If you've ever noticed that your eyes turn red after a bath, you're not alone. This common issue can be attributed to several factors related to the bathing environment and personal health. Here's a closer look at why this happens and what you can do about it:
Chlorine and Chemicals: Many public and private pools use chlorine to disinfect the water. When you bathe in such water, chlorine can irritate the sensitive tissues of the eyes, leading to redness and discomfort. Even in some household cleaning products or bath additives, chemicals can cause irritation.
Hot Water: Bathing in very hot water can lead to dilated blood vessels in your eyes, causing redness. Hot water can also strip your skin of its natural oils, potentially leading to dryness and irritation around the eyes.
Soap and Shampoo Residue: Residues from soaps, shampoos, or other bath products can inadvertently enter your eyes, causing irritation and redness. Make sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid this issue.
Dry Eyes: Bathing in hot or dry environments can exacerbate symptoms of dry eyes. If your eyes are not producing enough tears, they may become red and irritated after bathing.
Allergic Reactions: Some people may have allergic reactions to ingredients in bath products or even to certain materials in towels or bath mats. This can lead to redness and irritation in the eyes. At Retina Specialist, we emphasize the importance of maintaining eye health in every aspect of daily life. If you experience persistent eye redness or discomfort, it's advisable to consult with a specialist. Our state-of-the-art facility in Indore offers comprehensive care for a wide range of eye conditions, including advanced treatments for retinal disorders and eye trauma. Difference Between Eye Specialists and Retina Specialists
Introduction
Eye care can be everything to such an extent that you can benefit from understanding the various types of specialists when you are at a stage of need to get the right treatment for your eyes. In terms of eye specialists, the common types are the general ophthalmologists and the retina specialists. Despite the fact that both are focused on eye health, the scope of what they do and the conditions they target largely differ. Each provider has different levels of training and expertise and each play a role in maintaining your eye health. To maintain your eye health always get in touch with Retina Specialist in Thane West and best eye specialist in Thane.
General Ophthalmologists:
General ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MDs) or doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs) who have their education in the field of comprehensive eye care. They are taught how to identify and treat a wide variety of eye diseases and conditions. Often ophthalmologists provide routine eye exams, prescribe glasses or contact lenses, and as general practitioners they manage common eye problems like dry eyes, bacterial conjunctivitis, or myopia (nearsightedness), hypermetropia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
They are licensed to practice medicine and eye surgery, and are trained in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of eye diseases. Ophthalmologists are often considered to be on the front line of vision health, and perform many services, including:
eye exams
vision evaluations
eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions
eye surgery
vision therapy
Ophthalmologists can complete additional training, called a fellowship, in subspecialty areas such as retina, glaucoma, cornea, pediatrics, neurology, oculo-plastic surgery and others. For good eye health do regular eye check up and always get in touch with best eye specialist in Thane and best eye specialist in dombivli. Besides performing simple eye examinations, they also are experts in doing various eye surgeries such as cataract surgery, corneal transplants, and laser surgeries for vision correction. They are the frontline physicians for those who seek eye care and make referrals, if necessary, to other specialists in ophthalmology.
Retina Specialists:
Retina specialists are ophthalmologists beyond the basic training of the field, who specialize in the diagnosis and management of retinal and vitreous diseases. It is a sheet of thin, light-sensitive tissue covering the inner aspect of the eye that converts light into signals that are sent to the brain, so that we can see. The vitreous is the gelatinous transparent material that fills the space behind the retina and in front of the lens. Retina specialists treat the widest variety of disorders that affect the retina and vitreous such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, as well as macular edema and uveitis. They employ specific diagnostic techniques which include fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and ultrasound, in the assessment of these conditions. Treat your retinal disorder with Best Retina Specialist In Thane West. Along with medical treatment options, retina specialists receive surgical training to perform a variety of surgeries to treat retinal diseases. These may range from retinal laser surgery, vitrectomy (the removal of the vitreous gel), and intraocular injection of treatments such as anti-VEGF drugs for treatment of age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Key Differences:
1. Scope of Practice:
General ophthalmologists perform routine general eye care such as screening, glasses prescription, and conditions like conjunctivitis. Ophthalmologists who are retina specialists will focus particularly on diseases of the retina and vitreous, hence, it will enable them to offer focused care for complex retinal conditions.
2. Training and Expertise:
Like any other general ophthalmologist, retina specialists have all ophthalmology training, but in addition pursue fellowship and specialized training in disorders of the retina. These supplemental training after all helps them acquire the competence and ability to handle complicated retinal issues.
3. Patient Referrals:
Retina specialists are usually consulted by general eye doctors for the management patients with retinal diseases. The retinal experts may seek assistance from other specialists including the diabetic specialists that are involved in the delivery of the comprehensive care for the patients with systemic conditions that affect the eyes.
4. Advanced Diagnostic and Surgical Techniques:
Retinal experts use sophisticated diagnostic instruments and surgeries like OCT and vitrectomy for recognition and treatment of retinal diseases. These specific instruments and methods are not usually the domain of the general ophthalmologists in his/her routine practice.
5. Focus on Research and Innovation:
The role of the retina specialists d can't be overlooked as they are usually engaged in research activities for development of new treatments and technologies to control retinal diseases. This is the area they are proficient about and, therefore, they can give patients the latest and newest treatment approved by the health agencies.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while both general ophthalmologists and retina specialists play essential roles in eye care, their areas of expertise and the conditions they treat differ significantly. General ophthalmologists provide comprehensive eye care, while retina specialists specialize in the diagnosis and management of retinal and vitreous diseases. Knowing the difference between these two types of specialists can help patients make informed decisions about their eye care and seek the appropriate treatment when needed. To prevent your eye from diseases, retinal disorder, dryness etc. so get in touch with Eye Care Cornea Centre in Thane.

What are the tests Performed to Diagnose Glaucoma?
Tumblr media
Several tests are performed to diagnose glaucoma, a group of eye conditions that can lead to optic nerve damage and vision loss. The specific tests may vary based on the suspected type of glaucoma and the individual's eye health. Here are common tests performed to diagnose glaucoma:
1-Tonometry:
Measures intraocular pressure (IOP), which is a key risk factor for glaucoma. Elevated IOP can indicate a higher risk of glaucoma, although normal IOP does not rule out the condition.
2-Ophthalmoscopy:
Allows the eye care professional to examine the optic nerve for signs of damage. Changes in the appearance of the optic nerve head, such as cupping, may suggest glaucoma.
3-Visual Field Test (Perimetry):
Assesses the full horizontal and vertical range of what a person can see in their field of vision. Glaucoma often leads to peripheral vision loss, which can be detected through this test.
4-Gonioscopy:
Examines the drainage angle of the eye to determine if it is open or closed. This helps in classifying the type of glaucoma, such as open-angle or angle-closure glaucoma.
5-Pachymetry:
Measures the thickness of the cornea. Corneal thickness can influence intraocular pressure readings, and thin corneas may be associated with a higher risk of glaucoma.
6-Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT):
Uses light waves to create detailed cross-sectional images of the optic nerve and retina. It helps in assessing the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer, which can be indicative of glaucomatous damage.
7-Retinal Imaging:
Captures high-resolution images of the retina, helping to detect any structural changes or damage related to glaucoma.
8-Visual Acuity Test:
Measures how well an individual can see at various distances using an eye chart. While not specific to glaucoma, changes in visual acuity may be observed in advanced stages of the condition.
9-Corneal Hysteresis Measurement:
Evaluates the cornea's ability to absorb and return energy during deformation. This measurement can provide additional information about the biomechanical properties of the cornea and the risk of glaucoma progression.
It's important to note that glaucoma diagnosis is often a combination of these tests, and regular eye examinations are crucial, especially for individuals at higher risk, such as those with a family history of glaucoma or individuals over the age of 40. If you have concerns about your eye health, consult with an eye care professional for a comprehensive examination and appropriate testing.

What are common retinal disorders?
Tumblr media
Several common retinal disorders can affect the health and function of the retina. Here are some of the most prevalent ones:
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): AMD is a leading cause of vision loss in individuals over the age of 50. It affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for detailed vision. AMD can be classified as "dry" (characterized by the gradual breakdown of light-sensitive cells) or "wet" (involving abnormal blood vessel growth beneath the retina).
Diabetic Retinopathy: Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that affects the blood vessels in the retina. It can cause damage to blood vessels, leakage, swelling, and in some cases, abnormal blood vessel growth. Diabetic retinopathy can lead to vision impairment or blindness if not managed.
Retinal Detachment: Retinal detachment occurs when the retina becomes separated from the underlying tissue. It can cause sudden vision loss or a "curtain-like" effect across the field of vision. Immediate medical attention is needed to prevent permanent vision loss.
Retinal Tears and Holes: These occur when the retina's tissue becomes torn or develops a hole. They can lead to retinal detachment if not addressed promptly.
Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) and Artery Occlusion (RAO): RVO involves the blockage of retinal veins, while RAO involves the blockage of retinal arteries. These conditions can cause sudden vision loss due to reduced blood flow to the retina.
Macular Holes: A macular hole is a small break or tear in the central macula. It can lead to distorted or blurry central vision.
Epiretinal Membrane (Macular Pucker): An epiretinal membrane is a thin layer of scar tissue that forms on the surface of the retina. It can cause visual distortion and blurriness.
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP): RP is a group of inherited disorders that cause the gradual degeneration of the light-sensitive cells in the retina, leading to progressive vision loss and difficulty seeing at night.
Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR): CSR is characterized by the accumulation of fluid beneath the retina's central portion, leading to distorted or blurred central vision.
Choroidal Neovascularization (CNV): CNV is the growth of abnormal blood vessels beneath the retina and can occur in conditions like AMD, causing vision impairment.
Hypertensive Retinopathy: This condition occurs due to high blood pressure affecting the blood vessels in the retina, potentially leading to vision changes.
Each of these retinal disorders has its own unique causes, symptoms, and treatments. If you experience changes in your vision or have concerns about your retina, it's important to consult an eye care professional or retinal specialist for proper diagnosis and appropriate management. Early detection and treatment can significantly improve the outcomes of retinal disorders.

fuck… he really doesn’t know when the lines started to blur between friend and fantasy, from wanting to hang out with you to wanting you, from talking to you about your day to being bricked up hearing your voice. yet, here he was, hot water streaming down his neck, plastering damp hair to his forehead; the water pouring over his head nowhere near enough to wash his mind of you.
he’d been plagued by you, morning to night, even in his damn dreams since he tried to find a phone charger at your place.
it’s not like he was snooping, he wasn’t trying to find that sort of thing, bakugou was only trying to find your spare charger, he’d seen you put it in one of these drawers before, how was he meant to know you left your spare chargers right below all of that?
he’d slammed the drawer shut the absolute second he realised exactly what he was staring at; the bedside drawer stuffed to the brim with bright, phallic toys, a collection of smaller, rounder vibrators, something that looked awfully similar to a gag, and he heard the telltale metal clinking of at least one pair of handcuffs against the wood when he slammed it closed. embarrassing heat crawled up his neck, burning his cheeks and setting the very tips of his ears alight. stuck in the same spot, mouth half opened dumbly, his eyebrows creased in the centre of his face, all blood rushing from his brain down to his half-hard cock already straining against his pants, the need making him ache.
every hour since that, he’d spent thinking of what your wet cunt looked like swallowing the toys; so pretty and drippy, how it looked tensing around nothing when you came from the buzzing of your vibrator, how you’d look writhing and moaning handcuffed with that gag in your mouth, how your drool would stain your shirt, sticking the fabric to your skin. god, it was just so lewd, even under the purifying water, he felt dizzy, sticky, hot, sweaty, the image of your toys burnt into his retinas, no matter what he tried to distract himself with, he always saw your toys at the forefront of his mind, the perverted imagery refusing to budge from its newfound home.
bakugou groans, a deep, rough sound drowned out by the even buzzing echoing in his ears, the sound slowly building, kicking to a new level when your whine drowns it out. you always start nearly silent in his dreams, just tiny gasps escaping your parted lips when you’d nestle the toy right against your clit. you only get louder from there, your eyebrows scrunching together like his own were, marking two little tallies in the middle, tilting upwards at the centre as you pulled your lip up between your teeth. the motion did absolutely nothing to muffle your sounds, your whimpers and moans only growing louder with every heave of your chest, every passing moment with the vibrator pressed to your pulsing clit making your hips jolt into it.
you reach between your thighs with a whine that sounds all too similar to his name torn from your lips, dipping your fingertips in your slick cunt, collecting all the cum gathering at your trembling hole without even taking a breather from humping your vibrator like your life depended on it. your movements grew jerkier and jerkier the longer the intense vibrations were held to your drooling pussy, your eyes fluttering closed with a breathless shout of his name, shaky, wet thighs squeezing around your hand, even as the vibrator slipped from your grip, falling forgotten onto the sheets beneath you, the constant stimulation growing too much for you—
“fuck.” he really couldn’t help it, his hand travelling lower down his abdomen, trailing behind droplets of water still running down his torso to his hard cock, the tip already leaking from the thought of you. wrapping his fist around the base of his cock, he squeezed once before twisting his wrist, slowly jerking his cock, wondering if you were in your shower doing the same, fucking yourself on one of your toys imagining him in its place just as he wished it was your warm cunt squeezing around his dick instead of his hand.
“katsukiii—” bakugou can feel you beside him, your figure displacing the dense steam surrounding him, a heavy, thick silicone dildo hanging from the glass wall of the shower, your figure slick and soapy from the shower, damp hair sticking to the soft skin of your neck and face when you bent at the waist, lining the tip of the plastic cock up with your drooling hole. the head of the cock would slide into your cunt all too easily in his fantasies, always greedy to watch you take more and more, inch by inch sinking onto it. your mouth falls further open the more you take of the toy, the pleasure too much for you to even hold your head up by the time your ass was pressed against the cool glass, your back arching with the tip of the dildo nestled deep inside your cunt. he wonders if the curve of it would rub on your g-spot at this angle, if it would drive you crazy grinding against the glass, whining when you can’t take it anymore.
bakugou’s head falls back thinking of you reaching for the shower head, his cock pulsing in his hand when he grips the base, his muscles tensing and relaxing while he tried desperately not to cum; the image of you playing behind his eyelids making that a near impossible task. even with his eyes squeezed shut, there you are at the forefront of his mind, switching the settings of the shower head to a concentrated stream, aimed directly at your aching clit, your broken moan jolting his hips forward into his hand, stroking the length languidly. your voice wavered, repeating his name again, the stimulation inside and outside your cunt just so overwhelming.
bracing against the tile with your spare hand, you lift yourself back off the toy, the base suctioned to the glass remaining stuck as you grew quicker in your movements, starting to bounce and roll your hips in a smooth tempo. he matches the pace of your hips with his fist, his breath coming out in nothing but deep huffs. his uneven groans were nothing compared to your sweet chorus of moans and whines, an endless symphony playing in his head of “ah-ah-ah”’s and “mmmng”’s the closer you got, your cum coating the toy just like his pre was smearing all over his fist.
he can’t help the guttural sound that escapes him next, a garbled, broken version of your name when your thighs tremble, your knees only moments away from buckling from the pure bliss; the water is still aimed at your clit, even when you can’t bounce on the dildo anymore, wave after wave of pleasure drowning you until your eyes rolled into your skull and your cum gathered in a creamy ring at the base of the toy, your ass flattening against the glass as you greedily took more of the toy, intensifying the euphoria wracking through your body. he knows your toy fills your cunt so perfectly, knows how you’d hump the air to get more and more of the water aimed at your clit, unrelenting in chasing your orgasm, jolting and jerking until your knuckles turned white against the tile wall, until your voice was so high and loud it didn’t even sound like you anymore.
he wonders if you’d ever screamed taking the fake cock, if you’d ever been so overwhelmed you squealed, your pretty cunt clenching around the toy, milking the poor plastic for everything it can’t give you, or if he’d be the first to make you cum so intensely.
“ka-aa-ki—” you can’t even spit his name out, your name the same mess on his plump lips, caught so hard between sharp teeth he worries he’ll split the thin skin. all his muscles tense, his abdomen clenching low on his stomach, the veins stretching along the underside of his cock throbbing with the need to join you in the throes of pleasure, to cover your cunt in milk white cum you desperately tried to squeeze from the silicone.
your name is a choked mantra tumbling from his lips, over and over again, dark crimson eyes rolling into the back of his skull the longer you bounced on the toy, pinching sensitive nipples between your slippery, soapy fingers, dragging your orgasm out as long as you could, as long as he would, until your knees were weak and your couldn't even manage to dumbly spit out his name anymore.
“fuck.” he damn near whines, a mess of cum covering his fingers, coating his knuckles as he kept fucking his fist through the waves of his own orgasm, shivering even with the hot water running down his body, cleaning his hand even as he continued to stroke his cock, relaxing his muscles as his toes still curled, his knuckles stark white against the tile.
his head fell forward onto the cooling tile, a temporary relief for the haziness swirling around in the steam.
shit, how was he meant to look you in the eyes after this?

For the Love of God(dess) || CL16 {2}
Summary: Greek God/dess AU. You show Charles a part of your world and he shows you a part of his. Warnings: angst, fluff WC: 2.6k Part One || Two
Tumblr media
The old stone path should have been worn for all the centuries that it had been used as the entrance to Olympus but it was still as perfect as it was the first time you walked it. Nothing ever changed, not since the war ended and a new hierarchy settled among the gods. For two thousand years nothing had changed in the Eternal City.
“Love, what have you done?” The imposing form of Ares filled the road to your temple, his arms the size of your waist. His molten red eyes barely glanced at the man at your side before snapping back with a double take. “Kàrolos?”
“Uh, so everyone keeps saying,” he answered quietly, his eyes sizing up the God of War as he spoke for the first time since arriving through the portal. “And you are?”
“Intrigued,” Ares said with a smirk. “Good luck.”
The god vanished and Charles rubbed at his head, murmuring, “Fucking weird dream.”
“You’ll wake up soon,” you sighed. It might not be the wake up he expected, but it was coming - you just had to find Athena. “I know someone who can help make sense of this, we just need to get you back to my place first. It’s right over h-” your words froze as turned towards your temple.
Where grey stone walls had stood, great white pillars of marble rose. Where empty garden beds lay, hundreds of white roses bloomed.
Your temple had been restored.
“This is your home?” Charles asked, a little awestruck by the sounds of it. It was quite amusing that he walked among the gods but he found beauty in a building of all things.
“Our home.”
“I have a home - in Monaco.”
You opened your mouth to argue but saw the quiet desperation in his features. He was clinging to his humanity and it forced you to remember that this wasn’t the Kàrolos you knew, this was a stranger. The only resemblance they held were their eyes, but they were the window to the soul and they still had the same soul.
“Let’s just go inside.”
The doors beyond the marble arch swung open on your approach and the interior had changed just as much. The vast room was open to the sunlight and a fountain filled the centre, the sound of bubbling water a calming feature. Open arches led to more rooms but you made your way to the furthest one.
Charles followed sedately into the bedroom and out onto the balcony that overlooked the city. Above rose the peak which Zeus had claimed, his golden palace glittering beneath Apollo’s sunshine. Below, the forests of Artemis spread far and wide with lush green canopies and the Orlias river winding through it.
Your palms warmed on the stone railing as you watched a herd of deer pick their way to the river for a drink. “I know you have a million questions and I’m sorry for…everything.”
Charles’ shoulder leaned into yours as he drank in the scenery but he jumped back when an owl swooped in, the spotted wings brushing his cheek. A flash of light burst from the owl and bare feet touched down on the balcony.
“Hmmm, you have had quite the night, Love,” she said with an appreciative look over Charles. She reached out to his face with a smile and wiggled her fingers. “May I?”
“Why? What are you going to do? Who are you?”
“So many questions,” she laughed. “I am Athena, I am knowledge, and if you want the answers then you will let me touch you.”
He looked to you for help and gods damned if it didn’t make something in your chest hurt before you nodded. He swallowed the fear of the unknown and trusted you as he stepped into her waiting hands. Lightning shattered his brain, blinding him with flashes of images that moved too fast to see. But he knew. Knowledge expanded and exploded in his mind at an exponential rate until he knew everything. Thousands of years of history burned into his retina in less than a second. The history of the gods and goddesses that called this place home. The history of the wars and the destruction it brought. The history of you and everything you lost.
He knew it all. And it hurt more than the pain that splintered his head.
He didn’t even realise he collapsed until he felt the softest mattress dip beneath his weight as you laid him down. Your concerned face appeared above him, the sun catching your hair and weaving a golden halo around the strands. A thought crossed his mind and he laughed, shaking his head.
“What?” you asked curiously as his fingers twitched like he had to fight the urge to reach out to you.
“When we met I thought you looked like a goddess, but of course you do. You are.” He looked to the balcony but the owl had already taken flight back to her palace on the hill. “I’m not him, you know.”
“I know.” The man you loved had died a long time ago. You had your time together, no matter how short, and you had mourned for him. It was time to move on. “I don’t want you to be Kàrolos. I want to learn who you are, Charles.”
“And what if you don’t like who I am?”
“I am the Goddess of Love,” you teased, climbing onto the bed to sit beside him. “My arrows don’t work unless there is compatibility between the souls. Psyche is probably better off explaining that but my power only amplifies what attraction is already there. Can’t say I have been on the receiving end of it before. This will take some getting used to.”
“What will?”
“The want, the need to touch you,” you confessed as you looked down at your hands that gripped the bedspread tightly. “It is difficult to be this close and not reach out.”
Charles frowned. “You loved Kàrolos but you didn’t use an arrow?”
“Not everyone needs an arrow to fall in love. Like I said, it only amplifies. People find love on their own everyday, only some need a little poke in the right direction. Those friends who have been dancing around each other for years, the abused who don’t think they are worthy of being loved, the colleagues who only flirt at work. The fates weave their tapestry with a trillion threads of life and when there is a snag, like two lovers who failed to meet, then I repair it so the loom can continue its creation.”
Charles blinked as he began to understand how complex the roles of the gods were. “Fuck.”
You laughed and his lips tugged up at the sound.
“I don’t mind, if you want to touch me,” he admitted quietly, reaching for your hand and unfurling it from the bedding. His hand was larger than yours but your fingers settled between his comfortably and your body sagged with relief. “So what do we do now?”
You shrugged, not exactly knowing the answer yourself. Time was plentiful so there was no rush, but you were eager to find out who it was your heart had been given to. “What do you enjoy?”
Charles’ smile dropped as he suddenly remembered the world he had left behind. “Shit, we need to go back. I have a race this week.”
“Breaking News: Peace had been brokered between nations all over the globe in a dramatic turn of events. For more information we will be heading to our correspondent at the United Nations HQ…”
Charles turned off the TV in the hotel but he didn’t miss the way your eyes remained fixed on the screen, or the way your lip wobbled. Crossing the room, he grabbed your hands and bent his knees so you were eye to eye. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s my fault,” you whispered through the lump in your throat. “I failed my duties.”
He looked back at the TV where you could still see the breaking news. Peace had come after two thousand years of skirmishes and wars on the mortal plane. There should have never been wars to begin with.
“That isn’t your fault,” he argued, but he had the knowledge of the gods, he understood how your power worked. The gods were a fragile ecosystem that required balance. You were the balance to Ares’ power and his effect on the world.
“I was weakened when Kàrolos died, I lost half of myself, half of my strength. It left Ares unchecked - of course it is my fault.”
Charles wrapped his arms around you, tucking your head into the crook of his neck so you couldn’t stare at the TV. “You’re making things right now, that’s what matters.”
“It’s not even me,” you laughed bitterly. “It’s you. I couldn’t do this on my own.”
“Come on,” he said as he started to drag you towards the door.
“Where are we going?”
“You need a distraction, and I know just the thing.”
Charles drove to the circuit he would be practising on in the morning and it was relatively quiet as he led you through the paddock. A few teenagers excitedly asked for photos with him and you smiled as he stopped to talk with each one. He was so different to Kàrolos. Kàrolos was a warrior, proud and unmoving. Most children gave him a wide berth when they saw the scars that littered his body. It wasn’t in him to idly chatter or placate others, the only soft spot he had was for you.
“You’re very patient,” you commented as he waved goodbye and continued to the edge of the track.
He smiled shyly and looked at his shoes as he shrugged. “I try my best to talk to fans, especially when I have the time. Take a few laps with me?”
You followed his gaze to a Ferrari that was parked in the pit lane. “I’ve never been in a car.”
“No, really?” His eyes were wide with disbelief and you laughed at the innocence in those eyes.
“I go where I want, I’ve never needed to drive.”
He grabbed your hand and excitement flowed through you as he set a quick pace to the car. “Trust me?” he asked as he opened the passenger door.
You were immortal so it didn’t matter if he crashed. Sure, it would hurt but you would eventually heal. But the question felt heavier than just asking if you trusted him not to crash, more that you could trust him to keep you safe. “Yes, I trust you, Charles.”
You slipped into the seat that was moulded to cradle you before he bent down and buckled the clips in for you. His cologne reached your nose at the close proximity and you inhaled deeper as you committed the rich scent to your memory.
“Is this comfortable?” he asked as he tugged the harness.
“It is…managable.” Restrictive, confined, and claustrophobic came to mind but you didn’t want to worry him as he went around to his side. There was energy in his step that had been missing in Olympus, an ambience that brightened the moment he arrived at the racing track, and you wanted to keep that light in his aura.
“We’ll take the first one slow,” he promised as he started the engine and gripped the wheel.
You had flown into battle on the back of a pegasus, you had held onto the fins of charybdis as they raced through Posiden’s domain. Nothing came close to the thrill and the speed of Charles’ car.
Your heart jumped up your throat as you were thrown back into the seat and then the world around you blurred. Everything faded away except for the window ahead and you didn’t dare blink in case you missed a moment. There were no thoughts on the what ifs of the future, or the regrets of your past. There was only the car, and Charles grinning at you.
“Are you sure this is slow?” you asked with a giddy laugh as the adrenaline reached your head and the initial surprise was erased.
“Hold on, cherie.” The engine roared louder and like a beast it leapt forward. A scream of exhilaration filled the car as Charles lassoed the metal beast and wrangled it through each corner until he finally slowed to return to the pit lane.
“I finally understand the obsession,” you admitted as he parked back where he had left. Your fingers were almost stiff where they had gripped the harness over your chest and you flexed the feeling back into them before unbuckling it. “I can’t even describe it, but I feel alive - if that makes sense? I can’t think quite clearly now.”
“I understand.” Charles smiled softly and wiped away the stray tear that ran down your cheek from having your eyes wide open for so long. “It’s getting late.”
You climbed out of the car and looked up to see stars dotting the desert night sky. It felt like time stopped while you were in the car but nothing could stop time and it all came rushing back. “Can we do this again?” you asked, a little sheepish at how needy you sounded.
“Of course,” Charles promised, taking your hand as naturally as breathing. “After this race it’s winter break and I am all yours.” He stumbled and caught himself. “I mean, if you want to hang out and, uh, stuff. I don’t have any plans, but if you do we can figure something ou-”
You rose onto your toes and kissed his cheek that was turning pink in the moonlight and he fell silent. “I don’t have any plans either.”
Charles stared at your lips, still feeling the warmth on his cheek and he touched the skin as a smile tugged at his lips and he nodded to himself. “Okay. Okay.”
“You’re cute,” you said as you felt the urge to kiss his lips next.
His nose wrinkled at the compliment. “Cute?”
“Amongst other things,” you added, biting your lip to keep your other thoughts to yourself.
He grew confident and curled his finger under your chin, his thumb brushing over your bottom lip and pulling it free from your teeth. “You’re beautiful.”
Your lungs refused to work as his head dipped down slowly, giving you time to change your mind. You could still feel the remnants of that thrill in your veins and the charge was electric as you gave into your desire and threw your arms around his neck. The kiss started slowly, hesitation holding you both back as you tasted the chemistry, but it grew deeper as his arms curled around your waist, pulling your bodies flush.
The track faded away as you spared one last critical thought to teleport back to the hotel room. Charles blinked as he looked around the bedroom, but the surprise turned to a smirk. “That is handy.”
“You can do it too,” you said as your fingers traced the hem of his shirt. “You can just have to picture the image in your mind.”
Cold kissed your skin and you looked down to see your own shirt had disappeared.
“Holy shit, it worked,” he gasped. “Oh, shit, sorry.”
Your shirt returned in an instant but it was now the same shade of red as his team colours.
“I wasn’t complaining,” you smirked but the humour dimmed as his hands came to rest on your waist that was still wrapped in red cotton. “We can take it slow, Charles.”
“Is that what you want?”
“I want you, not your regrets. I want you to be ready.” Ready for an eternity together.
Charles sat at the edge of the bed and pulled you onto his lap. “The first thing you should know about me is I have never been good at going slow,” he admitted as he cupped your cheek and crushed his lips to yours.

Hello!
Truthfully, I know only surface level information about DC, but I've really enjoyed all your fics for the Batfam💕
Only take this request if it sparks something for you and you can write whatever form, being HCs, imagine, etc!
I'd like to request something for a (gn) civilian reader who is friends w/ the Batfam, but recently got superpowers that are magical girl-esque. I imagine reader was in the wrong place, wrong time situation w/ some criminals and got powers from an alien artifact. Their powers are sparkely and elegant but pretty flashy as well. Their tranaformation actually stuns people into watching and a lot of their moves only work if there is flair and finesse to them.
Reader is already struggling w/ if they want to be a new vigilante, but they’re mostly embarrassed by how showy and pretty their powers are in comparison to the dark and brooding Batfam. They feel out of place next to them and hate becoming the center of attention.
Sorry if this idea is a bit out there, but ty for letting me be indulgent in your ask box 💕 Love your writing!!

The first thing you recalled was the pain. Fiery and burning, radioactive through your veins. The second was the light. So bright that it was practically burned into your retinas. And the third was the ringing sensation that was too stubborn to leave your ears. It made your head throb and your eyes water. The city is cold as you walk through the streets, wandering aimlessly with little to nowhere to go and with even less to do.
Not too long ago, you found yourself in a bit of a situation. A ‘wrong place, wrong time’ kind of situation. The feeling of icy cold fingers wrapping around you will never leave your mind. The feeling of being tied down and exposed to…whatever it was they used to experiment with will always have a permanent place in your mind. And although the memories were there…..most of them were hazy. Glimpses. Fragments of memories. You thought that perhaps you were in and out of consciousness. Or that whatever strange artifact you were exposed to fucked with your mind. Nevertheless, you now have these….strange abilities. Beautiful, yet strange. Enthralling.
“Still brooding?” A voice sounded behind you, light, full of amusement and belonging to none other than Dick Grayson clad from head-to-toe in his nightwing get up; black except for a splash of blue across his chest and over his shoulders.
“It’s not brooding” you corected, hardly sparing him a glance before continuing down the street. You had encountered the vigilantes many times. Sometimes you found yourself on the same case as them. And each and every time they would come practically begging for you to join them. Tim, Dick’s little brother had pieced together your situation alarming quickly. He knew you had nowhere to go. So in came offer after offer for you to join them. You had repeatedly declined. Not that you didn’t like the vigilantes; in fact you found them rather amusing. It was the fact that you felt out of place with abilities like yours. It was easier to work alone.
“Oh yeah?” Dick caught up with you quickly, his larger strides matching your own with ease. “Then what would you call it?”
“None of your business, that’s what.” You replied, but there was a soft grin on your lips.
Nightwing just tilted his head with an unamused look.
“What’s that look for?” You teased, continuing to walk.
“Come on. You know what i'm going to ask”
“No.” You answer immediately.
“But–”
“No.”
“Why not? You’re wasting your potential here.”
“Because.”
Dick let out a frustrated sigh, deadpanning at you as he brought the two of you to a stop. “You’re impossible.”
“No. it's embarrassing.”
Dick’s eyebrows shoot up at that. “Embarrassing?”
“My powers are…flashy. I don’t want to be the centre of attention. It’s embarrassing.”
He frowned, eyebrows knitting together as he turned to face you. “You’re embarrassed of them?”
“....i guess.”
“Sweetheart, look at me. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Seriously.”
“No?”
Dick looks at you as if you committed a crime. “Course not. What you’ve got is really special.”
“You think so?”
“I know so.” He says. “I'm serious. Your powers could save lives, Kid. Consider it.”
“I……fine.”
“You’re serious?” His face lights up. “You’ll join us.”
“Yes. But don’t get used to it. I won’t always let you get your way.”

"Love? Are you alright?"
The two of them had been lounging together in the Undercroft for the last hour. She laid on the ground, her head on his lap as he gently ran a hand through her hair and let his fingertips drift on her face, imprinting her in his memories like he did every day.
That was until she squinted her eyes and squeezed them shut, wincing slightly.
"Headache," she simply replied, for what felt like the millionth time that week. His heart dropped in concern.
"Don't you think it's time to pay a visit to Nurse Blainey?" He asked and pressed his thumb on the centre of her forehead, between her eyebrows, to rub soothing circles.
"I'll be fine. I'm used to them," she replied. That only heightened his worry.
"I don't want you to be in pain, love. Please promise me you'll pay her a visit," he sighed, his tone pretendedly calm and collected, although she knew it was only a façade.
He glided a hand on her scalp, gently massaging her head.
"I just need an analgesic, is all," she sighed, leaning her head further into his lap.
"You've been taking an awful lot of medication lately, all because of these headaches. I'm sure the nurse will see to it and decide the best route to take. Why won't you–"
"There's nothing to worry about Ominis, it's just my eyes," she interrupted, slurring her words a bit as drowsiness gradually overcame her body at his gentle ministrations.
He stopped in his tracks, his hand stilling as he took in her words, and she groaned in displeasure.
"Y-Your eyes? Are you—? Did something happen to your eyes?" He asked, now even more worried as his fingers slowly found her eyelids. "Are you losing your sight?"
She looked up at him and gave him a small smile, and he felt her cheekbones bump the side of his palm as she did so.
"No, love, I just…" She sighed again, taking his hand in hers and placing a kiss on his knuckles. "I've been studying a lot lately for our exams, you know, and I think I've been straining my eyes quite a bit."
He nodded in understanding, his chest a little lighter, but he still felt that same dejection, learning that she had been in pain for the last week.
"You need to rest, love. Close your eyes," he whispered, resuming his massage on her scalp and forehead. "So what do you feel when it happens?"
She hummed, letting her head fall back on his thighs. "They simply get very dry, and it's hard for me to keep them open. The light hurts, and before I know it, I feel the back of my eyes hurting."
"Ah," he nodded again, his hands slow and steady and he attempted to soothe her pain. He didn't know what it was like to feel pain in his eyes because of straining, but he tried to imagine it. He recalled the time when Marvolo poked his eyelids with his wand as a mockery for his blindness, and the pain he felt back then, and he shivered. If that was what she was feeling, then he would not have her suffer like that.
"Come on, I'll take you to the Hospital Wing," he said earnestly, ceasing his movements and motioning for her to stand up.
"I don't need that, Ominis, I simply need a pain-relieving potion or pill and I'll be fine," she said quietly. The relaxing atmosphere had brought her to a slumber, and despite her nerves burning, she felt the pain slowly wash away as her eyes rested.
"I won't take no for an answer."
She exhaled softly and let her eyelids flutter open, wincing at the light of the torches around her. As she stood up, she felt the pain come back like a boulder falling on her retinas. She sighed and ignored it, standing up and feeling that familiar sense of nausea she grew accustomed to.
"Let's go, then."
She followed Ominis as he zealously guided her through the corridors, her eyes falling shut every once in a while when the lights were too bright or the chattering around them too loud.
As expected, Nurse Blainey scolded her for being careless with her health, and gave her a Pain-soothing Potion, just as she had previously told the blond.
"You need glasses, Miss," the Nurse said curtly, before leaving the room and muttering under her breath.
"Glasses? You have never told me you had an eye condition," Ominis said, quirking up a brow, silently demanding an explanation. She sighed again.
"I've had myopia for a while, and it can't be cured with magic for some reason. I just… My glasses make my eyes hurt even more, so I don't wear them," she shrugged, hoping he would drop the subject. He didn't.
"Perhaps you need to switch your prescription, or buy new lenses that fit your eyes," he said gently, taking her hand in his again. "You can't carry on like this and be in pain everyday. I hate seeing you unwell."
She nodded, "okay," and rested her head on the pillow of her hospital bed. The blond sat on the chair next to it and began caressing her hand soothingly.
"Next time we go to London, we will pay a visit to a muggle eye doctor. And don't protest," he added as he heard her breath hitch as if about to answer him. She bit her lip.
"As you wish. If it makes you feel better or…" She squeezed his hand slightly, "...less worried."
"It does," he then gave her a fond smile. "You'll be well again in no time."
They stayed like this for a while, with Ominis caressing her hand and massaging her temples as she drifted off to sleep, finally relieved of her pain.

Today our guest of honour for eye ailment is Photokeratitis. Have you spent hours in the sun grilling and feeling the heat? In another way, it can look like sunburn On your eyes. This happens when the peppers come in direct contact with ultraviolet (UV) light, leaving sunburn. These UV rays zap the cornea, making it feel irritated, tearing, and red.

Sezak had never seen a leather jacket before. What cause would someone ever have to wear another's skin? It struck him as alarming, to say the least.
Exposure risk wasn't something he or many others ever considered: His people were designed for efficiency, just like the rest of the spacefaring races. Or, that's what he assumed. It's common knowledge, isn't it?
Genome mapping is just the norm, and entire civilisations have been curated from raw materials, Sezak's included. It's far more energy and resource efficient than terraforming, in any case. That's what it takes to reach the stars: curated efficiency.
No one ever did it just by trial-and-error, did they?
But here was Suri, a Human, wearing the skin of... what did she call it? Some other kind of mammal, he forgot the name. Something absurdly simple. Anyway, apparently this is just normal for Humans!
"But why?" Sezak asked, incredulous. "What's the point?"
"Well, these days thanks to climate control and artificial atmosphere, it's mostly a style thing. But you know, early humans back on earth, why would you just leave a perfectly good skin to rot when you could wear it for protection?"
"Protection from what!? Under what circumstance are you finding an unused skin?? Wait-- is this another religious thing? I've heard that Humans have a lot of those, and they don't always make sense from the outside."
Suri looked confused (or constipated? Human faces are deceptively complex, it takes a long time to learn how to read them), and seemed to be studying Sezak for a moment. Her eyes darted over his synthetic clothing briefly, with its cultural flairs and decorative adornments, all carrying the signature texture of replicated matter.
Then, with sudden clarity, "Oh! Humans weren't curated, mostly we're organic."
Well, that's just absurd.
Sezak muffled his involuntary 'kek-kek' with a quick apology, covering his mandibles.
"Pardon me, that means your entire lineage came from raw evolution. That takes billions of years, I find it very unlikely."
"Yeah," Suri was nonplussed. "The leather is a throwback to when our ancestors had to survive in the wild. We hunted our meat, then used what was left for tools and clothing. It's actually a pretty proud part of our history; Earth was habitable, but definitely not easy."
Now it was Sezak's turn to look constipated, which never happened because his people weren't curated with such a terrible design flaw.
"So humans just bumbled their way into space on their own, like a larva figuring out how to fly? All... clumsy and inelegant, and... Messy? Without any outside help? Without any climate-matching!? Is that why you have those absurd suits!?"
"Yeah, it's also why our bodies just malfunction in weird ways for no obvious reason," Suri looked a little too amused at Sezak's undisguised horror - not that Humans are essentially raw nebula mobilised by a star's age of convenient mutations, but that they exist in such a state of volatility with no apparent qualms about it.
"Oh great wells," Sezak breathed, reeling from his new perspective. "So many of you wear leather. Hold on, is that why Vikram is always visiting the health centre?"
Suri's eyes crinkled, and she bared her teeth -- in a laugh, okay. Sezak recognised the 'kek-kek' noise humans make in thrill, though theirs is a more glottal 'hach-hach'.
"Yes, Vikram has auto-immune issues. Which means that sometimes, his immune system will attack his own body depending on the irritant. Or weather. Or his cortisol levels."
Sezak stared at Suri for a long time, trying to figure out if she was pranking him.
"I think I have a lot of reading to do," he muttered, incredulous.
"Start with the human eye, it's an absolute mess. Do you know how little it takes to detach a human retina?"
"WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS"

Is there an age limit for receiving scleral fixated IOLs?
Tumblr media
Certainly, here's the answer in bullet points:
No Strict Age Limit: There is no strict age limit for receiving scleral fixated intraocular lenses (IOLs).
Individualized Decision: The decision to use scleral fixated IOLs is based on the individual patient's ocular health and specific eye conditions rather than a specific age criterion.
Consideration of Eye Conditions: Scleral fixated IOLs are considered when the natural lens capsule is compromised or inadequate for lens placement due to conditions such as weak or damaged lens support structures, traumatic cataracts, or dislocated lenses.
Case-by-Case Basis: The candidacy for scleral fixated IOLs is determined on a case-by-case basis through a thorough examination by an ophthalmologist or eye surgeon.
Factors Considered: Factors such as the patient's overall health, the specific eye condition, and the potential benefits and risks of the procedure are taken into account in the decision-making process.
Consultation with Eye Care Professional: Individuals considering scleral fixated IOLs should consult with an eye care professional who can provide personalized advice based on their unique circumstances.
