Cabin Tales 2.10
The Ship (Epilogue 2)
Avast traveler, ye has listened to tales about weakness, temptation, and morality.
Tales ye heard before; friendship, childhood, and guilty parties.
Even tales about destruction, adaptability, and instinctual bonds.
So here’s one more for ye, a tale for victory, for triumph…
A tale about CONQUEST!

spooky indie visual novels you've never heard of for spooky season
since it's October I thought I'd put together a list of spooky indie visual novels (horror, Halloween, creepy, dark comedy, anything in the spirit of the season goes) that you've probably never heard of but can play right now on itchio!
model employee
Model Employee is a corporate horror visual novel. Just discharged from the hospital and massively in debt for their life-saving cybernetics, the player-character must adapt to the “extreme” work-life balance of a Tethys Team Member- but they have help. Penny, the artificial personality that controls all security, waste disposal, and employee surveillance in the facility, specializes in reinforcing an especially cutthroat variety of workplace culture- and she’s taken an interest in you. If you want to get ahead in your career, you gotta be willing to take some risks.
model employee is such a tightly structured visual novel for being made in just one month for a game jam, making full use of everything while surprising you at every corner. every part of this game was so well planned and thought out- dystopian corporate satire isn’t my cup of tea (we’re living it) but the way they present everything in this game makes it feel so much more intense.
beary the hatchet
It’s Halloween 199X, and you killed someone during your morning shift. Honestly it’s inconvenient. This job was imperfect, sure, but you got to wear a mask with no questions asked and the pay was livable. But now you’ll have to keep the body in the backrooms till your shift is done. Bummer. “You’re… the absolutely WICKED and AWESOME Bearwater Grizzly Killer, aren’t you?!” …and now enters the dreaded true crime fan.
beary the hatchet is such a uniquely lovely game to look at, even if the subject matter is grim. I love the color palette and tones in this, I love the 2.5D graphics, I love how expressive all of the designs are. it’s a game oozing with style.
WE KNOW THE DEVIL
Anyone can kill the devil; that’s why they always make teens the vampire slayers, the magical girls. But some kids can’t even get that right; and that’s why meangirl Neptune, tomboy Jupiter, and shy shy Venus have to endure one more week of summer camp and each other, singing boring songs about jesus, doing busywork for adults, and hoping god’s radio can’t hear them. Before they can leave the summer scouts, they’ve got to spend twelve hours in the loneliest cabin in the woods and wait for the devil to come and live through the night–or not. You know.
it’s a visceral experience, something that feels foreign and familiar at the same time. I love the direction for it, the sketchy monochrome sprites against the colored photos- parts when there aren’t any characters on screen feel that much more real, like you’re watching found footage because of how tense everything is.
disconnect
Late at night, a phone call from a friend keeps disconnecting from you… On and off, on and off, constantly… …What would you do if you realized your friend wasn’t who you thought they were? And how would you react when the truth was finally revealed? (“̷̢̑W̸̨̊o̸̫͊u̷̱͝ḽ̸͛d̴͉̐ ̵̚ͅy̵̜̽o̸̥͗u̷̮̎ ̷̜̏s̶̤̄t̸̥͐i̴̻̕l̸̰͝l̸͉̓ ̷͕́ȁ̸̩c̸̡̓t̵̜̊ ̵͓̈t̶̙̄h̶̦͂e̸̩͠ ̸̩̅s̶̘̏a̷̪͛m̵̮͒e̴͖͑ ̸̭́w̷̨̚á̴̱y̵̯̑?̶͎̌"̷͈̆) Find out what happened to our scaredy-cat protagonist, Indie-a famous horror storyteller on the H-T-M (Horror, Tales, and Mystery) forum. What would she do when she unintentionally uncovered a mystery hidden deep within her own home?
I love the style of disconnect and the unorthodox way of getting to the truth of the matter. I’m not normally one to play furry VNs, but the designs are adorable and I love the presentation of the game, it has a lot of animation in it. there’s also one moment not too far in on this screen that made me scream…
curse of the juniper tree
Curse of the Juniper tree is a tale of two siblings, a cursed tree and an isolated village. It is a short kinetic visual novel featuring 2d exploration. Walk around the snowy village and talk to its inhabitants! Story is loosely based off the fairytale called The Juniper Tree by the Brothers Grimm in Grimm’s Fairy Tales in 1812.
this is a lovely and short story about two siblings living in a frozen land together. it’s a very atmospheric story with so many beautiful blues and detailed character designs. the controls were a bit hard to figure out at times but it’s worth your time.
reaplaced
Grea Perrim is a reaper of souls, and it’s her duty to bring the deceased to the other side. But in the world of reapers, death isn’t any kind of equalizer. The value of a soul is directly tied to the peculiarity of its death. Grea’s supernatural senses bring her to a Halloween house party with three costumed guests. She soon finds the most valuable kind of soul: the victim of a locked-room murder. In order to reap the soul, Grea must unravel the identity of its killer and explain its death in full. Is this the work of a human? A witch? Or something else entirely…?
reaplaced is a fun little whodunnit set on Halloween about a grim reaper out on the hunt who finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. it’s much more indepth than I was expecting and the soundtrack is wonderful—there’s a lot of small touches to it that make it great.
Silver Thread
An exorcist that doubts the existence of ghost might sound contradictory but to Alicia Wilkershire, this is the right way to get closer to the truth. Her latest job sounded like another run-of-the-mill case and she greeted her client with her usual pessimism but is it, really?
Silver Thread is a spooky and short RPGM game about a skeptical exorcist trying to help a guy with his problems. the style is lovely and if you also like this kind of style, the developer has several other RPGM games like this!
Elevator Hitch
Elevator Hitchis a short 2.5D surreal horror/escape room visual novel with point-and-click and puzzle elements following the story of two co-workers suddenly finding themselves stuck together in a "Perfectly Normal" 70s office elevator. They must explore each liminal-looking floor and find a way to get off the elevator to their actual destinations.
like a few others on this list, Elevator Hitch was made in just a month for the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam and was my favorite game from the year it came out (2022). it's more of an adventure style game than pure visual novel, so expect puzzles and a lot of bad ends! this developer also has a lot of other similar style adventure visual novels.
The Case of the Serialized Killer
When a popular illustrator is found dead, disgraced demonologist Harold Ludicael is hired to summon her ghost. Ghosts are the one thing he can't summon, but with sharp insight, perhaps he can solve the mystery, and resurrect the most important thing: His career.
this visual novel is an absolute feast on the eyes as all of the art is done by traditionally painted watercolor artworks! the characters are all unique and the world feels very lived in. if you like murder mysteries then check it out.
Stillwater
"𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕒𝕥 𝕒 𝕡𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕖…" A woman arrives with a mysterious letter in hand addressed to her grandfather. Etched in crimson is a foreboding message, a warning—a promise made from a time forgotten. Private Investigator Hugo Laurent and his assistants must solve this bizarre case before an old family's curse befalls them all.
Stillwater is a lovely looking game - I love everything about the art direction for it. it's not overly scary but very atmospheric with several endings to find.
Who is the Red Queen?
Alice falls down the rabbit hole into a Wonderland not quite right. Meeting an eclectic collection of people, animals, and some things in between, she sets out on an adventure in this odd new place to find the missing Red Queen. Or, more specifically, to find the pieces of the dismembered queen whose body has been strewn across the land.
a familiar but new take on Alice in Wonderland, now with a lot more yuri. like a lot of the VNs I've recommended, this was originally made in just 1 month. this one in particular has a lot of dead ends, mention of gore & dismemberment, and other content warnings.
okay now that you've made it this far I'm going to promote my gay horror / Halloween visual novels
Asphodelium
Hazel is an ex-adventurer who's settled down with some of his previous guildmates after the adventure of a lifetime—taking down a doomsday cult that tried to end the world, but at the cost of killing their former guild leader who turned against them. Despite their adventure still haunting him months later, he's tried to move on. —That is until a man with the same face as their guild leader approaches him. This is a story about cults and killing and killing cults. And being in love.
Asphodelium is a melancholic dark boys love visual novel that I made solo in about 3 months. it's entirely in NVL mode (I love you NVL) and around 3 hours long and my personal favorite game I've made so far.
Dahlia
a vampire has snuck into your room while you were sleeping. the only question is - are you next on her menu? Dahlia is a very short sapphic visual novel made in under 36 hours for the Velox Formido game jam, a jam for shortform visual novels. survive being trapped with a lovely little vampire, or don't.
also NVL mode because I love NVL mode. this is a short and sweet vampire visual novel I made solo in a weekend for a game jam that has several different endings.
Witch You Want
With a rather sparkly magical paper, you find a job listing for a local witch needing an assistant with making potions before the town festival that weekend. You sign up, unsure exactly what to expect...... A pompous and questionably excellent witch runs a local apothecary in town but finds that if she wants to make enough potions before the festival that weekend to sell (and keep her ongoing potion shop afloat) she'll need some assistance. After a dubious help wanted ad, she gains you as an assistant. Will the two of you see through to the festival? Will you be able to make a single potion? Will this girlfailure capture your heart?!
this is my latest visual novel that released just a few days ago! I directed & programmed this short cutesy game for a game jam at our studio. it's pretty fluffy romcom with a potion minigame in it. please help our girlfailure make potions, she needs all the help she can get.
#visual novel#visual novels#indie games#game recs#game recommendations#visual novel game#my recommendations#most of these are spooktober entries#I tried to only include finished or basically finished games#so no demos#and not every entry is straight up horror#some are more just about Halloween and some are partially comedic#there's a wide range here I think!

Joel Takes You on a Road Trip
Joel Miller x gf reader
A/N: Fall road trip, requested by @huntingingoodwill. Part of my Corrupt a Wish challenge. Patsy Cline Song is "Leavin' on Your Mind."
Warnings: mention of the infected, sedation Corrupt a wish reminder: If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention. Proceed with caution!
"Ain't falling asleep on me, are ya?" Joel asked, brushing your cheek lightly.
You glanced over at him with a lazy smile as you denied the gentle rocking was indeed lulling you into a comfortable slumber. "Course not," you mumbled over the quiet static of the car radio.
"And here I thought we were gonna have a nice chat," he chuckled, rubbing his thumb over the steering wheel.
You might have noticed the nervous gesture if you hadn't been thoroughly exhausted, a yawn rippling through you as you tried to respond. "Wh-what do you want to...talk about?" you finally managed to ask.
The lines near his temples crinkled slightly in amusement at the sight of your drooping eyelids, prompting him to gently urge, "Go on and close your eyes, darlin'." After the months you'd spent together, he was well aware you couldn't keep them open more than five minutes during long drives. However, the certainty of it gave him pause, an uneasy feeling settling in his gut thinking of the trust you'd placed in him.
Failing to notice his sullen expression, you snuggled down into the passenger's seat with Joel's jacket. Fingers clutching the worn edges of the soft fabric, you gently pulled the weighted material over yourself for warmth, careful to cover the unsightly bite mark on your shoulder. It was a gruesome reminder of the ordeal you'd faced just before meeting the man you now considered your guardian angel.
While others were unwilling to believe your fantastic claim of being bitten without infection, Joel had accepted you into his circle of protection instantly. He offered gentle words of comfort to get you through the early nights when you couldn't sleep out of fear and worry. With steadfast devotion, he promised you'd survive.
When you asked how he could be certain, he swore he'd seen a similar case once before in a young girl named Ellie. Though he was reluctant to speak of her, you learned she'd been like a daughter to him. The heartache in his voice kept you from asking questions about her fate, but the nagging curiosity rarely ceased. Only one thing could distract you from it and that was the sound of Joel's soft, Texas twang.
"Tell me again," you begged, head resting on the rattling window frame and he knew exactly what you meant.
As your eyelids fluttered, the passing shades of orange and red lightly dusted your vision and you began to imagine the kaleidoscope of color around Joel's lakeside cabin this time of year. He'd described it to you many times to satiate your curiosity, yet you still begged for more. You loved the way he spoke about this idyllic place, reciting the details from his memory like a bedtime story.
With a bit of reluctance, his husky voice rumbled to life beside you. "We're gonna follow the main road until it forks. Then 'bout three miles south there's a dirt path that twists and turns so far into the woods you'd think you were goin' back in time."
You exhaled deeply in satisfaction at his familiar tale, relishing the way he embellished the narrative like all good storytellers do.
"After you pass a rickety, old barn, you know you're gettin' close," his voice faded out momentarily as a radio station came into range. Patsy Cline's crisp, clear voice ringing out.
If you got leavin' on your mind Tell me now, get it over
His breathing hitched, eyes staring at the road intently as though deep in thought and you took the opportunity to remind him of the rest.
"The one with the peeling red paint that your uncle helped build," you added, so softy he almost didn't hear you.
"That's right," he agreed with a small nod of his chin. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he continued in the low, deep voice that soothed your soul. "You pass that barn and Grandaddy's cabin sits back there on the far side of the lake. On a calm day the water looks just like glass."
He ventured a wistful glance in your direction, eyes squinting against the sunshine as he tried and failed to picture the two of you standing on the dock. He'd wanted to take you fishing many times and introduce you to the splendid wonder of the surroundings. If not for recent circumstances, you might have lived happily on that forgotten parcel of land as man and wife. Shaking his head to dislodge the notion, he tried to bite back his own anxiety with honeyed promises so sweet he nearly succumbed to them himself.
"We'll fish and skip rocks across the lake," he hummed quietly, caught up in his own daydream. "If you get cold, I'll start a fire in the old wood stove to keep us warm..."
The serene thought made you curl your limbs in tighter, imagining his strong arms cradling you beneath a large quilt. You soon felt your body grow heavy with sleep, the soft rumbling of the engine melding with the strain of a piano and a forlorn voice.
Hurt me now, get it over I may learn to love again
A sudden jerk jolted you from slumber as the golden sunshine glistening before you sharpened into a ray of bright, white. You moaned, but when it escaped your lips there was a distinct note of pain present.
"Try not to move," a strange voice persisted as the pressure on your shoulder intensified.
"Joel?" you cried out, as you felt yourself being rolled down a long, sterile corridor. Arms and legs flailing in a frenzied panic, you began to reach out for him without success.
"We're going to need more sedation," a second voice announced behind you.
The radio was still playing in the distant recesses of your mind even as you blinked against the harsh light overhead and you struggled to comprehend where you were.
Don't leave me here, in a world Filled with dreams that might have been
"We'll take it from here," the voice near you soothed someone in the distance confidently, but it only worsened the spike of panic coursing through you.
Using all your willpower, you fought to sit up and crane your neck to see around the gurney. You found Joel's grief stricken face staring back at you from the doorway, a young brunette gathered in his arms. As a firm hand pressed you back into the bed, your strangled cry burst forth. "Don't leave me! Joel, please!"
His big brown eyes widened at your plea, helplessly looking between you and her. Just then the girl buried her head to his chest, groaning in agony. "Stay with me, Ellie," he urged as he strode away from you without looking back.
Your brain raced to piece everything together as you felt the sharp sting of a needle going into your arm.
"Shouldn't we alert security?" the nurse by your side hissed at her colleague.
"A life for a life. That was the agreement," you thought the other woman replied as your head grew fuzzy.
The rest of their conversation became a gentle buzzing at your ear as you sunk back against the pillows, the sedatives plunging you into a shadowy world of fantasy.
The tiny cabin stood before you, just as Joel had described, a path of bright orange leaves beckoning you to follow. The only sound was the distinct crunching beneath your boots, keeping count of every step. But when you came to rest, you found yourself alone, abandoned at the edge of a still, dark lake.

Day 11 — Cozy Night
Pairing || TFATWS!Bucky x Female!Reader
Word Count || Around 600
Contents & Warnings || Fluff — no warnings.
Disclaimer || English is not my first language so I apologise for any mistakes or misunderstandings!
Advent Calendar 2023
You and Bucky had spent the week in a magical cabin nestled within a winter wonderland forest. The getaway was a relaxation for you both, offering a sanctuary from the busyness of everyday life. Your days were spent visiting the charming town, exploring cute vintage shops, and savoring cocoa at the cozy cafe.
Your evenings unfolded in the warm embrace of the cabin, where you and Bucky cuddled by the crackling fireplace with an assortment of books. Wrapped in a thick blanket, you shared beautiful moments, taking turns reading passages and stealing soft kisses between lines.
On the last day, plans of departure were interrupted by an unforeseen snowstorm, the roads dangerous. Stranded for a few more days, you and Bucky embraced the unexpected twist of fate, turning it into another cozy night with each other.
The storm-induced power outage left the cabin in darkness, with only the flicker of flames in the fireplace and the gentle glow of the candles illuminating the space.
Nestled on a plush sofa, your legs covered by a thick blanket, you and Bucky snuggled together. The warmth from the fire and each other kept the chill away.
You were at the end of your book, and Bucky took charge of reading the final chapters. His voice was a soothing melody, a comforting cocoon enveloping you both. He kept the story flowing, his voice becoming a rhythmic lullaby that was almost hypnotic. Tracing the plates of his vibranium palm, your fingertips danced along to his storytelling.
At the conclusion of the book, Bucky’s soft voice lingered in the air, leaving a warm, happy feeling behind. Closing the book, he kisses your temple, and you hummed in contentment.
“Hmm, that was a wonderful story, babe. Your storytelling skills are on point. I could listen to your soothing voice forever.”
“Well, I’ve had a few centuries of practice,” he mumbled, brushing his lips against your skin.
Cuddling closer, limbs entwined, you let the warm flames and the echo of the tale envelop you both.
“What should we do now?” you pondered, breaking the comfortable silence.
“You’re not tired?”
You shook your head. “Are you?”
“Not the slightest. How about we do a puzzle?” Bucky suggested, eyeing the 500-piece set on the coffee table. The box was adorned with a snowy, picturesque landscape with a cabin, much like the one you found yourselves in.
“Let’s do it.”
Seated comfortably on the sofa, still close, you unpacked the contents of the puzzle box onto the coffee table, sorting through the countless tiny pieces.
You began with the edges, searching for the border pieces that would lay the foundation for your masterpiece. Your conversation flowed between debates over puzzle piece placement and sweet nothings whispered to each other. Occasionally, Bucky would kiss your cheek or nuzzle against your skin.
As the puzzle took shape, you became immersed in the details of the image coming to life. The crackling logs and the wind’s howl serve as background music, along with the satisfying click of connecting the pieces together.
When the final pieces fell into place, a sense of accomplishment washed over you both. The once chaotic pile of puzzle pieces had transformed into a breathtaking panorama.
“We did it. It’s beautiful, Bucky,” you hummed, resting your head on his shoulder, nuzzling into the soft material of his sweater.
“Yeah, it’s beautiful,” he agreed, voice low and soothing as he draped an arm over you, pulling you closer. “Almost as beautiful as this moment with you.”
Meeting his gaze, filled with adoration, you felt a rush of affection. “I’m so glad we got stranded here for a few more days.”
“Me too, doll,” he whispered, leaning in to press a tender kiss to your lips. “It turned our simple getaway into a magical adventure.”

Okay you're getting the The Long Dark rant now!
For anyone here that doesn't know The Long Dark: It's a single-player survival game set on (i think fictional) Great Bear Island in Canada (i think that one's not fictional). There are no zombies, there are no other players, it's just you and the wilderness and the cold. You're dropped into a map (that, at the start, isn't even filled in yet - ya gotta do that yourself-) and have to loot buildings left behind by other humans, hunt animals & forage to sustain yourself,... You can find some cool stuff, there are lots of cool spaces (a hydroelectric dam, a camp cabin near a lake, derailed cargo-train, firewatch tower,...) and lots of snow. I haven't really gone for much lore yet, but there was a geo-magnetic event that fried all electricity, so no more easy light & heating, and that fucked with the wildlife a bit.
Now, you're dropped into this pretty-much empty world [no other human survivors except a lone trader who you never directly talk to], only wolves and rabbits and deer, with no other context than "Your plane crashed in the Canadian wilderness after a storm. Try to survive." and that's it. You make your own story. You decide where to go, what to hunt, what to do. You're alone, but you're alive. Better work on keeping it that way.
And, in a stroke of complete fucking genius, you have a journal in one of your tabs that you can just write into whatever you want, and it goes day by day. Whoever at Hinterland Studios made that change, I WANT TO KISS YOU ON THE MOUTH, YOU ARE WONDERFUL. I've been having SUCH a blast, surviving situations and then later telling harrowing tales in that journal-section about how i did so, wondering how i got here as i find out little bits and pieces of context/lore, making some stuff up, just being casually creative that way - I LOVE IT. And, in another stroke of genius, YOU CAN SAVE THE JOURNAL WHEN YOU DIE. So, after dying in your run that spanned 200 days, you're not just going to lose that hand-crafted story you lived & told yourself - you can keep that written memento of all the cool gameplay and stories you yourself created. Absolutely masterful, and some of the most engaging bases for storytelling i've found in the survivalgame category, maybe ever - and i haven't even touched the storymode yet!
#the sols play The Long Dark#The Long Dark#no spoilies pls! still discovering the game ^^#only really been to Mystery Lake and Mountain Town properly yet#rayla talks

Stuck in a cabin for the night, Ciri asks Geralt to tell her a story. Storytelling has never been Geralt's strong suit; that role always belonged to Jaskier. However, Geralt had sent Jaskier away.
Thinking of his bard, Geralt decides to tell a fairy tale, making Jaskier the main character. Unbeknownst to Geralt, he has crafted a story involving Ciri, incorporating her thoughts periodically.
Through some magic, every part of the story begins to happen to Jaskier wherever he is.

yes my small hiatus took a long time and im not ashamed bec i did it slowly and as i see it and overall, im happy with everything so technically, im still in hiatus here
the vv:bs project was 80% done, but my laptop said GIIIRL im too HOT for this shit 💻💅 so now i have to find a repairman or buy a new...
but it's been a long time since this post and i've changed a lot of things haha…..
i suggest you take a look at what I have so far
hood preview
map
premedes house makeovers from orig verona made by me
(shhh i know… i know…)
maybe i'll edit them all in the future imnotsure
new playable family's\new family members in standard families; im too lazy to take pics of pets pardon
The Macbeth - Gloucester
The Сapp's butler and Monty
The Summerdreams
The Counts
The Zhung - Snout
Character biographies? Well, i got inspired by the ts2psp with secrets and now it looks like this:
Wow, this place is much bigger than a cramped cabin on a fishing boat, although my cousins went overboard with the nautical theme heh. I need to thank them for their kindness, I wonder if this town has a fishing pond? Maybe that cute diva in the overalls can give me a clue?
(Interesting) Ferdie's full name is Ferdinand Gustav Gloucester. But he's not particularly comfortable with such formalities
(Personal) To everyone's surprise. Ferdy has quietly survived the death of his parents, which is suspicious. But the truth is, if you spend half your life hearing tales that the ocean is a dangerous and deadly place, you can build up an immunity
(Dark) Ferdie spent half his life on a boat helping his dad and mom fish. So he has no idea how to socialize with his peers.
(Bonus) Until his parents died in a shipwreck, Ferdie had no idea his uncle and cousins existed
and some of photos from the storytelling albums so you'll believe im not a *andereDev
i apologize for the poor quality in some places, i took screens in a hurry i won't be able to show you more anytime soon because my laptop is probably already in the repair shop or im crying somewhere
bottom line: my autism won and pray queer pple for my laptop
#ts2#the sims 2#veronaville#vv:bs#fun fact: Helena always has a neutral facial expression in her photos bec she considers her smile unrealistic and creepy

Taylor Swift - In The Trees Tour (If Folklore went on tour)
The summer after her blockbuster indie-folk double album, Taylor Swift embarks on a tour befitting of the acoustic tales Folklore and Evermore weave. All outdoor venues in forests and parks and canyons across America, some of the most iconic stages once helmed by the greatest storytellers to ever pick up a guitar. Among others, Red Rocks, The Hollywood Bowl, the infamous Woodstock grounds, and one intimate night in Central Park beneath the stars. Folklore and Evermore come to life from the steps of a traveling mid-century cabin, where Taylor can gaze out upon her audience each night, nestled among verdant trees, sprawled out on grassy lawns, or cradled by the mountains. Buy tickets now to the concert of the summer and experience Folklore and Evermore as Taylor herself wishes to be pictured; In The Trees.
#taylor swift#folklore#evermore#eras tour#i loved planning this and i would have LOVED attending it#i KNOWWWWW the delacourte is way too small but i couldn't resist#and i KNOWWW most of these venues are too small but in my defense#she had 4 shows total planned in the US for lover so#her anticipated audience was much smaller then#anyway what a DREEEAM to listen to taylor outside with the breeze blowing and grass beneath my feet#it was also really fun learning about all the lesser known outdoor venues across the country#DYING to go to the washington one#don't yell at me for not doing enough nights at a certain place ok i'm not a tour manager#mine

You’ve listened to all my tales, about love, denial, and regrets.
Tales about solitude, greed, and religion.
Tales about grief, friendship, and fate.
But now it’s time for one more story, one more tale…
A tale about DEATH!

finally managed to get all these thoughts coherent lol. here goes: my full list of 2.5 theories/predictions (which, given my previous success rate, are probably mostly incorrect lmao):
1 – 2.5 brandon is the same person as 1.9 brandon
evidence: both brandons struggle with sleep, both brandons receive psychiatric care, the name “brandon” hasn’t been reused for any other characters, given the main threat is dreams, 2.5 brandon is likely to survive, 2.5 brandon’s VA referred to him as “little brandon” as if to differentiate him from another version of the character (i.e. the adult brandon from 1.9)
2 – the gods from 1.9 are the storytellers i.e. death and the sailor (this is relevant)
evidence: howard says the gods “created everything,” which could be the storytellers creating each story’s universe when making the tales, howard says death’s “do you laugh in the face of death?” quote, since death was constantly talking about no one escaping him, he could’ve asked howard to make the human sacrifices to prove that point
3 – brandon was contacted by the same gods as howard
evidence: there are at least two storytellers and there are at least two monsters featured in brandon’s dream, marionettes are associated with control and pulling strings, which could fit death controlling the stories, while trolls are often used as a source of punishment or trial in stories, which is similar to what the sailor was like at the end of 2.4, also probably a reach but the creature that came out of the ground at the end of 1.9 kinda sounded like a troll to me
4 – snuggles is either destroyed/killed or turns out to be evil
evidence: nothing good ever happens to cabin tales characters who are nice
5 (the most tin foil hat theory of them all) – brandon is the traveller/listener
evidence: sailor was talking about “punishment” and “knowing why you’re here” in the previous episode, which could mean brandon is being punished by way of reliving his trauma for not listening to the gods/storytellers earlier, the 2.5 episode description talks about “your childhood fears,” even though only brandon is facing his fears, this sure would “change everything”
#cabin tales#brandon cabin tales#the sailor cabin tales#cabin tales storyteller#r3n3 writings#this episode is making me INSANE

Cosmere Hot Take: Nobody ever actually called Tress oftheEmeraldSea "Tress" or any other nickname, throughout her youth, adventures on the Crow's Song, or beyond - not until someone started telling her story on planets throughout the Cosmere. It's just that Hoid couldn't avoid describing his own plot-critically embarrassing part in the tale, so for what shreds remain of his dignity, as a cabin boy and as a master storyteller, he drew the line at admitting that his ship captain and heroine was named Glorf.

Drawn Together- Chapter 4
Paring: Eventual Tech× Jedi! Female Reader
The Bad Batch are on the run after the events on Pantora when they run into a mysterious stranger who offers them assistance. Who is this stranger, and why does it seem like they know Echo? The story will follow the events of the series once established.
*Author Note- If you've been following along so far, I've gone back and made edits to chapters 1-3 cause I didn't love the flow and some of the dialogue. So, this chapter may feel repetitive to those readers. If you're new here, please disregard and enjoy.*
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
The Batch is now comfortably scattered around the main living space of your cabin. The mood has shifted to something lighter—a rare moment of peace. Nothing hanging over them as the mystery surrounding you is put to rest, and Echo’s condition improves by the hour. Wrecker’s booming laughter fills the cabin as he recounts a tale from one of their missions during the Clone Wars, and Omega is hanging on his every word, her eyes wide with fascination.
She laughs loudly, “You lifted the entire transport by yourself?”
“Not the whole thing… but enough to make a difference! Ha! You should’ve seen the looks on those droids’ faces!” Wrecker boasts. Even Tech allows himself to be drawn into the conversation, adding in details about the logistics of Wrecker’s feat as he taps a few notes on his datapad. “But that’s nothing compared to the stories I’ve heard of the General here,” Wrecker elbows you as he finishes.
You shake your head, embarrassed slightly, "Oh, don’t encourage it, Wrecker. My squad’s over-the-top storytelling was bad enough.”
"I wanna hear," Omega chimes in excitedly.
Sitting back against a chair, Hunter chuckles softly, "I’ve heard a few of those stories myself. Some of the escapades from your unit could rival ours. So what’s the real story behind you pulling down an entire dam?"
You groan, rubbing your temples. "Let me set the record straight. I didn’t pull down the entire dam. Just a quarter of it. Strategically."
Echo, still recovering, smiles faintly from where he sits, though his energy remains limited, “ "Strategically, huh? From what I recall in the report, the rest of it came down anyway."
"That’s because of the explosives my squad planted! They did most of the work. I just gave it a little nudge."
"A little nudge! That’s like saying I give ‘em a ‘gentle shove’ when I throw a B1 battle droid through a wall!"
Eyes still glued to his datapad, Tech chimed in. "To be fair, the precision required to bring down only part of the dam without endangering civilian lives is remarkable. However, I’d be curious to see the schematics of the structure. That might illuminate just how much of a 'nudge' was necessary."
"Thanks, Tech. But you weren’t there for the aftermath. The Council wanted an explanation. My squad was no help. They kept talking me up like I was the reincarnation of the Force itself. And Obi-Wan never let me live that one down. He kept cracking jokes, saying things like, 'Well, if diplomacy fails, at least we have our resident dam-destroyer."
"HAHA. Well, if you ever do feel like bringing down another dam, call me. I wanna see it this time!"
"Sure, Wrecker. I’ll put you on the demolition team."
The room is filled with camaraderie, starkly contrasting the tension they felt in the days leading up. It feels strange, almost surreal, to share stories of the war, a time that now feels like a different lifetime. After a while, the stories slow, replaced by comfortable silence. The group starts to settle into sleep, their bodies and minds exhausted from the long day. Wrecker, Omega, and Hunter drift off one by one, leaving only you and Tech awake.
Tech sits at the table, his datapad glowing faintly as he types with quiet precision. You join him at the table, watching him momentarily before speaking.
"Tech, can I ask you something?"
His fingers paused momentarily on the datapad. Without looking up, he replies, "of course."
“How long did you know?”
He looks up now, his expression calm but inquisitive. "Since our first encounter. You carry yourself differently than most, and your instincts are unusually precise. It wasn’t difficult to infer that you’re more than you claim to be. I wasn’t exactly sure of what until the situation with Echo."
You sigh, "And here I was, thinking I was being careful. Even around you all."
“You were. To most, your deception would have been flawless. However, I make a habit of observing the finer details." He tilts his head slightly. "Your knowledge of tactics, your ability to adapt in unpredictable situations, and your occasional slips in terminology, those stood out for me."
“I guess you don’t stop being a Jedi overnight," you shrug. "I do owe you an apology for not trusting you sooner. I should have been honest, but I didn’t know if I could trust any of you. Especially after everything that’s happened with the clones and the Jedi."
Tech leans back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest. "A logical precaution, given the circumstances. Jedi have been hunted relentlessly since Order 66. Trust, under those conditions, is a luxury." He pauses, then proceeds with a slight nod. "Still, it’s good to hear the truth now."
"It wasn’t just self-preservation. I didn’t want to put you in a position where you’d have to choose between me and your duty. It didn’t seem fair."
Adjusting his goggles, "I appreciate that consideration, though I believe you’ve come to realize we are not bound by the same directives as standard clones. If anything, our choices have always been… unconventional." He flashes you a faint smile. "And for what it’s worth, your actions consistently demonstrated your intentions long before your words did."
"Thank you, Tech. That means a lot," you smile, relieved.
He returns to his datapad, his tone lighter now. "Curiosity remains, however. How long did you intend to keep this a secret?"
You laugh softly. "As long as I could get away with it."
This causes him to glance back up slightly, a faint smirk on his lips. "A flawed strategy. Secrets have a tendency to unravel under scrutiny. Fortunately for you, I’m not inclined to hold it against you. Your contributions have been invaluable, regardless of your title."
"You’re kinder than I expected."
"Not kind. Simply pragmatic. You’ve proven trustworthy and effective. That’s what matters." He explains matter-of-factly.
A comfortable silence settles between them as Tech resumes typing. You break the comfortable silence with a declaration. "For the record, I’m glad you figured it out. Keeping secrets isn’t my strong suit.
“Clearly.”
