like this actually genuinely baffles me. people seriously sit down and pay a hundred dollars to access ONE (1) generic anime boy. and then pay another hundred dollars to get his weapon. and then pay a hundred dollars five more times to unlock all his abilities. for One Character. like holy shit.
i seriously have to wonder if its for lack of playing an actually good game before? this isn’t me being petty either, genshin’s game design is just Genuinely so boring. the only thing genshin impact was actually good at is making me wish i was playing breath of the wild, a game where you can run around as an anime boy and get weapons and outfits for free, except its actually also fun. breath of the wild has Actually Engaging Gameplay And Story instead of just characters Talking At You with nearly identical fetch quests sprinkled in here and there.
rather than a leveling system that forces you fight the exact same enemy in the exact same place hundreds of times (without exaggeration!!!!) the game has a dynamic system of gradually making the enemies harder in response to the player’s exploration and progress. and that’s not even factoring in the utterly baffling decision for players to potentially spend hundreds of dollars to get a character, only to find that they are completely unusable because the items needed to make them stronger are completely inaccessible for literal hours upon hours of gameplay.
and the worst part is, the whole of botw costs less than reaching pity for ONE (1) character in genshin impact ONE (1) time. like who designed this shit. it sucks so hard.
and the worst part is? this shamelessly shitty amalgam of every predatory game practice under the sun cheaply masquerading as a worse copy of better games made over a Billion Dollars last year. this garbage fire made more in ONE YEAR than ELDEN RING, off of what i can only assume are the backs of underpaid employees and people who developed gambling addictions as a direct result of their unethical and exploitative business model.
okay but seriously. why do people play genshin impact when they could do literally anything else.
