Old Guard fans who have read the comics and watched the movie.
Personally I prefer the movie for a lot of reasons. the comics are still good, despite my beef with some aspects of it (I really dislike the art).
(REMEMBER TO REBLOG PLEASE)

Something I’ve been working on and am finally sharing! Should be posting the rest tomorrow ☺️:
Hob's Adventures: 1640
Quynh doesn't let herself hope, not yet. She glares and asks, "Why?"
"Long story. Let's just say I've been in a similar position and wouldn't wish the same fate on anyone else.
———
Hob is sitting in an alleyway in Liverpool when he hears about the two demonic witches that refuse to die and an iron coffin being made for one of them. It hits too closely with his own witch trial and he's just crazy enough to think he might be able to help. It's not like he has anything better to do, and maybe it will be a good story to tell the stranger next time they meet.

Andy loosing her immortality in the first movie, while very dramatic and surely poetic with what she says to Nile, is actually terrible for the second movie (based on the comic part 2) and here is why (comic spoilers incoming):
We basically have two options for how it goes if we even vaguely follow the comic plot and it takes out all the tension/ spice:
A) Quynh kills Andy as she doesn’t know Andy lost her immortality and everyone is very sad (this should happen like within the first five minutes of their meeting lol)
B) Andy gets grievously injured and Qunyh is very shocked (but survives just barely)
*
But like it still takes out all the spice of the comic plot out. Of Andy and Noriko fighting and killing each other, of Nicky shooting them both, of Noriko torturing Andy, Andy‘s quite frankly epic rage murder on Noriko‘s yacht. So much good stuff and character relevant stuff will get missed out on because Andy isn’t immortal anymore
Like now some people will say: but surely it adds tension because Andy can die! Actually no, I expect her to die (I don’t want to but the way movies are made these days it‘s likely) and knowing she can die in a movie about immortals (and where the whole premise is they are immortal) is actually boring if you ask me. But killing characters never really adds tension for me in the first place.
If Andy still had her immortality like in the comics, not only could we get the awesome scenes above, but with the actual tension of „what if she doesn’t wake up the next time.“ The unknown factor of unstable immortality is much tastier than the known factor of mortal heroes.
Anyway, comic 2 is awesome (except the ending) and I hate the way they went in the movie. Obviously it‘s possible ToG2 will go a different route but it would still come back to point a) and b) above really except if Booker starts out with „don’t go after Andy she’s mortal now“
* point C) Andy dies and comes back immortal once more/ recovers her immortality some way (I don’t think it‘s actually an option outside of fanfic but I had to add it to complete the list)
Also sorry if some parts of this don’t make sense, I’m sick and can’t follow my own thoughts longer than a couple of seconds

thinking about nicky who would have bruises and knicks everywhere if not for healing bc he just simply. does not care.
Like nicky is just like “if it gets it done more effectively or does not hinder the process idc” and joe is just “DUDE ?? WHO GIVES A SHIT!! HOW R U AO SMART AND SO STUPID BE CAREFULLL !1!1!1”
like he’s so bewildered on how such a graceful, calculated guy can bang his shin on every table in the room and knick his fingers making half the meals

Joe is dressed for vacation!!!!
Nicky is also dressed for vacation. He spent twenty minutes choosing his nicest beige T-shirt this morning.
And because I worked hard on his shirt and then covered it with Joe:

Ronin Noriko, masterless Samurai
[ID: a digital drawing of Noriko from The Old Guard comics as a Ronin inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s Isoai Juroemon Masahisa does a Naginata attack from his 47 Ronin series. She’s leaning back as she swings the Naginata, a long spear with a curved blade at the top. She has two swords strapped to her waist by a uwa-obi belt and sageo cord, a long curved katana and a shorter wakizashi. She’s wearing a long black and white kimono with a blue underside. Underneath, she has blue kyahan leg wraps with a wave pattern, black tabi sock and waraji sandals. Her hair is in a top bun.  End ID.]

Come and indulge in 16k words of The Old Guard omegaverse goodness, set in the comicsverse. Featuring Nile spending her first Christmas as an immortal, with a heavily pregnant Nicky who helps her feel at home. Second chapter sees baby finally arrive (on Christmas Day!) - along with the chaos that ensues - and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved the name they chose. Spoiler alert: Nile loved it too! 🥰
and fills the hungry with good things

The Old Guard &c
I stumbled quite by accident on The Old Guard two weeks ago, as part of a crossover with another fandom. At that point I’d only heard of the comic as the inspiration for a movie that came out on Netflix shortly after I got rid of my account, but I was intrigued enough that I went looking for more.
