Succession Riding Coat Tails for Desire Fulfillment (Susan James)
Succession Riding Coat Tails for Desire Fulfillment (Susan James) Page Six (of course I read Page Six!) Posted an article about Alan Ruck of ‘Succession’ mentioning how he had ridden on the coat tails of his actor wife Mirelle Enos which contributed to his second act of a career. ‘Riding on Coat Tails’ is a great phrase. Many of us ride, have ridden on the coattails of others. It may have been…

Character Actor
Gerald Mohr (June 11, 1914 – November 9, 1968)  Radio, film, and television character actor and frequent leading man, who appeared in more than 500 radio plays, 73 films, and over 100 television shows.
From the 1950s on, he appeared as a guest star in more than 100 television series, including the Westerns The Californians, Maverick, Johnny Ringo, The Alaskans, Lawman, Cheyenne (as Pat Keogh in episode "Rendezvous at Red Rock"/as Elmer Bostrum in episode "Incident at Dawson Flats"), Bronco, Overland Trail (as James Addison Reavis, "the Baron of Arizona", in the episode "The Baron Comes Back"), Sugarfoot, Bonanza (as Phil Reed in the episode "The Abduction", as Collins in the episode "Found Child", as Cato Troxell in the episode "A Girl Named George"), The Rifleman, Wanted: Dead or Alive (episode "Till Death do us Part"), Death Valley Days (as Andrés Pico in "The Firebrand"), and Rawhide. In 1949, he was co-announcer, along with Fred Foy, and narrator of 16 of the shows of the first season of The Lone Ranger, speaking the well-known introduction as well as story details. The narration was dropped after sixteen episodes.
Mohr guest-starred seven times in the 1957–62 television series Maverick, twice playing Western gambler Doc Holliday in "The Quick and the Dead" and briefly in the conclusion of "Seed of Deception", a role he reprised again in "Doc Holliday in Durango", a 1958 episode of Tombstone Territory. In one of the other Maverick episodes, he portrayed Steve Corbett, a character based on Bogart's in Casablanca. That episode, "Escape to Tampico," used the set from the original film, this time as a Mexican saloon where Bret Maverick (James Garner) arrives to hunt down Mohr's character for an earlier murder.
Mohr also guest-starred on Crossroads, The DuPont Show with June Allyson, Harrigan and Son, The Barbara Stanwyck Show, It's Always Jan, Perry Mason, 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, Lost in Space, Ripcord and many other television series of the era, especially those being produced by Warner Bros. Studios and Dick Powell's Four Star Productions. He sang in the 1956 Cheyenne episode "Rendezvous at Red Rock". He also essayed Captain Vadim, an Iron Curtain submarine commander, in the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea episode "The Lost Bomb". In the series' fourth and final season (1968-69), Mohr guest-starred in the episode "Flight From San Miguel" on The Big Valley. This episode was broadcast posthumously in April 1969.
Mohr made guest appearances on such network television comedy shows as The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (1951), How to Marry a Millionaire (1958), The Jack Benny Program (1961 & 1962), The Smothers Brothers Show (1965) and The Lucy Show (1968). He had the recurring role of newsman Brad Jackson in My Friend Irma  (1952). He played "Ricky's friend", psychiatrist "Dr. Henry Molin" (real life name of the assistant film editor on the show), in the February 2, 1953 episode of I Love Lucy, "The Inferiority Complex". His repeated line was, "Treatment, Ricky. Treatment".
In 1954–1955, he starred as Christopher Storm in 41 episodes of the third season of Foreign Intrigue, produced in Stockholm for American distribution. During several episodes of Foreign Intrigue, but most noticeably in "The Confidence Game" and "The Playful Prince", he can be heard playing on the piano his own musical composition, "The Frontier Theme", so called because Christopher Storm was the owner of the Hotel Frontier in Vienna. Foreign Intrigue was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1954 under the category "Best Mystery, Action or Adventure Program" and again in 1955 under the category "Best Mystery or Intrigue Series".
Mohr made four guest appearances on Perry Mason (1961–66). In his first appearance, he played Joe Medici in "The Case of the Unwelcome Bride". In 1963, he played murder victim Austin Lloyd in "The Case of the Elusive Element". In 1964, he played the murderer, Alan Durfee, in "The Case of a Place Called Midnight". In 1966, he played agent Andy Rubin in the series' final episode, "The Case of the Final Fadeout".
He continued to market his powerful voice, playing Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) in the Fantastic Four cartoon series during 1967 and Green Lantern in the 1968 animated series Aquaman.  (Wikipedia)

Mark Cuban Turned 91% Of His Employees Into Millionaires When He Sold A Company For $5.7 Billion –Dallas Texas reporting
"In every business I've sold I've paid out bonuses to every employee that was there more than a year," Cuban posted Tuesday on social media platform X. The bigger the acquisition, the larger the payout: 300 of Broadcast.com's 330 employees became millionaires when the audio streaming service sold to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in stock in 1999, Cuban wrote.
Cuban started the practice after selling his first company, a software firm called MicroSolutions, for $6 million to CompuServe in 1990. He took 20% of the total sale price, he tells CNBC Make It, and paid it out to 80 employees — which would equate to $15,000 per staffer, if distributed equally.
Cuban did something similar upon selling his majority stakes in HDNet, now known as AXS TV, in 2019 and the NBA's Dallas Mavericks last year, he wrote in his post. "And only HDNet had any layoffs right after the sale," he added.
Cuban's co-founding and sale of MicroSolutions marked his first big entrepreneurial success and a triumph over setback: He nearly went broke after his secretary stole roughly $82,000 from the company.

Made-by-India cinema gets first Oscars
Indian cinema first knocked at the door of the Academy Awards in 1958 with director Mehboob Khan’s seminal work, Mother India.
Tumblr media
Indian cinema first knocked at the door of the Academy Awards in 1958 with director Mehboob Khan’s seminal work, Mother India. Since then, this quest has been an obsession almost, with films like Salaam Bombay and Lagaan going agonisingly close. Of course, our artists like Bhanu Athaiya (Gandhi), A R Rahman, Gulzar, and Resul Pookutty (Slumdog Millionaire), have all won the Oscars, but those were all films made in India, but not by India. And now, finally, a documentary called The Elephant Whisperers and the song Naatu Naatu from RRR have made the world turn in our direction.
Naatu Naatu started as a Telugu song, became an Indian phenomenon and then a worldwide rage, gaining momentum in the lead-up to the Oscars, where it has won the ‘Best Original Song’ award, defeating the likes of Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. Accepting the award, composer MM Keeravaani said, “There was only one vision in my mind, Rajamouli’s mind, and my family’s mind too. RRR has to be the pride of every Indian and must put me on top of the world.” It was also a lovely touch to see Deepika Padukone introducing the Naatu Naatu performance at the Oscars and to see singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava perform it.
While the win of Naatu Naatu was a first for Indian cinema, producer Guneet Monga has cemented India’s place as an important force in the Documentary category by winning her second Academy Award for The Elephant Whisperers. She previously won the same award for Period. End of Sentence (2019). Guneeth shared the award with Kartiki Gonzalves, the director of The Elephant Whisperers, and said, “I stand here to speak about the sacred bond between us and the natural world. For respect of the indigenous community and empathy towards other living beings and finally for co-existence.” What a beautiful coincidence that the triumph should come on National Elephants’ Day!
Asia, the big winner, at 95th Academy Awards
In a day of success for the Indian contingent, a downer was the loss of Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes in the Best Documentary Feature. The Russian documentary, Navalny, took home the award, for a film that has much political importance.
Oscars 2023 can be thought of as a year of representation, with Everything Everywhere All At Once winning a whopping seven awards out of its 11 nominations. It won many major awards at the ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huay Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Director (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert), Best Editor (Paul Rogers), and Best Original Screenplay (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert). The emotions ran high as every award recipient spoke warmly about the importance of family, heritage and representation.
Michelle delivered the line of the night, when she said, “Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up.” After a rather controversial 2022 ceremony, this year was wholesome and without any real blemishes. It was a night when every speech and every award led to heightened emotions and freeflowing tears. If Ke Huay Quan’s ‘Mom, I’ve won an Oscar’ left people in tears, Brendan Fraser’s emotional response to his Best Actor win for The Whale fetched much applause too. The Darren Aronofsky directorial also won the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award for being able to turn the genial, handsome Brendan Fraser into a morbidly obese recluse.
Apart from the overwhelming love for Everything Everywhere All At Once, it was a day when the German film, All Quiet on the Western Front, made history too by taking home the awards for Best International Feature, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design. Top Gun: Maverick, credited with being the film that brought back Hollywood audiences to the theatres, won a solitary award in the Best Sound category.
Another highlight of the 95th Academy Awards was Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio winning the Best Animated Film, and his passionate plea for cinema to take animation seriously. Sarah Polley won the Best Adapted Screenplay for Women Talking, and Ruth E Carter won a record-making second Oscar for her work in the Black Panther films. She won Best Costume for Wakanda Forever and became the first Black woman to win multiple Oscars in any category.
There were certain snubs too, as always. Angela Basset missed out on a Best Supporting Actress win, and so did Cate Blanchett and John Williams losing in the Best Actor and Best Original Score categories, respectively. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was that much-anticipated nominations like The Banshees of Insherin, Tar, The Fabelmans, and Elvis did not win even a single award at the Academy Awards. Where India will go from here on the global stage is anybody’s guess, but what today’s Indian nominees and winners have done is show dreams do come true sometimes.

'Naatu Naatu' from SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' creates Oscars history, wins Best Original Song
This is the third major international recognition for the chartbuster 'Naatu Naatu', composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by Chandrabose, after a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award.
Tumblr media
LOS ANGELES: Filmmaker SS Rajamouli's period action blockbuster "RRR" charted history by becoming the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category for "Naatu Naatu".
In the category, the Telugu song was nominated alongside 'Applause' from 'Tell It Like a Woman', 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' and 'This Is a Life' from 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.
This is the third major international recognition for the chartbuster 'Naatu Naatu', composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by Chandrabose, after a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award.
"RRR" (Rise Roar Revolt), a pre-independence fictional story, follows two real-life Indian revolutionaries 'Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) in the 1920s.
"Naatu Naatu" celebrates the inclusive spirit of dance and bonhomie and features Charan and Jr NTR matching steps to its catchy rhythm.
The title of the track translates to bucolic in Telugu. It demonstrates the spirit of fun in country music in its over 4.35 minutes of runtime.
Jai Ho from the 2008 British film Slumdog Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle, was the first Hindi song to win an Academy Award in the Best Original Score and Original Song categories.
It was composed by AR Rahman and penned by Gulzar. "Naatu Naatu" was shot in the lawns of the Presidential Palace of Kyiv in Ukraine.
Rajamouli recently revealed in an interview that choreographer Prem Rakshith came up with over "100 variations" of the hook step for the song.
"Naatu Naatu" singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairava also performed the song at the Oscars ceremony.
The 95th Academy Awards are underway at the Dolby Theatre here.
