1. What is your favorite relationship type to write/read? Romantic, platonic, familial, and any subtypes.
I like romantic relationships that donāt rely solely or primarily on physical attraction, but instead on a deep similarity between the two characters. I like when two people meet eyes and realize thatĀ āYou understand me. You get me better than anyone else Iāve ever met, and I feel less lonely knowing that someone else sees the world the same way I do.ā
2. How much or what kind of research do you do for your fiction? If you donāt write, has a fic ever made you curious enough to research something?
Only as much as is necessary. I usually use research as a springboard for inspiration when I hit a block, letting myself wander the fields of Wikipedia until I stumble upon something that knocks the block loose.
Of course, sometimes I research stuff just for fun, with no relation to my writing whatsoever, until some random point down the line where it suddenly does and Iām super happy I already know [Random Fact #237].
3. What was the first work of fiction you remember becoming completely engrossed in?
Hmm. Probably Animorphs. I remember doing everything I could to hunt down the numerous books in the series (back in the ancient, pre-Amazon Prime days). Iād prowl the various school and public libraries near me, ask for specific books in the series for Christmas and birthdays, and even buy the occasional book at the yearly Scholastic Book Fairs, using what little money I got for an allowance.
I made it most of the way through the series, but then there was one book, near the end, that I couldnāt find, no matter how hard I looked. And it was an important, plot-changing, book that I had to read before continuing. Which meant I never actually finished the series.
Of course, nowadays you can find them all online as pdfs. Maybe I should revisit the series sometime and finally finish it. I already know how it ends, but I still feel like those last few books deserve to be read.
4. What work(s) had a lasting influence on you or your writing style?
Going back to Animorphs again. There is a straight-line connection between me reading that series as a child, through my elementary school friends Brooke, who was obsessed with dogs, and Caitlin, who was even more obsessed with dolphins (I used to find pictures of dolphins in magazines and cut them out just to give to her), through my Grandmaās love of science, all the way to my decision to study Zoology in college. If I had never read those books, I wouldnāt have developed the passion for animals and animal behavior that has shaped my life for over two decades.
Also, stylistically speaking, I really respect that series for how it treated its readers. Its target audience was grade schoolers, and yet it never shied away from showing the realities of violence and war. I donāt know that Iāll ever write childrenās literature, but Iāll always have this series to remind me of what kids are capable of understanding and handling.
5. What kind of sound environment do you prefer for writing/reading? Silent, white noise, music with/without words, sitting in a public place with the ambient noise of humanity, etc.
Depends on how well my brain is cooperating. Pure silence is ideal, but more often than not thereās some manner of song stuck on repeat in the background of my mind, and the only way to drown it out is with non-lyrical music of some sort. Usually I try to pick songs that match the mood of whatever scene Iām trying to write.
6. Are you or do you like authors who are teases, in story or out?
ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ Iām a big fan of the Death of the Author trope, so I tend not to get too worked up by whatever the author may be saying and just let the story speak for itself.
My first instinct is to say that an author shouldnāt worry too much about what their fans think and should write the story they want to write, and it will find readers that appreciate it. However, I recognize that the nature of serial online writing, such as fanfiction, changes the game a bit. Such authors have a much more immediate, direct connection with their readers than authors who release one or two physical books every year or so. Some authors take that to an extreme, turning stories almost into a dialogue with their readers, each new chapter in some way defined by how people reacted to the previous one. And that doesnāt even touch on Quests, a type of story on forums sites such as SpacebattlesĀ and Sufficient Velocity that require player input on a regular basis to continue. In these types of situations, I can hardly blame an author for playing with their readers heads a bit. The reactions they have can be a form of entertainment all their own.
7. Have you ever experienced a āthe characters write themselvesā or ācharacter rebellionā mental state?
Not yet. For the time being, I remain in complete control of my universes, but I recognize the hubris of assuming this to be a permanent state.
8. Do you have a favorite franchise crossover? Like Bleach/Harry Potter, Madoka Magica/Card Captor Sakura, etc.
I donāt know if I have a particular favorite. I was really fond of Secret Trio for a while, which is Danny Phantom, American Dragon Jake Long, and Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja. Iām still very fond of the Disney/Square Enix megacrossover that is Kingdom Hearts, despite being very disappointed in the most recent game in the series. Then thereās Kinoās Journey/Anything, mostly because I love Kinoās Journey, and I love seeing her response/reaction to various other worlds.
Also, Stargate/Anything. The only reason I ever started watching the show was because Iād read several different fics, all in different fandoms (Avatar, Yu-Gi-Oh, Star Wars, Naruto), and all of which crossed over with Stargate. Despite the similarities, both being sci-fi stories set around the turn of the millennium involving mind-controlling aliens, Iāve yet to see a good Stargate/Animorphs crossover. Itād be pretty easy to do, too. Thereās a point in the Animorphs series where they decide to bring knowledge of their guerrilla war to the attention of the US government. If theyāre already in the Stargate universe, Iām sure the president will quickly pass the problem along to the experts, and suddenly youāve got the perfect setup of adults who think they know how to handle the problem, are mostly right, and donāt want kids fighting in a war, vs child soldiers who have no intention of giving up the fight so near its end, even if the adults are more competent than they expected.
Iām gonna have to write it myself, one of these days, if no one else gets around to doing it.
9. Do you remember anything about the first fanfic you ever read?
Two Halves by DameWren. My first fandom was Naruto, and my first fanfic was a NaruHina fic that both introduced me to the concept of fandom, and also sold the ship for me in a way that Iāve never shaken. I remember very little beyond that, except that it managed to correctly predict that Naruto would go on a training trip, despite being written before such an event happened in canon.
10. Is there a work of fiction that you are annoyed doesnāt have much if any fic? Like Bizenghast.
Kinoās Journey, Cowboy Bebop, Double Arts (just never got enough attention in general)
11. What fictional character do you strongly identify with?
Weiss Schnee, from RWBY. While Iāve never been accused of being rich, I am a middle child with a much older sister that cut ties with the family when I was young and a younger brother that I never got along with while growing up. My parents were also abusive, my father physically and both of them emotionally, and they taught me a number of unhealthy ideas about race, amongst other things, that Iāve had to put serious effort into unlearning. And I have, since becoming an adult, traveled long distances across the world, partially for my own benefit, and partially to distance myself physically from a family Iāve never felt particularly close to, resulting in a drastic personality shift that took a couple years to complete, but ultimately left me a very different, and much better, person.
So, yeah, Weiss is basically my favorite RWBY character, and one I really need to write more often, all things considered.
That was fun! Iāve never been tagged in anything like this before. My turn for questions!
1. What is your the most recent fandom youāve gotten involved in? Have you made any content for it?
2. Do you have a favorite AU/plotline that you love regardless of fandom (ie. Peggy Sue, Coffee Shop AU, Space AU, Self-Insert)? What about it do you like?
3. If you write, how do you go about deciding a characterās sexuality? If not, do you ever have any sexuality headcanons for characters?
4. Whatās the longest fanfic that youāve ever read, beginning to end?
5. How often do you make something youāre proud of? Doesnāt have to be writing, just has to be something that wouldnāt exist if you hadnāt made it yourself.
6. What are your opinions on OCs in fanfiction?
7. What is your favorite storytelling medium (ie. television, written word, spoken word, video games, song, etc.)?
8. What was the last song you had stuck in your head, and what was it about?
9. Do you prefer reading/writing stories set in fictional worlds, or stories set in the real world/real world analogous (ie. Supernatural or Marvel Comics)?
10. If you could bring one fictional character into the real world, who would it be and why?
11. Pick your favorite of the questions I was asked to answer for yourself.
I just realized that I donāt know how many of my followers are writers. I guess @hunkygoddess @tmifangirl21 @queendarktigress @ladyvallhalla @i-mushi @xekstrin @shinobicyrus and anyone else who sees this and might be interested. No pressure, itās just for fun!

11 Questions
I got tagged by @pomegranate-belle <3 I'm sorry this took for fucking ever?!!??
Iāll tag @lioness--hart @fox-in-the-library and @whitegodiva if you guys want to do it? And anybody else, obvi <3
1. How long have you been writing?
Actually sitting down to type stories out? Eight years old. I've been making shit up since I could talk. I have it on good authority I am entertaining to listen to.
2. What are the major themes of your current wip(s)? LONG ANSWER
omg I really dont know. I spent several hours over several days banging on this question in my head both in front of the computer and away from it only to come to the horrified realisation that I Don't Know. *gay panic*
I know the things I like to write about. I like to write about free exchange of culture, of mutual respect and fraternity with your fellow humans (which leads to themes of unity, unconditional love not only of people but of the world, and the gray area of what it means to protect those things without giving in to hate, indifference and intolerance. THE GRAY AREA IS WHERE I THRIVE.)
I like to write about intergenerational relationships (which leads to themes of obsolescence, changing of the guard, and how people, in general, not individuals, never really change. Like, there's For a Good Time graffiti on the walls at Pompeii. That is HILARIOUS.)
I write a lot about family, both born and found. (Everybody has a place and everybody is loved.) I write about mental illness and being queer (which all by itself leads to themes of not knowing your place in the world even if you have one. Frequently comes up against the previously mentioned theme)
So yeah. I don't know. My big WIP, the Aalee Rise series, is about a young woman on the cusp of adulthood going out into the world for the first time. It's her idealism vs reality. The other main characters in that cast are all foils re: various facets of societal structure and ideologies. One challenges her idea of government, another her idea of religion. She falls in love, her loyalties to her brother and parents are tested, she makes mistakes, she fights monsters and saves the world. A lot.
tldr; It's my sandbox and I just wanted to build castles in it. I don't really know if the castles will mean anything when I'm done. I hope they do.
3. What do you want people to take away from your story once theyāve read it?
My greatest ambition is that I could ever write a hero as beloved as the heroes I read about growing up, figures that reminds not to give up hope, to get back up when we're down, that the dark times ahead of us will come to pass.
At best, if I've done that, I'll be ecstatic and satisfied.
At worst, as long as you had a good time, if you didn't throw the book across the room in disgust, I'll take it.
4. Would you be excited if people write fanfiction about your wip(s)?
YAAAAS. I would literally never read it because Im terrified of accidentally absorbing someone's ideas and making them my own bc Christ alive that's a legal nightmare, but yes that would make my life.
And you can have my firstborn if you send me fanart.
5. Whatās your go-to writing beverage?
Tea. Really strong and sweet. I make a fresh quart each morning and usually go through it by the end of day.
6. Who is your favorite oc? Tell me about them!
OMG ALL OF MY CHILDREN ARE PRECIOUS. (it's Aalee.)
Aalee Dering is the eighteen-year-old protagonist of my Aalee Rise series. Ā When we meet her in volume one (Worldwalk) she and her twin brother are setting off on their coming-of-age journey around the country. Her people, the Noruahai, have defended humanity for generations from unearthly creatures called asmic, and if she wants to become a licensed Marshal like her famous mother (and wow, she really, really does) she'll have to prove herself on her Worldwalk.
Aalee thinks with her heart first and always. She loves beautiful things, and all things are beautiful to her. She's quick to cry and struggles with anger, as well as distraction; she has trouble keeping focus. Good for getting into trouble. Not so good when it comes to being a responsible adult.
It would probably be easier if she wasn't of two minds on every single decision she has to make. She empathises with everyone, which can be paralysing-- how can she fight someone whose point of view she gets?
7. Do you feel that mistakes are important learning tools in the writing journey?
Mistakes are learning tools of life, darling. In writing they generally aren't the types that will destroy friendships, health, financial status, etc, which means they're generally easier to bounce back from. Unless you commit career suicide in some way...
8. Rank your ocs by their capability in a footchase (either running after or from smth, your choice)
1. Fall from the Aalee Rise series. He's a complicated human. Without getting into the context of the world he's from, he's hard to explain; but the short version is he's half-ghost so he can basically turn himself into the wind.
2. Rosie Frey from Color of the Stars but only when she's a lion. In her human form she's pretty normal.
3. Lynn Blythe (or any of the other vampires) from Echoes of Eden, because they're cheating cheaterfaces who use mystical vampy powers to be stronger and faster than humans
4. Sendmarshal Henley from the Aalee Rise series. Probably the fastest regular human. Imagine the most beautiful, tall, leggy black woman you can, all lean muscle and elegant grace, and now imagine her scooping you up and zipping out of danger with an easy smile on her face... *fans self* I stan.
5. When running headlong into danger to save someone? Aalee Dering. When running away? Frustratingly, satirically slow. She's one of those idiot heroes who stops to make sure everyone got away okay so Fall's always running back to grab her ("MOVE, IDIOT" "But that little old lady--" "FIRE-BREATHING MONSTERS. MOVE.")
9. Does your wip have romance? tell me about it!! if not tell me about a friendship/important relationship in your wip!! MORE LENGTHY BLAH
Relationships are the driving force of my writing. How one loves or is loved by other people, how they relate and engage with others, is how one grows, in real life and in fiction. There are a number of relationships in all my series that I'm fond of for various reasons. (For instance, even though she cannot STAND him, I'm eager af to write Eden and Lynn's relationship in Echoes of Eden because of how complicated it is.)
And as a rule all of my characters are queer or questioning unless otherwise stated, and I ship everybody with basically everybody else, and almost everybody has a love story in their history. (at least, their parents certainly do because I am a gross vile romantic and these fuckers came from somewhere.)
That having been said, for the sake of brevity I'll stick with Aalee Rise and limit myself to the Big Three: Aalee and her brother Elles, Aalee and her best friend Norah, and Aalee and Fall.
FAMILY: Aalee and Elles are twins. Born together and never separated, which stands out in a world where families are broken up by chaotic circumstances and random death on a regular basis. Aalee is easily distracted and has difficulty communicating her thoughts, so she tends to act on impulse; Elles is forever the cool head and the hand grabbing her by the back of the shirt to stop her from walking into danger. And after eighteen years of this... he's tired of it. He loves his sister, but he longs to see the world on his own terms, walk his own path. And Aalee doesn't share that sentiment. Not only doesn't share it, but is blown away when it comes into play. Her partner in crime wants to break away, and she does not take it very well. The first volume (Worldwalk) explores how their relationship suffers, grows, and changes due to this break.
FRIEND: Aalee's best friend of ten years is Norah. They met as little girls in a monster-ravaged town; Norah was entertaining the youngest orphans with a story and Aalee joined in. The pair of them spent a long night keeping civilians from panicking while Marshals battled asmic beyond the walls of the bunker. They exchanged addresses and became penpals over the next few years, since both of their parents travelled and they were rarely in the same place at the same time. That changed suddenly when Norah lost her father. Since then, Norah's family and Aalee's have lived in the same town. Norah is her warm hand in the dark, her shoulder to cry on, the first person she tells any good news. for Norah, Aalee is the only person (at the beginning of the story, anyway) with whom she can be her real whole self. They love each other no matter what.
ROMANCE: And then there's Fall. Aalee meets Fall when she rescues him from being murdered in a back alley-- except, oops, turns out it was a sting operation to catch the killer because he's not actually the helpless filthy vagabond she assumed he was; he's actually a powerful Marshal who was on assignment. Stuck together for various reasons, he becomes a mentor to her on her worldwalk, while she blatantly digs into the mystery of who he is, which turns out to complicate their lives, the lives of their friends and families, randos they happens across, their enemies, and also God's. To say they fall in love with each other is an understatement of cosmic proportions. They choose each other.
10. Do you believe in the advice kill your darlings?
Yeah but I take the advice as intended; which is not, as most assume, kill your fave characters, but to get rid of that which does not work, even if you love it. That pearlescent line of dialogue, or that golden bit of allegory? Doesn't matter how much you love it and how proud of it you are, if it does. not. work. it HAS. TO. GO. (save it in a new file to reread when you feel down and scrap that shit from the main file.)
that said re: killing characters, in my youth I was very much of the George RedRum Martin camp of "KILL THEM ALL" but as Ive gotten older my main focal point has been "What purpose does their death serve?" Death is not the only sacrifice worth writing. So while I am not afraid to kill my characters, I do take the nature of their deaths in the writing very seriously. There has to be a point.
11. Do you prefer plotting or worldbuilding? Why?
WORLDBUILDING MANYEXCLAMATIONPOINTSGOHERE! Plotting is like the maths of writing. It's measurement, it's brickwork, it's demolition when the wall you put up last week is three feet too long and now you have to scrap it and start over. Vital. But not my favorite part.
Worldbuilding is the art. It's the music your OCs hum and the stories that they treasure and the faith that holds them up when the crap you throw at them might tear them down. It's the story behind the jacket they wear and it's the reason they nod to the altar when they enter a place of worship and it's the meaning of their names. It's the magic. How the world works, the little details that make it real to the reader because it's real for your characters, is my favorite part of writing.

for my children::: soph
oUR DAUGHTERFull Name: Sophie OāConnelGender and Sexuality: Female and bisexualPronouns: She/Her/HersEthnicity/Species: IrishBirthplace and Birthdate: She was born on the 6th of September 1996 in Dublin. Guilty Pleasures: I think she has a lot of guilty pleasures, though most of them are rather old family rituals she canāt let go, e.g. decorating the house appropriate for the season. Itās more of a guilty pleasure than a coping mechanism because it doesnāt feel right to herself yet she still does it. Phobias: Sheās terrible afraid of losing whatās left of her family. Sheās afraid sheāll be stuck forever in a more or less depressed phase. And sheās afraid she wonāt find a place for herself in this world. Sheās afraid there is no place for her in it. What They Would Be Famous For: 120 Sheeps From Five Different Countys Went Missing In One Week, Still No Hint Towards The OffenderWhat They Would Get Arrested For: Girl Arrested After Trying To Book An Entire Flight To New Zealand, Then Showing Up With 120 Sheep At The AirportOC You Ship Them With: Not an OC but a canon character (please donāt hit me). I really like her with APH New Zealand/Benjamin Walker how me and my friend dubbed him as human. It started out as a silly idea based on Soph being a sheep maniac as a defining trait back when I created her and ā¦ it kind of stuck through all the character development. Plus, now in the Mafia AU I have to care less for actual relations between the nations, so I can crackship as much as I waaaant as long as it is plausible in THIS universe. Suck iiiiiit. I also like to imagine her and her friend Maeve as a couple, too, though. I donāt know if it would last, but itād be a lovely short, dorky romance OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Harry because Soph ate the last fish sticks they hadI donāt think no one is really keen on murdering her. Yet. Favorite Movie/Book Genre: I think sheās a big fan of high and urban fantasy like her brother, but also likes scifi and adventure stories. As well as animal centered stories and crime novels - She likes something thrilling as long as it isnāt too complicated and responds to one of her interests. Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: I think Soph dislikes a lot of gender related stereotypes. She grew up with men all around her and only a few women and yet the diversity of those man and the strong female rolemodels such as Hannah and Gwen in her family, show her what kind of bullshit traditional gender roles are. Machos without any redeeming emotional features are a no-go for her. Talents and/or Powers: Sheās very good with animals, helpful to other people and hardworking once sheās fired up for a goal. Sheās also very creative when it comes to find alternative solutions for something. Especially later on, sheās also extremely tough, no matter the circumstances. Why Someone Might Love Them: Her big wide grin is so full of life and her booming laughter can make everyone forget their worries temporarily. When she loves someone, she loves them unconditionally. Sheās going to take you with your fuck ups and your weirdness because sheās fucked up and weird herself. Sheās a practical girl that roles up her sleeves and wrestles with sheep to sheer them, who isnāt afraid to get her hands dirty and if that isnāt an incredibly admireable thing, I donāt know. Sheās got a brilliant sense of humour as well, even when itās self-depreciating. If getting fifty blurry pictures of animals sheās seen a day isnāt adorable, I donāt know what is. Why Someone Might Hate Them: Sheās still insecure and depressed as hell and needs as much of a shoulder to lean on as she can provide one. Sheās a loud person and stubborn as well; while considerate of others, she can be very defensive about her opinions. Just like her brother, she can act very thoughtlessly and thus get herself or others into trouble as well as hurting others. How They Change: I think Soph is the character who changes the most throughout the story or at least sheās the one where it is most visible. Soph starts out as insecure teenage girl, who has a vague plan about what she wants to do in live, but struggles to get there on her own. Sheās emotionally dependent on her family and the worries she has regarding her boys consume her daily life, making it very easy for her to slip into depressions and have emotional breakdowns that leave her nerves weak for a very long time. She lacks self-esteem and long-term motivation. Over the course of the series she learns how stand up for herself and chase her own goals instead of waiting for someone who can give them to her instead. She becomes more independent - emotionally as well as in general - and learns to accept herself more, to love herself. Soph goes from a teenager without a plan to young woman who knows what she wants and how sheāll get it. Why You Love Them:I always called Soph a little piece of YA in an otherwise adult story - and I think that is a quite important thing. I love Soph because sheās so young and yet carries as much baggage as the older characters of the series - even when it manifests in more mundane ways. And she pulls through - she doesnāt become closed off and jaded, scared of the world, but instead accepts help and tackles her problems. Sheās so broken and yet she decides to go through the effort of fixing herself thoroughly. Though just putting duct tape on it is how she fixes most other things that are broken. She breaks down, she cries, she is frustrated and yet, she keeps going. She keeps going because she wants to see and get what the world offers to her, she wants to live the life ahead of her. Sheās so strong if you look closer and I love her for it.
#come-home-holy-rome#soph is my baby giiiiirl#i love the o'connels so much in general they have a special spot in my heart#anyone out there who was/is a teenager and deals with mental illnesses knows how hard that shit is#and yet she fights to not become like her brother. not like all the others.#she fights to learn her lesson now#not to sit in front of ruins to rebuild in a few years#she hurts so much to heal#storie nostre#soph

Yet Another OC Meme (50 Q&A)
I'm not sure what the original post was but if anyone knows please tell me so that I can link it to this one. (blame 9th grade me). http://nekotan-chou.tumblr.com/post/120740460331/loi-got-this-from-some-other-post-1-your-first So this is a "yetanotherocmeme" that I did a couple years ago //cries// and I cringe. I cringe heavily. I don't roleplay anymore much less create individual or fan OCs nowadays. This questionnaire will only revolve around the 200+ characters I acknowledge as still in use. Virtually all of the ones from the first post are abandoned. SO MUCH CRINGE. Also, I know that a lot of these questions specify just one OC but I like talking about ALL of them. 1. Your first OC ever? Looking back through old sketchbooks, it was actually a group of Kingdom Hearts OCs. The one that sticks to memory most, however, was supposedly the daughter of Kairi and Sora. 2. Do you have a personal favorite among your OCs? Liluna Maefield. She's my absolute favorite character. I love developing her character and her design is actually one of my favorites. Ironically enough, she's also the furthest away from my general character designs/personalities. 3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else? I don't believe so. I have many characters that are influenced by other people and their characters but I don't think I've ever had one directly. 4. A character you rarely talk about? Seiren. He exists but I don't normally delve into him. During the early drafts of Secret (during the cringe years), Seiren was the Teacher to Violet, whose a special type of Mage. In the current version of Secret, Seiren is the father of Violet and Liore 5 If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? Riden. If I make Riden popular, that would mean people would read Litheliun. All my time and effort put into that story won't have been for naught. Also because Riden is one of my most complicated and the second favorite after Liluna. I love his character designs. 6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related? Prior to my redesigning to diversify my character designs, the characters that were most similar without purposeful relation were Lucas of Secret and Day of re:Meetings. Looking back on it though, I think re:Meetings was a recycled plot line of Secret but I just forgot that fact. 7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories? All of them are. I'm a writer nowadays so all of my OCs are characters created for my stories. I have a master list of my main works /here!/ 8. Do you RP as any of your OCs? If you do, introduce one of your RP OCs here! All of my OCs used to be RP OCs, however, I mentioned I wouldn't use any of the ones from prior to 9th grade and that was really the last times I role played. There was one, however, from this year. Their name is Anaro. They're a merperson from the Voltron: Legendary Defenders universe. I used them as a character for an OC-centric Voltron AU with my friends. They're flirtatious. They also travel around on either a wheelchair or a fish tank on wheels. 9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else? I really would depend on the situation, what I'm getting in return, and which character. 10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design? I want to Sora Davit due to his scar and eccentricities but almost all of the main characters of Dragons have rather ornate designs. 11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a āsunshineā? Mikaela Kay. Now and forever. She's no longer a universal RP character since s has a set role as one of the leading sidekicks of the Litheliun: Eternal. 12. Name an OC that isn't yours but who you like a lot. Jun's character Alwyn! He's been put through a lot! He deserves happiness with his family!!!! 13. Do you have troublemaker OCs? Gods below, yes. A majority of my characters are chaotic neutral or even just chaotic in general. 14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory Liore and his older sister were suddenly dropped off at the orphanage. There he met his soulmate. He wasn't a prime candidate for adoption because he couldn't be separated from his sister who was too old, in her teens, for most couples. His soulmate did get adopted and they began to fade away from each. Then he and Violet "die" at the hands of his soulmate. He resurrects with no memories or hints of his life beforehand. He wanders around until he's picked up by a kind couple who had recently founded what would become the Red Outlaws guild. Unfortunately, the happiness wouldn't last when a family friend betrays them. In a course of events, battles wage and his parents die. 15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people? Yes! Please! Talk to me! I created this entire blog just to do that (and world build). 16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)? A lot of my Litheliun characters. Pheal is actually an anthropologist with a hobby focusing around cryptozoology. Ziren learned a lot from Pheal and is a scientist in his own right as a botanist. Chiron, despite being a renowned chemist, would actually be very good at biology. She just doesn't like it. Reidoux would also be best at biology since she studied the body. Had it not been for the war, she would've actually become a marine biologist. 17. Any OC OTPs? Yes! Chiron and Liluna are my precious married girls! I love drawing them together and it's fun to do so. 18. Any OC crack ships? I'm terrified to say that there is one. It's Ziren x Jasper. The idea once popped into my head and it hasn't left. Ever. 19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why) Riden Olivyon. Believe it or not, he's actually one of my oldest original OCs right next to Ziren. I never really delved into him as much as I tried to outline a plot for Litheliun back in my younger years so he's not really brought up often from back then. If memory serves right, Riden was also originally based off of my mom (they're both born in August Leo's). I worked, reworked, and fixed Riden from the jumbled mess he already was into a pretty decent character. He's probably my greatest achievement. 20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)? Hm... Yes? Riden does technically sing when he has a voice. The world of Litheliun doesn't really have verbal music since language had been destroyed not too long ago and it's been a struggle to build it back up. His voice is lilting and is reminiscent to bells. It's also pretty raspy. He sings to music boxes. Oh, and they're Harriet! She is quite literally a famous singer named Rehenna (a cheap alias based on a book series he likes). It's difficult to pinpoint his music genre but it's something like pop and Celtic. 21. Your most artistic OC Chiron Hallows. Prior to becoming a chemist, she worked as a commissioned artist. On the flip side, Cedar Flores became an artist as a hobby after taking a liking to drawing the blueprints for Meth's inventions. 22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how? I wouldn't know. I doubt anyone even knows my characters exist beyond a visual design. 23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like? ..... Virtually all of Litheliun, all of the Secret Series. Holy frick none of my original plans go out right. However, there is Skylar Davit of Fantys Aurea. His original personality was meant to be a true villain who greatly enjoyed villainy. However, after infiltrating the hero school and befriending the students there, he decides to become a hero himself. In his current personality, he became a vigilante in hopes of finding his missing brother. When Sora does eventually return, Skylar finds himself enjoying screwing around. He's a trickster over a sheer villain. He stays a villain through the rest of his life with bouts of vigilantism here and there to assist his hero boyfriend Joseph. (also, I wanted to give him blue hair so I made his original sociopathy a side effect of a loss of emotions while using his power) 24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why. No. They'd all try to kill me. 25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?) Chiron Hallows actually uses a redesign from //cringes// Kanoka Seiwa, an RP OC who was based entirely off of me. Not only is her physical appearance similar but she's also an artist. Luckily, I've managed to make her her own person over the years. On another note, Sapphyr Mata is quite literally based on a self-insert with a design taken from a character physically based off of me, Phiran Korand. A lot of the characters from Secret are based on my irl friends and myself. 26. Have you ever had to change your OCās design or something else about them against your will? With my current characters, no, not really. If I change something about them, it's mostly because I either wanted to or forgot the original aspect of them, improvised, and it stuck. 27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song? While the characters themselves were created based on the song, Blake and Ruby's story, as well as their personalities, were inspired by the song "Both Sides of the Story" by We Are The In Crowd. I did end up changing this plot line so the original is more of a backstory leading to the events. They still hate each other but they don't end up back together in the current version. 28. Your most dangerous OC. Depends on your definition of dangerous. If you mean by potential danger, then Kylan, Goddess of Destruction. She can remove anything from existence, even souls. Luckily, she's level-minded and is very responsible. If you mean as actually shown being dangerous, then... Oh, that's difficult. Many of my antagonists/morally ambiguous protagonists are ALL considerably dangerous. 29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone theyāre going? Avery "AJ" James. It's pretty much her job to investigate abandoned areas without telling anyone. Aside from her.... Jamie Rowen maybe? 30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection? Secret? Almost any of the ones who have a stuffed animal collection would display it proudly. 31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really) Pheal Nascal would have a conspiracy/science blog. They'd have spent days upon days coding the layout with Matrix by their side. Ironically, it'd be mostly pastel colors. 32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why? ..... Um.... The characters of Dragons? I've been tempted to dive into the tragedy genre and me doing so usually means horror genre too. It's kinda weird. Aside from them, Sora Davit. Previous child quite literally went through a horror game scenario on his way to escaping. 33. Your shyest OC? Young Phiran. He was a rather tiny thing and during the course of Litheliun, he had just awoken from a coma and with amnesia. He's not very good at socializing and can barely speak more than a few words at a time at a whisper-level. He was easily frightened. 34. Do you have any twin characters? A LOT. The most notable are Sora and Skylar. Under the right circumstances, they can pass as identical and have a tendency to steal each other's identities since they're both wanted criminals. There's also Riddle and Rhyme (although Riddle had stopped aging around 16 while both of them are presently 19), Derek and Dylan, Evan and Eloise, Mil and Mira, and Ioryn and Carolyn. Then I have my fraternal twins, Wren and Harriet. Neither of them know they're even close to related. Both of them like to hide behind their undefined ages. 35. Any siblings characters. Aside from the twins, there's also A LOT. Most of them are adopted, half-siblings, or dead. Justin and Jay, Jasmine and Jaden, Avery and Avalon, Stella and Alice, Jun and Jewel, and Violet and Liore are the most notable siblings. Sonja is the older sibling of Sora and Skylar, while Riddle and Rhyme are the eldest to Silica, Erick, Meric, and Pyrus. There's a lot more. 36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)? I'm not entirely sure what this is supposed to mean now that I'm actually reading it. "Pair" is a rather vague word. 37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human. I'm a fantasy genre writer. NONE of them are "quite human". However, I'll introduce Rubee Sonata. She's a vampire born after the fabeled Flooding of Terraria and her parents had apparently been born shortly before the Flooded waters sunk down to regular bodies of water. Her clan had joined together with another clan, the Novellas. During her youth, she was childhood sweethearts with the Novella heir, as was to be expected as she was the Sonata heir. Rubee, like her predecessors, were cursed to rely entirely on the Novellas for their immortality while the Novellas relied on the Sonatas for sanity. The curse manifests itself as a ruby embedded in the front of her neck. 38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer? Either Onyx Mata or Eloise Tallon. Both are vaguely based off of my sister who is a rather amazing competitive dancer. 39. Introduce any character you want Avalon James is the deuteragonist of Secrets Behind Lock and Key. During the original concept, however, he was the sole main character. His book was styled like a journal and he was the author. In the current version, it's Avery and she is the one who found the journal. Avalon is considered the "host" of the Seven Vices. While his body does indeed act as the basis of the Seven Vices, he himself as a soul is the vice of Lust. During the current version of SBLAK, Avalon is around 27-28 years old and is one of only three members - the other two being his closest companions - of the gang literally known as Vices. He's also thought to be dead for most of the book. It isn't until an infiltration mission where he is mistaken for his sister is he revealed to have been alive this entire time. 40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share! I don't think I have any linked to the characters themselves aside from the actual process of creating them. No one is really interested in my characters so I never get the chance to develop or think of them outside of the words being put down through typing or through pencil. 41. Has anyone drawn fanart of your OCs? If yes, maybe show a picture or two here (remember sources & permissions!) Yes! Henry draws my characters on occasion without me having to request that she do so. My favorite one is of Ziren with Riden's back facing the camera in the background with leaves everywhere! The link to it is here! 42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods? My actual God characters, of course! Godly Affairs occurs in a world where the human race managed to wipe itself out. The Greek pantheon is one of the few pantheons that managed to survive and flourish in the new world so the newer pantheons admire them greatly. 43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? Itās time to confess I have a rather wide range of characters designs but in earlier designs, you could typically find a reoccurring theme of white hair, red-eyed undead characters, fire-powered red-heads usually as an ode to my first original work OC, Mikaela), and characters with short black hair, a blue color scheme, and somewhat relating to sapphires. In my stories, you might even notice how some characters tend to have altered replicas in groups of 4 to 7 across their universes. I enjoyed using my irl friends as the characters themselves. 45. A character you no longer use? Look at the original post for this. All except for Mikaela. 46. Has anyone ever told you that you treat your OCs badly? Yes. All the time. I tell it to myself too. 47. Has anyone ever (friendly) claimed any of your OCs as their child? No, not really. As I've mentioned before, no one really cares. 48. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes Rubell and Joseph. They are casual existential despair personified that cover it up with memes. 50. Give me the good olā OC talk here. Talk about anything you want All of Them: Help me.
