People simply cannot fathom the fact that referring to someone who doesn’t use they/them with they/them is still fucking misgendering. I am a MAN I use he/him exclusively. You don’t get to they/them me and misgender me just because I said something you dislike. Yes they/them pronouns are good for when you’re not sure but that doesn’t mean everyone has to be okay being misgendered when they pronouns are literally one click away.
