hello, hello, hello ! i am late but i am here finally and i’m sorry it took me so long. below the cut you’ll find little write ups for each of my muses. wanted connections will be posted later but in the meantime please take this.

introducing henry king, a high profile director who flies out annually to the resort to spend his summer months relaxing with his wife and boyfriend at his side. 

he had a mostly stable childhood, one that was spent with two younger siblings in tow and a mother who was like a prototype of what a pinterest mom would be. his father spent a lot of time at work and it’s something that, while henry doesn’t begrudge him for it now, was frustrating as a child and not knowing why he wasn’t there. 

the first major thing that henry remembered his father attending was his junior year of high school when he was the student director for a one act production of snapshots, an anthology of short plays. his father, also a director, took the time to give him notes about the things that could have been done to tighten up the show. the last four words were i’m proud of you. that was the moment that henry decided that he wanted to be a director. 

fast forward to college and he goes to the goes to the university of southern california’s film school and instead of taking just the director classes, he takes the time to add a year and a half to his time in college and gets a screenwriting degree out of it. 

his first production partner was his father, who promised henry that he would fund one movie, from top to bottom, with the help of a production company that was owned by a close friend. henry wrote and directed the thing himself and, though it didn’t garner major awards, it was screened at sxsw. that was enough. 

let it be known that henry knows that his introduction into the world of filmmaking was super nepotistic. he understands that he had so many more advantages than any other person in his shoes, at his time, first starting to make movies when he did, and he was still terrified of failing. 

with the above, it should also be known that henry goes out of his way to make sure he’s telling stories that, while he has not experienced them, he can find the right people to help him tell it and amplify voices that otherwise might not be heard. not out of guilt or a need to make up for his introduction to the business, but out of an understanding that his platform should be used to reach every single person and not alienate. 

due to the stresses of his job and the level of scrutiny he’s constantly under, he’s well known to seem to abscond from the world as soon as his movies have come out for the summer. as a director of typically action packed, star studded films, he’s usually on his way to the resort by the second or third week of june. 

though he makes so many of these action packed blockbusters, he also tries to make sure that he makes movies that appeal to his soul and finds himself in the process of developing a high fantasy series that’s in the same line as the authorless harry potter books and lord of the rings. 

this is his second year at the resort and henry can see this honestly becoming an annual thing for himself, his wife, and his boyfriend to do. so many frustrations of his are squashed down throughout the year, not through anyone’s own fault, but just because there’s a lot of weight on one’s shoulders when billions of dollars sit on it every year. this is the place where his hedonistic tendencies shine through and he’s not particularly mad about it.

introducing alexandrea katherine conway née douglas, the wife of oliver conway and chief financial officer at the resort. they’ve been married for about two years.

she had a relatively happy childhood and comes from a line of claimants to a scottish duchy of hamilton. she’s the youngest of six children and does technically hold the title of lady but she’s never done anything with it and it’s more a funny story that she tells at parties than it is a serious thing she buys into because she always thought it was a family joke.

prior to coming to the resort, drea graduated from the wharton school of business double major in business and marketing. post graduation she spent a fair amount of time as a prominent social media influencer. her multi million follower platform has translated into some business for the resort in the form of some of their most consistent guests. 

at the time of marrying her husband, he offered for the resort to be something they shared in ownership and it sprung some little goblin in her head to deny his offer. she wanted to earn it and not marry into it. 

the joke in that, of course, is that when most people look at drea they see incredibly soft curves, the bright blonde hair, the fact that the most articles of clothing she owns are just bathing suits, swim cover ups, and the occasionally very beautifully form fitting dress, the word bimbo appears in their mind on repeat. other words come to mind, too, but that’s the one that drea finds comes up most often. 

if we’re being really honest, in the depths of her soul, there’s something that drea finds funny about it. there is a gift in being underestimated and who cared what their perceptions were ? her happiness with her husband and job did not rely on anyone but herself.

she has incredibly open sexual preferences but with a body like hers she favors worship and the kinds of things that don’t leave bruises unless they are loves bites. drea is a switch and is happy to lead or follow, though goddess remains either way, if you’re interested in having her.

introducing  elodie odeya bram, an international fashion designer who makes an annual pilgrimage to the island as part of her process of designing her next year’s summer line. she had a relatively 

elodie has always strived to make sure that her brand is inclusive to all sizes and genders. another facet of her brand is that her clothes are considered kosher as they are fully made from plant or animal fibers but not both. her interest in design first came in high school when she was helping to craft costumes for a play and things spiraled from there. 

she realized that it was her passion, she attended the parsons school for design, and graduated with an apprentice ship under another designer who had long since been an inspiration for her own work.

elodie’s first collection to make waves happened a few years ago, when she was thirty and her mentor had agreed to take six pieces and let a capsule collection of elodie’s creation as part of their slot in paris’ fashion week. her luck in this mentorship was not beyond her and her good fortune has been at the forefront of her mind for years. seldom is there a night where she does not thank her lucky stars for all the things that have happened and continue to happen.

her mentor, in opening so many doors, also opened the door to the resort and has brought her into the light of one of her favorite places of inspiration. as part of her stay in the villas, she does frequently sketch her own designs and occasionally, when she brings back women to spend time with her, she’ll dress some of them up in her newest designs to see how they’ll functionally work.  

she’s quite likely to pull together a collection of women she wants to spend time with and there’s almost always some kind of sexual activity happening in her villa. whether fellow guests or employees of the villa, elodie’s indiscriminate in any girl she flirts with and wants to make a move on and we stan her for it.

she grew up in a lovely home with a big family, her mother owning her own small business and her father a detective at the local precinct. solidly middle class, there was very little that penny craved or needed that she did not get. she took on a maternal role in her home, a natural adoption as the oldest of seven children, and she had a hand in their upbringing. while others may have seen that as a burden, it was something that penny enjoyed with her whole heart. 

when she went off to college, she applied to all of the ivy leagues and got a significant scholarship to columbia, which is where she met archibald hughes, son of a virginia senator and guy who she said, “you can’t sway my attention from my studies” to on their first day of meeting. she moved in with him in an off campus apartment their junior year of school. he was her greatest hype man and while they’d been having serious talks about marriage and their future. 

her relationship with archie ended rather abruptly when his paranoia hit an all time high at the behest of his father. insidious rumors, according to penny, accusations of things she’d promised archie long before that she would never do. her devotion to him was near unbreakable and archie had found the one straw that broke her back and everything came crumbling down: he put his trust in someone else. 

recently single, in need of a fresh start and a warm place to go for the summer, and on her summer break from law school, penny has been ready to engage in her first ever hoe phase and has already started it with some success. her ex has recently shown up on the property, though, and that’s made some of her more recent encounters awkward, to say the least, but she’s making it work.

introducing james sebastian “jamie” ibarra flores, known professionally as jamie flores. he makes a living as a drummer for the raptors, a band that has achieved critical success and have just wrapped up their first tour and the release of their first album. it was his idea to come to key passion in the first place and it honestly super tracks. 

he’s been with the raptors for about three years and prior to joining with them, he’d heard about the resort and promised himself when he had enough to comfortably afford to go after setting his parents up with making sure that their mortgage was paid for and it wouldn’t be the literally most financially irresponsible decision he’s ever made when there were other things and people to prioritize.

prior to coming to the island, though, did he drop like $3k on a girl’s amazon wishlist because he’s simpin’ real hard ? yes. can he afford to do it ? Yes. 

not particularly religious and verging on the edge of anarchist, jamie uses his platform to promote a lot of social issues and advocate for the reformation of most systems in the united states. he will not shut up when he talks about politics and one of his most used photos on his camera roll is a picture of his degree in political science from ucla. he’ll come at you with facts and an army of stans. 

though he’s typically a relaxed kind of person he’s under the belief that he’s Totally Chill and this is Not At All True. he constantly wants to know 103% of the drama without being directly involved but he’ll do it from his couch and creeping through stan twitter on a burner account so if he accidentally likes something, it doesn’t get back to the band. 

he loves ,,, reading fan fiction and reader imagines about himself.

The end of the year approaches and spirits are higher than usual among Dimensions management as they bring in competitive profits and find they have more negotiating power for year end shows and award ceremonies than they’re used to.

Dimensions Soloist 1

In the first week of the month, she brings an end to her world tour with its final concert in Paris. After that, she’ll return to Seoul to continue practicing for her comeback. Once she’s had her stage outfit fittings and been properly styled for the comeback, she’ll shoot the promo photos and film the music video. Her performance on the 12th will only include her already released music, but it will serve as a small teaser for her styling for her new song. Her comeback is scheduled for the end of the month where she’ll hold her showcase as usual. Since she only has a single to perform, she’ll also talk about what she learned from her recent tour and her hopes for next year to the press.

Dimensions Soloist 2

His first solo concerts last month were a success, so management is in the process of arranging a small fanmeeting tour for him in 2020 to reach out to his fan base outside of South Korea. In the meantime, he’ll be performing “20-Something” and b-side “La La” at the Asia Song Festival in Ulsan after a reward break from October 1 to October 10 where he’s allowed to travel out of the country if he pleases. At the end of the month, a dance practice for “La La” will be filmed for release in around a month as an end of the year gift to fans since he may not be attending as many award shows this year as last.

This month, Gal.actic films their second episode of Gal.actic Beauty School. Though they’re still in assigned teams, filming will begin with the members all meeting in one location and going bungee jumping, then going, still all together, out to eat barbecue with their team leaders (the model and the comedian). A week later, they’ll return to their objective to make their own cosmetic product by returning to “class” to learn how to make capsule cosmetics and make and present another cosmetic of their choice. After that, they’ll return to a practice room at the Dimensions building to film a general quiz with free cosmetics as prizes if the members give the same answer.

Alien

The first weekend of the month brings with it the start of the world tour with their Seoul concerts. Tickets sold out fast and the venue is packed, signaling their rising popularity and success. Later in the month, they spend a week touring through Japan. Dimensions only wants good press associated with the tour, so the time spent in between touring is pretty relaxed, save for practice to keep the show in perfect condition.

MARS

Despite not being one of Dimensions’ big international pushes, MARS’s comebacks this year have seemingly garnered them more interest from overseas, evidenced by an offer they get to appear in a series off YouTube videos aimed at Latin American fans. These videos, a series of four, will be filmed on two different days this month. On the first day, they’ll film a simple Q&A with their Latin fans and then will be challenged to choreograph a dance in teams in five minutes to a CNCO song. Team A (members listed below) will win the choreography challenge and get to try Guaraná soft drink and Renata cookies before giving a performance of “Callin’”. On the second filming day, they’ll be told they’re filming individual reactions to the music video for “Mi Gente” and be met with a Halloween-appropriate jump scare part way through. They’ll then do an actual reaction to the music video for a separate video.

The month of their long overdue Japanese comeback begins with the filming of two different MVs, the main promotional MV version and a version sponsored by KATE cosmetics, a Japanese beauty brand. The mini-album comes out near the end of the month after the group hosts a sold-out live showcase in Tokyo. Other schedules this month include performances in Jakarta, Busan, and Seoul. Awards season begins soon, which has management planning out performances, and word is the group will already start preparing for their first comeback of 2019 next month.

Unity

After this month’s tour dates, Unity has an extended break before they continue onto the Japanese leg of the world tour. Other than the traveling to and from Europe and Singapore, this month is a reprieve from the busy schedules the group has had since they began touring. That said, their time spent not touring is still not a break and members are expected to remain in a work mindset as they approach awards season and the final details of their attendance at award shows is negotiated. Word is, the members are likely to be receiving some long-awaited good news next month regarding their debt with the company.

Lucid

This is the final month of Lucid Look After Our Dog filming. The teams will each meet dogs for three new livestreams and missions. For the final episodes, each team will work at a dog-related business (a dog day care or a pet hospital), and the final livestream will be done altogether as one group in a Dimensions practice room and they’ll discuss their memories of filming (without spoiling too much). Team B will win episodes 7/8 and Team A will win episodes 9/10. The show will begin airing next month as part of a major variety push by the company before their December comeback. Part of this push will also include a group appearance on Immortal Songs 2 covering a first generation boy group song that will be rehearsed for and filmed this month. Comeback preparations also begin as soon as the month starts, with the members hearing the demos of their songs on the first day of the month. They’ll record early in the month and begin learning the choreography to the title track, “Rough”, and b-side “Luv Star”. A performance of b-side “Trust” will also be rehearsed, though it doesn’t have choreography.

The Crimson Demon and the Hercules Father

Decker: The standard pre-series focus episode. Starts by reminding of Trigger Truth's battle with Demonothor, then focuses on the new cast, showcasing Decker's forms, then Trigger and Tiga's battle against Kyrieloid, then focusing on Dyna, then showcase the members and Mecha of both incarnations of GUTS-Select and their supporters, and finally the Capsule Kaiju.

Revice: Before Masuji can actually henshin Vail knocks him down and uses the Tricera ViStamp on himself, Revi and Vice barely keep him from killing the elder scientist before Vail's body falls apart again. Hana lands, knocked down by Holy Live, the brothers stare eachother down before Daiji leaves. And injured Masumi stumbles away, while recalling helping George with experiments as a child, Heorge wonders what he was doing. Vail, still weakened is approached by Masumi, and realises the Tricera ViStamp was a trap, Masumi, producing a variant of the Rolling ViStamp, says it's time to settle everything. Vail refuses the Crimson ViStamp, even as Masumi apologises for bringing him into this world, but stops Vail from killing him by pointing it the chance tonsettle things with Junpei. Akaishi pathetically protests his body falling apart, Daiji sees this and leaves. Ikki, Vice and Sakura learn George is on the way to Happy Spa with the new Driver for Genta and want to st9p him, but Yukimi stops them, telling them their father is stronger than they think, changed by his parenthood. George arrives with the new equipment, the Vail Driver modified into the Destream Driver, and Ikki and Sakura bring it to Genta in a park from their childhood. They asks why he's so determined to face Vail, he explains aside from settling his own demons, he wants to help Daiji come back, and swears he has the whole "will die if Vail does" thing covered. Daiji gets a message from Genta about his plan to fight, and rejects Akaishi's attempt to treat him as a son. Genta and Yukimi eat, and Genta apologises for the fact his presence has kept her from a normal life, but she's having none of it. At the scene of the fight, George is surprised and suspicious when Vail arrives with Masumi, Daiji arrives, but then Akaishi angrily attacks, Revi and Vice fight him, and when Live pushes her aside when she tried to stop him joining, Sakura also joins as Jeanne to fight him. Genta promises his children are stronger than he. Vail transforms into Kamen Rider Crimson Vail, to George's annoyance but Masumi argues he needs to see this fight through, and using the Hercules ViStamp Genta becomes Kamen Rider Destream. They start fighting, while a Giffard Finish takes care of Akaishi, Jeanne defeats Live and tells him to at least watch their father's fight when he looks ready to attack Ikki again. Crimson Vail starts to overpower Destream, who uses the Ryuki themed Komodo Dragon ViStamps to produce a dragon blasting arm, then the Wizard themed Crocodile ViStamp to attack with tails from his back while armed with one on his arm, then Kong for two massive fists, as both are taken back to the night of the fire, before finally both prepare to end it. It's a close match, but Destream barely wins, and Vail starts dying, but Masumi calls out to Genta who, as they had of course planned, seals Vail in the Crimson ViStamp, before stamping himself with it, telling Vail to rest, having forgiven him, and reminding him that Shinanami Junpei is dead, his name of Igarashi Genta, which amuses Vail somewhat, promising not to forgive him. The fight over, Masumi acknowledges George's skill before dropping dead, and Genta goes to Daiji, telling him he can forgive himself. Ikki and Sakura ask Daiji to come back, but before he can take their hands, Giff himself appears.

Donbrothers: Murasame, in sword form, flies from it's tank, bid by the voice of it's mother to escape the Noto realm, dogning attacks and confusing Sonoi and Sonomi when passing them, before landing in the human realm, and sleeping. The team have a word with Taro about Jiro's actions, but he's against dismissing him from the Donbrothers, he later meets with Jiro, and when Jiro expresses his wish to be equal to Taro, is challenged to successfully hit him to do so, with a Batsu for each failure. Kijino happens to witness the second attempt, and so the others learn about it and decide to also try and strike Taro. Sononi approaches Inuzaka, reminding him he won their bet, ad offers to take him to Natsumi, he refuses, determined to find her himself, and is warned that he'll awaits if he takes that route. Kijino attempts to steal part of Taro's meal, Saruhara to snipe him with a paintball, Haruka attempts to use a boxing glove present disguised as cookies, but becomes guilty when Taro mentions it as the first time a woman has made something for him, and accidentally opens it on herself, immediately after Jiro attacks but Taro catches his sword. Sonoi approaches Taro, challenging him to help the most humans, but will help him with deliveries first. During this, a coordinated strike is countered as well. Mother bids Murasame awaken, absorbing electricity. The others, Jiro for the first time, meet Jin and ask for a weakness of Taro's, and are told to tell him Gii-chan the Kabutomushi is back, Taro's one childhood friend who flew away one day. It works, Taro desperately looking for him, and while they Aall go to attack they collectively realise they can't mid leap, and none of them want him to lose. They tell him the truth and apologise, right before Sonoi and Taro both notice Murasame, which knocks down the companions before then targeting Don Momotaro, before summoning a body in Don Murasame. Sonoi recognises him as he is bid to fight the Donbrothers, InuBrother being dragged to the battle, his abilities leave only Don Momotaro and Don Doragoku even close to handling him. He is ordered to Alter Change to Don Murasame Alter, they use their own Alter forms to hold him off until he retreats, leaving them confused, and Sonoi is concerned enough to out the contest on hold. Later Taro tries to help a woman with her shopping, and she, annoyed, succeeds in getting a hit on him.

The easiestway to get there is to follow the signs for Sunshine City – and there’s a lotof great shops on the way too! Too many restaurants and cafes to count, the SanrioGate specializing in Hello Kitty and friends, and even an ikemen café!! And abunny rabbit café, and cat cafes too.

It’s about aten minute walk from Ikebukuro station to Sunshine City (a GIANT departmentstore), which will be on your right. Beside Sunshine City is Tokyu Hands (greatstationary here) and Book Off.

Book Off isa second-hand book store and you can find AMAZING deals here. In terms ofInazuma merchandise, Book Off has: all the games (in Japanese, of course), allof the game guides, a lot of manga, drama CDs and normal CDSs, a huge magazinesection (I buy ALL my articles about Inazuma here, pretty sure I bought all theGO ones, sorry!). If you’re interested in art, they have some great art bookstoo. I also found gems such as the Inazuma character art books. Finally, theyalso have all of the Inazuma DVD box-sets. Everything except the DVDs is supercheap.

You’ll know it immediately because there’s a huge picture! Andeach section is marked by a picture of the character’s face, as well as theirname! So even if you don’t speak Japanese, this one is much easier to find whatyou want.

FINALLY, myfavorite store. KBooks again. The KBooks right beside Mandarake specializes insecond-hand merch – and THEY HAVE AN INAZUMA SECTION! Follow the artwork ofGenda and Sakuma. They have an amazing variety of Inazuma goods, including GO!I bought most of the Kirino stuff, hee hee. The prices depend on the character.Cheap characters are Sangoku, Kabeyama etc. Average characters are Kidou, Tenmaetc. Expensive characters are Fubuki, Kirino etc. Ridiculously expensive isKazemaru and Sakuma. There was zero Fudou or Aphrodi last time I checked.

NakanoBroadway – Nakano Station, Chuo Line

When I wentto Nakano Broadway two years ago, it was paradise for Inazuma goods, but I wentback this year at it was… not great. All the shops were closed down, BUT it wasa holiday so maybe that’s why.

NakanoBroadway is a much cheaper Akihabara. It specializes in retro-games and oldmanga, but you can find everything from Vocaloid to Pokemon to Inazuma! If you’reinto figures, this is the cheapest place. I found a Kirino figure here!

Look for theshops filled with ‘bishounen’ merchandise – there’s usually an Inazuma section.I found clear files, towels, postcards, keyrings, stickers, mugs, towels… A lot ofpractical merch here for Inazuma, all second hand so CHEAP!

Akihabara(Yamanote Line, Chuo Line)

Akihabara is…Very, very loud and not great. It’s aimed mostly at guys, so there’s a looootof boobs.

If you wantto see Akihabara for the experience, there are a few interesting things. There’sa chubby maid café, which was super cute, and if you’re into it there’s across-dressing boy café. Cute boys in dresses. YAY.

There’s onlyone shop that sells Inazuma stuff (though that might change when Ares isreleased). Mandarake, the fourth floor has a tiny Inazuma doujin section.

Oh God, thiswas so long. If I can make a picture guide, I will! Hopefully I’ll go back toTokyo sometime next year.

As for Tokyoto Hokkaido – you have a few options, but unfortunately it’s not cheap. I’mgoing to assume you’re aiming for the capital city, Sapporo? They have anAnimate, but it’s probably not as good as Tokyo… That said, I LOVE Hokkaido.The food is delicious, and the people are very friendly. Although… the same inTokyo…

In my work as an interior designer, I’ve seen some real bathroom doozys. I’ve seen bathrooms time capsules from 1960s complete with wall to wall carpet – is there anything more gross? I’ve seen impossibly small bathrooms where you can shower, brush your teeth and do a number two all at the same time. I’ve seen one of the earliest bathrooms to be built inside a house at the grand Como House in South Yarra, it was completely charming and fascinating. I’ve seen everything from 1930s pastel coloured pedestal basins, to bright orange tiles of the seventies, blue toilets of the eighties and dolphin border tiles of the nineties. And of course, the ‘timeless’ beige on beige large format tiles from the noughties, yawn.

Bathrooms are expensive rooms in the house and like everything, in retrospect they will always bear the hallmarks of the time they were created. As new products come into the market, from water efficient tapware to Japanese toilets, my tip is to forget striving for ‘timeless’. You may find yourself with a dreadfully boring space. Live in the now and embrace gorgeous new products and ideas of what a bathroom can be. Think about how you want the space to make you feel.

If you are looking to renovate or build, here are some current ideas, and where we see the future of bathrooms heading.

Thinking About Space

The humble bathroom has evolved substantially over the years. Not only has the ‘look’ evolved, but the number of bathrooms, and where they are located has also shifted. The bathroom is now a space designed to enhance the daily ritual of bathing – a space for relaxation.

Sculptural freestanding baths can be incorporated into master bedrooms to bring serene day-spa vibes into the home. This idea of incorporating the ensuite into the bedroom isn’t brand new, and when done right, creates a lux ‘hotel’ vibe at home. However I’d recommend considering if this kind of thing is really suited to your everyday life. I’ve encountered bathrooms where a clear glass wall is all that separates the toilet from the bedside table. And this folks, is the end of romance.

Instead, consider the bathroom as an additional room in the house, as Alexander Design created in their Los Angeles project (pictured above). This spacious bathroom demonstrates just how incredible an unconventional bathroom can be when it’s treated almost as a living space. It also forgoes a single tile and instead embraces the raw materials inherent to the building.

In another example, Hecker Guthrie has masterfully designed a bathroom and master bedroom with a glass wall with the inclusion of an essential curtain (the toilet is out of view!). The spatial planning of a bathroom like this is very important.

Add Colour

Before you freak out, we’re not talking about bright colours here. But rather than having the neutral, bathroom identical to your neighbours, consider injecting your own personality by using colour – the effect is instant.

The word ‘trend’ implies that an idea appeals to the masses, however using colour in bathrooms is almost an ‘anti-trend’, as so many of us are afraid of it in Australia.

If you’re thinking about giving this a try, you will find some absolutely gorgeous tiles on the market, the hard part is choosing. Use the tiles all over every wall, and avoid the ‘feature wall’, as too many different surfaces in the room can look overly complicated. Studio Ezra uses gorgeous colours in their designs to beautiful effect. Take a note on how they use one colour all over the walls and even the floors. The less materials used, the calmer the space feels.

A fabulous way to bring colour into the bathroom is with a vanity basin. Anyone that has been to the Milan Furniture Fair will have seen vanity basins ranging in colour from soft green and blue and a palette of neutrals. You can see a range at Design Precinct and Roger Seller, I promise they don’t look as crazy as they sound.

The Floating Vanity

Raw Naturals

There is nothing quite like authentic materials. By this I mean real marble, stone and timber – not faux marble or timber-look porcelain tiles.

The innate beauty of natural materials will sway us to choose them even if they require a higher level of maintenance, and eat large chunks into our budget.

Luxurious natural stone presents a vast range of options in a bathroom, and we see it used in endless ways. From a basin carved out of solid stone to marble tapware, it seems that stone is more than a passing trend.

Large slabs of marble can clad entire showers for an opulent effect, or be used as a vanity top for a touch of luxury – just remember to keep the Shower Power away.

Try Pattern

It’s been so wonderful to see the use of pattern emerge in bathrooms in recent years. Patterned tiles bring a space to life and add so much personality. Cement encaustic tiles are available in an array of styles, from ornate patterns to suit traditional spaces, through to bold geometric patterns.

We are also seeing gorgeous patterned wallpaper used in powder rooms. These small spaces can be filled with an intense pattern, making for a pleasant surprise for guests paying a quick visit.

Black Steel Makes An Appearance

Quite simply, we’re obsessed about black fine steel profiles.

For a while there, frameless shower screens were the epitome of bathroom chic. But then… the black steel frame came along and we’re totally hooked.

You’ll find black steel legs on vanities (when they’re not wall mounted) or black steel framing mirrors. Paired with matte black tapware and you won’t look back!

This bathroom by Carole Whiting Interiors features various surfaces expertly combined so that it doesn’t look too busy. Tile Layouts

A combination of large format and small tiles are often used together in bathrooms. Lately, we’ve been seeing large format tiles on the floor and halfway up the walls, with the small tiles used from halfway up the wall to the ceiling.

Alternatively (and boldly), you can use small tiles on entire walls. If mosaics are a bit too expensive (as they often are) consider just using them on the vanity wall for impact – the vanity and mirror will cover most of the wall, meaning less tiles will be needed. Whatever you do, avoid using mosaics in niches only or as feature strips, as this look is dated and the effect of the mosaics aren’t fully appreciated.

Do’s and Don’ts

Shower Niches: Don’t tile shower niches is a feature tile that is different to the surrounding wall. This highlights the shampoo stuff in the niche, which isn’t really a feature. Instead use the same tile as the wall into the niche.

Sight-lines:  Plan the bathroom so that when one enters the room, the vanity is in view, and keep the toilet tucked away.

Selecting surfaces:  Make sure that you are aware of the maintenance required with the surfaces you select. Strong cleaning products can eat away at porous materials such as stone, cement encaustic tiles and terrazzo. Consider if caring for the stone will suit your lifestyle. Talk to the tile or stone supplier and get advice on the slip resistance in areas such as the shower.

Lighting:  The best lighting in a bathroom should be a wall mounted light beside the mirror so that we can see our faces when applying make-up or shaving. Avoid the downlight over head, it causes shadows and is really annoying. Lighting should be layered so that you have a soft dimmable light for night time visits, a bright overall light and task lighting at the vanity.

Own it:  Design your bathroom to suit your lifestyle and taste. If you’re not planning to sell the property in the next 12 months then design the bathroom you, not for someone that you don’t know and try to guess their tastes.

Hotel Series – Different Types of Hotels Save more with Innlinkr

Hotels are places that provide accommodation and other services to people who want a place to stay temporarily. These places have different services and charge accordingly. They range from a small bed and breakfast to posh hotels which have facilities like spa, swimming pool and so on. Hotels are of different kinds and some of these stand out due to their unique features.

Some hotels are constructed by using trees. These are generally for nature lovers and are often found in sanctuaries. A very good example of the tree house hotel is the Costa Rica Tree House which is located in Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge in Costa Rica. Some of them are transformed into one from a nuclear bunker. The Null Stern Hotel in Teufen in Appenzellerland in Switzerland is example of such a hotel. Some of them were made in caves. They generally have rooms under the ground which is built using modern technologies. From outside it mostly looks like entering a cave. Example of such cave places are The Cuevas Pedro Antonio de Alarcón in Guadix in Spain.

There is also something called a capsule hotel. This is generally found in Japan. In these hotels people sleep in the same room in different stacks. There are hotels that are made of ice. These hotels generally melt a little during the summer and spring season and are built again. The Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi in Sweden is a very good example of an ice hotel. Garden Hotels are hotels which are known due to their extraordinarily beautiful gardens. These make a very picturesque hotel. Gravetye Manor is one that is known for its breathtaking rose garden.

Due to the modern technologies people have also come up with underwater hotels. These have rooms which are under the water and people can see the water life all around them.
