PLI scheme approved

Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry has accorded approval for the promotion of domestic manufacturing of critical key starting materials, drug intermediates, and active pharmaceutical ingredients under the Production Linked Incentive scheme.

Earlier the Union Cabinet had approved it for Pharmaceuticals over a period of Financial Year 2020-21 to 2028-29.

The Scheme will benefit domestic manufacturers.

I was feeling stressed about my assignments for next week so I stopped by Half Price Books to take a breather. Their journal section has a wide selection of hardcovers. I’ve already seen most of these from the previous season so I wasn’t too impressed. From the corner of my eye, this one journal was staring into my soul. There’s something about this panda’s gaze that made me purchase it. It’s almost eerie yet cute and silly. The die-cut shape looks fun but it would make it difficult for me to decorate the inside with washi tape. I might as well try something new this time.

As I rushed to purchase the panda journal, the leaf bookmark caught my attention. I’m reading some books this week so this would be useful, I thought. $8 for a pack of four 1” bookmarks was quite expensive in my opinion. I thought long and hard before adding this to my purchase. What would my friends think of me? Does this make me more “cooler” than before? What if I don’t need it? It’s not like I read books anyway. But it doesn’t hurt to treat myself.

I came home to find a small package at my doorstep. It’s the post-it notes I ordered from Korea! These were pricey but I bought the because of the official brand that makes it seem like a quality exclusive item made and manufactured from a country I’ve never been to. Something made in Korea or Japan adds to my bias belief that their product’s meets high quality expectations. I would expect something made in China to be downgraded and cheaply made without effort. When it comes to luxury brands such as stationary, I order from Japan or Korea. When it comes to temporary tools, goods from China is more convenient and affordable.

Having the world’s fastest growing economy at a reported $10.98 trillion in the past year, China continues to grow at a steady pace, only second to the United States. Since the 1970s, the country has quite literally transformed its model of production from that of a closed economy to an open market focused on manufacturing and export. A major trading partner to Asian and foreign markets, China’s 7% annual rate of GDP has more recently begun to slow down, decelerating to 6.9%.

China’s currency, the Renminbi (RMB) or Yuan was instituted as a reserve currency in 2015. The inclusion of the RMB in International Monetary Fund special drawing rights (SDR) basket is an important milestone for the country. Reformation of China’s monetary and financial systems, gold and silver Yuan pricing and the switch to the metric conversion of the 1-ounce panda to a 30-gram strike price in 2016, marks a major transition in the world’s markets, as China pushes toward liberalization.

Since 2015, the value of the nation’s currency has dropped, yet China’s foreign investment environment has also been sustained by preferential policy reforms and a commitment to market diversification by the government, creating conditions for a more competitive and profitable investment prospectus.
