Ker (keres, plural) goddess of violent death
it has come to my attention that when there is Thanatos, the god of gentle death, then there must be another personification of death but of the violent kind and i just found out that they're called the Keres. very shallow research later and i wanted Ker personified in hades game style fashion
took some liberties on how they've become a horde of battlefield body scavenging daughters of Nyx and Erebus, Night and Darkness, and made them all start from a single goddess (Ker) but violent deaths suddenly came at a surplus and so more help was needed hence the death-spirits known as Keres. These death-spirits are likened to the very first iteration of Ker so they're more savage with a single-minded focus and purpose. They did not inherit her capacity of speech nor for scavenging of little trinkets in battlefields.

“So,” Buck says, blinking up at Tommy. He still hasn’t gotten over how good that feels– looking up at his partner. Being with someone whose warm, protective hand settles on the small of his back and nearly spans the distance between his hips. Someone whose big, strong arms envelop him when they hug, someone who can tuck Buck into his chest almost effortlessly. Someone who makes him feel grounded, protected, safe. In more ways than one.
“So,” Tommy returns the word, accompanying it with a warm smile, the kind that reaches all the way to his eyes and makes them sparkle as he looks down at Buck.
“You met my parents,” Buck says with a laugh, because really– how could he not? It’s a little ridiculous, now that he’s saying it out loud. “On our third date.”
Tommy nods, leaning against the wall outside of Buck’s front door. “Mhmmm,” he hums, watching Buck with a fond smile as he fumbles for his keys. “Sure did.”
It takes a minute, but Buck finally manages to get his keys out of his pocket and into the lock. Tommy is nothing but patience and fondness, watching him with a sparkle in his eye that makes Buck feel warm all over. When he finally gets the door open, Buck’s chest swells as Tommy’s big hand comes out to hold the door open for him, nodding for him to head inside first.
That’s a first. Buck’s stomach flips, a warm, pleasant feeling skating across his skin as he pulls his key from the lock and steps inside. It’s the same feeling he had on their first date when Tommy pulled out his chair before he sat down. The same one he had the first time Tommy texted him Be safe at the start of a shift.
A smile tugs at his lips as Tommy follows him into his apartment and the door clicks shut behind him. There’s something so simple about it, something so mundane and normal and domestic that it makes Buck’s head spin and his heart pound against his ribcage in the very best way. He wants this again. And again, and again, and again. Wants to come home with Tommy. Come home to Tommy. Wants the door to close behind them, wants to leave the world outside and exist only in this world here, in the one with the warm glow of the kitchen lights casting shadows on Tommy’s face as he toes his shoes off beneath the bike that hangs on Buck’s wall. The one where he pulls two beers out of the fridge and sets them on the counter, and Tommy opens them wordlessly, the silence comfortable as it stretches between them. The one where the necks of their bottles clink and their knuckles brush and Buck’s skin hums and his heart sings from just one small taste of Tommy’s skin against his.
Buck’s the one to break the easy, comfortable silence. He does it with a small laugh, just shy of a giggle, as he thinks back to the look on his mother’s face when he walked into Chim’s hospital room with Tommy by his side and she connected the dots. “You were covered in soot.”
“Wasn’t the only one,” Tommy points out, grinning against the lip of his beer bottle as he takes another sip.

ok but what happened after annabeth ran away? how did frederick and the other lady react when one day, they woke up and their outcast child/stepchild (who is btw 7 YEARS OLD) wasn't sleeping in their bed? Did they NOT launch a police hunt for her? did frederick actually care but then the other lady shut it down? how did they feel as time passed and how did they live knowing that somewhere out there, a CHILD was dead or homeless and probably hunted down by monsters (which they knew all too well about) because of them? or did they both just brush it off as another burden off their shoulders, a blessing that was greater than annabeth's birth?

the last three times tara has appeared on leverage, someone has gotten held at the throat with an implied threat of death. now i’m not saying this is her fault per se, but three in a row? that’s becoming a pattern. she’s like a very very specific omen.

Something I love to think about is the complete failure of the Night Island Coven. By the end of Queen of the Damned the supposed last vampires on Earth are brought together and become part of a new order under the new queen. And then literally a few years later they're all split up, mostly not on speaking terms, and even those that are like Louis and Lestat are separated. All without a real explanation.
Lestat suggests that perhaps it failed because vampires just can't stay with each other for a long time but we've seen that isn't really the case. At least not as quickly as that. The Theatre Des Vampires, with some rotations, managed to last for centuries, and even the Rue Royal family, with all their "locked together in hatred" lived to together for decades. And yet the Night Island didn't make it through the 80s.
So what really went down on Night Island? Why was it that made this specific set of vampires in that specific moment so hard to work out? Was it the lack of new fledglings? Was their specific mix of traumas too much to overcome? Something like Lestat not being able to get Gabrielle's attention while Marius yearns for Armand right next to them doesn't sound like an ideal setup. Nor is Louis trying to make things work with his ex whilst his other, arguably messier, ex is right there dating the boy who completely misunderstood his guilt.
It's such an interesting period of time for me to think about. Let me know your thoughts.

Forgot to post this but I can't believe it's literally canon that Juno couldn't get. it. up. After Nureyev
Saw it on fics sometimes and was like well that's a bit harsh until I remembered IT'S CANON
Juno steel after having sex one (1) time with peter nureyev is canonically unable to fully enjoy casual sex with others. He tried. It failed.

Listening to Night watch for the millionth time. Only just realised that the event that sent Sam back 30 years was Jeremy and Igor starting the crystal clock.
Once again I am struck by how brilliant Terry Pratchett was at plotting. I wish he had lived long enough to tell us who followed Veninari as Patrician. My money is on Carrot. I can't see Sam every accepting it. But then who heads the Watch? There is so much else that he might have told us. Not just what happens to Princess (Alice) after she grows up.
This means that Lu-Tze was living twice in that time period. He was having one life in Ankh Morpork sweeping and waiting for Sam to turn up (ten years), and other in the Monastery of Oi-Dong waiting for Lobsang Ludd.
