I mean who literally cares if it has horrible writing and no plot? Or you learned nothing from it and it was cliche as hell.

So? You had fun and thats what matters.

Im an epic fantasy and dark romance girl but trust me i love stupid little rom coms. They are exactly what i need after an intense book.

Like yes the author might have used present tense when the statement requires past tense but idgaf. All that matters is that i had fun.

Im not like ´´well there were multiple grammatical errors in this novel and as a person who majors in English this is clearly unacceptable🤓 ´ ´

No i seriously do not care.

So yes i like the off campus/briar u series. Yes i like the American roommate experience. Yes i like the bellamy creek series. And yes they are all chessy as hell but i had fun

Armas’ “The Spanish Love Deception” duology has a special place in my heart!

Her unique writing style made it easy of fall in love with the fictional couples in both TSLD and TARE and deeply resonate with each character’s respective struggles and flaws. Additionally, the tropes in both books work to make the storyline more compelling and enhance the reading experience. 

While I am sad knowing that there won’t be anymore books set in the same world, I absolutely CANNOT wait to read Armas’ new book “The Long Game” in September!!!

I needed new friends. ASAP.”

“And did you not say that your ex-boyfriend is the best man and thinking of standing in the vicinity of him, alone and lame and pathetically single—those were your words again—made you want to tear off your own skin?”

I had. I had said that.”

“At some point in the past, I would have thrown darts at a poster of his face.”

“Nothing to think about.” I cut my hand through the air between us. Then, I smiled my version of Rosie’s fake, toothy grin. “I’d take a chimpanzee dressed in a tuxedo before taking you.”

“Haven’t you watched any romantic comedies ever?” I watched the scowl deepen. “Not even The Wedding Date?”

No answer, just more of that arctic staring.

“Do you even watch movies? Or do you just … work?”

“I’d rather give up chocolate for a full year than admit to Aaron that he was right.”

“Lina: I have no idea what you mean. Is he waiting for something?

Lina: Something like a heart transplant? I heard he doesn’t have one.”

“He pointed at me with the pencil. “This? Seriously?”

I snagged it out of his hand. “It cheers me up.” I dropped it in the cup. “Does it offend your tastes, Mr. Robot?”

“I have no idea why you have this impulse to fly in with your red cape like a nerdy Clark Kent and save the day, but no, thanks. You might look a little like him, but I’m not a damsel in distress.”

The Spanish Love Deception

ANNOUNCEMENT: i go into every book knowing next to nothing. for this one, i know it is a romance book and there is smut.

DISCLAIMER: if your opinions on this book differ from mine, that is okay! everyone has different tastes in writing styles and storytelling. no hate no shade to those who’s views do not align with what i have said. no one is right or wrong for liking certain things because we all experience life differently!

RANT/REVIEW:as of writing this i am only at page 228, which is roughly half way through the book. I am going to finish this book however, these are my complaints so far.

- the main character isn’t given a huge physical description other than being hispanic

- the male love interest is also not given a huge physical description other than having blue eyes, being conventionally attractive, and big/large/tall

- both characters (so far) seem very one dimensional, with aaron (the male love interest) he is described as almost cold and reserved, whereas catalina/lina is described as loud and bubbly, both of them call the other stubborn multiple times

- the language the characters use to talk about the other is very repetitive, genuinely i am tired of catalina saying something about aaron’s ocean eyes, also the fact that they both call each other stubborn (i truly feel like that is on almost every page and im over it)

I would also like to mention that aaron is shown (and told to the reader) that he is a good listener. he brings up things that catalina feels as though he shouldn’t know or remember because when she was talking, it was not her talking to him. my complaint with this (and all the other things like it) is that we should be shown personality, not both shown and told.

on page 229 there are about 3 paragraphs describing spain. due to the fact that the first half of the book lacks descriptions of almost everything, three paragraphs to describe the ambiance of spain and how the seasons work and common misconceptions, threw me off. why now? why this late into the book to describe something in greater detail than anything before it?

OVERALL THOUGHTS: i straight up wish this book had just been page 229 on, after page 229 we get more context for why the main characters “don’t like each other” so it almost makes the first part of the book pointless. I also feel like this book was trying to be ali hazelwood esque but fell flat. there is the woman in stem plot line and while that can add more to a romance, in this book it just didn’t. there wasn’t enough talk about the engineering field for the characters to feel like they needed or were originally meant to be engineers. like to me it feels like that was thrown in last minute to “add more” to the story because overall there wasn’t much going on in the first half.
