beloved doc! spare movie recs, please?
recent faves:
dinner in america (2020) - finally someone doing the weird girl/grumpy guy trope right! and it's also very funny
flower (2017) - very strange lil film which includes step-sibling shenanigans and adam scott
the night house (2020) - a pretty decent horror flick that answers a very important question: what if the embodiment of the literal void fell in love with you? yeah, the whole thing is definitely a metaphor for depression & mental illness, but i can't stress enough how much Nothing/Beth is my jam, like that's romance to meeeee

Of Kisses and Grad Parties
(Klance fanfic based on a true story)
Word Count: 4762
Summary: Keith goes to his friend Hunk’s grad party not expecting to meet a cute boy named Lance and have his first kiss.
In retrospect, Keith had only planned on stay a few hours, he wasn’t a bad friend, he only just wanted to stay so long before he got tired of social interaction. However, that plan went down the drain just as fast as he ate the plate of nachos in front of him.
“Keith that’s your third plate of nachos how many are you going to eat?” Hunk asked slightly concerned about Keith’s eating habits.
“I’m sure…. I’ll be… fine” Keith said in between each bite of nachos. “Nachos… are my only… friend.”
“I think that’s a bit of an overstatement there.” Shiro piped up from the end of the table.
Keith finished his nachos and decided not to get another plate and took it to the trash and threw it away as well as grabbing a water bottle before returning. Hunk seemed to keep checking his phone over and again.
“You waiting for some Hunk?” Keith asked curious about who else was going to come considering Hunk’s grad party ended in an hour.
“Oh, I’m waiting on my two friends Pidge and Lance. They are both walking here so I’m not sure when exactly they’ll get here but they said soon.” Hunk replied as he got another buzz from his phone. “Oh! Lance is here!”
Keith wasn’t really sure what he expected to see when Lance walked into the room but it surely wasn’t seeing someone as cute as him. However he had to act normal because it was just Hunk’s friend and shouldn’t be a big deal to him. Out loud that is. Secretly Keith was texting Hunk under the table without Lance noticing.
Why are all your friends so cute??
GDJIKDH
Do you know if he likes guys?
I think he likes boys.
Luckily Lance didn’t notice any mood change between Hunk or Keith so everything was okay. In the end Lance started complaining about his work and Keith actually took interest. Keith hated his job just as much as Lance. Working a dead end job with ridiculous customers seemed like something Lance struggled with too so Keith was easily engrossed in a conversation with Lance. However after he continuous complaining about things the three of them hated, somehow they got on the topic of Sunday morning church.
“My parents go to church every Sunday morning and each time I have to make sure to be busy or gone from the house so they can’t make me go.” Lance said seeming a little annoyed.
“How come you don’t like church?” Keith asked even though he didn’t really like church either.
“I just don’t like sitting there for hours on end and sometimes it’s even harder when they complain about you. Personally I’m bisexual so it can be hard when they go on anti gay rants.”
Keith took note of Lance’s sadness there but personally he felt his stomach jump the minute Lance said he was bisexual. The moment Lance spoke those words Keith was already texting Hunk.
HE LIKES BOYS
Hunk didn’t really reply to that message because he jumped up and ran outside saying Pidge had arrived. When Hunk came in he introduced Pidge to everyone and then Pidge left to go get their own plate of nachos.
“Hey do you guys wanna play racing devils, I’ve got my gay cards in my nag.” Keith asked the three of them.
“What the hell are gay cards?” Lance asked.
“Well you see,” Keith pulled the cards out of his bag and opened them, “They are rainbow and I went out of my way to spend extra money on them.”
“Oh course you did Keith…of course you did.” Hunk added in.
Soon Keith split the deck and Hunk and he set up a game of racing devils. Keith took it slow to teach Hunk the game and Hunk seemed to have a little bit of fun. That was until Keith went full speed the next round and kicked Hunk’s butt.
“Can we play something else? Something easy?” Hunk asked. “Maybe Go Fish?”
Keith and Pidge both agreed but Lance didn’t look excited at all.
“Something wrong Lance?” Pidge piped up.
“I don’t know how to play go fish…”
“How do you not know how to play go fish… dude…” Hunk looked so disappointed when saying this.
“That’s okay we can teach you. It’ll be easy.” Or so Keith though.
It wasn’t easy. Lance was just not grasping on to go fish. No matter how hard the three of them tried to teach him, he just wasn’t understanding. In the end they ended up deciding to stop playing and Keith and Lance stayed behind to clean up the cars while Hunk and Pidge went to get something to drink.
“I’ll just steal some of these and put them here…” Lance said while putting some cards down his shirt.
“I don’t want to reach in there and get those back…” Keith stated while obviously watching Lance refile his cards like that.
“Why not?” Keith felt like he stopped breathing right then and there. In the e4nd Lance gave his cards back and they went to join Pidge and Hunk in the garage. They were sitting on coolers just talking to each other. They joined in and talked for a while until Hunk started showing them his pictures from when he was a kid up until now. Some were hilarious while others sent throwbacks to Keith considering he grew up with Hunk.
Eventually Keith started feeling tired. Keith didn’t sleep normally, maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night, if that. So he had a tendency to fall asleep in random situations, some of the worse ones being places like concerts and soon to be someone’s graduation party. With that on his mind he decided to just lay down on the driveway and take a nap. The grad party was supposed to end at 5 and it was about 5:30 so most of Hunk’s family was gone by that point luckily. However he wasn’t expecting Lance to come and sit criss cross next to him.
“Whatcha doing down here?” Lance quite literally poked at him.
“I’m kinda tired. I slept like 2 hours last night and had work this morning so I’m tired.” Keith answered his question while also deciding to move his head to lay on Lance’s legs. However he miscalculated the amount of movement to his leg and ended up laying on the most uncomfortable spot, Lance’s knee.
“You sure you want to lay there, that might be a little uncomfortable.”
“You’re probably right.” Keith moved to Lance’s thigh which was a lot more comfortable than Lance’s hard knee. Keith and Lance started talking and Keith kept trying to drop hints to Lance as hard as he could but he just didn’t seem to pick any of it up.
WHY WON’T HE TAKE THE HINT
I’M LITERALLY ON HIS THIGHS
CONSTANTLY COMPLIMENTING HIM
JFKFKFGF
Seriously lance is so oblivious
Soooo oblivious
I’m dying hunk
You could probably tell him straight up and he’d be like “what.”
Next thing he knew Keith yawned and decided to wipe the side of his eye and immediately gasped.
“Oh no my eyeliner…” Keith looked up at Lance. “How bad is it?”
Instead of Lance just answered and letting Keith go fix it, He gently took his thumb and fixed Keith’s eyeliner for him.
“Marry me.” Keith said in full seriousness.
“Not yet.” Lance replied. The catch however was, neither of them let go of each other’s hand. No one said anything, the two of them just stayed like that. Eventually Lance decided to lay back on the ground and Keith repositioned himself to be more comfortable, with his head oh Lance’s stomach. It was fine until Lance started laughing at the things Keith said.
“I can see your head move every single time I laugh, it’s really funny.” Keith knew Lance wasn’t lying because he could feel Lance’s laughter and Keith laughed too.
“Why are you all laying on the ground?” Hunk’s grandma piped in. “A chair would be more comfortable.”
“Yes but it’s a lot harder to lay down in a lawn chair than on the ground.” Keith responded with agreement from the other three teens on the ground.
“Hey! We should go to the park, it only a couple blocks away.” Hunk said with his grandma agreeing that we go out.
In the end they all started walking to the park, arguments about driving or walking occurred but considering it was only a few blocks, they ended up walking.
“I can’t believe she does this, like come on it’s not hard, kissing isn’t hard.” Hunk complained about his girlfriend Shay.
“I swear even I’d be better at kissing than Shay, and I’ve never kissed anyone before.” Keith stated with a gasp from Lance being heard afterward.
“What do you mean you’ve never kissed anyone?!” Lance all but yelled. “How can someone as pretty as you not have kissed anyone yet, you’re like 18!”
“Hunk am I lying about never kissing anyone?”
“No Lance, Keith is telling the truth.” Hunk agreed
“I don’t believe you but whatever.” Lance crossed his arms.
“Why would I lie about never having kissed anyone? I came out to have a good time and I’m honestly feeling so attacked right now.” Pidge and Hunk laughed at that while Lance looked confused. “No one ever really liked me so I never got the chance to kiss anyone dude.” The subject seemed to drop after that line.Besides they had made it to the park by then.
“We should go on the swings!” Pidge said as they walked into the park.
“Yes! Let’s do that!” Hunk agreed. The bad part however was that there were only two full sized swings.
“Do you think you can fit in the baby swing Lance?” Keith asked considering how skinny
he was.
“I think I could probably get in, but getting out may be a different story.” Keith laughed.
“Oh man would I pay to see that. Please do it.” Keith said.
“Nope. You are not doing that. Not happening Lance, and don’t encourage him Keith.”
Hunk jumped in.
“Fine…. Do you want to go for a walk instead?” Lance asked and Keith agreed and
before they knew it they were arriving at a tennis court on the other side of the park.
“I’m going to climb that fence!” Lance yelled while running to the fence.
“That is a bad idea. You are in flip flops.” Lance didn’t listen. Keith laughed as Lance only
made it like two feet up before losing one of his shoes and had to help him get down. They ended up walking into the tennis court and Keith sat down while Lance continued to talk.
“You know what I don’t understand. Half the things you guys say! Like I only ever go on
facebook, I don’t use, what was it? Tumblr? Or anything else? I didn’t attack you so why did you feel attacked earlier and then Pidge and Hunk laughed at it? I just don’t understand!” Lance ranted while pacing around.
“Lance it’s just a meme dud-”
“I don’t understand memes Keith!”
Keith reached his arms out and gestured towards him. Meaning for Lance to come sit
next to him.
“Come here and I’ll teach you about memes okay?” Lance did not sit sext to him. No he
came up and sat on his lap straddling him.
“OH.” Keith didn’t know what else to say.
“So tell me about memes, I want to understand.” Lance said. Keith was a little lost
considering Lance seemed to be 100% serious about talking about memes but was also straddling him.
“Ok well here goes…” Keith pulled out his phone and started showing Lance the latest things that were popular only for lance to not understand.
“I’m just not understanding how these are as funny as you guys make them out to be, there’s like no real humor. What’s so funny about a boneless pizza it literally makes no sense!” Lance ranted but paused when he noticed Keith. “Why are you staring at me?”
“I-I didn’t m-mean to stare at y-you.” Keith hadn’t realized what he was doing which now lead Lance to stare at him too.
“Your eyes… they’re so pretty.” Keith hadn’t expected Lance to compliment his eyes.
“Oh come on. Your’s are much prettier than mine, I could get l-lost in them.” Keith wasn’t the best at flirting.
“Oh come on, mine are so boring and normal, versus yours are so different. You don’t see those all the time, they are… so…” Lance started stuttering because Keith had leaned his head a little closer to Lance’s, just hoping he was reading the situation right. “It’s like a night blue grey….with..specks…of stars…in them….”
“Is there something wrong?” Keith said with a smirk on his face.
“I’m trying to talk but…something keeps…distracting me.” Lance stuttered out.
“Oh…am I distracting you Lance?” Keith hoped Lance would pick up on his flirting.
“Oh yes you are… Is there something you want here Keith?” Lance had definitely picked up on the flirting tone Keith had put out earlier.
“Oh I think you know what I want.” Keith said while putting his forehead near Lance’s, with their faces inches apart.
“I can’t. I know you’ve never done this before and I can’t take that from you without you telling me. I need to hear you say it.” Lance’s voice was so quiet.
“Kiss me.” Lance did.
Keith wasn’t quite sure how kissing was going to feel, but he didn’t really expect Lance’s, or anyone’s really, lips to be that soft. The kiss lasted a few seconds before Keith started giggling.
“What’s so funny?” Lance looked slightly amused.
“I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, I am so sorry.” Lance kissed him and again and again.
“That’s…okay…I taught…my old boyfriend…how to…kiss…I can…teach..you too.” Lance said in between each kiss he gave Keith. Keith pushed a little harder onto Lance’s face. He lifted his hand up ran his hand through Lance’s hair.
Keith followed Lance’s movements hoping to not suck at what he was doing. Luckily Lance knew that so Keith was sure he wasn’t expecting perfection. Keith took a moment to breathe before going back to kissing but this time it was different, Lance was pushing his tongue in his mouth.
“OH.” Keith wasn’t expecting that but just went with it and it wasn’t bad? It was an entirely new experience for him and the more they did it, the more he seemed to like it.
“HEY!” SUddenly Hunk’s voice was shouting at them and both Keith and Lance shot up suddenly, both getting a little light headed in doing so.
“Lance. Run.” Keith realized Lance also had no idea why he was making music noises after that.
“Dude no. Play it cool.” Lance whispered to Keit has Hunk jogged up.
“What…cha… doing?” Hunk said between heavy breaths after running the long distance between the swings and tennis court.
“Nothin-” Keith started.
“Making out.” Lance stated casually. Keith gasped because he felt so betrayed. “What? There’s no point in trying to hide it. You can tell by Hunk’s face that he already knew.”
Pidge soon jogged up next to Hunk and joined the other three.
“Pidge you were right they were making out.” Hunk and Pidge laughed. “My baby’s all grown up.” He said as he messed up Keith’s hair. Keith pouted and crossed his arms.
The four of them ended up walking off the tennis court and went to sit in the grass. Pidge and Hunk sat next to each other while Keith sad down and man spread his legs, not quite expecting Lance to sit there too. Keith wasn’t quite sure what to do so he wrapped his hands around Lance and laid his head on his shoulder.
Now here’s the thing, Keith does not sleep normally. He will stay up super late and have to get up to work at 5:30 in the morning. So on average he gets 2-3 hours of sleep at night, so after a few days of only sleeping 2-3 hours, he tends to fall asleep at the worst times. He’s fallen asleep at parties, at concerts, and at his own high school graduation and his friends knew this, so he used this to his advantage. While Hunk and Pidge were on one side of them watching videos on Hunk’s phone, Keith was leaning on the opposite shoulder of Lance’s and kissing his neck while Hunk and Pidge didn’t even know. The only problem with this is that Keith had no idea hickies can form that fast and he… may have left a hickey on Lance’s neck. However, Lance didn’t seem to protest.
After a while Lance noticed a tree and decided to climb it, so Keith decided to tag along. Lance made it a decent way up the tree and then flipped himself upside down when Keith got close to the tree and their faces were quite close.
“Theoretically I should not be able to kiss you at this angle.” Lance said while their faces were inches apart.
“So you’re telling me we shouldn’t attempt a spiderman kiss?” Keith challenged.
“No, I’m saying we definitely should.”
They did.
When they returned to Pidge and Hunk they seemed to be “arguing” over something Keith didn’t care about, but Lance did so Lance joined them while Keith decided to go for a walk by himself to think. He had a lot of emotions running through his head when he sat down at a picnic table away from the other three. His friends already know that he just needs a moment to be alone when he does this, so they leave him alone until he comes back, however Lance didn’t and he came over to ask what’s wrong and didn’t accept Keith’s usual “I’m fine” answer.
“Hey, are you upset about what happened earlier because I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable and made you do something you regret.” Lance looked so sad and Keith hadn’t expected that.
“Oh my god. No lance… that’s not at all whats wrong. Please don’t think this your fault, I promise it’s not, like I swear!” Keith felt so bad that Lance thought that. “I just get overwhelmed with too much social interaction so I need like.. a cool down period, if that makes sense.”
“Yeah, I think I understand.” Lance got closer to Keith on the bench and put his arm around Keith and laid his head on his shoulder. “Do you want me to leave you alone sweetheart?”
“I think you should stay.” The two sat there in comfortable silence for a while until Hunk and Pidge came over, it seemed to be at least twenty minutes.
“Hey guys I think we should probably head back, it’s already 8:30 pm and I still have to take Pidge home tonight.” Everyone agreed with Hunk and they started walking back to Hunk’s house, with Hunk and Pidge talking while Lance and Keith talked.
“You know what sucks?” Lance started in. “I live super close to the park but I have to walk all the way to Hunk’s to get my stuff to walk all the way back.”
“You know, I drove here, I could just drive you back right?” Keith responded.
“Thats sounds good, thank you” Lance put his hand on Keith’s butt as they walked. He might have jumped just a little bit when that happened, but tried to play it off as a sneeze. Eventually Keith took Lance’s hand in his and they walked in peace back to Hunk’s house.
The four of them were waiting in Hunk’s room as Hunk packed his clothes to go somewhere after they all left. However Hunk asked if Lance needed a ride and it was, oddly suspicious.
“No I’m okay, Keith is going to take me home, so I won’t have to walk.” Lance told him. However Hunk did not look amused. He had a look on his face that said “Don’t lie to me, you sneaky little shits.”
“Hey I’m not meaning anything like that!” Keith raised his hands in defense but when he looked at Lance he was nodding and blushing, once again Keith felt betrayed.
When they got in the car Keith started driving towards the park because he remembered Lance mentioning he lived near the park.
“So where am I going to take you home?” Keith noticed Lance looked a bit sad when he said this. “Unless there is somewhere else you want to go?” Lance seemed to perk up at this point.
“Do you want to go back to the park?” So Keith turned to the park and once again they were back to holding hands and walking together.
“I wish there weren’t kids here, I want to climb that castle playset.” Keith said sadly and Lance laughed at him as he lead them to a tree on the side of the park that many people don’t go near. The two of them sat underneath a tree and Lance decided to put on music, which just happened to me the most romantic music anyone could have chosen for that moment.
“So tell me about yourself, what kind of things do you like? Lance inquired.
“I like music and writing, I’m actually going to a poetry slam in a few weeks to perform a piece there. I’m actually really nervous for that, I’m afraid I’m going to chicken out.”
“Oh really? I’ve been wanting to find an open mic poetry slam for months, is there any way I can convince you to take me with you?” Lance poked Keith’s stomach.
“I mean, I’m sure you could come, but I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of you if my piece is bad because I’m not sure how I feel about.” Keith definitely did not want Lance seeing his work if it was as bad as he thought it was. He had liked his piece at first but as he read it more and more, he hated it more and more.
“I don’t think it’ll be that bad if you can read it outloud at a poetry slam sweetie.” Lance kissed him again.
Once again the two were entangled in each other, barely time for either of them to breathe, that is until someone’s dog barked and they pulled away from each other long enough for them to pass.
“Hey do you want to maybe go walk and get some coffee or something? There’s a coffee shop a few blocks from here?” Keith agreed and off they went hand in hand. Keith wasn’t really familiar with coffee shop orders though because he only ever drank coffee from gas stations because it was cheap and kept him awake.
When they reached the coffee shop it was about 9:50pm and almost fully dark. They reached the doors and saw the hours and noticed they closed in ten minutes.
“I don’t want to go in there right before they close and be, those assholes, you know the kind.” Keith told Lance, lord knows he had to deal with so many of those people working in a fast food job and he absolutely did not want to become one of them.
“Do you want to go back then?” Lance pondered. “It’s almost fully dark so I bet all those kids will be off the castle playset.” Keith’s eyes lit up and they walked back.
When they reached the park sure enough the kids were all gone. Keith and Lance ran to the play set and went up the stairs and then up the ladder that lead them to the top. Lance went down slide after slide, giggling the entire time. Keith was having enough fun just watching Lance go down the slides until Lance told him he had to go down a slide. It took some coaxing, but Keith went down one nonetheless and Lance followed soon after. They then climbed the ladder stairs and ladder once again.
“I always hate climbing ladders while someone is behind me, I feel like my butt is in their face and I feel bad.” Keith pondered outloud and Lance scoffed.
“Trust me, there is nothing bad about this view at all sweetheart.” Keith was happy it was dark so Lance couldn’t see him blush.
“Hey come here.” Lance said and pulled Keith up to him and kissed him again. They ended up sitting down and once again was Lance straddling him. “Now this is something I can get used too.”
Lance pulled away from the kiss and started placing kisses down Keith’s face and onto his neck. However when he reached Keith’s earlobe he placed a little bite and Keith made an ungodly low sound. Lance bit a little harder. Keith reached behind Lance and put his hands under his shirt and pulled it up and over his head.
“Oooh someone’s eager..” Lance commented as he leaned back onto the ground and pulled Keith with him. Lance was now on his back and Keith was over top of him as he placed kisses down his neck and chest and back up. However Lance soon pushed Keith back up and kissed him a lot harder than before. Keith started to reach into the back on Lance’s pants but Lance grabbed his hand and said “wait.”
“I don’t. I don’t feel right about doing this Keith.” Keith was confused but immeditely removed his hands.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, we just met hours ago and I already took your first kiss, I can’t take anything more from you right now. I don’t want you to regret this Keith.”
“Even if I say I want too?” Keith asked.
“I…I don’t want you to regret this Keith. This doesn’t feel right.” Lance stated.
“Okay. I respect your wishes and I’m going to force you into anything you don’t want Lance.” Keith went to stand up but Lance grabbed his arm and stopped him.
“However if you want to kiss for a little while longer, I’d be okay with that.” So they did.
That was until Keith’s phone started screaming and he saw the contact saying “Father” on it and he had a quick moment of freakout before answering.
“QUICK. Stop being gay it’s my dad!” Lance was very confused considering he was currently straddling Keith. Keith put it on speaker.
“Hello dad.”
“Where are you? Hunk’s grad party was supposed to end at 5pm.” Keith’s dad sounded a little angry at this.
“Dad…it’s 11:30pm.” Keith said to his dad, however he mouthed the words “Why did take so long to wonder where I was?” to Lance.
“I’m sorry dad, we got caught up playing a card game, we’ll get everything cleaned up and I’ll be on my way home soon.”
“Okay, well you should probably hurry up because you have work at 7am and it’s almost midnight. See you soon. Bye Keith.” Keith’s dad didn’t sound angry anymore.
“Bye dad.” Keith hung up.
“Wow, he believed your lie so easily, I’m impressed.” Lance said.
“You’re telling me someone in the closet isn’t going to be good at lying?” Keith said and smirked at Lance.
“Okay you’re right. We should probably get going though.” Lance was right so they both stood up and Keith started walking near a slide to go down.
“We should go out again though.” Keith stated hoping Lance would agree.
“Well yeah considering we are dating.” Keith stopped suddenly while near the slide and slipped and almost fell down the slide.
“Wait, we are?” Keith questioned as Lance laughed at him for almost falling.
“Well this was a date was it not?” Keith agreed and they walked to the car and Keith drove lance home. Lance eventually got out of the car and said goodnight and closed the door and began walking away. Keith remembered something and quickly rolled down the window.
“Lance wait! Can’t I at least get your number before you go in?” Lance raced back to the car.
“Oh my god you’re right! How am I supposed to treat you to an amazing date if I don’t have any way to contact you!” They quickly exchanged numbers and said goodnight once again.
Keith drove home with a smile on his face and a text message that said “Hello Beautiful” on his phone.

Sigh. I didn't *mean* to stay up this late....although I never really mean to stay up till 4:30 am. Ugh. My room is currently filled with various flies and other bugs which is very irritating so we're gonna have to deal with finding how that's happening tomorrow. But today. The last 24 hours have been pretty nuts and intense, for some reasons I'll share and some I'm going to keep to myself. I could NOT fall asleep last night, and kept tossing and turning because I was sure I took my meds, only when I finally went to take another melatonin around 5 am I discovered I took the meds from the wrong fucking day, which did not include the Xanax I'm now apparently dependent on to fall asleep (and that's fucking wonderful). Even from there it still took a while, I think I finally passed out shortly before 7. Luckily I got to sleep until like 11, so that's something at least. Everyone was pretty much waiting on me so I got ready quickly and threw my stuff together, since we were gonna go to the "downtown" section of the town my cousins live in and go to the airport from there. So we head down there and end up having lunch at this cute little brewery place, I got a kind of curious burger that had shrimp on it but was really good! I appreciated that in the women's bathroom stalls they had a specific note about if you're date isn't going well or you're uncomfortable with who you're with for any reason, go to the bar and order an angel shot and they'll get you out of there safely. That has been floating around the Internet of course, but I very much appreciated them putting it there as I'm sure there are many who don't know. From there we went to some of the little shops and mostly just browsed, looking at the touristy t-shirts and such. I wanted to get a pirate themed sign that says "wenches" for my sister and I to hang out our door but my mom was dead set against it and wouldn't let me 😂 lol. There was one store that had a bunch of funny things and I ended up getting two bumper stickers and two magnets from there, the bumper stickers say "well behaved women rarely make history" which I gave to my sister, and the other says something along the lines of "those who say it can't be need to stop getting in the way of those who are doing it." I couldn't resist the magnets because I knew my roommate would appreciate them, one of them says "Jesus would kick the shit out of you" which is great because that's how I feel about many people who call themselves Christians and then do terrible things to people, and the other has a picture of Trump and it says "days without being a national embarrassment: 0" and I just couldn't resist. From there we made a final stop at a coffee place and then headed to the airport. We said our goodbyes and got through to the gate extremely quickly because the airport is ridiculously tiny, it's literally one hallway with like, 8 gates total lol. Earlier when we were driving my aunt had asked if I was planning on staying in Chicago after law school, and since I made up my mind yesterday that I won't be I said no, and of course my mother was like "this is the first time I'm hearing this" and I was like "yeah well that's because I made the decision yesterday" 😂 lol. But while we were waiting at the gate I mentioned I would really miss my church in Chi more than anything, and she was saying how there are plenty of good ones and I started voicing my objections with many churches which then led to a bit of a political fight and me getting frustrated because she like just doesn't pay attention to anything that's going on and thinks everything is sunshine and rainbows with Trump and I'm just like UGH. But whatever. I'll probably send her news updates now 😂 though idk of she'll read them. Oh well. Got on the plane, and I spend probably a solid half hour defeating the "hard" sudoku puzzle in the back of the airline magazine. I'm out of practice, or it would've been shorter lol but I was still proud of myself for getting it done because there were a few times I thought I was gonna be stumped but I got creative. After that I started a long CC fanfic that had been on my marked for later list but I REALLY wanted to start reading it and it's soooo good so far I just want to read it all the time lol. So I got like 30 pages into that (out of 120) before we landed. Got our bags, then had to take a shuttle to another lot where they were making the cars wait which was irritating, but I guess it's better than the mess it was trying to get through beforehand. Drove home, and are Chinese food with the family. I felt randomly inspired to kick around a soccer ball after, but the soccer ball I had last year had since disappeared, so I ventured into the basement to see if there were any in there. I found 4, two were deflated and two had something else wrong with them that they were like, rock hard, and I swear one of them I bought when I was like six. But I took those two up and tried to play with them, but they did not function as actual soccer balls so I'm gonna have to make a trip to a sports store at some point to remedy that situation. I went back inside after that and decided to watch a movie with my sister, I said she could pick and she chose "the space between us" (I think that's what it's called? Something like that) which I hadn't heard of but was pretty cute, as per usual we only got like halfway through before my sister bailed because she apparently has a very short movie attention span (sigh). We'll finish it tomorrow. I stayed in the back on my laptop for a little bit before joining my dad and brothers in the den, where they were watching an episode of house of cards, which I haven't seen any of but of course recognized Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright from their appearances at the Tonys the other night. After that my brothers bailed, and my dad went to watch where he was up to in season 2 of Supergirl, episode 7. We're watching and they have the scene where Maggie is talking to Alex about still being friends after she initially turned Alex down, and I went to needle my dad about it like "oh aren't you just so mad to see them shoving their gay agenda down your throats???" (totally sarcastic obviously) which then led to a political debate which was endlessly frustrating, but it eventually gave way to a really good conversation about the future and such, and I told him about my decision not to stay in Chi post school and of course he was thrilled, though I made no promises that I'd be returning here the goal is still the job in NYC. I did happen to stumble upon another nonprofit law firm I'd be interested in working for today, except this one is based in California (not an improvement from Chicago). They focus on more than just foster care for broader youth issues including juvenile justice reform, which is definitely something I could get behind. But I really don't want to have to take the California bar exam (you probably don't know this, but it's by FAR the hardest of all the state bars, and the last passing rate was like 49% which is ridiculously low) or really be that far away from everyone when the goal was really to be closer. But I mean, we'll see. Of course my dad immediately starting making his pitch for all the things he has going on here that could draw me back, and I'll admit he did make a compelling case in several aspects. I said that if I did end up out in this general area of Long Island (in a temporary position at least, probably for the government in some capacity) I do not think it would be good for my mental health to move back into this house, which he seemed to understand but said you know we'll deal with that when we get there, so *shrug* I guess we'll see how that works. It's a lot more inconvenient to want such things when you're still asking your parents to finance it because you don't have any money since you're a full time student. But anyway. I also told him something I've been musing on lately, just because it seems like I've been seeing an influx of stories of abuse against children (which it's possible is entirely due to one or two Facebook groups I'm in, but still), especially child deaths, and it's made me want to work as a prosecutor for a crimes against children unit. It's hardly the first time I've considered the idea, I've always said that is the only way I would consider being a prosecutor. But it would be another option at least. But yeah, it was a really good convo and it reminded me why I do love my dad so much, even when his political views frustrate me to no end and I don't think I can ever forgive him for voting for Trump (sigh). But yeah, that's it and it's 5 am now so I REALLY need to get to bed. Goodnight my darlings. I hope you get more sleep than I do.
