the statement is true but slightly more complicated/ nuanced but in short the state exists because no other country wanted to have Jewish people in them when there was the proposal of a Jewish state. There was land in the Middle East that had been under British rule. When the colonizers were pulling out, instead of giving it back to the Indigenous people of Palestine they gave it to the Jews because they had ‘land claims' from the bible and like historically even though they hadn’t lived there for like thousands of years

tldr: Israel exists because no one wanted Jewish people in their country and there was land "available" in the middle east.
