#the sketch was NOT supposed to be the lineart

Since some time has passed since I posted this video (go watch it i you haven't seen it already, I worked really hard on it), here are some fun facts about the making of it:

Originally this was going to be a valentine's special, but I could only get the first 15 seconds done and then I forgot about it until Signaliscord announced the contest.

I managed this project as if there were three sepparatte parts:

The first one (colored characters with black bg), which I worked on at home

The second one (black and white with red bg) which I did at work when I had free time

And the one you only see in the storyboard, that I was only going to be added if I had enough time (I didn't), I was going to look like Ariane's drawings. The logistic behind this is that If didn't have time to finish the entirety of it, I could just send the part I had worked on the most, since they stand pretty well by themselves.

The messy/scribbly aesthetic was thought as a way to give me a better chance to finish it, since clear lineart takes me too long to do. In fact, most of the frames were made without sketching, which is why the anatomy is wonky on some parts and details are inconsistent.

The part with silhouettes was improvised. That was supposed to be Elster and Ariane running towards each other, but I didn't have enough time for that.

The ending was going to be different, but I changed it because it felt too tragic, even for my standars 😅. The song ended at the line "when both our cars collide", where Elster with her normal color palette would end in the current Ariane room, sobbing while a geiger counter would go off in the background. Kinda like this:

And later on died lying there.

...So yeah, summarized, the whole project is a "Trust the process" type of thing.

For a future group beach drawing- I first had to design everyone's outfits.

They're both from the late 2000s so I didn't have to pay too much mind to dating the styles.

Crystal - I knew immediately I wanted to put her in a wrap around tie bikini with beads and lots of layered jewelry. I knew she had to to be put in purple. Crystal also bought matching beach bags for her, Edwin and Monty. (I say retconning the fact I didn't want to draw multiple bags)

Niko- I wanted to put her in something with long sleeves and cutouts. I couldn't make my mind up on colors, I was torn between pink, pale green and yellow.
