Miraculous Ladybug AU for phinabella though

OK ANON HERE I AM PHINABELLA MIRACULOUS AU LET’S GO. I’ve literally been thinking about this since you sent it and I have SO MANY IDEAS (many of which are inspired by “The Beak”...LOL)

So a few things before we get into character stuff: I imagine this AU taking place a few summers after the summer Phineas and Ferb primarily takes place in (so it takes place with the same versions of the characters we know, not with alternate reality versions of them). Idk whether or not the Miraculous are still magical in this AU. They’re either exactly like they are in Miraculous Ladybug OR they are technology developed by OWCA to give humans animal powers (but if we go with the latter I have to figure out WHY OWCA needs humans in the first place, lol)

ok so CHARACTER STUFF. This AU starts when the kiddos are first starting high school. This means Isabella is starting to try and get over Phineas and Phineas is starting to realize he’s got feelings for Isabella. They’re still best friends but things are a little awkward and different between them now.

ENTER THE MIRACULOUS. Phineas gets the Ladybug (because I mean power of creation? that’s 100% Phineas) and Isabella gets the Black Cat (she would also be great with the Ladybug, but I think she’d be better with the Black Cat than Phineas...Phineas might get freaked out with the power of Destruction).

MORE RAMBLING UNDER THE CUT

I am not sure why Isabella and Phineas are given the miraculous in the first place, maybe a hawkmoth-esque villain starts wreaking havoc and they receive the miraculous to stop them. (The Hawkmoth character is PROBABLY not related to Phineas or Isabella in this AU, that’s just too much angst. I haven’t really decided who Hawkmoth is yet, but that isn’t really important here). Isabella and Phineas don’t know each other’s identities (and we’re just going to count HEAVILY on the Miraculous magically disguising their identities because I know their heads are very distinctive, LOL), and they can’t reveal them to each other because it’s dangerous, I guess.

Phineas and Isabella go by “The Bug” and “The Cat,” respectively (taking some inspiration from “The Beak” here! I think they’d just go with simple names). Phineas’s weapon is still a yo-yo, and Isabella has a silver sash that can whip out and take the shape of a staff if she needs it to (because she’s Isabella, she HAS to have a sash). And also Isabella’s eyes stay blue when transformed.

Isabella/Phineas:

Like I said earlier, Isabella and Phineas are still best friends, but Isabella is CONVINCED Phineas will never feel anything romantic for her and is trying very, very hard to get over him. Phineas, meanwhile, is gradually beginning to realize he’s got feelings for Isabella, but he’s still an oblivious bean and worries she won’t feel the same way (and he has NO IDEA she likes him back). So there’s no over the top plans to confess or anything, just sweet moments. Over the course of the story, Phineas falls for Isabella more and more.

Cat/Bug:

So in their superhero personas, Isabella and Phineas are a perfect team. They’re both natural leaders and take the reins in different scenarios. (so it’s different from the dynamic of Ladybug and Chat Noir, in which Ladybug is assuredly the leader). Because Isabella and Phineas have been working together their entire lives and are already very in sync—even if they don’t realize it—neither of them has to be the defacto leader (although in a PINCH, Isabella probably emerges as the leader, just because she’s ISABELLA). Tbh, their dynamic isn’t too different from the Phinabella dynamic in the regular show (which is good, because the ACTUAL Phinabella dynamic in this AU is a little awkward and hesitant).

At first they start off as friends, just friends, but Isabella gradually realizes she’s starting to develop feelings for the Bug. This scares her a little at first (and also makes her feel a little guilty, because what about Phineas?), but she eventually reasons it’s okay to feel things for him and that he isn’t Phineas and maybe this is good and helping her move on (plus having feelings for him just feels RIGHT for some reason). I don’t think she goes out of her way to flirt with him, though...she’s done that with Phineas and it never works so she doesn’t do it with Bug. (the irony here is she doesn’t REALIZE she’s still pining after Phineas.) as the story develops, she falls for him more and more….even though there are still lingering feelings for Phineas in her heart. (and perhaps she comes to realize the qualities she admires in the Bug are also ones she admires in Phineas and has a bit of a crisis). So it isn’t like in miraculous Ladybug where Chat is head over heels for Ladybug and VERY OBVIOUS about it. It’s more subtle on Isabella’s part.

Phineas admires Cat greatly and respects her SO MUCH and almost instantly considers her one of his best friends, but he doesn’t like her romantically (and maybe even if he feels a SMIDGE of romantic feelings for her, he isn’t going to give in to that! because he’s finally realizing he loves Isabella, he can’t be interested in anyone else!) and is 100% oblivious to the fact that she likes him. Which is painfully ironic for multiple reasons. LOL.

Isabella calls Bug her “little ladybug,” but I am not sure what Phineas calls her. Maybe he just calls her “Cat.” I’ve gotta brainstorm that a bit more, lol.

Isabella/Bug

Basically Ladrien. Soft, blushy, adorable. And different! Because unlike Ladrien, where the characters have known each other for the same amount of time, Phineas has known Isabella for WAY LONGER than she’s known him as “The Bug” so he has to be VERY CAREFUL not to say anything that could give his identity away whenever they interact. Isabella is also just as resourceful out of the suit, so she’s able to assist Bug on occasion (which only makes him fall for her even MORE).

Cat/Phineas

Ok so this relationship is a lot like Marichat but it’s also different because Isabella “used to be” (is totally still) in love with Phineas. Phineas has no idea Cat is in love with him in his superhero persona (and of course he has no idea Isabella “used to be” in love with him). I’m imagining some sort of balcony scene (though it would probably be more of a “roof of the Flynn-Fletcher house” scene, lol) in which Isabella sees Phineas sitting up there alone while suited up and goes to talk to him to make sure he’s alright:

“Hey...whatcha--UH--what are you up to?”

After a bit of prodding, Phineas tells Cat about the girl he likes and how he feels like he lost time and that things are different between them now. Isabella is saddened by that (because of course she still likes him), but she encourages him anyway and is like “you should tell her how you feel! you don’t want to regret not telling her...” (she’s speaking from experience, lol). And at some point, Phineas lets it slip that he’s talking about Isabella and she’s like “now hOLD UP JUST A SECOND—”. So it’s like the balcony scene in Miraculous Ladybug, but REVERSED. (and idk what would happen after this, but it would probably be very soft.)

Some Extra Stuff

Akumatization is still a thing in this AU (although, again, it could either be magical or technology-assisted akumatization).

I’m preeeetty sure Ferb knows Phineas is The Bug, and maaaaaybe he eventually figures out Isabella is the Cat? This means he cannot get akumatized...because if he does....aNGST.

Eventually there’s a reveal and of COURSE Isabella and Phineas get together right afterward (and maybe they’re already together as civilians, due to the “rooftop” scene I talked about earlier, and finding out their identities just makes everything fall into place, idk).

There are NO alternate love interests in this AU. None of that. Nope. Just Isabella and Phineas. Being in love. (And of course the other PnF characters are there too....just not as potential love interests. LOL.)

unfortunately i haven’t figured out a lot more of it yet, but i’ll throw together the handful of extra stuff i’ve gotten since the first post! [i tried drawing something to get myself in the mood to Think About It but unfortunately that didn’t jump start my train of thought the way i’d hoped it would :pensive:]

i think in the original post i jokingly described this au as act your age but good and that’s pretty much what i’m running with now lmao - i’m thinking similar timeframe as aya [the main kids all being 18-19], so a lot of the narrative in nitw that was built around mae returning home is swapped out for one about the pnf kids taking a final look at danville before leaving. it’s kinda the same theme as nitw proper but inverted which i think would be kinda cool narratively, as well as something that’d be really good to work with in the context of a phineas and ferb au.

the main plot would probably take place during late august [the harfest storyline could possibly be switched for something similar involving phineas’ birthday?], but i’m still going to put leaves everywhere if i draw this au again because i’m gay for the autumn aesthetic

i’m probably gonna drop at least some of the plot beats/hangouts if they feel out of character for the pnf gang, but as decided on discord, the knife fight definitely stays

phineas is helping isabella with grocery shopping and making dinner all peaceful and calming meanwhile ferb and buford are out in the goddamn woods stabbing each other in the hands and periodically yelling ‘ow fuck’ at each other [alternatively the pairs can be swapped. i can’t decide which scenario is funnier between phineas being handed a knife and absolutely PANICKING because this is not what he wanted to do out here he is not at ALL emotionally equipped to stab or be stabbed what if he hurts buford or ferb calmly stabbing buford in the hand and just watching him yell something to the effect of YOU MOTHERFUCKER I WASN’T READY]

if i do end up taking this au any further i’m REALLY interested to get into character development for buford because like. dude is lowkey king shit and gregg’s arc in his route has a lot of similarities to my personal headcanons for how buford develops as a person in the future, so it’ll definitely be cool as hell to explore him as a character through that lens.

it feels impossible to make future pnf content without phinabella being touched on but i’m kinda torn between establishing that they’re in some sort of relationship, establishing that they’re NOT in some sort of relationship and are both completely okay with that, or having the relationship or lack thereof develop over the course of the story. i’ll probably go for the last one because that’s an easy backdoor to character development but eh, i feel like the phinabella will-they-won’t-they bullshit is kind of tired. still, this is an opportunity for me to introduce more people to arospec phineas and queerplatonic phinabella, so if the au goes into phinabella at all i promise it will be more interesting than exhausting heterosexuality

i think i had a point to make about the band segment but i forgot while i was busy drawing this bad mockup in ms paint so. here’s the bad mockup from ms paint. you play bass as ferb because phineas does vocals and as hilarious as it is to envision phineas’ voice cracking every time you fuck up i don’t think i could handle that emotionally

i think that does it for miscellaneous thoughts! i’m totally willing to answer any more specific questions though i’d love to flesh this au out more

(PnF) Headcanon #15 TnMtober Pt.1,3,4,5 and 6

For those who aren't aware, this month is the official Marie and Thomas month, with a event calendar and everything(you can find the calendar here https://twitter.com/MartitaSketches/status/1445413673585942532/photo/1) Most people are drawing things for this month, but I can't draw. So I decided instead to post some headcanons for each day. I'm a little late, so this post with contain days 1-6(Excluding 2 which will be a whole post on it's own). Enjoy! Day 1: Video Games A)Haven Hologram is an improved version of Phineas and Ferb's gaming console from season one. It is controlled via a headset, hand controllers, and feet controllers. It connects to all sense except for touch so that the wearer won't experience physical pain while playing. It's akin to controlling a hologram of whatever character your playing in whatever game your playing. B)I came up with gamertags and favorite Smash Bros. Ultimate characters for the main group of Marie and Thomas. Jasmine's gamertag is RicksRollsRoyce cause she is a meme queen, and she likes playing with Solid Snake cause kickbutt personality. Destiny's gamertag is NautUndercover as a reference to Psychonauts and she plays as Banjo and Kazooie which was her first plateformer, she is a gamer through and through. Xavier's gamertag is Barrell_Roll, and he plays Star Fox cause that is his favorite game of all time. Fred's gamertag is Fred-T-Noobish(he used a random tag generator cause he doesn't no the first thing about gaming), and he plays as Kirby quite a bit. Maria's gamertag is the same as her email address which is MadameE, and she likes playing Sonic the most. Lastly, is Thomas whose gamertag is TheGame, and he likes to play as Princess Zelda. Day 3: Kids A)I've always headcanon'd that Maria was born with diabetes instead of just getting super hyper from sugar(it's also what I headcanon as having ended the life of Phineas Father; Phelan & Phineas and Isabella's first child; Vincent). So, when she's a kid, I always imagine Maria being very isolated due to specifically her father's fears which is why she's not good around others and usually becomes insecure or nervous. Most kids she grew up with didn't feel comfortable around her as they were children and had a difficult time controlling themselves enough for her to be safe around them. Thomas was really the only person allowed around her that wasn't afraid to treat her like a normal kid, and he was the only one her parents really trusted to be safe around her. I headcanon Thomas was not only a quiet kid, but a very curious one as Ferb is shown in the show to be up for almost anything for curiosities sake. Thomas found Maria to be interesting considering she was the only kid in their close family to be younger than him, he(Feb. 27th, 2024) was four/five-ish months old when she(June. 3rd, 2024) was born. Their parents, of course, spent quite a bit of time together meaning so did they. Thomas' mother and father loved Maria like their own daughter, and his aunt and uncle loved Thomas just the same. He got to help his Aunt 'take care' of her when she was basically helpless, and as Maria got older she felt most comfortable around him. That was true for him too as he didn't really feel like their cousins(Amanda, Xavier, and Fred)understood his desire to ask questions or test limits. Day 4: Favorite Movie A)My personal favorite movie is a tie between Ponyo & Clueless, but I decided to just pick movies I thought would be the main crews favorites. I would say, Jasmine's is something like 'The Banana Splits' movie based of the TV Show of the same name due to the fact she deals with horror the best and is a jokester. Destiny's would be something like 'Detective Pikachu' as it's like the best video game movie of our time, and Jasmine & her think Ryan Ronald's is hilarious. Xavier and Fred both like the movie 'Horton Hears a Who' as the Flynn-Fletchers love Doctor Seuss. Maria's favorite would have to be 'The Care Bears Movie' when she's young, but becomes 'Clueless' when she's older(as she falls in love with the book 'Emma', tell me it isn't a perfect metaphor for her and Thomas' relationship. I don't mind the Phantom of the Opera, but I think Emma/Clueless is a WAY better fit-And healthier.). And, Thomas' favorite is no doubt 'The Illusionist' with it's detailed plot and deep characters, ya know the philosophical stuff. Day 5: Terror A)When it comes to fears these characters have I already made a list for Maria, Thomas, and Jasmine. Jasmine is afraid of having no free will & is claustrophobic. Maria has a fear of woodpeckers and of being a failure(I made this whole new dimension where I turned these characters into animals/insects, and made Maria Monarch Butterfly like her mother, this is where I headcanon the fear of Woodpeckers came from cause they eat butterflies.). Lastly, Thomas has Sociophobia(is good at hiding it), Pistanthrophobia(More Familial than Romantic, but both are fears), and Phonophobia(Specifically gunshots). I have explanations for all these fears, but I won't rant about them here. Day 6: Candyland A)Again, I can't draw, so decided to think of what the main crews favorite candy would be. Jasmine's I went with the treat 'Kismi Toffee' from her home country of India. Destiny was given 'Bamsemums' a Norwegian candy made with marshmallows and coated in a light layer of chocolate. Xavier and Fred both got 'Twix's' as their favorite candy. For Maria I kept her canonical favorite Swiss Chocolate. And, I gave Thomas 'Katjes Licorice Cats' which are a German candy shaped like cats and made of real black licorice(he likes the salted kind specifically). That's it for days 1,3,4,5 and 6. I'll get around to day 2(Second Dimension)at some point it's just that that post will basically be a summary of a story idea I've had for years now. Anyway, please leave a comment about anything you wish. Is the whole murder plot mystery still in the pnf nitw au?? (Love this au by the way!!)

[these two asks partially tie into each other so i’ll answer them together!]

i’m debating whether to include the murder mystery side of things, but if i do i’d probably have either irving or django be casey. django is arguably the better choice because his characterisation is sparse enough that he’s the easiest to kill off, but i really don’t vibe with irving and would love an opportunity to not write him whjnfdkjnf

the idea of the legitimate, permanent death of a named recurring character is really dark for a phineas and ferb storyline [and yeah, ballooney, but he was a balloon and the whole thing is played for laughs more than anything], so i’m on the fence about it, but given that it’s one of the major plot threads in nitw i’m not sure if it’d even be possible to remove it completely. maybe replace murder with kidnapping? that’d honestly fall more in line with lovemuffin’s general level of threat, going with them as the cult, so actually i think i’ll go with that middle ground now that i’ve thought of it

the boiler sequence would play out differently, but the basic premise would still be there. phineas comes and helps isabella to fix the boiler at her family’s restaurant [the one from aya, which is functionally the same as the ol pickaxe] but they get locked in by accident, leading him to take the most unnecessarily complicated way out and somehow turn the boiler into the loudest thing on the fucking planet so someone comes and lets them out while isabella desperately tries to convince him to just bang on the fucking door like a normal person

as opposed to mae’s violent tendencies, phineas’ Big Problem is his complexity addiction, which flares up when he’s stressed and prevents him from seeing the obvious way out - he’s worried that the simple solution won’t be enough, or that something could go wrong, or that taking the ‘easy’ way will somehow disappoint the people around him. combined with the fact that he apparently relieves stress by inventing stuff it’s only natural that the more pressure a situation is putting on him, the more he’ll be inclined to overthink the solution even when a simple alternative is available, and since he’s WAY more stressed than usual during the story events between his interpersonal relationships being strained and having a missing friend and his first year of college without ferb by his side rapidly approaching, the moment anything even slightly abnormal happens his ability to answer a simple problem with a simple solution goes right out the fucking window. the boiler incident isn’t the first time in the story that this issue presents itself but it’s the point where you can tell that phineas is definitely NOT just being his usual outside-the-box self and that it’s becoming a serious, genuine problem that’s starting to hurt him and the people around him
