I generally don't find it useful to use personal feelings or experiences as basis for character analysis or commentary because there's a tendency to just Leave It At That ("Jakey does X because he's Y. I know because I'm Y and I do X too" ‾~‾ ) but just this once. Just this once. From a bailer about a bailer. It's so weird to me that some people don't like that Stolas didn't drop the L bomb on Blitz after giving him the crystal when that was one of his good calls in that mess of a conversation...... the way someone doing that with me would make me bolt out of there in .1 seconds (and the way Blitz did bolt out of there and nuke that bridge when someone else did say it to him), like I was relieved that he didn't do that. for Blitz!!! lol

I feel that in part it's because people mistake Stolas' inexperience and obliviousness for naivety, in the sense that yes he often doesn't think things through and is blind to how his actions affects others (in multiple ways), but when it comes to Blitz and feelings he'd been kind of slamming against a wall for a while (with the events of s2ep4 being a wonderful cherry on top), so like. Yes he had a script and a specific vision in mind, but to say that "he expected everything to go according his plans" or that he had no inkling that things could go wrong......... Is it not the point of Look My Way and the second half of When I see Him that he's both hopeful but also very much insecure and kind of dreading talking to Blitz

MCU Fic Prompt

I don’t know if anyone is like me, where they have an au idea in mind but HATE writing all the stuff that ties the fic into canon. Or, have an story idea but have no plot?

If you are, behold!

CHAPTER 1

The fic that will allow you to tie any fic you want into the MCU. It’s 4k words of Infinity War divergence. 

Bonus: you can attach your fic to this by making it inspired by. The more people who see it the more who can click on your inspired by story link. (I know it’s hard to find readers.) You can also stick your story with more info (rating, ship, etc) in the comments or reblog this w/ it. :D

Spoilers (is that a thing in this case?), rules and ideas under cut

Premise? Thor went for the head instead of the heart. Tony has to be alive and the stones have to be gathered because he is the only one who can snap them properly where the universe doesn’t unravel or blah blah blah. 

It’s Tony’s POV, FYI - I might be the only one who uses it-no one asked for this, after all-and I will be using it to make Tony happy. You don’t have to if you don’t want tho.

Ideas:

Loki is alive! That’s why Thor went for the head instead of the heart. (it’s even cut in a way that he could have been sent back instead of Bruce)

Tony screwed up during his snap and now the universe is in danger. But that’s ok! Everyone is alive to help. 

Adding a stone. There’s another part of the universe that was destroyed before and it’s why everything went off the rails so hard.

-It could become literally any au at that point. Dragons? His Dark Materials? Sentinel and Guide? Soulmates? Tony finds himself in that universe! Maybe he messed up and doesn’t remember anything. Who knows? Stones are finicky and now you only have to write a paragraph instead of a whole backstory!

Want an Avengers as a Family? You can have it, Tony won and they’re all alive. Want IronStrange? You can have it, maybe Pepper decides to bail when Tony gets back bc she hasn’t seen any reason for him to be so afraid and keep doing his stuff. Want (Iron)FrostStrange? Whelp, Stephen’s sling ring blew up and the alive Loki has come to fetch them. Want Stony? Well, they gotta deal with that accords mess even if everything went perfectly. How about StarQuill? Well, Gamora is dead (I’m sorry Gamora and Vision!) and who knows how long they’ll be in space?

Want a ship in a different au? Well, Tony pulled them w/ him in his search for the whatever stone or whatever.

2. Work you are most proud of (and why):

Maybe “but she doesn’t know who i am” because of the imagery of it.  When I first started writing seriously in high school my absolute favourite thing to do was write short descriptive passages and I’ve found it to be a strength of mine.  I still tend to look at things I’ve written with more of that as my favourites. 

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

That’s a difficult thing to answer since I tend to be very hard on myself, especially after things are posted.  A lot of my 1000 Reasons short fics I’ve wanted to go back and rework just because after the fact I wasn’t always happy with the full result even though I liked the fic as a whole.  

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

The way the yellow hued street lights illuminate the bricked exterior of buildings and the pavement in the dark of night looks the same no matter where you are in the world.  That’s what Louis was convinced of anyway.  Standing behind this bar after his shift, leaning against the textured wall near the dumpsters and smoking a cigarette, it could just as easily have been back home.  It looked the same.  It even felt the same.  The alleyway had the same deep jagged cracks running down the center, water pooling in the uneven sections of concrete from the light showers earlier in the evening, the slight stench of piss hanging in the air if the breeze kicks it up just right, the sour smell of garbage wafting up and spilling out of the dumpsters.  It was all part of the same scene, just a different location and Louis flawlessly transplanted right into it.

5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:

Okay so I had so many I could put.  But I’m going to put this one because not only did I laugh but I feel like it sums up a lot of things I try to write hahaha

“You navigated the possibly awkward waters of this prompt perfectly.”

and also  “I secretly hoped they would do it in their wolf forms too hehe” because they definitely totally were untill I bailed on posting that scene at the last minute hahahahahahaha

6. A time when writing was really, really hard:

Starting in August I spent over 50 hours in my car on various trips not counting the business trip to dallas... I was only home a day or two inbetween everything on top of work.  It was a really stressful and exhausting few months and very difficult to find the time but more importantly the motivation to write anything.  

7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:

I’m not sure that anything really surprised me this year.  I usually just let the characters go for it so I’ve been surprised many times but this year I think they did what I expected them too.  There were quite a few things that got unexpectantly dirty if that counts.  

8. How did you grow as a writer this year:

Many ways, I think. Taking my time which helped many aspects.  Usually I’d have an idea and push to get it out there so I’d either have very short works that could have been a lot more elaborate or a lot of unfinished WIP because I’d pushed to publish but then later in the plot wanted to go back and rework things but couldn’t.  It has been increasingly easier for me to get higher word counts on things as well.  But all of it really because of taking my time, making myself stew on ideas for days or weeks and a little  more planning than I’ve ever done before.  

9. How do you hope to grow next year:

I have two really big fics coming up next year that I plan to take my time editing and getting feedback on.  I have a hard time with having things beta’d because my immediate reaction is usually always to say fuck it and delete everything, negate the whole work when something wrong with it is pointed out.  Its a reaction that still comes at me from school when you had to “peer edit” and other kids would just tear down your work because they thought they had to find something wrong with it coupled with the kind of comments people used to write with the LJ community.  Neither of them healthy opinions to rely on.  So I plan on getting past that mentality

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

My group chat has been great! I’ve always been a lone wolf writer in this fandom so could never bounce ideas off anyone or listen to other’s struggles etc etc.  Its been a very nice change :) 

11. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:

A lot more than I’d eeeever be willing to admit to.  But mainly I’d say my “genderfluid harry” stories.  I’ve received a lot of rudely worded comments, long ass paragraph comments etc pointing out how I’ve mislabeled, mischaracterized, misrepresented, etc etc etc which have made me really uncomfortable about having posting them since Harry’s character is based on a real person who identifies themself as those things and all of that was taken into consideration when tagging and writing everything.  So that was the biggest thing from real life I’d say. 

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

Write for yourself and not what you think people want or how readers try to direct you to take it.  

13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

My Alex/Louis fic 100%.  I wrote it for nano and am very proud of it so far.  I’m looking forward to making it even better before it gets posted early next year.  And my other big project that I can’t talk about yet for the ABO exchange also coming up at the beginning of the year.

Fandom Roleplay (MxM / OCxOC)

About Me:

Hey there! I’m Leo. I’ve taken a half-year hiatus from 1x1 roleplaying (I’ve continued to work on group roleplays), but I am looking to get back into it. I’ve been writing on my own for as long as I can remember, and have been doing this roleplay thing for about 5-ish years or so. I study writing, so I like to think I have a decent grasp on the subject.

I’m looking for long term (I’m talking potentially months), and well planned. Both with the story-line and characters.   

I love to chat OOC and get to know my partner. I am not looking for anything beyond friends, though… heh. People have gotten confused on that before. But yeah, expect lots of chatter between the action.

In terms of my availability, it’s basically 24/7 these days. Something could come up, I suppose, but I would always let you know if I was going to be gone for an extended period of time.

I’m also not ‘ditch friendly’. I don’t get how people can be. I don’t want to put a bunch of effort into this only to have someone bail mid-way through. If you want to do this, please commit. But if you ARE going to leave, have the decency to inform me.

What I Expect From My Partner (I’m going to do this in bullet form so it’s easier to digest):

– You must be 18+. No exceptions, sorry.

– Be literate. I am going to provide a writing sample of mine farther down in the prompt. See if that is something you can match. If not, please don’t bother contacting me. I don’t think I am any better than anyone else, but people have different styles and expect different things. Just don’t waste time, both mine and yours. That being said, if you make an error here and there, I am not gonna start flipping tables. I make mistakes, too. I just ask that you know your stuff.

– Be able to write approximately 2 - 4 paragraphs per post. This will obviously differ depending on the situation (my starters are usually, like, a page long), but I am not settling for a single paragraph unless absolutely necessary.  

– I typically like writing with men when doing MxM roleplays. I have written with women who have played men before, and it’s always the same thing: meek, bashful little twink boy who, of course, is a bottom. Sorry, but it’s just not my cup of tea.

– So, going off the last point, I like to play against more masculine characters. They don’t need to be a 7-foot-tall bodybuilder who speaks like a caveman (character’s gotta have layers, yeah?), but… ya’know, masculine. A man. I also tend to play more masculine characters, as well. 

– Have to be free to write often. I am not saying we need to write a novel a day, but I would like, on average, more than one response a day. It’d be nice if there were periods of time where we are both free and can sit down and write.

– If you are going to be gone for a day or longer, please, please, please  inform me. You don’t need to give me some big reason as to why, but just tell me. I know real life happens, serious and not serious. Could be as mundane as you being gone for a weekend to visit friends, or as crucial as a death in the family. Regardless, just tell me, and all will be fine.

– Whichever Fandom you choose, please know it well. You don’t need to be a Wiki page yourself, but I mean, please know what you are talking about. If you get something wrong here or there, I am not gonna be mad about it, but I will correct it.

– Drive the story as much as me. I don’t want to be the only one pushing the story forward or coming up with ideas. It seems that I do that in almost every roleplay, and it gets tiring.

– Do not jump into romance. We’ll get there, I promise, but I value story and character development over romance.

How I Want This Roleplay To Play Out:

So, while I want to have this roleplay set in a pre-established world, I want us to each create our own original characters. We can talk about it prior (what we’re each looking for, etc…), but yeah. We would create an original plot, as well.

For where the roleplay would take place, I am thinking Google Docs. It’s the best way to keep everything in order so we can refer back to prior information when needed. If you have another idea, though, fire away. 

When It Comes To Romance / Smut:

I’m cool with it! I mean, I am an absolute sucker for a well timed and written romance. That being said, like I mentioned in the bullets above, I don’t want you rushing into it. We’ll make sure we get there, but I don’t want a partner who is just looking for a cheesy romantic fantasy. I like somewhat realistic and interesting dynamics between characters.  

Now, for smut. Again, like romance, I am cool with it! I don’t write it that often (mainly because I like to ease into that stuff and most people who say they want to build up to it are damn liars and it ruins the whole damn story). However, I can write it. In terms of ‘limits’, I suppose I am pretty vanilla. I mean, I am okay with some light bondage and what not, but nothing really beyond that. If you want to add something, though, ask me about it prior.
