watching the yoi movie cancellation unfold makes me feel extremely privileged and grateful that free! had the lifespan that it did. three seasons and five movies (and then some) is nothing to scoff at and i'm thankful that kyoani nurtured this story for over 10 years

this is a psa: i love makoto tachibana so much !! he is the emotional anchor of the show, the eyes which we see so much of the story through. in so many ways he is a leader: the first to reconnect with rin in s1, the first to come to terms with his future with (or without) haru in s2. he is easily scared, and a bit gullible, and stops to pet the neighbourhood cats. he is endlessly patient. he is a little too giving. he is loving and he is so, so loved
