I've been trying to avoid getting to invested in ZZZ for a couple of reasons, but the new Gamescom trailer is looking kinda fresh (ʘᴗʘ✿)

Top 5 Games of E3 2018
Tumblr media
Another E3 come and gone, too fast for my blood, I’m not even done listening to the mountains of podcasts and streams from the show floor! Doubt I will be another solid week even.  I’ve seen conflicting thoughts of how this E3 was but I personally thought it was pretty cool.  It took a lot of thinking and a lot of hype processed, but here’s my top 5 games I’m personally most excited for from this years E3.
5. Control
Tumblr media
This one is brief by grace of us knowing so little about it, but come on people, a new game from Remedy?  Even knowing basically nothing about it other than “crazy men in black style facility in the throes of supernatural chaos” I’m ridiculously amped to play this game.  Remedy has proven they can do supernatural chaos in Alan Wake, and solid third person action with a twist in Quantum Break, so I think Control could very well shape up to be a bigger hit than any of us realize.
4. Fallout 76
Tumblr media
Fallout 76 sounds like a recipe for disaster to me on a base level, online only gameplay? no NPC’s of any kind? PVP focused nuclear bombs just begging for exploitation via greifers? It’s even got my least favorite video game thing of all time, hunger and thirst meters!  Under all that junk and dumb video game trend detritus however is an extremely tantalizing thought: Fallout with my friends.  I can ignore any amount of terrible systems and online only bullcrap if it means I can explore a brand new, handcrafted, Fallout environment with my friends online, and I’m not even usually the biggest fan of online games to begin with!
3. Cyberpunk 2077
Tumblr media
I assure you, the only reason this isn’t number one is that outside of the press, we didn’t actually get to see any gameplay of this title.  CD Projekt Red made one of my all time favorite games in The Witcher 3, even going so far as to turn me into a fan of The Witcher overall when I had previously tried and couldn’t stand the first two games.  The world presented by the trailer we saw at the Microsoft conference definitely inspired some confidence however.  A lot of it actually, in a breif two minute or so trailer I came away with an extremely strong sense of this games universe, and it’s one I genuinely can’t wait to be fully immersed in for a couple months of my life.
2. Assassins Creed: Odyssey
Tumblr media
I was a huge fan of Assassins Creed Origins, I know some people thought it took a bit too far into the action RPG side of games but I argue it didn’t take it far enough and I’m thrilled to see Odyssey pushing the franchise even farther in that direction.  Dialogue selections, deeper combat, multiple playable characters (one of them basically being Xena Warrior Princess, which, holy shit yes) and even romance options are all a first for the franchise in this next game, as is the setting of Ancient Greece, a very cool time to explore if you ask me.  One of the things Origins did so well was teaching you something about the time it took place in through attention to detail alone, to the point where eventually it got a museum mode, I can only hope this new AC:O can give us more of that in addition to our traditional sneaking and stabbing.
1. Gears 5
Tumblr media
I’m a huge fan of the Gears of War games, from the first one that wowed me with the incredible graphics and gameplay of the “next gen” of consoles, both of which conveintly distracted us all from some of the worst writing in video games and a truly terrible final boss.  The series grew into itself well over future entires, eventually arriving at a series full of great characters, an interesting world and intriguing backstories all around.  I was a huge fan of Gears of War 4, though I was constantly nagged by the feeling that this game really felt like Kaits story with the Fenix family tagging along.  I’m thrilled to see it’s her story getting the proper focus this time, especially with her as the lead playable character.  I’m also very excited at the thought this new entry will be exploring her connection to the Locust royal family, because that plot has been frustratingly vague for a very long time.
Honorable Mentions:
Bethesda’s conference was on fire with stuff that looked right up my alley, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least mention DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein:Youngblood and Rage 2, all three being games I simply can’t miss.  Sony’s confusing showcase was at least tempered by the fact that Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima both look like they’re coming along incredibly nicely, in addition to Spider-Man which looks damn near perfect as a superhero game.  Even though I think it looks a little too much like the last one, I’m thrilled for Smash Bros Ultimate and the long awaited return of Snake, the canon best character in the franchise.  And let’s not forget when EA uh.....showed up?  Can’t wait for next year already!
