thinking abt benvolio starting the play as part of a trio and ending it alone
#the way that in most versions he appears constantly in the first three acts- then mercutio dies. and benvolio disappears from the narrative#until the very end when he’s seen in the back of the group of people discovering romeo juliet and paris’s bodies.#like just Yesterday he was joking around with romeo abt how much of a hopeless romantic he was. and right before mercutio’s fight he was#pulling mercutio back and telling him that they should not fight today.#man. me when tragedies are actually tragic#he’s just left with no one after the story runs its course. and this all happens in like 2 days.#and like it would be one thing if he just thought that romeo killed himself after juliet died but the fact that bc of friar lawrence he#knows that juliet was alive so romeo had no reason to kill himself…….. it’s over i fear#ash.txt#the reason i am thinking abt benvolio is bc i am playing him in a production and we just started rehearsals LMAO#he will be existing in my brain for the next two months#r+j
