your new album had just came out exactly two weeks ago and you were booked and busy filming promo for your album. your manager, manny, had gotten you a booking with Variety's: Singers on Singers a new concept they were doing that was similar to their 'Actors on Actors.'

obviously you agreed. you had done several shoots and covers with Variety and you loved working with them. about two weeks ago you were aware of who you were going to interview and who was going to interview. and that was chris sturniolo a very well known rapper who went by the name fre$hlove.

you knew about him, mostly everyone knew him, you had even seen him at a few award shows and had seen him performances in them, but you two had never talked before. there were a few songs by him that you really liked and some of those few even made it onto your everyday playlist.

a couple of days after your album came out, you decided to give his new album a listen to ask him some questions about it during the interview. the interview was cut short, according to his and yours manager due to over bookings as you had a radio interview shortly after that.

chris, on the other hand, was excited to do this interview with you. he had known about you for sometime now. he had discovered you when your song played on the radio. the beat was so catchy he caught himself nodding to it. the first time he saw you was at last years Billboard Awards when you performed the same exact song he had heard on the radio. he would be crazy if he didnt find you attractive, when he found out you were the one that was going to be on Variety with him, he might've stalked your socials and listened to your newest album.

per his managers request, he researched your career online for the purpose of knowing a bit about you and an idea of what questions he'll ask you. chris found out a lot about you. he found out the name of your first single and album, the first world tour you went on after you blew up. he even went as far as finding out who your first public boyfriend was.

it was the day of the interview and you were in your dressing room getting glammed by the makeup and hair team. after hair and makeup (1, 2), you changed into your dress, which was a sheer material embroidered with flowers. as you stepped out, looking down and flattening your dress, the click of your heels echoed through the hall. all of a sudden, you collided with someone. "umph- shit- shit im so sorry." you apologize immediately. "woah- nah, you're good. i wasn't looking where i was going."

you look up and see that's it's chris. "angel, right?" he says with a grin on his face. "yeah, yeah that's me. you're chris?" you say, creating some distance between you two. "yup, you ready t'go on?" he refers to the interview. "mhm-" you nod and your eyes gaze over his white jacket and see that's there's a bit of sparkles from from your blush. "oh, i'm sorry," you bring you hand up to wipe it off. "i got my makeup all over your jacket." he chuckles. "you're all good, don't worry." he assures you.

after you wiped it off, the two of you walked to the set and took your seats listening to the producer as the audio team set up the mics. "alright... and- action." the director says. it's quiet for a bit until the two of you break out into a awkward chuckle. "hello." chris manages to say. "hello." you giggle and cross your right leg over your left. "we just had a bit of an awkward first meet a couple of minutes ago."

"yeah- that we did. sorry about your jacket." you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. "s'all good. how's it going?" he asks as he leans back into his seat, his right arm resting over the armrest. "its going good! yeah, great actually." you smile. "we share a release date. congratulations about your album by the way!" you say, your hands moving as you talk. "thank you, thank you. we do, don't we. congratulations to you, too. i actually gave your album a listen shortly after it came out when i had some free time." he shifts in his seat.

"thank you, i also gave yours a listen. it was really good." you nodded. he chuckled, thanking you again. "alright, so how'd you get into music, what started it all?" chris asks, leaning a bit forwards "well, i've always had a huge amount of love for music ever since i was little. i always participated in the school talent shows, i would perform songs for my family during the holidays. but, my whole career started when i was eighteen. i had uploaded a- uh cover of You're So Vain on youtube and it went viral" he nodded as he listened.

"my childhood best friend, violet, had sent me a screenshot of ariana grandes story because she has reposted my cover, which was pretty insane. and then a couple of weeks after that, i got an email from my now music label." the whole time she spoke, chris listened intently, interested in what she had to say.

"and here i am now." you giggle finishing your story. "you're a triplet, right?" you ask him and his face lights up. he was surprised that you knew that about him. "yeah, i am. i'm the youngest, actually." he says, smiling. "do they- are they in the music industry?" you furrowed your eyebrows. "nah, we're all in completely different industries. i'm in music, nick has his own cosmetics company and matt does modeling for prada." you smile at the way he lit up talking about his brothers. "wow, that's incredible, i'm sure you're really proud of them."

"i am, i really am. i like going to matt's shows to see him walk, and since we look almost exactly alike im always thinking: that piece would look good on me." you giggle. "wait- that's actually pretty smart."

the two of you continue to ramble on about the music industry and personal projects. "so, how about you? what inspires your songs?" chris' hand comes up along his jaw. "well, i always write about life experiences -moments - things that have happened to me and impacted me throughout time. could be joy, heartbreak, or growth. to me it's almost healing in a way- most of the time. obviously there are some songs i've written for myself, and i feel like those are very vulnerable so i tend to keep em' to myself." chris nods, agreeing with her.

"i totally agree- yeah. it almost like a secret that you're not really ready to share with anybody but yourself, but it's also something that you're really proud of." you gasp and point at his words. "it's exactly like that."

throughout the rest of the interview, you both had connected very well and had almost forgotten that you two were being recorded. it was so natural almost as if the two of your had known each other for years. "well, it was really great talking to you. i feel honored to have done this with you." chris said with a smile on his face. "thank you, thank you, i feel the same way."

the interview had ended and chris had gotten up, so did you, and he went up to you with open arms. engulfed in a hug, the scent of your sweet perfume dizzied him in the best way possible. "it was really nice meeting you." you told him and the two of you pulled away. "it was nice meeting you too. can i-" someone came up to the two of you. "angel, we've gotta go to your radio show." chris looked at who he assumed was your manager.

"oh! right- i forgot." you shot chris a smile before walking away to your dressing room. chris stood there for a couple seconds before getting out of his trance and rushing over to his dressing room.

chris had just gotten out of his outfit and changed into a more comfy outfit before he left. he exited the dressing room in hopes to catch you and exchange numbers, something he wanted to ask you before your manager interrupted. he saw that your dressing room door was open, but it was empty. chris asked around for you, but he unfortunately gotten the news that you had already left for said radio show.

once chris had went around the studio thanking everyone for their kindness and how lovely it was working with them, took a bit too long, he went to his car, parting ways with his manager, he instantly went through the different radio stations in hopes to hear your interview.

later that day, chris had hung out with his friend jack. like always, chris walked through his day and mentioned that he had done a interview with you and he failed to get your number. "angel, like y/n? yeah, i know er'. we go back a few years." chris was stunned, what a small world. "really? you mind asking if you could pass me her number?" jack smirked, knowing where he was going with this. "nah, not at all." he said as he pulled out his phone.

The only thing I've learned over the course of Campaign 3 is that the Critter community has difficulty taking consistent and apparent, but occasionally not explicitly communicated, information to come to a conclusion on their own. Or not capable of using provided resources to gain further context for information.

And to be clear ... this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Campaign 3 itself, it's plot, it's story, or literally anything contained within the game itself, or what anyone thinks of it.

We are 3+ years into this release schedule in addition to 4 1/2 years total into Critical Role doing nearly exclusively prerecorded content. They methodically share their expected broadcast schedule. They stick to a reliable pattern. They make this information easy to obtain in multiple ways.

It has been my bugbear for years now that, despite all of this, there is always a significant uptick in questions about if there is an episode on Thursdays [this past and current Thursday somewhat not withstanding for obvious reasons] across nearly every corner of Critter space. This has grown notably more common over the years. This really makes it feel like the community attracts people less likely to seek out resources or attempt to discern answers for themselves.

The last year has gotten SO BAD with this.

I will see the same person post across 3-4 different social media asking if there's an episode tonight ... even if you're a 1000% noob to CR it would have taken you less time to google Critical Role, click on their home page, and see that their Programing Schedule is in their main page carousel ... than it would take for a rando on the web to answer you.

I will see people that have been in Discord servers for a reasonable amount of time ask if there's not an episode today when the last message posted 10 min ago clearly states it's an off week because it's the last Thursday of the month.

I will see so many people that are not new be confused every time there is a CR cast member doing something 'live' or they are at an out of area event while CR is on or has an episode that night.

And now because of the unfortunate situation with the fires in California I've got a whole new one where apparently people generally didn't notice that when CR puts out their Programing Schedule it's normally accompanied by promo pictures from the upcoming Campaign 3 episode if there is that one that week ... I've had to explain to way more people that I though would need to know this that ... in order for this to happen they have to have filmed that episode before the Programing Schedule is put out on Mondays.

You have always been off the grid as chris’ girlfriend. All your social medias was private other than the fact that chris now had millions of followers digging into your daily lives. You both met back in college in your english class and started off as friends for the 4 years and he finally had the courage to ask you out at graduation. Ever since, y’all have been inseparable. He would bring you up in any conversation, post you on his instagram, being you to set. He was the best person you have ever met.

With chris getting a huge role in the show The Summer I Turned Pretty, you knew people would try and get in between y’all’s relationship. Since the fans couldn’t reach you, they would comment things on chris’ instagram just for you. But it never crossed chris’ mind that he would ever lose you, he would always talk about you no matter what no matter where.

And now season 2 has been filmed and now the first few episodes have been released, it was time for the cast to film some promo videos and production boosts for the fans. Chris brought you along for the day so you sat backstage in almost every video just smiling at the cast but mostly your boyfriend. You watched as they went through the truths and dared having a dance battle to eating horseradish. It was now chris turn to go and he picked out a truth.

“kiss sean kaufman again.” you rolled your eyes playfully

“again.” sean said jokingly “guys who put that one again.” and the whole cast started talking over each other

“nah, it’s what it said.” chris shows the paper around but too fast for anyone to see “look at it. it’s what it said.”

“one day it’s actually going to say kiss sean.” lola said before chris cleared his throat and read the paper

“besides your phone, what is the one item in your house you couldn’t live without.” you knew the answer instantly it was Aquaphor it’s what he cared almost as much as he cared about you, you introduced it to him about a few years ago and he hasn’t stopped using it since

“aquaphor,” gavin said before anyone

“aquaphor.” chris reached into his coat jacket and pulled out the tiny bottle you bought him last week “i’m on it because of my girlfriend.” he glanced at you before looking at the bottle and opened it “it’s the best things that’s ever happened to me… um.. besides.. my girlfriend.” he guested towards you and your cheeks instantly filled with heat as the cast looked at you “her introducing me to aquaphor.” he rubbed some on his lips

“she’s blushing!” lola pointed towards you and you laughed messing with your rings on your finger out of nervousness and chris gave you an apologetic look knowing you don’t like a lot of attention

After the interview was over you went into the back room where the cast was and sat down before their next interview. You sat on the couch drinking a lemonade while the cast talked around you. Sometime you didn’t like being here, you felt out of place sometimes.

“hey girly.” lola sat down next to you. you and lola have became very close friends despite all the rumors saying you hated her for kissing your boyfriend when it was all acting for a tv show

“hey, you ready for the next interview?” you turned towards her slightly

“yeah but my bed is really calling my name right now.” she sighed taking a sip of her water

“chris has mixed feelings about the interviews, he never wants to say anything wrong he really gets into his head about it. plus these are your last interviews before the strike happens so.”

“yeah it honestly sucks that we have to do this but it’s worth it, it’s also stopping us from telling the fans about season 3 too. we can’t promote anything.”

“it will be worth it in the end.” you smiled at her and a body fell next to you, glancing to your side you saw chris sipping on water too “hey you.” he smiled tipping his head to kiss the side of your forehead

“tired.” he whispered

“we’ll go home soon enough.” you leaned into his side and he wrapped an arm around you

“sorry i mentioned you with the aquaphor, it’s just really important to me and you kinda slipped out.”

“shush, it’s okay i want people to know you love the product more than me.” you nudged him with your shoulder

“hey that’s not true!”

“sure sure, anyone on the cast can tell you otherwise baby.” he shook his head playfully at you and brought you in closer to him

He was lucky to have you by his side in this major point in his life. He would never choose anyone other than you to be with him right here right now.

These are just shows since I think for format would fit Are You Sure?! the best. None of these had a schedule. The only release schedule I've found for time type of visual media was for Jimin's Production Diary, which had more smaller elements in it's promo compared to the others.

Other than this albums and some singles have had merch. And the Type1 photobook has a long line of merch sold at the offline exhibition.

Anon, how diligent! thank you! So the only relevant difference between this show and the others is the photobook. The rest varies a bit but it's pretty much the same. Mmm I think the comparison with Tae's photobook doesn't apply because they are two different formats/projects, that would be comparable to the photobook the guys did two years ago or so, I think.

May 2023

band: the whole eurovision journey from befriending all the contestants to Bojan's date and eventual engagement with Käärijä to the band giving condoms to everyone and their mom to the rehearsals to the iconic turqoise carpet to the Käärijä sauna to the voting promo to the qualification to the finals to Bojan licking the camera and to Joker Out becoming pretty much esc legends despite finishing 21st in the final. the beginning of everything, absolutely chaotic but i wouldn't imagine it any other way

fandom: the formation this sounds cliche yes but i was here since April 2023 and it was... very silent. the non-esc related jo stuff were limited and people were still discovering them so yeah i was sitting here hoping that after esc people would stick around so we can scream together about the band as a band and not only as esc contestants. and thankfully people did that and here we are now 🥹

June 2023

band: first international gigs the gigs in Dublin are one thing but then came the announcements of the Nordic tour, the Warsaw gigs, the headline gigs in Novi Sad and Zagreb... honourable mention to Stožice going sold out

fandom: Tavastia 1.0 there's absolutely no way i will even forget how the jo, ka and esc fandoms had a collective meltdown when Bojan casually showed up in Helsinki and then joined Käärijä on stage on both his Tavastia gigs (mind you both as a singer and as a dancer lmao). no wonder why this moment still has a chokehold on all of us. 9th of June 2023, you will always be famous

July 2023

band: the appearance of Demoni scream i know that festivals and the first UK run were important and gave us some iconic moments too (like some slay outfits and Jan's sparklative confusion), but the damn Demoni scream is so dear to me it kinda tops it all. it's so good to see how Bojan embraced it after that first time (2/7/23 in Škofja Loka) and now there can't be Demoni without the scream/growl/whatever you wanna call it

fandom: the Jance wedding on stage iirc the Jance brainrot had started spawning before 29/7 but that Saturday night was the cherry on top. so glad we got to experience this live as well since there was a livestream going on that night and we saw Jan putting the veil on Nace himself <3

August 2023

band: the Koper gig i wasn't even there okay but judging from the content and people's comments on it, it was probably one of the most iconic jo gigs. also my favourite jo video in existence is coming from that night (here) side note: i've been to Slovenia once in my life, 11 years ago, and funnily enough we were staying in Koper and i recognised the place they had the concert. anyway, visit Slovenia and Koper, it's a very nice small seaside town and it's worth the visit <3

fandom: the collective screaming about things to be completely honest i don't remember much from that month in terms of fandom, but i kinda remember how most of us had started diving into the band's past more and more and “new” old content was posted almost every day. videos, photos, gifs, interviews, the amazing @jokeroutsubs translating more old content...

September 2023

band: Nordic tour i won't even start talking about this because you'll never hear the end of it. we all know what the Nordic tour was. even the release of SSOL, the first single after esc, can't top this whole thing, sorry

fandom: google drive content and *shocked gasp* Nordic tour another collective meltdown for the fandom. first being bombarder with backstage videos on a damn google drive folder (that ended up being a frequent occurence in the following months) to the whole run of the Nordic tour. do i need to say more? i feel like i can't. only this: Nordic tour, you will always be famous

October 2023

band: Stožice not much to say here either. they sold out a whole arena months prior to the actual concert date. it was their moment. a milestone (probably their biggest to date). and it was amazing to witness this in any possible way, whether it was by attending the concert or watching an ig livestream or keeping track of the photos and videos of that night

fandom: Stožice and Halloween outfits the chokehold both the Stožice and the Halloween (aka pilots and flight attendands) outfits had on the whole fandom... also love how we collectively agreed that Kris' Stožice outfit was his version of Princess Diana's revenge dress and how the Halloween outfits sent the fandom into a spiral in means of creations (fanart, fanfics etc)

November 2023

band: the whole touring well they did have a number of gigs during November and they seemed to be having so much fun 🥰 so much that at the end of November they announced their first proper european tour

fandom: collective screaming about things once again i mean all the gigs were feeding us well. the outfits alternating or not, Jance/Bokris moments, Bonace getting more spotlight (Bojan was and still is going through something during Demoni and Ona like wtf was he doing to Nace was it the serbian lyrics waking up something wild in him 😭😭😭). there was a lot going on back in November… honourable mentions: this Bokris moment, cvjetits (x x) and Kris riding Jure

December 2023

band: the whole Munich experience there's a good chance jo don't remember their whole stay in Munich for the first time as one of the best ones ever, especially if they think about the 1,5k euro taxi they paid as part of making it to The Hague in time for the next gig. but if anything, i feel like this captures their whole vibe as a band; ✨purely chaotic✨

fandom: european tour vlog and Bojan with the bi flag we waited for a long time for a Nordic tour vlog. maybe we didn't get it as an individual video but even as part of the whole tour vlog it was great and definitely worth the wait. also it was a great xmas gift let's be real 😌 now Bojan with the bi flag was probably not a very huge fandom moment and my bi ass may be biased here (this rhymed lol), but seeing him wrap himself with the bi flag followed by that speech before Barve Oceana in Barcelona will always be such a precious moment to me and i'll cherish it forever 💖 note: when i saw them last month in Munich i immediately started crying when i heard the first notes of Barve Oceana live; not only because i love the song and i finally heard it live, but also because i instantly thought of that moment of Bojan with the bi flag and the speech)

January 2024

band: Joker Out cooking livestreams London era my beloved (i never thought i'd say this about a city in the UK out of all places). their whole stay in London was an Experience both for the band and the fandom but well they got their chance to show the world they can cook besides playing music and they did. now let's not get into the kind of cooking they did, but the livestreams were very entertaining and bless them for doing them 😅

fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos yeah no i don't think i need to say more here, i'm still not over those photoshoots and i still can't quite believe they actually happened. like?????????? jo???? photographed individually or not by Damon fucking Baker???? ugh 😫 on that note i want to add that i loved and still love how those photos sparked the creativity in this fandom. from analyses of each photo to fanfics to fanart to creating anything in general. one of my favourite moments of the fandom <3

February 2024

band: release of Everybody's Waiting the whole road to the release of this single was Something with the band continuing the usual shenanigans and with Damon still releasing unseen photos of them. the release of it may have gotten us divided because of its language or the path they chose to take music-wise (it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's more than fine), but personally i like this for them. it's different, it showed a different side of them which they wanted to explored; they got a chances to do it and they did it. and you know what? it's so good live

fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos, Jure edition this could be merged with my fave fandom moment of January 2024 but this one is special because we just saw another Jure like WTF WAS THAT 😭 anyway i loved how we all kind of lost it when his photos dropped note: the moment Damon posted Jure's photos i was on my way to meet my friends in Dresden of all places and i was so shocked by what i saw i almost ran into a lighting column on the street 💀💀💀

March 2024

band: Jan and Bojan playing the piano at every gig of the tour i could've said the whole tour is my favourite thing from this March and it's not like it's not, this is a big moment for the band. it's just that once again i'm a bit biased here. many people, my pianist ass included, wished there would be a piano or some keyboard on stage during the tour because come on if Jan plays the keys for Everybody's Waiting studio version then why not do it live too? and you know what's better? not only there was a piano on stage for the whole tour, but not only Jan but also Bojan played it. however, Bojan playing it for Everybody's Waiting and Jan playing it for Padam, Metulji and the cases where they had special guests (like in Estonia with Alika, Lithuania with Monika and Belgium with Gustaph)... those were not on my bingo card and they were the most pleasant surprise ever 😌

fandom: meeting each other at the gigs when the tour started and even though i knew i would go to at least two gigs, i was extremely nervous because this meant i'd probably come across other fans from here and social media in general. as a person with anxiety, one of my worries was how i'd be perceived and how i'd manage to not come across as a snob person because i'm shy and scared to talk to people i don't know. as the tour went on and i saw people meeting each other irl after only knowing each other via tumblr/twitter/instagram, i got more nervous but also had a warm feeling in my chest because seeing people meet, bond over things they like and have fun at gigs together is actually very wholesome 🫶 i hoped i would get to experience this too at the italian gigs but i was still nervous. and then, around the middle of March, i made the spontaneous decision to do the Munich gig too, but instead of getting even more nervous i just got myself on autopilot. and i'm glad i did because if i hadn't i wouldn't have met some of you neither in Munich nor in Milan or Padua. i wouldn't get to trade stuff and joke about things and talk about fandom stuff or even about fanfics lmao 😂 anyway, point is that i most probably was worried about nothing. i got to meet so many people at the gigs and i had so much fun despite the inconveniences that may had showed up in the way (i don't wanna talk about it tbh) and everyone was so welcome and lovely i'll never shut up about it 😭 also i’m taking this opportunity to say that if we attended the same gigs but didn't get to meet, i'm so sorry about it really but we will do it at some point i'm telling you! and i also wish i get to meet more of you from in here so we can yap about things outside of tumblr too. btw i still have stickers to give away and i will make more whenever the time comes again <3

Fight The Feeling Prologue- Part 7 Celebrations & Realizations

18+ Smut

Summary- You and Jack celebrate your one year anniversary and Jack's birthday with a trip to the Bahamas, the same place he took you for your first date.

Over the next 4 months, you spent 2 and a half with Jack in Louisville, most of that being over the holidays so it wasn’t odd that neither of you were working. Jack and his friends even convinced you to look at some houses and apartments in the area, but you ultimately decided that it wasn’t the right time. Jack offered to let you move in with him, but even though you had spent the last 2 and a half months practically living with him, you didn’t want him to make a decision like that without putting more thought into it other than just not wanting you to leave.

The month and a half after that was busier for you and Jack. You were traveling for runway shows or photoshoots, Jack started recording his album Come Home The Kids Miss You, and he had the celebrity all star basketball game, which you figured out a way to go to so you could support Jack.   

After the Celebrity basketball game, it was your 1-year anniversary, which was around the same time as Jack’s birthday.  You wanted to celebrate your anniversary and Jack’s birthday separately.  Not because you wanted a specific trip just for your anniversary, but because you didn’t want Jack to have to share his birthday celebration with your anniversary. Jack insisted it was okay, he was going to have his party at home anyways, and with Jack releasing Come Home The Kids Miss You in May, and all the promo he had in April, along with the couple of photoshoots you had, neither of you had time to take two separate trips.

You both took a week off, and even though your trip was partly for Jack’s birthday, he insisted on planning everything, letting you plan a day for his birthday, but he insisted that your anniversary was more important than his birthday. 

Jack planned a trip to the Bahamas, similar to your first date trip, but this time it was for a full week instead of a weekend, and instead of staying in a hotel, Jack rented out a private house on the beach for the two of you. You were both less known a year ago, so you weren’t as worried about being recognized, now you were. 

You two spent the first two days between the beach and the house, enjoying each other’s company with no distractions. You both told your teams to only contact you in if it was an emergency. On the third day was when you planned Jack’s birthday celebration. You wanted it to be a complete surprise, so all you told Jack was to dress up for dinner. 

“Our car is almost here.” You told Jack and he nodded, sitting down on the bed, watching you get ready, he had been ready for a few minutes.

“Okay, I’m ready whenever you are baby.” Jack told you and you nodded.

“Okay, can you help me put my necklace back on please?” You asked, carrying your necklace over to Jack. Jack had been giving you one gift every day of the trip instead of giving you all your gifts at one time, the first day’s gift was a new purse, and the second day’s gift was the diamond necklace you had in your hands. You had taken it off before you both went into the ocean, not wanting to risk anything happening to it.

“Of course.” Jack said, taking the necklace from you and waiting until you turned around to clip it on. Jack pressed a kiss to the back of your neck before wrapping his arms around your waist.

“I love you.” Jack said, his lips brushing against your skin.

“I love you too.” You said, turning in his arms to kiss him gently. “Let me put my shoes on and then we can go.” You told him and he nodded. You walked over to where your heels were, putting them on and grabbing your purse.

“Where are we going?” Jack asked, standing up from the bed.

“Just to dinner.” You told Jack and he nodded. “Everyone already signed NDA’s, including the driver, so we don’t have to worry about anything getting out.” 

“You didn’t have to do all of this.” Jack told you.

“I know.” You said, slipping two small, wrapped boxes into your purse as Jack eyed them suspiciously. “But, I wanted to.” You said.

“What are those?” Jack asked as you both started to walk out to the car, Jack resting his hand on your lower back.

“Your presents.” You told him, both of you getting in the car, greeting the driver, but he already knew where to go so Jack didn’t figure out where you were going. 

“Baby, you didn’t have to get me anything.” Jack told you and you smiled softly, tracing patterns on the back of his hand as he rested his hand on your thigh.

“I wanted to. You spoil me all the time, so let me spoil you tonight.” You said. “Plus, I only have half of one of your gifts, the other half is in Louisville.”

“What did you do?” Jack asked and you laughed softly.

“You’ll find out soon.” You smiled softly.

As the car pulled up to the restaurant, Jack looked over at you. 

“I’ve been trying to book this place for a month now for our anniversary, how did you book it?” Jack asked. You had gotten a reservation at one of the fanciest restaurants in the area, with your anniversary being during one of the peak times to travel to the Bahamas, and the fact that you wanted to book the whole restaurant, it wasn’t an easy reservation to get.

“I have my connections.” You smiled softly, grabbing your purse as you and Jack thanked the driver after you got out of the car.

“I have connections too, but not as good as yours clearly.” Jack joked making you laugh.

“Well, I know the owner’s daughter, and I might have told them if anyone under the name Jack Harlow tries to make a reservation, say you can’t do it.” You told Jack and he teasingly shook his head.

“I love you, but damn, I tried absolutely everything I could think of. Had me all stressed out and shit.” Jack said, laughing, kissing you gently once you walked in. 

“Sorry.” You giggled, kissing him once more before you were led to your table by your waiter.

You had rented out the restaurant, so it was just the two of you, other than the few staff members who were working. Once you were both finished with dinner, you decided to give Jack one of his gifts. 

“Ok, so.” You started, sitting back in your chair, Jack sitting across from you, his hand resting on top of yours.” I have two of your gifts here, well, one and a half technically.” You pulled one of the boxes out of your bag. “Technically, this one is for our anniversary.” You said, handing Jack a box. 

“Baby, thank you.” Jack said as he took the box from you. He unwrapped the box before opening it, seeing a Rolex watch inside, pulling it out and seeing the date Jack asked you to be his girlfriend engraved on the inside. “This is so sweet, thank you.” Jack smiled, running his finger over the engraving before you handed him the other box, Jack putting the watch back in the box carefully.

“You’re welcome.” You smiled softly. “This one is technically for your birthday, not that it really matters, but the other part of it is in Kentucky, I couldn’t exactly get it onto the plane.” You said and Jack looked at you suspiciously.

“What did you get?” Jack asked.

“Just open it and see.” You giggled, sitting up, out of all of Jack’s gifts, even though it wasn’t the hardest to get, his third gift was the most time consuming, you were the most excited for this gift. Jack opened the box, seeing what was inside, looking between you and the box a couple times.

“No, I can’t let you get this for me, this is too much.” Jack insisted and you laughed softly. 

“It’s already parked in your driveway.” You told Jack and he continued to look at you in disbelief. 

“You really got me the Jeep?” Jack asked and you nodded.

“I did, it’s the one that when we see one you always talk about how much you want it but you still haven’t bought it for yourself, so I bought it for you.” You said and laughed softly when Jack stood up, walking around the table to hug you.

“I seriously can’t accept it but thank you so much.” Jack said.

“Nope, you’re keeping it, I’m not letting you give it back to me, you deserve it.” You told him, pulling away from the hug to kiss him. Jack continued to kiss you several more times.

“Thank you so much, I don’t even know what to say.” Jack told you and you shook your head.

“You’re welcome, and you don’t have to say anything.” You told Jack and he nodded, kissing you again. 

Later that night, you and Jack were sitting in the living room, when you got up, walking to the bedroom to get his last present. You walked back into the living room, handing him the box.

“What’s this for? My birthday or our anniversary?” Jack teased and you rolled your eyes, laughing.

“The watch was for our anniversary because it has our anniversary date on it, the car was for your birthday because I had planned on giving it to you on your birthday, but I didn’t think I could hide a car in your driveway for that long.” You explained and Jack laughed softly.

“You know, that makes a lot of sense.” Jack said and you shook your head, laughing again. 

“So, this is something I’ve been working on, it’s just a sample product, if there’s anything you want to change you can, I also figured you’d want to order some for your friends, so I can take care of that when I get home.” You told him, Jack was confused at what the gift could be, but he opened it up anyways.

When Jack opened the box, he saw two pairs of custom New Balances, one in red and one in blue with the title of his album embroidered on the back.

“Baby.” Jack said, his eyes tearing up. “This is the sweetest thing someone has ever done for me.” Jack said, your eyes tearing up now. “You designed these?” He asked.

“Well, I picked the color and put the album title on the back, but I figured you would want a pair for your friends, so just let me know what sizes and I’ll order them.” You told Jack and he leaned over to kiss you. “Though, you can’t change the album name now.” You joked, and Jack laughed.

“So that’s why you were so adamant about the album name not changing.” Jack said and you nodded, laughing softly. Normally, you wouldn’t have cared what Jack named his album, but once you started planning the shoes, Jack had mentioned changing the album name, which caused you to panic because if he would have, your gift wouldn’t have worked.

“Yeah, and I couldn’t say why without ruining the surprise.” You said. 

“Well, thank you.” Jack said. “I love you, thank you for making me feel appreciated and loved tonight, and every day.” 

“I love you too. That is all I want to do, you make me feel like a literal princess every day, so any time I can make you feel a little extra special is worth it to me.” You told Jack, leaning over to kiss him.

“I’m so glad we got to take this trip together.” Jack said, putting the shoes to the side before pulling you gently to his chest as he leaned back on the couch.

“Me too.” You smiled, kissing Jack softly as you ran your hands through Jack’s hair. Neither of you pulled away until Jack’s phone started to ring. Jack groaned as he grabbed his phone from the couch, seeing Neelam was calling him.

“It better be fucking important.” Jack muttered underneath his breath, making you giggle. “I’ll be right back.” Jack said, as you moved off him. Jack walked into the other room, coming back a few minutes later.

You could tell just by the way he walked back in that he was excited, a major change in his demeanor from when he walked out annoyed.

“Guess what?” Jack asked, holding back his smile.

“What?” You asked, giggling at his happiness.

“I got the part.” Jack said, smiling and you gasped.

“Really?” You asked, and Jack nodded, you smiled, jumping up from the couch almost immediately, hugging Jack as he picked you up and you wrapped your legs around his waist, his hands going to your butt to hold you up, even though he could have placed his hands on your thighs, Jack never missed an opportunity to place his hands on your butt.

“Really.” Jack smiled as you kissed him.

“I’m so proud of you.” You told him. “You’re going to do amazing. I already know it. Do you know anything else about it?” You asked, you had known Jack was auditioning for the remake of White Men Can’t Jump, but he hadn’t told you much more than that.

“Neelam said that Alexa Demie will be playing my love interest, but that’s all she told me for now. She said we can go over everything else once I get back.” Jack said and you nodded slightly.

Truthfully you weren’t sure how to feel about that, you knew it was just acting, just a role Jack was playing, but he had just said in an interview before you left that Alexa Demie was one of his top celebrity crushes. You trusted Jack, but you knew fans would go crazy with rumors. 

“I’m so happy for you.” You said, kissing Jack. “You deserve this. You’re officially a movie star.” Jack placed you down on the couch before sitting down next to you.

“A movie star huh?” Jack asked and you nodded. 

“My movie star.” You told him, and even though Jack would never admit it, your saw him blush.

“Hm, I like the sound of that.” Jack said pulling you back on top of him so you could lay on his chest. “Come with me?” Jack asked.

“What?” You asked, tilting your head up to look at Jack.

“Come with me. I know we’ve been talking about you moving in with me, or at least moving to Kentucky, but I’ll be in L.A. filming for a couple months, so instead of you moving to Kentucky just for me to leave, you should come to L.A. with me. I’ll rent a house, probably not as fancy as this one, because this cost a lot more than I thought it would.” Jack joked, making you laugh softly. “But we’ll be able to be together. A lot of your work is in L.A. right now anyways, so instead of getting hotel rooms, let’s just rent a house.

“You know.” You smiled softly. “I did just sign that lease at the last apartments we looked at.” You told Jack.

“Really?” Jack asked excitedly and you nodded. 

“I did, just for a couple months until we figure out what we want to do, but we both liked it, so I figured we could decide if we wanted to move into that apartment or yours. You and Jack spent the last night of your trip staying up way to late because neither of you wanted it to end. You ended up falling asleep first, around two in the morning, but Jack couldn’t sleep.

Similar to how on your first trip to the Bahamas where Jack realized he loved you, Jack realized on this trip that he wanted to marry you. Jack spent most of the night looking for an engagement ring before he eventually sent a text to a custom jeweler that he had worked with previously and knew wouldn’t leak anything, asking for information about getting a custom engagement ring made.

Don't you think pjms theories are too much of a reach? I don't think the company is sabotaging Jimin or that Bang/Scooter hate Jimin. There's not enough evidence to affirm those things to me. The company is just inefficient, stupid and money hungry. They are in a position to give better support to Bts solo songs that are not tied to western producers, they just don't want to spend money because a bts solo has some degree of success guaranteed anyway.

I have stanned idols who sued their company, who shaded their company until they left. And Jimin doesn't do those things. He complained about the MVs, but that's about it. He looks happy, he jokes around with staff. To me he is not being mistreated, it just looks like it because they company is incompent.

No, I don't think everything is a reach. I don't think they particularly hate Jimin, it's not personal. It's just that Jimin wasn't who they were planning on investing in, and they had other things to prove and he unfortunately stepped in their way. I even think they would've done the same to any other member, of course not everyone has the star quality Jimin has.

They're not incompetent. You don't build a multi billion dollar company if you're incompetent, for god's sake. You're naive and everyone thinking the same is naive or playing dumb. A lot of what they did for Jungkook's promo they already did it for BTS as a group before; they actually did more for Jungkook than they even did for BTS. They've always known what to do, they just didn't do it for anyone else. And even if some things slipped out of their hands, fans have been tagging them and asking them to fix it and they never did. Even though they fixed everything people complained about regarding seven.

What do you mean to say, that from April to July they learned everything didn't learn in 10 years? Because that's the time between like crazy and seven; 3 months. How does that make sense? Even more, the moment Jungkook was in that studio booth, they were already planning everything for seven. So, did they learn everything between March 24th and April 7th?

All solo releases had a settled and agreed on budget by the company. I doubt the members get involved with numbers; it's the company who decides on the budget. But even knowing and understanding that, some things are hard to understand still.

Jimin didn't get 6 videos because it was "irrational" but rookie group new jeans got 6 videos. Jungkook is going to get at least 2 more when he releases his album, and I don't even have to talk about predictions but present day is enough: there's like 10 visualizers (I think it's more than that now because I keep getting the notifications) for this one single and those videos cost money too.

I get that the physical CDs that the fans have been asking for cost money, but here's the thing.. they were sold out in the first or second week. So they never planned on restocking anyways, they manufactured a certain amount that got sold out in the first week and they never restocked because they were never planning on manufacturing more. Now, Jungkook has a month worth of CDs stock, I heard that the they stocked 38k CDs a couple of days ago and I believe the first stock was 10k, and since then they've restocked like 4 times so I'm sure they're already around the 100k CDs sold. I would even bet you that if they run out of their initial stock, they will manufacture more CDs if necessary for this single.

The same is happening to other BTS releases, by the way. They've been sold out for months and they're only restocking for Jungkook. It wasn't an exaggeration when I said all the money the 7 have earned is solely going into Jungkook's career. I will keep saying that because it's a fact.

By not restocking those CDs, they're limiting their support for their own artists. But they're also limiting the support fans can give them, because how can they buy if the product is not available. And that is sabotage, no matter the reason behind.

You say "They are in a position to give better support to Bts solo songs that are not tied to western producers, they just don't want to" well exactly, and that is not incompetence. They just don't want to.

"Demand, impact" bla bla bla. If they were to restock 50k CDs of like crazy, they will sell all. And they know that. It's not that they're scared they'll manufacture and ship CDs and make no revenue; they know there's demand, they just don't want to do it.

Budget and money aside, there's still important things they could've done, important things they could still do that they don't need money for.

There's no need to for budget to combine a song's streams or let people know about change in a chart rules. The English and Korean versions were released combined, it gained streams the following two days simply because it's a good song, and it hit #1 on global. The day after it was #1, the numbers were split and thus affecting its chart position. It's almost like for three days it didn't matter but it mattered the moment it was #1, because that was the debut they had planned for a different member. Seven, of course, combined from the begining and still no problems.

Spotify customer service said the label was in charge of combining songs, that they could do it if the label asked. I wasn't sure if I believed them at first, because sometimes databases get messed up and also Spotify customer service is kinda bad. But for several reasons, one being that issue with Post Malone's song, and the other being scooter's attempt at changing the number of streams for seven after its debut, I believe them now and I'm sure that if hybe wanted to, they could.

They didn't need budget to let people know about the change in the chart rules. They didn't care to, they didn't want to announce it until Yoongi had a song out. I don't know if you remember, but this is how things played out:

-> like crazy predicted between #4 - #6 for the second week

-> announcement that 100k+ sales were deducted from the total sold that week

-> a couple of hours later: instagram posts about Jungkook "making history" with bangpd and scooter

-> bangpd on the cover of billboard magazine the next week

If you think all of that was a coincidence, you do you.

And they didn't need budget to let people know what happened to those 100k sales. They still haven't given any explanation on that.

Did they need budget to put like crazy on this is BTS playlist? Did they need to hear Jimin say he wants to be a giant popstar?

None of that has anything to do with personal aspirations the members might have and it has everything to do with management. And no, I don't believe they're incompetent.

I said this earlier this year and I still stand by it:

There is no doubt it was Jimin who decided for who long he'd promote and what activitites. Of course, I'm not ignoring that Yoongi's release was stepping on Jimin's tail, so I also think Jimin could've been somewhat obliged to cram everything into a few days because he knew Yoongi was next.

I know Jimin decided on the shows and performances he went to; Jimin always been tied emotionally to their Korean fans, and he's always respected and honored them; during the pandemic and for festa 2022 he mentioned several times wanting to do music shows. He's had a good relationship with Jimmy Fallon for years, he chose to go to his show because he likes him. I never expected Jimin to go to live lounge as well as I don't expect Jungkook to ever do a stage like set me free pt2 or even like crazy.

I could consider -I have considered- the option that everything was just bad luck or something and that after knowing it was possible to have such a debut like Jimin, hybe he wanted a piece of the cake and to seriously take credit for success like that, so they decided to go all out for JK (this is where personal aspirations come into play), making sure that everyone knew who were the people involved. Because everyone knows who's behind seven. Even Jungkook won't miss any opportunity to talk about receiving the song and being granted this chance. He literally said his life changed because they gave him this song.

I mean...

But there are two things that won't let me really commit to the possibility that all happened by chance; one being all the mediaplay around JK since early 2022. Two, and the most relevant to me it's that Jungkook seemingly never worked on his album. He said that he wasn't doing anything, that he had no plans, told people to not wait for him. I'm sure you know everything. It's not like they suddenly decided to give him a song and then a full english album, no. They've been planning this for a while, and he probably knew about the plans and that's why he wasn't really working on anything.

Maybe you're new to the fandom, but one of the years BTS went to the Grammys, I think it was 2020, a CEO went with them and he placed himself in every photo next to them. In one photo, he even moved Jungkook out of the center so he could be the center of the photo in the freaking red carpet.

That same man, along with BangPd would give interview after interview talking about how they know how to create the next BTS, because they allegedly have some kind of formula. Formula was the word they always used. Armys always got so mad about those statements, saying BTS can't be imitated and that BTS is what it is because of the members and not because of the company. Most armys who remember that, who read those interviews aren't in the fandom anymore. The people in the fandom now don't know, and don't care.

This whole thing, for more than a year, has reeked of the same ideology.

You know that they are fame and money hungry, yet don't consider the possibility that they might do everything they can to get exactly that.

2025: weeks 1 + 2

starting the year off as we ended the last one: well behind on every measure!

right off the bat: the wee hours of new year's day. henny and fairy floss and chappell roan playing quietly in the background. a perfect start.

first brunch of the year: my kingdom for a horse (whitemore square, adelaide). it's gonna be the year of the waffle.

unicorn slime: the gift for a seven year old.

eight? hours in a steamy car: the fires in the grampians were forecast to kick off again, so my very brief jaunt to adelaide was over. it was hot. my stomach was angry. there was nothing but errands waiting for me. i think the eight hour drive ended up taking nine and a half.

purchases that will change your life: a new kitchen knife. the dulling of a knife is like slow boiling a frog, or whatever the saying is, but there are few things as satisfying in life as a perfectly halved sandwich.

nicole kidman, save me from the sun: i have been in the market for a rashie since about 2014, but the point is that despite being absolutely paranoid about getting sunburnt, last summer i got roasted in a 3" strip across my back and i have conceded defeat by my shoulders' inability to reach that far. anyway, there is a rashie version of nicole kidman's swimmers, and now i own it and it's great.

not that i needed it: first beach of the year was hot and entirely cloudy, which is perfect beach weather as far as i'm concerned. melbourne beaches can barely be called such a thing, but they are great for floating in the water while you have a gasbag with your pals before stuffing your faces with fish and chips.

songs i shazamed (mostly) in the car: this is an annual tradition at this point, but it's literally the reason i bought an apple watch a few years ago and i haven't shared it in a few years.

oh yeah, also tv: squid game (season 1, netflix). the next item will explain why, but i did finally watch the first season a couple of days after the second season dropped. surprised by how uninteresting i found it, which maybe tells on me more than on itself.

the blood is a metaphor: maccas was running an australian-only grown up happy meal to promo squid game season 2, which included a dalgona candy that got you a ticket in the draw for either a tracksuit or $10,000. there were four shapes, and only the golden arches were for the cash. after a couple of other shapes, one of which i got out successfully, i finally got a big M in my tin. and i was prepared. i had watched s1 now. i knew what to do: i was going to lick that sucker free. within five minutes and nowhere near to releasing the shape, my tongue was bleeding. did i stop? no. did i get the shape free? yes, but it broke. i carefully shoved the pieces back together so i could trick the scanned. it worked! "congrats, enter your details below." below: this competition is now over. motherfucker.

get that one in ya: is what i would have named the place, but fluffy torpedo is also a name for a weird flavour ice cream joint. buttermilk pancakes and maple syrup flavour was exactly as described, buttered baguette was... something else, though i couldn't say what.

also, uh: let (2024, dir. alyssa loh) sonoya mizuno in the short film version of that slightly off-putting bdsm fic that exists for every single ship.

cinema!: the brutalist (2024, dir. brady corbet). every year i manage to see the best movie of the past year right out the door of the new year. the length is daunting, but the intermission entirely mitigates it. i reviewed it on letterboxd like a wanker.

sportsball, as always: i hustled my ass out of the 3.5 hour movie to get down to some ill-planned impulse purchased tickets to day one of the ao to see my girl sabalenka have a stressful one. as circumstances have eventuated, i'm now very glad i went when i did.

I wanted to share the Google sheets I made earlier that shared and I got messages from people that wanted it as well so they could add their own new years resolution list in it! I added more elements to it than the original so it wasn't just plain basic!

I have made a lot of spreadsheets in the past for myself but I think as one person messaged me saying, I should "release them to the wild", especially the trackers I make for myself!

I really enjoyed making this, got to play around the formulas and learnt some new ones as well! And I got to design the promo pictures because for the dramatics~! (it looks super professional, shoutout to the pins that I saved to my board 2 years ago, finally have some use~!). The mini designer in me is pleased!

Happy FACE era and happy Jikook days to all!

I promise I'll write a few in depth reflections on the latest Jikook interactions and also will address 편지 in another post but I just wanted to get a few things off my chest so I wanted to post this first. (Sorry, this post will mostly include my reflections and no profound analysis so if you're not interested in my ramblings, you can skip this one)

I guess I'll start off by this: I did make the conscious decision to lay off the petiness a few months ago though I can't help but think these few days (even weeks) happened for the sake of all the hateful trolls who have been making rounds even on here revelling in the fact both Jimin and Jungkook were mostly off-grid and Kook spotted having a social life, which somehow automatically discounted any possibility of him keeping in touch with/seeing anyone else for some reason.... but anyways... for the sake of keeping my karma clean let's move on.

Being an ARMY with a special fondness for 3J and Jikook I have to say my life is pretty easy, I just lay back and enjoy as their appearances happen and let things unfold without having to get angry or hateful. Mostly because my love for them doesn't hinge upon a never-ending need for validation for what has been a constant for the past 10+ years. And I hope by communicating and trying to explain more closely to you how especially Jimin and Jungkook interact, trying to help you bridge the language gap, I really hope you feel this sense of calmness as well. There is never anything to question, to fuss or argue about. (Not to stray too much off topic, but rest assured I deeply value and appreciate each and one of your replies and messages, despite the fact I am notoriously bad at replying to them 🫣)

Watching Jimin and Jungkook interact always feels like home, like you have been granted an insight into a familiar scene, with people that are so close they can't help but joke around or poke at each other yet at the same time can't hold back on their appreciation and softness for each other. (If you need a visual representation just take any moment Jimin talks about/with Jungkook and automatically gets all giggly and soft and Jungkook's last live where you could see the little goofball laughing at ex. the teasing scenes but at the same time couldn't hold back his starry eyed expression 🥹)

I have to admit though, I myself got proven wrong when I confidently posted about how they are both missing ARMY based on the Weverse interactions and then proceeded watching Jungkook turn on a live barely interacting with the comments (even remarking on the fact he isn't checking them yet people keep writing lol) just to watch over 1hr of Jimin content and admit to have been staying on top of all his promo releases...To then read Jimin's reply in which he left no room for debate. 국민 정말 미안해ㅠㅠㅠ

So what have we learned over the past few days?

Jimin and Jungkook are fine, in fact better than fine, and not seeing them in public proves absolutely jack sh*t (reverting back to a bit of my pettiness here)

Jungkook was involved with the album more than we could have ever imagined. (can't wait to talk more about 편지, I have to say not many songs have ever touched me as much as this one, for various reasons...)

Jungkook visited Jimin's rehearsal (and was really interested in watching him record for a music show too 🥺) and was also for that reason so confidently announcing that something "amazing beyond words" was coming before the teaser for Set me free pt. 2 dropped

As expected Jimin's latest schedules are recording/company-home-eat-sleep and repeat so he has barely any time left and Jungkook misses him a lot :(

Jungkook is as supportive and admiring of his hyung as ever- his words not mine (still a huge Serendipity stan though 🤭)

And once again highlighting: their communication feels very warm, friendly and familiar, there is no sign of them not knowing about each other or being distant

Normani’s debut album…

…disgruntled me!

It disgruntled me in that it just felt like a consolatory, unguided and misguided, lost, phantom project. It feels like a project only and not an actual album.

When I tell y’all that I had/have the utmost, genuine confusion with the entire enterprise of it all. Like just legit puzzlement of it all.

I do not understand what happened and why it did.

Heads-up: This post is about to be all over the place. I guess it’s unstructured the same way the album made me feel. a bunch of typos and grammar errors, bad structure too and jumping all over. And I tried to wait way after the release so it wouldn’t look like I was too harsh as soon as she gifted us with it. Why I waited this long to say anything.

I love her vocals on Distance, Insomnia, Take My Time and All Yours. The background vocals! She’s a layering girl! She’s mastering this and I like that. That is the highlight for me. The maturity in her voice sounds amazing! The age in her tone…we really have grown up with her and it just feels like a warm, kindred hug(the best way I can describe it). I appreciate the 90s nostalgia especially as a 90s kid! Her having B-Rocka’s bgv on Insomnia is perfection!

I’m glad she can now check this off her list tho! I know she’s happy! Like a huge sigh of accomplished relief!

The bluntness…………

What I think was not the best approach was She applied the rap formula onto her debut and that didn’t blend.

I think the rap girls have more of that liberty to come out in their debut as explicit as they want. The genre has sort of redirected in that direction so the ladies are able to settle into that aesthetic.

But with pop/rnb I’m not too sure that works so well. Or how well that formula works in longevity. In Normani’s case, how well that works for her introduction.

The raunchy, vulgar and very hyper-sexual persona (lyric wise and visually —album cover included) to me doesn’t reflect her. It honestly seems super foreign to her. Now, I’m not a prude or too prude to the point of where I can’t appreciate sexiness and sultriness or nastiness...but this just doesn’t seem it. Doesn’t seem it for her.

I’m not one to not be able to grow along with artists. Normani is 26. She’s developed into her womanhood from teen star in a group to an adult multifaceted star as a solo artist. So my expectations weren’t based on the Normani of those years ago. But I do feel like the drastic and almost instant sexualized image/content has been kinda jarring.

Usually, when an artists comes out in their debut/premiere era, they present more of the green, novice demeanor. “Black girl next door” appeal. Whitney, Janet, Beyoncé and so on.

Later on and into their years of being in the industry with their debut behind them and a couple more albums in is when we get the grownup type of albums. 2 to 3 albums post the debut is when that usually happens.

But I do feel Normani absolutely didn’t want this. She isn’t debuting as a young teen and she’s had a very challenging musical journey as part of a group. So I can’t really compare and probably shouldn’t. On that group experience alone, I’m sure she had the mindset to take full control of her sound and image from jump because she didn’t have much say-so then. Which probably is the reason she introduced herself as she presented. I can understand that.

And I can’t speak for all of The Nation but for me, all this threw me off. I was able to look beyond the album cover (and not that her album cover was a total dealbreaker for me but it did give me a preview of what I could possibly expect. I mean album covers do play a part in promo and selling the brand of an artists’ album) and get excited for the music.

It’s listed as pop but has more rnb.

Wild Side made the cut so I’m a little surprised Motivation didn’t. Wild isn’t exactly current so Motivation definitely could’ve been included. Especially considering how well that song did in real-time! It had a good shelf life at the time.

If I remember correctly, in 2019 she said the album would drop in 2020. Given the state of 2019 and the following year, it’s totally reasonable and understandable that that wasn’t doable anymore. But prior to that, a 2018 interview it seemed like 2019 was the initial debut release year. The Waves era. And if the beginning (which she said) or middle of 2019 the album was released actually would’ve predated the pandemic. She said the album title has a # in it and the album cover. 2018, there was even promise of a bounce song with Big Freedia. Probably around this time too is when I recall her saying that the album was 70% done. So yeah all the reworks and pushbacks and restarts, to me, completely disengaged her and just knocked her off her square.

Nothing really translated for me. Nothing seemed very connective lyrically. Majority of the songs are super catchy but there’s just no anchor to them. It sorta feels like Normani’s pushbacks and re-delays and restarting and false starts to beginning at ground zero totally disconnected her from the sound palate she had in mind to do.

The album feels so detached from her.

The lyrics for most of the songs seem more like a vibe rather than sinking into her feelings. Not very meaningful.

There’s just a lyrical emptiness behind it. I guess that is what her desire is. And pop music doesn’t necessarily have to have much emotive substance.

I do want to point out and say that the group trauma for sure influenced or did influence her to steer clear of pop—which imo happens to be her strong sound.

It’s a good album. And majority of her biggest supporters enjoy it. The numbers (although we can’t entirely go by numbers alone to a certain degree) prove it is a good debut. And I hope she isn’t chart obesssive to even base those numbers on what she created.

However, the charts also factor in what she’ll be able to do in her sophomore era. Charts have its importance to a certain degree and numbers do determine a lot. So you can’t totally discredit it. It helps to show what her supporters liked (or didn’t really enjoy) and what backing may or may not be available next round.

Pop seems so much better suited for her. Idk why but that’s her strong palette. I’m just one of a few who is probably leaning more to wanting pop from her and she clearly doesn’t.

And I know the journey leading up to the album wasn’t pleasant, hasn’t been and hasn’t been the easiest and tbh, it seems like all that group trauma just won’t shake off her shoulders (the Terrell interview spoke to that—she was literally speaking negatively about some tracks), her mother’s on-going health issues and following, her father’s health issues and all that impacted her process. It was supposed to be pleasant and enjoyable for her and it just seems like it wasn’t at all.

Y’all keep streaming it and buy it!

Wish all the activeness she had when she didn’t have her official album out like the tour with Arianna and the tv performances etc was done now (at the time of her release). The cameos on other artists music videos.

Not sure why the “working backwards” type of method is the route she and her team takes. New team is definitely felt in the best way already, however, there’s still something there that continues to do what they did years ago with her rollout process.

The 1:59 official music video most definitely should’ve been released a week or so right before the album release. In tandem with the release.

Like why isn’t the rollout in junction with the release? The music videos are absent. Again, the simultaneity is off. Debut the album and release the videos!

Not capitalizing off of Wild Side a year or two ago to release the album around that time or not maximizing the chokehold Motivation had and maybe dropping an EP then to keep the momentum going and keeping the public’s interests bewilders me.

I’m bewildered right now still.

The album just quietly came and loudly went with nothing in between.

I don’t want this for Normani and she absolutely has it all that this shouldn’t have happened as it did.

I’m kinda shame to say that I’ve listened to the album only twice since it came out. I know I’m not fulfilling my Nation duties by doing that but it just didn’t…it doesn’t quite have the replay value to me to want to listen to it several times. To just play it. I don’t think I had too high expectations—it was set in very realistic terms. Especially considering how talented sis is! I feel like all the wide-eyed innocence of being a new artists creating a debut just dissipated overtime and it’s so unfortunate and unfair for her.

I just…SIGH. I’m so disappointed with it and I know I wasn’t supposed to be! I feel bad even criticizing it (I straight up criticized it, no critiquing whatsoever). I’m even ending on a low note about it.

Two hundred horses growl in Jim’s ears, protesting against the two large boulders he’s using to both urge them on and restrain them. He stands still in the darkness, listening to them fight each other, fight the chunks of granite. They’re all too eager to throw themselves into that sturdy acer macrophyllum just sixteen feet ahead, glowing in the headlights.

Jim can relate to that need for movement, for action. It’s why he chose to do this himself. It’s why he just took the jet all the way here. He needs….

He isn’t sure what, exactly, has kept him from releasing the car to its destruction.This road won’t be deserted for long: he should’ve removed the rock from the brake pedal ten minutes ago, gone on to bash out what remained of the windshield and spatter the interior in some of Angus’s bagged blood from Phoenix Medical. Cordoned the whole thing off so they’d have realistic evidence of the crash that has left Jim’s son lying half-dead, twenty miles away in Colorado River Medical—

This is why, he wants to scream as his fist bangs into the hood’s dark, warm metal. This is why Jim stays away. Matilda can judge him as much as she wants, because she won’t ever understand. And that’s fine, as long as she does her job, carries out his orders and minds her own business. She doesn’t have to understand him, or his choices.

She probably doesn’t realize just how easily he can hear her judgment, as well as all the other things she didn’t say during that most recent phone call he’d initiated after too many hours spent tossing and turning. But Jim has always been good at reading between the lines. He didn’t need to witness Dalton’s grief-crazed attack on the Phoenix—the man’s own people….

For a moment, Jim lets himself wonder if there had ever been a time when Jonah might’ve done the same….

Regardless. It had been clear from the very beginning, from the moment Matty had refused to come back and manage the other teams, do her job.

There is a chance…a very high chance….that Angus will leave Jim. Angus will leave him for Ellen….

Ellen.

He doesn’t know what to do with the childish insistence screaming through his head that it’s not fair. This feeling…it’s out of control. He wants to take the precious red Jeep his son loves so much and smash that into scrap as well as this company SUV. After all the years of damages Angus has accrued….

From the very beginning, he was such a destructive kid. Jim had given him the benefit of the doubt when he was seven. Curiosity ran strong in the veins of both sides of the family, and a sealed container of butylithium and nitrogen doesn’t look like much to worry about until it’s too late. That had been on Jim, keeping it in the shed within reach of a precocious little boy who could never keep his hands away from where his mind wanted to go. He still remembers how Ellen had been the exact same way, those inquisitive blue eyes flashing above her mischievous smile, hands always reaching out to touch….

The car had been different. Angus had known exactly what he’d been doing that time.

Still. Jim can’t deny the flash of pride he’d felt, confronting that little perpetrator at the scene of his crime. Nine years old, streaked head-to-toe with dark grease and surrounded by the innards of his victim, Angus had stood tall in their garage, blue eyes remorseful but blond head held high. He hadn’t protested Jim’s charges or his sentence. And watching him tackle it—watching him teach himself how to piece every bit of that engine back together, all on his own….

That had been worth the seven straight weeks of bus fares.

Jim’s pride sours, sticking uncomfortably in his throat. Without further hesitation he circles back around to the drivers’ side of the car, reaches into the footwell and shoves at the granite chunk closest to him—

Ripping his arm out of the way just in time for two hundred horses to charge ahead, roar straight into the solid trunk with an explosion of deafening sound.

There’s no fire. Not that Jim expected one, but with the way things have been going…But that’s one thing that went right, at least. The only light is coming from the tail lights and single headlight that still functions. Passenger’s side.

Jim grabs the designated tree branch—a good size, about half the thickness of his arm and twice as long. Dragging it behind him, he pulls his SAK from his pocket and clicks on its flashlight—pauses.

The place where Angus would’ve sat is a crumpled mess of plastic, aluminum and fiberglass.

Bashing a hole into the windshield has become a non-issue. Jim drops the limb across the jagged edge that remains, halfway into the gaping space and onto what’s left of the driver’s seat. A believable culprit for an impalement….

Without his permission, his brain begins speculating what kind of injuries it’s all covering for. GSW, a stabbing of some kind….

In. Out. There’ll be time to learn about it in all its gory details when he reads the reports stacked on his desk. Another avoidance she knows about, and judges him for.

Which is fine.

As he shines his light over the wreckage once more, Jim lets himself imagine—for the briefest moment—how it would’ve felt to have been behind that wheel. If that had been his foot lifting from the brake, shooting him toward the maple. Would he have been able to leap out, heart pounding with adrenaline, to land in the fallen leaves? Or would he have failed, and turned planted evidence into something all too real….

In. Out.

He bends down and reaches into the little cooler beside him, lifting out the bag of his son’s blood—trying not to notice how heavy it feels, or how it shakes in his hand.

Angus.

I was in a similar situation many years ago when I tried to watch The Sopranos and I couldn't get past the first episode. I found it boring and not as entertaining as Goodfellas or The Godfather. Fast forward, I just finished the series last night and I can finally say that I too have watched one of the greatest series of American television. I can finally understand the jokes and the references. And now, perhaps at my current age and just my mood in general, I could sit down and get immersed into it.

2) All is not ok in Hybe land and I personally have no concern for it. Let them all fight. It's never sunshines and rainbows in the corporate world.

3) Hmm, I have to say that I have had some similar questions about this too. Let's say I can accept that projects finalized before enlistment can be released during military service (I'm not willing to go into another debate on this specifically, I've had enough of it, case closed). But posting on social media about said projects? I find it odd and I'm not sure what the rules are. I haven't heard of any negative consequences for them, so what do I know? I was left with the impression that it's not right, but perhaps they are walking a fine line, open to interpretation. In his latest Weverse post, Jungkook mentioned that since he can't promote himself, he opened an account for Bam. So, what is it then? Is it allowed or not?

4) I knew kukumimi would do this, it's on brand and as much as I want to see them, I think it's better that they are keeping it under the radar. I heard they also just finished this intense training they had and they might get some vacation days. Perhaps they will show their faces. It's never the easy way with them, right?

5) I really enjoyed that glimpse into their evening, even if it was in front of the camera. It still felt nice and very lowkey, particularly after a concert. You wouldn't think they were jumping on a stage for two hours before that.

I think we're all jealous of Jungkook and so be it. He said so himself, we will keep being jealous, he'll still hold Jiminie (and cook for him).
