Hey, this is kind of random, but I have a question about the game’s soundtrack?

I was digging through some old notes and found a section where I noted that whenever the Vivids half of VBS performs in a story, the game plays the Bring It On instrumental, and whenever MMJ performs in-story the game plays the Happy Synthesizer instrumental. Do any other characters have something like that, where an instrumental of an IRL Vocaloid song that’s available ingame plays when they perform in the story?

ah the rettou joutou and happy synthesiser thing is mainly in early stories, nowadays most of the songs used as bgm when the characters perform is OST. VBS also uses RAD DOGS for when Bad Dogs perform alone and Ready Steady for the full group (even in more recent stories).

WxS doesn't really perform music ever, and if Niigo plays music it's OST like 99% of the time. Early Leo/need stories use this OST track called Pretty Good Days for the vast majority of their performances. While it's not actually a vocaloid song, it apparently is in the story. If you listen to it I think it's based on ROKI, which would make sense given that it's the L/n cover available by default when you start the game (like Rettou Joutou for VBS). Ichika's acoustic guitar song from the Sakura event is also allegedly a vocaloid song despite being OST, but I can't think of anything it might be based on this time. Again like with Niigo all their songs are OST.

So to actually answer your question it's just MMJ and VBS.

God Beat Eater beloved. and TONDEMO-WONDERZ. and showtime ruler. rip the rui event. all of niigo's songs slap tbh so i do not have a fave to toss at you... umm and you guys have Ryusei no Pulse which is L/N. still my favorite L/N song to date.

We do have Icedrop! I FC'd it so quickly hkahdjs Airi is probably my 2nd fave MMJ character. Tenshi no clover was an instant hit for me tho that was probably because I was already such a huge fan of Minori and her event really resonated with me so the song just added to that (for reasons I need Aira's va to cover it hkahdjs)

RIP the Rui event (>_<) I wish we at least got the outfits too I was looking forward to them. At least we have the song! I legit have almost all the alt covers for Cinema, Beat Eater (god Kohane's vocals are so good), TONDEMO-WONDERZ and Showtime. Literally top tier songs; Cinema is what got me hooked on Akito's vocals (and his character as a whole) because a lot of the other covers weren't really doing him justice imo. TONDEMO is such a silly goofy song and Tsukasa's alt cover is just as silly goofy and I love it it fits him so well.

EN's been a wild ride so far and I've been a little on and off it occasionally because I'm juggling 3 different gacha games (Project Sekai, TWST, and now Enstars) but I might come over to JP if I really want the showtime cards hkahdjs

first thing's first: i suppose i'll get the obvious ones out of the way, since they're easiest to explain. naturally i'd like for kazui and haruka to interact---i don't think they've spoken much in comparison to some of the other combinations between them, but i liked what little interactions did exist between them and i think it couldn't hurt to plot things further. i think interacting with mafuyu and kaito would be fun, too, since there's a lot mafuyu could still learn from niigo kaito even after the recent nightcord events. and rui, too, but rui's lower-muse for me at the moment so that sort of thing could take a while. and kaito and luka would obviously be a good matchup as well...

oh, but outside of that, i have a vague idea for muses that would probably get along well (or, maybe just interestingly) even if it would be harder to interact between them. i was tempted to say gunpowder tim and gunmeister smith should interact just because i think putting two characters with gun in their names together would be funny, although i think tim is significantly more violent than smith and smith would actually probably hate him. he might gel better with christopher shaldred or belkia, if anyone.

as a rule i'm usually open to whatever works, though, so this isn't like a strict "i only want to do interactions with these muses" thing... outside of the muses i listed already, there are a lot i'm familiar with who didn't have immediate possibilities come to mind---although now that i'm actually writing it out graverobber and renee parmedes branvillier might have interesting interactions...

anyway, i'll cut myself off there. sorry for getting wordy with it---that happens.

I thought I made a post about this a while ago but I can’t find it so I’m posting it again. Here are my ‘niigo meeting wxs in public for the first time’ headcanons since this may or may not be real in 12 hours

first thing, Mafuyu immediately starts masking, turning on her good kid act, not just because of the new people, but also she has that ‘perfect senpai’ image to maintain in front of Emu

Emu gets so completely and entirely caught off guard by Mafuyu showing up to pheniland that she gets so scared and the rest of wansho are like??? emu what’s wrong??? come and greet these nice people??? and upon further inspection, Emu realizes that all 4 of them are also fucked up and she starts losing her mind

because Emu is so freaked out by Mafuyu, Nene is also kinda freaked out. She’s gotten really good at meeting new people recently, but if Emu is afraid of a person, then there’s probably a good reason

Mizuki seems to be vibing but they are really not. though I don’t think this is ever explicitly stated, they want to keep their school life separate from their niigo life probably because of their “secret” and also as shown when niigo met VBS in footprints event, Mizuki kinda panicked when Ena asked An about how they are at school and An--very conveniently--left out the part about Mizuki being harassed. So I can only imagine how scary it must be for them to introduce Rui properly (Ena didn’t really get the chance to talk to him during the picnic) since their relationship with Rui is a remnant of the past that they want to hide.

ahaha but at least silly funny and goofy tsukasa senpai is there to help deflect any and all awkward conversation :D (mizukasa besties REAL)

Ena and Tsukasa: “did you say your name is shinonome? I have a wonderful kouhai with that name!” “dont tell me...” “are you related to an Akito by any chance?” “im so sorry im so sorry im so sorry im so sor”

Tsukasa tries to talk to her about how amazing it is to have a younger siblings and Ena is just :) trying :) not to :) scream :)

Kanade and Nene are hating this entire exchange, but depending on how long the 8 of them talk, i feel like (if given enough time) they would have a really good conversation and connection over music

this is the start of mizuemu and mizunene besties this isn’t a headcanon i just need it to happen

#631 - Yelling Together (shr) [Kagamine Rin, Ren]

Achievement Date: 21-04-04, Upload Date: 12-07-23

An interesting song with a very odd but nice groove. I think this might be shr’s most Japanese song yet. A lot of imagery, as per many traditional songs, not sure if this is a love song or more general, but it’s not a bad song.

#632 - Goodbye Sengen (Chinozo) [flower]

Achievement Date: 21-04-05, Upload Date: 20-04-13

A minor hit for Chinozo but blew up after the New Year and eventually became the first VOCALOID song to pass 100 Million views on YouTube. Very much fits the corona vibes of the time and the iconic pose made for a quick impression. 

#633 - Vocaloids Only Repeat Two Chords Yelling "Tettet-Tetteree"

(GYARI) [Rin, Len, Yukari, Iroha, Miku, Luka]

Achievement Date: 21-04-23, Upload Date: 17-04-28

Kind XFD version of the Two Chords Series, combining the best bits of the three songs. A lot of the parts were shuffled to different VOCALOIDs which makes for a different take on the three songs. It’s a great 30 minutes, and this is the short version.

#C-4 - Cute Girlfriend (syudou) [Kafu]

Achievement Date: 21-04-29, Upload Date: 21-02-20

Now we enter the KAFU section of the list, there are seven of them, and next one won’t be there for ages. So these seven are special in a way. This is the beginning of the Girl/Boy series by syudou, and the most famous of all of syudou’s songs. I think the song capture the intricacies of KAFU pretty well and it’s pretty quick too.

#634 - Envy Baby (Kanaria) [GUMI]

Hi! I wanna people save! English so bad that it comes back out to be cryptic… but the song itself is nice, sure it is a follow-up to KING, but I think it’s a good follow-up to KING, a nice mix of what worked before and new, intriguing ideas. 

#635 - Nocturnal Kids (DECO*27) [Hatsune Miku]

Song written as a collaboration with Bang Dreams, I believe. It’s a good song, regardless. Well, it has good parts but it doesn’t jell as a whole, unfortunately. Would have been nice if he stuck to a single idea, like his next song on the list. 

#636 - SCREAM (Umetora) [GUMI]

Achievement Date: 21-05-02, Upload Date: 17-01-09

A rare recent Umetora song, which has him strip back to solo songs. Nice use of GUMI’s dual language mode and much more refined gravure idol track, although I kind of like the business of his earlier song, to be honest. This is very good though.

#637 - Telecaster B-Boy (long ver.) (Surii) [Kagamine Len]

Achievement Date: 21-05-07, Upload Date: 20-09-12

Long version adds a couple verses here and there. I like the theme of being yourself outside the confine of society, and another pretty clear TG theme here. Yeah, it ends with the couple killing themselves, but they are dancing in the PV! How fun… 

#638 - Becoming potatoes (Neru) [Kagamine Rin, Len]

Another funky depressing song but the master of those, one of Neru’s latest efforts, another song about everything falling apart and throwing all that failure away, now with more jazz swing and so on… I think ProSeca related, but not original?

#639 - Vampire (DECO*27) [Hatsune Miku]

A song that shows DECO*27 is still at top of his game, he has a thing where he sees the trend and just… makes it his own. And the TikTok really works in his favor as he is able to concentrate on a single idea rather than string many unrelated ones. This is the seduction and the initial high portion of the Mannequin album, so… yeah.

#640 - Jackpot Sad Girl (syudou) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 21-05-31, Upload Date: 20-10-24

A ProSeca song, for a Niigo event about heading out into society, and which syudou was in a similar position, apparently! That’s the first half, the second half is another response to Sand Planet, because that has become a genre of itself. Why do this on a commissioned work? Because he felt he needed to say in a commissioned work, as Sand Planet was a commissioned work itself. It’s biting in more ways than one.

gonna try my hand at tiering, so any tips on who to tier for and to not tier for to get a pretty high spot?

The easiest characters to tier for are probably the L/n or MMJ girls. They’re generally less popular, but have had a few pretty competitive events here and there. Their fans are just as dedicated as vbs/wxs/n25 fans there’s just less people to compete with. Like the Shizuku event recently was completely dead, which might've been partially bc of kiuan, cooking and phoenix being 3 incredibly competitive events directly following, but you get the picture. L/n or MMJ events are pretty quiet normally, and are very easy to rank high on if they're next to a very popular event.

In general wxs/n25 events (and vbs) tend to be the most comp. Tiering Tsukasa or Mizuki in particular is a death sentence.

Sometimes events will be popular tiering targets based on the story (like fawo or curtain call were, although both banner characters are popular on top of that), and sometimes they can be popular because of the cards (i'm assuming bc more people with the cards = more event points per person = more comp event). This happens with white day, it happens with the anniversary events, and basically any set that looks cool (like cgo). This year I reckon story-wise the arc enders, burn my soul, p much every niigo event, maybe lutf will be popular. And Pandemonium (don't even try i'm being dead serious). Gacha-wise, probably Resonant Town, Kind and Gentle You, Hello Good Day (can you tell I have no idea what's popular). Usually this mainly applies to lim gachas lol.

ight. now that wxs disband arc is (hopefully) over what do u think will their next arc about? (got inspired by that one niigo ask)

shout out to the otori brothers for outright stating what's gonna happen in the next arc.

so at the end of the event they mention that they managed to get WxS contacts with three other theatre groups. i doubt any of these will be arcland again so that probably means three new groups and new NPCs and such. i'm assuming we'll get another event for tsukasa to improve his acting and maybe he'll actually get to meet his idol who was brought up/appeared in the more recent events? maybe one of the theatre groups is the one that guy belongs to, although maybe that's a bit of a stretch since WxS is at a much lower level. nene will probably get a similar event if it's three groups. so smth like tsukasa -> rui -> nene, or maybe more spread out.

i reckon the first event will be finding their footing like MMJ had when they first started freelancing. maybe that could be a rui event actually? like it was his idea to do this so it'd make sense. i wanna know if we can get rui october unit event for the 4th year in a row. oh and we'll probably go back to wonder stage at some point and in my mind that would make a good emu event.

just something i want to happen and not necessarily something i am confident will happen: i want the group to get closer as friends and not just coworkers. they're definitely starting to become more open about their feelings with each other (see pandemonium, our happy ending), but there's still a bit of lack of closeness both emotionally and just generally. they are close friends and it's very clear but there's still a lot that they don't say out loud and they rarely do things together that aren't just for the sake of work in a story that isn't a card story or an area conversation. because a lot of the bonding that's happened has been limited to that and it's kinda annoying lol. i guess we did have close game/offline and pandemonium as events for them to do more general, not-work-related friend things but neither of those were the whole unit. give them a same dreams same colors is what i'm trying to say (which is possible because they're freelancing now which means employment comes and goes and they will have spare time on their hands).

oh and obviously there's the fact that eventually tsukasa and rui are going to have to start thinking about college and tsukasa's probably gonna have to choose between going abroad like he's mentioned he wants to do a few times before or staying in japan and obviously he'll stay in japan so we can avoid the group disbanding but that's still probably gonna be a thing although maybe not in 3rd arc that seems too soon so maybe that's a 4th arc thing.
