Had this sketch page lying around since February! I tried to color it then, but it never came out right so I abandoned it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A while back I opened the file again and decided on sticking to just the line art (with hints of editing here and there ;) and it was Much easier on the eyes haha
Anyway, enjoy these redraws from my favourite Don Rosa comic "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek" (aka the one where they Fuck (heavily implied)) and a rummaging Scrooge lol

Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O'Gilt - The Prisoner of White Agony Creek - The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck - Christmas and New Year celebration (Scroldie)
I drew this yesterday, even though this is a belated celebration of Christmas and New Years, I definitely want to pay a little attention to it, so I combined from the comics and from the current holiday celebration. So I drew a scene from The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by the genius Don Rosa, more specifically from the comic book "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek", where we saw the dynamic relationship between Scrooge and Goldie in the Klondike period, from the late 19th century and early 20th century. Scrooge McDuck was the Klondike King, while Goldie was the Klondike Queen, i.e. The Star of the North. Their relationship may not have been exactly romantic, but it was comical and somehow you could see through Don Rosa that they were meant for each other. And that was shown at the end of that comic, but they still love each other, even if they fight over gold.
I drew it as New Year's morning where Glittering Goldie pours hot coffee for Scrooge and makes him a great breakfast, while Scrooge McDuck marvels at it all. Yes, drawn as a redraw from that scene in that comic, although Goldie poured coffee to Scrooge in the Carl Barks comic "Back to the Klondike". Yes, there are eggs for breakfast. Above them is a mistloe and a small Christmas tree, as in those days there were not as many Christmas tree decorations as there are today, and they are also in a cabin in the Klondike in the Yukon.
I hope you like this drawing and this idea. I also wish everyone a happy holiday! By the way, this drawing is also my gift to @goldiejake11 and @pick-and-shovel-laborer, who are fans of this couple. There, my Christmas and New Year's gift from me! I hope you like it!

When Goldie O’Gilt and Scrooge McDuck met in Dawson in 1897, neither expected to meet their match. The story of two cold Klondike hearts – the miner and the dance hall girl, the King of the Klondike and the Ice Queen of Dawson or an AU where Scrooge still doesn’t read the letter, but he doesn’t lose his sled either.
Please enjoy chapters 1 & 2. <3

I got reminded of this book!
Tumblr media
The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, with the b- and c parts! It's in finnish of course, but still managed to keep all jokes! I used to be obsessed with Donald Duck and Ducktales, especially Scrooge lol (i also may or may not have had a crush on Goldie and Magica). I love this book, since it has all the stories, including the bonus ones in one piece. My favorites out of all of them are The King of Klondike, The Prisoner of White Agony Creek, and A Letter from Home. A Letter from Home is especially one of my long time favorites.
I really like Don Rosa as an artist and a writer! His art is always very detailed, and honestly kinda funny. A lot of my early line work was actually very inspired by him! Also all his stories featuring Magica De Spell are hilarious, especially the one where she's messing with gravity.
Some of my favorite panels:

An honorary mention goes to A Little Something Special, which isn't in this book, but i just love it SO MUCH lmao

*THERE'S AN UPDATE TO THIS! PLS DO GO READ IT, it's important! Don Rosa clarifies the situation!!!*
We're still waiting to know more about this but... there's already a massive uproar going on in the italian Disney comics community right now.
You really want to keep your edition of "The Life and Times" very dear, fellow Disney comics and ducks fans...
Tumblr media
"Don Rosa announced on his group that the famous Scrooge McDuck Saga will no longer be reprinted.
The Walt Disney Company, in fact, is reviewing its library of stories due to the company's constant commitment to diversity and inclusion and has communicated to the author that the last two chapters of the Saga will no longer be included in any collection.
According to Don Rosa it makes no sense to publish the saga without its final chapters, so there will be no other publications of the same for the future."
All main italian Disney comics sites and blogs has been reporting the news, including Papersera, Fumettologica and Ventenni Paperoni... and even national newspapers.
And here's the article from Cbr that started it all:
Here's the answer Don Rosa published on his Facebook group:
Tumblr media
So Disney's taking down "The Richest Duck in the World" and "The Dream of a Lifetime" for "inclusiveness" issues 🤷🏽‍♀️
Don Rosa's right not wanting the full saga to be published anymore. You can't have the Life and Times without two chapters! Especially "The Richest Duck in the World"! That's nonsense! There's already been problems (at least in Italy) with "The Prisoner Of White Agony Creek", now this?
This is not to protect inclusiveness, this is to deprive the new generations of one of the greatest graphic novels ever written!
Before teaching people inclusiveness, maybe, we should have a talk about what "context" means... because I reckon to be a huge problem there in the first place when it comes to art and literature.

Top 3 favorite duck comics NOT by Barks (and Rosa)?
That is a hard thing to answer because I've only read Barks and Rosa because of the availability in English so best thing I can do is best Rosa stories.
1) The Old Castle's Other Secret/A Letter from Home
2) The Prisoner of White Agony Creek
3) Either The Son of the Sun or The Last Lord of Eldorado.
Overall while I really like those stories I cannot reread them for the life of me. Something about Rosa's writing is not very reread friendly for me

BETWEEN THE LEGS ASDFGHJHLSK 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
THANK YOU SO MUCH OMFG @justaboot YOU ARE A LEGEND
Also, here is a Random Thought - Scrooge and Goldie are both ace spec, but while Scrooge is the "innocent minded ace who makes dirty jokes and weird comments by accident and gets all embarrassed when someone explains it to him" kind of asexual, whereas Goldie is the "Reads and writes smut and makes dirty jokes on purpose" kind of asexual. Both are equally valid.
And yes I am aware that it's (heavily) implied that they Fucked in the Cabin but - spoiler alert - ace people can and do have physical intimacy, and sometimes they Do The Thing!
WHEW didn't expect this to turn into an ace headcanon post but here we are
see usually when people find out about the whole Goldie drugs Scrooge's coffee to steal his gold and leaves him for dead in the snow situation they say things like "wow that's insane" and "that's fucked up what do you mean that happened in scrooge mcduck" and "I can't believe she would do that"
and NOT, quote, "he probably didn't deserve it but i'm still on her side" "i mean like if he survived then what's the problem" "i support goldie's rights and goldie's wrongs", end quotation. this is quite a new response for me, thanks for your valuable input girl

Another mixed designs Goldie! In the comic I love her in the most (The Prisoner of White Agony Creek) she basically works in her dress the entire time she’s with Scrooge at his cabin, so it’s completely worn and ragged at the end. It felt more logical to me for her to eventually wear some kind of blouse as a top (like she does in Ducktales 2017) that she borrowed from Scrooge or something (or he has her leasing or buying it from him lmao). Also brought back her beloved hair roll. I drew her with her Ducktales-ponytail at first, but decided to change it to a messy bun for authenticity. ALSO I love drawing their tail feathers and will never forgive Don Rosa for covering hers up!

Scrooge Mcduck and Goldie Ol'Gilt for the Christmas kiss requests?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure!
I drew an older Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O'Gilt kissing under the mistletoe planted by Donald's mischievous nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and there's Goldie's granddaughter Dickie photographing them above.
Yes, I drew their kiss to look like two Don Rosa comics "The Prisoner of White Agony Creek" and "A Little Something Special". Hope you like it and sorry for the delay!
Also this is a gift for my friends @goldiejake11 and @pick-and-shovel-laborer who love this love couple. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays!

It’s an old house, but Times are pretty tough lately, so you take what you can afford.
The rent wasn’t too bad, and you found a couple roommates, brother and sister, to help share the cost. Besides, basement to loft, you have a lot of space. Sure the floors creek, the door sticks, and there’s a draft at every seam, but it *feels* like a home, and there’s something to be said about that.
You toured all the new “luxury” apartments, and even if they were affordable, a lifeless grey box with equally lifeless white accents and a rectangular hellscape both indoors and out just didn’t seem to catch your interest. It wasn’t until you blew a tire in front of this house that you noticed the small “FOR RENT” sign, posted out front, text so faded you could barely read the number to call.
A couple weeks and a bit of paperwork later, and you’re shuffling in your whole life from the back of a U-Haul
………
It’s been about a week living in your new place. You and your roommates were far more eager to unpack here than you ever have been. Something about it just… felt right. You can’t explain. But for the first time, after a move, you’ve had more energy than you ever have. Usually it takes months, sometimes boxes don’t even get unloaded before you move again. But it’s almost as if the house itself *wants* you to settle in. The look of the bare walls and empty rooms calls for you to make the space into a home.
Like any old house though, you’ve noticed some oddities… for one, it’s immaculately clean. At first you assume your roommates have dusted and tidied, but both of them are equally shocked by the level of complete cleanliness. You haven’t even seen so much as a basement wolf spider, or a lingering cobweb. I guess the drafty windows can keep things out better than you thought.
The front door sticks, a lot. Every time you try to leave for work, it’s nearly impossible to open. One day it took both you and a roommate to open it before it even budged. It’s ok, you put a request into maintenance. One day a neighbor mentions that the house seemed to be making odd noises. As if it were “moaning in agony” he joked. He mentioned it might be good to get the foundation checked. You shrugged. “Old houses, you know?” And pulled out your phone to make a call to the landlord. You walked up to the door, went to put the key in, and before you even touched the lock, the door cracked open, with a gentle *click*! In the way old doors do. Oh well, another thing to add to the maintenance list. You walk inside.
… Why did you have your phone out?
………..
A few months pass. your roommates move out, family emergency out of state. For the next week, you’re wracked with a bone-chilling sense of sorrow, of loss, of loneliness. The house itself feels heavy. The creaks grow louder, the door sticks tighter. Lights flicker, and there’s a sense of fear every time you leave for work. After work, you get antsy. You have that party you’ve been looking forward to tonight, but you should go home.
A lot of your friends will be there, you haven’t seen them in a while… why haven’t you seen them in a while??…. You should go home.
It’ll just be for a bit… you should go home.
You should go home
You should go home
You go home.
Your neighbor said he swears he saw the building swelling, and moaning, almost mourning. Might be termites, he says. You say thanks, you’ll call the landlord.
The door is unlocked. You swear you locked it… you don’t think much. The closer you come to the house the calmer and more relaxed you feel. You come inside. Why did you have your phone out?
……………
It’s been 7 months. Things are beginning to feel very odd. The air in the house is heavy, oppressive. It feels as though you are trapped, but not as a prisoner. As a partner in a codependent relationship. You barely want to leave the house. You’ve even called out of work multiple times. It could just be seasonal depression, but it feels… different. You look around the house, you can almost feel the emptiness. The loneliness, the weight of the silence. It hits you. Ever since your roommates moved out, You’ve had these feelings. Even before you moved in, the house had a special draw to it. A pull, as if the building itself wanted you there… as if… the house was lonely.
“It’s you, isn’t it?” You say… silence, for a while. You sit in the floor. You don’t know why. This is silly. You’re talking to a building. A structure of brick and wood and plaster… but nonetheless, the moment you sit in the floor, the home groans. “You… get lonely, when no one is here?” A small creak, a flicker of light. “You aren’t… trying to hurt me, but you’re afraid I won’t come back?” The radiator behind you hisses. No, it *sighs* a mournful, somber sound. “Look… I understand loneliness well. But you can’t keep me trapped here, ok? You’re my home. I will return every day. But I have a life, too. I have needs. Please, let me have a little more space. It will be ok.” One last settling of the house. And a wave of relief. I hoped, after a small talk, things might be better.
………….
The remaining few months were much better. The door no longer stuck when you left for work, you never felt the oppressive need to return immediately. In fact, the house seemed to understand better your movements. It became a comfort, a welcome, a constant source of ease in your life. Even the old electric lighting seemed to glow brighter than before.
Unfortunately, the landlord called.
“Hey… uh… house?” Quiet. “Uh… the landlord called… the guy who uhm… owns the property. He’s raising my rent next year. I can’t afford to live here anymore. I’m sorry… I…” the house shook, a frame fell off the wall. The radiators in every room let out a painful, harsh scream. A terrifying sob. As the whole building was shook with a terrible pain and sense of loss. “Hey!! Hey hey!!”, you say, gently touching the doorframe. “It’s ok. You’ll find new tenants. Be kind to them, as you have to me. They’ll find just as much love in this home as I have” yoh say these words as you realize how true they are. The home has become just that to you. A home. The idea of leaving feels empty. Not because of the house itself this time, but because you also don’t want to leave. But that’s just how it is… “the landlord is going to be by tomorrow for an inspection while I’m at work. Don’t be too mean, ok?”
…….
You don’t know what to expect when you get back home. You guess you’ll start packing. Mourning *with* a house is a new thing to you, but the world is weird sometimes. As you arrive, the door swings open, with excitement and vigor, as if the house has something it’s eager to show you. You walk in, set your bag down, and head into the living room. As you go to sit down, you see an old, yellowed, piece of paper tri-folded on the table. It looks important.
The paper cracks lightly as you open it, it feels fragile. In large, faded, cursive lettering, right across the top you read “TITLE DEAD” followed by the address of the property, and… your name. In clear print. Looking down the paper, it’s all clear, legal, and legitimate. it has to be. the age of the document matches the age of the home. at the bottom, a singular line. awaiting a signature. you notice a fountain pen on the table; Was that there before? The home groans in anticipation… you feel it better not to ask about the old landlord. You pick up the pen, and a single bead of thick, blood red ink seeps out…
i think we have a lot of media about houses that are alive and hate You Specifically for making it this way. what about houses that love you too much

Soooooo....this is from one of my all time favourite stories Don Rosa’s   ‘The Prisoner of White Agony Creek’.  It is one of the panels that Rosa wouldn’t have been allowed to include but we all kinda wish he would have. 😆

Duckvember - Day 3: Damage
“But Scrooge... What about all that’s happened in the past month? Doesn’t it mean anything?”
~~~
“Maybe it’s nicer to pretend that there’s one person in this sorry world that I might... that I can...”
~~~
Duckvember prompt: damage
My silly brain: you mean… emotional damage?? you mean… a n g s t??? yes???
I consider these to be two of the most heartbreaking scenes in all of Don Rosa’s comics. They always make me tear up.
Dedicated to my friend @moonstoneflowers. You know why! ;-)
