.
Write short articles for your site that explains the importance of having a great looking, professional website if you’re a plumber, or massage therapist, or whatever profession you’re targeting.
Tips to building a great professional looking website:
Have a consistent brand identity. Use their logo throughout, as well using the same colors, fonts and so forth. Let them know you can change the colors, too, if they like.
Capture inbound leads. Many small business people still don’t know the importance of capturing leads, so place an optin form on every page. Then explain to the prospect why the form is there and how it will increase their business. If they choose to keep it, you can even maintain their list for them, for an additional fee.
Be mobile-friendly. This just about goes without saying, but we thought we better add it to the list. Your websites MUST look as good on mobile as they do on other devices.
Tell their story and make them the hero. Perhaps nothing will sell your sites faster than telling their story. Now of course, you might not KNOW their story, but you can certainly take a guess. “I became a massage therapist because I love making people feel great. And when they feel great, they can accomplish so much more. Their interactions with their family and friends are better and more loving, their…” You get the idea. Make your professional or small business person sound like a hero and you will sell the site.
Use as many photos of their actual business as you can. If they already have a website, pull photos from that, as well as their Facebook page and anything else you can find online.
Oddly enough, your first goal is to impress the person you’re selling the site to (your customer) and not their end user. If you keep this in mind, you’ll do fine. For example, use any motto, slogan or headline they already have, such as “McGuiver and Sons Plumbing, Serving Cincinnati Since 1984.” They’re proud of this and they want to see it plastered big and bold on their site.
If you find testimonials online for their business, copy and paste them onto the website. You might find these on any of the review type of websites, such as Google, Yelp, Yahoo and so forth. Obviously you will only use the positive reviews and not the negative ones.
If they have social media accounts, go ahead and link to those on the website.
Place a strong call to action on each page, such as “Call 800-555-1234 to schedule your consultation today.” When you talk to the future site owner on the phone, you can point out how this can increase their inbound calls.
Finally, keep it fairly simple and do it the same way each time. If you’re continuously having to invent a new website every time, it’s going to take too long.
Instead, spend time coming up with the perfect site, and then simply swap out the information each time for each site. Switch the info, the colors, the testimonials, the photos, etc., so that each site looks unique, yet it’s really the same ‘formula’ used over and over again.
This will keep it simple and fast for you or your website builder, and you won’t forget elements from one website to the next.
Now Let’s Make this Business Model Even MORE Lucrative:
I always like to have an upsell. Sometimes an upsell to my upsell, even.
But in this case, what I’m about to suggest can be used as an upsell OR even as a downsell.
For example, you contact a business owner and show them the groovy website you made for them. They decide not to buy. But hey, you’ve established some rapport with them, so…
You offer them something just as valuable, only cheaper. They maybe feel bad that they didn’t buy the website that you spent hours and hours building for them (hey, they don’t need to know it took your outsourcer 30 minutes to do it.)
Plus, you’re offering such a terrific value, it would be stupid for them to say no.
Or… they DO buy the website you built for them. They have visions of how their business is going to take off now because of the website. They’ve agreed to a low monthly hosting fee. They’re definitely in a buying state of mind, so why not offer them an amazing deal that doesn’t cost much, right?
Of course!
So what is this upsell / downsell I’m talking about?
Okay, first let’s assume that you are targeting only contractors, or only restaurants, or only massage therapists… in other words, you are focusing on ONE niche.
And let’s further say that you’ve done your research on this niche.
You’ve Googled their profession, learned all about them, and maybe even Googled “Contractor marketing advice” or “Restaurant marketing advice,” etc.
You’ve also developed (okay, this does involve some work) an online marketing membership site just for their niche.
For example, “Marketing for restaurant owners,” or “Marketing for massage therapists.”
Mind you, 95% of your marketing advice is going to be the exact same advice you would give to any business or professional. You’ll just be inserting their language and terminology, as well as tailoring it a bit to their niche.
You teach social media, list building, SEO, lead generation, etc. Most of your content can come from quality PLR sources; just remember to customize it.
Add a private Facebook page or forum where they can ask questions and network.
You sell this monthly membership for whatever you want. I recommend $47 – $97 a month, because it’s a good price point for a business. It’s not so much that they worry about it, but it’s big enough that you are making a good profit, even in the beginning when you only have your first handful of members.
You might even make them a deal where if they remain an active member for a certain length of time (a year?) then from that point on their membership is FREE.
What a deal!
You are teaching them everything they need to know about marketing their business at a price that is truly affordable. How can they say no?
Remember, you offer this to EVERY business person you contact, regardless of whether or not they buy the site you built for them.
So even if they don’t buy the site, if they take the membership offer at $97 for 12 months (and then it’s free) you’ve still made $1,164, which is probably close to what you’re charging for the sites.
Wow!
But wait, there’s more…
What if you approach offline marketers who deal with people in your niche, and let them act as affiliates for your membership site?
They make sales and you split the monthly residual 50/50 with them.
This move alone can put another 5 figures into your pocket each year.
And by the way, you can outsource the entire thing.
Don’t you just love marketing?
I know I do!!!
