This show was originally scheduled at The Real Rock, but was changed to Omni. Omni booker, Dean Delray remembers: "Alice in Chains and Mookie Blaylock were supposed to play The Real Rock, because they outbidded me. And the whole reason that I wanted Mookie Blaylock was that, 'This is the old Mother Love Bone guys, I gotta get them!'. And Alice in Chains... I'd got a cassette from Concrete Convention (Foundations Forum 1990), including "Man in the Box". Thinking, 'This is gonna be great!'. But they (The Real Rock) beat us! However, on the day of the show The Real Rock got shut down, for a liquor license thing. And we got a call from the tour manager, asking if we could just put them on. My co-booker at Omni, Jimmy Arceneaux said, 'Fuck it, let's do it!'. And we called 50 of our friends... and they came to play!". Mookie Blaylock was billed as "Mother Lovebone" on The Real Rock ticket.

Tumblr media
KATSUKI
﹒⪩⪨﹒ he initially scoffs at the aesthetic, claiming it’s just another way for people to seek attention. however, he quickly realizes that your style is a genuine expression of your personality, and he takes whatever he said back real quick.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ despite his tough exterior, he becomes somewhat protective of his your style choices. if anyone mocks or judges you, he would defend you.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ he isn’t the best at verbal compliments, but he often shows his appreciation for your aesthetic through actions. he might buy you a new accessory or piece of clothing that he thinks would suit your style.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ over time, his own wardrobe might start incorporating more alternative clothing. he won’t admit it, but his your influence rubs off on him, and he starts appreciating the aesthetic.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ he enjoys taking you to rock concerts and heavy metal music festivals, appreciating the high energy and rebellious atmosphere. he finds the environment enjoyable and really likes sharing these experiences with you.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ in private, he might show a softer side, helping you with your makeup or dying your hair different colors. it’s a really cute bonding experience, and he secretly loves those moments.
Tumblr media
HITOSHI
﹒⪩⪨﹒you and hitoshi instantly connect over your guys shared aesthetic. you guys really appreciate each other's styles and often compliment each other's outfits and looks.
﹒⪩⪨﹒your wardrobes often blend together from having basically the same style. you guys enjoy borrowing each other's clothes and accessories, creating a mix of your styles.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ you and hitoshi love exploring the underground places together. you guys frequently visit indie cafes, vintage shops, underground clubs, and music festivals, always finding new and interesting spots.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ you guys bond over your love for alternative music and art. whether it’s discovering a new band, attending a concert, or visiting an art exhibition, you guys always find joy in these shared interests.
﹒⪩⪨﹒ hitoshi understands the ‘challenges’ of having an alternative style and is always there to support you. you guys often discuss your experiences and how to handle judgment from others, providing each other with comfort and reassurance.
﹒⪩⪨﹒hitoshi loves planning random dates, often involving very unconventional activities, such as exploring abandoned places, attending midnight movie screenings, or visiting eccentric art exhibits. but whatever he plans you’re obsessed with it.

Obituary: The son who soared: Jeff Buckley
Date: June 6, 1997
From: The Guardian (London, England)
Publisher: Guardian News & Media
Document Type: Obituary
Byline: ADAM SWEETING
FEW ROCK business careers began more tantalisingly than that of Jeff Buckley, who has drowned in the Mississippi river, aged 30 (his body was found on Wednesday this week). In 1991, record producer Hal Willner, known for assembling imaginative, star-studded tributes to Charles Mingus and Kurt Weill, put together a tribute concert for Jeff's father, Tim Buckley, at St Ann's Church, Brooklyn, New York. Tim had died of a heroin overdose in 1975, aged 28, but his early death ignited a slow-burning musical legend. It was founded on his recorded legacy in which soul, blues and jazz influences mingled freely, the process stirred by his arrestingly elastic vocal style.
His son Jeff, born in California during Tim's brief marriage to Panama-born Mary Guibert, had always been ambivalent about his father. Tim left Mary when Jeff was six months old, and his son was brought up by his mother and stepfather during a peripatetic childhood. 'We moved so often I had to put all my stuff in paper bags,' Jeff recalled. 'My childhood was pretty much marijuana and rock 'n' roll.'His decision to participate in Willner's tribute event launched Buckley Junior as a new phenomenon on the New York music scene, and simultaneously affirmed his quasi-mythic credentials, particularly when he performed his father's song Once I Was. 'It bothered me that I hadn't been to his funeral, that I've never been able to tell him anything,' said Jeff. 'I used that show to pay my last respects.'
Thus launched in public, Buckley was rescued from a string of odd jobs by joining the avant-garde combo Gods & Monsters, which featured Pere Ubu's ex-bassist Tony Maimone and Captain Beefheart's erstwhile guitarist Gary Lucas. But it was more a loose group of individuals than a real band and Buckley quit in early 1992 to pursue a solo career.
He began performing at small Manhattan clubs, particularly the Cafe Sin-e, where record company executives and A&R men were soon arriving by the limo-full, waving chequebooks. 'I went into those cafes because I really felt I had to go to an impossibly intimate setting where there's no escape, where there's no hiding yourself,' he explained.
Buckley's remarkable voice (his most obvious inheritance from his father) and movie-star looks left nobody in doubt that he was a star in the making, though the eclecticism of his shows confused some listeners. Buckley would pluck songs out of the air as the mood took him. It might be something by Van Morrison, the Hollies or Big Star, or a tune made famous by Nina Simone or Mahalia Jackson.
With a hippie-esque suspicion of large corporations, he turned down several deals before signing with Columbia at the end of 1992, apparently because he knew and trusted the label's A&R man Steve Berkowitz. The company previewed their new acquisition with a live EP, Live At Sin-e, following which Buckley travelled upstate to Bearsville to start work on his debut album, Grace.
The disc was released in 1994 to instant critical adulation. The sleeve pictured Buckley clutching a microphone and looking poetically dishevelled, while the music inside was a cornucopia of rockers, ballads, hymns and even a bold rendition of Benjamin Britten's Corpus Christi Carol, by no means standard rock 'n' roll fare. His voice was wild, passionate and sensual. If his music was hard to describe in a soundbite, it was bursting with hidden depths and infinite potential. Grace won Buckley the Best New Artist award from Rolling Stone magazine in 1995.
Buckley's inquisitiveness and musical ambition earned him acceptance across a broad spectrum of fellow performers. Elvis Costello brought him over in 1995 to perform at London's Meltdown Festival, where he easily held his own among string quartets and jazz ensembles, and last year he featured on Patti Smith's comeback album, Gone Again. He was also a fan of Eastern music, particularly the Islamic devotional Qawwali songs of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Buckley had been in Memphis since February, recording new material. He decided to go swimming in the Mississippi, fully clothed and carrying his guitar, but was apparently pulled under by the wash from a passing tug.
Jeff Buckley, rock singer, born August 1, 1966; died May 29, 1997

KAELIE.
(This Life by Curtis Stigers)
You had flashes of images before your eyes fluttered awake.     Oh god it had been a wonderful dream, you thought as you closed your eyes; trying your best to plunge back into it.
It had been Fall, and your family, along with Opie, were carving pumpkins, making pies, and drinking warm drinks covered in whipped cream. It was an easy dream, one that calmed you. Where you floated in and out of scenes with Opie, both going to cafes and taking walks during sunset with Bella on her leash. But what really got to you was that it could be real.
That was the first night you had slept without interruption, since moving to Charming. It wasn’t the bed, nor the mattress; it was actually a tad uncomfortable. But what made sleeping so easy, was the man whose arms were wrapped firmly around you. Slightly pulling you to him, making you feel protected; at ease.
You tried not to move too much, seeing as Opie might wake and move away. But you couldn’t help nuzzling closer into his arms, smelling him, feeling the hair on his arm at your cheek. It was nice to be touched. You didn’t realise how touch-starved you had been. His smell enveloped you; leather, a heady musky smell and motel soap. It was hard not to trace the freckled arm.
You realised something then. This was easy. Being around Opie was… relaxing. You didn’t feel any anxiety anymore, maybe some apprehension because this … relationship – or partnership? Was so new. That was normal. But what you realised was that he was so different to Dalton. Who was always up and down, constantly changing, shifting, like nothing was right. As if he had a constant itch that he couldn’t scratch.
Opie was like a rock; sturdy and reliable. You needed that. You needed someone who would care about you, rather than themselves and what other people thought of them.
Could this work out? Somehow, could you be with a biker? Maybe your dream wasn’t as possible as you firs thought… because bikers never leave their club. Fuck, you didn’t even know if they travelled. Did they have holidays?
You kept on thinking and thinking. Until you felt a shift behind you.
Tumblr media
OPIE.
(Cold Little Heart by Michael Kiwanuka)
Opie couldn’t see whether your eyes were open or not, as you lay with your back against his chest. Your warmth was an overwhelming comfort. One that he’d yearned for. He had seen the pyjama pants you wore and had hidden his smile from you. Teasing just didn’t feel right in this situation. Not when you were on the run.
The sunlight was barely blocked by the crappy curtains, making Opie wake well before he usually did. Shifting slightly, he read the time on the digital clock. Six AM. He had a brief plan of what your next steps were going to be, but he didn’t want to make this a scary situation.
He wanted you to have a bit of fun. Taste some freedom. From what you’d told him while staying at his place, you had been cut off from the world. By Dalton. From your friends and family. Even when you moved to Charming, you didn’t have usual contact.
Opie had a selfish thought. Of the club being your family. But he knew what it had done to Donna, and even though he wouldn’t leave the club, he wasn’t going to prioritise it over his Old Lady.
Tumblr media
DALTON.
There was a knock at your door. Your home door.
Dalton answered it.
He had already gotten up at six am to do a lap around the neighbourhood. He thought it would be good for him to get acquainted with the area; ready for when you came back home. It would save a lot of time, and you two could get straight back into the life you once had.
“Good morning,” he said to the blonde man. Dalton was shirtless, only in his work pants, which were a navy-blue button up. His hair was wet from showering and the towel hung around his neck, catching the droplets of water.
“Mornin’,” Jax replied, his anger undetectable…for now. “I was wondering if Kaelie was in?” Jax slid his hands into his front pockets and tried to look as casual as possible.
“Kaelie? No. She’s not…what-“ he gave a cough, then shook his head, “-what do you need her for? May I be of assistance?”
It was working, Jax thought. This fucker is jealous just because another guy is asking about her.
“No, no. Kaelie and I – we were ugh, meant to catch up this morning.” There was a flash of pure hatred in Dalton’s eyes. A second and it was gone. But Jax caught it. That flicker of the beast inside.
“Were you now? She never said anything about it…” Dalton said with a smile, one that didn’t reach his eyes.
“Ah yeah well, you know how it is. I might be able to reach her cell, bye.” Jax quickly put up a hand and walked back to his bike.
None of the guys were aware of his plan, and he wanted to keep it that way. But he wanted to keep Dalton’s attention in Charming, and on him, rather than Opie and Kaelie.
Dalton watched as the blonde-fuck ass drove off. His mind raging, his insides fuming. He felt hot to the touch. He was going to explode.
“ANOTHER. FUCKING. BIKER?!” He said as he closed the door with a bang.
Kicking the closest thing he could – the coat rack. Dalton went into the kitchen and picked up the glass and hurled it at the far wall.
“SLUT. FUCKING SLUT-“ He was roaring now, and didn’t care who heard. The neighbours weren’t his priority, and if they allowed bikers in their town, then he wouldn’t be on their radar. He was in the clear. Nothing but a handsome firefighter. Who would go against that?
The rage simmered as Dalton grabbed at his hair.
“Think think think think think think,” he said over and over. Crouching down, he picked up a shattered piece of glass and held it in his hands.

OPIE.
(Nancy From Now On by Father John Misty)
“I have a question for you,” Opie said as he zipped up his pack. He had put some of the items he’d bought you in his own luggage. It didn’t all fit in your own.
“Yes?” You said from the other side of the room, pulling on your socks. The short shower had left parts of your hair damp, and you hated the feeling.
“Is there anywhere you want to go? A place you really want to see?” He moved the bag onto the bed and came over to you. Kneeling down, he grabbed one of your shoes and undid the laces.
With a blush as Opie was kneeling before you, your mind didn’t work as well as it should. Stammering for an answer, you said, “Um…I- well I don’t know the area. I do like sunshine. You know I like my books, god. If there was a hotel that had a library on every level, that would be … interesting.” You finished saying, pulling yourself out of that dream.
“That actually sounds like a cool place to go. Sadly, California hasn’t evolved that far-“ he gently took hold of your foot and shimmied on the boot. When it was on, he started to do the laces.
“Why? Where would you like to go?” You said, trying to fill the silence. You thought this moment might get awkward, and fast.
“Ah, well, I have a few things to tell you. Because I think we’re gonna be on the road for a little while longer.”
Your heart started beating faster and faster. “What? What’s happened?” Your voice was higher in pitch and Opie knew he should’ve done this with more tact.
“I got an update from Jax… Dalton’s moved in. To your place.”
The colour drained from your face, and you felt cold. It was the same feeling when you were under water for too long, trying to hold your breath.
How could he be so brazen? What did he think he was doing? You started to hyperventilate. Breathing no longer an easy thing to do.

CLAY.
(The Devil Wears A Suit And Tie by Colter Wall)
“How’s the hunt goin’ for the little tart’s ex?” Gemma’s voice rung out from the bathroom. The steam from her shower billowing out as she slid open the ensuite door.
“Not much happenin’” Clay grumbled as he slid on his boots. His hands shook as he did so, trying not to let it show. A lie. There was a lot of shit happening, but Gemma didn’t need to know about it. Not that her son was doing lone detective work, or that Dalton was way more fucked up than anyone could ever know.
He had Unser check the police records and nothing came up. But information about Dalton’s childhood and teenage years were found in the foster system and there was a lot that was expunged on his record. From house fires, to drownings, to missing children. There was something truly wrong about this guy. And Clay knew more than Kaelie ever would.
The president just needed to know if keeping Dalton around would be a hinderance, or somehow helpful.
Clay didn’t know if he could talk to Tig about this, about possibly keeping the Dalton kid around. He had gotten close with Opie’s girl. She was a vet, and they’d bonded over the dogs Tig brought in.
Getting up from the bed, Clay walked over to Gemma, who was blow-drying her hair. The noise was loud, as he kissed her on the cheek. In the mirror, Gemma watched as her husband did so, she leant into it. Still keeping the dryer on her hair, not bothering to turn it off.
He waved goodbye and she did the same.
They lived together, practically worked together, but seemed to be separate somehow. Two forms that weren’t fully meshed. It was independence. But more of a division.
She had been following Clay’s moves and knew exactly what he did. Gemma never liked being out of the loop. Even if she had to play pretend, she would. But she would never be blindsided.
Looking at her nails, Gemma decided to go get them done. Afterward, she would track down Jax. She wasn’t going to let an outsider into Charming and let him shake it up. The club didn’t need it. It couldn’t handle it.
Tumblr media
KAELIE.
(Me And The Devil by Soap&Skin)
Breathe, breathe, in, out, breathe in, and breathe out.
You kept telling yourself over and over. Like a mantra, a song, nothing else needed to be inside your head except knowing how to keep on breathing.
The knowledge that he…was in your … your home, was unbearable. You wanted to go straight back there and kill him. Maybe Opie knew someone that could … Surely that’s what biker’s did? Or dabbled in from time to time. But you made a connection with Opie, hell, even some of the other bikers, so you couldn’t ask them to do that.
But you couldn’t help the feeling of hopelessness rising up again. Like an old, unwanted friend, you could feel its cold hands wrap around your heart.
“It’s over. I have nothing against him. No proof, no evidence. And he just keeps on coming back!” You bellowed out. The emotions coming on so strong that you felt as if you could explode.
Hate.
Hate, hate, goddamn fucking hatred was coursing through your veins. You let it take hold of hopelessness and twist its’ neck. Dead it lay.
Now hatred would be your friend. It would warm your heart, or maybe this feeling was vengeance? You didn’’t care. Fuck this.
Your face heated until it was physically red and Opie began to panic too. ‘Fuck, oh shit,’ he thought. Thinking you might pass out.
“Kaelie – Kaelie” he took you by the hands, “it’s being sorted out. Jax is fixing it-“ The warmth of his hands was a beacon. A lighthouse amongst the violent sea.
“But my home…” you huffed at Opie, barely able to breathe. Anger and sadness fighting for your attention.
“It can be rebuilt, and you know you can stay … with me for as long as you want.” His ending words were quieter, even though he wanted so badly for you to live with him. He wanted to protect you.
“Thank you,” you said gratefully. But melancholy was mixed with the words, and you felt as if Dalton had won.
“Look – the club has it under control,” Opie knelt in front of you. The big biker still taller than you on his knees. He lifted your chin up, wiping at the tears that were falling from your eyes. “Nothing is going to happen to you, to Bella, to Dobby or Bea.”
With your free hand, you started playing with your locket, opening and closing it. A constant click, click, click. Opie let you fiddle with it, seeing how it calmed you down.
Sighing, you rested your head on Opie’s shoulder. A bold move, but you didn’t care. You felt like your life was falling apart. Fuck, you barely had a life to begin with. And now whatever you had created, had been set alight.
Tumblr media
OPIE.
(Johnny Boy's Bones by Colter Wall)
Once you had calmed down, all Opie wanted to do was punch Dalton in the face and then himself. You deserved better than this. You deserved whatever you desired. And he wanted to be there for you. He wanted to be right beside you, in every stage of your journey.
He just needed to make your life safe again, before you could continue on with it. God, how the fuck did someone get that messed up? Opie thought, thinking of how Dalton could live with himself.
He wanted to call Jax and tell him to kill the goddamn fucker. But for some reason the club thought it might bring too much attention. Dalton was new to town, and they didn’t know much of his background. Would anyone come asking for him? That could bring even more trouble.
But thinking of him wasn’t going to help you, not when his job was to protect and keep on moving. So, Opie stood up and helped you to your feet.
“Let’s get going,” Opie said, and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear.
Tumblr media
DALTON.
After the meeting was done, and Peter left the room with Linda, Dalton set his sights on the targets. There hadn’t been any fires today, or yesterday, or the day before. Not in Charming. But there would be soon, Dalton thought. His plan was already in motion. He was going to change Charming.
It would never be the same.
“Hey, you guys know any good bars in town?” Dalton asked. His question seemed for everyone, but he was only looking at two people: Brad and Riley. The only other white guys his age.
One nodded, the other shook his head.
“Yeah of-fucking-course you wouldn’t know where to go Riley. You’re new. Dumbass,” Brad the Chad Frat boy mumbled the last bit, but knew the new transfer wasn’t going to say anything.
Riley only looked at Dalton sheepishly, his shoulders caving inward.
“You guys want to go out? Tabs on me tonight,” Dalton said with a winning smile. His mother used to call it the ‘boy next door’ smile; it was innocent, there was no bad motive behind it…
“Oh fuck yeah, if you’re buying I’m in!” Brad said, shucking off his shirt and putting on a clean one. Right in the middle of the room.
“I ugh, … yeah, sure,” Riley stammered a bit but Dalton encouraged him. Clapping him on the back, Dalton nodded.
    “You’re safe with me, buddy.”
Tumblr media
KAELIE.
(How's It Gonna End by Tom Waits)
Opie had both your bags on his shoulders as you exited the room. Doing one more sweep over, in case you forgot something, you felt a shiver run down your spine.
Something was going to happen; you just knew it. Whether it was while you were on the road with Opie, or back in Charming. Something bad was going to happen.
Reaching for your locket, you began fiddling with it again. Open and close, open and close. Click, click, click.
You didn’t know when the habit began, but it used to drive Dalton insane. The constant clicking had brought unseeable rage inside him.
For a while you had blamed it on his background. At the small bits he shared with you. The horrors he had endured. But a friend had urged you to see the truth. And the truth was simple: Dalton wasn’t good. He wasn’t a good man, and might never be.
You turned from the room, and closed the door behind you. Opie had already snapped your packs to the bike. And you watched as he took out a cigarette and lit it. He took a big intake, then slowly blew it out. The smoke surrounding him, then drifting with the wind.
Above you, the sky was blue. No clouds, no cover, only unrelenting sunshine. The glare made you squint, and you trudged down to Opie, who flicked the cigarette on the gravel ground.
“Ready to go?” He said, lifting a leg over the bike.
“Yep,” you said, popping the ‘P’.
You wondered what would be next, and for how long. Hoping that the next place you stayed would be a little nicer than this one.
Climbing behind him, Opie waited for you to clip on the helmet and wrap your arms around him. It was then that he turned on the engine and revved the bike to life.
You wondered what other’s thought, seeing you on the bike with Opie. Did they think you were married? Married, you huffed a laugh. And Opie felt it.
Backing out of the parking space, he turned around and headed towards the exit.
Off you went, with the sun blaring down upon you, Opie’s kutte warm against your chest. Sons of Anarchy, the words said.
You held on tight as he shot down the highway, onto your next destination.

The potential of them going to NYC tho!!🥹
I just got home from going there for the first time and I was thinking so much about Tarlos!
We walked past a s*x shop in Chelsea called Rainbow Station 🌈 and I had to pretend toward my friend to be present in the conversation and not imagining TK dragging a somewhat embarrassed somewhat intrigued by all the openness and queer culture Carlos in three to browse for new things for the bedroom!
Also TK being Carlos’ rock when he’s intimidated by the scale and size and chaos of the city, showing him all his favorite spots, and Carlos being TK’s rock when TK gets sad about his bad memories of his past and fond memories of Gwyn🥺
And visiting Enzo and Jonah! And going to clubs and concerts and museums and having a picnic in Central Park while kissing and holding hands🥰
Sorry to drop these ramblings in your inbox lol you saying something about the ‘potential of them visiting New York’ just got my brain started and I don’t know if it was okay to add them to your post but I wanted to share them with you and also hear more of your thoughts about what they would do there!!
yes to all of these ideas!!!! i don’t have any concrete places for them in mind but i just love the thought of carlos, who we know gets homesick easy thanks to s4, getting to fulfill his dreams of travelling now that he’s found his real home in tk. i love the thought of new york being the first on their list of places to visit since it means so much to tk—it’s his hometown, and the place he experienced so many lows but also so many highs because of its association with gwyn and his brother and him finding his place in the firehouse. i love the thought of carlos wanting to see tk’s old haunts but also the typical touristy spots, and having tk as his guide is the most appealing part. and i love it for tk, too, as a chance to bridge together his past and his present/future, and to see his little brother and enzo. i also love the idea of them visiting when it’s fall/winter so we get to see them when leaves are changing and it’s a little cooler—they can get coffee from small cafes and take in the sights and at the end of the day know that home is each other.
(also check out this post by @carlos-in-glasses—i agree with absolutely all of this re: tarlos in new york)

It’s All Fun and Games
June 2015
***
“Wow, you take me such romantic places,” Kensi drawled as Deeks pulled into the parking lot of the “Family Fun Center”, which boasted an arcade, bumper cars, cafe, batting cages, and a full mini golf course. On a Saturday afternoon, the lot was nearly full, parents with varying numbers of excited children darting from between cars.
“Hey, I spent hours here as a kid,” Deeks defended himself cheerfully. “Of course, back then the games were a little less high tech, but we could spend a whole day here when it wasn’t good day for surfing.
“I’m kidding,” Kensi assured him, lightly touching his shoulder to let him know she wasn’t truly dissing one of his adolescent staples. “How did you afford coming so often?”
At another time, Kensi would have edged around his lack of money. Oddly enough, he found it encouraging that they’d come this far.
Lowering his voice and looking around him to make sure no one was in hearing distance, he nodded to the back of the lot. “We used to hop that fence, join a big group of people, who were almost finished and somebody would take pity on us, and pass on a couple clubs and balls.”
“Martin A. Deeks!” Kensi exclaimed. “I’m shocked.”
“Hey, you know Ray and I got into trouble sometimes. Besides, we could have been doing so much worse than not paying for a couple rounds of golf,” he defended himself. “If we had a little extra money, we’d play a few arcade games.”
“And no one ever caught on or sold you out?”
“You’d be surprised at the average teenager’s desire to “stick it to the man”. Plus, we usually chose times when it was busy enough that the staff wouldn’t be likely to recall if they sold passes to another couple of kids. We didn’t go every week either.”
“Amazing the things you find out about a guy once you start dating,” Kensi said, shaking her head with mock remonstration in her voice
“I’ll have you know I made an anonymous donation once I graduated from law school,” he told her.
“Well, I suppose that’s something.”
Then finally made it into the main building, which was overrun with kids and teenagers. It brought back a wave of nostalgia.
Deeks nudged her shoulder, neatly moving them to the side to avoid being run over by a group of kids heading for the arcade.
“What about you? Any good memories from mini golfing?” Deeks asked.
“Actually, I’ve never been before,” Kensi responded.
“Seriously?” Kensi shrugged, and he chuckled, taking her hand to pull her towards the service counter. “Oh, then this is going to be amazing.” He stepped up to the counter. “Two passes for the golf course, please.”
Kensi Blye was amazing at a lot of things, particularly of the physical variety. She can run, fight, and shoot better than just about anyone. Even though she’d never really surfed before a couple years ago, she’d picked that up with surprising speed under Deeks’ tutelage. He was still better than her, but she could pull it off if needed.
Mini golf though, not so much. It was a revelation to watch Kensi struggle to hit the little ball across the small areas of green, needing several tries to make through the hole in a structure built to resemble a miniature wharf.
“Alright, bend your knees a little more, keep your head back, and aim slightly more towards the left,” Deeks instructed as Kensi walked to her golf ball, having bounced off the rock placed between the tee and whole 11.
Kensi sent him a swift glare, clearly in no mood for tips. “Deeks,” she said warningly.
“Sorry, sorry. Go ahead.”
She swung again, the ball somehow coming a few inches within the hole, but swerved to the right at the last moment. Kensi let out a frustrated growl, muttering under her breath. It wasn’t quite intelligible, but Deeks was pretty certain her words shouldn’t be spoken around small children.
A small crowd had begun to form behind them, waiting for their turn as Kensi continued her attempt. After a few minutes, they apparently gave up on waiting and moved on to the next spot.
Kensi lined up her next shot, bending her knees, and swung gently. It dropped in and Kensi shouted in victory, only for the ball to pop back out the other side of hole. She stared at it for a moment, her expression blank.
Then she raised the golf club above her head, let out a primal yell, and beat the green with the club repeatedly. Just leaned back slightly in surprise, but didn’t attempt to stop her. Maybe 20 seconds later, she dropped the club to her side, breathing heavily.
Deeks pressed his lips together, holding back a smirk with all his light. “Feel better?” he asked mildly.
“Yes,” Kensi said succinctly, tucking a few stray pieces of hair behind her ear. “I do.”
“Maybe we should switch to bumper cars,” he suggested.
“Yeah, that might be best.”
“Ok, I’ll just take that for you.” He gingerly removed the club from her hand like he was disarming a bomb.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized, looking sheepish.
“Don’t worry about it. It was actually kind of entertaining to see Kensi Blye not be absolutely amazing at something,” he said.
“Oh hush.” She knocked his shoulder with her, the gesture affectionate. “I guess I do have to give concede that you are better at mini golf than I am.”
“I’m honored,” Deeks teased. “Now, how do you feel about bowling?”
***
A/N: I don’t know if there if a place called the Family Fun Center exists in LA, but there used to be one near my childhood home.
If you’re wondering, yes, I did once beat a suspecting mini golf course with my club. Bowling has been a source of frustration as well, but as of the other day, I have learned to curb my rage.
Hope you enjoyed this silly little fic!

3/1/2024
The first March skies have some real lovely clouds.
Positive thing: My interview went well, and my friends bought me lunch afterwards.
The interviewer and I really vibed, or at least it felt that way. We went off on a few tangents about being frustrated with how people with personality disorders get treated, and also about good places to get boba, and I got to pet the dog that was there so that was nice. They mentioned I was the only person who brought up being interested in community work which I was surprised by. Apparently everyone else said they wanted to do private practice, which I know is the most popular route, but I would've thought at least one other person had interest in community work (especially since this internship site is community based). My want to stay in the counseling field is still on the rocks, but community work is what I'd want to focus on while I'm still here.
Tumblr media
Anyway, afterwards I went to a cafe and got one of the Valentines special drinks that they still had for some reason. This was the 딸기 (strawberry) Love Smoothie and it was very yummy. My friends came after too and one of them bought me bulgogi which was also very good.
Oh yeah, the Japanese Club officers messaged me offering to make me an officer too for organizing Conversation Table all this time. It's super funny to me because it ended up this way just because I was the only person who consistently went even after the original organizer stopped going. I guess if you stay doing something stuff can happen at you randomly. I did say yes, although they haven't answered me back yet.
I'm glad it's the weekend now. I can finally sleep in, and tomorrow is another Conversation Table which I think will be fun. Also I can play more viddy games and hopefully finish that last Japan post that's long overdue.

Garden of Eden
Chapter 1: Call this # Now
Ice cubes melting in her Glass, a young boy tugging at his moms dress to show her a rock he found, someone ordering a coffee, leaves falling off the trees, raked together to perfectly frame the sidewalk by the campus cafe. Usually it was easy for y/n to listen to her girlfriends talk about everything that the college life of rich girls had to offer. But somehow today, she couldn't quite seem to focus. „Hey, are you listening?“ Cassie looks at her with big eyes „Sorry. I zoned out, what did you say?" she stirs her coffee and takes a sip. „I was just telling you how Rickie acted like a total dick earlier.“ Cassie crosses her arms. „I was thinking of going to the party without him today, you feel me? Post some pics of me looking good, just to make him jealous or something.“ she says unfazed. „You're coming, right?“ „Yeah, of course! Not sure what you're supposed to do about Rickie though. Hasn't he always been like this? Maybe you should just let him go.“ Cassie rolls her eyes, chewing on the straw of her smoothie. "Ugh, I don't know why I even asked you in the first place. It's not like you're known for boys being your speciality." She opens her mouth as to add to her rant, but decides against it. Emma gives her a nudge with her elbow. "Cass you're such a bitch sometimes. It's not her fault you're dating an asshole." Cassie looks down on her freshly done nails and sighs. „Yeah, I know. It’s just- I don’t understand why he's acting like this. He used to be all nice and a real gentleman but now all he does is get mad and bitch around." Y/n looks out of the coffee shop window and the conversation fades into the background. She finishes her drink, grabs her purse and gets up. „Its fine Cass. I get it, you’re upset. It’s just I-„ she pauses. „Im not good at this stuff. You know me. I wish I could say something to make you feel better but I genuinely don’t know what. I’m sorry.“ she looks at her friend with a tired smile. „I think I should really go now though, I still need to grab some stationary for uni and I shouldn't be home too late. Bye guys, see you later!“
Stepping out of the cafe, she takes a big breath, fixes her skirt and pulls out her phone, hoping the girls didn’t notice her obvious lie to get out of there. She types in a number and her phone starts ringing. As a voice on the other end of the line greets her, y/n smiles and starts nervously running her fingers along the hem of her cardigan. "Hello, I'm y/n. Is this the manager of Club Velvet?“ „It’s him.“ the voice answers „Amazing! I called one of your staff members earlier to ask if it would be possible to shoot some scenes at your venue for a documentary I'm working on. I know you have a small gig coming up tomorrow with a punk band performing and I'd love to interview some of the guests, film the performance and maybe even speak to the band. Would that be possible? If you want to look at my work I can forward some of my previous documentaries." „Ah, yes. The aspiring movie director.“ he answers with a sarcastic undertone. „Sure, that’s fine with me. Yes, my colleague already told me about it and you can film at our location but I'd have to ask the boys from the band first if they would be up for an interview. I’ll do that and call you back later alright?" "Oh really? That would be amazing thank you so much. I'm practically already waiting for your call back!" Y/n says, laughing nervously. The line goes silent for a second until she hears the manager breathing in sharply on the other end. „Yeah sure. You’ll hear from me. G‘bye" The connection cuts off and y/n stands there awkwardly for a second before she makes her way down to the subway station.
The way home goes by twice as fast as usual and as much as she loves to people watch while riding the train, she just sits there with her eyes closed and a big smile on her face, thinking about the upcoming shoot. There has always been this passion for people in her life. Learning their hobbies ambitions and dreams, what they do to pass the time and the things they enjoy. It was in high school when she discovered filmmaking and even though she's never thought of herself as a very creative person, capturing the world from her own perspective has revealed a new side of herself. Only as she walks up the stairs to her apartment in Manhattan her mood shifts when she remembers the upcoming New-Term Fall-Party. Y/n has never been one to pass up on a good party and surely it’s gonna be a great evening. Yet a quiet voice inside of her head is begging to stay home and she can’t understand why.
Either way, canceling on the girls would be easier said than done and the following disappointment and being excluded from any friend group activities for a week ist absolutely not worth staying home. As Y/n steps into the already steaming hot shower, it’s almost making her forget the looming dread of going out tonight. She gets out, curls her hair and ties it into a half up/ half down hairstyle. Because makeup has never been her strong suit, she keeps it simple with brown eyeshadow to accentuate her eyes, a rosy shimmer on top, mascara, blush and a nude lip that matches the color of her jumper dress ontop of her favorite bell-sleeved blouse. To tie the outfit together, she puts on black knee high leather boots, a matching bag and a blazer. One last check in the mirror, a quick breathing exercise and she is out the door, and as a small treat to herself, on her way to take a cab to the party.
Emma, Cassie and Julie are already standing infront of the club. The four have been best girlfriends since Highschool. They greet each other with hugs and compliments and make their way past the bouncer, straight to the bar, where Julie promptly orders a round of drinks. The barkeeper hands out champagne flutes to the four and Emma turns around, facing her friends, and tying her arms around Cassie’s and Julie’s waists. She sticks her head in the middle of the group and speaks a toast, yelling over the club music. „To a new term, hot parties, wild nights and my favorite girls.“ They all laugh, clunk their glasses and take a sip. „So are we gonna go dance or what?“ Cassie shouts. They move to the dance floor, shoving away confused first term students and making room for themselves, shaking their hips, balancing champagne glasses in their hands until they find a good place to stay. Four girls dancing in a circle, singing along to bad remixes of pop songs, forgetting the world around them. To y/n this moment is movie worthy. The purest form of bliss she could ever imagine. The effortless fun of dancing to rihanna with your best friends while pearls of sweat are forming on their foreheads. It almost makes her feel stupid about not wanting to go at first. After a while of silly dancing and singing the wrong lyrics to obnoxiously bad pop songs Cassie looks at her phone and gestures the girls to follow her off the dance floor. „What’s wrong?“ Julie asks. „Rickie called, he wants to meet!“ Emma looks at her confused „What about looking hot and making him jealous?!“ Cassie holds back a chuckle and shrugs. „I’ll meet you guys again later.“ The other girls exchange looks and Julie rolls her eyes. „I guess in the meantime I’ll go get some more drinks. I could really use a break!“ „Sure Julie! Y/n and I are gonna go check for a free couch in one of the lounges! I know one of the bouncers. Maybe i can get us into vip!“ Emma grabs y/n‘s Arm, ready to go as y/n feels her phone vibrate in her bag. „Emma wait!“ She lifts up her phone. „I really gotta take this call! I’ll step outside for a second“ she hurries outside while Emma looks after her, barely making it in time to take the Call. „Miss y/n. We spoke earlier.“ it’s the Manager. Her heart starts beating faster and she’s fidgeting nervously. „You asked me if you could speak to the band, remember?“ „Yes of course!“ „Well it seems like todays your lucky day! They’re free for a short interview but in a bit of a time crunch. I can forward you the contact but if you want to meet them you have to call this number now!“

Ghost Adventures part 2
So I already did a post on the Ghost Adventures episode on Bobby Mackeys, and it turns out they went back in season 4 to shoot another episode. By now I feel the need to keep criticizing these shows, since I put in so many hours researching the nightclub and Pearl Bryan.
Tumblr media
HOLY SHIT THIS BRO IS CLAIMING THE FIRST HUNT HE DID AT BOBBY MACKEYS WAS A BIG FACTOR IN HIS DIVORCE. HOLY SHIT.
Tumblr media
So a detail I find funny is that in Bobby Mackeys song 'Johanna', he sets the scene as being in the 1930s, and Zak Bagans always says that the version of the nightclub she worked at was the Latin Quarter. Jokes on him, the Latin Quarter wasn't established until 1947. The building was known as The Primrose club in the 1930s.
Tumblr media
"What we've discovered in our experiences is when you go into an abandoned building, thats been sitting there for 10, 20, 30 years, the spirits, the ghosts, they've taken ownership of that building."
"This building was abandoned until Bobby Mackey discovered it."
So the building had not sat abandoned for more than a few years between business ventures. Before Bobby Mackey's opened in 1978 it was known as the Hard Rock Cafe (likely not part of the famous chain of restaurants), and there were only a few weeks between the Cafe closing and Mackey's opening. Before it was the Cafe it was the Latin Quarter, and I found a newspaper suggesting that the Latin Quarter stayed in operation until at least 1970. I couldn't find an opening date for the Hard Rock, but articles suggested it was open for a number of years. The building has not sat abandoned for more than a decade for the past hundred years. I doubt it was abandoned for more than a year or two.
Tumblr media
"Confirmed devil worshiper Scott Jackson decapitated his pregnant girlfriend Pearl Bryan right here in this basement as a blood sacrifice to the devil."
NO! NO NO NO NO NO! WRONG! Pearl Bryan was murdered at the intersection of the Alexandria Pike and Highland Ave, several miles away! It's confirmed it happened there because she was found in a large pool of blood that formed when her head was cut off when she was still living, several doctors confirmed it, and I would say modern doctors would agree. And also SCOTT JACKSON WAS NOT A FUCKING SATANIST. HE WAS AN ASSHOLE WHO MURDERED HIS PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE HE WANTED SEX BUT NOT A BABY FROM HER.
This is why you do your own research people. You can enjoy the TV show or movie all you want, but if you really want to know history you have to find real sources for the answers.

[Mischa:]
Yo yo yo yo yo, this is song to tell you that what you is, is what you got
And I'm here to say that I am the money!
What you is
Is what you've got
And I am the money
[Constance:]
Take a look, baby, he's the real ka-ching
[Mischa:]
Lounging with my homies, Friday night scene
The Playstation's up on my 60-inch screen
Mcnuggets in the bag, cristal's on tap
New toothbrush from Tiffany's, still in the bubble wrap
Track lights are glowing like nuclear sciences
Sparkling all over my stainless steel appliances
I'm shining like Midas, I'm the king of ka-ching
Everything I touch goes bling, bling, bling
[Choir:]
Woah
[Mischa:]
My life is awesome
This beat is awesome
[Ricky as robot:]
Robots are awesome
[Constance:]
Take a look, baby, he's the real ka-ching
[Mischa:]
And I'll say it again, my life is awesome
This hook is awesome
[Ricky as robot:]
Robots are awesome
[Mischa:]
Now I'm rolling in my civvie with the pumped-up bass
Blue lights glowing, the vipers on my face
We pass around the chronic, we party all night
We start to get the munchies, so we stop for a bite
Cruise into the lot of the hard rock cafe
Here come the hotties, here come the valet
Front of the line, we don't need ID
[Constance:]
Your usual table, sir?
[Mischa:]
In the VIP
My life is awesome, this beat is awesome
[Ricky as robot:]
Robots are awesome
[Constance:]
Take a look, baby, he's the real ka-ching
[Mischa:]
And I'll say it again, my life is awesome
Auto-tune is awesome
[Ricky:]
0-1-0-1-0-1-1
[Mischa:]
It's time to start the party, but there ain't no party here yet
So we have to take a ride in my brand new learjet
Feeling homesick for my homies in the Ukraine
Landing in Kyiv before we finish off the champagne
Roll to the club where the rich kids go
Them eurotrash bitches all checking out my flow
All kinds of hotties, from all around the world
Then I feel this pair of eyes, and I see this girl
Shawt-ay
oh my god… who?.

Fans, friends mourn passing of Jeff Buckley
Bradley Bambarger
From: Billboard (Vol. 109, Issue 24)
 June 14, 1997
NEW YORK - Memorial services are being planned for singer/songwriter Jeff Buckley, who drowned the evening of May 29 while swimming off Mud Island in Memphis.
Buckley went down in a dangerous section of water near the Mississippi River as an undertow was caused by passing boats, according to a friend present at the scene. His body was found June 4.
An uncommonly gifted, charismatic artist, the 30-year-old Buckley inspired a rare degree of affection from associates and fans around the world. News of his tragic end has elicited waves of laments and tributes, ranging from hundreds of Internet missives to U2 dedicating a song to him at its Giants Stadium concert May 31. A public memorial is being planned for July in New York. A private service for family and close friends will be held sooner.
Buckley had been in Memphis playing a weekly residency at the club Barristers and making preparations to record his second studio album for Columbia Records. He was set to go into Easley Studios with producer/engineer Andy Wallace at the end of June. Buckley made his recording debut in 1993 on Columbia with "Live At Sin-e," a four-song EP taped live at the club Sin-e in New York's East Village, and followed that up the next year with the striking full-length "Grace."
Buckley was born in Southern California to Mary Guibert and the late folk-singing legend Tim Buckley. He barely knew his father but was raised in a musical fashion by his mother and stepfather before leaving home at 17. After living a peripatetic existence, Buckley moved to New York's Lower East Side in the early '90s and coursed his way through the downtown music circles. He eventually hooked up with former Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas in his avant-rock band Gods & Monsters.
Buckley made demos and toured with Gods & Monsters through 199192, leaving soon after to develop his art in solo club shows. His summerlong residency in '93 at the intimate Sin-e was a sensation, displaying his affinity for troubadour and torch styles as well as a tenor voice that was strong, supple, and unusually affecting.
"When I first saw Jeffat Sin-e, I felt how Jon Landau must have felt [seeing Bruce Springsteen]," says Don Ienner, president of Columbia Records (U.S.). "And it wasn't just the future of rock'n'roll I saw in Jeff but an inspired reverence for the past. He was into so much music - from gospel to qawwali, from Nina Simone to Led Zeppelin - and he was such a remarkable guitar player and amazing singer.
"We're all so devastated that he's gone," Ienner continues. "He touched his fans so deeply, and I know that of all the artists I've signed, none has moved me from the start like Jeff. The title of his record was so appropriate: He had this amazing grace. The only consolation for us is that his music will live on."
A bold, deeply felt album, "Grace" features original music that weds such disparate influences as the Smiths and the Doors, and its insightful covers range from Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" to composer Benjamin Britten's "Corpus Christi Carol." Buckley's own songs, particularly "So Real" and "Lover, You Should've Come Over," reveal a searching, sensitive talent. And the two signature tunes reprised from Buckley's time with Lucas, "Mojo Pin" and the title track, are examples of rock at its most transcendent.
"I consider the songs I wrote with Jeff some of the best work I've done," Lucas says. "He was a brilliant collaborator, one of the most talented people I've ever known. Playing again with him at the Knitting Factory's 10th anniversary party in February gave me shivers."
Over the years, Buckley had guested in a variety of musical settings, further demonstrating his catholic enthusiasms and abilities. He sang cafe bohemia with the Jazz Passengers, improv vocalise with John Zorn's Cobra, and 17th-century ballads at Elvis Costello's Meltdown Festival in London. He also played bass on downtown songstress Rebecca Moore's debut album, as well as on tour with the prog-rock outfit Mind Science Of The Mind. And he appeared on the latest albums by Patti Smith and Brenda Kahn and on a Jack Kerouac spoken-word disc. While in Memphis, Buckley was writing songs with members of the grunge-soul band the Grifters.
According to Ienner, Buckley had recorded more than 100 songs over the past three years at home, in rehearsals, and in the studio. That unreleased material includes a batch of demos he had worked on with former Television leader Tom Verlaine as templates for a new record. Ienner says the compilation of any future releases would include the participation of Guibert and Buckley's managers, George Stein and Dave Lory.
Lucas says he has demos and tapes of live radio broadcasts with Buckley that are of a quality typical of their efforts together. "We wrote about a dozen songs, a lot of them just as good as 'Mojo Pin' or 'Grace'," he says. "Jeff had this tremendous spirit that made the work such a thrill. And he touched everyone he came into contact with. It's a tragedy he's gone. There aren't many like him that come along. It's like a light going out."
