How to Connect Any Phone or Tablet to Your TV Using USB
Connecting a phone to your TV isn’t as simple as you would possibly think. Whether you would like to enjoy Netflix, share photos, or use it for home working, hooking up a cable between your phone and television are often tricky.
But it’s not impossible—it’s all a matter of choosing the proper cable.
Here’s what you would like to understand the way to connect an Android or iOS phone or tablet to a TV employing a USB cable.
Why Use USB to attach Phones, Tablets, and TVs?
With the convenience and prevalence of casting to mirror a phone screen wirelessly, you would possibly be curious why you ought to use a USB to TV connection for your phone.
If you hook phone to your TV with a hardwired connection, you enjoy a low-latency signal. as an example, if you propose to mirror your phone to television for gaming, you’ll need a USB connection instead of a wireless configuration. This vastly reduces lag.
Plus, for situations where you lack Wi-Fi or have a weak wireless signal, you’ll need a wired connection instead.
To connect your phone or tablet to a TV, you'll use one among the subsequent methods: Android: USB-C cable with DisplayPort USB cable with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) USB cable with SlimPort iPhone/iPad
Lightning cable (iPhone and iPad)
Which option you employ depends on your specific device and OS. Although all methods are similar, the method differs for connecting an iPhone versus an Android device.
Similarly, your connection method varies counting on your needs. Simply viewing photos on a compatible television requires your charging cable and mobile device. except for screen mirroring, you’ll need a USB adapter. How to Connect Android Phones and Tablets to TVs With USB
You have two options for connecting Android phones and tablets to your TV: USB-C cable with DisplayPort support USB cable with MHL USB cable with Slimport
We’ll check out each below.
1. Connect Your Phone to an HDMI TV Using USB Type-C
The most recent Android smartphones feature a USB Type-C port. Also referred to as USB-C, this is often a cylinder-shaped input that replaces micro-USB and is employed for charging and data transfer.
Including support for the DisplayPort standard, USB-C is often wont to mirror your phone or tablet’s display to a TV.
Simply connect the USB-C cable to Android, then connect this to an appropriate docking station or USB-C to HDMI adaptor.
2. Connecting Phone to TV Using USB With MHL
MHL is one among the foremost common solutions for connecting a phone to an HDMI TV with a micro-USB cable. This technology allows MHL-compatible devices like smartphones and tablets to attach to televisions and projectors.
You can browse an inventory of MHL-enabled devices on the official MHL website.
To use Mobile High-Definition Link, you'll need MHL-enabled phone USB to HDMI MHL adapter or cable HDMI cable Power cable
Although this is often the overall setup, the precise cable you’ll need varies. Google MHL cable [your device name] to seek out an inventory of compatible cables.
For a USB to TV connection using MHL, first, attach your phone via an MHL adapter. The adapter would require power either from a USB port on the cable or an external source.
Although MHL initially required an influence connection, MHL 2.0 makes this non-essential. Still, since MHL does draw power from the mobile device, it’s knowing to connect an influence cable.
Next, connect your phone to your television with the MHL cable. then, you ought to see your phone screen on your TV; it’s plug-and-play.
Overall, Mobile High-Definition Link is one of the simplest solutions for connecting an Android phone to a TV employing a USB cable.
3. Connecting Phone to TV Using USB SlimPort
If you've got an older phone, you would possibly connect your phone to a TV with a SlimPort cable. While almost like MHL, SlimPort offers different outputs but uses the micro-USB connection.
Whereas MHL is restricted to HDMI, SlimPort outputs to HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, and VGA. This makes it better suited to a spread of displays, including older monitors and TVs with no digital inputs.
Unlike MHL, SlimPort doesn't draw power from mobile devices.
You’ll need the after attaching a phone to your TV employing a SlimPort adapter: SlimPort-compatible phone (SlimPort’s list of supported devices) A micro-USB SlimPort cable or adapter Appropriate video cable for your display (HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, or VGA)
Begin by plugging the SlimPort adapter into your phone. Then, attach the SlimPort adapter to your display using the right cable. you ought to then be ready to view your phone’s screen on a TV. Like MHL, it’s plug-and-play.
iPhone or iPad to TV With USB?
As iPhones and iPads don’t have USB, you can’t use this as a connection method. But you'll connect them to a TV employing a cable.
If you own an iPhone 5 or newer, it'll have a Lightning connector. to attach your iPhone to a TV you’ll need the Lightning digital AV adapter for HDMI outputs, or the Lightning to VGA adapter if you've got a VGA display. Buy the cable that matches your TV.
Older iOS devices with the old 30-pin port instead use the 30-pin VGA adapter.
You can connect an iPad to your TV through an equivalent means. Again, you’ll presumably need a Lightning cable for this. Only the iPad 3 and earlier use a 30-pin cable. All other iPads, including every iPad Mini and iPad Pro, use a Lightning cable.
Once you’ve plugged in your adapter, simply attach the video output to your display. Then, your phone screen will mirror to the TV. Apple’s official Lightning adapters contain a further Lightning port for charging while viewing content on a second screen. USB to TV: Connecting as a memory device
While the foremost common use case for connecting a phone to a TV using USB is for screen mirroring, there’s a choice. rather than screen mirroring, you'll also simply view files like pictures on a TV.
However, this may require a compatible monitor, TV, or projector. The latest displays should accept USB storage.
Of the varied USB to TV connection options, this is often the simplest. Since it only requires a phone, USB cable, and television with a USB input, it’s simple to line up. Which specific cable you would like depends on your phone.
On an iPhone or iPad, use a Lightning cable (or 30-pin for older devices). Alternatively, Android users need a micro-USB or USB-C cable. The USB cable that came together with your phone or tablet should work fine. USB to TV: Connecting to look at Photos
Modern Android devices don’t support USB Mass Storage, so your TV won’t view your device as a real drive.
This assumes that your TV or monitor features a USB input capable of displaying files from a connected memory device.
Simply connect your cable to your phone, then to the TV. With the quality USB end of the cable connected to your display, change the input on your TV to USB.
On Android, you’ll likely get to change your USB settings to Transfer files or Transfer photos (PTP). to try to do this, bear down your notifications from the highest of the screen when connected. within the menu, tap the USB is charging this device notification to vary it.
Note that this doesn’t work with all TVs. In some cases, the USB ports are purely for firmware updates. Use Samsung DeX to attach Your Samsung Phone to a TV
Among the foremost popular Android devices available, you’ll find Samsung flagship handsets. These feature connectivity with televisions and monitors. For pure screen mirroring, you’ll need a USB-C to HDMI cable.
To connect a Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+/Note 8 and later to your TV, merely attach a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Plug the USB-C male into the USB-C charging port on your Samsung Galaxy device. Then run the HDMI cable into your TV.
However, Samsung Galaxy S8, S9, and Note 8/9 devices also include DeX. Bridging the gap between mobile and desktop, DeX offers a desktop experience run from your handset. you'll run all an equivalent Android apps, however, access your phone’s gallery, and get everything on the large screen
Since this is often proprietary technology, the tactic for connecting a DeX-enabled Samsung phone to a TV differs from standard hookups.
For the whole Galaxy S8 and Note 8 line up, also as S9 and S9+, you’ll need a dock to use DeX.
However, Note 9 doesn’t require a dock. Instead, the Note 9 enters DeX mode with merely a USB-C to HDMI cable. That’s much more useful than a fanatical dock.
If employing a dock, you'll also need an influence cable for powering the dock and charging your device. to seek out out more, see our guide to using DeX to show your phone or tablet into a computer. Connect Phones, Tablets, and TVs With USB: Success!
While a USB to TV connection varies by device, connection type, and display inputs, it’s thankfully simple to line up. However, don’t forget that wireless casting is typically more convenient.
Regardless of whether you’re using an Android, iPhone, or a Samsung device running DeX, there’s how to attach your phone or tablet to a TV for viewing on a bigger screen.

Character Questionnaire: Merrinyn Delorsath
BASICS -
1. Height?
5′5″. (She is of average height. At least in her former settlement.)
2. Eye colour?
Black. (It’s actually dark blue.)
3. Do they need glasses?
No. (That doesn’t stop her from wearing one whenever she feels like it.)
4. Scars and birthmark?
None. (It’s hard to get scars when you’re always far from the action, drowning in books. She did get a paper cut a few days after leaving her old settlement, settling for the surface to learn more about this part of the world, though that amounted to nothing more than a few minutes of annoyance.)
5. Tattoos and piercings?
None.
6. Right or left handed?
Right-handed. (For a time in her youth, she instead she was ambidextrous. That was until she figured out the word she was looking for was “amphibious”.)
7. Any disabilities? Physical or mental.
None. (She can’t pronounce the letter “R” if it’s in the last syllable of a word, as in “wafer” or “paper”, ending up either mispronouncing it as the letter “W” instead, as in “wafew” or “papew”, or accidentally speaking in a British accent. Don’t tell her I told you this. She’s very sensitive about her rhotacism.)
8. Do they have any allergies?
None. (...though she once almost died after eating crab. That was most likely due to improper cleaning of the food. It never happened again. Strange.)
9. Favourite colour?
Seafoam Green. Or blue. (She also likes pink.)
10. Typical outfits?
Whichever works, really. I prefer clothing that would not impede my mobility over clothing that’s all for show. (She used to wear simple sleeveless, collarless, pants-less garments made of coral, see below, until she moved to the surface-world where a kind old lady gave her common clothes for free because she looked “cold” and “very naked”. Still, she tends to rip out the sleeves and collars and even pant-legs of her clothes whenever she feels like it, usually when she’s near the water and there’s no tedious socializing to be had.)
11. Do they wear any makeup?
No. (She does, but only rarely and mostly during “special” occasions.)
12. What weapon do they use, if any?
Between my magic and my staff, I can be quite the formidable fighter. (She isn’t. She has also been thinking of acquiring a trident recently. Three pointed tips are better than one blunt head.)
PERSONALITY -
13. Are they more optimistic or pessimistic?
Neither. I dwell in between optimism and pessimism. Nothing is ever absolutely positive or negative. There is also the middle, and there I thrive. (Technically, she’s more optimistic, considering she’s always optimistic that each day holds new things for her to learn. She does get pretty pessimistic when things don’t go her way, though, especially if she becomes obsessed with learning about something and her progress somehow gets impeded.)
14. Are they introverted or extroverted?
Neither. I am an ambivert. (Mostly true, though she leans more towards being an introvert, as she spends more time being an introvert, with all her research and reading; however, she doesn’t get drained as much when she has to be an extrovert, though she tends to avoid opportunities where she has to be one.)
15. What are their pet peeves?
When someone interrupts my research on anatomy by slaying the creature I am to observe. *very audible sigh* Brutes... (She also can’t stand people who can’t wait in line, even though she herself hates lines.)
16. What bad habits do they have?
Someone once said I’m terrible with making friends, though to be fair, I’m here to study and learn, not to make friends. (She spends way too much time with her books and research and not enough time connecting with real people. It’s uncertain whether this is because she’s such an obsessive sage or it’s just a triton thing.)
17. Do they have any phobias?
I fear nothing. Fear only exists when one does not understand something. I seek to understand everything. I do not fear. (Insects, especially flying insects, specifically cockroaches. She thinks they’re gross and they always have the high ground when it comes to the element of surprise. She’d probably like them if they were larger, though, since she’d at least be able to keep them from entering her orifices without permission. Oh, and falling from great heights. She hates that.)
18. How do they display affection?
I don’t. Affection is unnecessary. As long as you are useful and efficient, you are. (She really doesn’t. At least, she doesn’t know how to. Even her compliments are awkward and strange.)
19. How competitive are they?
Competition is good as motivation for personal growth, but only when it motivates a competitor towards personal growth. (She isn’t as competitive as others are, though it’s mostly because she’s a triton and tritons don’t really consider surface dwellers as competition. At least, that’s what she believes.)
20. If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
No response. (It differs on a daily basis, more like it adds up, but she doesn’t take to it like changing herself because she doesn’t like herself. It’s actually more of changing something here and then something there to unleash the full potential of her existence. Like having eyes that see better in the deepest dark or gills that can allow her to safely breathe in any environment. It’s alteration in the spirit of evolution, not alteration because of emotions.)
21. Do they have any obscure hobbies or routines?
Is collecting forks an obscure hobby? (It is.)
BACKSTORY -
22. What are the names and ages of their close family members? Parents, siblings, etc.
My father’s name is Mernes and my mother’s name is Erryn. I have one older brother, Jharvas, and no other siblings.
23. Is their family alive and are they still in contact with them?
Yes, they are all alive and well. My father and my mother live together back home while my brother has also set out to, according to him, find himself. I’m certain he’s simply pursuing the vampire woman again. Men have never been quite as smart as us. (Her brother is indeed with a female vampire but he’s not pursuing her. They’re working together, trying to make a life with each other.)
24. Where are they from? City, nation?
I’m from the sea, the depths of which no surface dweller may survive. (Her settlement is within the oceans east of Hegaehend, far east. They call it the City of Sh'lafijn, though others simply refer to as Marai.)
25. Did they have a childhood best friend?
I had childhood friends, though I don’t think it wise to select from them a singular best. (She does. Her name was Dhorimyn. They’ve lost contact over the years. The last she’s heard of her, Dhorimyn had left their settlement for parts unknown.)
26. Have they had any pets?
I had a pet shark named Kadita. (They’re dead now.)
27. Did they grow up rich or poor? What were their living conditions like?
We used to move a lot when I was but a young girl. It took my parents a while to settle down in a place of our own. We were neither rich nor poor. We were in the middle.
28. What is their educational background?
I went through formal schooling, learned from the greatest mentors of my settlement, and grew into a fine sage. I learned more on my own than I did with anyone. (She’s not kidding. Her curiosity actually led to her amassing more knowledge about things outside of their settlement than the “greatest mentors” of their settlement, which were the only 10 triton scholars of their settlement.)
29. As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up?
I always wanted to be a scholar, and now, here I am. (At one point, she also wanted to be a kraken. She thought having more limbs would be efficient. She was three.)
30. What advice would they give to their younger self?
If I ever, for some strange reason, meet my younger self, I would simply tell her to continue swimming towards her current path. She will become me, and I am the best she can ever be. (We’ll agree to disagree.)
31. Growing up, were they ever bullied or were they the bully?
I was never bullied. I never bullied anyone. I just didn’t have the time. All my focus were on my studies and my research. (She was bullied. For being too absorbed in her studies. She was often referred to as the “teacher’s suckerfish” by the other children. To this day, she still thinks it was a compliment because “a suckerfish assists its host by feeding off of its parasites.” She wasn’t wrong.)
32. Who do they look up to/who is their role model?
No response. (She currently doesn’t look up to anyone, especially since she’s out of the sea and she takes to surface dwellers as subjects to study, not mentors to put on a pedestal. She used to look up to an older mentor from her settlement but he died after trying to “befriend” a female shark as a male shark, so that was that. It’s a long story, and it’s not what you think.)
PRESENT -
33. Do they currently have a place of residence?
I rented a small place for me and my...friends in Arx, at the Whale Water Port. It’s close to the water, plenty of fish, and has access to several libraries and universities. It’s the best place for me here on the surface. (Remember the kind old lady who gave her free clothes because she looked “very naked”? That became her landlady. It’s a good place for someone living “alone”.)
34. What is their most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession? I suppose the letter from my late colleague could fill this role. For now. At least until I find the answer to his question, and I will. Eventually. (She’s not as into possessions as most people are, so having a treasured...item isn’t on her radar. That should change once she gets a particular trident, though, and maybe a particular cloak and a particular decanter to boot. Maybe.)
35. What is their drink of choice?
I don’t drink that much, but I seemed to have developed a taste for the drink called Bilgewater. It reminds me so much of home. (Bilgewater is of course the bluish-brown, sometimes jet black, concoction that's made by soaking the inner organs of various sea creatures soaking in a fermented brine and then running them through a sieve to remove the bones and viscera. It's usually on most tavern's menu for at least 5 copper pieces, or you can ask your friendly neighborhood fisher to brew you one for the same price. The only real side effect of this drink it that the lingering taste of rotten, brackish seafood remains on the palette for a few hours.)
36. Which king/queen are they loyal to, if any?
None have sought me out yet, so I’m loyal to none. That should change if any reach out and we find ourselves agreeing in our principles. (So long as she get to do her research, she’s not very picky on a monarch to side with, but only if completely necessary. She’d rather not get drawn to unnecessary conflict if they can avoid them.)
37. Have they ever killed anyone?
No response. (In every attempt at progress, there will always be a casualty or two. Maybe even three. It is rarely intentional, however.)
38. What was their last promise and did they keep it?
I promised my brother I’d stay with our parents, keep them safe... (She could not keep that promise.)
LOVE -
39. What was their first kiss like, if they’ve had one?
It was...wet. And pretty sloppy. The things we do to satiate our curiosity, right? (Of course it was wet. She was underwater. It was mostly sloppy because it was their first kiss, and her “research” partner was understandably nervous, especially since she secretly liked Merrinyn. They never spoke of it again, mostly because Merrinyn concluded that it was not a fruitful experiment and Dhorimyn decided to keep her secret her own.)
40. Are they in a relationship/have a love interest?
Love is an unnecessary distraction that I cannot currently afford. (She is too busy with her research to consider a relationship, any kind of relationship, at the moment.)
41. Have they ever been in love?
Like I said, an unnecessary distraction. (She has not, though she believes she has.)
42. Have they ever had their heart broken?
No response. (Numerous times: When her pet shark Kadita passed away, when her older brother Jharvas left them in pursuit of a vampire, when she slowly lost contact with Dhorimyn, and when her favorite mentor died to sharks while in the form of a shark.)
SPIRITUALITY - 43. Do they follow a god, if so who?
I don’t follow gods. I don’t have faith in them as much as others do. I only have faith in myself, in what I can see, and in what I can prove. (That said, she does appear to admire both Habbakuk and Melora, especially the latter whose stories and lore she views as quite inspiring.)
44. What do they think happens to them after death?
I cease to exist and my body decays to join nature and the sea. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.
45. What is their spirit animal?
A kraken. Definitely a kraken. (She’s more like a dolphin, but okay.)

How the Empire could’ve won the war
Imagine if The Empire had competent military leaders and decided to bypass Palpatine’s overconfidence and incompetence. These are ways I think the Empire could’ve won. Before anyone calls me out, this is just for fun and I do not believe they should’ve won, I just think if more competent Imperials were in charge aside from Thrawn, The Empire could’ve won.
Better PR. Seriously, The Case for the Empire lays out an excellent defense for the Galactic Empire. Basically, the Republic was rotting, everyone saw that. All the Empire had to do was take power and not make people desperate enough to rebel. Keep the peace, enforce the law and not be so heavy handed.
Do not be dependent on fear. When Palpatine ascended as emperor, ended the rotting Republic and ended the Clone Wars basically everyone was happy. However in only 20+ years he went from most loved person in the galaxy to the most feared/hated one. There was no need to build the Death Stars and such a massive military. Those were necessary for rule through fear. But instead of fear Palpatine could’ve ruled by love. He was definitely cunning enough to fool the galaxy further. Instead Palpatine’s, Vader’s and Tarkin’s methods led to a creation of a giant rebellion that brought the Empire down.
Act like a real Empire with no Xenophobia. Induct alien races into their empire and continue their expansion by conquering territory while promoting their way of life over others. Their downfall was being dogmatic and authoritarian to the point that everyone rebelled against their regime.
Don’t terrorize other species. Whether Palpatine genuinely hated other races than humans or just pretended to do in order to divide his potential enemies it was a bad move. Excluding non-humans from the upper echelons of the Imperial military and power structure (Thrawn, Grand Inquisitor or Mas Amedda excluded) limited the Empire’s power base. Terrorizing other species created more enemies the Empire had to deal with and which helped to brought it down.
Krennic’s survival. I fee like the Death Star might not have been destroyed in A New Hope if Orson Krennic was still in charge. He was far more in tune with the battlestation’s capabilities than Tarkin ever was. I feel like he would have recognized the threat to the base sooner and squashed the Rebel fighters in the trench sooner He wasn't afraid to get into the battle and it really wasn't his fault that the plans fell into the wrong hands, the Rebels just outclassed the Empire during that sneak attack. Tarkin's blind arrogance and underestimation of the Rebels is what allowed the Death Star to be destroyed.
A New Hope 1. Recover any jettisoned escape pods right away, otherwise destroy them: Some see this a major plot hole. I'd say people (and imperial personnel, for that matter), do make mistakes. To avoid those, they should have had a pursuit protocol: Pull the captured ship in, then close the doors, maybe have two or three squadrons of TIE fighters doing the rounds, in case a escape pod gets out before the doors are closed and, more important, have some recovery ships out, so that fleeing pods can be captured instead of just blasted into oblivion. A captured pod can be searched. As far as we know, only one copy of the plans was made. 2. Disable the Millenium Falcon: You just captured a ship that matches another ship you were chasing, no one is inside, at the very least, take the keys off the ignition, remove the battery, maybe secure it with a chain and a lock. And they had time to work on it, enough time to install a tracking device, anyway. However, I'm willing to give them this one: Let's say they were absolutely sure the Rebellion would not find anything useful by looking at the plans, so it was fine to let them escape with them, make presumably a hundred copies and spread them across the galaxy. That level of confidence in your development and validation teams is amazing. Not only do you think a potential enemy will not find any flaws, but you're also convinced they won't try to build their own space station using your plans. Bravo. 3. Build an Imperial blockade of Star Destroyers around the Death Star. 4. Send the Imperial Fleet to Yavin IV, not your ultimate weapon: The Death Star had just accomplished what it had been built to do: It was a last-resort enforcer of policy. They destroyed an entire, fully populated planet, because Tarkin wanted to do a demonstration. That was stupid, but effective anyway, it would definitely make it into the news all over the place. Then you put the gun away, hopefully never to use it again. Any opposition in the galaxy would have crumbled at the chance of seeing that thing show up in the sky. They had tracked the Millenium Falcon to Yavin IV, but the Rebel Fleet was clearly not there. The attack on the Death Star was executed with thirty small ships, hardly a major engagement (unlike the battle against the second Death Star). If anything, the Battle of Yavin could have been compared in size to the Battle of Hoth, which was dealt with using a subset of the Imperial Navy, plus infantry. In the meantime, they could have done some additional vulnerability analysis with the Death Star well hidden elsewhere, find the exhaust port and maybe even other vulnerabilities, and put torpedo-proof blinds on it.
Empire Strikes Back 1. The Battle of Hoth: There are eight Star Destroyers (Executor, 6 smaller but still impressive Star Destroyers of two classes and one Victory class) involved. Executor closes with the planet and proceeds to blast the surface with their turbolaser batteries, ignoring the shield generator. Eventually the base with flood (with magma or ice). The two Imperial-1 class destroyers fly interference for the Executor, keeping fighter wings in the air as well as intercepting anything attempting to escape. The four Imperial-II class destroyers blockade the planet: One at each pole, and one either side of the equator to watch for trickery. The Victory class destroyer is a mobile interception device for capital ships and corvettes launching from Hoth. Now all they need to do is wait. They'll either pick the base off piecemeal, destroy it with Turbolaser Terraforming or the rebels will attempt to flee: In which case, the remaining destroyers will pick them off. The Ion Cannon doesn't act as a permenent 'disable', the base has a limited power generator and there are too many ships for the Ion Cannon to cover for. The planet will give way long before they starve the rebels out. Hell, the 501st had elements in the fleet sent, they could have just left everyone in orbit and stuffed Vader with them into a drop pod, unleashing on the base instead of the costly assault. 2. On Bespin: A heavier hand. The figurehead of the rebellion and five of its greater heroes were present.. and all of them got away. As soon as the trap was sprung, simply moving in with heavy interception cover would have been enough to decapitate the Rebellion. They had, at the bare minimum, twelve fighters: Three ties, 8 tie-interdictors and at least one Tie Defender (Which was probably capable of destroying the Falcon alone). They'd surrender before dying, so Vader gets his apprent-er, 'the emperor's prize', the Rebellion gets executed in a suitable gory fashion on Galactic Holovision and the Rebellion ends. 3. The Falcon, a known dangerous and rebel-owned craft, was sitting on its landing pad the whole time. You've got EIGHT Tie Interdictors (bombers) prowling Bespin. Maybe one could spare a second to drop some ordinance on the powered down craft? The one on a pad with no supports barring its umbilical, about 50-100m out from its parent building? 4. If you won’t destroy the Falcon, criple the Falcon. Seriously, cripple the Falcon: The same technicians who disabled the hyperdrive could've taken a few more minutes to mess up the rest, making it unable to take off. Leia, Chewie, Lando and the droids were already surrounded at the landing platform. It would've ended up in a horrible standoff or maybe even a peaceful surrender. But it would have ended there. Afterwards, Vader would've sensed and captured Luke, making sure he was given top-notch medical attention and a high-end replacement hand. Then, who knows, maybe he could've have enjoyed some much-needed face time with his dad and get things off to a better start.
Return Of The Jedi 0. Jabba The Hutt is smart. Jabba does not hold a grand execution. He has Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando and the droids at his mercy. He plans to offer them up as hostages to the Empire. Since it's established that Vader and Jabba became partners in the new canon comics, I could see The Empire paying Jabba's demands. Jabba’s demands are simple. Money, a replacement Rancor and Princess Leia as his personal slave for the rest of her life. The Empire is more than happy to oblige. Vader comes to Jabba’s palace and takes the Rebels. The droids are dismantled. Han, Lando and Chewbacca are executed. Leia remains by Jabba’s side as a slave. Now that Luke has nothing left, he embraces his destiny and joins his father. They take out The Emperor and rule the galaxy as father and son. 1. Stop and arrest the crew of the stolen imperial shuttle: Part of this is pure speculation, but I assume the crew led into Endor by Han Solo had no way to let their fleet know that they had made it. So, as a perfect corollary to a great plan to force the Rebel Fleet into a decisive battle, set up an ambush to capture the advance team on the ground on Endor as soon as they set foot on it. Of course, it would be a lot easier to just blast the shuttle before it even lands. The thing was loaded with explosives, even a humble stormtrooper with a thermal detonator could have done the work. Of course, Vader would have been upset because of his insistence in mixing family and business. In any case, the generator shield would have remained intact, with the second Death Star being fully operational: It did manage to do a lot of damage to the Rebel Fleet, and the Imperial Navy could've done the rest once they started fighting at close range. Also, think of the fact that the Rebels would've had Lando Calrissian insisting that they should wait on Han to blow up the shield. At that moment, Han would've been either dead or sitting in a cell. And the assault on the Death Star II would’ve been a failure. 2. Vader tries to convince his son to join willingly. Vader does very little to connect with his son. He wants to call him Anakin? That's fine, let him do it. In fact, Vader could have used that to tell him his story, after all, the Jedi were indeed very arrogant and unfair towards Anakin, let Luke know that. Maybe even tell him about Padme, he seemed very curious about his mom, he would've listened to that. Same goes for the Emperor, instead of antagonizing Luke from the beginning, he could have asked him about the things he disliked about the Empire. What reforms would he support? Would he be willing to lead some of those reforms from the inside? Just because you're bad, doesn't mean you need to be crass. Also, Palpatine was friends with Padme, right to the very end, bring that up as well. 3. Exterminate the Ewoks. The Empire is not above genocide and would showcase even more reason to want to take them down. They're a warrior culture. You know it, they know it. Your first expedition to Endor was nearly foiled by the furry little bastards, who were surprised and outnumbered. You know, the one where they were looking for a site to set up the shield generator for the second Death Star? Or don't even bother! First, glass the area with turbolasers. A quick planetary firestorm and you've got a nice wasteland to build your facilities in. Suddenly, no ewoks. You can see the rebels coming a few kilometers away. Problem solved, no exploding battlestation.
Build the Death Star II around Coruscant. This is the heart of the enemy. It's in the galactic core, there is plenty of space for a shield generator and it is HEAVILY defended. Not only is it heavily defended, it's even further into the Core than Coruscant and Palpatine is even more powerful there. He can very literally puppet a good portion of the population.
Practical Mass Production Vs. Egomaniacal Engineering. Bigger is not always better. Constantly seeking to build bigger military weapons takes time, money, and resources all of which could be used towards the mass production and perfection of smaller weapons. For example, how many millions of Republic credits does an Imperial AT-AT walker cost and how completely unnecessary is a vehicle of that size on the battlefield? The Empire already has a fighting force a million times larger than any other in the galaxy, why does it need to waste time on things like Death Stars and Super Star Destroyers? Building smaller fighters and ships is the better way to go. Build more Interdictor-class cruisers. These ships used mass shadow generators to literally pull ships from hyperspace by projecting an illusion of the gravity well of a planet. In Star Wars a ship cannot go into hyperspace while inside a planet’s gravity well. This means that any rebel ships that unwittingly raid an Imperial facility where an Interdictor class vessel is present are sitting ducks from the moment they are sucked out of hyperspace. In the Imperial Handbook: A Commander’s Guide, Princess Leia writes that “if the Empire had known how to build smart instead of big they would have built thousands more Interdictors.” She goes on to claim that, if they had, the Rebel Alliance “might not have survived.”
Give Tie-Fighters armor and shields. Sacrificing armour and shielding for maneuverability and speed is gross incompetence. With armour and shielding plus the talented Imperial Pilots, you have an Imperial Navy that is a force to be reckoned with.
Do not sacrifice quality for quantity for the Stormtroopers. They are as they are meant to be, elite soldiers of the Imperial Military. So do just that. Make them elite, feared and powerful. Only recruit the best. Give better protection and the best tech. Give the quality of the Clone Troopers, but improve on that for the Stormtroopers and you have an army worth fearing.
Continued Production Of Dark Troopers. Sometimes a top secret expensive weapon can give you an advantage in war. One that the enemy will never see coming and not have the slightest hope in the universe of stopping. Enter the Imperial Dark Trooper, a seven-foot tall robot who fights better than any human being, has a jetpack, fast, fires a supercharged weapon that shoots both high concentrated plasma and rockets, and is considerably scary looking. A simply platoon's worth of these guys is enough to wipe out entire outposts and bases of their enemy. They work fast and leave nothing, but death in their wake. After a few minutes whatever was their target is gone, reduced to smoldering ruins. Sometimes their victims don't even have time to make a distress call. Needless to say, they're bad news, though they remain pretty much unheard of. Fortunately for the good guys, the Empire never got around to truly deploying the Dark Troopers in great numbers like the Trade Federation did with their goofy battle droids. You may already know the history from playing the classic first-person shooter Dark Forces, of course: the mercenary Kyle Katarn was able to locate the secret production facility for Dark Troopers in space. Once aboard the Arc Hammer, he destroyed the ship and the Dark Trooper menace was put out of commission to almost never be seen again. If they did have more than one facility, and use Dark Troopers solely in their battles and invasions, keeping the regular storm troopers in reserve, The Rebels would not have a hope of winning.
Design better Death Stars. This might be the single most obvious and easiest solution to them all. If you build a planet-sized space station, then you don't leave a small hole two meters wide for the enemy to launch torpedoes into. Now the idea of a Space Station needing an exhaust port does make sense in that pseudo sci-fi way. Don't want our Stormtroopers dying in the middle of the night to carbon monoxide ventilation problems, do? But why not place a metal slab with slits over it? Or raise the metal slab so the vents are on the sides? Or make the ventilation pipe more crooked inside so it's not a straight shot to the reactor core? What if? What if? What if? There are so many painfully simple solutions to the problem. I can forgive the idea of the second Death Star being blown up because it was still under construction, although - I'll say again - if the exhaust system leading to the reactor core isn't made in a stupid straight line then a ship isn't going to be able to pass through it.
Make Thrawn the commanding officer on Endor. I know what you must be thinking, Thrawn was sent away via Rebels finale. Let’s just say this is a scenario where Thrawn was successful on Lothal. Thrawn would have shown up weeks before the battle, taken one look at the "primitive natives" on Endor, and figured out a way to stop them from beating up AT-STs with giant wooden logs or killing stormtroopers with rocks. The Death Star lives, the Rebel fleet gets completely wiped out. Mobilizes the fleet comprised of Interdictor-class cruisers and Tie-Defenders. Thrawn would be smart enough not to allow Luke anywhere near The Emperor. Thrawn would successfully either destroy the shuttle or capture the landing party. Thrawn would convince Palpatine it is safer to execute the Jedi and Palpatine agrees and if Vader objects, Palpatine would just unleash a storm of force lightning killing Vader and securing victory for the Empire once and for all.

Doomception Hack Runs a Copy of Doom in Your Copy of Doom - download
💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 DOOM Hack 2. First released in , DOOM introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for. Relive the birth of the first-person shooter, wherever you go, and experience the classic demon-blasting fun that popularized the genre. Version history 2. We have also improved performance, and now support hz devices, which can be enabled in Video Options. The fast-paced FPS that changed gaming forever. Download for iOS. Request a Hack. Ratings 3. The old port of this actually had pretty good controls. This one is laughable. I end up basically walking around the whole time because moving my thumb halfway up the screen to move the proper speed is clunky and blocks the view. Automatic weapons are also not hold down to shoot like you might expect, you double tap for that as well. The old controls where there was a shoot button was awkward but made more sense. How unfortunate then with how bad these ports are. They may have fixed the issue with the slower music, but there is no reason for this game to run capped at 35 FPS with no option to change it. The aiming also feels terrible due to how your aim drifts whenever you swipe instead of just stopping. Thankfully, this can be bypassed by enabling a controller, but then you run into two more issues: non-rebindable controls, and more importantly, you cannot access the weapon wheel while using a controller, you can only cycle through weapons manually. Just let me hold down a bumper and use the analog stick to select a weapon instead of taking a millennium just to cycle through everything I have just for the weapon I want. What About Writing? I love doom, and when I saw it finally got an update for the most recent OS I was super excited to finally get to play on my iPhone again. Installation was fine, and the game looks pretty great although I wish it could take up more of the screen during gameplay but there is one glaring issue that removes all benefits and makes a download not worth it. The controls. The controls make this game almost completely unplayable, especially in the way that Doom is meant to be played: fast paced and frenetic action. With how poorly the controls were optimized for this release, it makes sustained fire for any gun difficult, and maneuvering extremely difficult because the aiming touch controls are very sluggish and non-responsive compared to how they should be. The old control style was fantastic. Bring that back and all will be well in the Doom mobile world because this update, as of now, honestly was a little insulting. I want to say I paid 7 or 8 dollars for the game but my memory is pretty bad, and after waiting years for it to be compatible again I would expect it not to have such a glaring oversight in playability. Please do consider fixing the controls. I remember playing this port and I refunded the game because of its terrible controls. However I heard the new update to Doom was out and this added better controls and widescreen. I bought the game and to my surprise it actually felt good ripping and tearing the demons. Widescreen made Doom SO much better. I will play Doom Mobile more now thanks to the update. The controls were good, and smooth. Fully customizable, including by size, and able to be moved around the screen. Unfortunately, there are a couple key things missing that hold this port back from greatness: 1 No controller or keyboard support. Doom was originally played using arrow keys and the space bar, no mouse required. Since iOS supports external keyboards, this would have been really cool. No side flipping got south paws, no movement joystick adjustment, to touch zone customization. If these were changed, this port would be 5 stars easy. I was watching a video on speedrun cheaters that has "DOOM" footage in it. That got me feeling nostalgic, thinking about the great fun playing it on the SNES: something thought to be a technological impossibilty. However, being the cautious consumer that I am, I read the bad ["Lowest Rated" in this case] reviews first to see what's what. Love the new opening screen. However, there are plenty of features from older versions for iOS that are missing, namely the option to switch your control scheme and the quick save feature. My gameplay is much more difficult without them. The advertisement also mentioned multiplayer but all I see is a single player option. I was expecting an updated version of this game, not a re-release as it seems that this is. One of my friends think Doom is [email protected] and Black Ops 2 is superior. He's dead wrong. This is the godfather of FPS games. Insulting this game is an extremely foolish thing to do. It's like insulting your parents because without them, you wouldn't be here; like if Doom wasn't here, we wouldn't have Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, etc. Anyways, few flaws which are very minor is the movement feels a bit sluggish. There are also some graphical bugs like enemies overlapping barrels when they're supposed to be behind them or whatever. Also, please change the music back to its original form. My favorite track, The Imp's Song, doesn't sound as good as the original. Still, fantastic game overall. If you love FPS games, definitely get this. That would complete me. I really appreciate this last update, especially bringing back the classic title screen! Overall, this is a fantastic port of a ln undisputed gaming classic and the latest update is certainly appreciated and most definitely a step in the right direction. Please keep up the great work devs! More By This Developer. You May Also Like. ----
M grew up along the northwestern coast of Faerun in the large port city of Waterdeep. Their parent's talent in business had risen them to a place of wealth and influence within the oligarchal soceity. Overall, M and their identical twin (who we shall refer to as H) lived a privileged and happy, albeit isolated, childhood.
M and H were exceptionally close; kept away from the lower status children, they were often each other's only source of company. When their parents would be throwing a gala late into the night for their business partners, the pair would sit on the library balcony, looking out over the water, read poetry and share stories.
At the age of 16, a horrific accident claimed H's life. The shaking of shoulders and their father's sullen voice breaking the news was the last thing M remebered before the wave of falling emptiness swallowed them in grief. Time was blurred and life was dim for M over the following months. It was however, in these dark times, that M began to see the spirits of the dead...
Initially chilled and frightened at this sudden revelation, M found new company in the ghosts of those long past who, too, were lonely and searching for a resolution. A few weeks passed of this and M decided to confide in their parents about this newfound ability.
Concerned that M's parents would be repulsed at hearing this, their fears were quelled when their parents were instead...thrilled at the news. They immediately pulled their influential strings to acquire an apprenticeship for M at the prestigious arcane academy in Waterdeep, The Blackstaff Tower.
The day M turned 18, their parents packed M's things in the family carriage and sent them to study magic at the Tower. "Make us proud" they said, waving the carriage away. For the next 4 years, the stone walls of the Blackstaff Tower was their home.
The solitude and quiet diligence of arcane study at the Tower was something M found to be helpful in recovering from their grief. After their first year, they became drawn to and ultimately specialized in abjuration magic (protection spells, magical wards, defenses against other magic, etc).
The 4 years of their studies at the Blackstaff Tower were coming to an end, and M had grown particular close with the head mage (no name yet DX ), we'll refer to them as the Blackstaff. One night before graduation, M and the Blackstaff were sharing a celebratory drink and got to talking. The Blackstaff looked anxious and distant, the look of deep thought and worry on their face. M asked what was wrong and the Blackstaffs gaze broke back to reality: "I--I need to confide in you about something, M" A little surpised at seeing the usually composed Blackstaff this way, M quietly nodded and responded "Go ahead, in confidence"
The Blackstaff quietly began to tell M that they were almost not admitted into the academy for study. When M asked why, because there wasn't much barring anyone from attending, the Blackstaff paused. "What I am about to tell you, I say with the desire to help you, child...'
'Prior to your parent's rather adamantly submitting your name for admission, the circle of mages at the Tower strongly suspected your parent's of using dark, evil magic to rise to power within Waterdeep"
M sat stone still and put down their drink...heart beating in their ears.
The Blackstaff kept going, "One of our own connections within the business world of the city informed us of a dark ritual that was rumored to take place at their residence one night. We managed to scry our way to get a view of this...and our suspicions were confirmed." The Blackstaff paused and took a large sip of their drink before putting it down and reluctantly continued:
"They had used evil magic to maniuplate your mind, M, and then made you murder your twin, H; your parent's goal being that the sacrifice of one of their children would trigger a series of events that would cause the end of the world, you being the catalyst for that change. They then altered your memory with that same magic to make you forget, waiting and hoping their plan had worked. That is why they were excited to hear about your ability to see the dead...that is why they adamantly sent you here to study magic, M. M?"
Frozen. Empty and falling into cold unforgiving darkness. Memories swirling to the surface...M sat motionless for a moment, gripping the arm rests, before breaking the silence. "You didn't answer my question Blackstaff...why did you accept me to the academy? Why, if you knew this?" The Blackstaff could see M's fingernails digging into the wood of the armrest and the watery reflection of tears in their eyes, then answered "We didn't want to accept you, especially after learning that...but there were some in the circle--some that believed we could help you and change that dark destiny towards good...and thats what we ended up doing. Look at all the good you've been doing here M! Whatever your parents had plan--"
The Blackstaff was interrupted when M hastily got to their feet and stormed out of the room. The Blackstaff followed and pleaded for M to stop but M had put up a ward on themselves that kept any sound reaching them. Racing waves of thoughts of betrayal, hatred, and despair consuming M's thoughts. M packed their things and left the Tower that night, disgusted and disillusioned in their parents, and themselves.
Before leaving town, M snuck back to and broke into their home along the coast of Waterdeep. They had not been here since the day 4 years ago their parents had shipped them off to become...to become some evil puppet for their sick plan. Not surprisingly, their parents were throwing another of their extravagant business galas. M wondered how many of those nights sitting on the balcony had their parents been committing dark acts of magic downstairs...
They crept into the massive study their father kept his best books and most expensive/important things. The only things M took from that life were a large diamond earring of their father's, a leather envelope of cash, and the book of poetry M and H would read together.
It was off into the night...and shit, M had never really been able to explore the city but needed to make it to the next boat out of here. Suddenly though, M felt a nearby spirit pull them towards a direction that ended at the docks of the port.
Using the cash stolen from their father's study, M booked passge on the next boat out of Waterdeep, heading south. During the 3 weeks of travel, M was frequently sick and sought reprieve on the open deck at night, looking out at the moonlit water.
However, one night M swore that out of the corner of their eye, their reflection in the water moved independently from themselves. When M turned to see this, the reflection's eyes in the water captured M's gaze and held it for what seemed like forever. Time stopped and it felt like something was staring at M through the water's depth...only to be broken by the sound of the bell being rung to indicate the changing of the ship's post.
Similar instances in mirrors, pints of ale/water or other reflective surfaces continued for the duration of the voyage. Over time, M became progressively more and more paranoid that whatever this reflection was, their parents learned of them fleeing The Blackstaff Tower and were somehow tracking M's whereabouts.
The ship finally made it to port and M begins a life of running. For the next 8 years, M struggles to learn how to survive and keep low, always looking over their shoulder worried their parents will find them. They become increasingly haunted by their own dreams where their reflection is looking at, and sometimes speaking to them.
They develop a companionship with a magical familiar in the form of a white-necked Raven, lovingly called Bishop. Bishop is there to comfort M when the paranoia gets too strong, or when hunger, resentment, and guilt sink in.
Even though those 8 years in solitude weren't easy, they were not suffered in vain. M increased their prowess in abjuration and other arcane studies. Resolute in proving their parent's plan for them wrong and using their talents and abilities to do good, M becomes what you could call a freelance exorcist.
Two years into the freelance exorcism business, and business is slow, just barely making ends meet. Quietly drinking their stress away at the tavern, they strike up a conversation with a rather peculiar dwarven bard named, Kunesh. They drunkenly get talking and sharing about their current sturggles to make it in life, on one hand a rather odd and strange looking freelance exorcism and on the other a beardless lute-playing dwarf. A deal is made that they'll split the profits they make if Kunesh can advertize the business.
Later, on a job with 2 quarreling nobles where M was needed to investigate a murder and question the ghosts of the deceased, the two learn of a phenomenon called The Death Curse spreading across Faerun. The details of this curse are particulary troubling for their business as 1) those who die cannot be resurrected through any means and 2) the spirits of the dead are swalled and trapped in another plane of existence.
With word of fame and fortune for those who can undo the curse, M and Kunesh make their way to the continent of Chult, searching for the ancient city of Omu that is most likely the epicenter of the curse. It is here that they run into the main party of the campaign who are also searching for a way to fix the curse.

Why Educational Toys Are Important to a Child’s Development
Research shows that learning through play is an important part of a child’s development. Though ensuring your child has enough play time is a great benefit to families to allow their children to release some extra energy, a child begins to find out who they are through play, even during infancy. Even early in development, a child’s mind is expanding just by looking at their environment and taking in their surroundings.
The use of educational toys can help children learn many different skills they will need in their life. Educational toys can help develop problem solving skills, teach about conflict resolution and how cause and effect work. It also teaches children about sharing, helps develop their fine and gross motor skills and nurtures their creativity and imagination.
Children can start benefiting from educational toys as early as one month old. Here are some great ideas for educational toys based on age range and an explanation of their benefits.
1-12 months old: At an early age, sensory play helps stimulate your child’s senses. As your child continues to grow and develops hand-eye coordination, families can begin introducing toys that encourage more interaction. As your child becomes more active, we suggest introducing problem solving toys. These toys will help children work through conflicts and become familiar with cause and effect such as “If I do this than that will happen”. They will also build up their confidence once they’ve been able to figure out how a toy works after trial and error and guidance. Other great toys to introduce would be ones that promote movement.
Some examples of great toys for your baby’s first year include:
Mobiles
Soothers
Infant play
Small portable toys with lights and sounds
Stackers or blocks
Crawl around learning centers
Light up dance mats with sound
12-24 months old: As your child reaches the one-year mark or older, they will soon become very mobile. Introducing the right toys to them will help to teach balance and coordination and will increase your child’s curiosity with their new-found mobility. As your child begins to learn to walk, you can also incorporate learning numbers by counting their steps which will help them become more familiar with the terms and meaning even if they do not quite understand at this age.
Themed playsets are great educational toys to introduce between the ages of 12-18 months because they will help develop your child’s recognition skills. For example, if you have a theme playset that involves animals, practice what sound each animal makes. This will also help with language development by reinforcing the names of colors and shapes.
Examples of toys that will help your child reach new milestones between 1 and 2 years old include:
Push cars
Stride and ride toys
Walkers
Themed toys
Themed books
2+ years: As your children become a bit older and more active, you can also introduce toys that promote more physical play. When showing them how to use certain toys, such as a tricycle, always make sure they are aware of safety concerns such as wearing a helmet and incorporate in the process of using the toy, so they know that if they ride their tricycle, they must have their helmet on as well.
This is also a great age to introduce toys that incorporate cognitive skill building. There are many different toys that can help children practice writing – whether they are drawing or writing their names – and their small motor skills. Games and books can also help your child develop name recognition and emergent literacy skills. These types of toys will show your child a visual version of what they are hearing and vice versa. For example, the repetition of reading a book about a dog and seeing a picture of a dog will allow your child to begin to associate a picture of a dog with the sound a dog makes. Reading books that have color pictures and a few words on each page with your child will begin to familiarize them with how words they hear look on the pages.
Examples of toys that will help promote physical play and cognitive skill building include:
Tricycles
Basketball hoops
T-ball stands
Bowling sets
Kinetic sand
Drawing easel
“See and Say” games or books
Magnetic building blocks
Counting toys

Drivers Musical Fidelity
Drivers Musical Fidelity Definition
Drivers Musical Fidelity Login
Musical Fidelity likes to make use of SMT (surface mount technology), using mini components on the circuit boards, because the technique the mechanised board population process is extremely reliable. Because SMT saves space, Musical Fidelity is able to offer more inputs and increase the continuous power output of the amplifier. The Musical Fidelity MF-200 is a closed-back portable dynamic driver headphone with an audiophile tuning and a comfortable design. It is priced at £229. Disclaimer: The Musical Fidelity MF-200 sent to us is a sample in exchange for our honest opinion. We thank the team at Musical Fidelity for giving us this opportunity.
In this era of flyweight amplifiers, Musical Fidelity’s M6si ($2999 USD) is a middleweight. We often assume that quality is directly proportional to mass, but in this case that might actually be true.
The M6si weighs 36.5 pounds and measures 17.2”W x 4.9”H x 15.6”D. The build quality is high -- nothing feels insubstantial. Drivers mobile connector. Even the top and rear panels feel as if made of heavier-gauge metals than the norm. The sample I received was black with silver accents; it’s also available in all silver. The M6si comes double-boxed and wrapped in a nice fabric bag, with white gloves for handling and setup, to prevent the transfer of skin oils to the nicely finished exterior.
The M6si has enough subtle details to make for a very nice appearance. Like its controls, the M6si’s faceplate is slightly convex, bulging slightly at the center, where it’s a bit over 0.5” thick. At its center is a large, silver volume dial about 2.3” in diameter, and notched to indicate the volume setting. Along a line tangential to the bottom of the dial are eight small silver pushbuttons, four on each side. From left to right, these are: Power, CD, USB, Phono, Tuner, Aux 1/HT, Aux 2, and Balanced. To the right of the Balanced button is the IR receiver for the remote control. At top left are the model name and company logo. Heatsinks running from front to rear act as the side panels, the topmost rail nicely scalloped. On the top panel are three rows of ventilations slots, and the M6si sits on silver feet.
The rear panel is where all the fun is. The top half contains two pairs of easy-to-use, plastic-over-metal speaker binding posts. Between these are a heavy-duty ground post and trigger inputs and outputs. In the bottom half are a USB input for the digital-to-analog converter, a pair of balanced inputs (XLR), a phono input switchable between settings for moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, four pairs of line-level inputs (RCA), pairs of line outs and pre outs (all RCA), and the IEC power inlet. The left-channel binding posts are directly over one of the balanced input jacks, and the right-channel posts are directly over the pre-out RCA jacks. I know that there are often limitations of space in audio electronics, but manufacturers, please: Stop putting speaker binding posts directly over input jacks. I used the M6si’s balanced inputs for some testing, and had trouble routing the input interconnects and speaker cables without stressing the connections. Speaker cables with spades or bare wires hang down directly in front of the other jacks, or must be run into the tops of the posts -- your only choices seem to be to put stress on something or make the installation look ugly.
I generally set up for direct digital connection via USB from my Mac computers, or balanced connection from my reference D/A converter, a Benchmark DAC2 HGC. Once everything was connected, all of my interaction with the M6si was via the supplied remote control -- a large device of typical design with a multitude of buttons for controlling everything Musical Fidelity currently makes. As usual, this type of plastic remote didn’t live up to the M6si’s level of build quality.
Linux developer community usb devices driver download for windows xp. At musicalfidelity.com, Musical Fidelity indicates that the M6si’s USB port will accept signals of resolutions up through 24-bit/96kHz. This was a subtle problem for me, as I usually make most of my connections via the optical ports offered by many DACs. Make sure you’re able to connect your DAC to the M6si via USB, as that’s your only option. Musical Fidelity claims for the M6si a power output of 220Wpc into 8 ohms, with a total harmonic distortion plus noise of less than 0.007%, 20Hz-20kHz. The claimed frequency response is 10Hz-20kHz, +0/-0.1dB.
Sound Auerswald gmbh & co. kg others driver download for windows.
I ran the M6si in the background for some time, to get accustomed to its sound before doing critical listening. Its sound reminded me of that of its big brother, the M6 500i, reviewed on SoundStage! Hi-Fi in August 2012 by my brother, Hans. When I felt that the M6si was fully broken in, I estimated that it would excel at small-scale choral and orchestral pieces because, as I’d gone about my life with the system providing background music, I’d often been drawn in by solo instruments or small instrumental groups. Life would then be put on hold so that I could listen more actively.
A Little Princess (1995) is a melancholic film about an upper-class child who sees the depths of humanity when changed circumstances force her to live in a boarding house, disconnected from her family. The film’s original score, by Patrick Doyle (16-bit/44.1kHz AIFF, Varèse Sarabande), supports the film fabulously. One character, an Indian neighbor who brings a magical quality to the story, is represented by the opening track, “Ramayana: A Morning Raga,” which introduces many of the score’s styles and subtleties. It’s not a big piece, and each instrument stands very much on its own. Tabla and sitar are introduced immediately, followed by closely miked flute, supported by small chimes. The sound of the flute was rendered very well by the Musical Fidelity, and included the sound of rushing air associated with not quite hitting a note full center, a technique that is often part of Indian-styled music. Most of this track felt as if planned to hit the sweet spot of each instrument as it was introduced. As a result, the sound was sweet and comfortable, with no harsh upper-end glare or boomy bottom.
Doyle’s music for A Little Princess varies widely, from quiet solo and lightly supported main melodies to several sections for full orchestra. In “The Miss Minchin School for Girls,” a harp flows lightly through the air above masses of supporting strings that never overwhelm the soloist. I enjoyed this soundtrack immensely through the M6si -- it never got in the way of the individual instruments. The choral sections are all sung by a children’s choir, which never sounded shrill, as can happen with some gear. The grouped strings and voices in “Crewe and the Soldier” were never hard or sharp, and didn’t produce the winces I usually give equipment or recordings that are very bright at the top end. Throughout the soundtrack, the sizes of instrumental images vary with the miking distance, but the soundstages thrown by the M6si largely remained between my speakers.
Figuring that middle-size groups -- and, even more, solo flute -- would sound good through the M6si, I played some selections from The Best of Jean-Pierre Rampal (16/44.1 AIFF, Erato). First was something of small scale: the Siciliano of J.S. Bach’s Flute Sonata in E-flat, BWV1031, a quiet piece with a sedate pace. The flute can be glaring, but was nicely projected and well balanced by the harpsichord and plucked strings. There was a softness to the sound through the M6si that suggested a luxurious space with heavy carpets, curtains, couches, and little room reverberation. The sound was not analytical, but felt as if there was just enough sharpness to avoid sounding fat. As with the Patrick Doyle pieces before it, the Bach sonata rendered well the sound of the soloist, without ever allowing it to be overwhelmed by the supporting instruments. Again, the soundstage remained mainly between the speakers, and the reproduction of the music felt neutral to slightly laid-back.
I moved on to the Presto of Handel’s Flute Concerto in F, Op.4 No.5, HWV 293, to hear how the M6si would handle a bigger supporting cast. The soloist could still be heard independently, above the orchestra, but with a very nice integration of their sounds. I was able to pick and choose instruments out of the complex work with little effort. The sharpness that a lot of supporting strings can have sounded slightly rolled off, but I think that was to the benefit of the system’s performance here. I have found that a highly analytical reproduction of the highs can sound a bit grating, depending on the recording. The M6si struck a fine balance between resolution and smoothness.
I then listened to Robert Shaw directing the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in the Polovtsian Dances, from Borodin’s Prince Igor (16/44.1 AIFF, Telarc). The oboe and piccolo solos about a third of the way through struck me as sounding pleasant without being particularly strident. When the orchestra and chorus crescendo to the top of this track’s dynamic range, I loved that I did not find cringe in anticipation of over-the-top transients of drums, voices, and cymbals. The chorus felt as if it were located well behind the orchestra, but its sound was never overwhelmed by the instrumentalists. The soundstage was wider though no deeper than before. The cymbal crash that ends this recording, neither under- nor overwhelming, proved to me how balanced the M6si’s sound was: critical but not raw, musical without being fat or bloated.
Hearing a polished chorus and orchestra left me wanting to shift into more aggressive mode. I pulled out “Du Hast,” from Rammstein’s Live Aus Berlin (16/44.1 AIFF, Slash/Mercury). For a live performance, it has a surprisingly good balance of sound and appears to be well mixed. The M6si triumphed over this challenge as well. Deep bass from the stage was surprisingly clear, for a rock show. The band’s wild sound was not limited in any way. Each guitar, bass, drum, and keyboard had its space on the soundstage, but was still appropriately connected with the rest of the players.
The M6si could play loud. Really loud. In my space, it never fell short when powering Rammstein, even at concert volume levels. It was easily able to push the big bass drivers of my Bowers & Wilkins 801 Series 2 speakers to long excursions, yet was still clearly in control of everything. Other integrated amplifiers haven’t been as successful at projecting this band with force while retaining sonic order.
That Rammstein performance drove me to another that must be played at a thunderous level: “Perpetual,” from VNV Nation’s Reformation 01 (16/44.1 AIFF, Anachron Sounds). In some ways, VNVN’s precise music, created almost wholly electronically, is fairly easy to reproduce -- the sounds don’t have anywhere near the nuances or complexities of those produced by analog instruments. On the other hand, that purity of electronic signal can be difficult to play at high volumes if the system is sloppy or underpowered. The M6si wasn’t sloppy with anything. At all times, it retained full control over Ronan Harris’s raspy voice, and the deep bass was nicely balanced with the midrange. High-pitched synthesizer notes can sound shrill through more analytical systems. They were not too sharp here.
Comparison
I was fortunate to still have on hand, to compare with the Musical Fidelity M6si, the Simaudio Moon Neo 340i integrated amplifier-DAC. The Neo 340i is more analytical than the M6si, and can be a bit overbearing with trebly music. In the $5450 configuration I reviewed, it is also significantly more expensive than the $2999 M6si. With most of the recordings I played, the Simaudio sounded more precise than the M6si, presenting what sounded like more exact representations of aural images, especially with music weighted toward the top end. As a result, it had the more open sound. Voices in the Rammstein and Borodin tracks sounded more realistic. Subtle sounds of struck cymbals had more of the expected hiss through the Simaudio. Overall, the M6si sounded more uniformly pleasant; the Moon 340i was more uniformly accurate.
I also used both the Simaudio and the Musical Fidelity with the Benchmark DAC connected to their analog inputs. In both cases, the Benchmark DAC opened up the soundstage and increased the clarity -- and notably so for the M6si. The two components, when used strictly as integrated amplifiers, were much closer to each other in sound with the Benchmark used as a DAC than they were with their own DACs in circuit. When I removed the Benchmark DAC, I found the Simaudio with its DAC closer to it in sound quality. The Musical Fidelity with its DAC produced a smaller, flatter soundstage, and lower resolution.

Best Self-Propelled Lawn Mowers HandyGuyPros
A self-propelled mower is a smart investment when you have a large yard, slopes to mow, or difficulty with mobility. To cut the grass on a 10,000sq.ft. lawn, just ¼-acre in size, means you’ll be walking between one to two miles. That may not sound too bad until you factor in the weight of your mower. If it’s a walk-behind push mower, you could be exercising with a 100-pound weight in front of you.
A self-propelled mower pushes all that weight for you. All you need to do is steer. In the middle of summer heat, cutting the grass is simply a pleasant stroll through the yard.
Top Self-Propelled Lawn Mowers
Here are the top self propelled lawn mowers for the money.
Husqvarna 961450021 HU800AWDH Honda 190cc 3-in-1 All Wheel Drive 4X4 Hi-Wheel Mower in 22-Inch
The Husqvarna Group is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with the USA headquarters of Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc., based in Charlotte, NC. Their first gas-powered lawn mower roared to life in 1947.
Their reputation for quality products and customer service is backed by the Better Business Bureau where they have an A+ rating. If you visit the Husqvarna website, you’ll see they have a lot of detail about each lawn mower, along with FAQs and user manuals and videos.
If you’re thinking about getting an all-wheel drive lawn mower, their HU800AWDH is worth your hard-earned money. It’s powerful and has a lot of user-friendly features. Just take a look:
Efficient Honda GCV190 OHV (overhead valve) 4-cycle engine with recoil start (pull cord)
This engine and all of the mower is covered by a 3-year warranty
Variable-speed all-wheel drive that goes at your pace up to 3mph
22-inch wide heavy duty steel deck
Cutting height ranges between 1 to 4.25 inches, perfect for most kinds of lawns
Large 11-inch rear wheels, 8-inch front wheels, all with good tread for traction that doesn’t tear grass
3-in-1 mulching, rear bagging, or side discharging
Bag has a dust-blocking liner
Deck washout port
1/3-gallon gas tank
Foldable handle with cushioned grip
There are a few downsides to the HU800AWDH. We mentioned that it has a pull cord, not an electric starter. But owners rarely seem to complain that they have to pull the cord twice. There is no blade brake so you have to halt the engine to empty the bag. And the top speed is 3mph, which is simply normal walking speed for a lot of adults.
Reviewers frequently report that the HU800AWDH is easy to use and feels like a high-quality piece of equipment. Many of them would happily repeat their purchase. But just for fun, let’s compare it to another top-selling Husqvarna, the 7021P reviewed below.
Husqvarna 7021P 21-Inch 160cc Honda GCV160 Gas Powered 3-N-1 Push Lawn Mower with High Rear Wheels (CARB Compliant)
Let’s continue with another Husqvarna lawn mower, the 7021P that’s CARB-compliant so it can be sold and used in the state of California. Like the previous mower, this one also has a Honda engine, the GCV160. But there is a major difference between this mower and the one above. The 7021P is a push mower. Yes, we know this is a review of the top self-propelled mowers, but we wanted you to see the differences.
This 4-cylinder has 6.9 foot-pounds of torque, a significant amount for its size. But it’s limited to 160cc instead of 190cc because it doesn’t need to push the mower. That’s your job.
The 7021P is also a top seller because it’s reliable. Consumer Reports found that only 16% of Husqvarna’s push mowers broke down before their fourth year of ownership. That’s fewer mowers than other well-known brands like Toro and Cub Cadet.
Besides the Honda engine, this Husqvarna 7021P has easy-to-use features in common with the Husqvarna HU800AWDH. It’s also a 3-in-1 mower, with the ability to mulch, bag, and discharge to the side. It has larger wheels in the rear for better traction. That’s really helpful since this is a push mower, not a self-propelled model. These larger ball-bearing wheels make it easier to maneuver when you push it over bumpy ground or have tall grass to cut.
It has a foldable and adjustable handlebar with a foam grip. But unfortunately, this is a mower that requires you to set all four wheels individually when you select a different cutting height. But it offers 6 cutting heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 inches.
As powerful as it is, the 7021P is made for yards smaller than ¼-acre in size and it weighs nearly as much as the HU800AWDH but doesn’t have the self-propelling feature to help you mow.
Troy-Bilt TB270ES 159cc 21-Inch FWD Self-Propelled Mower with Electric Start
We mentioned electric start and here is a fine example. The Troy-Bilt TB270ES has push-button electric start with auto-choke—no cord-yanking required. The 159cc OHV engine doesn’t have the same power as the Husqvarna HU800AWDH, but no one is complaining about that at all. If anything, people seem to like that it has a full quart-size gas tank and a large 1.9-bushel collector bag. Those two features alone mean there’s less stopping in the middle of the mow to refill gas or empty the bag.
The 21-inch wide steel deck has two levers, not one, to adjust the cutting height. But the range is pretty good for most kinds of grass and lawns, from 1.25 up to 3.75 inches. Since it’s a 3-in-1 mower, you can choose to bag, discharge out the side, or mulch.
Troy-Bilt’s TriAction cutting system does a great job of lifting grass upright with its rake bumper and slicing it off so that there’s no clumping. The fine mulch it makes is excellent to leave on your grass if you don’t want to bag.
The variable-speed front wheel drive has 4 speed settings total. Just select what you want with the lever and go. While the tires are all the same size, 8-inches tall, they seem to power through grass well enough. The only change we’d make is adding a cushioned grip to the handle. The black metal gets a bit warm in the sunshine.
Should there be a problem, Troy-Bilt covers the TB270ES with a 2-year limited warranty.
Honda HRR216K9VKA 3-in-1 Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Mower with Auto Choke
The Honda HRR216K9VKA 3-in-1 self-propelled mower has been a very popular model since it was released a few years ago. One of the top features that got everyone’s attention was the Clip Director. Instead of having to swap out accessories like a mulch plug and bag depending on whether you wanted to mulch, side discharge, or bag, you simply push the lever to the function you want to use. That way you don’t misplace accessories or waste time. Flip the lever and get to work, it’s that easy.
Of course, being a Honda mower means having a Honda engine. The HRR216K9VKA has the 4-cylinder GCV160 that’s CARB and EPA-compliant for fuel efficiency and emissions. The bright side is that it has auto-choke, but the down side is that you’re pulling the cord, not pushing a button. But most owners don’t seem to mind since it tends to start on the first try. Consumer Reports recommended the Honda HRR216K9VKA as a best buy among all the gas-powered self-propelled lawn mowers they reviewed in 2016.
Adjusting the cutting height requires setting one lever at each wheel, which is a pain if you’re doing it often. But there are 6 cutting heights between 1-1/8 to 4 inches, a good range to cut most kinds of lawn grass.
The twin-blade system makes for a fine, crisp cut, especially when the mower is mulching. The large 2.4-bushel collector bag means you can pack a lot of mulch or clippings into it before it needs to be emptied. It gets quite heavy when it’s full.
The Smart Drive control lever lets you select the perfect speed up to 4mph. That’s great when you’re in a hurry to get the mowing done. The handlebar is cushioned and adjusts to two heights, or folds up for storage. Should you have a problem with the mower, Honda covers it with a 3-year limited warranty.
EGO 21″ 56-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Self Propelled Lawn Mower
According to Consumer Reports, the EGO Power+ was one of the best cordless electric mowers for the money in 2016. It’s a 3-in-1, so it mulches, bags, or discharges out the side. The motor has 600 watts of power running off 56-volt batteries so you get a sharp, clean cut in tough grass, and you can mulch leaves, too. And you can do all that early in the morning because it’s quiet and won’t scare the neighbors out of bed.
Another bonus is the single lever, spring-assisted, 6-position cutting height adjustment mounted right on top of the deck. It looks like a gear-shift. We hope companies like Honda will learn from this example.
This particular model isn’t sold with a battery and charger, but you can use any of the EGO Power+ Arc Lithium batteries. For example, the 4.0Ah battery recharges in just 30 minutes. You could mow half the yard, have lunch while it’s charging, and then finish the job. Each battery and charger is covered by a 3-year warranty, while the mower itself is protected under a 5-year warranty.
You may be lifting your eyebrows and questioning why we included a cordless electric—or battery-powered mower here. It’s self-propelled! It’s manufactured by EGO, which is a company based in Geneva, Illinois. It belongs to global power tool manufacturer Chervon. Their website says they have been developing innovative electric power tools for two decades.
Snapper P2185020E / 7800982 HI VAC 190cc 3-N-1 Rear Wheel Drive Variable Speed Self Propelled Lawn Mower with 21-Inch Deck and ReadyStart System and 7 Position Height-of-Cut – Electric Start Option
Our last model in the review is the Snapper 7800982 with some very nice features indeed. It has Snapper’s Hi-Vac vacuum action with a 2.5-bushel collector bag plus rear wheel drive. If you like to bag your clippings, this is the best bagger in our reviews.
What is this Hi-Vac? It’s Snapper’s term for their high lift blade and rolled deck edge. It makes for a clean cut without leaving clumps and patches, plus it has a lot of air flow for the mower to suck the clippings into the bag.
It can also mulch and discharge out the side because it’s a true 3-in-1 mower. The 190cc Briggs & Stratton 850 Pro Series engine has 8.5lbs of torque. That means even leaf mulching is a cinch, and so is mowing on uneven terrain. Like the Husqvarna at the beginning of our reviews, the Snapper has larger ball-bearing wheels in the rear than in the front. That helps a lot with traction.
This mower is speedy, too. It can go up to 4mph, a brisk walking pace for most people. It has a disc drive transmission system that owners love because it speeds up or slows down to maintain an even speed on hills.
Starting the mower is super easy. It doesn’t need priming or choking. Just turn the key and the electric starter (with lead acid battery) starts the engine for you. Should there be a problem, like a dead battery, you can also start the mower with the recoil start pull cord.
When you’re ready to go, you can set the cutting height at one of 7 positions from 1.25 to 4 inches to mow any kind of residential lawn. On the down side, we mentioned mulching, but the mulching kit is actually sold separately. Out of the box, this Snapper can only bag and discharge if you don’t have the mulch kit.
On the upside, not only does the handlebar have foam grips for comfort, it has a cup holder, too. The mower is covered by a 3-year warranty in case there’s a problem.
The (Affordable) Cost of Owning a Self-Propelled Lawn Mower
If you’re debating between buying your own mower or paying a service to mow the lawn for you, consider this. Nationwide, the average cost of hiring a professional to cut ¼-acre is $40 per visit. It’s $60 for ½-acre. After ten visits, you can afford your own self-propelled mower. Of course, that price doesn’t include the long-term cost of maintaining a lawn mower, but in most cases, it’s still cheaper to mow your own lawn.
You can keep the cost of owning and operating a self-propelled mower down by purchasing a cordless electric model like the EGO Power+ reviewed below. Electric or battery-powered mowers are significantly cheaper to maintain. We’ll cover those details soon. In the meantime, let’s go over the top features found in the best self-propelled lawn mowers.
1. Safety First
Today’s self-propelled mowers have safety features to protect you, your children and pets, and your prize begonias. Each one has a dead man’s switch, or bail handle. Press this handle against the mower handle and the mower will move. But should you release it to check your phone or wave to a neighbor, the mower will halt.
We love that safety feature. We also appreciate the blade override that some mowers have. It lets the engine idle without the blade spinning so you can dump the collector bag without having the restart the mower afterward.
2. Front, Rear, and All-Wheel Drive
Just like a car, you can get front, rear, and 4-wheel drive lawn self-propelled mowers. Front wheel drive is handy when you need to make lots of turns. All you have to do is tip it back a little to lift the front wheels off the ground and turn. That makes it fast, and very little skill is needed.
Rear wheel drive is fantastic when you bag. It’s impressive how much grass clippings weigh especially when the ground is a little damp. Rear-wheel drive mowers keep powering along even when the bag gets heavy, and they are easy to drive in straight lines.
Four-wheel drive mowers are excellent when you have a lot of slopes or rugged terrain to tackle. But both 4-wheel and rear-wheel are harder to turn, so get a mower that lets you disengage the drivetrain on the fly.
3. Quick and Easy Start
Maybe you don’t mind yanking a cord to start the motor. But wouldn’t it be nice to simply push a button or turn a key? Especially if you don’t need to prime the engine. If you get a self-propelled mower with electric start and automatic priming, you’ll ask yourself how you survived all those years with primitive push mowers.
4. Simple Cutting Height Adjustment to Mow Most Kinds of Grass
There are lots of self-propelled mowers that have one-lever height adjustment. It’s very convenient if you need to change your mowing height. Some mowers still have up to four different levers, one for each wheel, that need adjusting each time.
Also, before you buy, double-check the range of cutting heights on the mower. Make sure it can handle the type of grass you’ll be mowing. Here’s a hint:
Northern grasses, like tall fescue, blue grama, buffalo, and Kentucky bluegrass thrive between 2-1/2 and 3 inches in the spring and fall, and 3 to 3-1/2 inches in the summer.
Southern grasses like St. Augustine, centipede, zoysia, and Bermuda do best around an inch in height, up to 1-1/2-inches.
If your grass has grown too long, but it’s healthy, follow the 1/3 rule. Only cut off the top third of the grass on the first mow. That way you won’t shock the grass too much and cause it to sicken. Then wait a few days and go back to your normal cutting height.
5. Three-in-1 Versatility: Bag, Mulch, Discharge
Some of the best self-propelled lawn mowers offer easy switching between bagging, mulching, and discharging. It could be as simple as flipping a lever.
Bagging keeps your lawn looking neat, but you may prefer to leave clippings on the grass as a natural source of nitrogen. Mulching is smart if you want your lawn to digest the leavings faster, or if you want to collect clippings for your compost bin. Plus, mulching leaves in the fall efficiently combines raking and mowing.
6. Speed to Get the Work Done Fast
How fast do you walk? Is it the adult average of 3mph? Are you the only one in your home who mows, or will someone else participate? Take that into consideration when you choose a self-propelled mower. The top models have at least three speed settings, or a decent range, like 1.8 to 4.8mph.
7. Width of the Deck and Blade
Of course, the wider your mower blade, the more ground you’ll cover. But if you have gates, doorways, or narrow strips of lawn to mow, you might want to measure to get the correct fit.
8. Comfort
You wouldn’t believe how important the handlebar actually is. When you’re shopping for a new lawn mower, find out if the handlebar is adjustable and if it has a cushioned grip. Take a look at the placement of all the controls. Maybe it doesn’t seem all that important now, but 30 minutes into the backyard and you’ll be grateful that your mower is comfortable to use.
You may also appreciate a folding handlebar if you plan to transport the mower in your trunk or store it in a small space.
9. Easy Cleanup
Count yourself lucky if the mower you buy has a deck washout port. All you need to do to clean off all those grass clippings and chunk of mud is plug in your garden hose and let it run for a couple minutes.
Now that we’ve covered the beat features found on top self-propelled mowers, let’s review the lawn mowers themselves.
Electric or Battery-powered Versus Gas Mowers
So, why select a battery-powered mower as one of the best? Let’s take a short side-trip to discuss why you might choose electric over gas power. If you’ve filled up your gas tank recently, you know that gas isn’t cheap. It’s hasn’t been long since it was nearly $4 per gallon. While gas mowers may use less than a gallon to mow a yard, that’s not the only cost you’ll pay over time. Gas mowers need oil, they need spark plugs, air and fuel filters, and tune-ups. That adds on about $80 a year for a mechanic to take care of it unless you do it all yourself. Then you’ll still have to pay for parts. Plus, it’s just a fact of life that gas mowers pollute the environment with noise and fumes and used oil that needs safe disposal.
There will probably always be a place for gas mowers, but that need is shrinking as technology advances. Electric mowers get better every year. They have ease of use features formerly found only on high-end gas mowers—like electric start, for example. Their purchase price has dropped to make them accessible to more customers than ever before. Electric mowers, whether corded or cordless, only need basic maintenance. Clean them, sharpen their blades, and that’s it.
Cost of Using a Battery-Powered or Electric Mower
A few years back someone at a personal finance website did the math and found that an electric mower costs about $1.04 to mow an acre while a gas mower cost $4.70 for the same area. Someone else figured out that while tuning up a gas mower costs about $18 if you do it all yourself, you’ll pay about $80 for a pro to do it.
The average cost of having a shop or mechanic sharpen your mower blades (for either gas or electric mowers) is between $9.95 and $20. The cost of replacement blades hovers around $15 to $25, depending on brand and style. But you DON’T have to pay to tune up an electric or battery-powered mower. The biggest expensive is replacing the battery, and that shouldn’t be necessary for three to five years if you take care of it.
So besides saving money on maintenance, why else would you want a cordless mower? For one, they are very quiet and don’t require as much work before you start mowing. Simply plug in the battery and go.
Speaking of problems, here are the solutions to common ones that happen with lawn mowers.
How to Troubleshoot Your Self-Propelled Lawn Mower
Here are the three most common dilemmas facing the owners of self-propelled lawn mowers.
1. The Mower Doesn’t Self-Propel Anymore, or it Moves Too Slowly
There is a metal transmission cable on many self-propelled mowers that controls the speed. It’s probably the most common complaint about older self-propelled mowers.
Transmission cable fix
Time to complete: under 10 minutes
If the transmission or drive cable comes loose or breaks, your mower will stop moving forward on its own. Inspect the whole cable from the handlebar down to the transmission. Make sure it’s connected firmly at both ends and doesn’t need to be replaced because of wear or damage. Rodents love to gnaw on wires, especially plastic-coated ones. If you have uninvited guests in your garage over the winter, you might have a few gaps in your cable. Sometimes the cable may need tightening. It can stretch with wear just like a gear cable on a bike.
Loosen the bolt that clamps the cable onto the handle. Pull the cable upward about an inch, tighten the bolt, and then squeeze the handle again. Now test the mower’s speed with the engine running.
Wheels and the drive wheel gears fix
Time to complete: under 10 minutes if you don’t have to remove the wheels
Check all 4 wheels to see if they need cleaning and lubrication. Sometimes they just need to be replaced. Your mower will move much more slowly if the drive wheels and gears are jammed up with clippings and dirt. Clean them and spray them with WD-40 or graphite. (Graphite’s better because dirt doesn’t stick to it as much as WD-40.)
2. The Mower Vibrates Too Much, Makes Noises, or Doesn’t Cut Well Anymore
If you have a bent, damaged, or unbalanced blade, it will make the mower shake more than normal. It will also damage your lawn by ripping out grass or making ragged cuts. If you don’t see the ragged cuts now, you will soon, as the grass will turn brown at the tips.
****Important: disconnect the spark plug cable before doing any of the maintenance described below****
Blade fix
Time to complete: 5 to 30 minutes, depending on if you have to replace the blade or sharpen it
Clear out grass clippings and dirt from the underside of the mower. If the blade is obviously bent or damaged, replace it. If it looks okay, but you’re still getting bad vibrations, remove it. Check the balance by using a balancer or hanging it with a nail through its center hole. If one side hangs lower, file that edge until the blade hangs level. Sharpen the blade about every two weeks for the best cut.
Motor shaft
Time to complete: 10 minutes or less to get eyes on the problem
Once you’ve removed the blade, you can see the rod, or shaft, connecting the blade to the motor. If you’ve run over large rocks or tree stumps, it may be bent. If it is damaged, take the mower to a mechanic.
3. The Mower Runs Rough, or Won’t Start
Just like in a car, a bad spark plug, drained battery, or stale fuel can stop a mower from starting. If your mower has a fuel shut-off valve and it’s closed, that could prevent your mower from starting, too. Make sure any safety features (like blade control) that keep the mower from operating are all disengaged. Then try starting the mower again. If that fails, try the steps below.
Spark plug
Time to complete: less than 5 minutes
Disconnect the spark plug cable, pull out the spark plug, and wipe it clean. If the porcelain is cracked or the electrode burned off, you’ll need a new one. Lawn mower spark plugs need to be replaced about once a year. After you put it back, or put in a new one, connect the cable.
Fuel
Time to complete: 30 minutes or less
If you’ve left gas in the tank all winter without using a stabilizer, the gas may have gone bad. Does it smell wrong? Remove all the fuel with a siphon (because tipping the mower to drain the gas tank is hard and likely to spill oil into the filter) change the fuel filter, and then put fresh gasoline in the tank.
Battery
Time to complete: depends on if you have a battery tester or have to take the battery to a shop
If your mower has an electric starter that runs off a battery, see if the battery has drained. You’ll probably need a tester for this task, or have to take it to a shop or mechanic to test it. Recharge it, or replace it if it won’t hold a charge.
How to Tip a Lawn Mower to Inspect the Blade
If you want to access your blade, be aware of these two concerns if you need to tip the mower and you have fuel and oil inside.
Four-cylinder engines that have separate tanks for oil and gas need because their fuel and oil may leak into the carburetor or air filter. Check with your owner’s manual to find out what it recommends. Generally speaking, never tip it with the spark plug side pointing at the ground.
Conclusion
If you want to mow your own lawn, a self-propelled mower is a good investment. The ones in this review are powerful and versatile. They come from major manufacturers with quality products and lots of happy owners. A well-maintained mower can last for years of faithful service.
If the long-term cost of maintaining a mower seems prohibitive, and if your yard isn’t larger than ¼-acre in size, take a closer look at the EGO Power+ cordless electric battery-powered self-propelled mower. It will cost less to operate each time you mow and doesn’t require the same kind of yearly tune-up that a gas-powered mower needs.

After The Hype - The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
In September 2020 I purchased an Apple iPad 8th generation. The main reason was because at the time the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 was $649. In May my old iPad Air 2 (my artwork reference tablet) started getting errors that it didn't have enough RAM. So in June I had to buy a new tablet. I was going to buy another iPad. I decided the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 was a compelling alternative since it was on sale for $500. This is a review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7.
Design
The Galaxy Tab S7 follows the design language of Samsung's other Tab S tablets starting with the Tab S4. The bezels keep getting thinner and thinner. The device also keeps getting thinner and thinner. The Tab S7 in portrait measures 6.51" Wide by 9.99" Tall, and .25" Thick. It weighs a bit over 1 pound. In portrait perspective the power / sleep and the volume controls are on the right hand side. The fingerprint sensor is in the power / sleep button. At the top and bottom of the tablet are 4 AKG tuned speakers producing clear stereo audio. In the front of the tablet is the 11" TLPS TFT display (more on that in the specs section). The webcam is also on the right hand side of the display so it can be better used for video chat in landscape. Finally on the back is a dual camera setup, and the resting / charging pad for the S-Pen.
Specs
The Galaxy Tab S7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+. This is the flagship mobile microprocessor of 2020. It has 6 GB of RAM which is plenty of memory to run any application. It is available with up to 512 GB of ultra fast UFS 3.0 storage with a Micro SD card slot. My Tab S7 has 128 GB of storage. It has WiFi 6 with Bluetooth 5 for all your non-cellular wireless communication needs. The front facing camera is 8 MP with a wide angle lense which is great for group selfies and video conferencing. The twin camera setup on the back consists of a 13 MP wide angle camera and a 5 MP ultra-wide camera. There are dual mics to capture audio. Below the camera module is the magnetic recharge pad for the S-Pen. The 11 inch display is the star of the show. It is a Quad HD+ LTPS TFT display with a resolution of 2560 X 1600 running at 120 Hz. The display has HDR10+ and Samsung's variable refresh technology. The S-Pen is the co-star of the show utilizing Wacom EMR technology. It is a low latency pen which provides for fast and accurate pen input.
User Experience
Everything about the Tab S7 is a treat to use. The OneUI 3 treatment of Android solves most of my complaints about Android on tablets. Sure some apps are blown-up phone apps. Unlike iPhone only apps that run on iPad in letterbox mode. Everything is fast and responsive. Gaming is fantastic. Genshin Impact runs well at medium quality. I have had problems with Sonic CD and Dimension Wars 3 running too fast due to the 120Hz refresh rate. Turning off Variable Refresh solves the problem. Consuming content is great. The display is beautiful, and the quad speaker setup immerses you in your media. Artwork and design production with the Tab S7 is great. The S-Pen is responsive and capable, and it is a joy to work with in Clip Studio Paint, and Autodesk Sketchbook. Working in Microsoft OneNote, and marking up edits in Acrobat is also a great experience. There are some gaps in the various app stores, but the lack of those apps isn't a deal breaker. The images from the rear cameras are fine. I wouldn't carry this tablet as a camera, but they work fine in a pinch. The front camera is great for video meetings via Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Voice pickup by the mics are more than adequate, ensuring that you will be heard loud and clear.
Galaxy Tab S7 Vs. 8th Gen iPad
At $649 the Tab S7 is considered way more expensive than the $329 Apple iPad. I, however, am not convinced. At the $649 price point the Tab S7 is competitively priced.
The base model Tab S7 has 128 GB of storage. To get an iPad with 128 GB the price would need to increase to $429. The Tab S7 has the S-Pen included. The Apple Pencil costs an extra $100. This brings the 8th Gen iPad with 128 GB of storage and an Apple Pencil to the price of $529. That is a $120 price difference. On top of that the Tab S7 is often on sale for around $500.
On paper the iPad 8th generation seems like a great device. In use it even seems perfect. The user experience is refined, leaving no doubt as to how to operate it. The app store is the best around. It even has access to Photoshop and Illustrator. Regretfully, it's also a walled garden. You can only purchase apps from the Apple App Store.
The Tab S7 can have apps from several app stores like Google Play and Amazon. You can even install apps from a web browser, the cloud, or a USB drive. You can also develop and install your own apps. Something you can't do on any iPad without a developer account and a $99 fee.
The tab S7's Qualcomm 865+ (973 Single, 3117 Multi) is faster than Apple's A12 (1109 Single, 2065 Multi) in multi-core. The Tab S7 has more memory with 6 GB RAM versus the iPad's 3 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab S7 has expandable storage through a Micro SD card slot. The iPad only has integrated storage. The Tab S7 has a larger, better display with a higher resolution, HDR10, and variable refresh up to 120 Hz. The Tab S7 also has the ability to connect USB-C devices like input devices, printers, and USB-C drives. Even pointing out the lackluster app stores on Android, the other features dwarf the iPad.
The Tab S7 is also competitive when comparing it to the faster more expensive current iPad Air. It may be faster, but with an Apple Pencil the 64 GB model is $729. With 256 GB of storage the price rises to $780. The iPad Air does have a USB-C port. It's still lacking Micro SD card expansion, and a 120Hz HDR10 display though. There are a lot of complaints about Apple's Files app to transfer files between the iPad and devices. In this case the Tab S7 wins on price because though it is slower, it still has a better feature set.
I am not going to talk about the Apple Pencil. With Apple's pencil, and Wacom's EMR it's all about the user's personal experiences. In my case my familiarity with Wacom's EMR has been great. With AES based pens like Microsoft's N-Trig, and the Apple's pencil I find them lacking.
Conclusion
It's actually kind of odd. Even though I am not an Apple Fan Boy anymore, I am an iPad fan. The reality is that the Tab S7 is better than the 8th Gen iPad, and just enough better than the Apple iPad Air in my opinion. Apple lost this round. Wow, It was a little hard to say that. It will be interesting to see what the 9th gen iPad, 5th Gen iPad Air, and Samsung's Tab S8 have in store for us. It should be an interesting 2nd half of 2021

The Bietrun WXM22 costs $99 for its 1 transmitter and 1 receiver, half the price of the big-name Rode Wireless Go. While the price is in Bietrun’s favor, does it cut too many corners as a result?
This will primarily be a microphone system picked up by content creators who are either looking to record themselves or others’ audio wirelessly, but it can also be an extremely useful way to also wirelessly transmit any other audio source with zero latency. This is especially important when you need to listen to a live audio feed without delay, say for example while watching TV or even recording live instruments.
youtube
With my experience as a content creator and videographer who has used similar systems as well as other microphone solutions, how does this hold up, and does it get the job done?
Be sure to check out the video review as well to hear the quality of the internal microphone, the included lapel, as well as several comparisons to other solutions. As I’ll share and explain throughout this review, the Bietrun does in fact offer great value, however, there are additional tools and tips I highly recommend also implementing with this setup to maximize its performance and functionality.
What's Included?
The packaging is pretty minimal but lacks the flashiness we’ve come to expect from other brands trying to copy Apple’s simple, yet sleek box design. That said, the gold product name on the box is rather nice looking and contrasts the otherwise bland box. Opening it up, you’ll find one receiver and one transmitter hidden under the manual and warranty card.
There is a second box inside labeled accessories which includes:
TRS to TRS cable
TRRS to TRS cable
Dual USB-C to USB A charging cable
Carrying pouch
The included TRRS to TRS cable is very important to highlight as this is necessary to allow for recording and connectivity to most mobile devices. And while these cables are cheap and easy to purchase separately, it's great to see one already included in the box, especially as this is marketed as a system that works with phones and tablets.
Notably missing, however, is a dead cat windbreak for the internal microphone. This perhaps isn’t as important for indoor use, but as I share in the outdoor examples in the review video, it is especially useful for windy situations.
Setting Them Up
Powering both the transmitter and receiver is quick and within a few moments they both pair to each other automatically (assuming they’re both set to the same channel frequency).
The transmitter and receiver do not actually record any audio on their own, instead, using radio frequencies, they simply send any audio source being heard from the transmitter and the receiver picks it up.
In addition to the internal microphone or the included lapel microphone, you can also choose to connect any other 3.5mm source as your input. From here, you need to connect the receiver to something that can either record or monitor audio via its audio out jack.
Most will likely just directly connect this to their camera’s input jack if they’re recording video as well. This is the most convenient way as you won’t have to sync up your audio later in post-production. I personally choose to go through an external audio recorder (in my case, the Zoom H1n) instead of my camera directly for a few reasons. In addition to giving me a backup audio source, as I always have my trusty Comica VM20 boom mic running, it also provides higher quality audio files and is easier to monitor.
Speaking of monitoring, this might be the biggest downside to the Bietrun receiver. From my tests, I found plugging in headphones directly into the transmitter to monitor your levels could be very misleading. Although the transmitter and receiver offer 15 levels of gain adjustment, five times more than the Rode Wireless Go’s meager three levels, it's hard to actually hear that difference while monitoring from the transmitter. Audio from the headphone monitoring port is very low and will lead you to think that your overall recording is low too. When I monitor instead from my external recorder or even my camera using their headphone jack, it is drastically louder.
While visually the red indicators shown on the audio levels warn users, the risk with auditory monitoring via the Bietrun receiver is that users won’t realize how loud their volume really is and in turn, they are more likely to be clipping and ruining their entire audio recordings.
If you don’t already have one, my recommendation again, especially if you want the most control and highest possible audio recordings, is to pick an external audio recorder so you can easily adjust and monitor your gain to target the safe -12db to -6db range.
Bietrun WXM22 Specifications
The Bietrun WXM22 has 50 UHF radio bands, giving users ample choices to avoid interference from other audio sources.
The range is rated for 50 meters or 164 feet. In the video review, I provide a sample range test in an open field, but as I note, it's hard to realistically simulate its performance compared to if you were in an area with an abundance of other wireless frequencies while social distancing.
While I was able to get very minimal dropouts even with my back turned to the transmitter at about 100 or so feet away, it’s hard to tell how well this would perform in the presence of other wireless frequencies.
The transmitter and receiver each have a 650mAh rechargeable battery, which is rated to last about five hours long. This is about average for this category of device, but still two hours less than what the Rode Wireless Go offers. Charging is simple with the included dual-USB-C cable that is included. It’s great to see more companies ditching micro USB and even worse, proprietary charging/connectivity ports.
USB-C is far more convenient and becoming a standard for most devices. When you consider that the transmitter and receiver are likely going to drain their battery at about the same rate, it makes sense to include a USB-C cable that can charge both at the same time.
That said, despite their smaller battery sizes, charging times are a little slow at about three hours each. Unfortunately, faster PD (power direct) chargers are not supported and won’t charge the devices at all.
On the other hand, charging from power banks is possible and adds to the convenience of this system.
Wireless microphone systems have come a long way in the past few years. When I first began my videography career, I relied heavily on a big and clunky system by Saramonic to record audio for weddings. These were about the size and weight of walkie-talkies and felt just as dated too. Today’s systems, including the WXM22, are significantly more convenient. In addition to having built-in rechargeable batteries and a screen to monitor and adjust your settings, they are significantly lighter and smaller too. At about 40 grams each, the receiver and transmitter are collectively smaller than the one old Saramonic I once used.
Likewise, you’ll notice that you don’t need to attach an antenna, nor do you need a separate volume preamp. That said, these are still about seven grams heavier than the Rode Wireless Go. You’ll be hard-pressed to notice that weight difference, but it's a testament to how much more compact and lightweight a premium price tag gets you.
Functionality
No Dead Cats…
Like I noted earlier, a dead cat was not included in the box, nor has the internal microphone really been designed to accept a 3rd party one. The dead cat works to minimize the low-frequency hiss and harsh sounds from wind passing against the microphone. Indoors and under more controlled environments that lack wind will be fine, however, if you plan on using the internal microphone specifically outdoors a lot, this may not be the best choice.
Changing channels is a simple three-step process. Just click the settings button and use the volume + or - buttons to select the new desired channel. Confirm the selection on each by once again clicking the settings button. Complete this process on both the transmitter and receiver to select the same channel. Aside from the transmitter having its internal mic and external mic port at the top, they also differ in the location of the power button as well as the side of the USB C port. The transmitter and receiver have the same volume and dual settings/mute button layout at the bottom. It would have been nice for the similarities to also include the placement of the power button too. When you’re in a rush or muscle memory kicks in, you’ll tend to look for the power button at the top of each, as that’s the most intuitive location.
The monitors display your gain, audio levels, channel, and signal strength. They seem to be bright enough for most indoor and outdoor situations. It would be nice to be able to change or completely disable the screen dimming time-out, though. Especially if you are using these outdoors and are monitoring your levels and status frequently, it can be a little annoying to have to press a button each time you want to brighten up the screen so it's more readable.
Build quality is alright but definitely not impressive. The all-plastic build isn’t necessarily bad, however, it does feel rather cheap. In my few weeks of use, they have both been picked up scratches on the front. What’s worse and rather annoying is the glossy finish, including on the front and display. The receiver and transmitter are fingerprint magnets. Funny enough, filming the B-roll and taking the photos for this review were made especially difficult because of how easily this picked up my prints.
2-in-1 Clips
Now, this is a great design choice. The same rear clips which allow you to attach the transmitter to a shirt waistband also doubles as a hot shoe mount. This eliminates the need for additional adapters when you want to mount both to your camera or other compatible hot shoe gear.
Best Uses for the Bietrun WXM22
What are the best and most practical uses for this system? Whether you’re looking to record your own tech or YouTube videos, producing a podcast, or conducting an interview, when wireless and latency-free audio recording is a priority, this system is the way to go.
Furthermore, while this system won’t necessarily yield the best audio quality, it takes the lead with convenience first. Especially if you are a one-person crew in charge of BOTH video and audio recording, the simplicity and ease of setup to get your audio reliably transmitted is great. In terms of why this isn’t the “best” quality, it comes down to two main reasons.
First off, there is a persistent low volume hiss when wireless transmitting your audio. This was present in all my tests including indoors, outdoors, switching channels, recording through the Zoom H1n as well as through my Sony a7siii. Noise reduction clean-up in Adobe Audition was able to minimize it, however not completely eliminate it. In addition to this being an extra and time-consuming step, not all users have access or experience with these software tools.
The second reason is that the internal microphone and included lapel are not going to be able to compete in terms of sound quality compared to a dedicated $100 microphone that is JUST a microphone. The internal microphone isn’t the best choice for recording individual voices as it picks up more external noises compared to a lapel or a super-cardioid boom mic which is designed to focus on just the sounds it is pointing at.
Surprisingly, I found the internal microphone to actually sound much better than the lapel. The lapel sounded too warm and a tad muffled for my liking. While the internal microphone did pick up more unwanted room noise, it sounded the most natural. That all said, those two points do not suggest that this Bietrun system is a bad choice, but rather that the convenience and cost savings it offers come with some disadvantages.
Luckily, with the exception of the slight hiss sound, you can easily improve the quality of the mics themselves by connecting and using any other one that is compatible with the transmitter’s 3.5mm jack.
Beyond Recording Audio
Going back to a point I shared near the beginning of this review, this is also a very useful tool for recording or transmitting any other audio source without latency. The best examples of this include watching TV and even playing instruments. Compared to even the best APT-X Bluetooth headsets and transmitters, they simply can’t compete with the latency-free experience offered by these radio transmissions.
Using the Bieitrun WXM22, I can now record keys, drums and guitar live and monitor it wirelessly with great quality, something I’ve never experienced before. This dramatically adds to the value and functionality of this system.
Too Many Corners?
My experience with the Bietrun WXM22 has been pretty good. With its low price, I was a little skeptical at first and thought it would cut too many corners making it more of a hassle to use than it was worth.
Its $99 price does come with some drawbacks, however, if you’re on a tighter budget many of its issues have workarounds that may make it the better value choice for you. With the savings compared to its big-name competitors you can invest in a better microphone to connect to and a dedicated external audio recorder as well. Pairing these three purchases will give you an overall more complete and even better recording and monitoring experience.

Comprehensive guide about internet services
What is an ISP?
Your internet service provider (ISP for short) is what gives you access to the internet, you pay them and they connect you to the internet. The amount of money you pay can vary widely, depending on the various factors they are providing you, some of these factors are printed right on the Ad and some factors they don't want you to know.
But what are all those factors?
I'm going to list just the main factors here, and I will not take in consideration the difference in pricing of bundles or packs when they charge you, for other goods like TV, support, anti-virus, etc... Just focusing on the technical side of things, your ISP is like a delivery contract, and delivering goods there are many variables in play like, what kind of transport do you use, a car, a bike, a truck, a train, a plane? How much you can carry at once. How fast you can deliver. How many requests you can handle. How long it takes you to start each new delivery? How many parcels get lost in transit? Maximum the amount of deliveries in a month.
Things to take into consideration when talking about your internet:
Type of connection (cable, fiber, 3G, LTE...)
Speed (5Mbps, 25Mbps, 100Mbps...)
Data limit (500MB, 5GB, 20GB, Unlimited...)
Latency (ping)
I will try to explain a little bit about how each of these things will affect you in day to day use, and clarify some things they usually don't tell you.
Speed
Speed is commonly advertise in Mbps or Megabits per second (e.g. 25Mbps). This will define how long something will take to be loaded from the internet to your computer (Downloading a song from iTunes, a attachment on a file, or even loading images on a website).
Ok, 25 is just half of the story, this number is your downstream speed, AKA download speed. But the internet is not just a one way road, it is in fact two way road, one going out your device, and one coming to your device. For a website to load, when you type example.com address on Google Chrome, you computer first sends a request, and it goes of your computer in the "up lane" and it arrives at the desired server, and then it sends you the webpage back to your computer on the "down lane".
We refer as the traffic in the direction:
You → Internet as UP stream
Internet → You as DOWN stream.
With that said, they only tell you the speed from the server to you, but they usually don't tell you what the speed from you to the server is going to be, unless you read the fine print, or ask them.
Almost all home plans have much lower upload speeds than download speeds. Expect your upload speed to be (usually) 10 times slower than your contracted download speed. This means that you can download a 50mb PDF in only 7 seconds on a 60Mbps internet, but it will take more than a minute to attach the same PDF on a email.
Upload speed is specially important for content creators, that will send content more often than they will consume content from the internet, like upload videos to youtube, attaching large files, backuping files to the cloud (Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud), live streaming HD video, etc...
A little aside about bits and bytes
There are lots of confusing things when talking about speed, and all of this is caused by different but similar looking units. In the example 25Mbps (lower case b) means 25 billion (mega) bits in a second will arrive at your computer. But this doesn't mean you will download a 25MB PDF in one second, because here 25MB (uppercase B) is 25 mega bytes.
File sizes you are used to see on your computer or phone is expressed as kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), terabytes (TB)...
Speed is usually advertives as mega bits per second (Mbps)
But if everything is reported in bytes, it would make sense to talk in bytes per seconds and not bits per seconds, right? yeah it does! But it make sense for then to talk in bits (for a reason I'm not going into), but it also makes the numbers appear bigger, so its good for marketing.
The conversion is: 8 bits = 1 byte
Data limit
Some ISP impose a limit of the amount of bytes you can receive and send over a period of time (e.g. 100GB of data in a month), this means when you reach that limit your service will be paused until the next cycle, you will be charged for extra or you connection will be slowed down. This will depend on your specific contract, so you should ask if you have any limits, what happen when the limits are reached and you should check if the limits are reasonable for what you expect.
Here are some tasks and the approximated amount of data it will take:
Watch a YouTube video of 10 minutes 200MB
Watch Netflix movie 2GB
Download Apps:
Angry birds 2 500MB
Clash of clans 110MB
Minecraft Pocket 140MB
Candy crush saga 200 MB
Type of connection
There are many types of connections, and each of them have their own pros and cons, this will also play a role in the cost.
ADSL
Coaxial Cable
Fiber
Cellular (3G/4G/LTE)
Satellite
ADSL is one of the oldest technologies listed, it uses the phone lines infrastructure so it is available even on the smallest towns. Reliability is not that good with this technology.
Coaxial cable is one of the most common in the United States, it uses the same cables as cable TV. The cost of this connection is usually one of the cheapest, This is one of the best price to quality options.
Fiber is the best you can get in terms of speed and stable connection. But often it comes with a cost that’s usually higher than the other options. fiber is also not readily available everywhere. This is definitely the best option for really demanding tasks like streaming, gaming in any real time application.
Cellular and this is the type of connection you have on your phone. This type of connection you should come comes with limits of usage. So you should avoid this type of connection if you use the Internet for anything else then casually browsing. But this is an option if you need mobility or if you can’t use any of the other options.
Satellite is the type of connection you would have if you live in a really remote area or you don’t have any infrastructure near you. This is the most expensive option, and contrary to what some may think this is the slowest type of all listed types of connection. Satellite connection suffers from really high delays (explained below), due to the distance the signal have to travel between the satellite and the earth. Another con is that you’re going to be off-line when the sky is cloudy.
Latency (ping)
Latency is the time it takes from a command to be send from your computer through every device on the network, reach its destination and come back to you.
For everything you do online from asking for your browser to load a website, or sending a tweet or clicking play on a video on YouTube, you computer have to send a request through the network. It goes to
PING is a tool that measures the Round Trip Time (RTT) of data to reach the destination and then return. It is measured as Latency in ms. Latency is a component of Lag, which is the perceived performance degradation. Packet loss is the other common contributor to Lag.
There are two major components to Latency. Data travels over the wire/fiber at roughly 120 miles per millisecond (ms). Thus for every 60 miles between you and the destination, you can expect 1 additional ms in a PING test. Keep in mind this is the distance the data has to travel, not direct distance or way of the crow.
Devices along the way also contribute to the overall Latency. Cable modems have been reported to add 5-40ms and DLS modems around 10-70ms. WiFi routers will contribute as well. Each additional device such as another WiFi repeater, firewall, router or switch (hops) between you and the destination will add to the overall latency as well. Expect older networking gear to add additional latency. So could a miscalibrated or misconfigured cable modem. Reference: https://www.pingman.com/kb/42
All wireless connections will likely incur some degree of Packet Loss due to the nature of the medium and additional Latency due to protocol overhead.
Many of these factors that contribute to Latency are outside of your ability to change. It is true that Fiber connections typically have fewer hops between you and the Internet. It also true that these hops can different than the path of hops from a DSL or cable modem. The different path could have lower Latency per hop. HOWEVER, fiber connectivity is not always guaranteed to lower latency and has an additional added cost of service.
Satellite: 750 - 2000 ms
3G Wireless: 100 - 350 ms
4G Wireless: 50-150 ms
DSL: 50-125 ms
Cable: 25-75 ms
Fiber: 5-30 ms
WiFi
As said earlier, a wireless connection between your computer and your mode/router will also add a extra delay contributing to the total latency. This amount will vary depending on various factors, like the number of devices connected, amount of nearby WiFi networks in range, distance between you and your router, interference from other appliances like microwaves, etc... If low latency is important for you, you should avoid wireless entirely and use a wired connection between your computer and router. But if you can't there are a few things you can do to improve things.
Don't use WiFi repeaters / boosters (unless they have a CAT5 cable coming in);
Prefer 5.8GHz band WiFi routers (802.11ac);
Don't place WiFi router near metal surfaces (refrigerator, computer case...)
Don't connect to a WiFi router on a different floor
Be near a WiFi router
If you use a WiFi USB dongle on a Desktop PC, don't use it on a rear USB port, plug it on the front of your case.
Place your WiFi router around 5 feet (1.6m) above the ground.
How different factors affect internet usage
Gaming
Having a consistent and low latency (ping) is the most important factor when it comes to gaming and not having issues with lag. Generally speaking, prefer fiber or cable over other types of connections, and prefer wired connection between your computer and your modem or router, to avoid fluctuations in ping caused by the wireless connection. Higher speed should not make much difference here, just make sure you have enough head room to account for other programs and people sharing the same internet. However a higher speed plan should make downloading the updates and games itself faster.
Live streaming
Upload speed is the most important factor here, you should have enough bandwidth (upload speed) to be able to send large amounts of data required to stream audio and HD video to (Youtube, Twitch, Ustream...). Latency (ping) will help you have a smaller delay between you and your viewers, but this is not very significant because those services usually will have a buffer of a couple seconds anyway. But it is really important your connection is steady and it is not losing packages, as you video is live, every video frame that fails to be sent will either get lost and cause the video to be choppy or it will be retransmitted making the video to be delayed.
Check out twitch guidelines for streamers https://stream.twitch.tv/encoding/
Watching videos
If you watch lots of videos online on Netflix, YouTube or even on social medias, Download speed will affect which quality will be able to watch without waiting for the video to load of buffer. Make sure to have a unlimited data plan or have plenty of data available, as videos takes large amounts of data specially HD or 4K content, or you will found yourself with no or a crippled internet or with a large bill on the end of the month.
Netflix have a chart that should give you an idea of the amound of data it will consume: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/87
Listening to music
Listening to online radios or using streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music... it is not a really demanding on your internet, but if you stream for many hours a day you should be aware of Data limits, specially on mobile. If you have a 1GB limit it will be roughtly about 7 hours of content of high quality music.
Ok thats it, I hope this will help you better understand how each factor is important to you and help you choose which service you're contracting. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

STEALTH 600 PLAYSTATION®4 REVIEW
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Full immersion into games with epic surround sound
Let me just start off by saying that these are the sexiest gaming headphones I have ever seen. The Turtle beach 600 for PS4 and PS4 Pro, what a beaut! The black matte finishes with the black glossy finishes between the ear covers, gives it that slick but mean look that you’d expect from a car, you could almost say these are the Lamborghini of headphones; sexy and sound like heaven (In love emoji from a mobile OS you are most familiar). Armed with a swing arm mic that turns on when deployed and switches off when put back into “park”. There are 2 buttons, a charging port, and 2 volume wheels but I will get to that in a bit!
The sound on these over-ear headphones are…well… oxytocin inducing. The SURROUND SOUND on the headphones is simply remarkable! I took this on 3 journeys: COD BO3, Fifa and Fortnite. Needless to say I had no problem on COD, with the voice and bass boost mode on, I could hear my party as well as the footsteps on nearby enemies. While playing FIFA though, I stepped into Anfield for the YNWA anthem and these headphones stepped up, crazy immersion into the stadium and the game. Fortnite, the sound was great, clear and loud (I like that) but after some research I found that the game wasn’t putting out the audio that you’d want to hear through these head phones (surround sound 5.1) , so I would say these beauties went 3 for 3.
Now, back to those buttons. This is something that really bothered me. These buttons felt really cheap in my opinion, absolutely no smoothness behind the button, feels like I dropped it and actually broke the button. They are hard press buttons, which is fine but I could never actually tell if I should press harder or just throw them away because I’ve broken them already, like I do everything else. The 2 wheels, now this is something I struggled with, not only is it very 2002 but I kept damn bumping it and the volume wheel would decrease and I would think they were dying on me! The second wheel is for mic feedback, in order to create that “noise cancellation” vibe…well it didn’t work… If you compare this to the likes of Samsung’s Noise Cancellation, then it basically is just feedback from your mic and cancels nothing out at all (Can you tell how disappointed I was?).
Before I end off, let me just say that this things battery is a beast, so far I’m going on a week without charge! These headphones are definitely on a new level compared to my old Turtle Beach P60 headphones, they look great and sound even better. The retail of these headphones will launch at rAge Gaming eXpo this coming weekend and I highly recommend grabbing yourself a pair from BTGames, where you will find these exclusively! Do it, just do it!
