There used to be an ad that said an engagement ring should be two months' salary. If he made $6M for Loki (just a guess, but seems pretty reasonable considering his length of time as the character, salary for the last few movies, EP role, etc), then 2 months salary for 2020 is... $1M.
I wouldn't be surprised if he spent a million on it because isn't that like £750k and that ring looks like it could've cost that easily. Can't afford the ring...right and Odin wins father of the year....
Just a quick note - Katy Perry's engagement ring from Orlando Bloom (slightly higher net worth, but not much) is estimated at between $500K-$2M.

elsewhere on the internet: Nonprofit AF
@NonprofitAF is hilarious and honest and actionable. For example, go sign the charitystimulus.org (if you are a funder or nonprofit) or charitystimulusnow.org (the rest of us) petitions to get Congress to enact legislation requiring foundations to double their annual payout rate.
It’s been more than a minute since I last worked in the nonprofit sector in a formal capacity, but hooboy did Vu Le’s posts ring true.
From 2021:
20 subtle ways white supremacy manifests in nonprofit and philanthropy https://nonprofitaf.com/2021/06/20-subtle-ways-white-supremacy-manifests-in-nonprofit-and-philanthropy/
Your foundation hasn’t examined where its resources came from—possibly from slavery, stolen Indigenous land, or other injustices—that’s white supremacy You lean heavily on data and metrics while failing to understand that so many of these concepts stem from elite white institutions; that’s white supremacy
Answers on grant reports if nonprofits were brutally honest with funders https://nonprofitaf.com/2021/03/answers-on-grant-reports-if-nonprofits-were-brutally-honest-with-funders/
What are some critical lessons you learned? We learned several important lessons, including that it is crucial to get community input and ownership before launching new programs, cultural dynamics affect everything, and that if you don’t take care of mice problems, it may lead to rattlesnake problems when the office is empty for months at a time. But the main lesson we learned is that we’re all exhausted and this system is untenable and rich people should stop putting money into wealth-hoarding vehicles and just pay their taxes. What are your program priorities for the next period? Our main priority is to ensure that this program remains running. It’s been touch-and-go. Maria, who has been the instrumental program lead, is seriously considering resigning because we don’t have enough funding to pay her what she’s worth. If she leaves, it will cause a severe chain reaction that may cause the implosion of the program. A lot is riding on this $50 gift certificate for food delivery and a virtual thank-you note signed by the rest of the staff and board.
We need the rethink the concept of mission creep. https://nonprofitaf.com/2021/08/we-need-to-rethink-the-concept-of-mission-creep/#more-7397
Many organizations led by communities of color and other marginalized communities don’t have the luxury to focus on one thing. What may seem like mission creep is just us responding to interconnected needs our constituents have indicated we should focus on. Funders and donors’ not understanding these dynamics may be a reason why it continues to be so difficult for grassroots, culturally-focused organizations to get funding for their vital work that no one else could do as effectively.
Stop saying that 80% of nonprofit funding comes from individual donors, it’s misleading https://nonprofitaf.com/2021/09/stop-saying-that-80-of-nonprofit-funding-comes-from-individual-donors-its-misleading/
Third Space Studio’s research of orgs under 2M in budget size, for example, reveal that among 155 orgs surveyed in 2016, only 36% of their revenues on average come from individuals (In 2015, it was 34%. You can download the report here). This nonprofit economic impact report by CalNonprofits, meanwhile, shows that government dollars count for nearly HALF the revenues of nonprofits in California; and when large institutions are removed from the calculations, individual donations account for only 16% of revenues! Here’s even more recent data that show that only 13% come from individuals. Clearly individual donations do not come anywhere near the 70% or 80% that’s touted by fundraising experts for decades.

Characters - Sawamura Daichi x Fem!Reader
Summary - Lockdown had really affected your social life and daily routine, luckily a certain someone was willing to help you get your life back to somewhat normal. What will happen when you start catching feelings?
Genre - Fluff
Warnings - Slight mentions of anxiety
Word Count - 2.3k
A/N - Back again with another Daichi fic! Are you surprised, probably not i got a one man mind lmao. This one isn’t as long as the last but still as fluffy, hopefully you enjoy reading it :) p.s. this was almost called Toothpaste I blame Jas👀
Covid-19 had really flipped your year in a completely different direction to what you were expecting. You started the year hoping to finish your last year of high-school on a high, helping the volleyball team get to nationals and getting into university. However, the world clearly had a different plan for you, when the virus first started you didn’t think much of it. Why would you? It was only when the announcement came that the country was going into lockdown that your brain finally registered what was actually happening. Being the slightly more extroverted individual you thrived off seeing your friends, plus both your parents worked as nurses. You were going to be alone.
The first few weeks went by pretty fast, managing to keep up a routine by going out for runs and making yourself eat at certain times. Even keeping in touch with your friends from the boys volleyball team as well as Kiyoko, one of your closest friends. However, after this fairly stable period you had a really bad day. Nothing went your way, blender… broken, guess you weren't having a smoothie this morning. After that frustrating incident Tanaka and Noya decided to start poking fun at you in the group chat, which you were NOT in the mood for. Group chat… Muted. It was also raining extremely heavy so you decided maybe a well deserved rest day was in order, throwing on the TV you flopped down on the couch to start your film marathon.
5am. That was the time it was when you finally passed out on the couch. How did you end up staying up that late, Harry Potter. Why you thought it was a good idea to start watching the films you don’t know, but you managed to watch them all, all 19 hours of them. That was all it took to mess your routine up for the next month, not waking up till 2-3pm everyday just to lounge around. Barely keeping in touch with anyone, you hadn’t talked in the groupchat for close to 3 weeks, hardly even thinking about eating anything but snacks.
Luckily you had a saving grace, Daichi. After going MIA , the third year’s started to get worried about you, especially Kiyoko. She had dmed you multiple times and got nothing in return, mainly because you saw the messages but forgot to reply. You were a whole ass mess to put it plainly.
~ 3rd Years Group Chat ~
Kiyoko - I’m worried about [y/n]...
Suga - Tell me about it, she hasn’t been in the chat for weeks
Daichi - Have you tried dming her?
Kiyoko - She is ignoring me, she hasn’t replied to one of my messages
Asahi - Maybe she’s just busy?
Daichi - In the middle of lockdown…
Suga - Yeah thats unlikely
Kiyoko - Can one of you dm her as well? I just want to make sure she’s ok?
Daichi - I can... i’ll let you know if she replies and if she doesn’t Asahi or Suga can try
Having received a concerned message from Daichi, you realised how much you had lost track of everything and anything. Replying to both him and Kiyoko apologising and explaining you had just forgotten to press send. Although Daichi wanted to believe that was the case he couldn’t, instead of being upfront about it though he started messaging you throughout the day. Just small things asking if you had eaten and if you were staying hydrated, little did he know that this helped you get back into a better rhythm of lockdown life.
You slowly fixed your sleep schedule and got back to eating 3 meals a day. Although you hadn’t managed to get back into running, your talks with Daichi slowly got more frequent and for longer periods of time. The more you talked to him the more motivated you started to feel, eventually you got back into your running routine. It no longer became the odd message to make sure you were eating, but full day conversations about anything you could think of. Eventually you started relying on talking to him to cure your lockdown loneliness, a day without talking to him was not a good day for you. Daichi being the fairly observant person that he is, started to realise and eventually bought it up.
Daichi :) - Hey [y/n], I've been meaning to bring something up with you, you mind if we call?
[y/n] - Yeah sure Dai, just call me whenever i don’t exactly have anything going on
Receiving this was like a bullet to the chest, worrying what it could be about you pulled your knees up to your chest steadying your breathing. As you were lost in your head, your phone started ringing. Answering it you heard his voice for the first time in close to 3 months, it was music to your ears. Slowly over these 2 months you had grown fond of the boy, but you had quickly dismissed the idea of anything forming between each other. Both having different priorities in life, being scared of rejection also didn’t help.
After an hour and a half of deep conversation, a couple tears shed but more laughter at the end. You collapsed backwards onto your bed, he had found out everything. How your parents were barely home, always doing long shifts at the hospital, how you felt like you had no one during those 3 weeks you were MIA. Most importantly though you had confessed that talking to him was like receiving a warm hug. It's exactly what you needed at this time, obviously you would love an actual hug as well but that's pretty hard from a 2m distance.
~ 1 week later ~
Your eyes went wide as they announced on the news that lockdown was starting to be lifted, you were now allowed to meet up with people outside at a safe distance. Smiling you quickly messaged Daichi telling him how excited you were that restrictions were finally being lifted.
Daichi :) - That's Great [y/n]!! So.. you fancy going on a socially distanced pic-nic tomorrow? Don’t worry about bringing anything but yourself. I got the rest covered, obviously if you're ok with that?😃
Reading the text over multiple times, pinching yourself to make sure it was real. You hadn’t seen Daichi in close to 3 months, and within that time you had developed feelings. What would it be like seeing him in person now, generally being awkward with past crushes, you started to worry about scaring him away. You couldn’t do that, you needed him. Taking a couple paces around the room thinking about what to reply, before realising you were most definitely overthinking it. He didn’t see you that way…
[y/n] - Yeah sure! Just let me know a time and place, i will be there
Daichi - 1pm at the park round the corner from your house?
[y/n] - See you there!!
The next morning you woke up with a huge smile plastered on your face, excited for the day ahead. Jumping out of bed and rummaging through your wardrobe you pulled out a cute summer dress, not too dressy but showed you put effort in none the less. The summer dress was red and was covered in little white flowers, you had only worn it a couple times and decided it needed another outing.
Walking down your road and around the corner to the park, the wind hitting your face made you feel like maybe the world was getting back to normal. As you walked through the gates, you noticed Daichi stood over by a slightly more wooded area, smiling as you made your way over to him. Greeting each other you forgot how much his laugh and smile made it seem like nothing else mattered, making your heart beat faster in your chest. He ended up leading you through the woods and into a small opening which had 2 picnic blankets laid down at the appropriate distance. As you got closer you noticed that there were sandwiches, fruit and small cakes on both.
‘You didn’t have to do this Daichi you know? A simple sandwich would have been fine?’ You started smiling at him, no one had ever gone to this much effort for you and honestly you felt bad. ‘It must have taken you a bit to set this up…’
‘Oh no, honestly don’t worry about it… i wanted to, neither have been out in a while so i figured why not?’ The laugh that came out sounded almost nervous, which confused you slightly… Was he really as nervous as you?
The afternoon went by quicker than both of you wanted. Chatting, cracking jokes and eating, which the food Daichi had made was really good. You had asked why he had never told you about his clear culinary skills, apparently this was the first time he had attempted something like this. Trying not to get too far ahead of yourself when he had mentioned this, even though you were freaking out. Mainly chatting about quarantine life and how you missed being out of lockdown, being able to socialise freely and do whatever you wanted.
You only realised how long you had been with Daichi when it started to get dark, letting him know you should probably be getting back. Even though in reality you could have stayed there for the rest of the night and into the early morning. Helping him pack everything up occasionally sneaking glances at him, wishing you could pull him into a hug or give him a peck on the cheek. Just to let him know how much he had helped you over the past month. Sadly you couldn’t, once everything had been packed away Daichi (being the gentleman that he is) offered to walk you back.
‘I had a really good afternoon, thank you for this Daichi…’ Smiling at him as you walk up to your front door.
‘Would you want to do something like this again maybe?’ The way he looked at you, his eyes almost pleading, with a slight smile gracing his lips. This made your heart instantly melt.
‘If you want to? I would love that!’
‘[y/n]... why would i ask if i didn’t want to?’ Raising a brow at you playfully.
‘Shut up you dork, i’ll see you soon then!’ Laughing as you walk through your door giving him a wave before closing it and sliding down it on the other side, trying to calm your heart that was about to burst through your chest.
Another couple weeks past, you had only met up with Daichi once more, but both were still texting all day with the occasional call. You also had met up with Kiyoko within these weeks, explaining your situation. She thought it was really funny how much you were worrying about it because to her it seemed obvious that he returned your feelings. You were still completely denying this fact though, it was something your brain really couldn’t fathom. However, the next day lockdown was reduced once again, you were now allowed to have people in your house from other families.
Being as excitable as you were and the fact your parents were out almost all of the time, you rattled off a text to Daichi asking him if he fancied a chill movie marathon night? Both of you deciding to watch The Hobbit trilogy later on in the evening. Hopping up from the couch you started cleaning the house, preparing snacks and setting up pillows as well as blankets on the couch. Seen as though it was a chill night you had decided on a pair of grey sweats and a plain v-neck t-shirt, that was tied so it wasn’t too long.
You had just finished setting everything up when there was a knock at the door, practically running to get it. Opening the door to his smiling face made something snap and you don’t know what came over yourself as you jumped into his arms, wrapping your own around him. Luckily he was quick to catch you.
‘What did i do to deserve this hug?’ He chuckles to himself as you nuzzle into his neck.
‘Everything. Daichi I owe you so much, you don’t even understand’ Letting out a sigh, he closes the door and carries you over to the couch. Placing you down next to him as you pout at him, sad that the hug was over so soon. You had waited for so long to be wrapped up in his arms and when you finally get the chance it barely lasts 2 minutes.
‘Listen Daichi… you have helped me so much over the past few months, and honestly…’ Taking a breath to figure out how to phrase your next words, however before you could say anything else he had pulled you back into his chest.
‘I like you too dork…’ Frozen in his arms, how long had he known… How long had he liked you back? All you could do in that moment was snake your arms round him and enjoy each other's company as he started the first film.
~ BONUS ~
‘How long have you liked me Daichi?’ You question him half way through the first film.
‘About 6 months give or take why?’ He turns his attention towards you and gives you a quick head kiss, before looking back to the film.
‘6 months… that's before we went into lockdown..?’
He hums, smirking at your clearly oblivious nature, as your brain was spiralling thinking about how many signals you missed.

Vermillion Grove - Chapter 3A: The Disc - Dinah Drake x Fem!Baby!Lance!Reader
Tag List: @samustar @talatomaz
Chapter 2
Dinah let out a breath as she pulled up on her bike, at another motel on the highway out of Portland. One glance made her know it was unsecure enough that it was secure. It was just another motel on the highway. Of course, after what Scotty said, Dinah was slightly more paranoid than usual. She’d checked her entire room for bugs, shut the windows and made sure there were no gaps in the curtains.
That was when Dinah got out the burner laptop. It was a cheap laptop she’d bought with cash that had a disc drive. She’d turned off all online communications as she slipped the disc into the drive.
“I flew too high to the sun, fell back to Earth like a stone, I got too high on myself, too young and stupid to tell-”
“What the hell?” Dinah whispered, picking up the disc case to find something jammed under the cd tray. Her fingers nudged the ‘Next’ button on the laptop.
“When the sun goes down, we all get lonely, watch me as I disappear, these empty sounds and endless stories, tell me what I want to hear-”
“Really, Y/n? A mixtape?”
“Why do all of the monsters come out at night? Why do we sleep when we want to hide? Why do I run back to you when you fuck up my life?”
“How am I supposed to get anything from this? Did Scotty just lie and give me their mixtape?” Dinah grumbled before pausing at the lyrics of the song currently playing.
“But there’s a light on in Chicago, and I know I should be home, all of the lights remind me of the pickup truck in front of your neighbour’s house.”
“Chicago?”
“You were last good thing about this part of town.”
“I’m going to have this on a loop, I can already tell…” Dinah whispered, glaring at the screen as another song hit.
“Hello Brooklyn, Hey LA, take the streets all night ‘cause we sleep all day. When the world comes crashing down, who’s ready to party?”
Dinah slammed the spacebar at the second mention of Chicago from the song playing, pausing as she stared at the wall for a moment.
That moment was all she needed before opening the cd file on the computer.
1. Clumsy – All Time Low
2. Thin White Lies – 5 Seconds of Summer
3. Monsters – All Time Low ft Blackbear
27. Chicago is so Two Years Ago – Fall Out Boy
4. Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy – Fall Out Boy
2M. Hello Brooklyn – All Time Low
The next song wasn’t as subtle but was old enough that even Dinah hadn’t heard of it.
5W. Salt Lake City – The Beach Boys
6. Runaway – The Vamps
7. Me Against the World – Simple Plan
8. Don’t Call Me Angel – Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray
9. Save Yourself – My Darkest Days
10. The Bitter Truth – Breakaway
11. You and I – PVRIS
Dinah froze as the music cut out suddenly during number 6. Your voice echoed in her eardrums.
“I’m sorry. Good luck.”
Then the music cut back again, continuing with number 7.
///
You let out a breath as your burner phone chimed, checking the message with urgency.
Unknown: Torch has been passed.
A smile tried to slip its way across your face at the message but instead, you removed the sim card from the phone, snapping it in half. Then you snapped the phone in half, throwing it in the bin.
“Thanks, Scotty.” You whispered under your breath before continuing your way to where you were staying.
“Room under Noble?”
“Yes, room 3, I hope you have a nice stay here.” The person at the desk said with a smile, passing the room key over to you.
“Thanks.”
///
Dinah sighed as she stared at her digital crime-board map that she’d asked Felicity about the software for.
“Star City to Portland… then Chicago, Brooklyn, LA and Salt Lake City are all mentioned. Not all of these can be right, can they? For all I know, some of these are decoys or red herrings…”
The phone ringing jumped Dinah out of her thoughts.
“Hey, you asked if there was anything in Y/n’s bank account history? Well I found she has money split into several accounts, one last used on a train ticket, I don’t know where it was departing from, but it was to Salt Lake City or the train station near it, anyway. How much of her book have you read? It might give you some clues, y’know.” Earth 2 Laurel stated, reading off from Felicity’s computer.
“I’m on chapter 3, any idea where she was departing from to get to Salt Lake?” Dinah questioned, tapping her fingers on the wooden desk.
“Either California or Nevada… or both? Facial recognition got a partial match at Sparks, Nevada and in Sacramento, California… then there’s a partial match in Los Angeles as well… do you want any help with this? Y/n seems to be nowhere and everywhere at once...” Laurel enquired, eliciting a pause from Dinah.
“No, it’s better nobody else gets involved. I’m not entirely sure what’s at stake yet, but Y/n is running from something. Leaving breadcrumbs for ‘the right call’ to find in the process.”
“Call? What about a cry? A canary cry?”
“Y/n adored the Canary mantle apparently, so that would make sense… anyway, thank you for the information, Laurel…”
///
“Looks like we’re heading south…” Dinah whispered as she glanced around, pausing before she heard the wind blow loudly. The realisation made her shoulders relax before slipping an earbud back into listen to your mixtape.

technically a movie takes so long to make. so zac definitely most likely knew he would film Gold in Adelaide. like logan lerman’s interview back in aug i think? he said there’s a long process of how a film is developed like producers talking on how the film would work and what not. we just don’t know about it yet until they’ve officially released a statement about a movie being filmed or the cast members.
Z moved to aus because he was supposed to work on something there but the pandemic hit and he got stuck there. He flew just a week before everything shutdown. Than in the meantime he met her and also seen many other dates before ness. Because comon who wants to be alone in a foreign country in a pandemic. Meantime he got that gold movie role and just decided to stay there for a while until he has to leave for other works. To sum up he never went aus for her and DM is BS at this point now
If we were not in pandemic then z and ness relationship could be something but right now it seems like both of them just wanted someone to get through this pandemic and that is why z is also staying there even after the filming ended. Let’s see how it turns out when z leaves for work. Many people are just staying in a relationship or something for the sake of not being alone because it is hard being alone especially in this time it’s really been a crazy year I don’t know how I survived it
So Zac has sold his LA home and bought a plot of land in Aus. He's gonna build a house there and stay there perminantly. Its so obvious that's his plan and he'll only go back to LA for work. He's left all he knows back in LA and all his friends. That's such a big decision.
According to DM z bought 22m house in byron bay, going to propose to ness on HIS bday, did gave a ring on HIS bday, broke up or dumped by z, again was going to propose on new years and now again bought some 2m land in tweed valley. Whewww z has a lot of cash to buy so many properties and rings in just few months or maybe he is trying to hard to impress that girl 😂( it’s a joke don’t hate on me guys)
yeah DM are idiots lmao he was always planning on moving to austrailia or living there part time but he just happened to meet his gf while there. It was bound to happen for him to meet someone (doesn't mean it'll last tho). He'll prob stay there for a little, regardless of the girl or not. but eventually I think he'll come back to LA even if it's in a year or two

Ask me Out
I had to delete my old Tumblr and make a new one, which is why I had to reupload every One Shot I've posted. This was my very first request: "I have a request! (First one maybe?) I hope that AU is also possible..? Sanji joins a cooking class in high school and wants to impress his crush who is the popular girl." Also: @underworldsheiress I have read your comment and it really made my day. I will be posting a second 'chapter' just for you :)
I really loved this idea and after reading it, I immediately had a few dirty thoughts in my head but maybe I could include that in another one shot (I don’t know if anyone would read that much - but if anyone would, please let me know!). Oh..and also: Yaaaay first request *pop the champagne*!
- 1.483 words - high school romance, no smut, some nosebleed
While waiting for the schoolbell to ring, Sanji was waiting outside in the school halls for you, like almost every day. He used his cooking class to create a dish for you and sometimes he would sneak into the kitchen, just to create something more extravagant whenever it seemed like you were having a bad day. Today was one of those days. Hearing a door open, before the schoolbell rang, Sanji looked up and saw how you left the class room, not paying attention to him at all. His heart felt like it was breaking apart and there was nothing that he would want to do more than to get your attention and make you talk to him. "(Y/N), wait!", he ran after you, keeping your favourite sushi and maki mix safe in a box in his hands. "Not now, Sanji!", you demanded, while keeping your distance. As you went to the girls bathroom, Sanji stopped right in front of it and sighed. Every idea he had, went through his mind and while he couldn't choose what to do next, he felt a slight push on his back and found himself in the girls bathroom in the very next second. "Marimo!", he growled as he heard the green-haired idiot laughing behind the doors.
Now that he finally realised where he actually was, he looked around and saw you staring at him confused. "I've got something for you.", Sanji almost whispered and didn't know if he should stay here with you or go out, because he was not supposed to be here. While holding out a box of your favourite food, Sanji looked at you a little worried and ashamed. "Don't worry. I saw Zoro pushing you in. I will beat him up in p.e. and take revenge for you", you smiled a little and approached him. The blush on his cheeks was spreading on his face, the closer you were. Taking the little box, you held it tight in your arms, "Thank you. I won't eat it here though..", you kissed his cheek and giggled at the sight of him almost fainting. "Breathe, Sanji-kun.", you patted his chest softly and he immediately went on his knees, taking out a ring.
"Not again!", you pulled him up and laughed, "Silly boy."
Every time you touched or just looked at him with a smile, he cannot stand the thought of you doing this with other men as well, which is why he wants to marry you so badly. "Okay, (Y/N)-chan. But one day you will, right?" You answered with a soft wink and looked at the mirror, "Sorry for being so harsh at you before. I just needed to calm down for a second." "What's wrong, ma chère?", Sanji came a step closer and stroked a strand of hair behind your ear, appreciating the soft skin below his fingers. "Kid was annoying again..", you explained calm and saw Sanjis reflection in the mirror. In moments like these the calm side of him was very intimidating and you didn't know if you could trust his silence or not. "Because of the meals I prepare for you?", Sanji looked directly at you and you weren't sure if he was breathing at all. "Well.. don't worry about it." "Is he teasing you because of it?" Not giving him an answer, made him feel like this might be because of something else. "Or is it because you're spending time with me?" "Sanji.. please-" "Please answer, (Y/N)", Sanji wouldn't want anyone to harm you because of him. Especially not if it was a jerk like him. "He believes that I shouldn't be going out with you because..", you couldn't say these words out loud. "Because you're popular and I am what? A loser?", he completed the sentence and sighed. "I don't think so, Sanji. You know that, right?", you turned to him and looked up into his eyes. This was probably the first time that he didn't blush or got a nose bleed from it. "I don't care what he thinks. I just don't want him to harm you." "Don't worry. I can handle this.", you smiled a bit at him and took a deep breath, hearing the schoolbell ring, "You should go out, before anyone sees you here."
During lunch break, you were sitting with your friends at the table, enjoying the conversations and the food. Kid was one of the popular ones as well, which is why he joined the table and sat down with his tray right in front of you. "Oh would you look at that. The eyebrow-mascot made our princess some lunch again.", Kid grinned and wanted to take a sushi. When you hit his hand away, he looked at you shocked and stood up angry. "What? Is he your lover now? Your fuckboy?!" "I would rather share a bed with him than with you.", you whispered angry, knowing that almost everyone stared at you both. Not many seconds later, Kid flipped the table and everyone ran away except you. Feeling sad for Sanjis food being on the floor, you stood up and were just about to pick up Sanjis box, which had a few makis left in it, when suddenly Kid grabbed your wrist. What happened next, was not something you were prepared for.
Sanji kicked Kid with a single hit across the room and screamed, "Don't touch my (Y/N)-chan!" Standing there in shock, he went down and picked up the box. Luffy ran towards you two and stole all the sushi and maki, which were on the floor and ate them fast, "Well done, Sanji!", he complimented his best friend with a full mouth, barely understandable. "What..?", were the only words you could say out loud. "Here, mon muse. I thought this would cheer you up.", he smiled proud and handed you a new box filled with some sweet pastries. You took it, absent-minded , still not able to process the last minute and looked at Kid, who was knocked out on the floor. Luffy stood up and looked at the box, then at you, "If.. you don't want to eat that, then-" Sanji screamed at him and had his usual fight with him, where he offers to kick his butt into a different universe.
You were still unsure about how Sanji send that almost 2m monster flying but the fact that he was there, protecting you and still making sure that you were doing okay by offering another meal, made you feel much more overwhelmed. While everyone gathered around, trying to talk to you and get your attention just to talk to the popular girl, Sanji was the one who first captured your taste in food and now your taste in men. As he smiled at you and turned away to leave, you pushed yourself through the crowd, just to reach him, "Thank you, Sanji!"
The blond cook turned around to you and blushed a little, "Nothing to thank me for." "Can I ask you something?", you took a deep breath, trying to fight the urge to yell at Luffy, who was waiting for a moment when he could steal the box filled with the delicious desert. "Anything, (Y/N)-chan.", Sanji smiled excited and nervous as well. He knew that the crowd was listening to them and he hoped to not get dumbed right in front of everyone. "You've made me all these meals, protected me from Kid, jokingly asked me to marry you many times but you've never asked me out on a date. Why?", your heart was beating way too fast and you feared that this time you'd be the one fainting. Fearing that you'd be turned down by Sanji right now, you were patiently waiting for an answer and he took longer than expected.
"I never thought you'd want to go out with a guy like me.", he whispered and looked down, a little ashamed. As it seemed like, he wouldn't get the hint, you took the matter into your own hands, "Well.. do you want to go out with me?" Sanji looked up to you and he would have never thought to hear these words from you. "WHAT?! Are you insane?!", you both heard Kid screaming from the other side, who finally woke up from the dead. "Shut up! She chose me, you bastard!", Sanji screamed and hawked, preparing his voice to sound more relaxed, "I should be the one asking you, mon chèrie." "Then ask!", you looked at him a little annoyed and laughed a bit. "(Y/N)-chan. Do you want to go on a date with me?", he smiled shy. As happy as you could be, you pulled him softly down and kissed him. After letting go off him, he immediately fell down backwards and his nose was bleeding again, "Was..that.. a yes?" You looked down at him and couldn't help but giggle, "Yes, Sanji-kun. That's a 'yes'."

Aspire Nautilus 2 Review
Aspire Nautilus 2 Intro
The Nautilus 2 has some interesting coil options. First of all, they have gone back to the original 1.8 BVC coils, so it is actually cross compatible with the OG Nautilus. Second of all, they now have .7 ohm coils available, so apparently you can do some sub ohm vaping with this badboy.
Aspire Nautilus 2 Product Picture
Aspire Nautilus 2 Specs and Features
Kit Content

1x Extra Coil(1.8ohm)
1x Extra Glass Tube
8x Orings
1x User Manual
1x Warning Card
1x Extra Drip tip
Specifications
Height: 53mm
Diameter: 22mm
Capacity: 2ml
Material: Stainless steel / aluminum
Notable Remarks
Ok, so I am holding the Nautilus 2 in my hand and just admiring its sexy curves. It is almost like a throwback to the original bell-shaped Nautilus and Nautilus Mini. I like the looks of the Nautilus 2, and I’m intrigued by its airflow settings and just the overall aesthetics in general…
However, is this going to vape better than the original? I know many people were not happy with the Nautilus X, and my theory is that there is something up with the coils they use. They don’t seem to hold up too long. It will be a fresh breath of air to vape on the old school Nautilus coils.
I am very curious about the sub ohm coils too. I am a fan of sub ohm vaping, and I believe that it can be enjoyable, even when mouth-to-lunging it. I think it’s great that Aspire is providing an option for both sub ohm and above ohm coils for the different types of mouth-to-lung vapers.
Performance
I mean, considering that I am vaping on the same exact coil that the original Nautilus uses, it vapes like a Nautilus with an updated shell. I love the airflow wide open, Aspire must have worked hard on creating the perfect airflow for mouth-to-lung vaping. The flavor is on point….
Filling this thing took some time to get used to, but it makes sense once you get the hang of it. The Nautilus 2 is technically a top-fill tank, because it fills from the top, but not the way I was expecting. Almost everything about this tank crushes the Nautilus X in performance thus far. One of the only cons with the Nautilus 2 is that you are going to blow through so much juice with these sub ohm coils. The capacity is 2m, in order to be TPD compliant. It seems as though I can’t even fill it all the way without it overflowing when I close it, so more like a 1.8mL capacity.
Other then that, the only thing I can say bad about this device is that the airflow control ring is a bit stiff, which will probably go away with time. Last but not least. it doesn’t have that nice, clicky airflow control ring that we have all grown to love about the Nautilus Mini. Oh well….

Compact
Great flavor
Perfect airflow for MTL vaping
Protected glass
Stylish
Takes both .7 ohm and original 1.8 ohm Nautilus coils
Verdict
I am loving the .7 ohm coil versus the 1.8 ohm ones so far, probably because I am used to vaping on lower sub ohm builds. At 20W it gives me the perfect vape for when I am on-the-go, and want that blast of flavor without creating a big scene. The Nautilus 2 is also very compact.
Overall, the Nautilus 2 is an excellent MTL tank. The way it is designed, the glass is actually protected by an outer shell, which also looks pretty dope. It definitely lives up to the Nautilus name, and the flavor is on par too. Yet another great option for mouth-to-lungers by Aspire….

Happy Monday. Again, I hope the writers stay on board for season 2 of #HouseOfTheDragon. If they do stay on board, hopefully they don’t get complacent / lax. Last night’s episode had the biggest “oh shit” moment thus far. My neighbors may have heard me yell those exact words.
On the topic of #Donut - Donutphilia, arousal to donuts. I was diagnosed with this disorder when I was 18.
The first person I worked up the courage to tell was my brother, Pablo. Took me a year to tell him. His understanding and support gave me the strength to tell my parents and closest friends. Since then, I’ve worked up the courage and motivation to turn my problem into a gift that I can use to help others. I don’t just want people to understand that it’s ok to be different, I want them to embrace it. I love your differences. I love you. Yes, you.
Please send me pictures of donuts.
Like “Face Tattoo,” the lyrics are bubblegum pop. Dumb fun, nothing more. People tend to prefer meaningful lyrics (i.e. “In Love”), so I’ll probably move in that direction for GoBoy 7.
Production was seamless. About 1 out of 10 songs goes as smoothly as “Donut.” For GoBoy 5, the writing and production processes were chaotic, akin to throwing darts with a blindfold on (this paragraph contains excerpts from post 85). Most songs turned into a puzzle once they reached the mixing phase, with a portion of the pieces destined not to fit. It required constant compromising - discarding segments, restructuring, rewriting, etc. But not this song. Everything that was originally written made it into the final song.
I watched the Lord of the Rings extended trilogy on a Saturday while mixing the vocals. Around eleven hours. It was fun.
Mixing vocals is like knitting. It takes a lot of time, but not much effort. Vocal mixing in GoBoy songs consists of splicing every word so that it perfectly aligns with the tempo, pitch correction (everyone uses pitch correction in the studio, even Beyoncé, shut up), panning, and then experimenting with plugins. The plugin experimentation phase normally requires more focus. The alignment, pitch correction and panning phases are when I can catch up on movies, shows, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.
Beat + bass + melody. That’s the style of GoBoy 5 (this paragraph is an excerpt from post 80). While I’ve appreciated this minimalistic style for years, “Tell My Mama (Song 42)” was the first time trying it. I went whole-hog with GoBoy 5, in which most songs primarily consist of a beat, bass and melody.
In April, 2021, almost all of GoBoy 3, 4 and 5 songs were restructured to be under 2m 30s, including this song. In an attempt to increase replay value in this streaming era, most of GoBoy’s songs are now purposely around 2m 20s.
A bass boost was added to songs 37-99 in Nov, 2021, while I had covid (this paragraph is an excerpt from post 38). As a result, this song feels more powerful. The bass boost isn’t a simple plugin nonchalantly added to each song. It’s a process that took about 3.5 hours per song, or one whole month to complete all songs. Admittedly, I pushed the bass boost a little too far for some of them. The bass in some songs sounds like a freaking earthquake (unnecessarily pronounced low frequencies 20 - 50 Hz). Might dial that back someday. The bass boost was also applied to every song on GoBoy 6 and beyond.

Since parting ways with Sennheiser, Danish audio hardware manufacturers EPOS have gone from strength to strength. Their target is the bustling gaming market, one that grows year on year and one of the best performers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EPOS H3 wired gaming headset, then, enters a marketplace brimming with competition and not short of regular new entries.
At face value, the H3 looks great, and for many, wired audio always trumps wireless, no matter if you're gaming or just enjoying your favorite artists.
Read on for our hands-on review of the EPOS H3.

The EPOS H3 Is Designed for Gamers
Let's start with the H3 design. EPOS has opted for an over-ear, closed-back wired design for the H3, which is good for the audio-immersion side of things.
In terms of comfort, the H3 earpads are extremely soft memory foam covered with leatherette, using an ergonomic approach designed to fit any ear comfortably for prolonged periods. The earcup itself is of a decent size, covering most of the ear to create a decent seal to prevent audio leakage, in or out.
The headband's underside is also covered in soft material, and while every head is different, you can use the adjustable sliders to find the most comfortable wearing angle. The overall build quality of the EPOS H3 wired gaming headset feels good, if a bit heavy on the plastic. The sliders are metal, which does give you a feeling that that headphones won't suddenly break at this critical pressure point, which is always welcome.
One thing I did note was how quickly the headband adjusted to my head. It felt like the headband was becoming slack rather quickly, which was disconcerting. However, after hours of use, the headband now feels naturally contoured to my head size, which again, adds to the overall comfort level.
Another interesting point is weight distribution. The EPOS H3 headset weighs 270g (9.5oz), which is fairly average in terms of competitors and headsets in general. EPOS has designed the H3 with excellent balance, so the weight feels well distributed throughout the headset. This, rather than the bottom-heavy feeling you find with some headsets, which in turn can lead to pressure build-up on the ears.
The H3 comes with an integrated microphone. While that won't please everyone, it is unobtrusive and doesn't cause any issues when you're not using it. Also, being able to mute the microphone by pushing it into the upwards position is a handy option for those moments where you need to stop broadcasting on team-speak, Discord, or otherwise, but don't want to both finding the actual mute button.
Last but not least, the EPOS H3 is a wired gaming headset. With a cable length of 2 meters, it'll suit most gaming setups. However, if you're sitting further back, you'll be pleased to know that the audio quality doesn't suffer when connected to an extension cable.
How Do the EPOS H3 Sound?
Enough about design and comfort: how do the EPOS H3 wired gaming headphones handle audio?
As this is a gaming headset, it was only right to take it for a test run in all manner of games, covering first-person shooters, racing, and more.
First out of the blocks was Doom 2016, which is always a good test for any gaming headset. The combination of punchy, powerful weapons, howling demons, and incredible soundtrack come to life with the EPOS H3. I'm always amazed at the Super Shotgun's overall sound, the shotgun shells ripping from the barrels in unison, while recoil and reload both feel immeasurably close to you, delivering a great sense of immersion in the demonic world.
Dirt 5 was an interesting experience, too. The cars in Dirt 5 tend to ignore the sound of gears changing, instead just sound like they're moving through the same gear ratio five or six times without any change in tone. Of course, the H3s cannot help that. It's a game design issue.
However, I found the EPOS H3 picking out other noises in Dirt 5, which is a nice touch. On stages with driving rain, black skies, and thunder and lightning, the local environment very much comes to the fore. The rain actually sounds dense, puddles crash over your vehicle, and every grain of gravel under your tire crunches.
Then there games that don't blast sound at you, requiring a more subtle soundstage to pick up on every aspect of the audio design. The roguelike Noita very much fits this description, with sounds creeping into the gameplay depending on your location, environment, enemies, and bosses. The H3 headset picks up on those subtleties and doesn't overwhelm them with its own sound signature due to the soundstage design.
EPOS has taken the opportunity to tune the H3 soundstage to pick up every footstep, each shell casing dropping to the floor and each drop of rain with precision. But they cover the wider sound experience nicely, putting every ounce of EPOS's design expertise to good use.
The H3 headset very much lives up to the billing. EPOS wants the H3 to "deliver an accurate, clear midrange, with a controlled bass response," and you'll find that, honestly, this is the case.
H3 Headphones Deliver the Musical Goods, Too
It's not only games that the H3 headphones help to sound fantastic. Most people use their headphones to listen to music outside of their gaming sessions, and the H3 doesn't disappoint here, either.
The H3 EQ isn't flat like you would find with studio earphones. But it doesn't push particularly far into any specific sound signature, either. What I mean is that often when manufacturers try to deliver a soundstage suited to gaming, it can end up bass-heavy to account for explosions, or pushed too high to capture gunshots, and so on.
The H3 doesn't force you massively in any direction, with the same qualities that bring your favorite games to life also ringing home with music, too. You can really get a sense of this when listening to certain types of music. For example, a synth-wave playlist is the perfect type of music for the H3 headphones. In fairness, this is likely due to this genre's affinity with games, but nonetheless, they sound great.
Is the EPOS H3 Microphone Worth Using?
As far as integrated gaming headset microphones go, the EPOS H3s bidirectional option performs well across several different games, chat apps, and more. Integrated microphones are always a bit hit or miss, leaving you stuck with a lackluster microphone in some cases.
The H3 microphone, on the other hand, is crisp and clear, with friends and family alike commenting on the overall clarity of my voice while chatting. Handily, the microphone requires very little effort to position. You can move the microphone arm up and down, and there is a small flexible area in the middle of the arm, but the overall positioning didn't appear to affect my ability to be heard.
In that, the H3 microphone is reliably clear and easy to use, which is a great combination.
As mentioned above, the option to mute your voice broadcast by simply pushing the microphone arm up into the lock position is handy, especially when you're deep into a game that you cannot pause or leave—we've all been there!
Is the EPOS H3 Wired Gaming Headset Worth Your Money?
The biggest compliment I can possibly pay the EPOS H3 headset is that it has become my daily audio driver right now. In a world where headphone and earbuds options are essentially limitless and where I can review several different headsets a month, for the EPOS H3 wired gaming headphones to have landed and become my go-to is quite something.
Add in the fact that as a 3.5mm wired gaming headset, you can use the EPOS H3 with any platform or bit of hardware with a regular headphones port, and EPOS is definitely onto a winner.
The H3 headset is comfortable, too. You can wear these cans for hours without realizing it. The soft cushioning protects your ears from overheating or pressure fatigue, and the aforementioned weight balance means you genuinely don't notice the H3 upon your head.
The EPOS H3 is available in Snow White or Onyx Black for $120. For the comfort levels alone, the H3 is well worth your time.

“Read the classics”, my advisor always says, so I brought Toda’s Composition Methods in Homotopy Groups of Spheres home with me this winter. It’s reminded me how hard unstable homotopy theory is, and I feel like many of the questions there have been not so much completed as abandoned in the rush for stability. (Maybe the new interest in periodic unstable homotopy theory will stimulate a return to some of these ideas.) I’ll define the EHP sequence, one of Toda’s bread-and-butter tools due to him and Ioan James, prove a theorem about one of its maps, and then describe the proof I wish I had.
Given a pointed space $X$ with basepoint 0, define the James construction $J(X)$ as follows. $J_n(X)$ is the quotient of $X^{\times n}$ by the relation $$(x_1, \dotsc, x_{n-1}, 0) = (x_1, \dotsc, 0, x_{n-1}) = \dotsb = (0, x_1, \dotsc, x_{n-1}).$$ There are maps $J_{n-1}(X) \to J_n(X)$ given by adding 0 as the last coordinate, and $J(X) = \bigcup J_n(X)$. $J(X)$ is the free topological monoid on $X$, and is homotopy-equivalent to $\Omega \Sigma(X)$. The map $J(X) \to \Omega \Sigma(X)$ inducing this equivalence is not hard to describe: $x \in J_1(X)$ goes to the `longitudinal’ loop $[t \mapsto (x, t)]$, the second $t$ being the suspension coordinate, and this extends to a map of monoids in an obvious way.
When $X$ is a sphere $S^m$, one readily gets a cell decomposition for the James construction, in which $J_n(S^m)$ is constructed from $J_{n-1}(S^m)$ by adding a single $mn$-cell. It’s a first exercise in the Serre spectral sequence to compute the cohomology ring of $\Omega S^{m+1}$: a divided-power algebra on a degree $m$ generator if $m$ is even, and an exterior algebra on a degree $m$ generator tensored with a divided-power algebra on a degree $2m$ generator if $m$ is odd.
Toda, following James, now defines the generalized Hopf invariant as follows. When $X = S^m$ is a sphere, we have a cofiber sequence $$J_1(S^m) \to J_2(S^m) \stackrel{h}{\to} S^{2m}$$. There’s now a natural way to extend $h$ to a map $H:J(S^m) \to J(S^{2m})$ that kills $S^m$, which James calls the ‘combinatorial extension’ of $h$. On $J_n(S^m)$, $H$ sends $$(x_1, \dotsc, x_n) \mapsto \prod_{\sigma:2 \to n} h(x_{\sigma(1)}, x_{\sigma(2)}),$$ where the maps $\sigma$ are monotone increasing and ordered lexicographically.
We now have a sequence $$S^m \stackrel{E}{\to} \Omega S^{m+1} \stackrel{H}{\to} \Omega S^{2m+1}.$$ The neat thing is that this is nearly a fiber sequence. Specifically, it induces a long exact sequence of homotopy groups
in homotopy degrees less than $3m-1$,
in all degrees if $m$ is odd,
and in all degrees 2-locally.
(At odd primes $p$, there’s a similar map $\Omega S^{m+1} \to \Omega S^{pm+1}$ whose $p$-local fiber is $J_{p-1}S^m$.) This long exact sequence is the EHP sequence. $E:\pi_i S^m \to \pi_i \Omega S^{m+1} = \pi_{i+1} S^{m+1}$ is the suspension isomorphism, German Einleitung. The connecting map $\pi_{i+1} S^{2m+1} \to \pi_{i-1} S^m$ is named $P$ for the Whitehead product, as when $i = 2m$ it sends $1 \in \pi_{2m+1} S^{2m+1}$ to $\pm [1_{S^m}, 1_{S^m}] \in \pi_{2m-1} S^m$. The sequence is useful for figuring out when maps of spheres desuspend, and better yet defines a spectral sequence for calculating unstable homotopy groups of spheres, which is described in section 1.5 of Ravenel’s Complex Cobordism and Stable Homotopy Groups of Spheres.
I want to talk more about the map $H:\pi_{i+1}S^{m+1} \to \pi_{2m+1}S^{m+1}$, and its claim to be a generalized Hopf invariant. This refers to a map $\pi_{2n-1}S^n \to \mathbb{Z}$ used by Hopf to find the first nonzero higher homotopy groups of spheres. Hopf gave his invariant a geometric definition: if $f:S^{2n-1} \to S^n$ is a map, then the preimages of two generic points $p, q \in S^n$ are disjoint $(n-1)$-manifolds in $S^n$, and $H(f)$ is their linking number (well-defined up to sign). You should compare the degree map $\pi_n S^n \to \mathbb{Z}$, defined as the signed cardinality of the preimage of a single generic point.
There’s a cohomological definition I usually prefer. The cofiber of $f$, $C(f)$, has an $n$-cell and a $2n$-cell. If $x$ is a generator of $H^n$ and $y$ is a generator of $H^{2n}$, then $x^2 = dy$ for some integer $d$, and this is the Hopf invariant of $f$.
Here’s a moderately convoluted argument that James and Toda’s $H$ recovers the Hopf invariant when $i = 2m+1$. (I’ll take $m > 1$ to make things easier.) A map $f:S^{2m+1} \to S^{m+1}$ is adjoint to $$S^{2m} \stackrel{\eta}{\to} \Omega S^{2m+1} \stackrel{\Omega f}{\to} \Omega S^{m+1}.$$ The image of this factors through $J_2 S^m$, and the map $h$ killing the bottom cell gets us back to $S^{2m}$. This is summarized in the following diagram.
We want to know what the composition does to $\pi_{2m}$, or equivalently to $H^{2m}$. It’s not hard to see that $\eta$ and $h$ send generators of $H^{2m}$ to generators, so we just have to care about $\Omega f$.
By Blakers-Massey, the cofiber sequence $$S^{2m+1} \to S^{m+1} \to C(f),$$ with the first term $2m$-connected and the first map $m$-connected, is a fiber sequence through homotopy degree $3m-1$ (meaning that the map from $S^{2m+1}$ to the homotopy fiber is $(3m-1)$-connected). Thus, $$\Omega S^{2m+1} \to \Omega S^{m+1} \to \Omega C(f)$$ is a fiber sequence through degree $3m-2$. On the other hand, we can calculate $H^*\Omega C(f)$ from the Serre spectral sequence for $\Omega C(f) \to * \to C(f)$. Exercise: as with the loop space of the sphere, it has a divided power generator in degree $m$ (an exterior generator in degree $m$ and a divided power generator in degree $2m$ if $m$ is odd; we should just call these things divided power algebras too). It also has a class $w$ in degree $2m+1$ whose order is $H(f)$. Bonus exercise: what’s the whole cohomology ring?
In the Serre spectral sequence for the fibration $\Omega S^{m+1} \to \Omega C(f)$, the fiber looks like $\Omega S^{2m+1}$ through degree $3m-2$, and so has its first nonzero class, $x$, in degree $2m$. $x$ is infinite order and must hit $w$ in the spectral sequence, leaving behind the subgroup $H(f)\cdot x$. Thus, $H^{2m}(\Omega S^{m+1}) \to H^{2m}(\Omega S^{2m+1})$ is multiplication by $H(f)$, which is exactly what we wanted.
What I haven’t been able to do is prove this same statement, that $H$ agrees with the Hopf invariant, using the geometric definition of the invariant. I’m thinking that one should be able to compute the preimage of a generic point in $S^{2m}$ in the above diagram, and thus show that the degree of the map $S^{2m} \to S^{2m}$ agrees with the linking number defining the Hopf invariant. Do you see how to do this? If so, you could win your school this computerized toast system:

The great 80s Zoom reunion! How Josh Gad lured film giants out of lockdown - The Guardian
Five of the top 10 films at the US box office last weekend were made by Steven Spielberg. Jurassic Park roared in at No 1, leaving Jaws biting at its heels at No 2. Back to the Future was No 6, just above ET, with The Goonies at No 10. What people want to watch during a pandemic, it seems, is feelgood nostalgia – especially if it’s from the early- to mid-1980s and well suited to a drive-in (pretty much the only cinemas currently open in America).
“There’s an element to these films I miss now,” says Josh Gad. “They allowed the audience to lean in and didn’t speak down to them. Today, that’s been relegated to kids’ animation, as opposed to the transcendent live-action family films we grew up with, which now don’t really exist.”
Gad, best-known as the voice of Olaf the snowman in Frozen, has spent much of the past two months on a web series called Reunited Apart, in which he hosts Zoom calls between key players in his favourite movies – all mainstream 80s hits, save for Lord of the Rings. He began with The Goonies, moved on to Splash, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters – and finishes on Sunday with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
“That film in particular struck me as being so from its time,” he says. “The main character, not based on any existing IP, speaks to the camera and tells us about a day he skipped school and he’s chased by a psycho. Pitch that today and you’d be thrown out of the room.”
Watch the trailer for Reunited Apart’s Ferris Bueller episode
The inventiveness and innocence are refreshing, says Gad, likewise plots in which freaky things happen to normal people, rather than superheroes doing extraordinary things. “I’m curious about the evolution of entertainment after coronavirus,” he says. “People may want to go back to some of that, [rejecting] the cynicism that’s in a lot of stuff now, a lot of which was a direct result of 9/11.”
While audiences in the second world war were eager for films reflecting their own battles, people in the future will, thinks Gad, desire escapism and uplift: “We’re all worn down.” The enemy is different – global, mysterious, existentially troubling. “I think part of the success of Reunited Apart is that it reminds people of a time when films didn’t necessarily have a message loaded in them. They just were.”
The series, like other upbeat celebrity home efforts such as John Krasinski’s Some Good News, has been a hit. The shows have turned a substantial profit for good causes: the Lord of the Rings episode, now seen 5m times, raised more than $2m for the child anti-poverty group No Kid Hungry. (Each episode comes with a designated charity, and usually has a corporate partner.)

Stock in Gad’s brand has likewise risen, although the actor was already something of an American sweetheart for his roles in Frozen and the Beauty and the Beast remake, as well as the original Broadway cast of Book of Mormon and a run of small and big screen satires.
This eclectic CV – he’s also a dab hand on the chatshow circuit – has made for an estimable contacts book. Preparing Reunited Apart, he wrangles names for a week, shoots for a couple of hours, then hands over to an editor. Some hoped-for shows fell through: Beetlejuice, Coming to America: “I was told candidly by Eddie Murphy’s agent that it’s not gonna happen.”
You can see why some stars might hesitate. High-profile Covid outreach efforts – such as Gal Gadot’s Imagine singsong – have perilously misjudged the divide between stars and fans, reiterating difference, not commonality. The insights Reunited Apart offers into the homes of the rich and famous are more endearing: chandeliers are tactfully stashed; instead there’s a lot of distant spatulas and gentle shelves, plus the chance to admire Christopher Lloyd’s equine photography or Bill Murray’s DIY hat.

A collegiate atmosphere polices any excess self-congratulation, while the intimacy of the format acts as a clever leveller. It’s easy to feel as if you’re eavesdropping on the Zoom reunion of an actual extended family: many generations, thrilled to see one another in a time of crisis, some better with tech than others.
“We ask everyone to have a second camera, even just an iPhone,” says Gad. “But it is incredible how difficult it is for so many people, once they’ve taken the footage, to get it to us. A lot of times we just get what we get.” Our line is bad, but there seems to be some indulgent muttering about Dan Aykroyd.
Tom Hanks’s participation on the Splash show, says Gad, was powerful not just because he talked about having had coronavirus, but because “his internet didn’t work for about 80% of the shoot. That was so endearing. He really is just like us. Everybody is going through the same craziness, trying to operate in a world that’s still very new and complicated, where our sole connection is through the internet. And sometimes it just fails.”

A continuation of my lockdown ‘journal’… Click here for the 1st instalment
I did fairly well on Monday (Day 13) with staying off social media and games, although I lapsed a little towards the end of the day. (I need to write the day every now and then as otherwise they all meld in together; in other words I don’t know what day it is!!) Today is Wednesday (aka Day 15)
Date:
Wednesday 1st April 2020 (I’m not really expecting there to be many April Fools jokes today)
Current Day of Social Distancing (following government guidelines):
15, but I’m writing about 13 & 14 (as it’s still before 8am on Wednesday, day 15)
Days spent on my own while Calv works (as an HGV driver)
8
Les Mills workouts completed
5* (well 3 1/4 as Body Balance really isn’t my thing…)
3* x sh’bam
1 x Body Combat (the ‘how to’ – will do a proper workout next time)
1/4 x body balance – I never could do it, but thought I’d have another go. The one I chose involved pulling legs towards me by the ankle. My right ankle (injured almost 5 weeks ago while playing netball) still isn’t ready for this. So I gave up 😦
Bring Sally Up (Sally Squat’s)
5* – I still haven’t had to cheat again 🙂
Planks
5* – I’m managing to add 5 seconds each day (I’m now up to 40 seconds and VERY pleased with myself)
Run
1 – I haven’t plucked up the courage to try again after last time but have every intention of doing so tomorrow (I think it’s Thursday tomorrow)
Walks
9*
No walk on Saturday – that was the day we had our visit trip to the supermarket under these current conditions. I was dreading it! It was also my 1st time out in a car for over 2 weeks.
At Asda the queue snaked all the way across the front of the store and into the car park. Everyone was standing patiently 2m apart, although we did see someone give up and go back to their car ( we did wonder if they were thinking it might be quieter later – I wouldn’t have thought so!)
We were let in 1 (or 1 couple) at a time as people finished their shopping and left. Inside the store there were arrows on the floor to try to dictate the direction of flow. People were clearly trying to follow these, but it’s not easy is it? Most people were observing the 2m rule but, again, there were a couple who simply didn’t seem to understand it and would come barrelling towards you.
All in all though not a bad experience and we got everything we wanted/needed.
After dropping some bits off to my dad – he’s 85 and seems to be coping quite well with the lockdown (he has lots of books!) He’s following all the advice to the extent that he refuses to go out into the back garden despite us all telling him that this is allowed!
Anyway, I digress. On the way home as we pulled onto the Delme roundabout the van in front of us hit a swan, which came flying over the top of the van to land in front of us. Of course we stopped and put the hazards on as did the car behind us. After about 5 mins of being sheltered by us and the guy behind (and me trying to ring the RSPCA, who didn’t pick up) the swan seemed to get over it’s shock and stood up to waddle onto the centre of the roundabout – it knew exactly where to go to be safe. Hopefully it was just shocked.
I eventually managed to persuade Calv to come out for a walk later on on Sunday, by which time there was a bracing wind. We managed to avoid this on the way back up the hill by taking the bridleway up past the crematorium.
My walk on Monday (day 13) included stepping over the barrier in front of a footpath just before the road bridge over the motorway. The foot traffic thinned out as I climbed higher towards my goal (I’d always wanted to take this path to see if it would take me directly to the footpath over the motorway – it didn’t).
I did see a little girl with her dad checking out the house (right beside the barrier) that recently had a car buried in it’s front room. There is no reason for the barrier itself to be there – I wonder if it was just laziness or thoughtlessness that means it’s there? Or does it have to extend a certain length either side of the bridge? Who knows!
I found myself walking through local roads that I’d heard of but never walked through (they’re all within minutes of my house!)
Barrier across the Footpath
Yesterday (day 14) I found that the bottom of my road was quite congested and much changing of direction and crossing of the road was required to negotiate my way safely home 🙂
Wii-Fit
3* – Yesterday, (day 14) I wasn’t really in the mood for a full on workout so decided on the WiiFit.
I was proud of myself for finishing off though with Sally Squats, some crunches (numbers upped on previous days) and the obligatory plank 🙂
Trips to the van ‘larder’
So far I have visited most days and had to procure the following:- (a * denotes a change from my previous post)
2* bottles squash
2 packs of teabags – the small packs you get in big boxes
1 box green teabags
4 tins baked beans (Branston)
3 tins of chopped tomatoes
2 tins butter beans
1 tin haricot beans
1 jar of pesto
1 jar of Ragu
1 jar of jam
1 packet of caster sugar (very important)
Garam Masala
Several bottles/cans of beer and cider
1 bottle of wine
1 jar of coffee
1 box of pasta
2 packs of Mexican style rice
2 x toilet rolls
Also now:
4 tins of tuna
Jar ground coriander
1 tin of custard
Several stock pots
Crisps
1 box jaffa cakes
Conversations on HouseParty/other video calls
6 so far on HouseParty / 7/8 on FB or WhatsApp / 1 Google hang-out with work colleagues
I’m still finding that I’m talking to people much more. I’m still not very good at phone calls though!
Watching Homes under the Hammer
I watched most of this on Monday (day 12 🙂
Watching TV in general during the day
SHOCKER – neither Neighbours of Emmerdale were on yesterday (day 13)!!
I’m still not struggling with abiding by the social distancing, but it’s only been a couple of weeks – let’s see what I’m saying this time next week (especially as it looks as though Calv is likely to be at home with me by then!!)
I hope you’re all coping as well and finding plenty to do to occupy your time.
Above all, stay home, stay safe and call someone if you’re struggling (that includes me if you know me xx)
Until the next time xx
