I know the girlies found that blonde twincest shit hot (can't relate, though I do love Gracie and did like Tatum) but you simply aren't here for Leighton and her growth if you're mad about her not being with someone who represented the worst parts of herself. Tatum was a mirror in more ways than one and Leighton didn't like what she saw staring back.

This was perfect. This was about character development.

Everything about Leighton's story so far and Alicia and Tatum's parts in it has made sense, and I will never not show appreciation for queer characters -especially lesbians- being written with care.

Thank you, writers. This has been wonderful. She's wonderful.

Note: while this breakup didn't come out of nowhere, in my opinion, and should have been completely expected, I will concede that all that happened with Leighton in the last episode would've been better fleshed out over a few episodes. This issue with pacing could be bad writing, but I honestly haven't seen a show worth watching these last few years that hasn't struggled with pacing these short ass seasons.

They way they do relationships on TSLOCG is just…bad. It reminds of when you use to play barbies as a kid and you rush them into a relationship and then get bored and start a whole new story. Where’s the development? Where’s the payoff? From season one, I thought Kimberly and Canaan would be interesting as a pair but the way they rushed it in the last two episodes made it feel so shallow and disappointing. Also they set up Bela and Eric so well at the end of last season then rushed them together this season just to totally demolish them the next second?? The pacing in this show needs some serious work because it doesn’t even give you a second to get invested in these relationships so that the payoff - wether good or bad - makes any kind of impact. Season one was paced so much better than this one and still felt like the first season was a bit fast.

whitney checking out a man who has been nothing but judgmental and rude to her for what??? IT LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE! he has been disrespecting bela and whitney from day one but oh my god he works out??? it’s so bullshit and literally from any perspective it makes no sense. yes whitney got dumped by canaan but does she really have to rebound with such an asshole 😭

and bela oh my GOD!!! i thought she learned from season 1 that sleeping/providing men with sexual acts does not do her any good. why is she 1) ruining her new relationship with eric and 2) sleeping her way to the top AGAIN! i know bela has a tendency to be overly ambitious and not learn from her mistakes but it’s just so upsetting to see her do this. tbh if this is what she has to do to get a career in comedy, she does not deserve it. i would’ve preferred to see her put in actual work for a change and see some character development but all we’re getting is character regression. also all of her bitchy comments towards dana were ugly.

even though i hate leighton’s story line right now, it makes sense for her. she does love herself a lot. i do miss relationship leighton though rip.

Okay, so I was watching The sex lives of college girls season 2 and I just have one thing to complain. Why didn't Whitney wear a lab coat in the lab??? This is like, number 1 rule of being in a lab. Also, she brought food and drinks to the lab??? I work in a microbiology lab and we can't even drink water inside the lab, we have to take off our lab coats and go outside.

DEADLINE: Let’s start with Leighton. I’m sure there will be mixed reactions to her reigniting things with Alicia, but I really loved it for her. Why did you decide that was where she should land at the end of Season 2?

JUSTIN NOBLE: I think we start Season 2 with her doing the thing that she couldn’t quite do in Season 1. She comes out to all these people, and that opens the door to a hallway full of other doors of comedy opportunities for her. Do a lot of people who just come out after a closeted stint have a pretty promiscuous phase? Yes, they do. So she does that. Do a lot of those people then get STIs? Mhm. So that happens. Then my own personal favorite, which is like dating your twin, the doppelbanger, which I feel like I’ve just seen so many friends do and it’s like one of them leaves the brunch table and you’re like, ‘Is anyone gonna point out that they’re identical?’ But the goal for the season was to introduce Tatum in that light, episodic comedy love interest vibe, like we would see on a show like a Sex in the City or something, but then to have it surprisingly evolve into more depth. The interesting flip on it is that there was more there than we ever would have guessed when we first met them. When they first met, Leighton’s desire for her felt so superficial. It culminates in this moment that I really love with her dad, sitting outside that restaurant saying, ‘I really liked this girl for you.’ For Leighton, who’s just come out to her dad moments earlier, her dad saying that to her has to have a profound effect on her. It solidifies that she had probably been thinking that too. I think she really fell for Tatum and felt that there was something there. Gracie’s performance as Tatum is just so flawless. She just matches Reneé every step of the way. But Reneé and Midori were fantastic in Season 1. I loved every scene between them, but there was this one roadblock between them which was that Leighton wasn’t out. For Alicia, that was a line in the sand. I think both of them had really good points on why they just couldn’t be together that I think we should respect, and halfway through Season 2, those boundaries are gone, but I think we’re so wrapped up in Tatum that we don’t really remember that the boundary with Alicia is gone. So we reintroduce Alicia because there’s nothing really holding her back anymore. She has most certainly heard about Leighton’s journey through campus, and there was something there that was undeniable. So Leighton has to choose, and I think seeing a reflection of a part of her personality in Tatum was enough for her to see, ‘Maybe this isn’t the right choice for me'.

DEADLINE: I’m glad you brought that up. Leighton telling Tatum that she saw parts of herself in Tatum that she didn’t like was pretty brutal, but also felt like a moment of needed self reflection.

NOBLE: I love that line. I remember laboring over that line. The network called it out at the table read, and I was like ‘Great. It works.’ But I do think it’s true, and I think it hints at the backbone of the show, which is that these girls are 18 and 19 years old and they’re finding themselves. I think it shows incredible self awareness for Leighton that she says that out loud.

I like the way Kimberly's relationship with Jackson(? I'm really bad with the names of the new guys y'all)has been developing so far. I'm kinda curious if the whole egg donation will come up again, like will Kim spend the rest of college donating? Will this affect her relationship with J. Will her parents find out??

Leighton my beloved, 💗 that's it. Like what else there's to comment I like how lil by lil she is growing Tatum and her are so gooooood and well it's going to be interesting to see Alicia back but I feel there's no competition after 'there's no timeline for coming out'

It was an interesting development the whole fallout between Eric and Bela, yet I'm still mad we don't know much about how Bela's magazine is going. I was scared they were going to do a whole storyline like the one with Devi and Aneesa one side competition bc Priya was labelled as hotter but I glad it didn't go that way. Hope for S3 she shows up

Whitney x Canaan pls come back to me, I don't really feeling it with Andrew(?sorry! Idk what it is but I don't feel it flowing. I loved the scene with her mum 💜

Genuinely it made me so happy to watch TSLOCG. I missed the girls and the fun college antics so much. I'll miss Leighton terribly, but her storyline is ending exactly how I thought it would. I wish all the episodes came out so I could binge them like Never Have I Ever (btw I miss that show)

the fact that alicia only hit leighton up again after she heard she came out makes me fucking hate her and tatum was so chill when leighton wasn’t out to her dad “there’s no timeline on coming out” she was superior on that front she just was 🤷‍♀️
