Stupid. Stupid. He knows better than to get caught, let alone in his own damn waters. He's been living in The Marrows with his sister for nearly 30 years and hasn't aged a day. Well. For the most part. They certainly aren't completely human anymore, not since Grian thoughtless played Pearl that beautiful music box. Every time they tried to listen to it, all they could hear was screaming, instead of a melody that spoke to their very souls. Clearly, it spoke too well, since all he can do now is sing to his prey and watch them crash and burn against the rocks. They never seem to see them coming until they've already crashed and started to burn, and this damn vessel should've been like all the others, like all those stupid stupid people coming here expecting something. Grian thinks those damn artifacts should be locked up in a safe and never seen again, when all they do is this to people who come in contact with them. They corrupt them until absolutely nothing human is left. Lizzie knows the most, but she doesn't speak much these days. She's been here the second longest as well, cursed as they are, they're the only other people who know what it's like. She helped them learn how to hunt, how to use their pain to survive through it all. He hates how much his mind wanders in times of distress; his dissociation has never been a helpful thing despite what Pearl says about it being a "normal" response. Normal means nothing to him and his little sister anymore. Not after what’s happened to them and left them unable to call anything but the sea their home.  

Grian’s brought out of his mindless circling from a too close loud gasp and a horribly bright flashlight being shined directly at his face. He hisses at the threat, fins flaring in response to try and appear bigger and more threatening than he actually happens to be, his lips peeling back and revealing row after row of all his pointed sharp teeth. Instead of threatening his hunter into cutting him loose from the net, he’s dragged net and all onto the deck. He flails uselessly, talons not quite catching on the net to cut it more than a minimal amount of the connections. His work is cut out for him when he hears a soft shushing and watches a disemboweling knife be dragged through the net to shred it to useless halves.  

"Are you hurt?" He's far from home, Grian thinks as he’s spoken to with a thick british accent. He sounds too posh to be from anywhere nearby and looking at his "savior" leads him to the final assessment of coming from money. He reeks of it.  

"Thank. You." He cuts out in the best English he can manage, he and Pearl don't speak much of the language after this long alone. They've always spoken in their own little language anyways. He starts to claw his way towards the edge of the ship, looking back at his savior and smiling - semi-normally - at his pure dismay of what he's done to the wood in those brief drags. With that, he throws himself overboard and heads home as quickly as possible. Pearl will freak out that he's spoken to an engineer of all things.

🩵 Edward- Pearled mermaid. Crown prince of Oceana and Percy's mentor🩵

💙 Gordon- King Atlantis. The king of all mermaids. Must have Percy married by 23💙

❤️James- Sea star. A very popular mermaid in the sea. An underwater celebrity who lives in the palace❤️

💚Henry- Sir Puffs a lot. A pufferfish mermaid and royal guard of the kingdom. Inflates when he's stressed💚

💚 Emily- Pirate princess. A pirate mermaid loved by the pirates and is Percy's moral booster.💚

🤎Toby- Coral Reef. The palace's hardworking butler. Always tends to Percy and Edward's aid🤎

💚Duck- Moon jellyfish. Is Percy's personal butler. Is married to a shark and stings people if you get on his bad side💚

🖤❤️ Donald- Crimson Seahorse. One of the king's servants. Makes sure everything is on schedule❤️🖤

🖤🧡 Douglas- Tangerine Seahorse. One of the king's servants. Monitors everyone's actions 🧡🖤

💚Oliver- Sea Crystal. A gem mermaid. Trying to get Percy to face reality that Thomas is never coming back💚

🧡Nia- Angelfish. A long forgotten friend of Thomas who helps out Percy🧡

💛 Rebecca- Queen Ariel. The queen of all mermaids. Encouraging Percy to marry.

Trying so hard to write a TF2 Scout fic because I have excellent ideas like medieval royalty au or a warrior cats au or pirate mermaid au or Emesis blue fic but instead of writing any of these I find myself writing a fic where Scout gets addicted to cigarettes and everyone keeps threatening to tell Spy and Scout doesn’t know why because Spy ain’t his fucking mom. But also please don’t tell Spy he doesn’t want to hear the lecture.

❤️🧡Crimson Seahorse Donald and Tangarine Seahorse Douglas🧡❤️

Donald and Douglas are twin seahorses and are Gordon’s servants. Donald makes sure that everything is run on time and on schedule. If something isn’t on schedule, he’ll freak out and have a panic attack. Douglas is the more chill and monitors every move the mermaids make, especially Percy. The twins can disagree with each other at times, but work hard to keep the kingdom running for the king and queen.

What do you think of Donald and Douglas? More characters are to come!

Ikkaku sighed happily as she leaned against the Tang’s lower deck’s railing, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. As much as she enjoyed bein under the sea, she appreciated these chances to decompress and relax on the surface.

There was a splash from the waters below, and Ikkaku instantly looked down to ensure nothing important, nor her Devil Fruit user captain, had fallen overboard.

To her surprise, Ikkaku found a pretty, orange-haired mermaid smiling up at her, showing off her vibrant tail.

A grin came to the brunette’s lips as she called down, “You trying to show off? You’d better not get too cocky - I’ve got some mermaid blood, too, and I’m more than willing to race ya!”
