sculpted a strange shimmery two headed snail, speckled with wild flowers on it's shell~
#sculpture#snail#fantasy art#I have never sculpted or even drawn a snail before#so hopefully the anatomy is not incredibly off#(though if so.. I guess it could also just pass as further Strange Magical Mutations lol)#It doesn't show up as well in the photo but the shell has some irridescent eyeshadow on it so it kind of alternates a little warm#red and teal as you move it.#Made for an art contest on a game that I play lol (I wouldnt normally think to sculpt a snail on my own if it werent part of a#prompt) but I do kind of like the way it came out.. sort of..#Perhaps a real creature that exists in Nanyevimi (my worldbuilding setting) in some capacity then.. hrmm#also in relevance to this blog i DO STILL WANT TO finish the story with the little adventurer... goursh I have just had so much going on..#all of my little side projects like that have fallen away for so long. was telling a friend about the double today and got to the part where jiang li stops xue fangfei from killing herself by saying she has to live because she can't get revenge if she's dead. and my friend was like wait what french novel does this remind me of? and i was like babe. it reminds you of the count of monte cristo. the double is better though.

What is the drainage like in the Highest Light? What's the infrastructure situation on all those waterfalls? Are any of the waterfalls self-contained / self-feeding, and what's the pump and water engineering on that? What's their system like for significant increases and decreases in water volume of those waterfalls? How is their sewer system laid out? What systems are in place for stormwater management, and how effective is it?
Can someone please put me in touch with their Department of Environmental Protection, because I've got a lot of questions about the drainage and water infrastructure and generally about the water engineering. Their hypothetical and presumed infrastructure problems and concepts are just so interesting to me.

it was raining all day, the sun didnt come up til way after 6am (i know coz i didn't sleep all night) and was already down at 6pm, it's cold enough to wear clothes and use a blanket to sleep without dying and i can finally wash my hands with warm water again..we are so fucking back

While I’m still rainword brained I decided to finally make some concept doodles for my ancients hcs! These guys are all just random designs I made up on the spot but I do quite like them, so who knows maybe I’ll make them proper ocs at some point
#keese draws#rain world#rain world ancients#I’m not going to go too into my hcs as they’re still not super set in stone#but I will share a few tidbits#I was going for mostly avian vibes but I also slapped in a couple of other things as is the rain world style to do#in my minds eye they evolved from a very large species of bird that lived in the mountains#well not exactly bird as they also have several mamaliam traits but yknow bird like#over time they became more land focused as they began to live more communally to raise their young since their young took a lot of time#to raise and the cold climates made it unsafe to leave young alone for very long#they have thick coats of feathery fur that is incredibly dense#they also naturally build a lot of fat#now as the ancients began to expand across their world more and more their thick coats actually presented a lot of issues#so many were often forced to shave down most of their coats#at some point it became something of a custom to take those old shavings and weave them into head accessories#which is what the locks they have are#this is typically done by a family member but can also be done by others or yourself#especially as further decorating these locks became more common seeking professionals for the job became more common

#there's something really beautiful about experiencing the weather patterns of a new place#where i live now. its not like where i grew up. not like the foothills of Appalachia but its more familiar than the Chihuahuan desert was#when i go home to ohio everythings so green. so green. unimaginably green and the towns are in the woods. the hills roll#and trees billow deciduous and packed so tightly the treeline is like a wall of plant matter. here there are trees but they are tall and#evergreen. patchy in places like shrubs in the desert. the grass grows green but also pale tan and dead. houses are routed in valleys#between mountains. they're made of wood and not stucco but they still look strange and the landscape is crumpled together tall. and there's#water. it rains. days can be dreary and gray with drizzle. i forgot what thats like. when a single low stratus cloud blocks out thewhole sk#and fog clings to the trees. my school bus used to drive by a lake where thr fog was so thick i didnt kno how the driver could see the road#but somehow i forgot how much joy suspended water vapor gives me living in a place where when it rains it pours so hard the streets flood#and the greedy ground drinks the landscape dry. but there are new things as well. here smoke rolls up over thr mountains and gets stuck in#the valleys so that the weather forcast reads: Smoke for days on end. im used to tornado warnings and heat warnings and dust storm warnings#but ive never expected Smoke as a type of weather. and im sure there's more to experience. ive only been here like 3 weeks. its not as gree#as home. the storms dont seem to get quite so violent. the woods are so full of bears that its an active threat. but its not the desert#and while ill miss the shapes of desert plants and little lizards. when i look up at the pine and spruce trees i feel like i can breathe a#little easier. well see how i feel once the long cold winter sets in haha#but i dunno. part of me still longs for a violent thunderstorm. one where u can feel the temperature drop and u csn feel it building all da#one that bends the trees and smells like ozone. it was never like that in thr southwest and im not sure that happens here#but maybe thats just a desire for chaos and violence as a product of my pathological internal control. i cant be spontaneous so let nature#bring the fear to me. some of my favorite memories are watching lightning strikes#so it goes i suppose#unrelated#listen. is it fucked up to have ohio nostalgia? maybe so. but in my defense i grew up in the pretty part of ohio lol

I hate it when the weather is going through menopause. We had a nice, chilly, wet and rainy week. Then yesterday we were at nearly 90 F and dry af. Today? We may hit 100 F, and it's still dry af. The rest of the week is looking to be dry, but it'll be 60s F until the weekend...when we'll be in the 80s F again.
Menopause season is so annoying.
#chaosfay talks#it's twice a year and usually lasts about three to four weeks of up and down hot and cold wet and dry. I fucking haaaaate it.#when I was in the Midwest I had a neighbor who would visit family for the entire month of September and May.#the rapid switching between weather and temperature made her joints rage at her so it was off to southern california for her.#I asked why she didn't just live there and it was strictly cost of living. her apartment was $900/month for 400 sq ft. in CA it was more#than twice that for just 300 sq ft. she worked online answering the phone and serving as customer service for several companies.#which meant she could work from anywhere with internet access and a strong cell phone signal.#anyway this rapid change in temperature is making an irritable little shit. I cleaned and packed up my humidifier because the#autumn and winter here is nothing but rain chill and humidity (I love it and so does my asthma). a humidifier is unnecessary.
