Reiterating your revelation, Xavier is not out to just save Queen MC. This seems to be, to me, a common misconception of his character. In my opinion based on what we know about Xavier’s current storyline, Xavier is out to save all of MC from her cycle of reincarnation at the cost of not just his future, but his entire existence and the existence of his planet.

Xavier, like all the LIs, is brought into the current story for his agape, or unconditional love. The concept of agape is one that exists outside socially defined understandings of relationships: it is not something that is simply sexual, simply romantic, or simply familial. It is a love that might include the love between a god and follower, the love between a king and servant, the love between respected work partners. It may be all these things at once, or it may be none of these things at once and more. That is how I personally interpret the transcendent love that is written into the stories of Love and Deepspace. For Xavier specifically, his initial love for MC when he meets her in Anecdote 3 is a liberating one—she shows him a taste of freedom he seemingly never had before. In turn, when they are fated to meet again in his Lightseeker myth, his entire arc is one dedicated to the liberation of MC from her cycle of being used to fuel the life of his planet.

In my humble opinion, Xavier does not seek out the current timeline MC just to be with her. In fact, in the link to my little theory post above Jeremiah insinuates that they initially had a “no contact” rule (Nonintervention Principle) towards MC. I think this hints that Xavier initially did not intend on ever being in MC’s life, but rather, to protect her and find a solution from afar. I think this is also insinuated during his Lumiere myth, where it is revealed that he rescued MC from danger when she was a child. He did not intend to be in a relationship with her or love her romantically. He did not even intend for her to find out about his existence. Of course, like every LI in the game and also like every Chinese drama I’ve seen, fate has other plans and their lives became intertwined in the current main story.

Because of all of this, I feel that Xavier is the type of person who seems to be able to enjoy the present for what it is. He is the type who finds beauty in the everyday and takes things as they are. He is easy-going, patient, and observant as someone who has lived for hundreds of years. Also because of this, he’s pretty aloof which leads to funny little situations (such as getting roped into handing out pamphlets on the street) and he’s very cute! He’s habitual, which is shown through his dialogues such as how him and MC feed the stray cats in the neighborhood, which tells me he is dependable (until he is trying to hide main story secrets lol). He’s also nostalgic, shown through many of his common wish pool cards including Fragment of Time, where he insists walking along a path with you is extra special because you are with him (I feel this is a recurring notion in his stories because it also reminds me of Tender Night where he says something similar with watching the fireworks).

Xavier is both nuanced and simple. He’s aloof yet serious, affable but headstrong. He is subtle, until he’s not. I love that about him! I hope that helps shed a little more light on him :)

I’ve been thinking a lot about Xavier lately. He was my least favourite out of the bunch because I thought it was kinda toxic what he did with Queen MC, leaving her alone etc.

However, I realised that he could’ve just waited for another MC reincarnation and love her but that man, he didn’t. He loved us so much he wanted to find a cure asap even if that meant giving up Philos so that MC won’t be sacrificed anymore.

I also thought why he didn’t tell Queen MC the truth but given our MCs personality (even if she is basically us) she would’ve just said “My life does not matter. I will gladly sacrifice my life for Philos”.

Not to mention that he looks like Leon from Resident Evil and Cloud from Final Fantasy which we simp for in this house👀+ he works in a café…I have a thing for barista boys

Anyway, Xavier girls please give me more reasons to love him💛
