nora wanting to be more like her father but finding less things common with him, while having more things in common with her ma effortlessly almost, whom she does not vibe with (that's putting it mildly) is true poetic justice.
it is also uniquely an evil thing that once she realises this, she's well into adulthood and feels like she's just grown up and when she scours her carefully maintained archives of old pictures and tape recordings, she finds that there's no picture of her, no video of her. it is her mother who took all of those pictures that nora ever so carefully maintains.

Yandere Alastor with daughter reader
A Stag and his Fawn
Tumblr media
‐-----‐----‐-----------------------------------
(Not proof read cause I'm tired but I need to post)
Masterlist
---------
Tumblr media
Alastor was your adoptive father. He adopted you when you were both still alive. You were only a baby at the time, being left in a dumpster.
When Alastor was dumping bodys in the dumpster he found you, he was originally going to put you in a foster home, but when he saw you open your eyes and look at him seeming at peice, he knew it was a bad idea to put you in any foster home.
Of course, he could not just take you in. He had to get you some medical treatment. So he took you to the nearest hospital to get a check-up and other things. Then he had to do even more other things like birth certificate and adoption stuff. (You know, the essentials)
Anyways, once you were old enough, he taught you his ways of voodoo and murder. (You were already learning from about 4, lmao), and you became a perfect daughter to him (even though you were already perfect to him).
If you were to get bullied in school, those kids would regret it. He would also teach those kids' parents a lesson as well.
If you end up dying before him from it being someone's fault, he would torture that person/persons and eat that person's corpse.
Once he enters hell, he would search for you while aswell becoming a terrifying overlord. And once he finds you, he would pretend you are not his daughter in public so you would not get targeted. He knows you can look after yourself so he would let you in public by yourself, but a shadow will follow you.
But if you are an overlord, he wouldn't admit being your father, but he will treat you like his daughter in public, and he will let others' theories flow. (Overlord or not, a shadow will follow you, btw)
Now, if he dies first, he will patiently wait for you. You, of course, kill the one who mistakes your father for a deer. You then live life how he wanted you to, until you finally arrive in hell.
Once you arrive in hell, he ether will take a while to find you or find you quickly. If you quickly become an overlord just like him, he would be proud, like you have no idea.
(The ways he is with you in hell is the same as I explained in the first death choice.)
Of course, introducing you to people as Alastors' daughter, you will get interesting reactions.
The overlords would be shocked, to say the least, Carmila might like Alastor slightly more cause she has her own daughters.
Now the hotel's reactions ig
Of course, the entire hotel is shocked except for niffty and husk cause yall already probably met (I would tell you that, but that's a different kind of worm)
Anyway, sir pentious would be most likely terrified of you or just won't admit it.
Angel- well, Angel-... he's probably going to start off with sex jokes, and how unfair it is that some random bitch got to fuck Alastor. Your father was not happy.
Vaggie is very suspicious of you once you met. She knew how your father was, so you were not trustworthy. (Which was fair, you showed that same creepy smile your father did)
Charlie loved meeting you. She was and is so happy that Alastor has a daughter and she is and was happy to meet you. She was hoping to help you get redeemed, but you just told her you would rather be in hell with your father.
--------_______--------
I was going to make Alastor more yandere but because of 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑠, he's like that, ok? OK
I did get lazy at the end, so... Yyyeeeaaaa
Hope you enjoyed it

Batfam x GN!Bat!Reader.
Tumblr media
Summary: Bruce had another kid in Arkham asylum that nobody knows about.
Warnings: Murder, Suicide, Arkham asylum, Reader can see the dead, Bruce being a bad father, mentions someone who can "hear God".
Part Two
~☆~
Nineteen.
Nineteen miserable years that you have been alive. Five of which you have spent in the hell hole, that is Arkham Asylum. Thrown in here with the approval of the man known as your father. The man Gotham city praises. The man who does nothing but help those around him, even going as far as adopting a group of orphans. Bruce Wayne.
You had always had an "overreactive" imagination as the people around you called it. When you were around twelve, you started having "outbursts", claiming things that weren't there actually existed, things that happened actually were caused by another being, one that only you can see.
So when your mother was unexpectedly murdered, and Batman walked onto the scene, you told him you weren't even home. But the journals your mother kept that had scribbles all about your claims made them believe it was you who killed her, only, you were believing a delusion, so you didn't remember. Of course you remember, you were out running the streets to get yourself just a scrap of food from wherever you could get it from.
The city wanted a DNA test before they threw you in Arkham, trying their best to put a face to the empty signature on your birth certificate. You could always tell your mother knew who your father was. Her dismissive attitude that presented whenever you would ask gave it away.
When the test came back and told you that you were the Prince of the city's kid, you told yourself that he's unreliable and not to be trusted. Your mother had to have a reason not to tell the man that she was carrying his child. She wouldn't have raised you in your shitty one bedroom apartment for nothing. Maybe she did tell him, and he just told her to get lost?
You just know that as he watched you get dragged away and thrown in one of the most vile places, you had decided that he was the worst thing you would ever see.
He never one visited or called. Even when the DNA came back and he was allowed a short meeting with you, he denied wanting to see you. A far different man than his TV persona.

"This piece goes over there.." A female voice spoke from over your shoulder.
"Thank you, Alice."
"Mhm"
Alice was a nice girl. She had shaved off brunette hair and a pair of strikingly blue eyes. There were marks that stuck to the temples of her head from years of electro-therapy. She had been a patient at Arkham years before you were thrown in. She had even died there. She had whispered a story about her time awaiting her death through her electro-therapy...it was almost the same as the electric chair.
"And this one goes here." A young male who sat in front of you pointed at the puzzle you were putting together.
Mathew. He, too, had dark brown hair and matching blue eyes with Alice. Siblings that came from the same rotten seed. He had killed himself in Arkham after he found out about Alice's death.
Nothing was really wrong with them, they had been transmitted to Arkham at a bad time in the world. The both of them were just severely traumatized and scared.
Far different than Ruby, who claims God was talking to her, but his whispers stopped when she strangled herself.
"They have brownies in the canteen today." Mathew whispered, watching you with his usually wide eyes. The brownies happened to be the only good thing in this entire facility.
"Finally, I've been waiting all week." You mumbled, looking down at the table in front of you.
"Y/N." The familiar voice of Dr. Conley spoke. "It's time."
Wordlessly, you abandoned your puzzle and left your room, following her all the way to the bare office that they would bring the catatonic patients. Your breakdown last week had landed you to not be able to leave the main building.
"Please sit." She instructed you. You did as told and reached for the sickeningly white chair that waited for you.
You watched as she took in a sigh and looked around the room. "I thought you were getting better-"
"There is nothing to recover from." You interrupted her, growing defensive. "I'll name off a patient who died here, and you can go see if you can find their papers!"
You know you should've given up explaining by now. None of them would ever believe you. "Y/N, you know that's not possible-"
"But fucking aliens are!?" Your breathing became heavy as you looked at her.
"Look, Y/N-"
"I want to go back to my room." You mumbled, interrupting her for the third time.
You could hear her sigh yet again before she tried to speak, but you only banged on the table in front of you. "I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY ROOM!"
×
Dick had been searching through Bruce's at home office for the past few hours. Looking for his adoption papers because of some stupid shit at work. With a sigh, he closed the filing cabinet he was looking in and went to go find Alfred instead.
As he approached the dining room (where he expected the older man to be), he not only found Alfred, but a giant box filled with papers as well.
"I believe you were looking for this." Alfred stated as he turned to look at Dick. "Master Bruce keeps all of your legal documents in a safer place." Of course, he was talking about the other adoptees and blood child that lived in the Manor some point in their life.
"Yeah, thanks, Alf." Dick smiled as he started sorting through the papers. The older man only nodded his head and walked off.
Alright here we go..Jason, Tim, Damian, Jason again, More stuff for Tim, a copy of his own birth certificate, Y/N L/N, Jason- Hold on..Y/N L/N?
×
Dick had loudly entered the batcave, making a b-line straight for Bruce.
"Who is Y/N?!"
"Wha-"
"Who the fuck is Y/N, Bruce?!"
Bruce let out a sigh as he stepped away from Dick, watching as his son waved a handful of papers in his face.
"Father, what is he talking about?" Damian (who just happened to be in the cave) asked.
"He has another kid- one that he's kept secret!" Dick yelled, looking over at his younger brother. He knows it's not really any of his business, but he can't help but feel angry over how you might have not even existed in Bruce's eyes. "Another ACTUAL kid of yours!" He put emphasis on the 'actual' trying to hint to you being another blood child like Damian.
"Go get ready. I'm calling Tim and Jason." He told Damian, already grabbing his phone from his pocket. Damian hesitantly got out of his seat and did what Dick asked.
"Dick, you don't have to make this serious." Bruce slackly tried to grab for the phone.
"Don't make it serious?!" Dick yelled, shocked at Bruce's words. "They're your kid?!"
"They're a murderer!"
Dick let an ebrupt laugh fall from his lips, slowly lowering the phone from his ear. "Jason's a murderer."
"B-but-"
"Damian's a murderer, Tim's a murderer, I'm a murderer!" He yelled out the last part.
The two of them continued to stare at each other for a few seconds before Dick brought his phone back up to his ear. "Yeah, Tim, I'm here."

I dunno if anyone's interested BUT i'll post it anyways...
Meet my GF Oc, Elizabeth "Eli (E-lai)" Miller
* Younger years:
Eli's mom, Emily Miller, passed away when giving birth to her. Her dad, Eric Miller, hated her for it. Eli looks exactly like her mom, her being also a girl alongside that fact made Eric's hatred grow towards her even more... So he made her pretend to be a guy. Eric made her cut her hair short, made her wear boyish clothes and made her act boyish, he made her cut her eye lashes short and he made her convince everyone that she's a guy... Or else she won't be able to leave the house ever again. (Which is her nightmare cuz Eric was an alcoholic and abusive towards Eli).
Eric even made a duplicate of her birth certificate. Her name there was changed to Eli (pronounced as E-lai) and her gender there was "male", that's what he gives when people ask for it (like school and stuff).
Relationship with the twins:
Eli was Stan and Ford's childhood best friend, she was 2 years younger than them (They didn't know that Eli was a girl).
Eli was fairly smart for her age so she managed to skip 1 grade level, making her the twin's classmate. She and the twins were the odd ones out in the class so they got along pretty quickly.
* Teen years:
Eli was still Stan and Ford's classmate and they still haven't figured out that Eli was a girl.
She wraps her chests with bandages to flatten it out, she wears loose clothes to hide her curves, she still keeps her hair and eyelashes short, she can also hit lower notes (she uses that to deepen her voice).
Stan found out about Eli being a girl when he followed her towards the men's locker room during gym class (she goes there after making sure that there's no one there anymore).
After that, she told the twins about her situation. (Additional info: she has a crush on Stan since they were kids).
After finding out that Stan got kicked out of his house:
Eli was devastated and stopped talking to Ford after finding out what had happened.
After finishing high school, she ran away, she couldn't take Eric's abuse anymore.
She went couch surfing at her friends' houses, just until she found a job and got a really cheap apartment of her own.
*Middle age years:
Eli worked 3 low paying jobs at the same time just to support herself. When she couldn't take it anymore, she resorted to doing illegal stuff for cash (Stealing, being a drug seller, selling her body in exchange for cash).
She found out about the military allowing high school graduates to be a part of the military, so she signed up there.
She did everything she could to rise to the top, she became the very first female Navy SEAL in just 10 years of being there.
She met Stan again while she was off duty from the Navy. Stan told her about his situation (living in a car and stuff), so she helped him by giving him some cash and paying for his motel room.
Just after a few days of meeting Stan again and hanging out with him, she received a deployment letter from the Navy. She had to go overseas to fight in a war.
She told Stan about her feelings towards him ever since they were kids, one thing led to another and they hooked up (It was the night after she received the letter).
She waited for Stan to fall asleep before packing her stuff and leaving.
She left Stan without telling him that she was in the Navy and was about to fight in a war, she thinks telling him that would only make Stan stop her from going. (She told him about it in the note she left before leaving).
Additional Info: (Eli told Stan about her letting guys whatever they want to her body in exchange for cash. She told him about "guys doing weird stuff towards her", she told him that its the reason why she has so many scars on her body (it was really because of her time in the military).
*Present
Eli found out about "Stan's death" while she was still in the Navy, she was devastated. After retiring from the Navy, she found out that "Stanford" was currently living in Gravity Falls Oregon, she went there in order to reconnect and also mourn the loss of Stan Pines with him. When she got there, she heard the familiar voice of Stan, it's not too hard for her to find out that Stan was pretending to be Ford since she knows that only Stan would commit crimes out of the twins. (At least from her knowledge).
They got into a big fight. Stan is mad at Eli for leaving him at his worse without a word and Eli is mad at Stan for not understanding her decision.
After calming down a bit, Eli asked Stan about why he was pretending to be Ford and Ford's whereabouts. Stan at first lied about it, but knowing Eli would find out about it sooner or later and Eli also being Ford's best friend... He gave in and asked her to come back to the Shack later at midnight. Stan showed her the portal and told her about the fight he had with Ford.
Eli told Stan that she's gonna help him rebuild the portal, Stan refused at first but the desperation of seeing his brother again made him agree.
They made the decision to take turns of running the Shack and rebuilding the portal to make things faster.
Fun Fact: Eli has been abusing her status as an honorary, first female Navy SEAL status in order to get Stan out of trouble

Redactober 2024 Day Twelve
Prompt: Dealer's Choice & Diamond
Pairing: Marcus/Love
cw: vent piece, Marcus is that thoughtless motherfucker who's afraid of commitment
"That’s a diamond ring,” Marcus says, muting the tv in the middle of the jeweler’s commercial, on a smiling couple holding hands with the two carat diamond on full display."
Available on AO3 here!
<- Prev Day | Next Day ->
“What’s that?”
“What, on her finger? That’s a diamond ring,” Marcus says, muting the tv in the middle of the jeweler’s commercial, on a smiling couple holding hands with the two carat diamond on full display.
“I can see that,” Love says, watching the screen with rapt attention and a wide, curious green gaze. “What is it for? What is its significance?”
“It’s a… a custom, I’d say? When someone proposes to someone else, asks the other to get married, they ask by getting down on one knee and presenting the ring.” The android hums thoughtfully, the processor in their head whirring as they look down at the unadorned polymer skin of their left hand. “Do you have any other questions, or shall we continue?”
“When will you give me a ring and ask me to marry you?”
“Wh- wha- what brought this on? What led you to this conclusion?” Marcus asks, coughing into his fist to mask his shock.
“Marriage is defined as the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. Colloquially, it is also defined as a commitment, a social and legal promise to be together till death do they part because they love each other.” Love looks up at Marcus standing above them and smiles before taking his hand in theirs to mimic the pair in the commercial. “Or is it my responsibility to get the ring and ask? I might find that difficult, given I lack the funds, but I could find a way.”
“No!” Marcus exclaims, nervously patting the strong hand gripping his own and switching off the tv completely, putting an end to the Culture and Media lessons for the day. “No, you won’t need to do that, Love. As much as I wish I could, we can’t legally get married. You’d need a birth certificate, a social security number, lots of things… It’s not possible.”
“Oh…” The light in the android’s eyes literally dims as they process this new information and attempt to troubleshoot. “Can we have just a wedding then? I’ve seen some that happen without the legal proceedings, that are more informal.”
“We can’t do that either, Love; of course we can’t,” Marcus says, soothingly stroking their synthetic hair and contemplating the image of their mechanical lover in a wedding dress and veil. A quick, startled laugh escapes him due to its absurdity, and Love with their ever present, intense scrutiny does not miss it.
“I don’t understand why that’s funny, why we can’t. We love each other, and people who love each other get married,” they insist, taking his hand from atop their head and intertwining their fingers. Marcus’s joints pop in their inhumanly strong grasp, and Love’s facial recognition software fails to read the wince of pain on his face in favor of looking for the adoration and devotion he once wore without reserve. “When can we stop hiding?”
“Is that what this is about?” Marcus says with a weak laugh, kneeling to kiss their face reassuringly and alleviate some of the tense pull they have on his hands. “We’re not hiding, we’re just… we’re just being smart. The suits above wouldn’t understand, wouldn’t let us be, so for now, only the people who matter know about us, and that’s you and me.” The android’s grip loosens, and the human takes the opportunity to pull them against him in an embrace, pressing more placating kisses into their hair and running a soothing hand down the sensory receptors they put alongside their manufactured spine. “You and me, for better or for worse. We don’t need a certificate or a diamond ring to prove that; we have each other.”

The Flash
A Manipulation in Love and Violence
ma·nip·u·la·tion noun 1. the action of manipulating something in a skillful manner. 2. the action of manipulating someone in a clever or unscrupulous way. Manipulation. Is that what they call it? I always thought it was called love. No one could’ve guessed that the man who killed my mother was the same man who I let not only into my sheets, but into my heart as well. Certainly not me. Eobard Thawne. Only, I didn’t know, he was a man behind a mask. A mask my heart forbade me to look past.
An Allegation of Fire and Ice
al·le·ga·tion /ˌaləˈɡāSH(ə)n/ noun 1. a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof. Leonard has been chasing after Barry for months now, but when Barry stops giving into his taunts, he thinks something must be wrong. One night Barry comes asking for Leonard’s help. Of course Leonard was going to say yes, anyway, but he wanted Barry to beg. And beg he did. Of course Barry keeps Leonard a secret, not wanting to admit the truth even to himself. But is he somebody he could love or is he just a distraction from what’s really going on. Can he trust his heart with another? Or is it too soon?
A Misconception of Truth and Chaos
mis·con·cep·tion /ˌmiskənˈsepSH(ə)n/ noun 1. a view or opinion that is incorrect because based on faulty thinking or understanding. Harrison Wells was everything Barry could ask for. He was the guy of his dreams. Of course, it had to be too good to be true. Nobody was that perfect. After everything with Eobard, Barry is confused when he meets Harry. He doesn’t want to but he ends up falling for Harry. Barry has to learn how to separate the face from the person.

The Tearsmith (Long Post)
Okay so, like I just recently watched this movie and then bought a digital copy of the book and read it and I just wanted to post a review because I've been seeing a lot of mixed opinions.
I want to start by saying that, arguably it's not that bad. Lets be real, okay, yes, it does have a wattpad quality to it BUT strip it down to it's core for a quick second and look past the "twilight" vibe and actually focus on the key points.
One of the things I've seen is that Nica doesn't have any depth to her, which just isn't true, at least in the book.
Nica has a personality, ya'll!!! It isn't quite portrayed as deep in the movie but she is three dimensional, I promise!! Nica comes across a bit naive and with her head in the clouds but THAT'S the point. She lost her parents at a young age and grew up in an abusive and toxic situation where she was constantly told to be a "good" girl, nothing else. Now imagine if you were in that scenario? Where you're being raised among other children who have had no chance to grow or flourish? Who have their passions or joys ripped away as a form of punishment. I think personally that would stunt anyones personality. The only thing Nica can hold onto, the only thing that couldn't be taken away was her tenderness, which is often times shown through her love for animals. If you've ventured to read the book, it definitely explores that side of her much more. Hence why she wears band-aids around her fingers, from helping wounded animals. In the movie when Norman asks her if she's hurt Margaret says that she tends to hurt animals. In the book she later because a veterinarian because of her love for animals!
Now that I've said that, lets get into Rigel. I have found that a lot of people don't really care for his character and while I can understand to an extent, I quite throughly enjoyed it. Rigel isn't a good person, but he isn't a bad one either. I think people aren't analysing things in depth because when you look past Rigel's broody and harsh exterior you can actually see who he is as a person.
Let's start with the bleeding obvious, his abandonment issues. It doesn't go into the nitty gritty in the movie because timeline wise, they wouldn't have been able to fit everything in, but, there's a memory from Rigel's point of view of when he was a child, a doctor talks about his abandonment issues to Margaret who is vehemently denying them, saying that he was only a baby and couldn't possibly remember being abandoned, yet the doctor tells her that children are quite capable of understanding when they get older. The doctor continues to say that children that young can feel the lack and tend to blame themselves and make it so they feel responsible for it. And that's taken directly from the book.
Rigel is a broken child, he says that he's been disaster from birth multiple times. He thinks that because of his condition that's why his parents left him at Grave. While it is assumed that most of the children there are left orphaned from guardians deaths, Rigel is the only kid who was left behind, no note, no birth certificate. Nothing, he doesn't exist and I don't think knowing that helps how he views himself. Rigel believes he's a wolf, something dangerous and monstrous and it didn't make things better that other kids were scared or hateful of him. In the book, it explains that kids were scared of him because he had outbursts, scratching at his eyes or pulling and digging at the dirt and grass. These are all side effects from his condition, which I really do wish they had included that he got hallucinations whenever he got headaches and stuff because that made up a huge part of his character in the book. He used to see Nica with wings, like she was an angel.
I also think that they portrayed Rigel more angsty then what he was in the book. Sure, he had this cynical part of him but often times was described as being sarcastic and could be seen as snarky at times. Which I feel wasn't shown as well through the movie. I think the two times I can remember was when Lionel was introducing himself to Nica and just as he goes to say his name, Rigel interrupts and says bothersome. And the other time was when Nica asked him if he gave her the rose and he says, "Me? Give you a rose?". I think netflix really leaned heavy on the mysterious dark teen look instead of the "I'm gonna be snarky and sarcastic as a way of pushing boundaries." Because sexy and enigmatic sells more, not trauma.
His trauma from Margaret forms exactly who he shows on the outside. She for all intents and purposes raised him as her own and Rigel hated that. I mean, Nica even says that whenever he plays the piano Margaret is all he thinks of and she wants to erase that. That's how so deeply intwined this woman is with Rigel. He was her pride and joy and consequently ignored everything that was wrong with him, leaving Rigel a husk someone who could never move on from his issues. She ruined that boy, she ruined him to forever keep him close.
Now that I've deconstructed Nica and Rigel's characters a little, lets talk about the most obvious "issue" I've seen going around. Ladies and gentlemen, yes, I'm going to crack open the incest nut.
It's not incest. Please let me be clear when I say, what goes on between Nica and Rigel, isn't in anyway a form of incest! Throughout the entire movie, everyone refers to Rigel as Nica's brother but she denies it. The only time she says it, is at the start with Anna and Norman but I can explain that. Nica says they were like siblings at Sunnycreek, but we as viewers knows that wasn't the truth. In the book, it goes into further detail about how much Rigel bullied her. Pulling ribbon out of her hair, tugging at her clothes etcetera. While it isn't the greatest bit of evidence, I can firmly say that that's what little kids do when they don't know how to interact with the person they like. I was always told that a boy bullying me meant he liked me, which while it is shitty and not a good enough reason to do it, it is a thing. Boys really just don't know how to talk to girls, honestly.
So, while Nica tells Anna and Norman they're like siblings, it's a blatant lie to get the Milligan's to like Nica. She doesn't want to cause waves with the potential new parents, so she says that her and Rigel are like brother and sister to appease their idea of family. What else would she say? Actually, we don't like each other and never really have? Of course not! Nica needs Anna and Norman to love her, needs them to get her fairytale ending because like she says in the book, no one comes for teenagers, they were the metaphorical old dog in the pound that gets bypassed when adults saw the puppy who is trainable and cute.
In conclusion,
Nica never intended to fall for Rigel, all she wanted was a family but by chance she does. I think that while Rigel always knew she was the only attachment he had ever experienced, he couldn't have her because he knew what she wanted from life and he didn't fit into that fairytale, not with him being the wolf that he so badly thought he was. However, we get the scene when Rigel comes back from his fight with Lionel and we finally, finally see his walls come down, in his sickness he can't lie, can't have an icy exterior to the only person who had shown him honest kindness, tenderness. Because even though he hurt Lionel, Nica still helped him, took him upstairs, stripped him of soaking wet clothes and got him medicine to help with his fever. He begs her to stay because for the first time, he doesn't have to be strong, doesn't have to be brave. Nica has him, tends to him with no ulterior motive, just tenderness and the need to make sure he would be okay.
He's shown for the first time, things aren't black and white and aren't transactional like with Margaret. In the book there isn't so much physical touching, because it's a tender moment. Just two kids who survived different sides of abuse, finally free just to be alive. I do think that the physical touching added something, I didn't mind it because I saw it more so as a need to feel something solid beneath fragile skin. It was desperate, fuelled by Rigel's need to erase Margaret's touches, which we see when he has the flashback to her kissing his cheek and him immediately wiping it away when she's gone. He's touching Nica, the light that never seems to dim, a person who hasn't judged him, just wanted to know why he did what he did. She's the good he so desperately wants to have but ultimately can never obtain.
Take away the steamy erotic grabbing and kissing and want. Look at these teenagers, really look at them. It's not a dark romantic story, it's about the trauma that bonds these two together, how no one can understand what they've been through, not really. It's about a fairytale that doesn't end in "ever after" it's about reality, about how change can happen, even if it seems impossible. It's about hardship that turns these two characters into who they are, how they react to certain situations, how they behave around others who've never experienced trauma.
Rigel and Nica are proof of life after soul breaking childhoods. They aren't perfect and Rigel never does make amends with his issues because in reality no one ever does, but he finally has a chance to grow, to let those bad parts of his life fade and that can only be done with Nica, because she has to let those bad parts of her life fade too.
They end up staying together, creating their own family. One that will never be tarnished, never torn apart or abandoned. Nica get's the chance at her family and Rigel learns to accept that not every person is going to make you believe you're unlovable.

part seventeen
❝ ONE AFTER ANOTHER ❞
MONDAY — JULY 23 — 10:54AM
BENTLEY MADE IT THROUGH MATH CLASS.
The whole thing was Dr… Mr. Keene giving a presentation about himself. He had two sons, instead of a daughter that he turned into a raging supervillain. He didn’t have a doctorate, he had a bachelors. He’d lived in New York City since he was in his early twenties — he didn’t live in Gotham, and he never had. In some of the pictures of his family, the Dr. Keene Bentley knew made appearances, standing alongside his brother when they were young.
About halfway through the presentation, Bentley actually started believing it wasn’t him. But his… appearance was something he’d have to get used to.
Bentley was pretty jittery for the rest of the class, and Varian kept glancing over at him about every three seconds for the entire period, just to make sure he was okay. Which he was. He was fine. It wasn’t Dr. Keene, and all of that had happened three years ago, now. He should be over it… right? (Getting kidnapped, tortured in his own mind, shot, watching people die, seeing all of Gotham on fire, watching Asten’s heart literally flatline… he should be over it all. Right? Right?)
When the bell rang for them to go to fourth period, Bentley and Varian gathered their things and left the room in a blink, purposefully giving Mr. Keene no time to pull Bentley aside or try to speak to him.
Instead, they broke off for their next classes — and Bentley’s was beginner’s biology.
The science building was right next to the math building, so Bentley was one of the first few students to cross into the classroom. It was large, set up like the others — the blackboard at the front of the room had a huge, intricate chalk drawing of a cell and all its intricacies on it. There was a skeleton standing in the front corner with a Hawaiian skirt and lei, and a name tag labeled Bessie on its ribs.
There were only three other students in there, so Bentley pretty much got his pick of a table — he chose an unsuspecting one right in the middle of the room, not in the front, and not in the back. He just hoped no one random would sit with him.
The teacher was an older woman, with black hair cut into a bob and a very… serious aura about her. She was sitting at her desk with reading glasses perched precariously on her nose, staring at her computer screen with a strange intensity, wearing the same uniform as Ms. Heidi.
He didn’t say anything, nor did he do anything to draw attention to himself. He just pulled a green binder out of his backpack and put it on the table in front of him, silently hoping and praying he wouldn’t have to share the two-person desk with a stranger.
The bell hadn’t rang yet, so he pulled out his phone and held it sort of under the table — did they get in trouble for using them before class started? — and scrolled and tapped away mindlessly before he remembered he needed to look something up.
He typed Adora, California into his search bar, and was immediately greeted by several articles about…
Genocide?
He blinked a few times and turned his brightness down, tapping on the first article in the list.
Adora, California, was a small town right on the edge of Sacramento established just under fifteen years ago. It was inhabited largely by a very secretive cult who offered their allegiance and worship to an unnamed god of death. They lived “off the grid” as in no one born in that town has a physical birth certificate or social security, making them legally nonexistent.
Bentley cringed, skimming through the rest of the article quickly.
Three years ago, the entire town, save the children, was mass-murdered inside the temple of their worship building. No evidence of a physical killer have been found. Most are inclined to think they took part in a mass-suicide as tribute to their-
Bentley swiped the tab away, suddenly feeling kind of really weird and uncomfortable. Koa was from… he was born into… a cult? That was kind of weird. Or maybe he wasn’t because Bentley was pretty sure he was fifteen, and it said the town was established under fifteen years ago. He’d lived with a cult, then. That was super strange, because Koa acted completely, utterly normal -- not like cult people who were in the movies.
Bentley promptly remembered that Koa never talked about his parents, but about a young man who had custody of him. Obviously they’d survived the genocide, or suicide, or whatever. Maybe they-
Bentley shook his head, pushing it all far from his mind, because it was starting to make him feel weird. He… he guessed he’d just keep being friends with Koa like he didn’t know what Adora was -- after all, Bentley, too, had an insanely crazy past. It’d be kind of rude for him to judge Koa for his, especially since he wasn’t really supposed to know about it.
So he sat there and looked at the desk some more, and students began filing into the room at a more rapid pace. Bentley quickly glanced at each one that came in, pleased when they went to tables different from his own.
And then someone really little walked into the room.
Oh yeah, he suddenly remembered. He had biology with Bellamy.
He watched Bellamy’s brown eyes trail the room quickly as stepped inside, starting at the blackboard and traveling to  the skeleton, and then the desks, bouncing here and there before they finally landed on Bentley. He saw relief physically wash across his small features, and he pulled his backpack straps up tighter on his shoulders, making his way across the room toward his table. He glanced at the teachers desk; and Bentley didn’t miss the way he tensed at the sight of her and her threatening aura. (He didn’t really blame him.)
“Hey, Bellamy,” Bentley sent a smile in his direction, and Bellamy stepped up to the other side of the table, glancing down at it, then at Bentley, like he was asking for permission.
“You can sit with me, if you want,” Bentley continued. Bellamy shrugged his bag off and sat down next to him without saying anything, sinking down into his chair with a long, shaky exhale. Bentley watched him carefully. “...You okay?”
“I’m tired,” Was the only answer he got, and he didn’t press for anything more.
Bentley sat quiet for a few minutes, watching Bellamy glance at the teacher anxiously a few times, like she was going to come over there and personally stab him or something. She stood up from her desk and headed for the door -- Bellamy made himself smaller.
“Have you had a good day?” Bentley attempted a distraction, but it didn’t seem to help -- Bellamy just shrugged, his eyes lingering on the woman in the room. Bentley wasn’t sure what was going on, but he wasn’t a fan of the body language Bellamy was displaying. The same kind of body language Bentley used to have toward his own father.
“It's been fine,” He said softly, watching the teacher’s every move with hawk-like eyes. “I don’t like school.”
“I’m not sure many of us do,” Bentley replied, scooting his chair into the table more, keeping his gaze on Bellamy, the teacher in his peripheral. “Are you… feeling alright?”
“Mhm,” Bellamy replied. “Just tired.”
Bentley brought a hand up to rub at Bellamy’s back without thinking -- and he was sure his life flashed before his eyes at the speed the other boy jumped, so violently that it shook their entire desk and nearly knocked him out of his chair. His head snapped up and he looked over at Bentley incredulously, his brown eyes blown wide on his face, like he half-expected him to punch him or throw something at him or knock him flat out.
“I’m sorry,” Bentley immediately blurted, drawing his hand back quickly like he’d been burned. He could feel a few eyes on them from around the room, but he didn’t pay them any mind; Instead, something inside of him twisted uncomfortably when he recognized the look in Bellamy’s eyes -- a far-off, detached kind of look, like he just knew something bad was going to happen, like he was…
Like he was afraid of him.
“I’m sorry, Bellamy,” Bentley repeated, quieter. “I didn’t mean to scare you, I promise.”
Bellamy’s eyes fell, and he slowly began to relax, exhaling a breath that Bentley hadn’t noticed he was holding. “I’m… I’m sorry. I didn’t… mean to do that.”
“It's okay,” Bentley was quick to reply. Their teacher, who had apparently finished her duties in the hallway, came back into the classroom and closed the door with a loud wooden slam that shook the very walls.
Bellamy flinched again, his eyes flying up to the door like he expected something terrible and murderous to come back through it, then flicking to the teacher like she was the terrible and murderous thing. He brought his hands up and around himself as a means of comfort, gripping his own blazer sleeves until his knuckles turned white. Bentley reached out to touch his arm, but stopped short when he realized that was stupid given his current state.
He gently asked: “Bellamy?” instead.
Bentley only then noticed that Bellamy’s hands were trembling, and his breathing was growing increasingly more ragged the longer they sat there. Bentley just sort of watched, unsure of what to do that wouldn’t freak him out even more -- and Bellamy dipped his head down close to the table, his shoulders shuddering.
“Bellamy… hey, what is it?” Bentley tried, glancing up at the teacher, who was looking at them with distaste, her eyebrows raised above the metal rims of her glasses.
When Bellamy finally made a noise, it was a soft, muffled, telltale whimper in the back of his throat that sort of made Bentley want to kill someone.
He was crying.
Everything Bentley was thinking of seemed to leave his brain at the realization, and he reached for him again, only stopping when he remembered not to do that anymore. He forgot every single thing any Wayne had ever done for him when he was crying, and instead, his mind only seemed to reach back far enough to catalog what Varian had done during Bentley’s meltdown last period.
It seemed good enough.
“Hey… let's go in the hallway,” He tried, glancing around and catching a few of the pairs of eyes that were now resting on them.
Thankfully, it wasn’t very hard to convince him. Bellamy stood without a second thought, and Bentley did, too, crossing the short distance between their table and the door. Bentley stayed to Bellamy’s right, between him and the woman, just for good measure, because he didn’t know what was going on and he didn’t like it.
As soon as they were in the hallway and away from prying eyes, Bentley closed the door. Bellamy took a few steps down the hall, closing in on himself more, his sobs becoming barely, pitifully audible.
(This kid was too much like Bentley for his own good.)
“Bellamy…” He tried again, taking a few steps to follow him. “What’s wrong? Do you know her?”
He vaguely saw Bellamy shake his head no, but he was pretty much shaking all over, so Bentley wasn’t so sure about it. What he was sure about was how painfully lost he felt, having to take over the role of the help-someone-feel-better-er, the one role that was pretty much never left to him back at home simply because he was the youngest.
He wiped his hands on his pants. “You can tell me, Bell.”
“I’m…” Bellamy started, hiccuping lightly, still facing away from Bentley. “I… don’t know. I don’t know what’s wrong.”
“That’s okay, too,” Bentley said, stepping forward again.
Bellamy turned to look at him and Bentley frowned — his brown eyes were wide and pooling with tears that were steaming down his face, making dots on his blazer. He hiccuped suddenly, bringing his hands up toward his eyes in an attempt to hide it. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say sorry, it’s okay,” Bentley replied quietly, glancing around the fancy hallway, glad it was empty. “What do you need?”
Without speaking a word, Bellamy stepped forward until he collided with him gently, synching his arms tightly around Bentley’s back.
Bentley fought the urge to gasp, instead, bringing his arms up and around him in return.
“I don’t know… what’s wrong with me,” He sniffled, his voice muffled as his face was hidden away in Bentley’s blazer.
“Nothing,” Bentley was quick to reply. “All of this, Redwood, it’s… overwhelming. Even for me. It’s okay to… need a minute. I did the same thing last period, believe it or not.”
Bellamy seemed to relax a little when he said that, tightening his hold a little more, sniffling and hiccuping quietly against Bentley’s shoulder.
(He wondered if it was a form of torture that was being bestowed upon him, rooming him with a kid who was just like him in so many ways — and not the good ones. Like he was having to deal with himself. If the nightmares weren’t reminiscent enough of Bentley’s past relationship with sleep, Bellamy’s uncanny ability to have some kind of a nervous breakdown maybe only an hour after Bentley did certainly said something about them… but Bentley wasn’t sure what.)
Bellamy sniffled deeply. “My head hurts.”
Suddenly, a door opened and closed behind them, and Bellamy went rigid.
“Is everything okay?” The teacher’s voice came, and Bentley glanced over Bellamy’s head to where she was, standing next to the door with a faintly worried expression on her face. Bentley felt Bellamy grip tightly onto the back of his blazer, and all big dig his head into his shoulder so he couldn’t see her, and for some reason, Bentley couldn’t bring himself to like the woman.
“First day nerves,” Bentley replied curtly, glancing back down at Bellamy’s head. “He’s… okay with me, we might just need a few minutes.”
She nodded once, frowning at Bellamy’s trembling figure. “Yes… take your time.”
Then she disappeared back into the classroom.
Bellamy hiccuped lightly again, his hold not loosening. “I want to go to my room.”
Bentley but his lip, glancing around the hallway as though the wainscoted walls would give him a proper answer. He breathed in and out, smoothing down the hair on the back of Bellamy’s head.
“I…” He started, trailing off, unsure of what exactly to say. He didn’t think he needed to endorse Bellamy skipping class, but he didn’t just want to peer pressure him into something that made him uncomfortable, either. (If he was anything like Bentley, peer pressure didn’t actually take much pressure.) “I… I’ll be with you the whole time. And I’m pretty sure lunch is right after this, and we can ask the others if you have any classes with them for the rest of the day. I’m sure they won’t mind letting you sit with them.”
Bellamy sniffled, but said nothing. So Bentley just stayed in the hallway with him for a while, pondering what his reaction to the teacher could’ve meant.
His fathers voice from so many years ago told him that he had to pay just as much attention to what people didn’t say, as he did to what they did say.
So quietly (and probably reading too far into the conversation), he wondered why, when he was clearly in distress, Bellamy said he wanted to go to his room, rather than saying he wanted to go home.

Catherine x Jackson
S1e5 Fiasco
Tumblr media
When we catch up with Lamb and Standish at the beginning of this episode, Lamb is using a key to unlock the gate to the cemetery with the grave of William Blake where the Slow Horses had agreed to meet during the last episode.  Standish stands fast outside of the cemetery gates while Lamb is seen walking off, only he only gets about 6 steps away before he realizes that she is not walking behind him and turns to look at her.
Taverner’s voice mail – Standish; Lamb audibly and visibly sighs at this…
In the car you said you’d tell me. So, what did she mean about Charles’s death? – Standish
Tumblr media
Read the room, will you? Is now really the time? – Lamb (sounds exasperated by this questioning)
Standish says nothing, just closes her eyes for a second and decides to continue to follow Lamb.
Slow Horses are slowly arriving; Lamb asking about Struan and Cartwright.  Ho mentions the dogs showing up to the hospital, hence him leaving Cartwright and Lamb explains that they’re all next.  The dogs will be after them and Taverner will play it as Slough House gone rogue. Lamb takes off with the Slow Horses trailing behind him.  Cartwright arrives, calls Roddy a “dickhead”… Roddy glances at Standish, who just looks away shyly.
CLASSIC……. Lamb (closest to Standish) … gives his speech.
I don’t normally do these kind of speeches, but this feels like a big moment and if it all turns to shit, I might not see any of you again. You’re fucking useless.  The lot of you.  Working with you has been the lowest point in a disappointing career. Right!... Cartwright you’re with me – Lamb
Tumblr media
Everyone just kind of rolls their eyes at this but Standish manages to look genuinely offended!
Lamb tells the team to “go lock yourselves in a toilet somewhere”… but as we know from later series – he doesn’t want Catherine in particular to be anywhere near the “action” or danger… ever…  – she should be kept safely hidden away… except for when he bellows for her, at which point she should come running!! Lol
Standish is in the Smithfield Café with Ho, Guy & Harper. They’re all discussing how the dogs are after them, while Roddy watches the dogs.  The news is on and they are concerned about the kidnapped boy.
You’re forgetting Lamb – Standish
Tumblr media
Lamb doesn’t care about us.  As soon as whatever he’s got planned goes south, he’ll forget us! – Harper
That’s not true. The thing Charles always said (stops herself mid-sentence) – Standish
Roddy looks concerned, looks over at Harper & Guy questioningly. Harper puts a finger gun into his mouth and pretends to blow his brains out.  Ho acknowledges. Guy kicks Harper.
You hurt his joes, he’ll never stop coming for you.  And the thing, for Lamb, there’s nothing worse than not being able to get EVEN! – Standish
And he’s not gonna wanna lose to Taverner. - Guy
Exactly – Standish
I think he’s got even more contempt for her than he does for us. – Guy
Wow, that’s a skip-load of contempt. – Harper
And meanwhile, we what? – Guy
*the tv in the café is heard, as the news is discussing the kidnapped boy situation and threats of decapitation*
Tumblr media
Standish sighs at the news, before asking…
Roddy, where are the Park on Hassan? – Standish
They’ve just narrowed it down to ten vehicles that have left the area. – Ho
The one thing that we can bring to this is that we knew Alan Black, so…. What do we remember about him? – Standish
He was sent to Slough House for sleeping with the Venezuelan ambassador’s wife while undercover. – Ho, said with a bit of a smirk.
Apart from that. – Standish
He moaned a lot.  Never bought biscuits. – Harper
Oh, my God. – Guy
Sorry, what? We’re free forming.  There’s no bad ideas here.  – Harper
He was really lazy. – Guy
And that’s better than what I said, is it? – Harper
Listen, he was undercover with the Sons of Albion, so there would have been a birth certificate, passport, credit cards, the full legend. – Standish
Yeah. Deep cover’s expensive.  He was tight, so he definitely wouldn’t want to have to front that.  – Guy
More than that.  Taverner won’t want any of it to show up on the books. – Harper
So he could have used an old ID. – Standish
Roddy? – Standish, she leans towards him and asks him softly.
Ho looks at Standish then Guy before sighing and replying.
If you’ll give me a few minutes, ladies. – Ho
        And gentleman. – Harper
        Ladies. – repeats Ho
We see more of the kidnappers for a bit, as they are deciding how things will end, and how that will happen.
Back at the café –
Got him.  Like a rat in a trap that I will kill with a hammer.   “Triple-D Care Hire” Leeds address. – Ho
                Registration number? – Standish
Ho glances at her in surprise for a moment before responding…
That will take a while. – Ho
Ho finishes his coffee, Standish looks disappointed, Harper and Guy are looking a bit restless.
Get me a coffee. – Ho (said to Harper, who immediately sits back and looks offended).
Standish is seen next to Roddy rolling her eyes at this entire exchange.
I need fuel for this one. An SQL injection attack will take hours, which leaves a malware bomb as the most effective method, but that needs someone to open an email, so… - Ho
During this lil rant… Standish is seen glancing outside of the café to confirm there is a public telephone.  She glances at Ho’s computer, squints … and grabs her purse before heading outside.
Ho hears her get up and assumes she’s getting him coffee.
Cheers, Standish.  Double espresso. – Ho
Guy and Harper just watch as she leaves the café. We see Standish running across the street to make the call.
I thought you could hack anything. – Guy
I can.  I’m not saying I can’t do it.  Just that it will take some time. – Ho
How much time do you need, Ho? Because the kid’s gonna get beheaded in about two and half hours. – Harper
Ho glares at Harper from behind his laptop for a moment…
I’ll tell you what I can do real quick. Check your search history and tell everyone what porn you look at. – Ho
Guy raises her eyebrows at this.
Harper tries to act perfectly calm, unsuccessfully…
Fine, cause I’ve got nothing to hide. – Harper
Ho snickers at this.  Harper lets Ho type for maybe 10 seconds before attempting to slam his laptop shut!!
Don’t you fucking dare. – Harper
Hey. – Ho
Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. – Guy
What’s wrong with you?  - Ho
Standish is seen rushing in to the café again.
You’re eight years old. – Guy (to Harper)
Pardon? – Standish
Where’s my coffee? – Ho, to Standish
I didn’t get you a coffee.  I got you the registration number. DE15 CGK. – Standish
Guy and Harper are both staring at Standish, mouths open in surprise.
What? How? – Ho (also in disbelief)
Well, I rang them up. – Standish, sounding a bit proud of herself here.
And said what? “Do you mind breaking multiple data protection laws?” – Ho
No, I said th-that I’d had an accident with one of their vehicles and I had the driver’s name but because I was so shaken, I couldn’t read the registration number I’d written down. – Standish
Tumblr media
I think the words you’re looking for, Ho, and these would be a first for you, are “Well Done.” And “Thank you.” – Guy
Ho is seen entering the registration number before agreeing, that it was on the list of vehicles the Park are looking for.
Then we need to get them to focus on that vehicle – Standish
How do we let the Park know that without them tracking us? – Harper
Oh, my God. Min, a kid’s life is at stake. – Guy
I know, but Lamb told us not to get caught. – Harper
Can’t we track it ourselves? – Standish to Ho
Ho cracks his fingers before attempting to work some of his magic.  Standish looks excited that they’re able to contribute.
Lamb returns the stolen vehicle to Duffy at the Park.  Asks to speak to Taverner.
Lamb is in Taverner’s office.  Taverner dismisses Duffy, leaving them alone. Jackson plops down on her sofa.  Taverner is at her desk.  Diana tells him that Alan Black has been found. Taverner says she has a statement from someone who saw Lamb and Black meeting after he’d left Slough House.  Lamb immediately determined that it was Stuart Loy.  Taverner tells him there’ll be others.
Standish will show. And she’ll turn when she knows why you’re at Slough House. And Moody, dead, after committing murder himself.  - Taverner, who has now moved to sit directly in front of Lamb, legs crossed, attempting to appear quite relaxed and casual, as she threatens him.
Lamb is reacting to this news, but does not say anything.
Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you knew.  Sid Baker is gone. – Taverner
Lamb looks a bit defeated at this bit of news.
I’m going to make you an offer, Jackson – Taverner, leans in to make this offer…
I’m sure.  I mean, obviously you have to have this all wrapped up before Tearney lands, and I can blow the whistle on you. – mumbles Jackson
You don’t have a whistle.  All you have is a CV littered with dead joes. – Taverner
Well, I’m not sure your career will survive the death of Hassan Ahmed. But anyway, make your pitch.  I’m sure you’ve got some sweetener to help me neck this absolute bullshit. – Lamb
Sign a statement that tallies with Loy’s and that’ll be the end of it. – Taverner
Oh you mean the end of me. – Lamb
You’d be fired, but no charges. And enough of a pension to keep you in single malts. A heavily redacted file will state that you were thinking out loud and Black went rogue – Taverner, seen looking at her nails… again … very nonchalant about the entire proposal.
When’s Tierney get back? I mean, I’d love to run all this by her.  – Lamb
Tumblr media
Or we can sit here and watch the slow horses walk in one by one and accept a job back here at the Park, while you fester in the  basement until all this is cleared up, which I can make last a very long time.  … And if you get lonely, I can always send Standish down. The treason charge against her will be resurrected, and this time I can make it stick. – Taverner.  The last part send in a lower tone of voice, definitely intended to insinuate feelings between Lamb and Standish.  Taverner is sat back, quite intent on looking relaxed during these threats.
Lamb is seen vaguely nodding… sighs… and then quickly moves to get up.
Taverner is seen immediately moving back as if threatened by him / his movements toward her.
Lamb scratches his butt and stands in front of Taverner, with complete lack of regard.
Bomb threat – Cartwright breaks into the Park – steals the Fiasco File – Taverner is bested in her own office.
_____
As always, really appreciative of any other insight, thoughts, feelings that you're willing to share!! ♥

A little preview of my wip Ghostflower fic. Though I dont think it counts as ghostflower and leans more to just Gwiles. Specifically Earth!42- Miles and Gwen. I think there should be a separate dynamic for them respectively. Their personalities are kinda reversed. Miles is the one that's more broody and angsty, while Gwen is an adorable sunshine that can roast your ass like the sun. And she's still got that edge to her. Of course 😌
But AGSPSKFLGKGJD Y'ALL TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK?
---------
New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothing you can’t do.
All right, I am only doing this just this one time. My name is Miles Gonzalo Morales. I used to wonder why my dad didn’t put Davis as my last name on the birth certificate. He told me it’s because he just doesn’t want it to get in the way of making my own name for what he did in the past. Said he and my uncle used to get into some shaaaady business here and there. For all his insistence to erase the past and never look back, I find myself doing things backwards. Because all I be doing right now is get caught up in the past. Trying my damnedest to right it. To give meaning to it.
Fisk still has his sights on being Mayor. His campaign pitch was a load of bull. Everyone knows the villains that run around the city wreaking havoc was in cahoots with him to get the people running as far away from this city as possible. His vision of being a livable safe New York in which he put up in honor of his late wife Vanessa Marianna and son Richard Fisk sounded like an empty promise. If anything, he was hellbent on making an unlivable New York. His grief spreading its reach to drive people away. It tends to do that to a man. In that aspect I can empathize for him.
But what stops me from pitying the fool is that he’s going on driving away families who wish for a new start in the big apple. As well as people who established the roots here since opportunity was promised in the land of the free. Hiking up housing prices. Creating noise and riots on the street.
I could move forward If I wanted to.
If I did move forward me and my mami would’ve been living peacefully in Puerto Rico right now with my maternal grandparents.
If I did move forward, I wouldn’t be sticking out for the city that granted my dad countless opportunities no matter how much he messed up.
If I did move forward, I wouldn’t be giving my dad justice for all the things he has fought for this city. His death would have been in vain.
If I did move forward, no one would’ve stood up to the likes of Fisk.
No one would’ve had the guts to go against him.
And the only one that could do that was someone above the law. Someone who runs under the cloak of the night. Someone who could portray the villain if they needed someone to be angry at. Someone who turned Fisk’s attention away from grabbing every silver lining left in this city to cling on to.
If I did move forward. I wouldn’t be the Prowler.
And if I hadn’t taken up the role of the prowler… I wouldn’t have seen what my dad, my mami, my uncle wanted me to look forward to.
Sunshine breaking through a dark sky. A city burned alight with a new hope. A blue eyed angel flashing me a bright smile.
Just as New York can be greedy, as it takes, and takes, and takes. It also gives, and gives, and gives.
It’s okay to look back in the past. But it’s also important to not get hung up with it that you won’t be able to see the new day in front of you. It’s called New York for a reason ain’t it? Just because one bad thing happened doesn’t mean life stops there.
You wanna know how I got here? Let me take you back to the time when life stopped for me.

I'm actually in love with the Billy kidnapps baby Sam and Tara AU.
How would Sam and Tara's personality change by growing up with Billy? Is he still ghostfacing? Is he still obsess over Sydney? Is Stu or Mrs Loomis still alive?!
I think things mostly go pretty much the same as canon (1-4), only that Billy never got shot in the head, he managed to escape.
Mrs Loomis wants revenge on Sidney not for killing her boy, but for ruining his life and his reputation because now he's on the run. Maybe Sidney spent all that time thinking maybe he had just died in a ditch somewhere, forgotten and unfound, but now she's got confirmation that Billy's alive, and that's what forces her into the isolation we see in 3. Maybe Roman even knows, maybe he gives Sidney a snide Billy sends his regards. Maybe when the Ghostface attacks happen in 4, she's convinced it's Billy.
Billy takes a long time to heal, alone in some abandoned shack on the outskirts of Woodsboro, hidden in the trees on long-abandoned land. He reaches out to his mother, he reaches out to his father, he reaches out to Roman. Only one of them responds, only one of them helps him. He's been abandoned by his family, but Roman was abandoned by his too, he understands him, he helps Billy get back on his feet. He even becomes like a brother to him. It just gives Roman more fuel to his hatred of Sidney Prescott.
Billy meanwhile, he's kind of tired. His body heals, but his mind stays tired, especially after Roman's death. He didn't feel better for killing Maureen, his family still stayed broken. He didn't feel better for any of those he killed, just angrier and angrier. Stu, his mother, the lunatic she hired, now Roman... it's very sexy of her, he thinks, but he's not going after Sidney Prescott again. He's no desire to get himself killed, and he's not an idiot, the odds are stacked against him. She's got a death count as high as his.
Roman names Samuel Carpenter, the man who is like a brother to me, in his will. With cropped hair dyed black and a beard, he's unrecognisable. He begins life again. One day he's bored and goes looking through the abandoned contents of what remains of Roman's effects. He finds a box of files, Roman's research. He skims through it all, feeling something like nostalgia. Inside, he finds a birth certificate for one Samantha Carpenter born May 1997 to Christina Carpenter. It feels like fate.
Billy's hardly some upstanding moral man now, he has no problem with killing, and enjoys it. But he's not going out of his way to do it. He's worked too hard to forge a new identity, he's not going to put himself at risk. Not now there's no one left to help him pick himself back up.
So, anyway, this AU has two paths. There's 'Uncle Sam' path, or there's Billy takes the girls' path. I'm leaning towards Uncle Sam path being the better one, but let's take a look at the other one.
Billy tells Christina to sit down. It's authoritative. He leans back and makes himself comfortable on the couch as Christina perches herself on the armchair, Sam, frowning, hovering beside her, glancing between her mother, her sister, and the intruder. He observes them, watches as Christina slaps away Samantha's hand as she tries to take the fussing baby back. He laughs and tells the woman to give the girl the baby. It wasn't a suggestion, and the deer-in-headlights look she shoots him reveals she knows it. She hands it over. The baby stops fussing, and his daughter softens. He pats the couch beside him, telling Samantha to come here. She sends a nervous look to her mother, and she gives a stilted nod. He pulls the girl into his side, wrapping an arm around her, and tells Christina to tell their daughter the truth. She shakes her head, and begs him no, but he tuts at her, unamused. Tell her the truth, or I will… and you won’t like the way I will. So, Christina reveals the truth, that her father isn’t her father. Billy makes Sam go upstairs, tells her to pack a bag for herself… and her sister. Christina leaps up at that, gets angry, tells him that he can’t just take her. He asks her what kind of loving mother leaves a baby home alone. He sees the way Sam curls herself further around the baby as he speaks the words. Samantha is my daughter, she continues, and oh, it hits him, she wasn’t even talking about the baby. If he hadn’t have already made up his mind, he would have made it then. He tells Sam to go upstairs once again, and this time she does, leaving her mother to argue with the man who calls himself her father. She’s scared and confused and crawls into her bed with her sister, taking comfort in the way she doesn’t understand anything that’s going on around her, just happy to be with Sam. Billy comes upstairs a little while later, smiling. He smells kind of funny now, and there’s red on his t-shirt, was it red before? Together they pack. He puts it all on the backseat of her mother’s car, and has her sit in the front with her sister on her lap. He drives them away.
Wildly enough, this is actually one of the most well-adjusted timelines that Sam & Tara can have, as I've decided Billy isn't just going around Ghostfacing up the place. Sam will still have a bit of a breakdown at the realisation of who her father is- was at some point (the news surrounding the 2011 attacks), but she's had years with this man, seen who he is with her own eyes, seen how he is with her sister. She struggles to merge the two men in her head. Tara gets a well-adjusted and stable childhood where she's cared for.
Billy's definitely a no judgement kinda parent, who encourages anger and retaliation and smart thinking. He's not the type to encourage them to hurt others, but he will certainly provide advice and help, and he doesn't not encourage it either. Just reminds his girls not to draw attention to themselves. Sam still ends up mostly raising her sister because Billy knows shit all about kids, but he does patiently listen and take instruction from Sam on how to do things, so it's not like a total lost cause.
Tara never knows any parent other than her father (as Sam), and knows nothing of the mother than abandoned them. She doesn't know about Billy, until...
One day, Tara is home alone when someone in a Ghostface mask breaks in and nearly kills her. Someone knows the truth about Billy.

A different sort of man
III
Gif by @crackshipandcrap
Tumblr media
The business side is similar, but very different.
The house was different as well, all done with the strange elegance and mysterious charm of its lady.
They were wealthier, Miss. Smith had come with a dowry worthy of a queen and her portion of her family’s shipping company.
They had a boy, Charles Henry, named after his uncle and her late father, and five or six months older than his son. He was dark haired, blue eyed and had his mother’s freckles sprinkled over the bridge of his little nose.
This one was truly his, no doubts at all. Charlie had his mother’s eyes and Clive Macmillan’s last name.
Grace had refused to let his name be on the birth certificate, their affair swept under the rug because she wants the approbation of people who laugh at her from behind their hands.
“Does your family like me?” he asks the witch who looks full of life and love even in the photographs on his desk.
“Mixed bag, some of the more uptight ones think you’re new money trash and English ---my grandfather was a proud Irishman and my grandmother is from old money--- , some quite like you as a person.” Eva answered as she wrote down most of the codes to the safes. “I would ask if the Burgess-Caron clan like you, but I know those type of people and won’t bother asking you to confirm.”
Grace’s family didn’t even let people know they were Irish, moving to London and other parts in England the first chance they got.
“What happened to Grace in this future?” he finds himself asking.
He was curious what happened to the woman who had made him so weak and vulnerable that he went back to her.
“Dead, she made too many enemies and was shot to death in New York. I would feel bad for her, but she tried to have me killed for ratting her out, so.” Eva said with a shrug.
Her loathing of his wife was oddly charming.
Come to think of it, no woman he knew actually liked Grace.
“I should warn you, there is no version of your wife that lives past 1925.” Eva sobered up suddenly as she pulled a book from a sofa. “Danny Owens’ widow paid a great deal to curse her, married to you or no, she won't live to see spring, I’m sorry, Thomas.”
“Don’t be, Polly told me the same. Said Grace reeked of death since the day she saw her at the Garrison.” He was resigned to it, sure it would pain him, but no witch he visited could undo the curse.
The only thing you can do is make her happy in the little time she has left, the last one had warned.
Even then, Thomas was failing at that.
Tumblr media
“Who is Eva?” Grace asks hiding her jealousy rather poorly.
How do you say the woman I am married to in a different life who got drunk and fucked around with magic last night?
“A woman with a shipping company and an affinity for witchcraft, used to live in Watery Lane. Sent Polly to sweeten the pot and see if we can get in her good books.” He lied smoothly.
“You promised to trust me, Thomas.” Grace warned looking close to tears.
Did he promise her that? Sounds like a lie.
Much like the supposed love they share.
He had asked Polly if he knew why he loved Grace, and even she couldn’t seem to find an answer to it.
With Eva, he knew why he loved her. Polly had even known before they did.
There was no substance to them, this Tommy and Grace.
Nothing beyond physical touch and empty words like it had been when they first met.
God, this Thomas has a miserable life.
“Had a dream about her, I remembered her family’s company is the second largest in the Atlantic and crazy enough to invest in mine if I play my cards right.” He had been relieved to know Eva did exist here, that her family’s company was real and that even here she is friendly with Linda.
“You said she was your wife and had a son five months older than Charles.” She said pointedly.
“Are you jealous of something I dreamed up while I was drunk, love?” he plays the sort of in love husband and tries to see if he can get her to dismiss this all as nonsense.
He doesn’t get to hear an answer because then Mary comes with a letter.
If you want me so badly, come meet me yourself.
-E.

Oela Klondottir Jouea Maris sat on a bench just outside of the Western Gate of Ajax Elevator, where it emptied out onto Phoenix City's broad decumanus, and chewed a russet brick of dense gel stamped with a brief prayer to her good health. It was the sort of thing any citizen was entitled to if they presented their ration card at a government dispensary, and she could certainly afford better - Jouea Maris was seventh-seniormost traffic director for Ajax System and her stipend, from which she regularly sent her clone generous portions, was considerable - but she had found early in life that she quite liked the taste and texture of compacted brine shrimp paste and algae, at least on warm and sunny days like this, where orange-gold sunlight gleamed on every cobblestone and mica tile. Oela finished her lunch, tossing the chitosan packaging into the refuse receptacle next to her, and turned her attention to the Western Gate, its pillars carved in a dizzying tangle of gods and auspicious beasts (winged lions, winged horses, winged sphynges, mercifully wingless fish from whose mouths issued forth ten thousand precious things to bless the world), and then to the people passing through it: student cadres and throngs of workers on their sabbaticals, itinerant monks in grey Recusant robes, miners and Citadel-dwellers who peered everywhere with their insectile arrays of sensory augments, not caring one whit if they looked like tourists. The tallest woman she had ever seen exited the gate, wearing a long white jacket with flared sleeves and, under it - Oela felt herself blush - nothing but a bright red subligaculum with the areoglyph Olympus Mons printed in eye-searingly reflective blue-violet on a bulge so large she wondered if it was perhaps padded. The woman turned around after a few long strides and looked back through the gate, where a somehow even taller woman wearing a black jacket with similarly flared sleeves over a much more modest green-brown sarong walked over to meet her. The two of them strode down the street together, admiring the city gods, until they stopped in front of a massive statue of the Azure Maiden. Of course. They were Martian, just as most of the original colonists had been who brought the Azure Maiden with them when they left for Ajax in their great arks, and though her cult had declined in popularity over the millennia, the New Year Ceremony still included an invocation of her graces, as did birth and death certificates, and Oela knew that many of her rituals were still practiced among the shepherds of the southern continent. And, as she looked westward down the street, one of those shepherds was coming now, walking a few hesitant paces at a time and glancing back and forth between his enchiridion and his surroundings. He wore a coat of red-brown wool wrapped around his waist like a lungi, and his long straight hair was pinned above his head with salt-glazed ceramic hairpins. The taller of the two women spotted him and waved an arm, and he hurried over to them both, throwing his acid-scarred arms around the one in the subligaculum (though they only came to just above her hips, and his face was buried in her belly) and then turning to the other, who scooped him up in her arms like a cat and kissed both his cheeks. Oela wondered idly how they knew each other and why they were dressed so strangely - the southerner had to be sweating beyond comfort despite having stripped his coat from his shoulders, it was well over thirty-five degrees celsius, and as for the shorter woman, it wasn't unheard of for citizens to walk around nude here at the equator but her attire seemed deliberately obscene despite being technically less revealing.

Figured it was safe to post this little darling because I honestly don’t know if I’m going to include her in the story or not.
Tumblr media
Meet Phoenix Nansui! And buckle up, because her backstory is kind of tragic.
This kind of plays into my Elemental Masters AU. In this AU, Xander falls in love with a woman (no, not revealing her just yet 😈), but both of them are fatally wounded during a tragic battle. As they both died, Xander’s Element of Fire took pity on them and ensured that their love will endure forever. It left Xander’s body with his last breath and burned their fresh corpses together, then breathed new life into the ashes. Those ashes became a beautiful baby girl.
The other Masters were devastated when they learned of the demise of Xander and his one true love. So much so that when the topic of who would take in the baby they apparently “created” came up, almost no one stepped forward. The loss of their big brother was too traumatic, too crippling. On top of that, neither Xander nor his lover had any family that would willingly take a newborn in. It was looking as if the new baby would remain an orphan.
That is, until Yugo Nansui stepped forward. He was Xander’s right hand man, he reasoned, so it was only fair that he take in what he’d left behind. The others were surprised that he of all people offered to take in the baby, but no one said anything against him.
So Yugo officially adopted the baby. He named her Phoenix, saying it was only fitting, given her birth. Xander’s flesh and blood was now his to raise and protect.
Yugo swore on Xander’s altar to do so with his life.
Extra Info
- To officiate the adoption, since both of her parents were dead, Yugo gave Phoenix his last name. Ukyo came along one day to help out and saw the adoption certificate. Here’s what happened:
Ukyo: Oh, so you gave her your last name?
Yugo: Yup. She’s mine now.
Ukyo: Interesting. May I also have your last name?
Yugo: WHHHHHHHAAAAAAA???
(Yup, Yukio for life! 💚💙)
So they both decide to look after what their team captain left behind.
- Raising a baby is not easy, and Phoenix was on a whole other level. It became clear early on that she’d inherited her father’s brute strength. From the moment she learned how to grasp things, she was already able to lift items that one would think impossible at her meager age. Toys, sticks, rocks - even other toddlers.
Yugo and Ukyo have had to apologize to so many horrified mothers…
As she continues to grow (growth spurt at 11, obvi), so does her strength. Pray for her dads.
- She also inherited her father’s sharp teeth, and her teething phase was a nightmare. A lot of chewed furniture and fingers…
- Phoenix appears to have vitiligo, which is the explanation Yugo and Ukyo give everyone else who asks. It’s certainly better than telling them the truth: it’s her birth parents’ skin fused together.
- Her right eye is her mother’s, and her left eye is her father’s.
- She refers to Yugo as “Daddy” (later as “Dad”), Ukyo as “Papa”, and Xander, when he comes up in the conversation, as “Father”.
- She would have worn a shirt more similar in appearance to her father’s crop top, but there was no way Yugo was letting her out of the house dressed like that.
- In certain lighting and wind patterns, her hair kind of looks like fire.
- As time goes on, the other Masters start to accept Xander’s death and make attempts to get to know his daughter. It’s not easy at first, as she looks strikingly similar to both her father and her mother, and they don’t take their first encounters with her very well. Phoenix thinks that looking at her is what’s making them sad, so she attempts to cover up her face with things like mud and masks. Upon seeing how far this innocent child would go to make sure they weren’t sad, the Masters start to make a better commitment to get to know her for who she was.
- Phoenix is kind of like Steven from Steven Universe. Both were “created” from a parent (both parents, in Phoenix’s case), but both are their own person. Not to mention, they’re both descended from pretty powerful bloodlines.
Also like Steven, Phoenix is aware of her birth parents’ fates and their roles in her creation. She goes through a period where she doesn’t know where “her parents” end and “she” begins, both physically and mentally. Don’t worry, she gets through it with some counseling.
- Phoenix’s last name may be Nansui, but she is still the rightful heir to the Shakadera family and all of its assets. Right now a branch family is in command of everything, but when she is old enough, she will have the chance to claim her rights to it. Her dads train her everyday for when that chance comes.
- She is also the next Master of Fire, and once she awakens her Element, she will be brought to the Monastery of Spinjitzu to train with the others of her generation.
I’ve had this little darling in mind for a while, and I’m so happy to finally have a reference photo for her! Once again, I’m still not sure if I’ll include her in the story or not, but she’s still a fun concept to have!

because i was a young kid surrounded by all the women in my family who had careers teaching language i would come across the weirdest fucking books in my library that i would read out of pure boredom and that is how i came to be weirdly well read for my age.
here are some of the books that i read which i wouldnt have expected to read and yet i did.
Tumblr media
paris never ends
an autobiographical account of an artist who studied in paris in the seventies. the guy talks a lot about the artistic scene in paris in the times of hemmingway and gertrude stein. i have no idea how i got through it all but i somehow did
Tumblr media
the locked room
a book about the life of a man who, after his best friend dissapears, becomes the inheritor of his works and starts publishing them, afterwards he becomes obsessed with the guy and starts trying to find him again
Tumblr media
princess casamassima
a book about a young man, i think a revolutionary, who becomes infatuated with an aristocrat lady and who gets his heart broken by her. this one is particularly baffling because i remember this book being boring as shit and yet i couldnt stop reading it in the hopes that something interesting would happen, i think i read this thing at a time i didnt have internet
Tumblr media
a perfect day
a depressing book with an ambiguously depressing ending. a very italian book, which with me being argentinian it was like reading abou my second cousins. it really well written and all the different plots come together fascinatingly so but again, sad ending. at the time it left me really angry
Tumblr media
go fast, run far
a fascinating little crime thriller with lots of personality and charisma about a serial killer who kills by bringing back the black plague. it brushes on fantasy and a bit of sci fi a little, but only very slightly.
Tumblr media
all the names
i read A LOT of saramago because my mom and my grandma were obssesed with the guy. i read essay on blindness, its sequel essay on lucidity and the gospel according to jesus christ. each one a master piece, saramago, next to borges, is probably one of my favourite "literary" authors. all the names is particularly fascinating because of how boring it sounds at a first brush. a guy working at the civil registry of births and deaths comes across the file of a young woman and he becomes obsessed with her, to the point that once he sees her death certificate he snaks into his own offices at night to change the file back to make her stay alive. the way its all descrived is so engrossing and absorbing that you cannot put the book down
Tumblr media
the words
i discovered sartre first as a philosopher and at the time (12 years old) he was my favourite philosopher by far. existentialism is very seductive to a teenager. it wasnt until much later that i rediscovered him as a novelist and playwright with the cog. but it was this book in particular the swept me off my feet. he descrives his own chilhood as a nerdy shy introverted kid obsessed with jules verne, as a nerdy, shy introverted kid obsessed with jules verne myself i fell in love with this book instantly. it was the first time i truly realized that people from very different countries and very different time periods can form a powerful connection based on their shared humanity.
Tumblr media
the tunnel
not much to say here, it is a very simple book about an obsessive old man (im starting to notice a pattern here) written by one of argentina's most popular authors ernesto sabato. i remember it being easy to read but i forgot basically all of it
Tumblr media
the invention of morel
a surprisingly engaging science fiction. you know how you will see stuffy old books in your mom's library and they are from some obscure latin american writer and you are like "it will probably be some impenetrable rummiation on life tinged with magical realism elements"? well this is not that type of book, a great, straight forward mystery science fiction novel. incredibly entertaining and with a fantastic twist at the end

noone writes to the colonel
another fantastically boring book, only beat in terms of sheer fucking mindnumbing boredom by hemmingways the old man and the sea. nothing fucking happens and the nothing that doesnt happen is descrived with the spark and the enthusiasm of a cracker dipped in room temperature water. the only interesting thing in the entire book is the very last sentence and its not worth it.

the adventures of greenbeard
now this book on the other hand is a fucking blast. imagine the superhero genre filtered through the thickest, most whimsical layer of sheer latin american magical realism. its a very silly and fun book. it plays with the concept of the super villain, the mad scientist, the intrepid reporter, the dashing hero and the action scene in ways that pay no heed to the conventions of the genre and does its own unique thing instead. perhaps a bit too cute by half and the gender and sex politics of it are a bit... uh, confusing? but regardless some of the most fun i had reading a book in my life

stories of cronopios and famas
finishing this list with the biggest classic here, i dont think i need to introduce cortazar to you guys. a fantastically funny, endearing and whimsical examination of the strange creatures known as cronopios, famas and esperanzas. i should also mention the other books of his i enjoyed instruction manual and the astronauts of the cosmoroute
conclussion:
im glad i read these books, even the ones that i didnt like, im glad i got to expand my horizons and get a wider perspective on what literature and stories can be. im genuenly kind of proud of myself that i actually was willing to go this far outside my comfort zone and pleasantly surprised that i had the capacity to do so.

Hello! I am very intrigued by your headcanons towards Death Note characters since I read your post about your Light's ones. So I wanted to ask what are your headcanons about L and Ryuk??
Ooo I haven't thought much about those two in terms of headcanons.
I'll start with Ryuk because I have a few more on hand for him, just because they tie into my Shinigami lore hcs :3
☠️ -Ryuk used to be human once! All Shinigami save for Nu and the King used to be human. Now my personal headcanon for that is that you have to kill a certain amount of people before you can become a Shinigami, and the Shinigami realm is rotten and dying because they just don't make killers like they used to :/ Ryuk is the youngest of them, and he made the cut because he was an arsonist! :D As a human Ryuk was a punk, a highly insane anarchist with a taste for gunpowder and blood. He blew up so many buildings with people inside that he made the cut for Shinigami-dom.
☠️ -An add-on to the above and a slight spoiler for Cosmic Entities, Ryuk the Human was killer on the guitar. His riffs were fucking amazing, and he rocked with a lot of underground artists before he overdosed and died. Of course when he became a Shinigami he forgot about all of that, but if he ever, say, regained a human body, he might remember a bit of it :3
☠️ -Ryuk's highly addictive personality is half a leave over from his human life, and half because of how young of a Shinigami he is. The older a Shinigami is the more apathetic they get—which is why I headcanon Kinddara as fairly young too, because she has a LOT of bloodlust rattling around in her. A lot. Gelus and Rem aren't young, persay, but they're definitely not as old as they others given that they both fell for Misa. Whiiich brings me to my next headcanon!
☠️ - Ryuk is asexual! :D And aromantic. He was ace when he was human too, but they didn't really have a name for it back when he was alive so he never labelled it. And as a Shinigami, he just assumed that other Shinigami ALSO didn't feel those urges because, you know, they're Shinigami. Ryuk still gets attached to people even as a Shinigami (I headcanon his relationship with Light as queerplatonic in every universe and you will pry that from my cold dead hands) and he's not really sex-repulsed, he would just honestly rather have an apple.
☠️ -Case in point: Ryuk gets depressed after Light dies. He gets the reputation as a storyteller because...well, that's kind of all he does after that whole Kira mess ends. (That Shinigami from the relight is NOT Light I will fight you on that—) He reminisces about it like a war veteran and tells anyone that asks anything they want to know about the various Kiras and Light. Especially Light. He's very proud of Light. Ryuk doesn't seem to even be interested in the human world afterward, nor in playing or gambling with his fellow Shinigami. He seems more resigned to his boredom than before. Almost like he's grieving someone. Huh...
🍰 -L'S TURN: I have multiple contradictory headcanons for how L ended up with Watari, but my most realistic one is that his mother died directly after giving birth, but she was a bit of Jane Doe. The only thing she had with her was a messenger bag with a worn French book and a map of the area in it. Since she died before she could name her child, the hospital staff looked through her stuff and found the initials L.L. written on the inside of the book, so one of the nurses just wrote that down on the birth certificate, along with the first word she found on one of the pages. It was in the woman's bag, so it was obviously important to her, right? Maybe she'd like her child named after her favorite novel. Buuut half of the first name smudged and left the kid with a singular letter L instead of actual initials. Oops. The matrons at the orphanage don't have time to worry about shit like that so the singular letter stuck. Congrats kid, that L no longer stands for anything, you're a part of the alphabet now 🫡
🍰 -L definitely pulled a Tom Riddle in his first orphanage and stole literally everything he could get his hands on. If a kid argued with him or tried to tell on him he would beat them up. He was that quiet kid in the corner of the room, eating everyone's candy from that generous man that passed by the day before because they didn't defend it or hide it well enough. And L was definitely a biter as a kid, so get to close to his little thief corner and you'll walk away with teeth marks in your fucking arm or leg or face. Around the matrons, however, L was—well, not normal, but he definitely didn't bully the other kids around them because they'd grab him and drag him around and crack his hands with a ruler, and even at a young age he knew that he couldn't win in a fight with someone that much bigger than him.
🍰 -L also knows plenty of foraging hacks from his time as an orphan. His original orphanage was on the outskirts of the city, so he got very good at learning which plants were edible by watching the forest animals and identifying them on his own. So when winter came along and food got scarce, L had little pouches and cups of dried flowers and berries and roots hidden in his room to eat. Like hell this little glutton is going to stick to his assigned rations—are you nuts? It's survival of the fittest out there 😤
🍰 -As a consequence of the above, L grew to really like rabbits. He watched them a lot to learn which plants he could eat and eventually got really hyperfixated on the idea of the idea of trying to catch one. He'd go out and hide and wait for the rabbits to show up, and then chase them. He had to get more creative when they proved to be faster than him, and eventually he set up a trap and caught one. L managed to keep it as a pet for about a week before the caretakers found out and made him get rid of it. Which was honestly just as well; L was nearing his limit with his rabbit fixation and eventually he would've started to neglect it.
🍰 -The book L's mother brought into the hospital was one of his only non-stolen possessions growing up, but because it was written in French, L had to learn French in order to read it. And he did. By the time L was seven years old he was pretty much bilingual—one of the reasons he caught Quillish's attention as a little prodigy. L learns languages quickly, but only when he's interested, so he might learn five languages in rapid succession or he might procrastinate learning another language for two years. By the time he hits sixteen he's fluent in nine different languages. He stalls at around thirteen when he's twenty and doesn't really see the need to pick up anymore.
🍰 -At one point, Quillish attempted to force L into healthier eating habits by only giving him healthy foods, but this backfired spectacularly because L threw a fit and refused to eat any of it. Quillish didn't want to back down though, so he told L that if he didn't want to eat what was in front of him then he could go hungry. And because is L is a petty bastard and runs on quick fuel sugar, it didn't take him long to pass the fuck out after a day of refusing to eat the bullshit Quillish locked him in with. Quillish tries this three more times before giving up and just sneaking vegetables into his sweets. When L is older, they have a long conversation (argument) about it and eventually L begrudgingly agrees to replace at least a quarter of his sweets with fruit—sweet enough for him to tolerate but healthy enough to appease Quillish. Hence the banana scene that everyone loves :)
