The most votes for a poll came from far and away Kidd Commander vs 17776 / 20020, at 2303...otherwise the average votes this round was only 900.

17776 / 20020 was also the most recognized, at 1303 votes, and the poll had the highest "both" yet at 16.1% (the previous highest? 6.6%) and the lowest "neither" at 29.7% (previous 35.6%)

The least recognized was It's All a Dream in the End, at 15 votes / 1.9%

We had two pairs where no one recognized both - True Magic vs Spontaneous World Shifting, and Beyond the Western Deep vs Spirit Fingers

Happy Webcomics Wednesday! May I introduce you to my 48 year old son, Steward Demeck from The Otherknown?

The Otherknown is a sci-fi webcomic following the tale of a young girl named Chandra. She has never truly had a family of her own, her closest relative being her aunt Ajupris Lerazmine adopts her but doesn’t seem to provide the loving atmosphere one would hope for.

We start our story with Chandra and her aunt visiting a mining operation on a small moon. A business meeting is set to take place between Ajupris and the foreman of the operation, meanwhile, Chandra decides to explore. She meets a young boy and slowly become friends, after a few incidents.

Despite all this Chandra and her aunt are hiding something, something that could change the very world as they know it, and with the knowledge they have, they just might do exactly that.

Sorry about being vague, but I really don’t want to spoil anything that happens. It’s probably my favorite kind of twist in stories and I’d just really hate if I ruined it.

Anyways, the story itself is a great drama piece with plenty of heartwrenching moments as well as plenty of suspense. You go into this story with a certain impression and it’s quickly changed as the characters talk and hints are given. Going into this story completely blind is probably the best decision you could make.

The art style starts out with a heavier focus on the characters while the backgrounds look more plain and simple. As the chapters go on things become much more detailed and absolutely gorgeous to look at.

After getting caught up to the most current page I can only say that I’m so eager to see what happens next. From decisions that are made, to things that are said and done, I’m so excited to see what’s in store.

And as always I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

WEBCOMIC RECS

I’ve been reading a whole lotta webcomics lately, so here have some recs: 

THE MEEK by Der-shing Helmer

My holy grail of webcomics: funny and touching, great characters, amazing art and stunning worldbuilding. If you’ve never read a webcomic before, this is a good place to start. Light NSFW in the first chapter due to some (non-sexual) female nudity, so keep that in mind. 

NO END, a Post-Apocalyptic Romance by Erli and Kromi

AKA the webcomic that already had me more than convinced and then introduced a beautiful clever redhead for me to give my entire heart to. Some excellent Queer Content (every main character is LGBTQ+ in some way!), wonderful clean art and engaging characters; it’s all here, folks. Some graphic violence, as the zombie apocalypse genre sort of invites, but I’d say most of it is just the characters interacting. 

QUICK$ILVER by Emily Smith/Cryptovolans

This comic has one of the funniest, most energizing main characters I have ever seen; he is hilarious. The art style - watercolours! so cool! - is beautiful and unique and fits the noir themes perfectly. More of that Queer Content we are all here for.

SHADERUNNERS by Capp and Lin

Incredible fantasy world building meets a 1920-ish vibe! Very queer, very well thought out, very compellingly drawn, on top of an intriguing basic premise. (What if the prohibition... but colors?!??!!? Take my word for it it’ll make sense once you read it, such a cool concept)

THE OTHERKNOWN by Lora

Excellent space opera! The comic that sent me down this new webcomic hole in the first place. I love everyone in this particular bar, but I love Demeck and his weird, wonderful expressions the most. 

UNDER THE AEGIS by vimeddiee  

It’s got everything; touching coming-of-age-esque team building antics, ~*romance*~ both queer and otherwise, beautiful art with such immersive attention to detail, great worldbuilding, fish- and bird boys (!), dastardly ancient assassination plots... go read it, you guys! The author also has a new comic HERE that looks super amazing, please check it out!
