BEST DESTINATION IN JAIPUR
Nahargarh Fort
Tumblr media
The Nahargarh Fort is a located atop the Aravalli Hills, in the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan.  Nahargarh once formed a strong defense cordon for the city.  The name of the Nahargarh fort was earlier Sudarshangarh, but after some time it came to be known as Nahargarh. Nahargarh Fort is considered to be one of the most famous places in Jaipur.
Nahargarh is one of the largest forts in Rajasthan reflecting the heritage of Rajasthan. Nahargarh is considered one of the best places in Jaipur where people come from far and wide to visit, and also Nahargarh Fort is the only fort from where the whole of Jaipur is clearly visible. The view there is best seen in the morning.
Jaigarh Fort
Tumblr media
Sawai Jaisingh II got the Jaigarh fort built on the Eagles hill and it was constructed in 1726 AD.  The height of Jaigarh Fort is up to 500 feet above sea level.  The fort of Jaigarh offers a bird's eye view.  The world's largest cannon 'Jaivana Cannon' is kept in Jaigarh.
Jaigarh has many steps from which we have to climb up and it also has a slope from where the royal vehicles of Jaigarh go up.  Travelling in the royal vehicles of Jaigarh is also a different kind of fun and we do that also by booking.  It is said that there is water in the lower part of Jaigarh so it adds to its beauty even more.  It looks best in the rainy season.  There is also a temple on the top of Jaigarh where people often come to visit.
Hawa Mahal
Tumblr media
Hawa mahal was built in the city of Jaipur and it is also known as "Palace of Winds", it was built by Lal Chand Ustad in 1799 and Hawa Mahal was built for royal women only.
The Hawa Mahal has been constructed in such a way that whether it is summer or winter, a lot of cold air comes.  The Hawamahal is designed in such a way that it has only windows, there is a tattoo cafe in front of the Hawamahal, from where a very lovely view comes. Jaipur is a city surrounded by hills on all sides (except in the south) Jaipur is a walled city Jaipur grew dramatically in size in the 20th century and 21st century,
Jal Mahal
Tumblr media
Situated in the middle of the picturesque Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur is the Jal Mahal which is a magnificent structure. Tha is a palace situated on the upper surface of the water. It is a marvel in itself. Jal Mahal was built as a hunting lodge for the Maharajas of Jaipur.  , now it is one of the major tourist places of the city.  Tourists now come to see it for sightseeing and entertainment. Toursplanner company can show you its views, and you also get good packages for it. Apart from Jal Mahal, Jaigarh, Nahargarh is also a good place.
Fairs are also started in Jalmahal, due to which the view of Jal Mahal has become even better. An Indian dress shop is also available there, from there you can click photos with an even better look and in the water of Jalmahal.  If there are fishes then the Jalmahal looks even better and beautiful.

A (hopefully) comprehensive list of everything I've acquired on this trip so far.
I'm 2.5 weeks into my 6 week trip and here's anything I have gotten so far:
Indian thread necklace from Abhi (my tour guide) on the first day
Elephant print I made in Jaipur for free and is going in my curio cabinet for India
A green scarf I got for free from the same textile place for winning trivia (unsure what I'll do with it because I don't really wear green and have a lot of scarves. I thought of giving it to my mom because green's her favorite color but I think she has too many scarves too so I don't know)
Taj Mahal magnet from Abhi
Henna from two sisters in Orchha (it is worn off now but I'm still counting it because it was beautiful and I loved it)
Recipes from Rajni's Cooking School in Orchha (to be copied and passed on to Adam)
Om bracelet from Varanasi tour guide (I don't wear bracelets and this one is brown too; I may just put it in the cabinet)
Earrings I bought at the homestay (definitely overpriced but I didn't care because the community needs it)
Mini prayer flags I bought for my curio cabinet in Pokhara
A book on Hindu and Buddhist symbols I bought in Pokhara
A new umbrella bought in Pokhara (my old one was already crappy, like I think evil ex gave it to me after he found it in his classroom, and it completely fell apart)
A cotton sleeping bag liner bought in Pokhara (per suggestion of Imogen after I mentioned I was going to have three more overnight train rides before my trip was over)
A charcoal grey cashmere sweater (I was on a shopping spree with Imo and couldn't resist because it was $22. I kind of wonder if I should have gotten more. The shopkeeper told us we were cute and we were like, dude, don't worry. We are absolutely buying your shit.)
A very heavy metal Shiva statue (This was a need, not a want)
A certificate for seeing Everest
A red thread bracelet from Abhi on the last day (I'll try to wear this one)
A red and gold shawl from Abhi on the last day (he was literally too good to us; I will miss him a lot, and I wonder if he would genuinely be cool with me one day staying at his empty house in Jodpur because I really want to see more Rajastan)
A Japanese cat pen that looks like Lucifer from a Thai 7-11 (impulse purchase with no regrets)
A little gold Buddha for my cabinet at the railway market (I was definitely overcharged but I wasn't going to argue about $2.50)
A limited edition Lip Monster Kate Lipstick from Eve & Boy (basically Thai Sephora as far as I could tell; Kate is a Japanese brand and the package was cute so that's my justification)
Dry shampoo from Eve & Boy (necessary; my hair is nasty)
At this point I will be leaving Thailand in two days. I will be getting curio items from Cambodia and Vietnam (and maybe Hawaii) but I hopefully won't acquire too much more. At least most of what I got I will definitely use.

Discovering Bhangarh Fort: India's Most Haunted Place
Nestled amidst the rugged Aravalli hills of Rajasthan, Bhangarh Fort stands as a testament to both architectural grandeur and mysterious folklore. Often referred to as the most haunted place in India, Bhangarh Fort attracts adventurers, history enthusiasts, and paranormal investigators alike. Let's delve into the intriguing tale of Bhangarh, exploring its history, legends, and the eerie aura that surrounds it.
History and Architecture
Bhangarh Fort, located approximately 83 kilometers from Jaipur, dates back to the 17th century. Built by Raja Madho Singh, the fort and its precincts once thrived with life, boasting palaces, temples, and intricately designed structures typical of Rajput architecture. The fort is protected by two prominent gates, the Lahori Gate and the Delhi Gate, each offering a glimpse into the fort's erstwhile glory.
The layout of Bhangarh Fort is marked by ancient temples dedicated to Hindu deities like Gopinath, Someshwar, and Keshava Rai. These temples, along with the royal palace ruins and marketplaces, speak volumes about the vibrant past of Bhangarh as a flourishing town.
Legends and Folklore
Despite its historical significance, Bhangarh Fort is shrouded in dark legends and eerie tales that have become part of local folklore. One of the most popular stories revolves around a curse cast by a wizard named Singhia on the fort and its inhabitants. According to the legend, Singhia fell in love with the beautiful princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. In an attempt to win her love through magic, Singhia was killed, but not before casting a curse on the entire town, leading to its abandonment and desolation.
Locals and visitors alike claim to have experienced paranormal activities within the fort premises. It is believed that the curse still lingers, preventing anyone from inhabiting the fort after sunset. The Archaeological Survey of India has even put up a signboard warning visitors against staying inside the fort complex after dark.
Visiting Bhangarh Fort
For adventurous souls and history buffs, Bhangarh Fort offers a captivating journey into the past and the supernatural. The fort opens its gates to visitors during the day, providing an opportunity to explore its historical structures, temples, and the scenic surroundings of the Aravalli hills.
The fort's eerie ambiance and its picturesque setting have also made it a popular destination for photographers and filmmakers. The crumbling ruins, overgrown with vegetation, create a hauntingly beautiful backdrop against the backdrop of the surrounding hills.
Conclusion
Bhangarh Fort stands as a testament to Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage and its intriguing blend of history and mystery. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a paranormal enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, a visit to Bhangarh Fort promises an unforgettable experience. Explore its ancient ruins, immerse yourself in its legends, and marvel at its haunting beauty — Bhangarh Fort is sure to leave an indelible mark on your journey through India.

As an Indian reader I hope you have a great time here!! The henna looks absolutely beautiful 👏You can squeeze out lemon juice onto it (once it's dry and flaky) so that the dye has a deeper color :) it can also be mixed with sugar I think, so that the dye lasts longer
Thank you! We do have an Indian student on the trip with us she recommended lime but I definitely will try lemon with sugar next time! India is beautiful! We went to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. I have about 5 days left but here are some pics I can share so far!
Highlights so far were definitely seeing the Taj which is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been in my life. Going to the marble inlay factory to learn how they custom inlayed different stones and gems into marble using the same techniques made me appreciate it even more. But also learning a lot about every historical site. we had amazing tour guides one was a professor of Indian studies and experienced amazing hospitality that is next level from everyone we encountered. I didn’t realize how much the structures were influenced by both Hindu and Muslim art influences even some Roman. Seeing the beauty of how they come together is amazing. Oh and the custom hand printed fabric seeing how that was made and then picking out fabric to get a custom made lehenga 😍
I also got to feed a monkey a cookie and ride an elephant lol 😆
Now settling down in Ahmedabad working with a non profit on a marcom plan.
Definitely recommend anyone to visit it’s amazing! 🤩

Golden Triangle Tour: The Golden Triangle of India is a tourist circuit in India.
The tourism footprint in India is growing, and it's no surprise that the densest concentrations of these footprints are in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. If you calculated the shortest distance between these three points, you'd get an imaginary triangle in the middle of the country. As a result, it's known as the Golden Triangle. Are you visiting India for the first time? Most tour operators, including Travelogy India, recommend the Golden Triangle for an India 101 experience. The following are the top recommended Golden Triangle Tour packages
Golden triangle tour 3 Days Golden triangle tour 4 Days Golden triangle tour 6 Days
Tumblr media
What is Golden Triangle Tour?
It is one among modern India's well-trodden and well-explored paths. The schedule for the Golden Triangle includes trips in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. The journey includes famous Indian architectural wonders, Rajasthan sites, and natural wonders. Begin your tour by exploring Delhi. Visit the Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Humayun Tomb, Lodi Garden, and other Mughal-era structures built of red sandstone and marble. Later, go to Agra to witness the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, and other sights. Later, go to the Rajasthan desert region to visit the imperial city of Jaipur, which features palaces, forts, the Jantar Mantar, markets, and much more.
What to do in the Golden Triangle?
So, what's so great about three random locations that form an imagined triangle? On the map, it is simple to select four locations and form a square. Would that make the square more interesting? Not always. Furthermore, the Golden Triangle is not just three random sites that are famous for the form their locations make on a map. What's inside those destinations is what makes the Golden Triangle spectacular.
Delhi - Infusing exquisiteness into Islamic life
Walk through the streets of Old Delhi to enter a virtual time machine and travel back several centuries. The old havelis, market squares, and cobblestone alleys live up to the title "Old." What else can Delhi offer you besides some ancient monuments? Because Delhi is the country's capital, it is connected to nearly all of the country's locations. Within Delhi, you may experience the culture of the entire country, whether it's through performance arts, cuisine, festivals, or shopping.
Agra - The Mughal, Marble, and Marvel Capital
The Taj Mahal, a polished marble mausoleum known for its carvings, structural beauty, and use of semi-precious stones in construction, is the crown gem of all Indian architecture. Once you've finished photographing the Taj Mahal and have filled your memory disc, it's time to move on to other elite Mughal landmarks such as Agra Fort, Baby Taj, Akbar's Tomb, and many more. Fatehpur Sikhri, the abandoned capital city of the Mughal Empire, is another reminder of the Mughal Empire.
Jaipur is a fortified city with hidden temples.
This is a fortified city. Starting at City Palace, you can go on a history walking tour of palaces and forts. The craggy terrain of Aravalli hills with a hint of desert view provides this place a majestic appearance. Immerse yourself in Jaipur's attractions such as Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Shri Jagatshironmani Temple, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, and many more.

Day 12 : Ratten Villas - Jodhpur
20th March 2023
The cake was delicious, light and creamy and went very well with a glass of red wine 🍷
We all wore our finery yesterday evening and were ready for our anniversary meal, unfortunately the rain that had been threatening all day decided to pour down just as our evening was starting.  It was a double edged sword really because on the one hand the rain was a welcome respite from the heat and on the other, we were unable to have our meal in the garden.
Unfortunately the restaurant had all the ambience of a mortuary, it was cold, lifeless and sterile. Not to be deterred we ordered our meals, relishing the thought of the distinctive Rajasthani food, which turned out to be not so delectable after all as it was far too salty. To be absolutely certain my tastebuds weren’t playing up, I shared my meal out and we all agreed on the same.
So there was a storm raging around us, my meal was awful, so what else could go wrong ? Plenty as it turns out.
I was mildly irritated by the time we got back to our room but not enough to be upset, after all I wasn’t charged for the disastrous food I had chosen for myself.
The door was locked, the shower was on except it didn’t work, the joy stick controlling the water speed and the temperature was hanging off the metal bit that should have held it on. To add insult to injury as I called Tony for assistance, I walked slap bang into the shower door.
Nursing my bruised nose, I finally managed to get showered and ready for bed.
We woke to glorious sunshine this morning and had a very passable breakfast in the garden after which we met our guide for a tour of Mehrangarh Fort.
Mehrangarh Fort holds the pride of place in Jodhpur because of its splendid architecture and the diverse history associated with it. Considered as one of the most formidable and magnificent forts of Rajasthan, Mehrangarh fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459. The fort is spread over an area of 5 km and is built on 125 m high hill in the outskirts of Jodhpur city.
There are seven gates, which can be used to enter the Mehrangarh fort. These 7 gates are made by different rulers, and are built in honour of victory over Bikaner and Jaipur armies.
You can see the panoramic view of the Jodhpur city from this fort, which seems like a blue carpet laid at the foot of a hill.
Once we had got extremely hot and sweaty, we rejoined our driver for a short drive to Jaswant Thada.
The Jaswant Thada is an architectural marvel with intricate carvings. Famed as one of the most beautiful white marble cenotaphs, it was built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in commemoration of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. This white marble wonder of Rajasthan is often called the Taj Mahal of Marwar. The splendid edifice is a perfect example of Rajputana style of architecture. Its impeccable design and architecture is symbolic of the fine craftsmanship of the bygone era. The main memorial is built like a temple, with beautiful domes and finely carved sculptures.  We had a quick look around, posed for a photo with two sweet little girls on holiday from Assam and for some reason went back to the fort.
I was caught totally unaware because I didn’t realise that our guide had decided that we would enjoy a walk through the blue city of old Jodhpur via the Heritage route.
What do you see in your minds eye when you read the word “ Heritage?”. Well you can dismiss that picture immediately, because in India the word “Heritage” means a slippery, broken, steep, perilous and unstable road.
I got no further than about two feet when I decided that discretion is the better part of valour and reached out to hang onto Tony and with the other I clutched the guide.
Inch by inch I faltered down the hill, whilst around me strode down confidently.
Finally we reached the bottom of this never ending slope and straight into a chaotic town of honking and revving, shouting and shrieking. Jodhpur bustled with markets and restaurants, homes and shops, it’s air hanging heavy with pungent cooking smells, fresh produce and people.
To walk through Jodhpur was like nothing I’ve experienced before, I thought the streets and slums of Delhi were nerve wracking, but this town is in a league of its own.  I held onto my phone and handbag tightly as we negotiated the narrow streets of the market, quite simply there was no personal space, everyone barged in and out of spaces, voices were raised in bartering for goods, dogs trotted around our legs and occasionally a fight would break out.  Now I see why women carry  goods on their heads, carting a shopping bag around in such a confined area is not practical at all.  Flies buzzed around the food and pools of liquid formed on the ground and we walked on, frequently jumping out of the way of scooters, mopeds, motorbikes and tuk tuk’s which flew by us and from all directions and missing us by mere inches.
Finally we found Jagdish and boy did he look a delightful sight, I leaned back in relief and utter exhaustion as I settled back into my seat.
It’s the sensory overload that is so exhausting in India, there is no respite from the incessant noise, even as I’m sitting by the pool, in this relative haven of calm, I can hear the constant noise of traffic. I don’t think India ever sleeps.
We got back to the RV and the manager greeted us, disappointment clearly etched on his face, he had kindly moved us into a new room, which is perfect and at dinner this evening he stood us a bottle of wine.

Nestled in the Aravalli hills, next to the Ghat Ki Guni tunnel, lies the temple dedicated to Chulgiri. This is the peak of the Chulgiri trek Mountains. During renovations, installers added 24 additional Tirthankars and a water tank to collect prayer water. Then, in 1982, builders erected a 65-foot dome and one of Mahaveer Swami’s tallest statues, standing around 21 feet tall and carved from a single piece of white stone. Craftsmen use white marble to create this stunning temple, which features exquisite and unique decorations.

BIRLA MANDIR IN JAIPUR, (Rajasthan Devdarshan)
Tumblr media
Birla Mandir, also known as the Laxmi Narayan Temple, is a majestic Hindu temple in Jaipur, Rajasthan, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Located at the foot of Moti Dungari Hill, this modern-day temple is renowned for its stunning white marble architecture, intricate carvings, and serene atmosphere, making it one of Jaipur’s most popular tourist attractions and a significant place of worship for the Hindu community.
Architectural Beauty
The temple was constructed by the renowned Birla family in 1988, following their tradition of building temples across India. Unlike many ancient temples in India, Birla Mandir is relatively modern, but it is built with the same grandeur and precision as those historical monuments. The entire temple is crafted from pure white marble, symbolizing peace and purity, which gives it a captivating appearance, especially when it is illuminated at night.
The design of Birla Mandir is inspired by traditional Rajasthani architecture blended with a modern touch. Its three domes represent the three main religions in India: Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity, a symbol of secularism and unity. As you approach the temple, you’re greeted by intricate carvings on the pillars and walls, depicting mythological themes from Hindu scriptures and historical legends. Inside, the sanctum houses beautifully crafted idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi, both meticulously carved from a single piece of marble. The idols are adorned with elaborate jewelry, adding to their divine aura.
The Exquisite Carvings and Symbols
One of the most remarkable aspects of Birla Mandir is the exquisite artistry displayed in its carvings. The temple walls are adorned with images and quotes from various saints, philosophers, and spiritual leaders, highlighting themes of peace, tolerance, and unity. Additionally, the temple features carvings and symbols from other religions, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the temple and the Birla family’s commitment to fostering harmony among different religious communities.
The exterior walls of the temple are a testament to the skill of the craftsmen, with depictions of various Hindu deities as well as other historical figures like Socrates, Buddha, Zarathustra, and Confucius. These carvings add a unique cultural dimension to the temple, illustrating a global sense of spirituality that goes beyond any one religion.
Peaceful Ambiance and Spiritual Significance
Inside, the temple offers a serene ambiance perfect for meditation and prayer. The spacious hall allows sunlight to filter in, creating an ethereal glow that enhances the spiritual atmosphere. As one of Jaipur's most revered temples, Birla Mandir attracts not only devotees but also visitors who seek solace in its peaceful surroundings. The temple's open courtyard and landscaped gardens provide visitors with a place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the setting.
Visiting Birla Mandir
Birla Mandir is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Jaipur, not only for its architectural beauty but also for the spiritual experience it offers. The temple is open throughout the day, but the best time to visit is in the evening when the temple is illuminated. The marble structure glows under the lights, giving it a surreal beauty that adds to the temple’s allure.
