24 Hours with John Mark Sharpe
During the holiday season, a typical day for John Mark Sharpe involves decorating private homes for Christmas, ordering product, and…talking about himself. “I’ve been working with some clients for six, eight, ten years now, so we’ve built up relationships, and while I’m decorating their trees or mantels they ask me about what I’m up to, how the business is doing, what’s next,” he says. Recently, we followed along with the Memphis, Tennessee-based Sharpe, who owns two floral and gift retail stores, a warehouse, and a thriving floral design business, for 24 hours of installing holiday décor, meeting with brides, and fashioning bows

EDITOR PICKS: MEMPHIS & OXFORD | How do you make the most of a visit to Memphis, Tennessee, and Oxford, Mississippi? According to @tsgmemphisoxford editor/owner Stephanie Stephens, “My hometown of Memphis is as friendly as it is full of grit. Things are always changing for the better, and I know it has to do with the passionate people who reside here. @southmainmem Trolley Nights are a favorite of mine because the stores and restaurant doors are wide open with sales, specials, and celebrations. Outside vendors, including local artists and food trucks, join in on the fun! End the night at @hu.hotel for a drink on the roof with a magnificent view of the river and Hernando de Soto Bridge—a picture-perfect setting. To finish the weekend, wake up and make the hour-plus drive to @pleinairtaylorms where you will get that small-town community feel and have the most comfortable stay. Caffeinate yourself at @lostdog, then head to the Oxford square for some retail therapy at @cicada. Having Oxford so close to Memphis is extra special because both towns are very welcoming and will give you a completely different experience. I say, if you visit Memphis, you must see a glimpse of Mississippi, too.” Find more ways to connect with Stephanie and @tsgmemphis here: https://thescoutguide.com/memphis-oxford/editors/

Eagle can incorporate many of your home’s security features, from lights to locks, into a system which will automatically make your home more secure, even when you’re not there. Volume 6: The Celebrations!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been one month since The Scout Guide Memphis & Oxford, Volume 6 made its debut, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone who came out to celebrate the guide at both launch parties in Memphis & Oxford. The launch party is always a great way to kick of the new scouted year-- the businesses in the guide are able to gather together, collaborate, and share the joy of being a business owner in the community. Thank you to these scouted members who made the parties as perfect as ever.

Elizabeth Looney Photography beautifully captured the details and people of our Memphis celebration that took place at Old Dominick Distillery. Luckily, we had Shindigs by Sheril help coordinate the event— creating a night to remember!
Tumblr media
The night began with a picturesque balloon entrance by John Mark Enterprises, giving the party-goers a first glimpse of what the Volume 6 cover color is (Pantone Color Process Blue U to be exact!!)
Tumblr media
Not only was the party held at Old Dominick, but the cocktails using their Hot Toddy and Memphis Vodka hit the spot! They also hosted a Bourbon tasting station where party-goers could try the different types of bourbon distilled right there at the distillery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The food, provided by Sweet Magnolia Catering, was PHENOMENAL. Shrimp & Grits, a beautiful charcuterie spread, and mini loaded potato bites were among some of the delicious Hors d’oeuvres served.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We especially love how John Mark Enterprises placed the florals with Volume 6 and at the book bar, which is where guests could take home guides from all different cities. It is so fun browsing through other city guides-- inspiring us to plan a trip somewhere new!
Tumblr media
The cookies by The Cookie Canvas Mississippi are beautiful and delicious! They were the perfect party favor to end the night.
Tumblr media
Keeping the party going in Oxford....
Tumblr media
A week after the Memphis launch, we headed down south to Oxford to celebrate Volume 6 at Lost Dog Coffee at Plein Air. Taylor Square Photography captured this fun event!
Tumblr media
The Scout Guide Jackson & Hattiesburg Owner/Editor, Caroline King, joined in on the fun! It’s always great celebrating with other editors.
Tumblr media
John Mark Enterprises provided the plans for this party as well and went with a more rustic & “outdoorsy” vibe, as compared to the Memphis celebration. The fall plants set the perfect tone!
Tumblr media
The food, provided by A&N Catering of Grit Restaurant, was perfect. We all loved it so much that we hopped next door to try the dinner menu at Grit!
