I just read your persona 5 au where Okumura fakes his death, and I wanted to say I love it! Even if you don't continue it, it is by far one of my fave persona 5 fanfics!
AAAAAAA OH MY GOD :””””)
Thank you. Trust me, I’ve wanted to continue it FOR-FUCKING-EVER, but I just haven’t had the muse. I have the skeleton of the plot figured out, and I could tell you all the story beats, but it’s just about putting it all together. I’d love to tell you more if you ask questions!!!
Regardless @emberstoriesandtales I give you the biggest fucking hug

Summary: Morro and Wu fly back home.
Warnings: Sobbing, unreliable narrator(?)
Prompt: Day 5 - Fly | "Time to go home"
Extra: Generic "what if Morro lived in the season 5 finale" AU. This oneshot is Morro and Wu's flight back to the Bounty, so they finally talk about their feelings. I hope you enjoy this!
"You can only save those who want to be saved. Goodbye, Sensei," Morro said with a bittersweet smile.
"Ugh!"—he shoved the Realm Crystal, the thing he worked so hard for, into his mentor's hands.
Then he let go.
He felt himself sinking, being dragged down to his watery death by her.
He heard the water lapping below him, threatening to swallow him whole, to consume him, to dissolve his ghostly body into nothing.
Until he heard a fleshy ripping noise. The muffled sound of The Preeminent screaming echoed from beneath him, and suddenly he wasn't sinking. He wasn't being held in a deathly grasp by his mistress. He wasn't being condemned to his oceanic end.
No, instead he sat atop an off-white scaly beast, with the sound of wings flapping in his spectral ears.
"Maybe you don't want to be saved, but this is not where your story ends, Morro," a voice, Wu's voice, uttered from behind. Morro whipped around, and there he was.
His sensei. His teacher. He… saved Morro.
"…why?"
"I should have stopped you from leaving the first time. I will not watch you leave again."
Oh.
Morro did not need to breathe. Ghosts do not have the ability to breathe.
So why did his throat hurt, like he's gasping for air while being choked?
Why did his eyes sting from tears his ghostly body cannot make?
Why did it hurt just a little bit more when Wu, his sensei, his father, hugged him despite Morro not being able to feel it?
Why did he feel the urge to wail, like a little child? Like he did when Mama didn't come back.
Muddled sounds of flapping wings and rushing winds broke him from his thoughts. Wu's dragon was soaring through the open sky, clouds distant and seemingly untouchable.
"You seem calmer now, my son."
Morro realized he was leaning against his master, and jerkily moved away. Wu shifted the reins in his hands.
Wait- "The Realm Crystal! Where is it?" Morro panicked. Did he knock it out of his hands? Oh The Preeminent was gonna-
Oh right. The Preeminent did try to kill him.
"It is safe. I dropped it off with the Ninja, so they could bring back Lloyd."
The wind elemental sighed in relief.
"I can't stay with you," Morro blurted.
"I don't see why you can't," Wu responded, his voice dripping in apathy.
"I- wha- I am a horrible person! I just tried to curse this realm! I-I possessed Lloyd, I tried to kill your Ninja, I have no redeeming qualities, I don't-..." he exhaled frustratedly, "I don't deserve your pity. I don't deserve this."
A beat of silence. Morro looked off in the endless blue of the sky.
"Well that's not right."
Morro was baffled. His sensei had obviously gone mad.
"Morro, you are my son. Adopted or not, you deserve my love, and I have failed you."
"You never failed me, I failed you. I should've lived up to your expectations-"
"But I did." Wu tilted his head back, as if the sky would tell him what to say next. "You don't need to be the best, you never did. I would've loved you either way, Morro. You're my son, you always will be. I should've made that clear. You do not need to be anyone or anything other than yourself for me to love you."
The feeling came back. Morro felt his lip quiver as he poorly restrained his feelings. He said nothing.
"I-I… I just wanted you to… be proud of me." His throat tightened more. "I thought that… if I was as great as you saw me, you would."
"And I should've shown I was. I was always proud of you, my son."
"...even now? I tried to ruin everything."
"Even now. Although I am quite disappointed you have used your training to destroy instead of protect, you are my son. And, I know you can do better."
Morro buried himself back into his father's shoulder. He sobbed, although tearless, as his father, his father, silently comforted him.
"Time to go home."

OSCAR ARCHIBALD RICKETTS. @criticalfai1ure for r/v au.
THERE'S SOMETHING LIKE HOPE AGAIN, living in her skin, giving color to the blood worn thin & blue by those long nights at Collinwood. much as she has tried to talk herself out of that foolish romanticism, as if she has any reason to suspect this engagement will fare any better than the others. she doesn't. and in all likelihood, knowing the marital fates that await those on top of the hill, A LOGICAL MIND would suspect that this marriage might very well end worse, and she had best prepare herself to weather that unwelcome fate. but that does not keep the grin from her cheeks, silly though it is. even her WORST misgivings do not outweigh the gravity of diamond on her finger, and the ghosts cannot distract her from its gleam. even the antics of her student ––  her son, soon to be ! ––  cannot upset her, for it is the very qualifier that redeems him.
she supposes the shine will dull by the time the wedding date arrives. all the glee of a betrothal tarnished in the oxide of the courtroom, in the long, unpleasant days ahead of their respective annulments. and perhaps that is true. but for now, the future Mrs. Collins summons wayward scholar more eagerly than she ever has, for the history of Maine has never looked brighter than when she is to be written into it. she gives four knocks at the old, salt-kissed wood of the door.
❝ Archie, oh, I'm sorry to trouble you. David's run off, have you seen him ? he's so curious about the lighthouse, I thought he might have come here. ❞
the face of the spectral keeper is thinner than last she saw him, whiter, too. that ought to be normal, for one in his profession, but her brows draw lower nonetheless, though politesse keeps her from remarking on his health. I should check in on him more regularly. it's what the MISTRESS OF THE HOUSE would do, anyway. and no better time than the present to start practicing.
❝ I've a mind to put a leash on him next time. he won't escape his English lessons then. ❞

A new AU popped into my head last night and won't leave me alone, so here we go. Heart: the City Beneath AU for CP9. (You don't need to know anything about Heart or Spire, just play along.)
The origin fits all too well. Once a gang of legendary assassins whispered about in the shadows and beholden to higher powers, the members of CP9 took the fall for a mission gone wrong. Battered and broken, they are cast out from the very place that took them in and molded them into killing machines. Except this time, they don't escape, and they are not put to death. They are given one final mission, and sent to that land under the city. The Heart.
Everyone has heard whispers of the Heart, that endless dungeon that contorts itself to suit one's desires, and in turn warps those who plumb its depths. And while it's rare, it's not unheard of for people to return from the Heart alive. At first, CP9 has hope that they'll do the same, that this mission will redeem them in the eyes of their former masters. All they have to do is reach the depths of the Heart, complete their mission, and return home.
But then the changes begin to take hold of them, one by one.
Tumblr media
Still injured from their mission gone wrong, Blueno perishes during a desperate skirmish. Or at least, he seems to, but his wounds knit shut and he brushes off all concerns with a simple "just a scratch". No one else sees what he does, a spectral figure that is his own death, loaning him just enough time to help his teammates survive before he truly succumbs to his wounds. He soon discovers that he can tear open gateways out of the Heart and into...elsewhere, and while these places aren't always safer, he learns to pull his team out of desperate situations into places where they can hide and recover.
On one mission, Kumadori finds a lost badge somehow carved with his own name. No, it is his mother's, long thought dead herself. Is she down here somewhere, waiting for her son to find her? Kumadori clutches the badge tightly, and find it gives him strength he could never have imagined before. Like his mother, and those who wielded such badges before her, are helping to guide his actions. Those who see his badge begin to call him a Hound, with some degree of reverence. He wonders what it means, what his mother got herself into so far from home.
Everyone always called Jabra a wolf for his deceptive ways, so he finds it ironic the first time he dons his red cloak and hood. But to keep his friends safe, Jabra made some deals and found himself caught up in lies, only for someone from another world to take a shine to him and his wily ways. All he has to do is follow Her orders to collect coin and blood on Her behalf, and he can borrow anything he needs to protect his friends. Good thing he's used to working for inscrutiable masters, because it's not like he can pull a fast one on the Goddess of Debt herself...or can he?
Fukuro is always on the hunt for more information about the Heart and its other connected realms, and after Jabra is claimed as Incarndine, Fukuro finds himself asking about what other powerful beings lurk nearby. He finds them as he digs for answers, the Drowned Queen and the Stone Chorus among many others, but it's never enough. He keeps digging, and as he's never one to keep his mouth shut for long, words of power soon pass by his lips. And they work. Turns out, all you need to achieve unlimited magical power is a fast tongue, a dash of power siphoned off of faux-gods locked in other realms, and just a pinch of one's sanity. Fukuro sometimes wonders if he should turn back, but there's still so much more to know and so much deeper in the Heart to go, so he's going to keep at it.
The deeper they go, the more mordibly beautiful Kaku finds this place, and he wants nothing more than to run wild through this land and dive deep to find its secrets. It unconsciously calls to him, and he answers in kind. He keeps seeing things in the shadows, and while he never loses his footing in the Heart anymore, his tracks always well up with puddles of blood, but everyone writes it off as weird quirks of the Heart. That is, until the first time Kaku transforms into a beast of twisted flesh and bone, contorting his body in order to eliminate their foes. He's shaken once he's human again, but this first shift will not be his last. He is a being of the Heart now, and he's in search of his new, true home.
Rob Lucci...everyone knows Lucci was already a monster driven by blood. And it's so, so easy for the Heart to twist this. More than blood, Lucci wants power to right what has happened to him, and he begins to tear it out of the very foes who get in his way. The changes start small, with sharpened teeth and a predatory growl. But as his victories mount and they further descend into the Heart, his shadow looks less and less human. No one's sure how to ask if he's alright, but judging by the way he smiles as blood drips down his lips...they're almost afraid that he likes what he's becoming.
Unlike many of the others, Kalifa cannot stand the Heart. Its corruption sickens her to the core, and she wants nothing more than to cleanse this place and be free of it. The Heart reacts paradoxically to her desire to destroy it, and it leads her to a sanctuary her corrupted friends dare not follow her into. Many eyes stare into her and question her determination and her purity, but even with her bloody hands, they find her clean. She is asked if she wishes to become a weapon to fight back against the darkness swallowing up her friends. She agrees. And she walks out buzzing with light and power. She will keep the others from succumbing to the Heart, regardless of what desires are brought up against them.
What would they find, down there in the Heart? Do they try to complete their mission against all odds, or do they succumb and become denizens of the Heart forevermore? Will Spandam get stuck down here too, and is a not-quite-dead Nero lurking down there as well? (Does Bedlam find them, and are they human or more Angelic than just their wings?)
If I wasn't already writing other long fics, I'd definitely consider...but maybe I'll write some oneshots here or there. (Or just play one of them in a Heart game, which I was tempted to do anyway.)
(A class translation for the curious: Blueno is a Deathwalker, Kumadori is a Hound, Jabra is an Incarndine, Fukuro is a Junk Mage, Kaku is a Witch and Lucci is a Cleaver. I still haven't decided if Kalifa is a Heretic or a Deep Apiarist, so I left hers vague to suit either. Before entering the Heart, they were all likely Mortician Executioners back in Spire.)

“Primus’s God”: Christians on Cybertron AU
So this is part of my own personal AU I am working on called the Ultimate Universe where G1, Prime, Animated, and the IDW Lost Light all happened in that order. So read on knowing I in no wise claim this to be cannon.
So we know Drift is a Spectralist and almost everyone agrees his religion is a bit crazy. But I feel like the original writers just picked something stupid sounding to poke fun at religion and never explored Spectralism enough to give it the respect any religion deserves. But in keeping with the idea most Cybertronians think Drift’s beliefs are bogus, I picked something that would not settle well with most Cybertronians.
Belief in an organic God.
To start with, most Cybertronians are terrified and disgusted by organics. Worshipping one as God, placing them above Primus, is often viewed as sacrilege by the devout and idiotic by the rest. confirmed believers are often persecuted; mocked at the least and even denied their rights by the Council and Senate. (Because of this, most belonged to the Decepticon movement early in the war and later defected. They also tend to be less star struck by The Prime and judge them for their actions and/or tell them when they are being idiots.)
As Drift tries to explain it, he isn’t rejecting belief in Primus. Primus was a great prophet, a being of immense power, and the father of the Transformers. He still practices mainstream Cybertronian religion, just like some Buddhists are members of other faiths as well. He believes he worships the God of Primus, practicing the same religion as that of the Guiding Hand.
Due to Information Creep, the origins of Cybertron are shrouded in mystery. Some believe the members of the Guiding Hand were built and then freed by organics from different planets. The Guiding Hand was guided by the shared God of these planets alongside thousands of other sentient machines from across the galaxy to a world of their own.
This God showed them how to gain bodies to match their souls from hotspots and gave them the Allspark so they could create posterity of their own. They await the birth of His Son, Immanuel, on a planet named Christus. This Son will redeem all life of their sins.
This religion has a very small following; you’re more likely to meet a Point-One-Percenter than to know a “Christain”. Not even the late Optimus Prime the great Matrix Bearer of the Great War put much stock in their beliefs, occasionally mocking his Second in Command Prowl of Praxus for his backward beliefs. Even despite the fact, several isolated organic planets all have the same belief system including Earth. Earth even claims to be the planet Christus if their Winter Holiday is to be believed.
The younger Optimus Prime of the Detroit bound maintenance crew is a believer in Primus’s God, and though Sari failed to mention the true meaning of Christmas, he took much joy in the knowledge that Easter brought.
Of course, aboard the Lost Light, we know Drift to be a member. But there are two others. Rodimus is not so surprising due to his close relationship with both young Optimus and Drift, but the second is more baffling to the crew. Rung is a quietly devout Christian, and he and Cyclonus stick up for each other’s beliefs.

Okay, I know people love to hate on ROTJ, but I, personally, love it and it's my favorite Star Wars movie. Here are some reasons why:
-Luke is a badass throughout the whole movie. Full stop. -Threepio's reactions to pretty much everything at Jabba's palace -R2's nervous whistle in Jabba's throne room -The random light music as the droids enter. Also, Jabba eating frogs. -Han as a decoration. -Subtitles for alien speech. YESS. -I don't like that Oola, the Twi'lek dancer dies--"Oola lives!" fics are an execellent Star Wars AU subgenre--but it's masterful from a storytelling perspective the way her death foreshadows a) what Jabba has in store for Luke with the rancor and b) makes a space for Leia as Jabba's prisoner/establishes Jabba's kink for humanoid female slaves, all without intelligible dialogue.   -Luke in a black cloak. Also full stop. -Luke in black in general, actually. -Not knowing what the hell is going on with the rescue plan or if Luke is actually evil for a while. -"Someone who loves you." BAM. -That little creature outside of Jabba's palace that eats another random creature while the suns sets. -Salacious Crumb - the little monkey-lizard creature - being fascinated by Jabba's wriggling tail.   -The sheer audacity and confidence of confronting Jabba and demanding to get his way in the throne room. -...and right before execution. "Jabba, this is your last chance. Free us-- or die." -R2 serving drinks on the sail barge. -Luke outfacing the Rancor with no weapons. -the sobbing rancor keeper, sobbing over the death of his murder monster -That flip off the gangplank - followed shortly thereafter by the flip (which Yoda trained Luke to in ESB). -Green lightsaber for the win!   -Luke gets shot in his artificial hand, yowling in pain, but keeps going -Leia strangling Jabba with her chains -The way the music swell as we cut from the Tatooine rescue to space -Luke coming back to Yoda after all -Double entendre in "I've got a promise to keep to an old friend". -RD-D2's welding the X-wing while Yoda is dying -The way Luke says "Obi-wan..." when the spectral ghost of his former teacher emerges out of the Dagobah mist -Obi-wan actually explaining something for once -Luke's dogged insistence that there is still good in Vader -General Lando!! -How utterly chill Mon Mothma is -Luke waltzing in right at the most dramatic moment possible to join the strike team -The background music while they're attempting to land the shuttle. -The Endor outfits -The speeder bike chase -OMG REDWOODS, EVERYBODY! -Luke trying hard not to laugh at Han when they are confronted by Ewoks -Luke's calm suggestions to Threepio... and using the Force to convince the Ewoks that Threepio is actually a deity -Leia meeting Wicket and offering him food - and Wicket deciding she's okay, and stabbing that trooper in the leg -Leia picking Wicket up and going off with him! -The contrast between the quiet music as Leia and Wicket vanish into the jungle and the abrupt cut to awesome starfighter music as the Alliance fleet gears up for battle -Ewok tree dwellings -Tiny Ewok babies! -Threepio narrating the story of the previous two movies - with sound effects. -Lando thinking on the spot and not giving up when the situation looks hopeless. -"It's a trap!" .. and Ackbar in general. -Callback, but with role reversal! "I love you." "I know." (!!!) -R2 getting the call to open the door and moving fast; Threepio's utter bewilderment -that poignant scene where a dying Ewok mourns a friend -all the creative ways the Ewoks have to kill people -How many times our heroes get in and out of that bunker -Luke's utter calm when confronting Vader on Endor -That awkward elevator scene on the Death Star -"Soon I'll be dead, and you with me." Cold, son! -Luke hiding under the catwalk, unwilling to fight Vader -Luke's rage when Vader taunts him about Leia -Luke chopping off Vader's artificial hand and looking down at his own. -Luke tossing away his lightsaber. -"You've failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me." "So be it." -Luke being right about the good in Vader -Luke carrying his father's body to the shuttle. -Han's utter confusion about Luke and Leia's relationship -Poignant death scene/redemption -The solo funeral pyre burning the armor -everybody dancing with the Ewoks -Ewoks banging on stormtrooper helmets -Luke on the edge, before Leia draws him back in -The trio of Force ghosts smiling at Luke!!
...so, pretty much the entire movie.
Everyone likes to hate on the Ewoks, but when I was a kid, I thought they were AWESOME because they lived in trees and had their own society and gave zero fucks, and I wanted to do that. Also, they are the ultimate definition of "looks like a cinnamon roll, but will totally kill you" meme, as the subsequent battle proves.
Basically, the Rebellion won the day because the Empire didn't think a bunch of non-human "primitives" could possibly beat them or be worth engaging as allies... and Leia decided to be kind to them and get them on her side (and feed them ration bars she had in her pocket) and won the battle as a direct result of their aid.
So just as Luke's mercy ultimately redeems Vader - a personal triumph - it's Leia's kindness that ultimately wins the war and the larger picture. And I love that.
Also, while I am super uncomfortable with some of the dynamics and Unfortunate Implications in this movie, especially around Leia, Lando and the Ewoks, most of those went over my head as a kid and I still love this movie despite its flaws. Looking forward to re-watching it again as "fic research".

Hey there, so I read your P5/P4 crossover fanfic, including the extra info, and there’s something I’m curious about. If P4 ended the way it did, then I’m guessing that Yu failed his journey and no longer has the Wildcard ability. Did him and Adachi stop contacting each other? Will the Wildcard ability be present in some of the story’s main characters? (CoughKunicoughAkechicough)
Yeah, Yu is no longer a wildcard.  He and Adachi haven’t talked in years, but they’ll be in contact soon enough for story reasons.  Goro will be a wildcard, but Kunikazu is not!

WEDNESDAY: name a fic which you have posted which you think is underrated?
i mean...  “an unorthodox absolution” is my pride and joy, and i wanna get more traction and feedback on it.  i’m stuck in jooj hell, but once it relents a little, i wanna get back to writing it, but there’s only a few comments (7, all of which i’ve replied to), so i’m like... i want it to be worth going back to
AUGUST: are any of your fics associated with certain genres/artists/songs/etc?
villain redemption arcs and enemies (optionally to friends) to lovers.  i just can’t help it; i want everyone to have a spark of good in them.
SEPTEMBER: share a comment or review which still warms your heart?
this was on the last chapter of “an unorthodox absolution” and i just... it makes me a lil teary sometimes
“Holy shit, I admit I was rather unconvinced when I saw the summary and the tags but I figured 'Eh what the hell I'll give it a try' and, wow this is seriously awesome! I really like how you characterized Okumura and laughed at Akechi's exasperated mothering of him, poor pancake boi XD I'll be keeping a careful eyeout for the rest of what is looking like a great and gripping series!“

oh!!!
my icon is an edit of kunikazu okumura from persona 5 done by the lovely and amazing @corruptedhex255!  i have an au where he fakes his death and assumes a new identity in order to combat the conspiracy.  he eventually gains a persona of his own and forms a team of other reforming villains.  i’m in the process of writing the first “book” of it right now, where the initial team comes together!
