In the Christmas spirit I bestow upon you a Jimmy self ship hc: you give him a present for Christmas and he’s absolutely floored. Not because like he didn’t want to get you a gift; but bc he’s just so used to this time of year being shitty he didn’t even think about the usual traditions.

like, thank goodness you hinted at it before Christmas Day. Like saying you’re so excited to give him his gift or something. And like, Jimmy rushes out on Christmas Eve to get something, *anything* for you. And he’s cursing himself out the entire time because this is stupid and why is he even doing this but. It’s important. It’s the sentiment of the thing, yknow?

he for real wasnt expecting anything but to sit alone in his cold ass apartment feeling like shit for christmas like he usually does. and he doesnt have lots of extra money just lying around. scrambling trying to find something last minute. i think he ends up with something pretty safe and utilitarian, like a mug or something. but it’s like, a nice mug. and he at least knows enough to pick one thats aesthetically pleasing to me.

he’d be pretty happy to see it become my go to first choice mug

Since spiders don’t handle the cold very well peter tends to have a problem during winters in new york bc it gets freezing there. after he comes back from the fight with thanos though it’s uncomfortable for him because it takes him back to clinging to the alien ship in the cold and trying to get his lungs to take breaths that werent there. It doesnt happen every time hes out in the cold but on the really bad days it tends to effect him more.

Spider’s Can’t Handle The Cold Headcanon

Even a year after Peter’s experience on Titan,he never escapes the nightmares from the day he disappeared.

Every little thing triggers a reminder of thatday.

He tries to move on, but it’s such a struggle-especially in the winter months.

After he got his powers, he realized how hefelt constantly cold. He’d usually be able to manage with extra blankets or asweater.

He never liked to tell people, he hates whenpeople worry about him.

He was so grateful the day he found out Tonyhad put a heater in his suit!

It’s around October when the weather starts tobecome difficult for Peter to tolerate, but not every day is bad. It’s the snowydays in the middle of January that seems to cause the most difficulty for him.

When he’s out on patrol in the middle of thenight even with the heater blasting, he still shivers against the cold air.

Sometimes, he even finds it hard to breathe,reminding him of some extremely painful memories.

When he can’t seem to catch his breathe, andthe cold is making his lungs burn- the memories come back to haunt him. 

He remembers the attack on New York and theweird-looking space ship that appeared just metres off the ground.

Tony had told him to “save the wizard”, andthat’s exactly what he did. He never wanted to let his mentor down, he lookedup to the man with so much respect.

He hadn’t expected the ship to take off,beaming him up with the strange contraption. He was scared, but refused to letthat show. 

It was only when the ship had gotten higherand higher that his heart had started hammering in his chest. He vaguelyremembers himself exclaiming how “he couldn’t breathe”, but it all faded todarkness as he passed out, until he woke up in that fancy new suit.

And now every winter he’s reminded of thefright he felt. 

When he struggles to breathe in the cold air,he’s taken back to the thought of himself clinging to the ship, trying to takein air that simply wasn’t there.

The only thing that comforts him is thedistant radiation of the heat provided from his suit, but his lungs still burnas he struggles to hold back the oncoming panic attacks from his experiences.

He knows he has people to talk to, who wouldhelp him through his struggles, but it’s not just him who is trying to move on.

Until he is comfortable reaching out tosomebody he trusts, he’ll continue telling Karen to turn the heater in his suitup to full blast.

He looks forward to going back home afterpatrols.

May bought him a space heater for his tinybedroom, and always has tea or hot chocolate waiting for him when he comes homeafter long nights in the cold. 

Spiders can’t handle the cold, and Peter canbarely function.

He keeps it to himself, because he doesn’tlike to impose his problems onto his companions.

When he’s ready, he’ll reach out for help, butfor now he’ll stick to oversized hoodies, an abundance of blankets on his bedand May’s warm cups of comforting cocoa.
