What's the vampire lore for your muses?
I have some side characters that I introduced in the thread with @hitandrunduorp we get a little more lore than my usual 4 today uhu.
I’m also going to draw them at some point so we have a visual of them!
It’s pretty long so I’m going to put it under cut
Main Muses
Crys - Human Hunter
Crys and her sister are born half fae with their father a member of the Seelie court. Though the Seelie court are usually peaceful, they often don’t see half bloods highly and so after her mother passed away, she and Kat were essentially stolen by traders and the court barely did anything about it, thinking that she was better under human authority than the courts. Both of them were sold to an old vampire lord as a duo and spent a large amount of their teen years serving him. Having fae blood, they have almost an addicting effect when vampires feed off of them. The old lord seemed to have preferred her as she often put up less of a fight than Kat but only because she was weakened more from the previous feeding. Both she and Kat were able to escape and find safety in a hunter’s guild when they were 19 where both of them learned to protect themselves and how to hunt various monsters and other races. Though the secret of their heritage was revealed to the humans, they were disliked though not cast out - humans aren’t that cruel.
When they were 24, their bas was discovered by vampires and they were caught and separated. She then got put in an auction where she then was bought by a certain Vampire Lord.
Kat - Human Hunter turned Vampire
Kat was the stronger willed of the two. She often fought back against anyone who treated her badly but it also led her to have the belief to never take the path of least resistance. And so she had a lot more injuries from punishments when she was under the Old Lord’s servitude and more injuries. In the guild she was more of an aggressive fighter than Crys’s quick and precise fighter. Kat often provoked fights when someone said something about their heritage.
After their separation after being caught by vampires, she was sold to a crueller lord who forced her to turn and serve him - this way he had easier control over her rebellious nature through means of blood magic, lies and hypnosis which broke her spirit. Her natural strength and fae blood would create a stronger vampire. Since she’s been put through this, she has since lost most of her personality and is obedient to her master (though who know if a shock of seeing Crys alive and well might do)
Tom - Pureblood Vampire Noble
Tom is the pureblood heir of the title of Lord once his father Blake retires. Their district is one of the recreational districts with a large amount of Casinos, gambling dens, clubs and such. The Lord himself and Tom own Casinos in their district which leads to them being a very rich center of information. Tom himself is an intelligent and peaceful noble who likes to solve things diplomatically rather avoiding conflict if he can. However, should things get violent, he shows why he earned the respect he has through his superior control over Blood and Blood Magic. Picture Bloodbending in Avatar: The Last Airbender and you get the image of him holding back. If you seriously piss him off, his magic is strong enough to complete destroy a body from the inside out.
His district is facing a possible war with a neighbouring one and he is often in charge with peace negotiations with other generals along side Xavier while also being n charge with the defence of the border which leads to him being extremely busy with preventing the conflict from escalating.
Kaze - the Bloody Phoenix Vampire Lord
Kaze was a human warrior turned vampire 825 years ago from before the time of the eternal night. He was a well respected general who was kind and fair to his subordinates while also pushing them to do better. He fought in many wars with both wins and losses. At this point in time, Vampires were mainly a legend or a scary story told at night but one day, one of the oldest Vampire lords in existence had an eye on him. Kaze was captured and forced to be turned into a vampire by the vampire lord who worked along side an enchantress called Monica. Forced to be obedient , he fought in many wars against the humans that he once fought along side with Monica granting him strength and power to quash his enemies. But Monica was slowly poisoning his mind and planting a curse on him which leads to him entering a blood thirsty rage that slaughters everyone in front of him regardless of friend or foe. Only Monica could stop his bloodrages with her magic and she essentially took over control over both him and the Vampire Lord. But eventually after a century, the curse got the better of him during a slaughter of humans and he wasn’t able to compose himself before returning to the Lord’s home. The Vampire Lord was slain by his own creation. He then set his eyes on Monica who at this point had spread the curse to many other vampires in the area.
Out of everyone who was affected by the curse, Kaze was the only one who was able to get control of himself and return to normal. soon enough he found himself earning the title of Bloody Phoenix - given to him as no matter how much he had been beaten, he would not die and return with a fiery vengeance. As the slayer of a former lord, he took up the position and earned the respect of the district not only through his power but also through his diplomacy and wit. Though, those who have faced him in combat see the shifting of ink under his skin. Runic tattoos over his chest and back often help keep him under control as well as enhance his strength. However, these are known to burn a lot of blood, giving him the greater risk of going into a blood rage should he maintain prolonged battle. He’s known to be calm and rarely angered. Though should you infuriate him, your days will be numbered.
Other Characters
Xavier - The Hypnotic Vampire Noble
Xavier is Blake’s husband and Tom’s stepfather. Calm and collected, he is often a messenger for Blake and Tom often going to many meeting in their stead. His past a mystery, he is known for his incredible ability to win wars and conflicts with nothing but his voice, wit and charisma. He is talented in his power over the mind - often seen as the best in Blake’s district. His hypnotic ability is often impossible to resist or break through and he often uses subtle influences to maintain a calm atmosphere without letting the other know of his influence. His physical strength is not all too high but his speed makes up for it should he ever need to fight but even the most mindless creatures or vampires lost to the craze of a bloodrage cannot resist the soothing words of Xavier.
Draven - The Tyrant Lord
Tom’s neighbouring district is nothing but trouble - especially in the recent century. Draven rules the district with an iron fist were everyone has a place and everyone must stay in their place unless they have his explicit permission. His craving for power only grows each day as he pushes to invade Blakes district and eventually the other vampire districts. However, he is smart and sees to play this in the long term, hatching a scheme where he is sure to rise on top whent he time comes. But only when the time comes.
Maybe more characters to come? Who knows at this point I have so many.

For the sake of my future, I am leaving Tumblr.
I haven’t been very active on here, and I know I haven’t been particularly talkative either, but I’m making this post to let people know that I’m going. I may delete this blog in the future, but I’m keeping everything for now.
There is a long list of reasons why I’m doing this, but if you don’t want to read the entire post then the long story short version is: My life is a dumpster fire that will not change for the better unless I devote as much of my free time as possible into improving my craft so I can make a living through my art/writing.
Full details under the cut.
I’ve been planning on making this post for a while, but I didn’t want to abandon this account forever because despite not being as active on here as I used to be in the past, I’m still emotionally attached to my account and still wanted to use Tumblr as a means of entertainment when I wasn’t working. And I knew that if I made this post, I’d have to commit to staying away and I wanted to avoid that. But two things happened last Sunday that acted as a major wake up call for me.
1) There was a false alarm at a power plant not too far away from where I live. I don’t live in the same city as the power plant, but I live in what would be the danger zone should the power plant have a melt down. The false alarm for the power plant was issued in the morning. I don’t have a cell phone, but my sister (who I share a room with) does and received the alert for the “meltdown”. Since it woke her up, she was tired and accidentally exited the alert without reading it first. She then went back to sleep.
Now I don’t blame my sister for doing this. Hell, I probably would’ve done the same thing in her shoes. My issue lies in the fact that, had there been an actual emergency, I would’ve a) slept through it or b) had no reliable way of getting out of the city. I can’t drive, never learned how, so I couldn’t have driven myself to safety if my mom had decided not to leave the house (I know what you’re thinking; “why wouldn’t she leave the house?” and honestly she most likely would’ve left the city, but my mom has made enough stupid decisions throughout her life that her staying home isn’t outside the realm of possibility for me to believe).
Even though I know it was a false alarm, it’s still scary to think about how I could’ve died- or at least gotten very sick- had it been a real meltdown. I hate living in this city and I want to move, but I don’t have the means to do so at the moment.
2) My stepfather. For those who don’t know, my mom married a man she only knew for a few months and he is a horrible human being. He has threatened to kill me and my mom in the past, has been arrested multiple times since arriving to Canada (late last year he was arrested for possession of heroin), and is altogether an unpleasant and annoying man to be around.
So last Sunday night, I was doing the dishes when I heard a knock at the door. It was my stepfather, who had left the house for whatever reason and had returned. However, as I neared the door, I noticed that it was unlocked. He could’ve let himself in, but for whatever reason he was still knocking. I suddenly got it in my head that he wanted me to open the door so he could yank me outside without having to drag me through the house first.
I know that sounds paranoid, but the man is disturbed. I don’t think I’ve gone a week without at least worrying once that I was going to come home to my stepfather having murdered everyone else in the house while I was out. Added to the fact that he and I really hate each other and I was the one to call the police on him two times, and I think you could forgive me for thinking that he might try to hurt me if given the chance.
Despite my fears, I still opened the door for my stepfather. He didn’t attack me. He just went back inside and did whatever it was that he did. But even though nothing happened to me, I was still wound up for about five minutes and it felt like all the nerves in my body (especially my arms) were somehow taut and weak at the same time.
Aside from my sister, who is my only bright spot in this house, I don’t want to live with or have anything to do with this family anymore. I would’ve left years ago if I could. But again, I don’t have the means to do so at the moment.
This is why I’m leaving Tumblr.
I know that it’s super hard and almost impossible to make a decent living off the arts. I know I could try and try for the next decade and still not get anywhere I want to be. But I need to try, because I’m tired of my life being the way it is right now and I’m scared that things will never get better if I’m too passive.
I currently work at Walmart. I’m on my feet during the majority of my shift and my legs and knees hurt so bad I think I might be doing long lasting (but hopefully not permanent) damage to them. I work evenings, so I only have mornings and the weekends to get my art and writing done, but I’m so tired that my artistic productivity tends to drop off after Monday morning.
It’s too easy to spend my mornings and weekends procrastinating. It’s too easy for my life to turn into sleep>eat>Walmart>sleep>eat>Walmart until the day I die. The fact that it’d be so easy for me to be an old woman and still be at a similar stage in my life, even if I work my ass off trying to get my art/writing career going, fills me with so much existential dread I can hardly stand it.
But I’m tired of being so poor I could only visit my biological dad once while he was in the hospital for cancer. I’m tired of living with student loans that never seem to end. I’m tired of working at a job that demands so much of my time and energy. I’m tired of living in an area where people keep getting murdered in a less than a ten minute walk from my house. I’m tired of being afraid that I’ll come home from work and see police outside my house and body bags being taken into an ambulance. So I have to try, even if my chances of success are low.
I know I chose a bad career path for someone who wants to be financially comfortable. “Starving artist” is a stereotype that exists for a reason. But aside from it being my passion, I know I’m not good enough at anything else to make a proper living doing anything else. If I can’t make my dreams a reality, I’ll just be stuck in retail for the rest of my life, and I would honestly rather die than live like that. And I don’t want to die. Despite my anxiety and depression issues, despite the fact that I sometimes struggle with suicidal idealization, I don’t want to die. I just want my life to get better.
So when I say I’m leaving Tumblr, I don’t mean I’m just leaving Tumblr. I mean I’ll be using the internet as a whole for mainly a research/resource tool for my art and writing. Which means I’ll be spending very little time for leisure on the internet. It also means I won’t be socializing much anymore, which sucks because I like having internet friends (even though I’m bad at keeping in touch) but if I want my dreams to come true, I can’t be distracted by anything, even other people. From this point onward, I’ll essentially be working (almost) nonstop, only taking enough breaks so my brain doesn’t melt from the stress.
I know this is all very extreme, but I really haven’t fully expressed how absolutely desperate I am for my life to stop being so horrible. Maybe if I grind hard enough, things will be okay someday.
If you made it this far, thank you. And I’m sorry if I ever did anything to make you uncomfortable or hurt you in any way.
Goodbye everybody.

I finally got this done. Now I can move on.
Bruhs I guess this technically has been, like, a month, huh? Fuck.
Well, I know for most of you following me, this won’t be very relevant, but because I got into MK, I had to make two OCs. It took me a long ass time to make the references, because I wanted to have decent enough shading/coloring. I often spend a lot longer on the 1st drawing of a character, because I’ll be designing the character as I go along, and it’s all about planning out and making an idea into a actual image, which is why I often add a lot of detail, because it’s another thing that’s part of me thinking out and processing what I want the smaller details of a character to be like.
Well... I hope you can get some enjoyment outta this friggin’ mess. Lol, now proceed to watch me never draw or use these characters again. Jk Jk... probably.
Adding the text details and backstory garbage under the “read more”.
Naknada OC, “Strayer” also known as “Mama”:
Personality: Difficulty trusting others, solitary, critical, resentful towards greed, resentful towards Outworld, respects the shaolin, soft spot for children and young adults, surprisingly caring.
Fighting style: She doesn’t like opponents to get within stabbing or grabbing distance, that’s probably why she gravitated towards using a halberd, which has some reach to it, as well as a whip, which can be used to snag or snap at foes. Knives always have their uses, so she carries those as well. Due to being self-preservative, she would rather avoid dangerous situations, but she’s no coward, and will fight tooth and nail if she has to.
Overview: Strayer is a female naknada who was originally a slave in Outworld. She once had a son, and though being slaves is obviously a rough life, Strayer wasn’t willing to attempt an escape or something of that sort in fear of the punishments she or her son could face. Her son was quicker to break obedience, and became extremely defiant, as well as being a troublemaker, which ultimately caused him to get killed. Distraught, and deciding she had nothing left to lose, Strayer lost much of the fear that kept her in line, and decided she was going to leave her slave life one way or another, even if it was death. She managed to escape, and, figuring she was pretty much done with Outworld altogether, decided she’d be better off if she fled to Earthrealm. Not that she expected to meld with human groups or anything, far from it, it was more of a matter of her believing Earthrealm would be an easier place for her to be safe in. Before she did move to Earthrealm, she spent a while gathering and stealing supplies, some of which included items with magic properties, so that when she left Outworld to be a loner she would feel at least a bit more prepared.
It had only been in earthrealm a matter of days before Strayer encountered Kitty, who was only around 6 years old at the time. Strayer’s reaction to Kitty was perhaps comparable to how humans react to finding orphaned baby animals (in fact, based off of this and Kitty’s name, Strayer sometimes refers to Kitty as “kitten”). Other species babies are always cuter after all. It wouldn’t be hard to argue that as a naknada, Strayer’s decision to take in Kitty could have been motivated by greed, but she would have helped Kitty regardless, she is far from heartless and if she acts selfish, it is likely from self preservation and survival, not greed. After all, Strayer was once a mother, she doesn’t want to see children getting hurt, and wasn’t willing to assume that the next person who might stumble across Kitty would be benevolent.
Strayer would have returned Kitty to her family, but upon inquiring to the young girl about the circumstances of her situation, Kitty confirmed that she didn’t really have anyone she could turn to (or at least, that’s what she thought. Jun Shi had a lot of recovery to do, and was a lot more of a brotherly than fatherly figure, but he would have attempted to watch over her). With that, Strayer basically adopted Kitty right then and there. She isn’t an outwardly affectionate type, but got attached to her new weird daughter very quickly. At first, she attempted to discourage Kitty from calling her “Mama”, but when she got used to it, she simply accepted it as another name.
Mama now takes her protective role pretty seriously. Sure, there is technically some selfishness in how she is overprotective of Kitty, sometimes it may be difficult to decide if some of her behaviors are protective or possessive, but ultimately she cares a lot about Kitty, and does make efforts to keep her happy. She does feel some guilt around the fact that due to their lifestyle, and often strict rules, contributes to Kitty often feeling lonely from being largely isolated from other people, but Strayer tries to do whatever she feels is best for both of them. She is distrusting towards the world (er… worlds), having had come from such a rough background, and does not believe she can rely on others to help or protect her.
Knowing that there very well could be a time when she cannot keep Kitty safe herself, Mama Strayer at one point made the decision to move to and stay around the Henan province. Strayer isn’t exactly someone who socializes easily, so she doesn’t like to get “too” close to where the shaolin monks are… but she actually has a bit of a soft spot for them, considering them a trustworthy group of people. Strayer has instructed Kitty that if a dire situation should arise, she should flee to the shaolin.
Human/earthrealmer OC, “Kitty”, also known as “Kit”, “Kitten”, and “Gilder”:
Personality: Open, friendly, fearful of loss, fearful of electricity and deep water, lonely, blunt, well-meaning, innocent and a little naive but not entirely dumb, can be goofy and flirty, dislikes blatantly selfish people.
Fighting style: She uses her gold magic to smash, pound, burn, melt, and jab her opponents. She’ll throw whatever she’s got. Opponents within close proximity had best watch out for her molten metal vomit, she can spew it at will. She has a habit of going all-out, but over time will tire, which will leave her with more vulnerable openings to be countered by an opponent who has high endurance or evasive skills.
Overview: Kitty Gow Gilder was originally born in Scotland. Her mother (Maisie Gilder) also had magic to manipulate metal, but didn’t produce gold. However, it’s safe to assume that Kitty most likely inherited the gold trait from somewhere in her family line. Her parents weren’t fighters, instead opting to use metal magic to assist in their metal smithing/crafting. Kitty’s father (Gavin Gow) passed away when she was a toddler, and her mother remarried a few years later. The stepfather was Chinese (Cheng Li), and, seeing the idea of moving to a new region as a good way to have a new start, Kitty’s family moved to China, and took up residence in a modest village, where Kitty’s mother continued metalworking, and Kitty’s stepfather made elixirs with all sorts of uses, as well as overseeing the growth of two pupils. The stepfather didn’t have any children of his own, and was perfectly happy to see his stepdaughter and pupils as his children.
Kitty’s young childhood was stable and decent for a few more years, but when she was six, both her mother and stepfather died via a betrayal from one of the stepfather’s pupils (Qi Fan), who attempted to frame the other pupil (Jun Shi) so he could succeed their master. Kitty’s mother got sick, which wasn’t all serious, but Jun Shi wanted to make her feel better anyway so made an elixir to do just that, however, Qi Fan poisoned it, resulting in Maisie dying. But things didn’t really go as planned, and Kitty’s stepfather and Jun Shi figured out that something was up… so, long story short-ish, “shit went down” at Kitty’s family’s house, and during the skirmish Cheng Li was killed. Kitty was present for the event, and was beyond a state of panic and confusion. She hardly knew how to use her magic yet, but the surge of adrenaline and fear caused her to projectile vomit a large amount of molten metal, which nearly killed Qi Fan, but he survived, and was driven away to flee in agony. Jun Shi has been terribly injured by Qi Fan, and though he did survive after his fellow villagers came to his aid, he had fallen unconscious, to Kitty appearing dead, and she didn’t stay around long enough to see him be safe.
Confused, disoriented, and so frightened she hardly understood what was going on or what to do, she fled from her house and into the forest outside of the village, and subsequently wandered aimlessly, and became lost. Though, she did not believe she had anyone to turn to regardless.
She found aid from an unlikely source when she crossed paths with Strayer by accident. Both were pretty surprised at each other, but considering how scary a naknada look to some children, Kitty wasn’t startled at all. Due to the fresh trauma, it took her time to climb out of a shocked, exhausted, and frightened shell that had left her struggling to even think or speak straight, but her condition improved dramatically after Strayer took her into her tent, fed her, and allowed her a safe place to have a hard sleep.
Kitty struggled with stress and grief early on in Strayer’s care, by no fault of Strayer of course, she was troubled from what she had to go through. Over time, she found happiness again as she and Strayer became comfortable around one another, and slowly developed their own type of family. The first times Kitty referred to Strayer as “Mama” were actually accidental, the same way a kid might slip up and call a teacher “mom”, but after a few years Kitty started saying it in earnest.
Her life wasn’t perfect, but Kitty settled into her new existence pretty well. She and Mama Strayer took care of one another, and lived in their own sense of “normal”. Having a good deal of spare time on her hands, Kitty spent hours a day self-educating herself on how to use her gold magic through experience. She never received much in terms of formal training to fight besides whatever advice and guidance Mama could offer, but she gained enough self control to which she could fight and hold her own. Since she has reached adulthood, Strayer has allowed Kitty to have a little more independence, though she is strongly discouraged from being overly friendly towards strangers. She is especially discouraged from flirting… yeah, no bringing dudes home to the tent or staying overnight anywhere. Kitty complies with most of Mama’s rules, with the understanding that Mama has a lot more life experience, and has never really done anything to her that would give her a reason to distrust her, so she tries to keep a good level of self-awareness with her actions. Despite not being able to know a lot of people, Kitty still wants to be friendly, so does this by secretly giving people gifts, often gold, or made of gold. She has a want to be helpful and kind, or to at least make people happy, even if she doesn’t get to see it all the time. Like Mama Strayer. She has a strong dislike for greed, if someone was to hound her for gold, namely if that person doesn’t need it, she may possibly respond with violence. If someone in need comes to her out of desperation, she will likely not respond with aggression, but demand that if she grants the person the gold they ask for, that they do not speak of it or her.
Item guide.
1 and 2- Bags
Strayer/Mama and Kitty each have their own bag they use to carry useful items in. While the bags' space is not infinite, they bear a magic property that allows them to carry a lot more than they look like they should. Strayer/Mama is not above stealing items she feels like she needs to. After meeting Kitty, her need to steal in order to get by decreased significantly, since the two can use gold to trade for pretty much whatever necessities they need. Though, ol' Mama Strayer still maintains a certain level of social avoidance. Despite the often distrusting naknada being overprotective towards Kitty, as an earthrealmer if the two gotta speak with earthrealmers, Kitty naturally has the home field (and resting friendly-face) advantage, and Strayer accepts that being glued to Kitty 100% of the time may do more damage than good. The two only part ways for short periods of time when they do, and remain within a reasonable distance. They're rather nomadic, as well as preferring to keep a low profile. Kitty often feels lonely and isolated, due to the lack of people she actually gets to be friendly towards.
3- Peanut butter and honey
Kitty has a fondness for honey and peanut butter. When Kit was younger, Mama would let her have a spoonful here and there as a treat for good behavior.
4- Some whistles
A whistle is a good item to have if you need to get someone’s attention in a pinch. Sometimes it’s easier than yelling, and Strayer and Kitty don’t want an avoidable accident killing or badly hurting either of them, so they usually each bring a whistle with them if they have to be out of eyesight of each other, so that if one gets hurt, the other can rush to help.
5- “eyebaubles”
A pair of magic trinkets. Two people each carrying one can see what the other is doing, or at least get an idea, because one eye shows what’s in eyesight of the other, and vice versa.
6- Tenthouse
The set up tent that Strayer and Kitty use as a house a good deal of the time. Like the bags, it is bigger on the inside than the outside. Strayer doesn’t bother collecting tons of items she does not consider useful, but she has collected some wall hangings to make the makeshift house more customized and homey. The tent cannot be taken down while there are sentient beings occupying it. Otherwise, when the tent needs to be moved, it will disappear when the anchoring spikes are removed. To set up the tent, someone simply needs to get one spike in the ground, and the other three will move to the appropriate placement on their own.
7- Purification flask
A container with magic properties. It purifies water to a crystal clear high quality. Water filtered in this flask may assist in keeping wounds safe from infection if poured on, or soaked into the wound.
8- Sewing and knitting
Both Mama Strayer and Kitty know how to sew and knit, though Mama is better at it.
9 and 10- Bouncey ball, and Kitty’s doodlepad and crayons
Strayer wasn’t always obvious about gestures of affection towards Kitty, but one thing she did regular give Kitty as a child were toy balls with a good bounce (because Kitty liked seeing how high she could launch them), and basic drawing supplies. Though grown up, Kitty still enjoys making drawings with crayons.
11- Gold objects
While a lot of the gold Kitty produces comes in the form of molten metal and chunky nuggets, she is able to manipulate her gold with a decent level of skill. She likes making little figurines of people and animals, and she can also mimic/print her own coins. Though she does not get to socialize a ton, sometimes she’ll sneak little gifts to people in the form of objects she has made, or non-specific shaped gold if she is not carrying a region’s usual currency and feels like someone deserves a bit of money. Strayer has mixed feelings about Kitty secretly gifting people, because she likes that Kitty is good hearted, but is concerned that Kitty may draw unwanted attention to herself if she isn’t careful.
12- Kitty’s gold magic
Kitty is by no means a violent person, and she does not look particularly threatening either. However, over the years she has figured out and honed her magic pretty well, and if she ever needed to defend herself from an attacker, she’s far from completely helpless. Gold, being a heavy but soft metal, is not the best metal to make stabby things with, but because she can mix in an alloy of other metals, she can harden her gold up enough where she could make a good jabbin’ spike. She is better at simply forming big chunks of heavy gold and battering foes with it, because she can lift her gold with a good deal of ease even if she couldn’t lift another object of the same weight. One of her more nasty offensive moves would be related to her magic also being able to manipulate molten gold. She can spew large amounts of the hot melted material from her mouth, and will willingly projectile vomit on someone she deems as being too much of a threat. She will “clean up” after herself and cause gold to break down and poof into dust, which could be needed if she had to hide any evidence of her having been somewhere. She doesn’t typically wear footwear, since keeping metal on her feet acts as a makeshift shoe via being harder than skin.
Kitty’s hands, feet, mouth, and insides can heat up. She is more temperature resistant than an unprotected average human, but extreme temperatures aside from her own can pose a threat to her without much trouble. She has a fear of lightning and electricity, because she is naturally a strong conductor.

In the span of three weeks Mayla Blunstone traveled to various places around the world alongside a former evil princess living on borrowed time. From fighting dragons to jumping trains, to skydiving and landing in old wells to breaking out of space jail, it was a hell of a lot better than sitting through summer school.
Princess Evie of the Fallen Spheres was one of the few remaining members of Dead Alley’s prestigious royal family. She and her friends Cammie, Skip, and Rusty were known as the Dusk Crew, prominent troublemakers at the Alley. Six years ago Evie and her friends were allowed access to the neighboring land Isle of Enchantments for an opportunity for a better life. Out of the four, Evie quickly grew to enjoy life in the Isle while Cammie, her best friend and leader of the gang, struggled the most.
And then it all went downhill when Pandora of the powerful Agrona vampires attacked the Isle, killing several including the King and Queen. Pandora escape and Dead Alley was once again sealed off, leaving Evie and her friends stranded on the Isle. Although they were cleared of any involvement in the attack, Evie couldn’t help but feel somewhat responsible, much like she did at the Alley when she sat and watched her parents take advantage of others. She was always the most disillusioned of the gang, always questioning things and seeing them in ways no one else can.
A year and a half later, life as she knew it was over. Cammie, torn between two worlds, her old life and a new life alongside a prince from a neighboring kingdom, fled the Isle and returned to the Alley. Evie and the others tried to convince her to come back but Cammie made up her mind. Defeated, Evie, Skip, and Rusty walked out of Cammie’s pad for the last time. As soon as they stepped out, they were cornered by their old nemesis Poseidon, who challenged Cammie to a duel on his ship. For the last time the Dusk Crew got together to fight against the Tsunami Gang. The battle ended in a draw, killing everyone on board when Cammie and Poseidon caused an explosion that blew the ship into the middle of the ocean. Using the last of her powers, Cammie managed to partially resurrect Evie, who was part immortal on her mother’s side. But since the spell was incomplete, it won’t be long until death comes for Evie. Until then, she has nothing to do but keep moving on.
Fast forward four years later in a boarding school somewhere in the middle of a giant city. There was Mayla Blunstone, stuck spending her summer at school instead of being at home with her twin sister Charlotte in Forest Pines Island. She and her sister hated the school mainly because of the people there but because the academics were great, it wasn’t easy to get into. The twins knew that their parents wanted to provide them with the very best but sometimes it feels like that’s all they do. Usually summer school would be somewhat bearable with Charlotte there but since she got expelled for her escapade during spring break earlier that year, Mayla was on her own.
Then on one cloudy June day Mayla and Evie’s paths crossed. Having enough of prep school life, Mayla took advantage of the much needed three day weekend and took a train as far as she could afford. The three hour train ride took her to the city of Aventurine and she headed to a motel a few blocks away from the station. At the front desk it was revealed that the place was overbooked and there were some mix ups with the rooms, resulting in Mayla and Evie getting the same room. Since there were two beds and plenty of space for two people who plan to go out for most of their stay, they decided to be roommates.
If it wasn’t for the new rooming situation, Mayla would have spent the weekend at the motel binge-watching shows or wander around town. As for Evie, she only came to Aventurine for some unfinished business and maybe hang around if she didn’t get kicked out for whatever reason. For some reason, Evie seemed to have taken interest in Mayla, especially after she noticed the Blunstone crest on Mayla’s school uniform jacket. That sparked a conversation between the two, where Evie revealed that her stepfather was a distant relative of the Blunstones. From there Evie decided to invite Mayla to tag along and help her retrieve the Embers of Citrine, an old spell book believed to have been lost for centuries, from a pawn shop before it fell into the wrong hands. Problem was, the owner happens to be an enemy of Evie’s mother and also the right hand man of another nemesis. So Evie needed to find a way to get the book without him or anyone knowing since as far as she knows, they’re unaware that it has fallen into their possessions. After getting the book she plans to drop by the Isle to give to her stepsister, the only person who Evie really keeps in contact with, who will lock it in a vault at the museum. Mayla, dying for adventure, jumped at the chance to break away from monotony.
That afternoon, a disguised Mayla sauntered into Gadgets and Gizmos, posing as a historian looking to expand her collection of extremely rare books. Being the master of disguise, mainly due to her and Charlotte pulling switch-a-roos once in a while, Mayla played the role perfectly. She managed to look into the inventory, where she spotted the Embers of Citrine in a crate of old books and scrolls. After arguing it over with the owner, he agreed to let Mayla come back the next day to negotiate prices for the crate. Mayla left the store feeling euphoric and rebellious. Impressed, Evie celebrated with dinner and a trip to Aventurine’s abandoned mines for a treasure hunt. Mayla hit the jackpot when she found a small sack of gold coins worth about $2 million, which she and Evie split up.
The next day, Mayla made a dramatic entrance into Gadgets and Gizmos, ready to negotiate. Evie hid in the shadows, anticipating a fight. Just as she predicted, the owner wanted to battle things out before giving up the crate. The second he pulled out his mini-cannon, Mayla gave a hand signal and Evie came bursting through the roof. Even in her weakening state, Evie put up a hell of a fight, forcing the owner to make a fool of himself in front of his gang. After retrieving the Embers, Evie didn’t have much of a reason to stick around, not with the Gadgets and Gizmos gang out for her, so she packed her bags. Not wanting the fun to end so soon, Mayla offered to be her personal assistant. Considering that it’ll take a while for Evie to get to the Isle to drop off the book, she decided that it wouldn’t hurt to have some extra help if something were to happen to her. While Evie was reluctant, she had to admit that having Mayla around was fun and that she almost forgot what it’s like to have a partner in crime. Maybe with a friend to tag along, Evie could get her mind off certain things, tat is if time would allow her to.
So on Sunday Evie and Mayla embarked on a long train ride to the Isle of Enchantments, where they ran into quite a bit of trouble. Since there was no direct train to the Isle from Aventurine, the two had to change trains several times, which cost a lot of time. What was supposed to take about a day ended up taking nearly three because of bad weather in the mountains. So to speed things up, Evie decided to hop on the next train, as in literally jump on them. As long as they didn’t get caught, it would be fine. Mayla was a bit scared at first but soon adrenaline took over and she felt like she was flying. In the middle of train hopping were the food fights in the cafe, often instigated by Evie’s pranks. Every time Evie would do something like move a napkin dispenser slightly to the left or mix up someone’s order, which will lead to a customer complaining which then escalates to a battle. Meanwhile the two would hide in the background, joining in occasionally until someone comes in to deescalate the fight, which is when they would escape to the next train. In those three days, it was like Mayla and Evie knew each other forever.
Finally they arrived at the Isle, where they met Evie’s stepsister Aurora. On the way to Aurora’s cottage Mayla noticed that Evie was limping and clutching on to her side. Her suspicions grew when she heard the sisters arguing in the middle of the night. She couldn’t help but listen in even though she knew it wasn’t her place. Evie caught on and decided that there was no point in hiding anything. So Evie told Mayla about the battle between the Tsunami Gang and the Dusk Crew and Cammie’s spell that’s keeping her alive. Along with that, Evie also revealed under her jacket a stake that impaled her chest. In the past few weeks her condition had started deteriorating quicker than she anticipated, the stake turning rusty and its sharp coils digging into her. Evie guessed that part of the reason why she liked Mayla was because she reminded her of Cammie. With time running out, she wanted to go out with a bang, preferably with someone by her side, that is if Mayla didn’t mind.
The next three weeks were a wild ride for Mayla as she accompanied Evie on many dangerous adventures. From flying a plane for the first time to skydiving off it when it caught fire and landing in an old well full of death traps that Mayla barely escaped from, no one would believe her at all if she told them. After that Mayla and Evie signed on to a dragon fight tournament where they won last place. Maybe wearing her school jacket to the competition wasn’t the best idea but at least only the sleeves were burnt off. Then there was dimension hopping, which was scary and disorienting but also exhilarating. But from there things started to take a turn for Evie as she deteriorated further and was unable to fight like she used to.
For the second half of the adventure, while it was still on the exciting side, it wasn’t as physically demanding, which Mayla didn’t mind at all. As the month drew to an end, Evie wanted to take Mayla somewhere special. What she didn’t expect was Cammie’s enemies using the abandoned garage as their new hangout. Using an old spaceship, Evie and Mayla managed to escape their grasp. While the fight took a lot out of her, Evie was fueled by adrenaline as she took the battle to space. Unfortunately the fight ended in a draw when authorities seized their ships and arrested everyone for causing a lot of commotion and damage to nearby ships. Until Aurora can arrive to bail them out, the two spent a night in space jail, where they taunted their opponents.
The next morning Aurora arrived with a plan to sneak the two out of jail. Just as they were about to leave, some on the enemies managed to break out and engaged in battle to finish things out. Although the odds looked bad for Evie, Mayla, and Aurora as it was three versus five, they won by a hair. While the guards escorted the enemies to a more secure cell, one of them threw an explosive, damaging the police station and allowed for a few prisoners to escape. Mayla was nearly hit by a beam on the ceiling, Aurora barely escaping a fallen bookshelf, and Evie was buried under fallen ceiling tiles. Evie refused to leave until she found her golden amulet, a present from Cammie and the only thing she ever held on to after losing everything that meant something to her. Mayla and Aurora noticed how difficult it was for Evie to walk but for her sake didn’t comment about it. After spending a night recovering at Aurora’s cottage, Evie escorted Mayla back to her school. It was supposed to be a quick goodbye but Evie found it hard to bid her friend farewell. Mayla felt the same way. So after a lengthy goodbye, they went their separate ways.
Just like her sister’s escapade, Mayla’s unexpected trip got her expelled, which didn’t phase her at all. Long after that, Mayla never forgot about Evie and the good times they had together. Like Charlotte, Mayla kept most of her adventure to herself. As much as she would have liked to stay, she knew that her path will never cross with Evie’s again. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to fantasize about new adventures they could have together.
Two months later Mayla received a package with Evie’s golden amulet inside.

Arguments are an integral part of life. They make us human. However, sometimes, lines can be crossed. Screaming matches or brawls just happen, especially when alcohol or drugs are involved. If you’re lucky, nobody’s hurt. However, that’s usually not the case. Law enforcement and jail time become realities, and the person you love the most can be seriously hurt. It’s just a scary situation. Thankfully, when you’re embroiled in a spat, you’re only going so far with your quarrel. While you’ll probably apologize the next day for stupid things said, at least you and your friend can make amends. Other people aren’t as lucky, though. Even the dumbest fights can end in horrific catastrophes. From a bag of chips to a can of beer, people have actually fought to death for certain items. Obviously, the outcome is never good. Nobody ever thinks about losing his/her life at the hands of someone else, but the crime happens all of the time. Not only are people getting murdered (one person is reportedly killed every 60 seconds), but they’re dying in vain, quite literally. Their loved ones are left lost, and their deaths can be confusing even for police to understand. Why would a person kill for a $2.00 beer from a gas station, and why would a person kill for a $1.50 Diet Coke? Police are baffled. So are the families and friends of the victims, not to mention the rest of the world. Murder is horrible, but it’s even more so when victims have died for literally nothing.
#1 Transphobia On Deck Unfortunately, the LGBTQIA+ community is at risk every day. They face ungodly realities of violence and, for the transgender community, said violence is common. While nobody should be hurt over their sexuality, identity, nor appearance, the crimes happen all of the time. Unfortunately, even their loved ones are in danger. According to a History and Headlines article, a soldier was brutally beaten to death. Why? He was in love with “a transgender showgirl.” He was constantly harassed, but one soldier took his hatred too far. He ended up killing him in 1999 only because of his insecurity and heterosexism.
#2 A Facebook Friend Gone Wrong Your Facebook friends, for the most part, would be like your acquaintances in real life. Maybe you met them briefly in class, or maybe you talked to them at a party. Regardless of the reason why, they’re now able to see your Facebook feed. However, what would happen if you unfriended those individuals? You’d think nothing. Well, couple Billie and Billy unfriended Jenelle Potter from their own account, and they got much more than radio silence. Potter instead asked for help from her father and brother. She wanted them to kill the couple, and they actually did. They shot Billie and Billy dead.
#3 This Story Stinks Farting in public is embarrassing, but did you know that it’s also dangerous? In 2012, a 16-year-old girl named Shaakira Dorsey got into a fight with another girl from her neighborhood. They were enmeshed in an intense battle because of a fart. According to an online source, “Dorsey made fun of the girl for farting,” so the girl beat her to death. Their altercation, unfortunately, was unlike any other. Dorsey lost her life, and people can say that they were witnesses to such a tragedy. Not only were children and grownups watching, but her own stepfather watched too. The entire situation just smells rotten.
#4 The Other Kennedy Assassination Everybody knows about John F. Kennedy’s assassination, but not everybody knows about his brother’s assassination. On June 6, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy was killed by Sirhan Sirhan, a Jordanian man who worked in the United States as a farmhand. While he didn’t kill Kennedy over chips or a channel, his reasoning was still equally messed up. His motive was purely political. The Christian was upset that Kennedy supported Israel, so he shot the politician. While his move was disturbing, it was also shocking. After all, Christians are usually supportive of an area like Israel, so Sirhan’s dumb decision made him look like even more of a dunce. What a shame!
#5 The Tip Jar’s Not Complementary Remember that you can’t steal money from a tip jar. The $5.39 is just not worth losing your life. However, people will still try to get away with their less-than-stealthy stealing skills. Just look at Texan Benito Pantoja. He was only 24 years old when he was fatally shot. Apparently, he tried to steal money from a food truck, which only left him with a bullet to his back. “The owner of Tacos Del Indio, parked near the Ship Channel, ran him down as he tried to escape with the cash, fired into the getaway car and hit Pantoja in the back,” an article states. The thief literally lost his life over $20 in stolen tip money. Who knew taco pop-up shops could be so ruthless?
#6 A Junk Food Junkie People do crazy things when they’re high, especially when they’re on a sugar high. A man named Dan White left his white-collar career, but not by choice. He was replaced by Harvey Milk, which led White down a destructive path. He eventually shot and killed Milk and San Francisco’s Mayor, George Moscone. Instead of mental illness, White blamed his actions on his diet. “White used the excuse that his judgment and thinking were adversely affected by junk food, called by the press ‘the Twinkie defense,’” a report states. His excuse was crazy, but what was even crazier was the jury’s response. He only served 5 years in prison.
#7 ‘Imagine’ John Lennon’s Killer John Lennon, the main man of the revolutionary band The Beatles, was killed in the early days of December 1980. His killer, Mark Chapman, said he shot the “Imagine” singer four different times because Lennon annoyed him. Chapman could be best described as a Christian zealot, a man who would do anything in the name of Jesus. He’d even murder for his religion, which is exactly what he did. Chapman found Lennon to be a hypocrite, and he was extremely angry at the musical genius. “Chapman was irritated by Lennon singing about ‘Imagine no possessions’ when Lennon was rich and had many possessions,” a History and Headlines article states. To this day, Chapman’s still in prison. He’ll probably die in there.
#8 Cheetos Is Truly ‘Dangerously Cheesy’ You and your friend haven’t bonded if you guys have never fought over food. Between arguing over what restaurant to pick, takeout to order, or bill to pay, y’all just love food–especially junk food. Sometimes, you’re loving Ho-Hos more than your friend, which is totally okay. However, when you’re killing your friend for Ho-Hos, then you’ve definitely gone too far. However, in St. Louis, Missouri, a man named David Scott murdered another homeless man, Roger Wilkes, for his Cheetos. Wilkes was stabbed for a bag of chips, which brings new meaning to the brand’s slogan, “It ain’t easy being cheesy.”
#9 Buy Your Own Beer Beer has any American’s heart, which is probably why alcohol addiction is so common in the United States. While it’s no secret that people can be overdosed on alcohol, people can also die from alcohol in other ways. According to Houston Press, one man got shot over cases of beer. “When he allegedly grabbed a 12-pack of Bud Light and walked out, the clerk grabbed his gun and followed,” the article states. The thief was then shot. As cops arrived on the scene, the convenient store’s employees gave away more information. Apparently, the deceased man would steal a 12-pack and a 20-pack of beer a day. His addiction got the best of him, and it got the best of the workers too.
#10 A Killer Party Thanks to Raul Rodriguez, one party turned into a bloodbath. His neighbor was hosting a loud lively party, which really bothered Rodriguez. In fact, the man was so disturbed that he grabbed both his gun and camcorder. He was going to shoot the attendees, and he was going to document the deaths. “He had lured several people outside with a flashlight and shot and killed one 36-year-old man, wounding two others. He recorded the whole thing,” a newspaper states. He wanted evidence, so when the cops showed up, he’d have proof of his distress. His plan didn’t go quite the way he wanted it to turn out. He was sentenced to 40 years behind bars.
#11 Fanatic Kills Man Of Little Faith When the Bible’s passage “O ye of little faith” is read, the words “shall be killed” don’t follow. Justin Green would say differently. According to him, he shot a man named Jose Ramirez because he lacked faith in God. Not only did Green kill him, but Green’s friend also used his credit card to buy pizza. However, what makes this story even worse is how many years Green avoided the police. Ramirez was buried five years before his murderer was ever caught, which is scarier than Green and his friend eating a slice of Papa John’s. For all the police know, Green could’ve shot and killed more “non-believers” or anyone else he disliked.
#12 Cold Eggs And Ham There’s nothing better than a home-cooked breakfast. However, cold breakfast is enough to trigger your gag reflex, which is probably why a man named Stanley Neace shot his wife, her daughter, and their neighbors. “Neace got a little agitated when his wife Sandra served him a plate of scrambled eggs that had gone cold,” a Crave article states. Obviously, the man had a few screws loose, not to mention an anger problem. No matter how poorly breakfast was made, who in their right mind would actually shoot and kill the people they (supposedly) love the most? Nobody. Well, except for Neace. Before police arrived at the trailer park, Neace had shot himself.
#13 A Murderous Crapshoot Honestly, there’s nothing worse than using the bathroom without toilet paper nearby, especially when you know your roommate was too lazy to replace the roll. Franklin Paul Crow knows the pain from firsthand experience. His friend, Kenneth Matthews, forgot to leave toilet paper in the bathroom, so Crow had nothing to wipe himself with. However, unlike most people, Crow released his anger by murdering Matthews. “Incensed by having to walk around poopy, Crow grabbed a sledgehammer and bludgeoned Matthews to death, finishing the job with a claw hammer,” Crave states. The two men were already having problems with each other, so Matthews’ inconsiderateness was what pushed Crow over the edge. He was definitely pissed off.
#14 Channeling Their Anger It’s painful sharing a television with your entire family. David Makoeya, a 61-year-old South African, would tell you the same thing. He and his wife, son, and daughter were watching television together. They were watching a religious program on air, but Makoeya wanted to watch a soccer game instead. He changed the channel, and by the way the rest of his family acted, you would’ve thought he killed a small village. His wife, son, and daughter repeatedly “stabbed him to death.” He was beaten by his loved ones over a television. The entire story’s hard to fathom. However, at least Makoeya no longer has to deal with his barbaric family. Now, he can watch soccer matches to his heart’s content…somewhere else.
#15 Losing The Mom-Of-The-Year Award No matter how much fun Facebook games can be, play at your own risk. If you’re anything like Alexandra Tobias, you’ll value virtual reality over your family, friends, and children. In 2010, the mother was growing her crops on the outdated game FarmVille, an online world where Facebook users can grow agriculture and raise livestock. When her infant Dylan kept crying, Tobias snapped. She was so enraged that she shook her baby countless times. “She shook him to death, taking a break in the middle of her horrific act to have a cigarette,” Crave concludes. No matter how many awards Tobias achieved in the game, she lost the (supposedly) most important award of her life—motherhood. Games can be one hell of a drug.
