hmm mixed feelings on the ripley show its nice to see such a distinctive take on the books im a bit of a hater about the movie it almost consciously veers away from every change i disliked in the movie but im also not really sure why its going for such a close adaptation when with the age change of the characters it really begins to strain credulity like the plot and the cinematography have the same sorta thing going on where its like certain places it just clicks into place so effortlessly and works so nicely and other times its like ur sitting there awkwardly dealing with the choices of shooting it in black and white and casting 40somethings where like the outdoor daylight scenes look sooo washed out and shitty ive been watching a lot of film noir recently and so i think im feeling extra critical of it cuz sometimes it really does manage to nail the beautiful depths of shadow film does so effortlessly but unfortunately it also feels like the choice is almost entirely at odds with you know the italian sunshine and they have not really managed to shoot outdoors and not end up with just muddy grey which again weird problem when they knew that would be a main setting all the night shots all the indoor shots are stunning but the jarring effect from indoors to outdoors is baffling... feels very similar to like ok they know and love this story and are doing an interesting job sketching it out so meticulously but u keep getting hit with like toms sketchy background becomes so much more sketchy if hes in his 40s still living like that who would trust him with this to begin with why would dickies parents still have hope hes gonna come back and run the family business if hes 40 and has never held a job few changes have been made to like square the age change with again a striking fidelity to the source material it honestly sometimes seems like theyre simply hoping u dont notice??? like dickies mom pulling out photos of him and it ends with him in college like are they pretending hes in his 20s we both know this is not true and otherwise its like not really given the gravity of like having barely seen her son in 15+ years you know its just mystifying the lifestyle and concerns of a wealthy loafer in his 40s would be different than a traveling 20something with no cares in the world idk like u can sort of ignore it for a bit but it just keeps like creating this odd level of separation for me where i simply cannot fully believe what im seeing on screen also dakota fanning literally looks like she knows what instagram is shes not giving us 1960s in the least

PB OMGGGG?!?!?! i’ve been so obsessed with tto lately and oh my gosh the most recent chapter was AMAZING!! i’m so excited to see where the story goes from here!

there’s one thing i cannot for the life of me shake out of my head whenever i read it: how deku and katsuki treat y/n,,, sort of like a /daughter/. ik it’s a bit strange and i could definitely be reading into things differently because of past experiences but omg especially in chapter 14 with katsuki’s whole “family meeting” and whenever deku says something like “sweetie” i just keep thinking “wow they’re like like y/n’s dads!” …except the two of them have a relationship and sex with her LOL. it’s so strange but so fascinating their dynamic.! i just can’t shake the thought of maybe deku n katsuki taking her in to help their relationship in the same way some couples think having a child will save their relationship :/

also in a previous chapter where deku picked y/n up after she went drinking and he told her to keep track of how many drinks she has reminded me of how maybe a parent would want to raise their child to be different from themselves/another parent (katsuki in this case because of his drinking problemo). it was giving very much father-figure attitude.

and just the way y/n’s person is sort of like an afterthought to them (especially in chapter 14), sort of like a baby to a parent; as in, like, the baby is just an extension of the parents and it’s the parents deciding every aspect of the baby’s life. except with babies, it makes sense lol because they’re literally babies. but y/n is an adult which makes the dynamic a bit unhealthy.

We’ve seen in this most recent chapter that, while Izuku is more vocal, Katsuki is not innocent either. How much puppeteering is being done behind the scenes?

I think a few readers have wondered Izuku and Katsuki’s motivations for not wanting (Y/n) to drink, and Izuku getting upset with her when she didn’t know how much she drank. Comparing Chapter 14 to Chapter 13, (Y/n) drinks alcohol with them at dinner, and there is no problem, Izuku even jokingly “allows” her to, so why is it such a problem if she drinks when she’s out with her friends?

The issue is about control.

There are a lot of issues about control in this relationship. Keep your eyes open for some other examples.

And yes! Izuku didn’t apologize! What do you think that could mean? Apologies often symbolize remorse. Hmm.

firstly. emotionally it wrecked me and i am considering buying it on dvd so i do sort of think it might be the best show ever made. however my official view is - very good at dread and suspense, character writing was up and down and papered over by good acting

pros:

- goodsir, crozier & franklin standout characters in terms of writing

- ships are cool

cons:

- silna silna silna i think nive nielsen is an incredible actor who gave silna a huge amount of depth in part because of the fact that there really was very little there otherwise. the fact that she loses her tongue early on is pretty unfortunate in that regard but even so i think she was mostly relegated to magical indigenous woman/goodsir character development. and given that she was obviously the main netsilik character we actually get to talk with that was a major disappointment for me

- tbh not to be that guy but i do think the story would’ve been better without tunbaaq. like i get it in the sense that it is just fun to imagine a supernatural element to the franklin expedition, but it’s a good enough story without that and i kiiiind of think it did cheapen the otherwise pretty solid themes of civilisation, empire, and dignity in the face of suffering etc. i don’t see what “and there’s a weird bear” adds to this. but maybe im just being a hater here.

- pretty torn on hickey in the sense that. idk. i generally do like when antagonists are left ambiguous but i think…hmmm it just didn’t land for me i LOVED when he was being a funny little scamp but murdering farr felt like it came somewhat out of the blue mostly because he was so intense about it. hmm. idk. maybe i should put hickey in a middle ambivalent section because i’m so undecided but yeah. hmm.

- i think fitzjames was a pretty missed opportunity character wise frankly. the show positions him as stepping into secondary protagonist role after franklin dies but he’s then mostly static throughout eps 4 & 5, there’s some interesting stuff in 6, but most of his real character moments come in 8 which is obviously only right before he dies in 9 anyway. up to ep 3 he’s got a good thing going as franklin’s yes-man with better social skills but from there i just don’t think the show spends enough time with him on his own to really do much with him. similar to silna i think tobias menzies is a good enough actor to cover this and it’s more a problem with a big ensemble cast than anything but we got more depth for franklin three episodes than we did for fitzjames in 9 which i think was disappointing. mostly because what we do get would have been a pretty good vector for the broader themes of victorian sensibilities breaking down in the arctic for better or worse

Soo my main reason for B.aizhu being at the top is mainly because I just love him that much. I don't really see him being a very gassy man, but when he burps, it always has a level of bass to it that he can feel rumbling in his chest. I can also totally see him using his burps to tease his s/o if he knows they like it, but he'd do it in the most polite way possible if that makes sense? Gonna have to make a tiny drabble about that idk hehehehehehe. He's purely there for personal preferences lol

I.tto actually shares first place with B.aizhu! It's because not only is he one of my top favorites, he actually is probably the best burper out of everyone on the list. Want to hear him belch out the alphabet? Done. Want to see him rattle the table from how loud he can get? Easy peasy! On top of all of that, he is absolutely shameless and cocky (which are traits I adore). He really has it going for me to say the least.

As for N.euvillette, I put him in third (technically 2nd) because he has the potential to be an even better belcher. It's just that his personality keeps him from achieving that. He's a very refined dragon, but that doesn't mean he can't burp. His main diet canonically consists of water, so he's bound to have these wet, bubbly, and guttural burps that really sound out and can make heads turn. The thing is, aside from knowing how to repress them, he doesn't really have much control over them, so he falls short on the talent end.

I put W.rio a tier below N.euvi, mainly out of personal preference, and because I think he would have these sort of lazy burps that last for a craaaaazy amount of time. I kind of want him to be more shameless tbh, cause he will definitely try to hold back around people he knows. Strangers, not so much. If he didn't hold back, he would definitely have much louder, more thunderous belches that would echo in his office. I think he would also try to practice learning how to burp on command if he had the time.

Z.hongli is another character that is up there for personal preferences. I think he has the same range as N.euvi when it comes to burping. The thing is, while N.euvi holds back to keep his reputation, Z.hongli holds back because he wants to be polite. However, if he finds out someone he dislikes is annoyed by his eructations, he'll casually let loose some airy burps into his fist just to fuck with them, all while playing dumb and saying he's an old man with heartburn lol. Idk ig since Z.hongli has the choice to care about his manners or not, and N.euvi has no choice but to be mindful. It hits differently?

Last but not least, we have K.aveh! I put him in last place on the top tier because, honestly, I feel like this guy has some top-tier burps. The thing is, he doesn't eat as often as he should, so he can't produce them as deep and grand as I'd like him to. He does burp pretty often since he's probably stressed all the time, and all that tension just puts pressure on his stomach. Plus, he is prone to hunger burps. However, these ones are short, quiet, and sound more like a hiccup than anything else.

The problem is, I would prefer someone to burp because they're relaxed, full, or even feeling mischievous. In fact, I was debating on putting G.aming in his place instead, and writing this out is making me think that again. Hmm...

-xela!! bro is Not Doing Okay™️ but is slightly better than before. i think he still is like on a more metaphorical adrenaline high from the shit with viling so he hasn’t really realized the reality of his situation yet, but overall I think things are gonna be okay right now. he’s becoming friends with unjust again which is nice, and once he makes a shitty deal with the devil he’ll get to see justs again and boom romance arc!! wait right this is abt the angst. uh. really right now it’s just the fear of what viling is gonna do next. idk what else to say. 4/10 on the self-hatred scale as well, he’s kinda realizing that justs death and stuff isn’t really his fault, it’s viling’s

-justs has yet to realize “oh wait. xela probably can and will come back??” either way he’s fucking terrified of viling but also really mad at her,, but then again, once xela comes back ya get the romance arc!! so I think justs and xela are both not very very angsty as much. 3/10 on the self-hatred scale, mainly feels bad abt sort of being the first to die and feels like it’s the reason shit keeps happening

hi hello i have not actually forgotten about this! sorry i left it almost two weeks! i've never done this game before, and title-then-plot is the opposite of my usual creative process, so i found it surprisingly hard. so... unfortunately i still only sort of have an answer. prepare for a lot of maybes and vagueness and vibes.

here's what i originally started writing (which is okay analysis, but sits strictly within canon, and on its own would only produce maybe 400 words of character study, which even by my standards is not quite "a fic"):

okay i had to chew on this one a little because i have so many favourite characters with guilt complexes... but i think this one works best for loki. i feel like the core idea for loki re: this phrase is like... how guilt makes him worse. how seeing himself as a monster is a self-fulfilling prophecy. how he tries to "atone" for violence with even worse violence because his moral compass is just absolutely fucked. this is all especially relevant to thor 1. but also, beyond all this, it's fun to explore how the guilt begins with things he shouldn't feel guilty for at all. like, he feels guilty for having emotions and for being born. he interprets everything about himself through the lens of "weak" or "coward" or "failure" or "monster", even when you could never reasonably expect anything else.

and the vague direction i was going with that was like... loki's fraught relationship with his body. how he does literally hate the blood in his veins.

i know it's incredibly literal, but like... IF you put that man in a situation - say, a curse - that meant he was suddenly, unexpectedly, both badly injured and jotun-looking... i think panic/self-loathing/disgust over looking jotun would win out over his already weak survival instinct, and he would have a visceral, *violent* DO NOT TOUCH ME reaction to anyone trying to help him. which would not be helped by the jotun frost-touch thing, which i maintain is not permanent... but which loki definitely doesn't know how to turn off. (but once he realises *that's* happening he might actually use it to try and drive people (okay, thor) away and prove his ~monsterhood~... and he might miscalculate and do more severe damage than he intended to.)

however... it is bothering me quite a lot, given the prompt, that i can't work out how to fit the guilt-for-not-being-worse thing in here. we have internalised space racism, and we have regular guilt for hurting people you care about, but where is the rancid ideology... where is the deliberate harm to others... where is the *coldness*...

but maybe that's a problem to work out if and only if i actually decided to write the damn thing. maybe it would solve itself if i found some context to put it in. idk. hmm.

Some gold he managed to pickpocket from some rich people, matching bracelet with Valen that he broke and still hasn't fixed (he says he keeps it there as a reminder to do so), and a bunch of pocket sand in his back pocket that he'd probably throw at Andros or smth JFDSKLF. He talks to Julian too much :/

How quick is your character to trust someone else?

An average amount of time? He doesn't have trust issues, really, but he's not giving it out to just anyone. He takes his time getting to know people and seeing if there's any connection before deeming them trustworthy. But he doesn't have to like someone for him to trust them (ex. he doesn't like Kaidan all that much but he trusts him to keep Valen safe).

If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?

He's usually more of a "shit happens" kinda guy so neither, I guess. He does have his moments of pondering if he deserved being condemned from his homeland and everything beyond that. But he knows logically that he doesn't, he's a good man.

Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.

Hmm. I can't think of specific scenarios but I can list some things that make him uncomfortable ig? fjdskl. He's not a fan of confrontation, especially if it gets heated. He also has a hard time admitting when he's wrong and has made a mistake but isn't above it.

Hakon:

Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?

Yeah, definitely. Hakon grew up fairly poor with little access to a proper education, and he was often doing any labor job he could get his hands on to help ends meet. But now as the vestige and a very well renowned mercenary, he has quite the income and is incredibly well-off financially.

In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?

Being kidnapped by the Worm Cult and having his soul stolen by Mannimarco 😭. Someone being able to knock out and lug his giant ass around to do that ritual is unsettling as is but then waking up totally helpless while some emo mf (who happens to be your bestie's idol) rips your soul out of your body before sending you to Coldharbor to get tortured for who knows long would be terrifying to most.

What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?

He has SO many issues, oh my god. But he haaaaaates being doted on/taken care of or anything of the sort. He can't stand it. It makes him feel weak and useless which can definitely seem ridiculous and maybe it is, but he's spent much of his life having the fact that he needs to be a provider and caregiver and that he can't be weak drilled into his mind. So it can be a struggle to maintain balance with him in that regard. Idk if it's destroyed any relationships but it definitely causes problems. He gets better as time goes on.

What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?

He didn't have many toys but he was fond of a teddy bear his mother got for him. Definitely went with him everywhere when he was little and he probably named it something simple like fluffy. It's long gone by now though.

General Appearance: She definitely takes a bit more after mom in that department- though for sure bits of Tim shine through. These are old old concept images so I don't think she'd have Full Heterochromia but instead it would be a different type - since there are different forms/can take on different appearance you know.

Personality: Much like her parents she's very kind and helpful. A free spirit who's just itching to explore. Has a keen artistic eye (and ear) Smart if a bit distracted at times. Perhaps a little headstrong and will 100% fight/push back. Is also a bit of 'Weird Kid' likes to goof around make up her own games, prefers finding her own way to do things no matter how unorthodox it may be.

Special Talents: Does magic count. Not quite as strong or talented with it as her folks but she is able to do some. Is very crafty enjoying all sorts of art - really enjoying Sewing and Crochet. Perhaps a bit of a writer. But also pretty good with sports too.

Who they like better: I'd say it's probably an equal share of love- might all depend on the activity really. Could see her being a little bit of a Daddy's Girl but over all not a strong preference.

Who they take after more: Hard to say. Again it depends physically in many ways possibly takes after Isa/her side of the family a little more so then Tim. With the exception of any dragony traits she may have acquired from him. Personality wise Tim likes to joke how she takes after Alec at times (which obviously literally speaking isn't possible but Tim does find himself often seeing his lil bro in her or he thinks so at least)

Personal Head canon: I feel like she was definitely an unexpected child.

If in a World with Isa's other two kids then perhaps a surprise twin with their daughter? Or general unplanned 3rd child (Sometimes things happen even with protection you know). In a world with her as the only child while not entirely unplanned still quite unexpected with their being an uncertainty if he could even have kids give his well situation.

Whatever the situation is for her birth she's still none the less loved and cared for regardless

But fan gushing aside I could use some help.

Was think about doing a doctor strange assassin creed cross over with Strange/Desmond, or Desmond/Kiasillas. It’s the usual Desmond ends up in the Mcu threw eye/grey/dimensional travel. And ended up in the care of kamra taj.

And I’ve got the basic idea of what I want down, you know the mix of isue technology and messing with the grey was just very advanced sorcery in the mcu and vis verse.

So glowly tattooed wizard Desmond? Absolutely.

But I’m struggling plot wise I don’t want Desmond to just come in and fix everything but I also don’t want it to just be canon but with Desmond, how do you keep from falling into these pit falls? any advice? Thank you for the time you take to write all your amazing work it’s truly help me threw some tough stops in my life and your an inspiration to get me writing again. 😊

Hmm... I usually A, make Desmond a little bit dumb, which tones down his OPness if he ends up with Isu (or other magical) powers, and B, make him uninformed of his new setting, so he has stuff to learn from the people of the setting.

Honestly, in your situation, I would make Desmond a student of Kamar Taj or something like that, with no idea what he's doing at first, and if he has power, maybe he'd be unable to control it at first. Depending on which time your setting is, he could be a fellow student of Strange's, and act as sort of foil to Strange's issues or something like that.

Also good way to keep Interloper to preset Canon, like Desmond in this situation, from either taking his new setting over or just rehashing it anew, is to make them a bit of a problem. Desmond can't immediately fix everything if he's causing whole new issues just by being there, and it won't turn into just rehashed canon with new character if there's a whole new plot element caused by him. It doesn't have to be a big problem or a huge world changing issue, just something that adds new stuff, you know?

I try to balance out Desmond's, erm, Desmondness with other characters, too. Like, even if he's the main character or whatever, the other characters should have their own stuff going on. Best way to keep OP character from being too gratingly OP is to just not give him the center stage all the time. Desmond might be OP, but maybe he can't do anything about Strange's personal issues or chronic pain or his studies, and maybe those things need to be aired out sometime. Stuff like that.

Key to good crossover, in my opinion, is balance. Idk if any of this helps at all, but yeah.

Rewatching Transformers G1 S2: Episode 1: Autobot Spike

Yes, this is where the Surprised Ratchet meme image comes from:

This episode has a lot going on including near-death of a human character on screen, body horror/a Frankenstein plot, and some genuinely unsettling scenes mostly made creepy due to the combination of some interesting dialogue/voice acting and typical G1 Quality. 

And Spike shoots Starscream in the ass mid-flight, which is fantastic. 

He also shoots his dad, which is less fantastic. 

Being a horror nerd, I love this episode, so here we go!

Alright, so it opens with Sparkplug trying to create “Autobot X”, which is straight up just a Frankenstein’s Monster of autobot parts. It’s weirdly creepy, and vaguely reminiscent of the infamous Ratchet-Megatron fusion in the Marvel comics.

I want to point out that Sparkplug says “I wanna see what I can do with a lotta spare Autobot parts and some human ingenuity” before the reveal shot above, and that’s horrific if you think about it for more than like, three seconds. 

It also may have been the origins of the MECH plot line in TFP, actually! Very similar body horror type thing going on. Anyway.

It works briefly, but it flips out and has to get shut down. 

Ironhide fires a laser, problem solved, nobody’s worried. They put Autobot X in storage, because surely a rampantly aggressive seemingly sentient pastiche of random Autobot parts is nothing to worry about. It’s fine. 

Wheeljack is like, hell yeah, I’ll help you work on it later. Which is when we get the Surprised Ratchet image, because yeah, I bet Ratchet’s freaked out a little since this thing is made of SPARE AUTOBOT PARTS. 

Then we’re swept immediately into a fight with Megatron, as many Seekers as you can fit in frame at one time, and Soundwave. 

For whatever reason, Bumblebee shows up driving through a bunch of partially blown up missile/rocket components, with Spike in the driver’s seat. Even Spike is like, dude, why are we here? And Bumblebee is just like, I mean, we couldn’t NOT show up. lmao

Unsurprisingly, Bumblebee gets shot-- In alt-mode, with Spike inside. Uh oh. 

Megatron leaves, because Frank Welker can only voice so many characters at once, and our attention is turned to the carnage. 

Ratchet is like, sure, I can fix Bumblebee right up! Meanwhile, Ironhide is like oh god, oh my god, is this how you hold a human??? Is it dead??? Optimus is gonna be pissed. 

So Optimus rolls up like, listen, take him to the hospital, come on. Ratchet lets him in the back of his ambulance mode, and Prowl goes with him so that he can throw his emergency lights on to give the illusion of a police escort, ensuring the drive is even quicker. 

(I miss the days when Prowl wasn’t a total asshole.) 

It cuts pretty quickly to Spike in an operating theatre; Apparently getting shot by alien space lasers isn’t conducive to human health: 

It cuts again to the attending physician standing at Spike’s beside, presumably in ICU although they appear to be in a private room, with Sparkplug on the other side of the bed. 

The doctor says “Hmm, if only there were a way of separating Spike’s mind from his body while we work...” Which, uh, what? What surgeon says that? You can sort of already do that in actual human medicine, it’s called an induced coma. 

But sure, we need exposition here, I get it. The screenplay here is tight. Sparkplug says he has an idea...

Back at the Autobot hangout, things seem fairly chill, considering. 

Ratchet is welding Bumblebee’s ass in alt-mode, while Bumblebee complains about how long it’s taking. lol 

Meanwhile, Wheeljack and Sparkplug somehow have Spike hooked up to a Ghostbusters colander helmet, which will hopefully transfer his mind into the malfunctioning/in stasis Autobot X frame. Yikes. 

It works! Spike is now also Autobot X. We will call him Spike X for short. 

And for some reason, Spike saying “D-Da-ad?” with this faceplate expression is incredibly funny to me, while also being really weird and creepy: 

However, this is only cool for like two seconds, at which point Spike X truly starts to lose his shit. 

It gets real creepy here, with Spike X saying in a very oddly flat inflection “Why? Why did you do this to me? Why?” and it’s pretty wild. There’s even a mild strobe effect for a few frames. 

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker try to help calm him down, but Spike X throws them both across the room. 

Optimus is like, oh shit, we made a giant metal teenager. Stop him, but use low power, because if the Autobot X frame is damaged too much, then Spike’s consciousness may not be able to be returned to his actual human body. 

Note that Optimus says this in a pretty relaxed way, then levels a shoulder mounted cannon straight at Spike X, which is incredibly funny. 

It quickly gets deeply weird and creepy again when Spike X is temporarily able to talk with his dad, and states that “it’s hard to think, like something is telling me to do... bad.... things!” Yiiiiiikes. 

He gets it under control again, apologises to his dad for the outburst (I think it’s OK, Spike), and Optimus says that he’s cool to stay at the base and he’ll be taken care of while his human body heals up. 

However, oh shit, the Decepticons have found out that Spike now has an Autobot frame-- And they know he’s unstable. 

Starscream tries to roast him, but Megatron’s like, shut up nerd, we’re gonna make Spike X turn against the Autobots! It’s a good plan, I’m serious! 

Back at the Autobot base, Ratchet is still welding Bumblebee’s ass, and Bumblebee is still complaining. Wheeljack hooks up Spike X with some network television, and he’s watching... Frankenstein. Because the six year old kids who are the intended audience of G1 may not be familiar with the source material for this episode’s plot, I guess, which is fair. (Frank Welker nails it here as Dr. Frankenstein, but that’s unsurprising, because he always nails it. I think he’s also voicing Frankenstein’s Monster, but I haven’t checked the credits.)

Obviously, this isn’t a great thing for Spike X to be watching at this particular moment, so he freaks out again. 

Wheeljack and Sparkplug come running, and somehow Sparkplug is covering ground faster than Wheeljack. It’s fine, don’t worry about it. 

Ratchet’s progress on welding Bumblebee’s ass is interrupted by Spike X breaking through the wall and seemingly flying away. lmao 

They just sort of stand there, like, well, we lost him, I guess. 

Bumblebee is like, alright, gonna go get my boy. 

So he drives out of this massive crater, and Ratchet is like, wait! Your radio transmitter still doesn’t work. (Apparently their radio transmitters are located in their asses. Fascinating.) 

Spike X sits on a cliff and says “what a drag”, which, yeah. Being a Frankenstein space robot would be cool if not for the immense psychological damage this is absolutely causing. 

However, he also calls himself a “walking garbage can” in a completely genuine put-out tone of voice, which absolutely sells that this is a teenager in a giant robot body and I laughed, I won’t lie. 

Some of Megatron’s cronies locate him and hold his position. 

At the same time, Bumblebee shows up and tries to talk Spike X down from a random destructive rampage. 

He throws Bumblebee off the cliff! And Megatron’s squad is rolling up. (Well, flying up, anyway.) Uh oh! 

Spike X is like, hell yeah, bring it. More ass to kick. And it turns out his arm mounted cannon works, because he shoots Starscream directly in the undercarriage and says “YEAH, MAN!” and it’s so genuine. 

This is the perfect reaction to being a teenager in a giant robot body and just suddenly being able to shoot lasers and kick ass. Look at how happy he is, that he just shot Starscream in the butt mid-air. It’s awesome.

Unfortunately, the Seekers do actually beat him up, although Spike X puts up a good fight. 

Megatron then takes advantage of his further weakened state, and swoops in to pitch a classic “Join Us” speech. Spike X calls him “Megacrumb”, which is probably acceptable because he’s absolutely concussed by this point. 

Megatron is willing to overlook this for the sake of teaming up. 

Bumblebee eavesdrops, and drives away-- But Spike X gives Megatron a handshake, and agrees to “make them pay”. Oh shit! 

For some reason, Optimus and Ironhide are back at the rocket facility to watch a launch. Because I guess whatever, this whole situation is chill, let’s go watch rockets? IDK 

But either way, Optimus roasts the inferior quality of human technology, while Bumblebee just drives up on site despite Military Police levelling sniper rifles at him in order to report that Megatron is taking advantage of Spike X’s inability to think clearly. 

Optimus says “I feared something like this might happen”, which, if that were the case, why not take actions to prevent it, maybe? Not the strongest Optimus episode. 

To be fair though, Ironhide transforms and is already driving off before Optimus even gives the order to roll out, so I guess Ironhide either really wants to kick some ass or cares slightly more about Spike X’s wellbeing. He has no dialogue here, so we can only guess. 

They get there, with even more Autobots who showed up at some point in the rapid scene cuts here, and Spike X is super unhinged-- Charging his weapons, he starts speaking in a more strained and angry way, and engages the Autobots! 

He hits Optimus with what appears to be a chest laser? It’s hard to see. But it’s super effective: 

Optimus pleads with Spike X to calm down, but Spike X straight up pulls MEGATRON IN GUN MODE out of his sub-space and shoots Optimus directly in the faceplate. Damn! 

The Seekers and Soundwave drop in, and start rapid firing on all the Autobots present. 

We get some great shots of Megatron in his gun alt-mode as he tries to convince Spike X to keep attacking. Optimus and Bumblebee hide behind cover, attempting to bring Spike X to his senses long enough to disarm him. 

Suddenly, Wheeljack and Sparkplug roll up; Sparkplug attempts to talk some sense into Spike, too. 

Optimus and Bumblebee are at a loss; If they take out Spike X, the damage might take him out for good. 

However, Sparkplug fails in his efforts to talk to Spike X; He SHOOTS HIS DAD AND KNOCKS HIM OFF THE CLIFF. 

Can you imagine if they put an ad break here? lmao 

Luckily, he has like, a claw machine arm, and he catches his dad before he becomes a human smoothie. 

This shocks Spike X badly enough that while he still has Megatron in gun mode, he takes a few pot shots at the Seekers and the Decepticons decide it’s time to bounce, so Megatron bails too. 

He apologises for almost killing his dad, his dad is like hey no beef man, and it cuts to them in the hospital: 

Sparkplug takes his son’s body back to the Autobot base (that sounds worse than it is), and they prepare to transfer him back into his body. 

What’s extra funny here is that he nervously laughs and says “Hope you fixed this thing up good, Ratchet!” And Ratchet says absolutely nothing. Not a word. 

It’s a success! Dad and son hug, totally not even addressing anything that happened this whole episode, because that’s a job for a therapist. 

Ratchet, who continues to not really care about any of this, tells Wheeljack “You know, I could probably repair that mess, but I think it’s best that I don’t.” (This is a play on what Wheeljack said earlier in the episode when he offered to help Sparkplug fix up Autobot X to begin with.) 

I love how tired Wheeljack looks. LOL

Spike, now recovered, leaves us with a great question to close out the episode: “I wonder what it’d be like for a robot mind to be transferred... to a human!” 

Depending on what kind of kid you were, his question was either imagination fuel for fun humanformer ideas, or was a blatantly bad question indicating he learned nothing and providing nightmare fuel trying to imagine one of the Autobots losing their shit in a human body the same way Spike lost his shit while inhabiting Autobot X. 

Anyway, great episode! 10/10 Scary, funny, creepy, Starscream got shot in the ass by a teenager.

Oh thank you!! Hmm I had to think about this one for a second but I'll try to give you some good answers! Though to be fair, I think most of what I listed are things that have already been said aljdhgjladg

I do want to note, I think all of the major characters had room for growth and self-development especially within the first three seasons. We all know that characterization made a huge nose dive after season 4, so I'm not really going to be talking about the later seasons as they aren't super representative of their personalities (however, i will occasionally mention them for certain characters). \

Anyway, onto our beloved characters mental issues and why they should all be in therapy <3

The Winx

Bloom: I think Bloom is actually a very well rounded main character! She has positives and negatives and those don't often conflate with each other (and I think most of her "too perfect" characterization comes from later seasons). Because of that, I had a hard time thinking about what her biggest weakness is because,, she has a few. However, I think something that stays very consistent throughout the series is her escapism. Bloom is a major escapist, especially when she's feeling unworthy. She has a lot on her plate! And a lot of people rely on her, which naturally can lead to some pretty heavy thoughts ("Am I doing the right thing?" "Do I deserve to be the leader?" "What if they're safer without me?"), however those feelings, when they become too much, often leave her feeling like people are truly better off without her. Then she runs off to Gardenia or she shuts people out or she takes on some dangerous mission just to get away from people. Her escapism often leaves everyone, including her, feeling shitty and it would've been nice to see her grow from that.

Stella: Hmmm, so again most of the early characterization gave the characters a couple of weaknesses so I had a hard time thinking of what Stella's biggest one would be. However, something that I've always noticed about Stella that's always made me feel bad, is her extreme I Need To Fit In Or No One Will Love Me attitude. And obviously that goes into her childhood and upbringing, but it's something that stays with her even after meeting the Winx and having all those You're Perfect The Way You Are talks with Bloom. She often changes her personality/attitude/emotions to fit what she thinks other people will like most. But that heavily goes into her insecurities of thinking people only like her because she's pretty or a princess. Stella's a smart girl and she notices how people respond to what she's doing. But when she's changing something about herself to get others to like her and they respond positively to it? That's horrible for her overall self-esteem and to her just confirms her fears that people don't love her for her true self.

Edit: I absolutely don't want to come off as if I'm saying Stella's personality is fake! Here's a further explanation for hers!

Flora: I think some people might disagree with me on this one, but I genuinely believe Flora's biggest weakness is how often she rushes into something. On one hand, it's admirable and shows how strong she is, but on the other hand, it says a lot about how she lets her emotions run her and often doesn't think things through when someone she loves is in danger or she thinks she needs to do something Right Now. Unless someone else prompts it, Flora often doesn't plan or try to think things through rationally. I don't think it's a bad thing to be in tune with your emotions, but it can become a weakness when you only ever think with your heart and what it's feeling at That Moment In Time. Instead of trying to think rationally or make a plan, Flora often just follows her heart immediately, but that can be a bad thing when her heart is hurting and she's not thinking clearly.

Aisha: It's definitely her attitude of needing to appear emotionally strong all the time. Aisha gives more of herself than she receives from others and a lot of that comes from her need to be seen as Reliable and Good. However, that often means she doesn't get the time to sit with how she's feeling or she pushes her emotions down. She doesn't want people to know that she's feeling upset because she doesn't want people to feel bad for her or use their energy to comfort her. Aisha is definitely a "other people have it worse so what happened to me doesn't matter" kind of person and that's often what hurts her the most. She doesn't let herself be vulnerable and often only does so when she truly can't handle it by herself anymore. And I think this heavily goes into her childhood and how she's had to be independent from a very young age. Aisha doesn't know how to let other people in.

Tecna: Hmmm, on one hand I'd like to say it's her internal battle with her logical side vs her emotional side,, so I'm going to. Personally, I think Tecna is a lot better at emotions than she gives herself credit for, and I think that's her biggest weakness. She doesn't give herself any credit when it's something that doesn't come naturally to her. Tecna had to work on being more emotive and reading other people's emotions correctly and by S2 she's already doing so much better than she was, but she refuses to recognize that. Tecna is so stuck in the "what if i'm too logical/not emotional enough and my friends hate me because of it" headspace that she doesn't even see the progess she has made. Honestly, Tecna being too logical/not emotional enough hasn't been a real issue for years and she doesn't even realize that. It's a little ironic actually, she's so caught up in her emotions about being too logical she can't see how far she's come.

Musa: Her trust issues. Personally, I think Musa's biggest weakness is her problem with trusting people. Because she just.. doesn't. Musa has a really hard time letting people in (for rightful reasons) but she once she does let them in, she has a hard time trusting them too. This is most obvious with her relationship with Riven, but it also comes out with the Winx! She's constantly scared that people are going to leave her or that they don't really like her or that they do like her but she's going to end up driving them away and all of that negatively impacts her relationship with others. She just,, doesn't trust people and has an even harder time trusting herself. I think if Musa had been allowed to truly work through that, she would be much happier.

The Specialists

Sky: I think Sky's biggest weakness is pretty obvious! It's that he does not know how to interact with people. I think I'm one of the few people that doesn't actually hate Sky. I hate that, just like the other characters, he had room for improvement and self-realization, which got scrapped almost instantly for Perfect Prince Sky. Sky, like most of the other royal characters, grew up pretty lonely (and his parents are abslute shit). The only other people he would ever talk to are members of his family, other royals, or people who weren't royal but were close enough to it (ie Brandon and even Diaspro depending on which canon you go by). Because of this, Sky has a really hard time interacting with people in a casual setting. He's great in royal settings and all their missions, but that's because he's allowed to and supposed to act all serious and Business Like. When it comes to talking to people in casual settings, he often fails because he doesn't understand "normal" people and he's never been allowed to just,, sort through his own feelings. It would've been amazing to Sky grow from this, because even in the first season you see hints of Sky rejecting royalty and wanting to be normal. MAN I wish Sky got proper characterization, he would've been so much better if he did.

Brandon: Oh man,, I had a really hard time with this one, because Brandon honestly doesn't have a lot of weaknesses? I think something that could be considered a weakness is that,, he's very devoted once he decides he cares about someone. Which isn't bad! But it often puts him in dangerous situations because he wants to save someone. Like anytime Sky gets into trouble, Brandon is for sure right by his side. Or if someone messes with Stella? Brandon's there. And again, this definitely isn't a Bad Thing, but it can put his own life in danger. And in their line of work it often does. However, I do think this is mostly evened out because of Brandon's ability to call for help and think of a plan. He doesn't often just jump into things unless it's absolutely necessary. He's able to think things through clearly and strategize. Sorry anon but I honestly can't think of any Big Weakness for Brandon, because most of his weaknesses are evened out by some positive. (Like, I was going to say he's a bit of a pushover but,, is he? Then I thought well maybe it's because he's ready to die for Sky,, but like. That's his job? Idk man,, any Brandon stans wanna chime in please?)

Timmy: Hmmm I, once again, had some troubles with this one. Timmy has a few weaknesses, mostly in the insecurity region, but I had a hard time figuring out what his Biggest Weakness is. After some thought, I think it's his eagerness to prove himself, specifically when he doesn't need to. I think this definitely evened out in the later seasons once he got some confidence, but in the early seasons Timmy really wanted to prove himself. He wanted to prove that he was a good specialist, a good friend, a good partner,, just,, everything. He was really set out to prove that he was capable of things. This often put him in dangerous situations that he couldn't handle or something he could handle but was too nervous to. It didn't help that in early seasons some of the other characters doubted his abilities (cough tecna cough). But again, I think this really evened out by S4 and it's not a big problem anymore.

Riven: Ugh goodness where to start.. I think Riven's biggest weakness is actually a mix of Musa's and Timmy's. Riven has a hard time trusting people, especially himself, and he's constantly trying to prove himself. He wants to be seen as reliable and Good and that's where a lot of his competition with other characters, mostly Sky, comes in. But that heavily mixes with his distrust and hatred toward himself. I think most of his Trying To Prove Himself is actually him trying to prove something to himself. He's constantly looking down on himself and that need to prove and be better than other people is a product of that. And I think that's also why he has problems with letting people in. Obviously, he has some general trust issues, with wondering if people just don't like him and what not, but a lot of it is not trusting himself and not letting people get close to him because of that. Riven's biggest weakness is that he doesn't give himself any credit for the progress he's made and is constantly doubting whether or not he's a good person. And that messes with his relationships a lot because he thinks he's not good enough to be around people and that sparks his need to to prove himself. And even when his friends do try to comfort him or say he's enough, he doubts that too. Riven has a lot of problems but most of them go into how much he hates himself.

Helia: Well, as one of the resident Helia stans, I've thought about this a lot. And I've got to say, his biggest weakness is his complete inability to talk about himself. A lot of people think Helia is really good at talking about emotions, but that's only partially true. He's good at talking about other people's emotions. When it comes to himself,,, he's a mess. Helia is consistently really bad at sharing his feelings and even just general tidbits about his life (evidenced by all the times he does/says something and the others get surprised because they never knew that,, years into their friendship). However, this often strains his relationships with people because they end up thinking he hates them or doesn't trust them or something else. While I have my own issues with the later seasons, S5 did a really good job at focusing on this in the show (when it really only ever got hinted at or shown in the comics). The whole Flora/Helia/Krystal thing was a major product of Helia never sharing anything about his own life and Flora's insecurities over if she's good enough. With the mix of being able to talk to people about their feelings, but never his own, it creates this really awkward situation of people just like,, not knowing things about him and then doubting their relationship, but then not being confident enough to express that because Helia still talks to them about their feelings so he must care about them!! .. but does he? It's this internal struggle of he's obviously a friend but why doesn't he ever share anything about himself?? This is even shown in his relationship with Saladin, a literal family member!

I'm.. gonna stop here for now ajghaljdhglj I'm sorry this got so long! And that some of them were shorter than others..

1 - favorite fic you wrote this year

definitely my big bang fic By Virtue of Divine Providence! i'm very fond of the world i created with that fic, and some of my favorite lines that i've ever written are in that fic. even though i struggled with it at times (and with myself and my own self-confidence), i'm really really proud of how it turned out!

3 - favorite line/scene you wrote this year

i have so so many to choose from, and i definitely pick a different one each time, but here's one that i like from it will be this, always:

Martin had never thought of Jon as a particularly optimistic person, nor had he viewed himself as a particularly pessimistic one. But it kept feeling like all the hope had lodged itself in Jon’s heart, leaving none left for Martin to hold onto.

it's a short little line, but i really like the cadence of it, and i also enjoy the concept of jon being the hopeful, idyllic one who believes that things can get better if they work toward it together and martin being the one who's less willing to hold onto fantasies of better lives and easy solutions to problems. i just ... really love these characters and their complexities <3

19 - any new fics to start next year

hmm i've been thinking about this! rn i'm working toward finishing up the touch prompts i got uhhhh many months ago (i've almost finished one, which is exciting for me!) but after that, i think i'm going to start a small-scale tma project so that i can also do some one-shots in tma and/or encanto. a few ideas i've had are:

- the 'jon is a tattoo artist gerry is the archivist' au, which i think i would do in a series format to take the stress of transitions and a continuous story off of myself

- very loose tokyo ghoul au, where i steal the worldbuilding and some plot details and then make up my own story arc. would probably also do this in series format, but idk if this is too niche or not

- some sort of undecided fantasy au, because i've been craving fantasy lately and i've also been craving aus. all the fantasy au writers i've been reading are so creative and have such great ideas ... i want to join 🥺

25 - a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

oh, so many. i refuse to pick just one, so here's three, all of which are fics that i've rambled to my friends about to a probably excessive degree:

1. Teeth on a String - wonderfully complex fantasy and lots of whump and angst (with a happy ending!)

2. terror management theory - i feel like i talk about this one all the time but i think about it several times a week. jon gets eaten by mr. spider when he's 8, comes back, and gets resurrected every time he dies after that.

3. each is finite. each will fade. - this is 100% the fic that made me love the idea of parents!jmart. jon and martin sleep together pre-unknowing, and jon is pregnant during s4. takes the canon s4 angst and cranks it up to 11

Ah thank you! You may be surprising nobody but now I get to ramble about my son for... Less words than I could have, but my hands are achey. So I'm happy! If you'd said IDK Time I probably would have struggled xD I love him, but I stare at him with a headache.

First impression - I do not really remember my first takes of him? I think he unfortunately just got entirely overlooked the first time I read. Shame upon myself (joking - with that many characters someone has to be overlooked. too much to hold them all in brain at once)

Impression now - my dear, sweet, wonderful blorbo, who can and would murder you if needed, but wouldn't want to. he'd much rather fix problems than cause them. he still causes problems, though, because people do. It happens sometimes. could do with some therapy and some self-esteem and some realising you have value not because your skills or deeds have value (which you also need to learn tbh) but also just for being alive, but couldn't we all? I'm sorry, I put you through hell because my brain defaults to angst and I love you. Also semi-post-apoc plus blood curse plus fairy form? Just a puddle of my favourite things.

Favourite moment - that one bit where Hyrule and Warriors absolutely wreck some dudes? I love that. There's all sorts of good little bits, but I really like that one because they're both happy? Even if they did kinda abandon Sky ^^;

Idea for a story - Hmm... I've got a couple being worked on, but for something I've not even started yet... Here from my notes: "Hyrule runs away in the Lost Woods, because something one of the other says/does causes him to panic and alive places are safe places. He's injured and hurting and desperate to be hidden, and so the Chain (let's be real, mostly Time) has to convince the forest to let him go. The forest is a bit unsettled by him, but not willing to give up a consenting victim." Not sure I'll ever get to it, but you know. It's on the list.

Unpopular opinion - I... Don't know? If I read opinions I don't like I just kinda skim past and move on from it, and I don't see much at all I fundamentally disagree with. I sometimes do things to him which don't match the majority of fic, like both giving him parents he remembers and have him be from Hyrule in the same verse, but that's not really an opinion. It's just what worked for that story. I mean I don't ship him with one of his Zeldas either, but it wouldn't stop me reading something. I just... Don't?

Favourite relationship - hmmm. Tricky. I mean I lurk in the Hyrule&Legend AO3 tag (its like 90% of the time open on my phone), so probably them? I also like it a lot. Just. Not only are they both the same timeline, but its fun to weave them together. They can teach each other a lot,

Favourite headcanon - I... typed something then realised it was a bit dark for just random twitter asks without covering it in warnings, so um... Something lighter... Hm. Wait no my lighter got very dark as well. Actually, still kinda dark *gestures vaguely at the angst comment up top* buuut... After they're used he stitches up the Link Dolls as best he can. However many functional ones he has left (and it does vary by story/verse when I write) he still keeps them all, and hugs them at night. There's a little schedule to make sure none of the dolls get hugged more than the others - he also panics if he can't find one. Even if its a used one. For the longest time they were his only companions, refusing to spend time with people for fear of the monsters going after them, and he knows soon enough they'll be the only friends he dares endanger once again... That's a very tiny headcanon, but I do very like it. It's (mostly) just cute.

I've recently discovered literary fiction is what my writing style most closely aligns with, but with that I realized a problem I find while writing is lack of conflict due to larger emphasis on character relationships and prose. Idk if you also have this struggle??? And do you have any tips for generating conflict / stuff to propel the plot forward? Thanks in advance <3

Hmm, I understand this problem but I may not give the best advice for this since I struggle with conflict! I will try my best!

If I'm thinking about my own experience writing a character-driven narrative where conflict is internal rather than external, what I like to think about is exacerbation - is there something one character does in their relationship that creates a reaction within the other party? Really not much "happens" in Feeding Habits (in terms of external conflict - physical things occurring TO the character), especially in Harrison's POV. So in order to keep momentum up in the story (otherwise it would just be a little aimless), I surround the story around a "theme", in a sense that is exacerbated by events in the story/causes more to occur.

Let me share the outline for one of his chapters so this makes more sense! Keep in mind, as I write, I naturally come up with the overall theme of the chapter -- this is not something I do before, but if you’ve never written around theme, thinking about one before might be helpful!

Chapter Six: Blood Sister

The overall theme: connections between two people can be immutable even if they are forever separated (their bond is inevitable; indissoluble).

Scene A:

Harrison returns to his apartment after running errands. His mother preps for a dinner as Harrison has invited his old friend Reeve over.

This is an introductory scene. The purpose is not thematic yet, but merely a place to get there.

Scene B:

Harrison removes a litter of kittens from behind the drywall. One of the kittens is dead. Strangely, a German Shepherd puppy is also in the litter.

This is the first hint at theme, and therefore conflict (I lace these two things in a character-driven narrative since the conflict is largely internal. Internal narrative leaves a lot of room for reflection which IMO is where theme lies).

Scene C:

Reeve appears in a glamorous blur and makes an interesting first impression on Suz who seems slightly stunned and endeared by her

Also more of an introductory chapter, though we see the thread of indissoluble connections be brought up when Reeve suggests she and Suz are blood sisters (this is how we make a pretty conflict-less, introduction scene more interesting as we give it thematic texture that reappears later).

Scene D:

At dinner Reeve confronts Harrison about his “straight-edge” lifestyle since moving to NYC and he realizes her judgements about his life being monotonous are very true–he lacks purpose.

I wrote this scene to be the first trigger for Harrison that his life without Lonan (aka the person he is immutably connected to) has been directionless, and so far from authentic. It’s just a dinner scene -- the dialogue gets tense at times, sure, but the main thing driving the conflict is this impending sense of Harrison realizing the theme of this chapter - I understood that when he acknowledged that, the chapter would end. So this is an exciting turning point!

Scene E:

Suzanna confronts Harrison about not telling her Reeve is in fact Lonan’s sister. Suz knows the boys’ relationship is complicated, and plays Devil’s advocate by outright asking Reeve how her brother is. Reeve, who hasn’t seen Lonan longer than Harrison, has assumed Lonan lives with them or is close by, and feels semi-betrayed that Harrison has kept his whereabouts a secret.

This scene exposes something publicly (so not just contained within the narrative) about Harrison: he’s trying so hard to forget his relationship with Lonan (despite how impossible this task is - avoidance won’t work) instead of addressing their connection and moving forward. In many ways, this scene shows how Harrison has willingly stuck himself into a cycle where he can’t move on from his bond with Lonan (if he did, he wouldn’t have lied to his mother & to Reeve) because he doesn’t actually want to.

Scene F:

Reeve and Harrison drive to a garden and he’s reminded of attending a party (which almost directly mirror events Lonan partook in months previous).

This is a critical scene because Harrison relives (almost exactly) the same events Lonan did while trying to avoid doing exactly this. This is setup for our mega thematic reveal in a bit.

Scene G:

Harrison makes his thematic realization after the party

This is that paragraph (CW: alcohol):

It was only later, when he stumbled, bloody knuckled, through their front door, stepping over partygoers and martini glasses, that he understood. He hadn’t come to the party thinking about Lonan but managed to attract the same people. He hadn’t drunk the magenta liquid thinking about him but managed to exit the house stumbling, as he did, his knees knotted like a newborn lamb. There was something inconceivably indissoluble about them—their bond mirror-like, one making one decision, and the other mimicking it with vigour, unknowingly inseparable.

This is the climax of the chapter -- the moment the other scenes before (and after) worked up to. 

Scene H:

Reeve and Harrison perform a water burial for one of the deceased kittens.

This is sort of the falling action of the previous scene -- now that Harrison has realized his past actions were all because of this bond he has with Lonan (the theme!), the way he reacts in the fictive present is informed by this info. This scene provides thematic richening: we got the theme in scene G, scene H allows us to digest it and see how that manifests in Harrison’s present life (it results in self-destruction oops).

Scene I:

Harrison wakes up in the cold, very drunk, and Reeve is gone. A security guard looms over him. Harrison asks the confused man if he thinks he was separated at birth. He isn’t referring to feeling like he’s been removed from a sibling bond, like the kittens, but a deeper, “indissoluble bond” formed between two people (like the kittens and the puppy). This connects to the title “Blood Sister” as Reeve suggests she and Suzanna may be connected in this way, to the kittens, and to Lonan and Harrison.

This is the final little resolution bit but probably the second most important moment in the chapter (after the thematic revelation). This is a moment of admittance. Finally, Harrison accepts that what he’s realized is true and that’s it’s impacted how he’s lived his life the entire time (despite not thinking it did).

So essentially, the conflict comes from a larger theme that the character must grapple with, and they grapple it through events that are influenced by that theme. You can also think of it as the “core” of the chapter -- something everything revolves around. This helps a LOT when I’m writing chapters where not much happens/most stuff is internal.

2021 Reading for BTS and the collective!!

Wow wow wow! I didn't disappear or get dragged away by a demon. No no, I just got thrust into unexpected shadow work and I now have an unhealthy obsession with sea shanties and a love of pasta.

I had this idea planned to be early in January but that didn't pan out so I'm doing it now. I have another yoongi reading in the works and another fun thing coming soon as well!!

Oki. I first want to say that this I gonna be long lol. I did a meditation and gathered some little pieces of things y'all might need to hear and then I pulled cards for every month. The fountain tarot deck is the cards for us, the collective, and the rider-waite cards are for bts. It'll make more sense when I add picks and stuff. I did a little extra card pull for yoongi for the month of May too :) I'll make sure to type out all the cards in text so you know what they are (the pics are kinda wack.) I also used my pendulum to ask if there was a bts related event for every month and that's at the bottom. It's just to take in the possible energy for the month and something that could result from that energy!

Starting with the section for the channeled messages. I want to reiterate that this was collective so if it doesn't resonate with you, the message might not be for you! Use your intuition.

So. As I said this was through meditation and connecting to the big column tree thing (I told my cousin about the tree/pillar and they were like,, "so basically a big energy dildo in the æther?" .... I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. h e l p m e) and asking if there was any messages or advice that needed to be delivered and it was... intresting?

Things came fragmented. So there was little messages like, "Its gonna be okay" and "things are changing for everyone" and "open your eyes if you want to see" (that's sassy.) There was one particular thing that was confusing me though. Straight up it was just "flower" on repeat and like a really bad picture of a flower? Like you could tell what it was but it was bad quality. Anyway, I was like "okay. Kindly shut the fuck up. Pls." And I wrote down flower, pink flower and rose. Sooo.... idk but there you go.

More messages were things like, "the block isn't in your head", "try calling forth that which you seek" and... February. Possibly there is specific (very very very loose) connection to the 10th-19th? I'm not to sure what or why but I'd say maybe look out for opportunities on these days and also maybe external events.

Continuing with dates. In the last this 21 and January 21 came up. It came up again but with 2 messages. So first, either 21st is a day where something is put into motion (possibly private or public) or announced and the second was "add them together dumbass" that's not very kind but 3. Again this has been discussed too but but but... maybe a signal of a third mixtape 👀 (not necessarily on the 21st per say but possibly in March? I'm really not sure).

Oki. I got side tracked like I always do and started thinking about tattoos and stuff and I really want koo to have a peony tattoo. I feel it in my BONES. It would suit him so well. and as I was thinking about tattoos I heard, "don't be surprised if yoongi gets/shows a tattoo this year" ??? What the fuck? I think maybe they messing with me but now I have hopes and I don't want them to be crushed and thrown to the wind :(

Back to normal stuff, "the theme is growth" I think that fits very well with the reading. "Blue might be a lucky color" self explanatory. It might be lucky. "Start practicing grounding and centering" this was LOUD. This will help you in how you react to events in the future. Really do practice this if you haven't.

This is where it gets a little weird. So, I got a message that said "start living as if you never existed." I am not a 100% sure what this means but I think I have a pretty good guess. I hate to make it sound weird like this but by sort of focusing on something that is so hard to comprehend (because our brains can't comprehend not existing very well) you kinda break the 4th wall? Like in Deadpool when he addresses the audience and is aware that he is a character played by Ryan Reynolds? anyway, focusing on something that seemingly impossible you kind of accidentally open up the floodgates for a lot of other things. I would say if you are not in the right headspace to do this don't do it but it can be a powerful way to break up the monotony of reality. The theory that everything happens simultaneously bc time isn't a linear progression events blah blah we are energy blah blah the multiverse blah blah.. Theres so so so so so so so so so much about this and how it applies to things that I could probably write you 10+ dictionaries worth of material but for the sake of simplicity and not wanting to write a novel right now, I will continue. The main lesson is to start challenging your perception of the world around you. Ask why and why and why and why. Essentially seeing cracks in the matrix. Pulling your head out of your cosmic ass, realizing that rose you're smelling is actually daffodil ect. It's not supposed to bring you fear but just kinda encouraging you to question all the things that you perceive as given truths.

I tried to make that sound cohesive but really it's such a big concept that I can't really wrap it up all nice and neat.

Oki. May and March are also important times.

Listen to your intuition and try not to take everything so seriously. I'm not saying to check out and go squat in the Himalayas but it's important to find joy in the now. Life is already tough enough so don't forget to watch a silly show that you like or change your hair to a style you've never tried, wear makeup in a very loud way. Just have fun and don't worry so much about things that you can't control. Listen to yourself and your intuition.

January for the collective

We have the empress, the sun, 7 of swords and a fortune that says "act well your part; there the honor lies"

Hmm. Ngl I was a little confused to see the empress and the sun for January... I mean it hasn't been great. So I pulled clarity card 7 of swords. The 7 of swords is all about betrayal. It's about the deception and and actively getting away with things. This is people lying, cheating, sneaking and the works.

This makes much more sense!! The Sun card is usually about joy and success and happiness but in this case I see it as illuminating the betrayal. It's shining light on the deception and keeps the spotlight there. Its also an energetic card so I think that shows passion for uncovering the truth.

With the empress card too I think January is all about getting creative in all forms. Creative ways to protest, to mourn, to celebrate, to connect. Also taking in the abundance that we DO have. The beauty that surrounds us. I like to think of aphrodite energy for this. Its not just love and passion and creativity but is also asserting yourself and having strong passion for what you love and fighting for it. Did you know aphrodite was also called upon in ancient Greece in times of war? She was honored as a goddess of war but still a goddess of love, the sea, fertility ect. What I'm trying to say is that being a creative and "feminine" energy is in no way weak. Sometimes the most powerful things come from this energy. Love aggressively with good intentions. The point is that you should take whatever you're feeling and translate it into something creative or something you care about. The fact that covid is still a thing really sucks but take any rage, hurt, sadness, joy, love whatever and use that shit to make something amazing. Bake bread and punch the fuck out of it, paint your frustration, play hopscotch in higheels while you listen to heavy metal. You get the point.

January has been... strange? To say the least.

This card can be a lot of things for them. I think this points to more maturity in their music? Like they've finally ditched the "shiny kpop boy band" label and are being taken seriously in the west. I also think that they're going through a musical/concept transformation~ I think it also signified the change in plans bc of the Grammys perhaps they had things planned an that fell through so they were forced to rapidly change plan/course.

February for the collective

We have 8 of coins reverse and hanged man reverse.

The 8 of pentacles reverse talks a lot about self improvement. Doing that good good inner work and self care. Working on developing parts of you that you've maybe neglected. It's also learning how to work with how you are instead of wishing you weren't the way you are. If you have a therapist its a great time to maybe ask for any extra tips that you can practice daily to help you even more. Maybe exploring more into insecurities relating to finance or jobs or your passions. If you don't have a therapist but you have the means to get one I always highly recommend. You don't have to have "problems" to see a therapist. Everyone could use a non biased point of view that is literally trained to help you be you best self. If you can't get therapy, I get it. Shits tough rn but there's still things we can do to better ourselves like Journaling and reading therapy blogs or self help books (not the taky shit) or trying a hobby you fell out of touch with. There's also a lot of places where you can get therapy promise on the internet. Most importantly, better yourself in the way that you need. Take time in February to take notice of what you want to improve upon. The 8 of coins reversed does come with the warning not to get stuck in perfectionism. Go easy on yourself and if you find yourself getting frustrated when working on projects, try to take a step back and practice whatever it is in a fun way and then come back to it later

Hanged man reverse talks about knowing that you need to chill but you don't. You'll need too. Maybe you'll find yourself swept up in work and tasks and you're over whelmed and know you need to stop and catch your breath but you resist. Why? Well, perhaps you're trying to ignore reality by filling the empty spaces with things and stuff so you don't have to face what's bothering you. Not wise. Take time for yourself. There's also the flips side where people are just kinda stuck.. creative block. Maybe you want something to turn out one way and it just isn't, so your stuck and frustrated and can't move past it. Let go of your expectation of how it should be and let it be what it is. Go with the flow and maybe you'll see a new way to overcome your problem. You'll eventually get that break through that you need! The theme of February is about self improvement. Listen to yourself.

Hehe yeah. This card is about rebirth and the inner calling. Letting go of the old to step into the new version of you. This is also a very spiritual card lol. This can talk about a new decision that you have to trust your gut on. This is a very significant card that screams comeback to me. It also can talk about sharing your struggles with a group of people and that to me sounds comeback ish. Maybe this will be an announcement in February, maybe they'll be working on it idk but this is ultimate comeback energy so I hope they utilize this for a big group project!!

The chariot and justice

This plays directly off of February! With the chariot you're taking the self improvement that you've done and putting it to action! Now is the time to act on the dreams and passions that you have don't wait and hope for the best. March is about action and standing in your power.

Justice card is cause and effect and truth. What you do will have consequences good or bad. Not doing anything also has consequences. Cease the moment and make the best of it. You'll be taking responsibility for what you do. You start a business? Now you have the responsibility of running it and you get the credit. Stuff like that. Stand by your decisions with conviction and trust yourself.

There's also the side of justice that talks about bringing justice. If you've been wronged, you'll be brought justice if you stand up for yourself.

We also carry the continuous lesson of learning what we truly believe and challenge those beliefs!

Oki we have the hermit and the 6 of pentacles reverse.

Well... let's start with the 6 of pentacles reverse. This can really talk about being so generous and giving to everyone else that you forget about yourself. I think that maybe they might be over exerting themselves and giving so much that they're exhausted physically and emotionally as well. I think too, they take on so much of our pain like its their own? Idk but this would be a good time to do a large scale fan project to show them a little extra love!

With the hermit card it talks about a self introspection so they could be looking inward as a team and kinda evaluating their bond.

I also see this as maybe being alone as in they maybe can't physically go to the grammys? Or maybe they had been planning the rescheduled concerts and they had to be pushed back even further? Things like that. Regardless this signals re thinking/reevaluating the goals that they have and considering what direction to go in!

Let's start with the 6 of coins. It's about sharing. It can be about charity so sharing money via donation but also giving time, effort, energy to people as well. Giving knowledge is good too! It's an all round exchange. Maybe someone lends you money or you lend money to someone. It's give and take. It's a two way street. It's also a card of balanced finance. So money stuff should be looking promising around this time (for you U.S people this could point to more stimulus help as well)

And for the 3 of cups reversed... I see this as reopening of places and people struggling to find the balance. So think people who've been in lockdown celebrating by throwing a big party... yikes. This card reminds that we should be mindful of the long-term consequences that come with our actions.. maybe also people that are experiencing fear of being in public places now. This is only one facet though. Bc I think this also means in general, missing being with friends and having a renewed relationship because you've really realized how important it is to have these people that mean so much to you in your life. Don't forget that you have people that love you and want the best for you. Call them when you feel alone.

The heirophant

Mhmm. This one kinda gives me vibes that they'll be mentoring people? Idk but I see them more as the heirophant teaching what they've learned/ know to help guide others. HOWEVER this could also be them taking a new task under their belt. Learning something new. Since this is as a group reading I assume that this talks about the group as a whole. This card is also very tradition oriented so maybe they are taking lessons that are connected to traditional Korean culture? Maybe its for RUN or maybe its to incorporate into music and preformance. Think bts mma preformance but all of them learning together? Idk, it's just a thought (maybe wishful thinking). It also talks about seeking counseling so maybe they'll do yoongis idea from the most recent RUN.

This can also be them embracing this kind of leadership/ status.

Five of cups and queen of cups reversed

Five of cups is disappointment, regret and self pity. Now honestly this to me looks like possibly a tightening of restrictions yet again. Regardless of the situation that this is talking about, the best thing you can do is not wallow in the bullshit. You scrape yourself off the pavement and move foward. You'll need forgiveness of yourself and others and that if shit isn't going your way, you need to pull your head out of your ass and look around bc there's options out there. It's like drowning in a kiddie pool. Just stand up, dude. The water is like 5 inches.

Queen of cups reversed talks about self love and self care. It's more of that look inwards energy. Think about really taking care of yourself. May might be emotionally draining so you need to be ready to take care of you! Part of self care is making sure that your boundaries are well enforced.

Be on the look out for codependent behaviors. Check in with yourself.

The queen of cups is very intuitive and having it in reverse can talk about you not taking enough time to listen to it. Make an effort to meditate for like 5 minutes a day at least. Do something to let yourself connect to your intuition and higher self.

This about enjoying the fruits of your labor and absolute abundance and luxury. This could talk about them rolling in the dough after signing a new partnership or having a concert or something if the sort. This could also be a time where we see them buying new things like houses, cars and rings (lol) but also this could be them doing a very high production value project! Also namjoon and his bonsai army are thriving in this time!

I asked for one card to give me an idea of what the mystical May 13th really is. I got: the star, 2 of cups, 4 of wands, the world and the sun.

Guys. I can't with this. 2 of cups is a card of union, romance, soulmate. 4 of wands is celebration, joy, homecoming, bliss. The world is completion and the sun is happiness, joy, marriage, enlightenment.

I've said it a billion times but that's some soulmate shit. So soft so cute and May will be eventful for his personal life.

Death and the heirophant reversed.

Wow wow wow death is transformation and a new chapter so a new way of life and something new/ different that changes how we see things. Again this could be relating to new covid things and new policies and stuff like that but also new as in new to all of us. Groundbreaking perhaps?

The heirophant reversed talks about teaching yourself. Being your own teacher and making your own path. This might be spiritual or otherwise. Challange what the world wants from you and instead listen to what you truly want bc you don't need anyone's approval. Continue to ask questions about why things are the way that they are.

Page of pentacles

Oki oki page of pentacles means a new creative venture and manifestation. Maybe something that they've been wanting for a while finally comes to fruition. This might be the start of a new project that they haven't done before or something cross genre? Idk but its a really good sign of being motivated for a new endeavor and manifesting any projects that they've ever wanted to do. Love this promising energy!!

10 of swords and 9 of cups reversed.

10 of swords signals a painful ending. Also deceit. Its a necessary end to a long battle. The only thing you can do is control how you react in these situations. You just kinda gotta surrender into the pain and know that it's temporary. Take time to reflect on what happened and why and how it will help you grow.

The 9 of cups reversed talks about valuing stuff and material things over emotions and spiritual things. This can be talking about society in general, that we are becoming more aware to the fact that there is often more value placed on ephemeral items rather than humanity as a whole. This also can be talking about coming to the realization that we've been working so hard towards... something we don't really care about simply because we were told that it's what you do.

If you want something different to happen you have to put in effort. You can't be sitting in front of a water fountain being like, "damn. I'm thirsty. I really really want water so why isn't it in my mouth yet?" Like?? Hello? You have to take the first step, my dude.

Certainly don't try to do anything that would cost you finatial security or health.

You have the potential to find happiness within yourself. So try looking inside instead of looking outward.

This is about rest and relaxation!

Taking time to meditate and take some time to look at what you've done objectively. Ots like the hermit in a way but much more focused on resting and relaxing so you can come back stronger and with better direction. Maybe they'll take a break for a couple days but I really see it as them reassessing options. Especially if July goes how I think it will. Maybe they'll film something like In The Soop again? Maybe we'll see bon voyage type thing? Idk. But it could be something kinda out of the spotlight? Maybe something more healing?

August for the collective

5 of coins and the wheel of fortune

Well let's see. 5 of pentacles talks about isolation and a negative mindset. This talks about falling on hard times but its a temporary set back. This energy can be talking about falling on hard times emotionally as well. In the card it shows a woman outside of a church shivering and cold but she's too busy thinking about all that she's lost that she doesn't notice the warm church that she could step into for shelter.

But then with he wheel of fortune that talks about fate/destiny, opportunity and luck so maybe this is a necessary loss so that a new door can open. This does kinda tie in with July as well. The end of something is painful but it's often a necessary thing. Might be a bit uncomfy but that's how things change. Again I see this maybe hinting more towards society but none the less it's definitely a theme for August to have doors closing and new ones opening so be on the lookout for that.

August for BTS

The devil.

Now don't fret. The devil talks a lot about choice. Most notably the choice between instant gratification and and something more substantial and the devil leans towards indulgence. It also has a lot to do with the shadow side. This could talk about ~scandal~ sure, but I think its more of a time where you become aware of negative patterns and you shine a light on that part you've ignored. On a much lighter note this card talks also about an incredible bond between people. It can be unhealthy if not given space or boundaries. Listen to pied piper and come back to me.

I also REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that this card points to this: sexuality. The boys have always been pretty pg when it comes to the topic of sex and embracing sexuality so I really do hope to see something more daring and grown up and exploring a tastefully sexy concept. On the same vain as sexuality this card also talks about kinks and stuff like that so don't be surprised if we get more outfits like fake love Era bondage harnesses.

We have the world and 10 of wands reversed.

The 10 of wands reversed talks about carrying burden. Doing extra work and taking on more responsibility. Doing everything by yourself and carrying this heavy load alone will get you burnt out quicker than anything. You might be taking on too much and you'll need to prioritize what you really need to focus on. I also think there will just be a lot happening in September for a lot of people. It's a lot of working hard because you know it's good work or because it's what's right. This could be social responsibility that's placed on you or work responsibility. For whatever reason this burden isn't something you want to share with others because you think its yours alone to deal with. It's not though bc you'll figure out eventually that if it hurts so much you'll find a way to lessen the burden. 10 in tarot is all about the completion of a cycle and going through the wands cycle is hard work because for anything to be made of passion, you need to put the work behind it. The burden isn't forever, the heavy work load will lighten but this is you seeing things out. It's a good thing!

Especially considering this is paired with with world. The world is all about completion and that's what you're doing here is finding completion. You are seeing things out until the end but you just need to learn to give up some responsibility, lessen your burden.

This also talks about hard work being put into wider social spheres as well. Things like the vaccines becoming more widespread through the whole globe or at least better planing and infrastructures not related to covid. Things are looking up!

This bad boi is restless energy. It's being so pent up that you're ready to burst and you really want to take action but you can't because something is keeping you from taking that action. Again I do think this is kinda covid related in regards to touring bc if they do tour in 2021 its gonna look a lot different. This energy can be a bit impulsive and directionless so I think maybe they'll channel this into album material something? I'm not really sure tbh. I'm suprised this energy didn't show up earlier because it almost seems inevitable.

Ten of coins and the star reverse.

Welp let's start with the 10 of coins. Its about wealth, financial security, and long term success so this is a pretty prosperous time. This talks about the obvious monetary wealth and material wealth but also an abundance of opportunities. So this is definitely a good time to enjoy whatever consistency you have. This energy is really really abundant in the career space as well. So October could be very prosperous in the job field and you'll have likely found what it is you really want and could be successful at. This could be the actual act or just the idea. This is could also talk about investing in something for your future, this could be time or money.

With the star reversed it can talk about a loss of faith and a disconnection. This often points to feeling like you've just been forgotten or left out. Like the universe doesn't give a shit about you and left you out to die. Things might seem unfair but always try to look for the lesson that you can take from the experience. Seeing the 10 of coins and the star makes me think that a lot of people have kinda lost faith in their manifestations and also just in the concept of not living in a state of need. Especially if you see other people doing well and you've been trying so fucking hard but you haven't gotten a break. I know we hate to hear it but this can serve as a test of faith. This signals the end of difficult times and getting that groove back. The last month was restless energy with no where to go but this month that energy is certainly put to good use. The thing you have to keep in mind is just how amazing this is in terms of what it will do. It will alow growth!! And bring clarity!! Thos can also be societal as well, something being left behind in favor of something new. It's letting go and reflecting so that you can move foward.

This is strengthened by the moon card. The moon card is the subconscious and all the things that come with it. The anxiety, the illusion, the uncertainty. You'll want to deal with whatever emotions come up. The moon can signify a confusing time where things aren't what they seem to be. That's the illusions so you'll have rely more on intuition at a time like this. Your dreams might hold significance in this time as well. Challenge and competition. People are envious of bts. We know this. But people will be challenging them for what they've gained: music industry domination. This might co.e in the way that people will spread vicious rumors in attempt to disenfanchise or possibly it will be a fair fight. It could also be a challenge/ battle for some other aspect that involves legal matters.

My best guess though is good old competition. Bts has proven again and again that they will continue to do what they do how they do but they will not be trampled over. In the best way this could renew some of that spirit in friendly competition. They will tear eachothers throats out for a pack of ramen so maybe a bit of competition will be good for them. It keeps life intresting.

Let's start off with the emperor card talks about stability and order. It can also signify being the "breadwinner" so its a good sign that you'll kinda be on top of your shit. The emperor is also an amazing leader so you might find yourself taking on a leadership role too! This is very organized energy that works very smoothly!

two of cups is such a lovely way to end out the year! It's love and partnership and attraction so if you aren't in a relationship by this time you might meet someone who strikes your fancy!! On a none romantic relationship note though, this card is also great for business partnership bc it signifies that you're on the same page and have the same goals in mind!

It's harmonious relationships and trust between them!! Love love love this energy so much! Cups are the suit of emotions and this card is so promising.

If you are in a relationship, this can talk about "falling in love all over again" like you're just reminded of how good they are.

Intuition, creativity and emotional stability. They're using intuition to guide their moves foward with emotional maturity. They are in a place of knowing what they want and why. This would be a good time to work on an album or a book or to release them. The queen of cups is like the friend that you can tell absolutely anything and somehow they have a helpful answer. This card is really calm and it can also talk about subconscious thoughts.

I think that bts is maybe making more of a conscious effort to make sure that what they do is just as emotionally fulfilling for them as it is for us! They might be kinda pondering the future at this time and considering if this is what fills their emotional cup!

The 3 of swords is about disappointment and hurt and heartbreak. It's about the emotional release that we all need when shit gets tough. Don't pretend to be strong. If you need to cry, fucking cry. This year is about letting go of expectations and do what you have to do to release so you can move foward and not have these things pile up.

You have to make an effort to not let yourself take on what other people think of you. You aren't defined by what some asshole says. You define yourself.

Judgment reverse is about self doubt and ignoring your path. It's being stagnant and being harsh on yourself. This year has a focus on building yourself up and noticing when you are not. Bring light to the things that are holding you back without harsh judgment for yourself. You can't beat yourself up. If you make a bad decision you know not to make it again. Take accountability and move on.

The oracle card is inner temple.

Seriously all the focus of this year is in self improvement and dear god, please take time to work on yourself spiritually!!! Everything you want to know is there if you take the time to listen. This should be a place where you feel safe and welcome. It definitely should not feel like something you HAVE to do.

The 10 of swords is a painful but necessary end. This is accepting the current situation. They maintain focus for 2021 for them is adapting and keeping their spirits up.

With the page of swords it talks about new ideas and that kind of creativity. It's also a lot about communication so I really think that they'll be figuring out new ways to connect and new projects that will be prosperous.

The oracle card is Pleiades

This is what we talk about all the time. Bts has helped so many people want to be better and do better. They are uplifting humanity and giving people a sense if belonging. Bts finds you when you need them most 💜💜💜
