WHEN I NEEDED YOU masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vi woke up to the sound of a car pulling up. she got up and peeked out the window. “cupcake, how soon did you want me to meet your parents?”
“mmm, what?” you mumbled, yawning and opening one eye. Vi was standing by the window, looking intently outside.
“I mean, I don’t mind, but maybe we should at least go on a date first,” she said, glancing away from the window. her eyes roamed over your breasts with a playful hunger, as you lay there still uncovered from the night before. you enjoyed how Vi looked at you, savoring the attention and not reaching for the blanket to cover yourself.
“what are you talking about?” you asked, still trying to catch up with the context of her words.
she finally tore her gaze from you and said, “your parents. they’re here. right now.”
“what?! what time is it?” you grabbed your phone, shocked to see it was past noon. “no, no, no, I’m… I’m still naked, Vi!” you frantically began gathering your pajamas from the floor. Vi just laughed at you. “it’s not funny; they can’t know you stayed here last night and that we… oh my god.”
“that we… what?” she stepped closer, running her finger over your nipple. you bit your lip but moved her hand away. she just waved it off and said, “don't worry, I’ll go downstairs and pretend I slept there.”
you heard the front door open, and your mom called out to you. “no, it’s too late, you need to hide in the closet,” you whispered, hurriedly pulling on your clothes.
“in the closet? are you serious?” Vi chuckled at your words. we’re not sixteen.”
“yes, yes, but...” you heard footsteps on the stairs. “go, now!” you whispered to Vi, rushing out and closing the door behind you.
you almost ran into your mom, who gasped in surprise. “everything alright?”
“yes, mom!” you cleared your throat and said more calmly, “yeah, mom, I just overslept a bit since we stayed up late last night. I’ll freshen up and come down to help clean.” you forced a smile, hoping your heart wasn’t racing too visibly.
“well, alright.” your mom gave you a questioning look and went downstairs. when you entered the room, Vi came out to meet you.
“I'll clean up downstairs quickly and be right back with you, don’t go anywhere!” you whispered to Vi, who smiled and did as you said.
once downstairs, you found out that the other girls had already left. after tidying up the pillows and bedding, you joined your parents and shared some details about the evening, carefully omitting certain parts, then excused yourself to clean up your room.
back in your room, you let Vi out of the closet. when your eyes met, you both struggled to hold back laughter. she was holding something, and as she lifted her hand, you saw it was your red panties. “maybe you could wear these for me next time?” Vi winked at you.
“only if you take them off me.” you pulled her by her shirt, pressing your lips to hers. your tongue explored her mouth as her hands gripped your hips, and you wrapped a leg around hers. you had never wanted anyone this much, craving the feel of her lips on your body, her fingers inside you, and wanting to give her the same pleasure.
in the heat of the kiss, you forgot about your parents and pinned Vi against the wall by your door. she nearly growled at how hungrily you kissed her, eager to strip you down and taste you again, to make you moan as loudly as possible. lost in each other, one of you accidentally knocked a lamp off the table. you both started laughing, but then you heard a voice right outside the door.
“are you okay in there? what was that noise?" your mom was right outside. without hesitation, you clamped a hand over Vi’s mouth and peeked out the door. “yeah, mom, I just dropped my book.” your mom looked at you quizzically, and you felt Vi start to lick your fingers, sending a shiver through you. you panicked, trying to pull your hand away, but she kept licking, and you felt yourself getting flustered. “okay, I’ll clean up; sorry for the noise,” you said quickly, closing the door and giving Vi a nervous glare.
she took your hand and slipped two of your fingers into her mouth, sucking on them. the look on your face changed instantly at the sight. you turned the lock on the door and pushed her toward the bed.
climbing on top of Vi, you kissed her lips passionately. breaking away from her mouth, you moved to her neck, and when you ran your tongue from her collarbone to her ear, she tilted her head back and let out a soft moan. your hands slid under her shirt, caressing her stomach, and the feel of her muscles excited you immensely. your hand slowly descended to the waistband of her boxers, and you looked to see Vi’s reaction. her face had a seductive smile that made your head spin; your lips met hers again as your hand slipped under her clothes. you felt her wetness under your fingers, and as you traced over her clit, she threw her head back. seizing the moment, your fingers slid inside her, and you watched her grip the blanket tightly. moving your fingers, you felt her warmth inside, the soft walls of her pussy squeezing around you. as you sped up, Vi bit her hand - no one needed to hear you two right now. you could see her hips start moving in rhythm with your fingers, her body responding to every motion, and you almost regretted not hearing her moans. when Vi threw her head back again and bit her lip, you knew she was close. with your other hand, you started stimulating her clit, feeling her tighten around your fingers, until she came. carefully, you removed your hand from her boxers and looked up.
“what was that just now?” she whispered softly to you.
“I couldn’t let you go just like that, especially after last night.” you winked and helped her sit up.
“well, that was definitely the right call,” Vi laughed. “but I really have to go.” she began to change, and you watched her every movement. her entire body was perfect for you - how had you never noticed how beautiful she was?
“there’s a game tonight. want to come?” Vi whispered to you. for a moment, you realized that after the argument with Troy, you had completely forgotten about football, and everything connected to it. you hadn’t even thought about the schedule anymore. “I’d like you to be there,” she added.
“then I’ll definitely come,” you said, standing up from the bed and giving her a kiss on the cheek. you handed her bag to her and gestured to the window. “unfortunately, it looks like you’ll have to go out this way.” Vi just laughed again and nodded. as she was about to climb out, she handed you your red panties, which she had found earlier in your closet, but you said, “keep them. I have your jacket, so you can have these.” you looked into each other’s eyes one last time, and Vi gently brushed her hand over your necklace before slipping out the window, smiling.
after finally tidying up as you’d promised your mom, you took a shower. while getting ready, you could only think about Vi - how could you not? she had filled your thoughts completely. once you were dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, you checked the weather on your phone and decided to bring a jacket just in case. your eyes immediately fell on Vi’s red jacket, and you bit your lip, remembering last night. you slipped it over your shoulders, still smelling her scent on it, and gently ran your fingers over the fabric before heading downstairs.
“mom, I'm going to the game,” you said, peeking into the living room where your parents were watching a movie.
“I thought you would not go there anymore after what happened with Troy.” your parents paused the movie and looked at you carefully.
“yeah, I just feel like going today,” you replied a bit uncertainly. you weren't good at lying to your parents, so you quickly looked away.
“uh-huh, alright.” you were about to turn to leave when your mom added, “nice jacket.”
“um, thanks,” you replied, blushing.
“oh, and next time, please tell Vi that we have a front door,” your body went cold, and your eyes widened in embarrassment. “have fun.”
you decided it was better not to reply, so cursing under your breath, you left as quickly as possible.

tw: kinda physical fighting
Tumblr media
you wake up to your brothers stupid make believe band conjuring up all the random notes to their stupid instruments to make any sound they possibly can. your blood boiling from getting woken up you barged into your garage, slamming the door open you walked right up behind your older brother, pushing his back roughly.
“what the fuck y/nn! what!” he turned around, shouting at you, his face now covered with annoyance and anger. “can you turn that shit down?! i will tell mom! you woke me up!” you yelled back, basically seeing the steam come out of your ears.
“did we wake the beast from hibernation?” the short haired brunette spoke up, her hands dropping from her bass guitar that was painted a blood red. “fuck off abby you can’t even sing” giving her a dirty look before walking back inside your house “if you guys keep being loud i will break y’all’s faces” you slammed the door shut before going back to your room.
being woken up too early you decided you might as well go hangout with your friends, quickly doing your usual morning routine you threw on some leggings and a oversized hoodie and your bootleg ugg’s you got from like jcpenny’s, they were still cute though. grabbing your car keys you quickly went downstairs to tell your mom you were going out.
meeting up with them at ellie’s house, you guys passed the joint around, giggling mess, dazed eyes looking at each other. “dude, wait oh my god” you spoke up all of a sudden with a mind like einstein, “aren’t all accents just mocking each other?” you sat up causing jesse, dina and ellie to start contemplating as well. “oh my god guys, guess what fucking abby had the audacity to say to me this morning!” you were still very upset. “what muscle mommy say now” dina hollered, literally crying at her nickname for anderson.
“listen shh, she said ‘did we wake the beast from hibernation’ like who the hell is she to talk to me like that in my own house, you rolled your eyes, jesse busted out laughing. “i’m sorry, y/nn, abby can be funny sometimes” “nuh uh! she’s a bitch and i hope she gets ran over by a semi.”
ever since your brother started that little stupid four people band in high school, abby the only one who stuck out like a sore thumb for being the biggest asshole. you guys were always at each other’s throats about something as stupid as eating the last fruit cup. she always managed to hop her ass on every single nerve in my body and she enjoyed it so much, she loved ruthlessly annoying you.
it had been a couple of hours and you needing to come back home because your mom was going on her twenty-four night shift at the hospital. opening your front door you saw abby and your brother, naveed, playing on his playstation. those two being too into a really stupid round in fortnite to even notice you, making your way into your room you had changed into a pair of pajama shorts and a tank top, the ac in the house never seeming to work.
slipping on some socks you walked into your kitchen to make some ramen noodles, still hungry from the leftover munchies. kneeling down to grab a pot to boil some water in, right as you got back up you bumped into someone. turning around and groaning in annoyance “personal space weirdo, all up in my bubble” abby gave you a disgusted look after the comment, grabbing some ingredients to make a sandwich “what bubble? your big ass head is a bubble" she went on to making a sandwich. "fuck you abby, i really wanna strangle you sometimes!" you groaned out of frustration.
abby putting down what she was doing, turning her head to look at you with the stern face, getting up and slowly she cornered you into a wall "do it, you're just a bitch who barks" her harsh blue eyes gazed down at you. "fuck you abigail" you pushed at her chest, trying to get out of the suffocating situation. grabbing your wrists she manhandled you to bend over the island, one hand gripping your hands behind your back and her other on the back of your neck.
"abby let me fucking go" you squealed trying to squirm out of her deadly grip, she grabbed a fist full of your hair pulling you onto her front, you could feel her breath on your face "remember how easily i can fucking break you y/n" she let out a chuckle after seeing your eyes go from anger to fear in a span of a couple seconds.
"i am twice your size kid, watch your fucking self” she eyed you up and down before leaving the kitchen.

Can you please do a dad I threw up moment with price I think that would be funny or with the gang
Dad...I frew up.
Tumblr media
"Daaaad. Daaaaad." You yelled silently, on the verge of tears. You tried being as silent as possible to not wake up the entire damn base. It was two in the morning and Price was up doing some paperwork, but he tensed his muscles, not wanting to know what you did this time.
You were just standing at his door like🧍‍♂️.
"What happened (Y/N)"
"Nothing happened. Why would something happen?"
"Because everytime you, Soap or Gaz come to me in the middle of the night something happens. Something always happens with you three." He straightened his back, looking up at you. He tapped the desk gently with his pen. "Well, what happened? You want food?"
You gagged a little. The thought of food was the last thing you needed right now. You shook your head "no" without saying a word. Price was confused now.
“I, kinda, you know...threw up.” The last part came out as a whisper. You were fiddling with your fingers and the front of your shirt was stained suspiciously.
“You threw up?” Price repeated slowly, very confused. That was it? Why did you seem so terrified of admitting that? He was ready for you to confess some serious sins, but this?
An uncomfortable silence fell after those words were muttered. “Damn…” He murmured, getting up in frustration as he walked to your side. “Did you actually? Where?”
“ Yeah. In-“ you were cut off by a shout you were sure woke up the entire base.
“What the bloody freaking hell is on my pillow!?”
“Soap's room...” You muttered, not looking up. Multiple questions filled the captains mind. Why were you in Soap's room in the middle of the night? Why did you throw up on his bed? Was it some kind of revenge? Honestly, he didn't wanna know.
“Okay, It’s alright, (Y/N). We can clean it up… let’s get you some water and meds, alrigh?”
“Is it okay?”
He nodded and patted you on the back, examining you.
“Did you eat something? I told you not to eat that chicken.” He brushed your matted hair that was stuck to your forehead.
“My belly kinda hurts.”
“Come on, kiddo, let me get you a bucket real quick. If you need to throw up again, do it there, okay? I’ll be right there.”
He rushed out of the room, bumping into a very angry looking Soap on his way to grab one of the empty buckets. Soap looked irritated, eyes tired as he glanced up at the older man.
“Soap, you alright?”
"Do I look- Someone fuckin' puked on ma bed! 'Course, i'm no alright." He shouted, accent getting thicker.
"Listen, calm down. (Y/N) is sick...I'll clean it up for you."
Soap was sweating, clenching his jaw. He shook his head, opening his mouth as if to reply before whipping around and emptying his guts against the nearest wall. Price jumped back, cursing as he avoided the splash of half digested food. Soap gagged miserably, back arching as he panted.
“Fuckin' hell, Soap-“ He winced, stepping forward to pat between the young man’s shoulder blades. He dry heaved for several seconds after he had emptied his stomach completely, groaning in pain and clutching at his abdomen. He rubbed a hand up and down his back, murmuring softly to the younger man.
“Okay, Soap. It's alright… it’s okay.”
“ Mmnm-“ His words slurred together as he straightened up, wiping his teary eyes with his sleeve. He moved to wipe at his mouth, but Price groaned, yanking his arm down just in time.
“Don’t use your sleeve. Here.“ he pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, swiping away at Soap’s mouth and chin. He crumpled it, tossing it into the trash can before wrapping a warm arm around Soap’s shoulders and ushering him away from the wall. He paused, taking up two buckets by the handles before helping the young man back to his room.
“You and (Y/N) must have caught somethin’. Let’s see what's up.” Soap walked silently along, head down tiredly.
Ghost came in carrying clean sheets, scowling. He was visibly annoyed at being woken up as he eyed Soap down in barely contained disgust. “What’s wrong with him?”
“He’s sick. I’m afraid those two have come down with somethin’.” Ghost groaned, throwing his head back.
“God dammit, you idiots.”
“I love you too.” Soap rasped sarcastically, clearing his throat and rubbing at his belly. “Think I need’ta lay down.”
“You can use Ghost's bed for now, son.” Price murmured, patting Soap gently on the back. “Your bed’s a bit… dirty at the moment.”
Ghost threw a glance up at the men, opening his mouth to object before they were cut off by the gagging of (Y/N). Price cursed, dropping the buckets and rushed towards the noise as he shook his head.
He helped you to your room, sitting you down on the stool. “Okay, listen up. Here’s a bucket in case you need to-” He’d not even finished before you were violently sick, vomiting out into the bucket.
Fuckin' hell.
Price was alarmed. What the hell was wrong with you? As he was about to say something, he heard another gagging sound coming from the other room. He quickly placed the metal bucket next to you on the floor. “I need to get Soap cleaned up, don't die here, yeah?” It came out as more of a question than a command. He bolted, leaving you to suffer on your own.
“Thanks, sir.” You murmured even though you knew he wouldn't hear. Getting up and laying back on the bed and miserably closed your eyes.
Price sped out through the door, barely stopping himself before he stepped into new puddle of vomit. Ghost was kneeled down next to Soap, face scrunched up in worry as he wiped away the mess from his lips and chin with a towel. Price smiled faintly at the sight, watching as Ghost soothingly cupped the man’s face, swiping away some tears with the rough pad of his thumb.
“I’ll get him a new pair of clothes." Ghost uttered, trying to keep the other man as steady as possible. Soap wasn't a man who was afraid of many things, yet there he was. Sobbing and shivering about the pain in his belly.
“I believe this will be a long night, my friend.” Ghost muttered, making sure Soap’s face was fully wiped clean before scooping him up in his arms and slowly walking him to his room.
"Don't you dare to get sick next." Price warned, threateningly pointing at Ghost.
"I could say the same to you."

Inspiration: Like Real People Do by Hozier and Begin Again by Taylor Swift.
Summary: Your life was spinning out of control, you knew that. After a string of particularly shattering events, you decided it was time to start anew. With a little help from one of your Grandma's rentals, you found yourself in the small town of Alexandria. The last thing you expected was your neighbor, Rick Grimes.
TWs: kinda anti-Lori, a lil bit of crying, alluding to sex (nothing graphic), and mentioned child abandonment.
[[A/N: Fun fact, I based the multiplication tables on actual posters I had as a kid. And yes, I did have physical multiplication tables on my walls, I was a nerd. This one is quite the rollercoaster. Enjoy :))]
Tumblr media
You woke up early that morning, dancing around your house trying to gather everything up. It was almost 2 weeks until school started, and you had honestly never been more panicked in your life.
Grabbing stacks of paper and a few colorful posters you saved from your job in the city, you pushed open the door and unloaded it into your car. It wasn't your first trip to the car that morning, and it was starting to get a little tedious (you would've been frustrated if you weren't so nervous).
Slipping them into the trunk, you took a big breath out of your lungs and readied yourself up for another load. There was a lot more than you'd thought there'd be to decorate a classroom-
"Mornin', darlin'," a voice called to you, and you immediately spun on your toes to meet the one and only Rick Grimes.
It had been a few days since you'd seen him. You started working over at his house, so you wouldn't be running yourself into the ground again. He kept you hydrated and fed, and if you got stressed, he'd kiss your temple or drag you away from the computer. It was a really nice change of pace. You'd been relatively less stressed because of it, except for, well, now.
Rick was leaning against the fence, sleeves rolled up past his elbows (a worn flannel that maybe he wore just for morning work, you noted), and forearms on full display. You could see dirt on his hands though, and you realized it was early enough he must have been working too. Grinning at you and blue eyes twinkling, a stray curl hanging over his face (you had the instinct to comb it back). He actually looked a little messy, imperfect even, who knew he could do that?
Making your way over to him, you chimed with a bright smile, "Hey, loverboy, funny seeing you here."
He laughed, eyes swimming all over your face as you stood in front of him, "'Could say the same for you, ya know."
You smiled, teasing, "You always watch me like that?"
He let out a low chuckle, eyes intently focused on you -you really were never going to get used to that, "Only sometimes."
Laughing, you gently combed the curl back in its place and while you were at it fixed the rest of the muss of his hair. It looked a little like a bedhead, so you spent a little longer fixing it. Rick just watched you do so, maybe a little fondly.
"'S gettin' a lil' long, ain't it?" he offered, and you looked at it for a moment -the bundle of curls almost reached the bottom of his neck.
"Rick, believe me when I say this," you moved your hand to his cheek -mock-serious, "-I will kill you if you cut your hair."
Rick let out a full-body laugh at that one, head tilting up to the sky. You smiled at the noise, heart lurching in your chest.
"Don't get me wrong," you clarified, hand still in place "-I've seen the pictures, and you are very handsome with short hair-"
He just smiled at you, eyes trickling all over your features. It made you want to fidget a little.
"-in fact, I think you'd be handsome with any hair, actually-"
Rick leaned forward and pecked your lips, effectively cutting off your reasoning. It was a simple kiss, just surface level, still made you smile though.
"Ya do know how to flatter a guy, you know 'at?" he hummed, fingers tapping along the wood. He kind of looked like he wanted to touch you, but, you know, dirt hands.
"I am just stating facts," you argued. It was unreal how he did not know how plain attractive he was. God, you could wake up every day stoked just because you were together.
He changed his footing, looking at you curiously, "What are ya doin' out 'ere anyway?"
Blue eyes drew to your trunk, where a substantial pile was growing -messy colors and books and stationery-
"'Looks like a lotta stuff," he commented, saying playfully (but there was something a little serious in his tone), "-Ya ain't leavin' me, are ya?"
"No," you laughed in disbelief, but you saw something in him relax, "-Remember that job I have? That you ignore?"
Rick rolled his eyes, "I don't ignore it."
"You do," you patted his cheek, "-you buy everything for me. But-"
He smiled at you, affectionately, turning to kiss your palm.
"-since school starts in a few weeks," you explained, "-I have to go set up my classroom. What is in my trunk is not my stuff, but instead, tragically, is cute little posters about multiplication tables."
"Cute?" he questioned, eyes looking at you so fondly you thought that you might melt in your place.
"They're jungle themed," you clarified, motioning with your hands, "-have little monkeys on the sides."
Rick smiled at you, something smoothing into his eyes, "'At does sound pretty cute."
Your eyes flicked between his, "I said that, didn't I?"
He laughed again, and you pulled him to your lips that time -a little longer than before, but not much more than the press of the lips. Although you were pretty sure Rick wanted it to be. You too, really.
"Alright, loverboy," you parted, dropping your hands from his face, "-you've distracted me enough, I have some work to do. The colorful letter cutouts will not stack themselves."
He looked at you a second, before asking, "Ya need an extra set of hands? Or maybe three?"
"Oh, you don't need to wake them up, Rick, I'll be fine-" you hummed, "-it'll only take a few hours."
"Carl's helpin' me outside, and Judith is pickin' flowers, think she might give 'em to ya actually, and-" he tilted his head -playfully, "-I gotta few hours."
You laughed, "Do you?"
"For ya?" he grinned, eyes skimming over yours -fond, "-Absolutely."
Rick ended up piling up his kids in his truck and following you to the school. What can you say? You were weak-willed when it came to Rick Grimes.
Now, you were roaming down the hallways, hands full of papers, muttering the instructions you got from an email to your classroom. Beside you, Rick held most of the stuff (not that you hadn't offered), Carl held one box, and with your free hand, you held Judith's -keeping her close. Rick's eyes had been following it the whole way, you probably would've said something, if you weren't so distracted.
"Rick!" a woman called, crouching down to the kids' level, "-and look, Carl and Judith too! Hey guys."
She was young, wearing a floral top and regular jeans. She had blonde curly hair and a deep sort of blue eyes. Her voice was warm and she seemed so welcoming it was actually unbelievable-
Now that you noticed it, she came out of the first hallway -the younger classes. You briefly wondered if she was a teacher too.
"Hey, Beth," Rick chimed happily, warm, "-just helpin' Y/N get 'eir room ready."
"Y/N," she smiled, big and bright, rising back to her feet, "-the Y/N?"
He chuckled, and you saw the tips of his ears go pink (a smile bloomed onto your lips again), but still, he confirmed, "Yeah if ya wanna say it like 'at, the Y/N."
The woman grinned, something twinkling in her eyes, before realizing she hadn't turned to you yet, "Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Beth, Beth Greene, I teach Kindergarten here."
Figures.
"Hi, it's really nice to meet you," you chimed, smiling, "-and even though you don't need it apparently," your eyes shot to Rick a second, "-I'm Y/N. I teach third grade, and am... currently trying to find my classroom."
"Oh," she spoke, eyes lighting up at the idea of helping, "-I can totally help you with that! Third is gonna be the second hallway, what's your classroom number?"
"203," you replied with ease -in all your nerves, you had memorized it.
"That's easy," she waved a hand dismissively, "-should be right at the front, odd rooms are on the left."
"Thank you," you smiled.
"I hope to see you around!"
You grinned wide and continued walking down the main hallway. Maybe I shouldn't be so nervous.
"Look at ya," Rick hummed, teasingly, "-already makin' friends."
You pursed your lips, warning, "Don't start, loverboy."
He laughed, as you turned down the second hallway -eyes darting between room numbers, a little frantically. Rick's eyes lingered on you a little longer, eyebrows furrowing a second. He opened his mouth to say something, but you interrupted him.
"There it is," you breathed out a sigh of relief -second door on the left.
Grabbing your key off your lanyard which had your photo ID too, you slid it into the lock and turned.
Taking in the room, you were nearly bouncing on your toes. Not that it was anything special, it was just a basic classroom with lines of desks, a big whiteboard, plain white brick walls, and a big desk in the corner. It was just... your very own classroom.
"Ya look happy," Rick chimed, coming up to your side as Judith and Carl ran into the room.
You instinctively called out, thinking of the hard tile flooring under your shoes, "Be careful, you two! Don't fall!"
The both of them slowed down considerably, and you let out a sigh of relief -placing the papers you had on one of the desks in front of you and turning to Rick.
He was smiling at you so fondly that you promptly forgot what you were saying -heart skittering in your chest, "Sorry, what did you say?"
"Ya look happy," he repeated, blue eyes skimming over your face a little like he couldn't get enough of you.
"Oh, yeah, I am," you agreed, smile on your face, "-I've always had assistant jobs, this is... I finally have my own classroom. It's big for me, even if sounds a little stupid-"
Rick shook his head, putting the boxes onto the floor, and approached you -running his hands along your arms, "Ain't stupid, baby. Not at all."
You smiled at him but not quite the fullest, nerves still bubbling under your skin, "Thank you."
He furrowed his eyebrows, eyes smoothing over your smile, "'Ere's somethin' else. What's wrong?"
You bit at your lips a second, "I just... I really don't want to mess this up. I've only ever been an assistant-"
His hands moved up to cup your face, turning your eyes onto his -steady gaze, "You're gonna do great. Not a doubt in my mind."
You pursed your lips.
"I've seen ya wit' Carl and Judith," he continued, genuine and honestly, "-you're amazin', baby. You 'ave nothin' to worry 'bout."
"Yeah?"
"'Course," he assured, leaning forward and pecking your lips once, "-Now, what ya want me to do, boss?"
You laughed, and the four of you got to work. Well, Judith was sitting at a desk coloring with crayons but you'd still counted it (especially when she'd offered you the finished product after Carl signed it for her. You immediately stuck it on the pinboard behind your desk. Rick couldn't stop smiling at you).
You were, at the current moment, making nametags with Carl; you were writing their names and he was folding them into triangles -quite diligently, you added. Every once in a while he'd tell you about somebody if he knew them, 'Annie likes the color pink, and James likes dinosaurs, he let me play with his favorite once. It was so cool-'. Attentively listening, you carefully skimmed every name, making sure that their name was spelled right.
"Do you know what Mary's favorite princess is?" you asked, curiously.
Carl paused from folding, gathering an oddly serious face (you almost laughed), "'Think she told somebody it was Cinderella once."
Kind of basic, your mind chimed.
"Good choice," you hummed instead, and you could feel Rick's eyes heavy on the two of you -you chanced a look at him and sweetly smiled. He grinned, shaking his head, and busying himself with the posters.
And then, there was a rapt on the door.
You curiously looked to the door and spotted a man with dark hair and dark eyes. His eyes surfed along the room before landing on Rick, a grin seeping across his face.
"I heard we had a visitor," he spoke, echoing out into the room.
Rick spun to him, grinning wide and making strides to the door, "Glenn, 'ey! Ya heard from Maggie?"
The man, Glenn, smiled in a small sort of way, shaking his head -embarrassed. You peeked up at the two of them, curiosity peaked.
Carl whispered, low for your ear, "'At's Glenn, he teaches here."
You turned to him, digging deeper, "And whose Maggie?"
He darted to the group, seeing they were lost in conversation, and putting his hand in front of his mouth, whispering, "She sells flowers in town, he has a big crush on 'er."
"Really?" you whispered back, "-How do you know?"
"Dad said so," he responded, blue eyes locked onto yours, "-Glenn won't ask her to be his girlfriend though."
"No," you exaggerated, enraptured, "-does Maggie like him back?"
"Yeah," he answered, mindlessly folding, "-she looks at 'im how Dad looks at you. And Dad really likes you."
You smiled, something in your chest fluttering, laughing a little, "Does she?"
"Yeah," he hummed, adding dramatically, "-And she twirls her hair."
"Oh, wow," you responded, playfully, "-she must really like him then."
He nodded at you, as you continued writing away. Until a thought crossed your mind.
"Has your Dad ever tried to get Maggie to make a move?" you asked.
"Dunno," Carl answered, shrugging, "-Dad says everybody in Alexandria is waiting on it. I don't really care, though."
You laughed, and you felt Rick's eyes dart to you at the noise, "Well, at least, you have your priorities straight, Carl."
There was a pause.
"You should try it though," he added, a little quietly, not looking at you.
"Should I?"
"Yeah," he leaned into his hand, "-I think if two people like each other, they should be together. 'Specially if they really like each other. Like you and Dad."
"And you're-" you pursed your lips, "-you're okay with me and your Dad?"
"Yeah," Carl spoke, instantly, "-he smiles a lot with you. 'Didn't used to smile that much when we weren't around."
You frowned slightly but didn't say a word.
"'Cause Mom left," he commented, tone much lower than before. You just watched him quietly. You hadn't really thought too much about Lori, or, at the very least, Carl's perspective.
It might be a little like he lost a Mom.
You bit your lip, bouncing your pen for a moment, "Hey Carl?"
He turned to you, big blue eyes, and his fingers dancing along the table.
"It's okay to miss her sometimes," you decided, eyes settling along his face, "-even if... even if she left on purpose. You can still miss her."
"I can?" he asked so genuinely that it made your heart ache in your chest.
"Yeah, of course," you hummed, giving him your full attention, "-we can still miss the people who hurt us. Especially if you love them."
"And," he started, voice maybe a little wobbly, "-And it's okay if it did hurt me?"
Something in your gut twisted. Oh, Carl.
You took a breath in, hand coming to smooth down his arm, "Yeah, sometimes-" your hand smoothed along his head, "-sometimes people do things that hurt us, and it-" you bit your lip, remembering things yourself, "-it hurts for a long time. And you know what? That's okay."
Carl just looked at you.
"It's okay to feel hurt by someone," you added, not moving your eyes from his, "-even when you love them."
Carl looked at you for a second, processing the words. You attentively kept his gaze, patient.
Before you could blink, he scraped back his chair and threw himself into your arms. Tiny little arms and hands hugging you.
You smiled, a little bittersweetly (maybe with a dusting of tears in your eyes), hand coming up to carefully hold the back of his head. Wordlessly, you smoothed your palm against it -repetitively.
Looking up to match Rick's concerned eyes, you motioned dismissively with your free hand, mouthing 'Later'. He seemed to shoot between your eyes and the back of Carl's head, rolling his lip in between his teeth.
'It's okay', you mouthed, trying to reassure him, '-he's okay.'
Something in him softened, and he took a deep breath, turning back to Glenn.
You did eventually meet Glenn, Rhee you learned; he taught fifth grade, towards the end of the third hall. Just like everyone else, he'd said Rick had practically introduced you already. It made you grin, just like it did every other time. He was nice, friendly even, offered to help you learn the ropes -which, you kind of desperately needed.
A little after that, with the help of Rick's height and Carl's remarkable focus (seriously, you wished you had that), you finished your classroom. Cubbies pushed against the wall, crayons in little drawers, papers properly filed in your desk, and walls covered in cute posters. You deserved a little break, so you took one.
Eating dinner with the Grimes, you stayed over. Leading you to now, as you sat -curled up on the couch watching whatever sitcom was on. It seemed familiar, but you couldn't really remember. Rick was putting Carl to bed, as he'd put Judith a few hours earlier, and you just sat in the coziness of his house.
It was crazy how nice it felt to be in here.
"Hey, baby," Rick hummed out, waltzing up to your side.
"Hey," you greeted with a sweet sort of smile.
Rick sat down just beside you, pulling you into his side (his body warmth bubbling along his skin, and a woodsy smell pulling through your nose). In response, you went to lean your head onto his shoulder -naturally.
"Just one thin'," he hummed, and you stopped in your tracks as he guided your chin up. And with fond, twinkly eyes, he kissed you.
It was languid, beard scratching at your face, and fingertips gently on your skin. Your hand naturally pushed through his hair, brushing through the curls with your fingers. Rick let out a low hum in response that made your stomach twist in a sort of pleasant way, so you kept doing it. Lips melding together with each breath you took, you had the spare thought that he kissed you a little carefully -gently. It made sparks shoot to your toes that he cared so much. Wanted to make you feel special and cared for.
You parted then, eyes fluttering open with a breath, a little flustered. Rick laughed a little at your reaction, fingers brushing along the hinge of your jaw -the careful touch of his callouses.
"Ya are so cute," he hummed, low as a whisper, "-always so flustered by me. 'S cute."
"In my defense," you responded, "-you are probably the hottest person like... maybe ever."
He quirked an eyebrow, a playful smirk smoothing across his lips, "Hottest, huh?"
You paused, "Uh, yeah. I call you handsome all the time-"
"Handsome and hot are two different thin's darlin'," he interrupted, curling his hand behind your ear, "-'s 'bout the intention."
"Well, then-" you continued a little uncertain, "-yeah. You look like you deserve to be carved out of marble-"
His eyes just laid heavily on you, but you could see the tips of his ears turn pink.
"-and at the same time, I would like to watch you chop wood shirtless sometimes," you finished, a little quieter.
He laughed just a little, before confessing, "Sometimes, I do chop wood, actually."
"Really?"
"Yeah," he explained, voice low and gruff, "-in the winter, in case the power goes out. Keep some firewood for the fireplace. Don't think bein' shirtless would be a good idea in 'at weather."
You hummed, distracted by the way his fingers were brushing against your skin. It was so fond it made your head spin.
"'Could be shirtless for other reasons though," he added, tone coated in something different.
You let out a breath, eyes flicking between his, mindlessly poking his chest -accusingly, "Now that's not fair, Grimes. Jokes like that-"
"Who said I was jokin'?"
Your breath hollowed out in your chest, your heart pounding a little too fast. You swallowed, eyes holding his heavy look that you had never really seen before, but you knew very much what it meant.
Heart leaping into your chest, you spoke, "Yeah?"
"Kids are asleep," he offered, eyes set on your face -dipping to your lips, "-if ya want to, I want to."
"Jesus Christ," you muttered.
He laughed a little at that, eyes fond for a second. But continued strumming along your skin, careful touch now definitely making your head spin.
You breathed out, "I would like that. Yeah, who wouldn't?"
Laughing again, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours -surface level, but something new biting there. A promise for more.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, hands twisting into his hair. He hummed again, but this time a little differently.
Before you could blink, he was pulling you up to stand, and right before you could do that, he hitched his arms under your thighs -effectively carrying you.
You swallowed, god help me.
Rick grinned at you, something shining in his blue eyes, "'Figured I could show you somethin' else with my strength, yeah?"
You croaked out, just staring at him, "Yeah."
He laughed big and bright then, eyes smoothing to your lips, and decidedly saying, "'Said I was gonna take care of ya, didn't I?"
You blinked, swallowing. Well, maybe you didn't need god to help you.
You looked at Rick a second, before he started to move to the bedroom with a pretty quick pace -almost running. You laughed.
Maybe you were already blessed.

8/18/23
Today was a divergence from the norm. Not that there really is a norm for me anymore, but yeah... you know what I mean.
I didn't sleep great, it was really hot out. More humid than hot, I guess. I don't know why I woke up, I have my suspicions it was hunger but I honestly don't know. I struggled to get back to sleep. I checked my email and saw that my building manager emailed me back.
I was immediately pretty embarrassed, because I had deliberately emailed the assistant manager, and the manager emailed me back... so... kinda awkward? But I saw the assistant later in the day when I picked up my groceries and she was friendly, I'm guessing the weird is just in my head.
My building manager told me that the way they handle noise complaints in-house is for me to call the emergency on-call people in the building, leave my name and my apartment number and let them know what's going on. Then the on-call person will go and talk to them for me. It will be handled anonymously, and then followed up on the next day by email. That's what I was told. I told my therapist this today and his eyes kinda bugged out a bit. I had to explain to him that like... in this building, it feels like "emergency" means like... "there's a funny smell coming from my heaters at 2AM". And I literally did not call my former landlords for help when there was a big chunk of the wall rotting in. (I really should have told them, I know... it's a PTSD thing for me and I'm getting better about it.)
So... basically... I am going to have to wake someone up at 2AM or later... and call them... and let them know that my neighbor sounds like their moving furniture at all hours of the night for the 3rd night in a row. I have to treat it like calling front desk at a hotel at 2AM, I guess. Yeah, that makes more sense for my brain.
I feel bad for the on-call people, I met one the first week I was here, she was super nice. I just feel bad waking someone up at 2AM because... I can't sleep. Feels contradictory. But yeah, I mean... they're getting paid... so... it is what it is.
So I'm kinda getting ready for possibly having to do that tonight. If not, it will most likely be next Tuesday. This does seem to be a recurring trend around Monday-Tuesdays. It sucks but once it's over with, hopefully it's over with for good. And, as I said to my therapist, it's better than banging on the ceiling with a stick... which would most likely come off as angry and provocative. I do have to say, last night? I was seconds away from doing that. I had my staff raised to the roof and ready, at 3:30AM. But I talked myself out of it. It's for the best.
So... today was super low-key and chill. I didn't skate, I didn't really do art... (that's a lie but I'll get to that). I haven't even done yoga yet. Just a super slow moving chill rest day, after 3 days in a row of intense skating. I'm glad I did it, I really can tell I needed a day off. Once I get in a groove with skating and snowskating, all I want to do is be at the park. And my body needs to recover. So... yeah, today was a good excuse to celebrate my accomplishments and just chill.
I got groceries, that was good. It was more expensive than I was planning... it always fucking seems to be... but it was a lot of bulk stuff so that's good. And I didn't have any problems with the order, which is always great.
The big landmark of the day was therapy. My therapist actually deliberately took time to point out that my entrance into the session today was confidently positive, and he could tell a big difference in me. He said I usually say I'm doing "okay" or "mixed" or "hanging in there", shit like that. Today, I was doing well. There was some talk about how in the past... this has been mistaken for "mania" by untrained eyes. That made me go down some difficult memory hallways, but it's good to know that this sensation of actually doing well... actually making progress against my struggles... is not an illness or illusion within itself. And I'm really going to struggle to forgive the gaslighters who planted those seeds in my head. How fucking evil is that? To convince someone that they're delusional and acting dangerous or "reckless" when they FINALLY make unassisted progress with their crippling anxiety and depression. All because "you changed".
Yeah, no fucking shit I changed, I was an insecure paranoid lump of depression! No shit I changed!!! Why the fuck would I stay as that?! That's not me. That's a state that I am in. I am so much more than that.
That was another point covered today - my struggle to kinda... distinguish between anxious thoughts and others. And I explained the intense reactions I got when I was talking about snowskating the rotary the other day... where I was worried I might have like... given the kid bad advice to skate there and he's just going to get busted... or made myself look stupid for skating at a spot that is like... an obvious kick-out spot. I don't even know the specific fear I had, but it was fucking intense Twilight Zone feelings for like... 15 seconds. And... I'm guessing the conclusion on that is... that was a trauma response? Not an anxiety one? And I'm pretty sure that trauma is like... leaking information to the wrong people. Having my boundaries be too thin and just handing a dossier to an enemy spy or something. That, of course, flashing me back emotionally to many different traumatic incidents of betrayal where that did happen with very close people, including family.
So... I really tried to emphasize that I'm now struggling to identify the anxiety in that at all. And I fear that I might actually deeply struggle to identify the anxious thoughts in the first place, which would explain a lot of my struggles so far. The way I tried to explain it was... the thoughts sound the same in my head. They're all the same voice, the same tone, and I don't really think there are physical or emotional tells either? Or I'm just not used to them? Or I'm just not tuned in to them? So it's really hard for me to distinguish between anxiety and just... self-protective conscience, I guess.
Let me give an example that just popped into my head. I fucking miss walking barefoot, I am always barefoot in my house, all the time. But I don't walk around barefoot in the apartment building. I just pictured myself taking my trash to the trash room down the hall barefoot... and corrected myself... and went "yeah, it's a good idea to put shoes on for that." In this case, this is not for personal safety. This would be for like... other peoples' weird phobias. Not wanting to upset someone and have them tell me to put shoes on because... apparently the bottom of my feet are dirtier than... the bottom of their boots? Somehow?
Is this anxiety? Is it common courtesy? Is it avoiding potential conflict? I don't know! I'm leaning towards anxiety, honestly. And... I guess... it's all a numbers game in the end.
Oh shit, here's a really fucking good story that feels relevant. When I was... I guess in my mid-20's... It was right before I went for my solo thru-hike... I finally started to "date" again after my college ex "love of my life" broke up with me. I went on a few dates with this chick who I met on a dating site, the first person I dated since my college ex. I decided, on impulse, to take her on a trip to a beach 5 hours away in another state - like I used to do with my college friends back in the day. No plan, just spur of the moment hopping in a car, I'll drive, adventure time. We had only been going out for about 2 weeks, so only a few dates. She actually went with me.
I don't remember anything but us getting to the beach and the hotel room after. I remember getting to the beach and it was night and a storm was rolling in. I think the plan was to hang out at the beach and maybe find a place to park nearby and sleep in the car? Again, no plan so we were just winging it. A big lightning storm started rolling in from across the ocean. And I remember being on the beach, and seeing the lightning crashing, and just being so fucking scared out of my mind that I was going to get struck, but still allowing myself to be out there. I don't think I've ever felt that fucking vulnerable in my life. I don't even remember if she went outside the car with me. I think I just like... ran a short loop along the beach in the rain and looped back. After that, we decided to get a hotel room (I covered all of it) and I remember that she wanted to sleep in separate beds. And that was... upsetting to me. Because I hadn't shared a bed with anyone since my ex, and I missed that sense of closeness so much. I was really disappointed. And I get why, now that I'm older, who knows what baggage she had. But yeah, she broke up with me not long after that trip. Refused to even drive me to the trailhead, and she had agreed to be the person to do that ahead of time... so I had to have my mom do it instead. So... not only did I do a 3-day thru hike alone... barefoot... but I did it a day or two after that chick broke up with me. Yay.
Back to the point of the story. Now? The most recent storm we had, I was scared to sit near my big windows when lightning was crashing outside. So... here's the juxtaposition I'm struggling with. Was the beach trip... reckless or brave? Was the self-protective caution trying to keep me in that car, that I managed to override in order to have my adventure... was that healthy fear? Or was it anxiety? And, comparatively, is my anxiety of being scared of being struck by lightning... while sitting on the floor on the middle floor of a 3 story building that is not the tallest building in the region... is that fear... reasonable? Or is it anxiety?
Where is the fucking line? How can I tell the difference? That's what I'm saying when I say "those two voices sound the same". I told my therapist "the voice that says 'watch out, there's a pebble up ahead' when I'm skating sounds and feels the same as the one that says 'don't call the community college about the teacher job, you're just wasting everyone's time, you know you're not qualified for that'". It's the same mechanism, and it really feels like the same experience... so how the fuck can I tell the difference? How can I classify it?
And... if I can't classify these thoughts as "healthy anxiety" and "damaging anxiety", then it really doesn't matter how much practice I do with skills or how many tools I have at my disposal, because I don't fucking know when to use them!
Skating has helped dramatically in my dismantling of my anxieties. Really trying to visualize what I think is going to happen that's making me scared of a trick, rather than just going... "yeah, I'll just not even bother trying that trick"... Actually engaging with that fear and accommodating for it has made a gargantuan difference.
Oh, while we're here, maybe a bit of a sidetrack... but Dan Corrigan said something super memorable in today's video and I wanted to quote him. He said that the best skateboarders are the best fallers, they can fall correctly and safely and keep getting back up to try again until they land it. I think that's super applicable to all kinds of shit in life.
Maybe I'm reminding myself of that for a reason. See... I'm so consumed in this... "early threat detection" method. Identify the anxiety as soon as possible, so I can thwart it with tools. When really, I just need to know how to handle the situation if it goes wrong. I don't know if I'm articulating myself clearly. Like... if I'm worried that I'm going to upset a person at the community college for "wasting their time" or whatever... I mean... okay... so... say that actually happens. Say I go there in person and I show an interest in part time teaching and I get a meeting with someone... and I say "yeah, so... I have a bachelors and I've been making art for 15 years" and they go... "yeah, you need a master's, it says it clearly right here on our application you dumbass stupid little dumb dumb-head idiot." Well, first off... that person is straight up getting fired if they do that... super unprofessional... Second, I can just follow up from there. "Are there any jobs you can think of in art education that I could qualify for? Any help would be greatly appreciated." Is that scary? That was like... a kneejerk response, first thought, no preparation... and an honest one, too. No embarrassment, no waste of time... in fact, it's demonstrating very clearly that I value their opinion. That's me taking the "fall" and rolling the fuck out of it rather than falling flat on my face. And I am actually very skilled at that.
I'm scared of skating because I haven't fallen enough and I'm afraid I don't remember how to fall correctly. I'm scared of social stuff like that too. Sending cold-call emails is a big one, calling people out of the blue, shit like that. Why? My first impulse says it all. "I have no one to proofread before I send it". And why would I need someone else to proofread my shit? Because I'm afraid I missed something, I'm afraid --- I'm afraid that I'm sending those messages from summer 2019. It's a trauma thing. UGH. THAT is why this is so much harder than anxiety.
God dammit and my therapist told me that too, he was just a bit quick with it and I didn't entirely follow. Anxiety is a whole other beast when trauma gets its hands on it and proves that anxiety right. Do that enough times, that's ingredients to make a shut-in. And a lot of my trauma is around reaching out to people (both close to me from the past and complete strangers) and... getting some really bad life-changing shit come back my way. Where if I had one friend give me their thoughts on the emails? They could have cautioned me that I was oversharing, or being too... spiritually cryptic or woo-woo... and spared me the embarrassment, and possibly even the trauma.
You know... when I was at the retreat where I was detoxing off meds... I had a roommate that was just entering his 40's. He was a good guy, I mean that, he just had been through fucking hell and you could tell. He was very emotionally detached and... inexperienced, I guess? And that led to anger mismanagement and outbursts, because he just didn't have any experience working with it. It was just stuffed down and down and down until the pressure cooker popped, and that's just not how you manage emotions. I learned a lot about that in my family, a masterclass on repressed emotions... I learned that a great indicator that someone is severely inexperienced with a specific emotion is if they seem a bit... child-like in their method of expressing it. Like a child throwing a tantrum. That's a good indicator of someone who hasn't refined their method of dealing with that headspace since... around that age. I think, at least.
But anyway... we had a moment one night where I was trying to bond with him... and he was sharing stories about his ex who I guess recently broke up with him... and I wanted to share with him the email that I sent to my ex. I sent it on Facebook, actually... I think... of all places... I wanted to share it because I could tell he was being vulnerable with me and I wanted to meet him there, and I wanted to share something I had never shared with anyone... something I felt was like... one of my greatest mistakes, my biggest shames, involving what I considered the "love of my life". Like "I never should've sent that shit, I pray she never read it". And... he didn't give me time to share it. I remember having it up on my phone and ready to read to him, and it would've been my first time re-reading it since I sent it. I literally don't know what it says. I remember years later... going back and reading the email... and it was really heartfelt, it wasn't bad. And honestly, I'd like to read it again. I'm so fucking tired of frantically running from this shit.
What my therapist told me today, and I've heard this in other places too and fucking hell is it solid gold. Write this shit down if you're reading this. When looking at the past, keep in mind - "I did the best I could with what I knew back then." I swear, that shit makes a big difference if you're anything like me.
Welp... I just signed into Facebook and fucking read that. My heart is pounding. Facebook is not a safe place for me. Facebook is a trauma within itself that I'm not getting into tonight. But I just found a message on there from two fucking years ago. It was my friend that I played minecraft with over 10 years ago, who I went to visit in person for the first time on my solo road trip. I drove 12+ hours straight and got to her apartment that night, our first time ever seeing each other in person, and passed out on her pull-out couch. I was so fucking exhausted, I had all the windows open, chain smoking and periodically pinching my thighs to keep myself awake on the highway as I was getting into the city she lived in. That was like... the least safe I've ever driven in my life. I have seen this chick on Instagram a lot, I've even liked some of her posts from my art profile. But... i don't think she knows it's me. And after I saw that facebook message from 2 years ago... that was her reminiscing on how we hadn't talked in... 10 years... It shows me she still remembers me. And she grew up pretty damn close to where I'm currently living, no more than an hour away. And she went to college for engineering and is now really into doing her own cosplay from what I see. She'd be a really good person for me to reconnect with, at least see if she's in the state. Or just to be a friend, you know? So, that was a cool impulse decision to open that up and see that.
Reading the message to my ex? That was... man, that was a rollercoaster. There was some cringe in there. Specifically... the stuff about the I Ching, that I was fanatic about at the time - though honestly, I recovered from it gracefully in the message through self-deprecating humor. And the fact that it was like 5 fucking pages long was kinda rough... It just kept going and going. It was literally a summary of my life from when she left to where I was at the time. And there was a lot of apologizing for my family. And asking her if she wanted to get coffee sometime was corny... but I immediately recovered from it... I think it was intentional. I think it was a coy way of like... breaking the awkwardness and saying what someone would expect an ex coming out of the woodwork to say... like "let's give this another shot", and then springing that at like... page 4? XD But I immediately followed it up by saying... getting back to our roots, back to where we started when we met. Because when we met, we used to just go get coffee and dinner after art classes and just talk for hours, as good friends. For like... a year and a half before I finally grew the balls to ask her out. All-in-all, it shared a lot. I don't know why I felt compelled to share all of that... rather than just... ask for a meeting or phone call and then share after the fact? I'm going to chalk that up to inexperience. Which I also commented on very self-aware in the message.
But a good thing I need to notice in here? The entire message was very coherent, and I'm reading this 4 years later... I was likely high at the time, I was smoking a ton of weed back then, and none of it sounds any different than how I communicate now. At all. It clearly sounds like my voice. I could even hear my own inflection in the phrasing when I read it back. And that. That letter is probably my biggest "cringe" trauma regarding writing, sending letters, cold-calls, etc. That's one of the core reasons why I feel compelled to get a second opinion on important emails and texts and applications and shit. I don't trust myself. I don't trust my writing. And I'm a writer! (See how that might cause a problem?...)
I have written here every fucking night for almost a year now. I post it publicly. I don't even edit it. And I'm scared to write an email to my old drawing teacher, who really took a liking to me. I'm scared to write to my old painting teacher who I hugged at her boyfriend's funeral. I'm scared to write my former friend - who I was a groomsman for - to turn down his graphic design commission. I'm scared to send an Instagram message to this chick who already took the plunge and sent me a cold-call FB message 2 years ago! And my justification? I just need someone to look this over for me. Just to see if there's anything I'm missing. Just in case. The implication, of course, being that I have already screwed it up and I'm just not seeing it.
And I will stall on sending those things, those applications, those emails... for weeks, months... years... until eventually, you just come to terms with the fact that it's not stalling anymore, it's avoidance. All because your own parent and your former best friend (who happened to be a crisis counselor and became a psychology professor) falsely diagnosed my unsupported battle with panic attacks/isolation, my discovery of my spiritual self and my reconnection with my confidence... as delusion. And they ground that into me until I believed it myself. And to this day... I can still feel those roots deep in my brain.
That's why I apologized for my family so much in the message. That message must have been sent after they turned on me. And I was apologizing to her, because I was trying to after-the-fact protect her from them. To apologize for anything my mother might have said to her, because I remember distinctly them having a private conversation the first time they met without me present... I was in the next room with my leg elevated all fucked up on Percoset transcribing music by ear. I remember it clear as day, I was transcribing Tides of Man for all instruments. And I have no idea what they talked about, but she left and never came back with no explanation very very shortly after that... like one or two days after that. And I have strong suspicions my mom might have played a part in that, still to this day. So yeah, I think that might've been a big motivator in why I sent that message... maybe that's when I connected the dots that she broke up with me right after I moved back home and right after she first met my family.
Anyway. Yeah. I guess... it turns out... the worst-case-scenario ghost memory in my head of me writing some nonsense incoherent babble to some poor woman who dated me for 8 months in college... That's kinda the ignorant take on what happened there. That was an extremely heartfelt letter I wrote to someone who literally changed my life, at an extremely pivotal time in my life. My first experience staring death in the face. And transitioning from college into the "real world". I don't take those things lightly. And I felt, because she was present at important times... that meant she was an important person in my life. Because... that's how kids who are raised with absent parents think. If my parent was present at this time, it means they were an important person at that time. Even if they were essentially a glorified background actor, rather than being supportive or nurturing. I truly believed back then that if someone was present in the room with me at the time of an important event, and wearing the uniform of someone important... that meant they were important to me. And in the years since, I have learned so fucking much more than that. I have learned that the standards I keep for myself in those roles... that's the standard I should hold others too as well. I would not sit there on my phone silently while my boyfriend faced a choice between likely death or amputation. But... at the time I wrote that letter, I hadn't received this insight yet. I was still in the mindset of "it was a blessing that you even showed up". She didn't even want to drive me to the hospital, and put up resistance when the paramedics at the festival we were at insisted she take me. God, so many red flags, in hindsight... XD
Wow... that was a really unexpected trip down memory lane. All because... I struggle to write emails, to make phone calls, to put in job applications. Because it brings me back to that time of my life... when I was more than willing to do all of those things. And I did. And I was pretty damn good at it. But people very close to me turned that against me... redirecting my deepest fears tracing back to my first series of panic attacks that failed me out of college... and turning them against me... to stop me in my tracks. To stop me from doing what I was doing. For whatever reason they had, that is still unknown to me. They turned me against myself, and I'm still weeding out that infection to this day.
That kinda makes the email I sent to the building manager last night seem like a titanic feat, doesn't it? I'm very proud of myself. I took most of the day to just chill and celebrate my accomplishments. I do need to figure out job stuff soon enough, but not today. I played a lot of Elden Ring and... I started playing around with making a bead-sanding machine out of wooden skewers and gorilla glue. It didn't quite work, I'm not an engineer, I've never really tried to build anything like this before. It was basically just a skewer with a hand crank glued to the end, so it has a right angle bar going off the end, then another right angle for a handle, and then I inserted the skewer end through a hollowed out larger wooden dowel as a support that was held in my vice. It turns, it does what it's supposed to do, but it was a bit too flimsy and didn't hold up to pressure very well. I ended up just sanding by hand, it ended up being easier. So... I kinda did work today. Because I built a simple wooden machine and sanded like 4-5 beads.
And I will need to try to heat-set the pants tonight, so I kinda need to go and do that. It got super late, it's definitely time for bed. (Hey, guess what? Haven't heard any thump-thumps tonight... Guess something changed up there...)

summary: the first part of the reputation series in which the reader first meets Damiano
pairing: Damiano David x famous!reader
word count: 2k
what kind of content: fluff
warnings: drinking
passages written in cursive are flashbacks
some of the lyrics were changed so they would fit the story
Please don’t steal any of my conten and release it elsewhere. Also all of this is fiction. I don’t know these people in real life nor do I know how they act
a/n I I hope you all enjoy this one, as much as I do. I’m so excited about this series jdhidcuheu. What song do you guys think is next? As always please keep in mind english is not my first language. I’m super happy about feedback!!
With a buzzing head I woke up. I shouldn’t have drank so much yesterday. Feeling the after effects of the alcohol I consumed yesterday, I looked at the sleeping figure next to me. A gorgeous man with brown hair and tattoos that fitted him perfectly. I smiled to myself, knowing he was the reason I probably drank a little too much yesterday. There was no way I would have found the courage to actually talk to him otherwise. He looked like an angel sleeping so peacefully in my queen-sized bed. As I looked at his sleeping figure, an idea popped into my head. I grabbed my notebook and went to my balcony that was connected to my bedroom. Looking at him one last time through the huge window in front of me. I opened my notebook and started writing down some lyrics in memory of last night.
You should take it as a compliment That I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk You should think about the consequence Of your magnetic field being a little too strong
“We wanted to start working on our next album soon too.” , the gorgeous man in front of me said with an Italian accent.
After a few drinks I was finally talking to him. I was too busy taking in his beauty that I didn’t really listen  to what he just said to me. All of a sudden, I started giggling.
“You know, your accent is so funny, I love it. Like the way you pronounce some words? Hilarious”.
“Thanks, I guess?”
I cringed a little thinking about this specific moment. If he knew the only reason I was making a fool out of myself in front of him was his magnificent appearance, he would take it as a compliment. He probably already knew that was the reason. How could he not know? It’s not like he has never looked in a mirror. Also, there is no way, I am the first person that had to suffer from his magnetic self. By now he should know what his whole existence is doing to people.
And I got a boyfriend, he's older than us He's in the club doing, I don't know what You're so cool, it makes me hate you so much (I hate you so much)
“Shouldn’t your boyfriend be here as well?” the beautiful Italian boy asked.
“My wha- Oh you mean Andre? He isn’t my boyfriend. The media just made that up after we went out once, and I was caught at two of his games. We haven't talked in months. He’s probably at some club right now, annoying some poor girl.”
At that moment I thought I’ve seen a small smile appear on his face. He then just turned to the bar tender, ordering another beer. God, how could he just keep his cool like this the whole night. Usually it was the other way around. People would stand drunk in front of me trying to make a move, while I just stood there unimpressed. He really made me feel like an insecure fourteen-year-old girl again, and I hated him for that
Whisky on ice, Sunset and Vine You've ruined my life, by not being mine
“The sunset is really beautiful today” Damiano stated sipping on his glass of Whisky. I nodded in agreement while I ate a grape from the vine that was placed on the bar counter.
The bar were at was on top of a small mountain somewhere outside Rome. From there we had a great view over the whole city of Rome and how the sun met the city's skyline. It really was beautiful, still it was nothing compared to him. I wish he would’ve been mine, so I could’ve rested my head on his shoulder right there and then, but he wasn’t.
You should take it as a compliment That I'm talking to everyone here but you (but you, but you)
“I’m glad we’re finally getting a chance to talk after you talked to, well, everyone else at this bar except me.”, the handsome man called me out while he sat down next to me.”
Feeling a bit caught, I just gave him an awkward smile. I tried to come up  with a reasonable excuse, that was less embarrassing than ‘Yeah sorry about that, I was just too scared to talk to you because you look like you’re straight out of my dreams.’
“I’m really sorry about that! It was just that every time I was done talking to someone, the next person already stood behind me wanting to talk.” I lied.
“It’s alright. I guess that's what happens when you’re a world-famous singer.”
And you should think about the consequence Of you touching my hand in the darkened room
It was now 11pm and the sky outside was completely dark. The lights in the bar were also dimmed a bit, creating a cozy atmosphere. Damiano and I were in the middle of our conversation, as he accidentally grabbed my hand, that was resting on the bar counter, instead of his drink. It felt like an electric shock. An electric shock that woke up the butterflies inside my body. My hand started to tingle, and I’m pretty I was full on blushing now.
If you've got a girlfriend, I'm jealous of her But if you're single that's honestly worse 'Cause you're so gorgeous it actually hurts
“So do you have a girlfriend?”,  at this point I was so drunk I didn’t even care how this question came across anymore.
I was pretty sure he in fact had a girlfriend, I mean how could he not looking like this?
“No I don’t.” Thank god. “It’s kinda hard building up a real relationship with someone when you're always busy, but I guess you can tell me a thing or two about it too.”
Oh, yes, I could. Still I would drop everything I was doing right now,  just to be with him.
Chocolate brown eyes looking in mine I feel like I might sink and drown and die
Just as my confidence made a small comeback, I made the mistake to directly look into Damianos beautiful brown eyes. There really wasn’t a single thing about him that wasn’t extremely beautiful. I started to feel a bit dizzy as a wave of heat rushed through my body. What is this man doing to me?
Just thinking about it again made my heart beat three times faster.
You make me so happy, it turns back to sad, yeah There's nothing I hate more than what I can't have You are so gorgeous it makes me so mad You make me so happy, it turns back to sad, yeah There's nothing I hate more than what I can't have
For like the million time this evening, he made a laugh. Great, so he wasn’t just incredibly handsome, but also extremely funny. I didn’t realize how happy I was in his presence until I remembered he wasn’t mine. Suddenly I felt kind of sad, thinking about how I maybe would never see him again after tonight. I just wanted to grab his hand and run away with him. Somewhere I could be alone with him. Somewhere he would be only mine.
Guess I'll just stumble on home to my cats Alone, unless you wanna come along
I looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall behind the bar tender. I was shocked when I realized it was already midnight. There was no way we’ve been talking for like three hours now. I scanned the room for my friends, I went here with in the first place.
“Looking for someone specific?” Damiano asked, now also looking in the direction I was looking in.
“Just my friends, but it seems like they already went home. I’ll check if they texted me” I picked up my phone, checking if I had a message from my friends.
‘Hi babe, we already went home, we were kinda tired. Have fun talking to handsome stranger. You better tell us everything tomorrow ;)’
“Did they text you?”
“Yes, my friend texted me that they already went home. Guess I’ll have to go home alone then. At least my cats are waiting for me.” I stood up and tried to make my way over to the wardrobe to get my coat. Unfortunately I forgot how drunk I actually and almost tripped as I tried to walk. Alcohol and heels really are not a good combo. Thankfully Damiano grabbed my arm helping me to stabilize myself.
“You’re sure, you’ll make it home alone?”
“Yes, I am a big girl. Unless you wanna come along.” I said with a cheeky grin on my face.
Damiano left out a soft chuckle. He paid for our drinks and then accompanied me on my way back home.
“It’s already pretty late, if you want to, you can stay over.” I told him after he brought me up to my bedroom.
“That would be nice, thanks.”
After I got myself ready for bed, I basically fell into my cozy bed, cuddling myself up in my soft sheet.
“You mind telling me where your guestroom is before falling asleep?” the Italian boy asked with an amused look on his face.
“Mmh, I don’t know. Just sleep here, it's fine.” I answered him, already half asleep.
After that, I probably fell asleep, since I don’t remember anything else that happened.
You're so gorgeous I can't say anything to your face (to your face) 'Cause look at your face
“Good morning.” I heard a raspy voice say.
I looked up from my notebook and came face to face with Damiano gorgeous figure. His hair was messy, and he still looked a bit sleepy. Since he just wore a pair of boxer shorts, I could finally see all the tattoos that covered his upper body. All of a sudden I felt the same way as I did last night when I saw him for the first time. The words were stuck in my throat and I felt the anxiety build up in my body. How does he manage to make me feel this way by just existing?
“Good morning. Did you sleep well?” I somehow managed to say.
“Yes I did thank you. What are you doing?” he asked me curiously as he sat down on the garden chair next to me.
“I’m just writing a song. The idea came to mind when I woke up.”
“Not gonna lie, it’s pretty impressive that you’re able to write a song now after you could barely walk yesterday.” a small laugh left his mouth. “Can I see it?”
“No, it’s kinda awful. I’m to hungover to write something good now. I just wanted to write the idea down.” I lied,  I actually really liked the stuff I wrote so far, but he would probably think I’m a freak when he found out I wrote a song about after knowing him for a day.
“Can you at least tell me what it is about?”
“So you can steal my brilliant idea? No, thanks.” we both started laughing. “I can offer you breakfast though”
“I’m fine with that too” he said flashing me his beautiful smile
And I'm so furious At you for making me feel this way But what can I say? You're gorgeous
We were now sitting on my roof garden eating breakfast. Damiano told me some things about his life and what interests he had. As he did, so I looked at him in awe. I really started crushing on him as he continued to talked about his last tour with a huge smile on his face. I hated it that I was practically on my knees for him already, but how could I not? He’s perfect.
“I could really get used to this, you know?” he said out of nowhere.
“Me too.” I responded, not really questioning what he meant.
I also didn’t care as long as it involved us spending time together. I would make him mine no matter what.

Joel Miller x Reader. Insecure Joel. No virus, no apocalypse. Divorced!Joel.
* * * * *
After his divorce with Sarah’s mother, Joel entered years of celibacy, except for the occasional hookups. He didn’t want to go down that road again, his marriage wasn’t the best one but he loved his wife and expected it to last forever, like they promised each other.
But things changed when he met you over a year ago.
It was one of those nights where his brother Tommy dragged him to a bar. You were there with some friends and the first thing he noticed about you was your smoking hot body. And before he knew it, Tommy brought you to their table to have a drink with them.
It was supposed to be one of those hookups. No strings attached. In the morning, he would’ve left and you probably wouldn’t have never met again.
But he broke rule number one on the first night anyway: never take someone home. He always found a way to go to his partner's place, or at least, found a place to do it, but never at his place. His home.
Until you.
Once you were done, he realized how young and innocent you looked. He could see the struggle on your face, as to whether you should leave or stay. He felt bad about himself and told you to stay. You warmly smiled and faxed yourself under the covers, your warm form curled up against him.
In the morning, he woke up to the smell of coffee and French toast. As you had breakfast together, you told him a bit about yourself and Joel found himself to be interested.
You left your phone number and two weekends later - he spends every two weekends with his daughter - Joel invited you for a drink. Which turned into a few ones. Which turned into taking you home again.
That was over a year ago. Now, you’re moving in with him.
He didn’t expect for it to happen. It’s just that when you mentioned wanting to move out from your crappy apartment, he simply told you to come live with him and Sarah. His teenage daughter is very fond of you, and Joel is deeply in love with you. There’s no reason this could go wrong, is there?
But somehow, it caused your first fight.
It was hard to fit two homes into one, and Joel wasn’t compromising at all. He didn’t want to get rid of anything.
“You have to meet halfway, Jo.” You told him, clearly annoyed.
“I am. I just don’t want to get rid of my couch. What’s wrong with that?”
“Well, for starters, mine is fairly new, bigger and way more comfortable. But it’s not just about the couch. It feels like you don’t want me to move in after all,” you said with such sadness in your voice, Joel felt horrible.
“I asked, didn't I?” He answered, defensively.
“Probably because you felt bad about my struggle to find a new place. Just like you felt bad after our first night together.”
“…What?”
“I’m not stupid, Joel. I know you didn’t want me to stay at first.”
“But you did.”
“Well, yeah. Because it was my first time hooking up with someone I just met. And—“ you took a deep breath. “I really don’t want to compliment you right now, but the sex was—mind blowing.”
You obviously were still pretty mad but Joel couldn’t help but smirk in his beard. Sex with you is indeed pretty mind blowing. There’s love, trust, passion, and you’re open-minded concerning his kinks. He never witnessed that before. Actually, he discovered new kinks with you, pretty much like if you were his very own kink.
“Take that smirk off your face. That’s unfair.” You breathed out.
Joel closed the distance between your bodies, and gently kissed your forehead. “Letting you stay that night was the best decision I’ve made in a very long time,” he kissed your nose. “I’ll get rid of the couch.” Then he kissed your lips and moved to your neck. “Let’s ruin it before.”
You chuckled and you did ruin his old couch.
A few weeks later, you were all moved in. Joel was exhausted, he fell asleep on your - extremely - comfortable couch. You covered him with a blanket and took care of the last details before cooking dinner.
Your parents had been owners of a restaurant for the past thirty years, your father being the chef and your mother doing pretty much the rest. You spent most of your time in the establishment as a child, and your father happily shared his know-how with you.
In the past year, Joel had barely spent time in the kitchen, as it became your space. Not that he minded.
He does mind the weight he’d been gaining though.
He woke up to the smell of one of your dishes, two hours after falling asleep. He could hear you doing your thing in the kitchen. He smiled, stretched himself and when his mind seemed awake enough, he joined you.
You felt his strong arms wrapping your middle, and took advantage of your messy bun to plant wet and sloppy kisses in your exposed neck. You felt shivers all the way through your body. “Hi handsome. Sleep well on the couch?”
“Bite me.” He growled against your skin and you chuckled.
“Did that last night.” You said, referring to the bite mark you left right on top of his shoulder. He had made you cum so hard, you didn’t control yourself.
“I love when you mark me.” He whispered in your ear, nipping your ear lobe.
“Good, I’m taking you for a scarification tomorrow. My name, right above your penis.”
“Hmm,” Joel was still planting kisses anywhere he could and you could feel his growing erection against your ass. It was getting really difficult to focus on the marinade in front of you. “I can meet you halfway and agree to get a tattoo.” You laughed but somehow imagined it. It would ruin any relationship for him if you two ever break up. “Only if you do the same, obviously.” He added.
“You would like that, wouldn’t you?”
He hummed in answer and you felt his hand playing with the waistband of your sweatpants. But you slapped his hand away before he could slide it in. “Put your hands to other use for now. Cut the onions for me,” you playfully rubbed your ass against his crotch but only to push him away.
Joel let go of you and looked around to find the onions. “Wow. I like punishment but only if I know what I did wrong.”
You laughed before throwing two onions at him, which he almost missed. As he began to peel them off, you gently grabbed the knife from his hands and squeezed a lemon on the blade. Joel looked at you, lovingly. “There. You won’t cry.” You said, handing him the knife.
“Huh, we’ve been dating for a year and you’re only telling this trick, now? I thought you loved me.” He used his best complaining voice, and he felt your hand slamming against his ass.
“What will we talk about in ten years if I tell you everything now?” You casually asked and it caught Joel off guard. He stayed silent while cutting the onions in small squares and you didn’t push it. You focused on your marinade and checked on the steamed vegetables.
“Are you picturing us still together in ten years?” He finally asked once he was done. He gave you the bowl with the onions in it.
“Well—yeah. Don’t you?” You took the bowl from his hand, preparing the pan in order to cook them.
Joel sighed. It had been a struggle since you two started to date. Your relationship had been so perfect, you had been an amazing partner, it almost feels surreal to me. “I guess my marriage broke a part of me.” He paused, staring at you cooking. “It’s like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
As you ditched the onions in a hot pan, a soft smile appeared across your face. “That will happen when your alien friends will come to pick you up, in order to bring you back to your home planet.”
Joel couldn’t help but laugh. He couldn’t believe you were real. He stared for a moment. You are so beautiful, young, funny and smart, with the biggest heart. How did he got so lucky?
He jumped on the part of the kitchen plan you weren’t using. “Or when I got so fat from your cooking, you’re not attracted to me anymore.” He finally said and you stopped everything you were doing.
“…what?”
“I gained a few pounds lately.” He confessed, avoiding your eyes this time.
“Yeah so?”
“Oh so you’re agreeing? Not even something like ‘honey that’s crazy, you haven’t changed a bit.’?”
"I'm sorry. Let me do this again.” You took a step back and got into character. “Joel! Are you crazy? You didn’t gain any pounds. Are those masculine magazines making you feel bad, again?”
“Wow. Don’t quit your day job to become an actress.”
You playfully punched his shoulder and he let out an “ouch!”. “But seriously love,” it was your loving and smoothing tone again. “Do you really feel bad about this?”
“Kinda. I’m already older than you, I can’t have that too.”
“Baby,” you settled between his legs and tiptoed to kiss him softly. “You’re perfect to me. I don’t care about your age, your weight, your height, the size of your—okay that, I do care but still.”
Never a woman made him laugh like you manage to. No matter the subject, the time of the day, his mood or your mood, you’re always able to bring a smile to his face. He’s so in love with you. “Do you get my point or do I have to take you upstairs to show it to you?” You stroked his beard and Joel leaned into your touch, humming in content.
“I won’t mind the show. But I’d rather have you showing me—here.”
“I better stop cooking and focus on my other hobby then.” You turned off everything and invited him to get down. “My favorite actually.” You whispered, before kissing him gently.
“Please do.” He pleaded, sticking out his tongue in order to meet yours.
As you kissed, you brought him against the wall of the kitchen. He moaned at your sudden dominance, and you felt his semi hard cock against your belly. Joel tried to travel under your tank top with his hands but you prevented him access. You quickly worked taking his tee-shirt off, throwing it on the floor. Your lips immediately crashed against his hairy chest, while your hands were softly caressing it. “I love you, Joel.” you whispered against his skin. “I love every part of you that you don’t.”
It was overwhelming. Never in his life has Joel felt this loved, this attractive. It was such a mix of feelings, he could have cried on the spot as well as fucked you senseless. But he only stood there, panting hard as you were taking his sweatpants and briefs off. He stepped out and you threw it away, next to his shirt. He was dying to undress you, to feel your smooth skin against his, but he knew better.
You kneeled in front of you, taking his hard member in your hand. You looked up to him with your big and loving E/C eyes. “You’re everything I’ve ever dreamt of,” you said. “Call me crazy but I’d follow you to your damn home planet.” you confess, referring to what you said a moment ago.
Joel intensely stared at your mouth when you gave him a first lick. This view was so damn perfect.
You teasingly played with your tongue against his cock before taking him in your mouth. Joel moaned, deeply and you sucked him for a moment, not taking all of his length yet. Your jaw needed to relax first. No matter the amount of time you’ve seen his cock, you’re always amazed about how thick and long he is.
Joel’s hand grabbed your hair bun into his fists, guiding you. When you were ready, you took all of him inside your mouth, your nose buried in his pubic hair. “Fuck, baby!” he growled as his cock hit the back of your throat. “God I love your mouth so much.”
You kept going for a moment until you felt his urge growing. Joel was basically facefucking you, thrusting his cock deep inside your mouth. But you weren’t done with him yet, so when only a trail of saliva was connecting you to his length, you took advantage and got back on your feet.
You passionately kissed him, allowing him to taste himself. “Sit on the chair.” You ordered him and Joel obeyed.
You striped in front of him as he was lazily stroking his painfully hard cock. “You’re fucking gorgeous, Y/N.” he said before you straddle his lap.
“So are you, Joel.” He almost didn’t catch that - maybe because a part of him didn’t want to - as you guided his cock into your wet cunt. He was stretching you open, it almost hurt but you kept going until he was fully inside you.
“So fucking tight.” he growled against your neck.
You settled for a slow pace at first. Joel’s face was buried in your chest, assaulting your rounded breasts. One of his hands was in the small of your back, following your hips movements. “You feel so good inside me.” you moaned, your hands buried in his hair. He was so deep inside you, you two almost could hear every time he reached your end. “I’ll never be able to be with anyone else but you.”
His urge was coming back and yours was building up. You quickened the pace, and Joel furiously rubbed your clit with his hand. “Yes Joel, right there!” he looked up at you and crashed his lips on yours. You could feel his fingers digging on your hip, while yours did the same on his scalp.
“I’m gonna cum.” he warned you, thrusting as fast as he could.
“Me, too. Don’t stop,”
“Never.”
It was a closed call but you came practically at the same time, both crying each other’s name.
You stayed in the same position as you and Joel came down from your high. You held him close against you, feeling his cock softening inside you. You were both panting. “Every part of me, huh?” he said.
“Every single one.”

Sunlight streamed in through the glass wall and on your face in a way that had you groaning and kicking the sheets, which in turn resulted in a muffled ‘ow’ being heard from somewhere down below.
The ruthless hammering inside your head became prominent and you knew it would only get worse if you opened your eyes. There was some shuffling and moving beside you, enough to mumble a curse word before peeking an eye open to locate the source.
A big lump of pristine white sheets and Tony’s bare legs poking out through the other end right next to your face. The need for rest hung heavy on your lids as the surroundings became clearer, still eluding the events from last night.
Apart from the sheets that were tangled around your body, you realised to your horror that you were sans clothing as well. There was popcorn littered on the nightstand along with some liquid splashed across the surface and confetti?
“Oh God…”
The movement caused Tony to pull your legs closer and rest his face on your feet. The pounding headache grew as you rest yourself on your elbows to take notice of the state of the bedroom you were in.
Clothes strewn about on the floor, your bra hanging off the open bedroom door proudly, empty champagne bottles and more confetti.
“Tony. Wake up!” You hissed, blinding tapping the lump of sheets that wouldn’t move. Another kick and he was up.
“Did you just kick my face? Ugh. What time is it?”
“Time to regret drinking a river that we did last night.”
Slowly unveiling his face from the sheets, Tony emerged looking as terrible as you imagined you were too. He rubbed a hand down his face before sitting up, his bare torso littered with your lipstick stains up for display, adding to your worries.
“Do you have your boxers on?” You asked, praying he did as you spotted your panties on the foot of the bed. Tony reached underneath the sheets to check, his expression revealing everything you needed to know as he gulped and shook his head.
“We couldn’t have had sex though, could we?”
“Given how badly I want to throw up and go back to sleep right now, I’m gonna say we were too hammered to do much else.”
Tony’s reassurance did nothing to pacify your panic as the cottonmouth you had screamed for water.
“I’m never gonna drink again.”
“Tony, you and I both know it’s a lie.”
“Do you remember what we did last night?”
“I think so? Couldn’t have been too bad.”
Little did you two know that all your worst fears were about to be revealed.
.
You shrugged on one of Tony’s old T-shirts and a pair of shorts you had stashed in his closet long back when you’d first started dating, rubbing your temples in circles as you waddled downstairs for sustenance.
Expecting it to be empty, you were surprised to find the team gathered around the living room, chatting animatedly before their heads turned in your direction watching the two of you enter the land of the living.
Spotting some food kept on the table you made your way over and plopped yourself on the couch with Tony yawning shamelessly following suit.
You downed the glass of orange juice in one go as Nat exchanged suspicious looks with Clint, Bruce looking uncomfortably between the two of you while Steve acted indifferent.
Tony reached for the cup of coffee before you slapped his hand away and handed him a fruit instead, mumbling something about how drinking coffee makes the hangover worse, causing the Russian assassin to chuckle.
“Okay what is it?” You asked, glaring at everyone.
“Are we going to talk about what you guys did last night?”
The Captain crossed his arms over his chest, displeasure prominent on his face.
That previously forgotten fear showed up again as you met Tony’s eyes, your expressions matching.
Just as you were about to answer, the God of Thunder burst in the room smiling at the two of you holding a vase containing massive long stemmed roses.
“Good morning! How is the happy couple?”
“What?”
You lost your appetite as memories from the night before came back to you in pieces. There had to have been Thor’s Asgardian liquor involved since you’d never had blackout incidents before this.
Your left hand housed a ‘ring’ fashioned out of copper wires, something you definitely knew was Tony’s doing.
“What did you do Tony?” You glared at the man who gulped as last night’s events flashed before his eyes.
“Honey I wasn’t the only one drinking yesterday.”
“Explain this!!” You flashed your hand in front of his face.
Bruce cleared his throat to interrupt the possible spat that was about to commence.
“Uh. Tony sent one of his suits to get a minister to marry you guys. And he wrote this on my hand.”
He rolled up the shirt sleeves to reveal what you hoped was a temporary tattoo that read, ‘Best Man Bruce Banner’.
You held your head in your hands, unable to face any of them while Tony tried his best but failed to hide a snigger.
“It’s not funny Tony.”
“Kinda is. Look, we can take care of it, don’t worry Banner.”
You stood up suddenly, making all heads turn your way, struggling to get the ring off of your finger.
“Wait why’re you removing it?” Tony followed you, leaving the group to stare after the two of you.
“Are you suggesting I keep this god awful thing? And this was an accident, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah it was. But what if we don’t get an annulment?”
Tony’s words made you stop in your tracks. The man didn’t seem to be joking as you faced him.
“What are you saying Tony?”
“I’m saying what if we stay married? It seems like we already had the ceremony.”
“No. Not a chance.”
You shook your head and began storming towards your room. Maybe it was the lack of sleep and headache making you this irritable and react the way you were, you wondered if the circumstances had been different your answer would change.
“But why? Do you not want to marry me?”
“Not like this I don’t! We were hammered.”
The ring finally came off which you threw in Tony’s general direction, not turning to see if he’d caught it.
“I’ll get you a proper ring (Y/N) come on!”
“Get me a proper wedding Stark!”
The others laughed as you slammed the door on Tony’s face before Steve removed his phone, scrolling through hundreds of pictures which he was forced to take capturing the world’s worst hangover.

Happy Birthday
It was 3 am, and Purpled wasn't able to sleep.
He was quietly sitting in his room, petting DogChamp while he was sleeping. Purpled eyes couldn't stop staring at the date showing in his communicator, a strange feeling slowly consuming him.
7th of July.
Purpled's birthday.
He sighed, deciding to do the same he did every year: get a small cupcake, place a match on it, and eat in the early morning. It wasn't a big deal, really.
He left his little tent, heading over towards the restaurant in Las Nevadas. It wasn't open for the public yet, but it was the only place they could have access to a proper kitchen. Purpled opened the Staff Only door, hearing the strange banging of pans and someone whispering swears. Probably another resident trying to have a night snack, Purpled couldn't blame them at all. He stepped in and stopped right away.
Well, he didn't expect to see Fundy in an apron, mixing something in a bowl and an immense mess around him.
"Uh… what are you doing here?" Fundy asked, immediately noticing Purpled's presence.
"What are you baking?" Purpled asked back, not wanting to answer.
"I asked first." Fundy replied, crossing his arms.
Purples sighed, no patience for that at the moment. "I just came here to eat something. Now, you go."
Fundy's ears twitched a little before pressing against his head. "I'm… baking a cake." He muttered, going back to mixing the ingredients.
Purpled, for a split of second, got happy with the info, but quickly dismissed it. No way it could be for him, just one person knew his birthday and Fundy certainly wasn't him.
Purpled noticed orange and green food coloring placed on the table, curiosity now flooding in. "So, did you just get a craving for cake in the middle of the night?" he played as a joke, going back to his search for a single cupcake.
"Nah, man… it's my birthday." Fundy replied, still talking in a low voice.
"No way!" Purpled said before he couldn't contain himself, getting himself into a mess as soon as Fundy stared at him, confusion all over his body language.
"What do you mean by 'no way'? It's not like being born on July 7th was a crime."
Purpled pondered his answers.
He could lie, say he didn't expect it, or that Fundy shouldn't bake the cake for his own birthday, or any shitty lie like that.
"It's my birthday too." It's what came out.
Fundy's eyes widened, then a smile appeared, to Purpled's surprise.
"Dude, that's neat!" Fundy said, now moving towards the cabinets in search for something. "Your favorite color is purple, right?" He stopped for a while, and then went back for the search. "Oh Void, that was a stupid question."
Purpled was still in place, watching as the fox picked a purple food coloring and went back to the cake making, adding more ingredients. "I just need to make more batter so we can have more cake, but it will be fine."
"Wait, wait… what are you doing?" Purpled approached Fundy, watching as he divided the dough into three different recipients. "Our birthday cake." He replied, pouring each food coloring into a different bowl and starting to mix.
"So… the colors represent us?" Purpled asked, just so he could be on the same page.
"Yep."
"Orange is you, purple is me."
"Yep."
"So, who is the green one?"
Fundy went silent for a while, and then opened a sad smile.
"Back before the revolution, when it was just us in a van… we didn't have so much money for food." Purpled didn't get the connection, so he kept waiting. "So, there couldn't be two cakes at my and Tubbo's birthday."
Fundy put each batter into a different cooking pan, putting one into the oven.
"So, Wilbur would bake a single cake, two layers, one orange, the other green." Fundy smiled a little, nostalgic. "It became a tradition, even after L'Manberg came to be."
He decided to use the other ovens in the kitchen, placing the other cooking pans.
"Each year, we had our birthday together, no matter what. Even if we were angry at each other, or we had to hide from the big bad dictator. One time, I had to enter his presidential office to force him to take his head out of the papers."
Purpled just listened in silence, quite in awe. Fundy was really someone that had lived through a lot, and somehow, still held on to little comforting traditions. It must be nice, having something like that.
"But… since L'Manberg has been gone…" Fundy sighed. "I kinda haven't celebrated my birthday. I decided to try this year." He laughed quietly. "And hey! This time I have you! It's not so pathetic."
Purpled chuckled, nodding along. "Well, it's the first time I celebrate my birthday with another person. It's not pathetic."
Fundy beamed, still in a good mood, and took the cakes out of the ovens. He waited for a little while, staring at Purpled, who just stared back. "Don't you think you are going to just watch. Come here and help me."
Purpled shrugged, taking a place right beside Fundy. They stacked one cake over the other, and started to decorate.
Minutes later, they had a somewhat pretty cake.
"It works." Fundy says, after thinking a little.
"It's the first time I decorate a cake, so it's beautiful."
"Eehh… At least it will taste good. It has chocolate." Fundy pointed out.
"Aren't foxes allergic to chocolate?"
"Irrelevant ."
They finished the icing and contemplated their creation before Fundy grabbed the plate, leaving the kitchen and hoping that Purpled would follow him, which he quickly did, even if he didn’t know where.
“If I ask where are you going, will you asnwer me?”
“I mean, it’s not only our birthday, is it?” Fundy contemplated as they passed the toll booth, making Purpled think a little. Yeah, it wasn’t only their birthday.
“Hey, so… Can I call someone else?” Purpled asked, communicator in hand already.
Fundy didn’t even finish saying yes and Purpled was already typing someone’s name into his contact info, waiting for just a few seconds until the other person answered his call.
“Punz? I need you to come over. Now.”
Meanwhile, Fundy was standing in front of a wall of lava. The heat was almost uncomfortable and was definitely unwelcoming. But Fundy had to come back home before Yogurt woke up, so he had a schedule to fill.
“Yo, Tubster!”
No replies.
“Cut the scene, I know you are there!”
Still no replies.
“I can literally see your shiny armor on top of the outpost, you idiot!”
Seconds of no answer, and then the lava started to go down. And so there he was, Tubbo Underscore, with the entire glory of someone who hasn’t slept in the last 2 days. Fundy knew that look pretty well.
“Why do you have a cake?”
Not a hello or good night. But Fundy was used to that.
“Do you know what day it is today?”
“Uuuuh…… Juuuuuunee..?”
Fundy waited to see if Tubbo was joking, all that was left it was silence.
“Tubbo…. That’s a month.”
“But it's the right month.”
“No, it’s not.”
“Are you sure of that, boss man?”
Fundy just stared, kinda worried for Tubbo, cake still in hands. “Today is July 7th.”
“Hm…”
They just stood there, Fundy being able to see the cogs turning in Tubbo’s head. Finally, it clicked. “Oh fuck! Today is July 7th!”
“Yes it is!”
“It’s our birthday!”
“Yeah!!!”
“Holy shit… I haven’t celebrated it since…”
Tubbo shut, eyes unfocused. Since L’Manberg was done. Since last time, at a tiny office with the height of presidential work on his shoulders.
“I know, I haven’t either.”
They faced each other again, and it was different now. It was a look that only them could have, suffering all of that. The cramped days at the van, L’Manberg, Schlatt, New L’Manberg. They could say something about it, some apologies, some “I missed it”, but they weren’t like that.
“I have a couple of cookies and regen potions at the back. Want me to get a couple of them for us two?” Tubbo smiled a little, trying to get back to their old routine.
“It's us three. There’s another birthday boy outside.”
“Wait, who?”
Purpled conveniently walked towards Fundy’s side, giving Tubbo a little wave. “Make it four, actually.” He showed the communicator. “I called Punz, also a ‘birthday boy’” He made quote marks in the air.
“Why do so many of us have the same birthday?” Fundy asked to no one in particular. Tubbo just shrugged, but Purpled had something to say about it.
“I mean, it’s not my actual birthday. I have no idea of when my birthday would be in this world.” He casually said, antennas slightly glowing in the night. “So, I just decided to snatch Punz’”
“Dude, I wish it was this easy to change birthdays.” Tubbo said, thinking. I’d change to something like…”
“4/20.”
“Fundy, you’re a genius”
“I know.”
Purpled smiled a little listening to them talking. It was comfortable, somehow, being part of something like that, even for one night. “I should have gone for 10/10” He added to the talk, taking out some blocks and starting to build a little desk for them to place the cake, outside of both Las Nevadas and the Cookie Outpost. Tubbo laughed, thinking about other funny birthdays while automatically helping. Fundy placed the cake on top of the desk, just staring.
“Wait. We have orange, purple and green. What’s Punz’ color?”
Purpled thought about it, but Tubbo already had a solution “The icing is white. He is white. Solved.”
“I’m what?”
Punz appeared out of nowhere, probably from an enderpearl. “You’re white, like the icing.” Tubbo explained.
“Also, you’re a birthday boy.” Fundy helped.
“There’s four of us” Purpled finalized.
Punz just stared at all four, letting out a sigh and taking off his armour. "Really, Purpled? I thought you were in trouble.”
“I’m never in trouble, you should be smarter than this.”
“You just… decided to throw a party?”
Purpled shaked his head, pointing towards Fundy. “It was his idea.”
Punz looked at the other two, they were arguing over the number of candles. Fundy wanted to put only four, Tubbo wanted to put as many as it could fit. For a moment, Punz could see two different people there, fighting over stupid shit as a third one just stared, amused. It was so familiar, but so different. It hurt.
“But hey, you don’t have to stay if you doesn’t wa-”
“Get me a chair, it’s free food.”
Purpled smiled, a real one for once, and gave him a chair.
The four of them sat on the table, Fundy being the one to stood up after finally settling with a normal amount of candles on the cake.
“Ok, now we sing.”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“We ain’t singing, bossman”
“It’s sad if it's for ourselves.”
“It’s not??”
Purpled saw this banter would drag until sunrise, so he picked a bottle, catching everyone's attention.
“Lets keep it simple, boys. Happy Birthday to us.”
Punz gave him a small smile back, grabbing a potion for himself. “We made it through another year, what a win.”
Tubbo laughed to himself, joining the toast. “Still one life left, gotta keep like that until next year.”
Fundy was the last one, a grateful smile on his face. “Glad we have each other this time.”
“If the cake is good, I will come to next year’s party.”
“So it was nice meeting you, Punz.” Tubbo joked, making the rest of the table laugh a little.
And there they stayed until the sunrise slowly appeared in the distance, bathing them in a golden, lazy light.
“Damn, this was fun.”
“Not the best cake, but I’ll come back.”
“Fuck off.”
Tubbo was asleep on the table, finally able to relax. Fundy poked him, with no reaction.
“I can carry him inside, don’t worry.” Punz guaranteed, getting up.
“Thanks man, I have to go before my kid wakes up.” Fundy smiled, getting the empty cake plate.
“You have a kid?”
“Yeah, his name is Yogurt and that gremlin needs to be kept on a leash.” Purpled interrupted, earning a weak slap from Fundy. “Shut up, my kid is not a gremlin, he has just a lot of energy.”
Punz laughed, picking up Tubbo like a sack of potatoes, still with no response. “Thanks for the party, guys.”
Fundy smiled back, waving. “Happy birthday, Punz.”
“Happy birthday, boys.”
And they walked in opposite paths.

pairing: swimming captain! Y/N x rival swimming captain! Yunho genre: enemies-to-lovers (kinda?), suggestive, bad humour word count: 3.5k warning: first time writing something spicy and probably badly written, make-out session, fem!reader, swearing, lots of kissing and touching A/N: please be tolerant, it’s my first time writing something spicy. I hope I did good, I’m open to any constructive criticism 😊 feedback is appreciated :))
You woke up early this morning, ready to go to the swimming pool to practice. The sun wasn’t even up yet, and the dawn sent chills down your spine as the wind blew relentlessly. You grabbed your swimming bag and walked out of the door, zipping up your jacket to your chin and quickly walked to the swimming pool. It was only a few minutes away from your house, it was your only way to go there since the buses weren't operational yet.
When you arrived there, you quickly put on your swimsuit and tidied your stuff in your claimed locker, an essential element since you were a member of the swimming team. As you walked through the door that linked the changing room to the pools, you heard screams and water splashes. You frowned and blinked, the sleepiness remaining in your eyes made your vision slightly blurry. You had forgotten that today, your college was racing against one of the neighbouring towns. And the swimmers were already there, intensely practising as if it was the middle of the day.
You were confused and tired but you put on your cap and goggles anyway. Some swimmers looked down on you, but you couldn’t care less as you lowered yourself in the pool, rolling your eyes to oblivion. You were about to start swimming when someone jumped in the water next to you, giving you a taste of the cold water and the chlorine so early in the morning. You grimaced and sighed, wiping your mouth and shook your head as you recognised the figure emerging from the water.
Jeong Yunho, the captain of the rival swimming team. Your greatest enemy.
“Look who we got here, it’s our lovely captain Y/N,” he said with a mischievous smile. “Training hard?” Even if his words sounded kind, they weren’t. Everything coming out from his mouth had no intention to be nice towards you. You huffed and shook your head, again, sinking in the water and started to swim, slamming your feet against the water, purposefully splashing water on the young man's face.
You let out your frustration while doing your laps, never stopping. You didn’t want to give satisfaction to the rival team to nag you when you rested, degrading you and calling you names. You swam until the chlorine became your new fragrance, the chemical smell invading your nostrils and already drying your skin and scalp. When you allowed yourself to stop and grab your water bottle, you noticed that most of the college students were gone. You checked your wrist and noticed your locker key still hung to it, relieved that none of them will manage to go through your stuff. Sadly, it happened before. You were naive at that time, carelessly leaving your keys lying around. It became a mess to try and get all your stuff back when you found your locker empty, forcing you to walk home barefoot. One of your classmates, Seonghwa, was kind enough to lend you his jacket to cover your swimsuit to go home.
You were breathing deeply, and your thoughts were running in your mind as you blankly stared at the other end of the pool. Checking your pulse out of curiosity, you fixed the clock on the wall with a look and estimated your pulse. It was above average since you had swum so much without taking a break and you cracked your shoulders muscles as you made eye contact with a tall boy, who was fooling at the other end of the pool with his friends.
Still that damn captain, you thought. Your relationship with him was quite interesting, to say the least. You hated each other, you wished you could rip his cocky smile off his face and throw him in the pool. Everyone could see that you weren't the bestest friends, which was understandable since you were rival captains, but there was a sort of attraction between you two at the same time. Yunho seemed to take pleasure and entertainment in teasing you, always laughing as you tried to not take his jokes seriously, pushing him away or “accidentally” making him trip on your foot. You couldn’t resist his small remarks, always snapping back at him on every occasion, sometimes even creating a conflict between you two. Yunho was a proud boy, he always talked back, never letting you hurt his pride as much as you let him hurt yours. You had other worries to deal with, but deep down, you still felt hurt every time he and his friends teased or made snarky comments about you and your team.
He was standing at the other side of the pool with his friends, who were laughing and pushing each other, sometimes close to falling into the water. “What do they feed him to be this energetic at 4 am?” you mumbled to yourself as you deeply exhaled and swam again. Yunho stopped laughing as his classmates were starting to leave, keeping their energy for this afternoon’s competition. He heard the water moving from the third lane, a slim silhouette cutting through the water with long and muscular limbs.
He observed you moving like a dolphin and closed his eyes as you did a U-turn underwater to start a new lap, splashing water on him and his friends. They started to leave one by one, each going to shower before going back to sleep for a while. Yunho was the only one who stayed behind, still mesmerised by the way you swam. He was always goofing and joking around, but you were a water goddess in his eyes. He silently walked towards the side of the pool where you were massaging your foot, your body curled into a ball, entirely underwater. You reappeared at the surface with a grimace drawn on your face, still holding your cramping foot.
“Yunho, I’m really not in the mood for your fucking lame remarks,” you spat as you noticed a smirk on his face. It suddenly vanished when he heard the pain in your voice, jumping in the water next to you. “Give me your foot,” he ordered but you didn’t move. You rested yourself on the pool wall and stared at him, clutching your foot in pain. “Why?” you glared, suspicious of his ulterior motives. “Come on,” he said, looking at you, “I’m not going to snap your leg in half if that’s what you’re scared of.” "You could," your eyes squinted as you directly stared at him, "I don’t think you’d be unhappy to see me in clutches while you win all the local championships," you reluctantly extended your foot underwater, which he caught with ease and started applying pressure on the sole of your foot with the palm of his hand. A sharp pain shot through your muscles, making you hiss, but it started to fade as Yunho kept the pressure on your sole. After a few minutes in absolute silence, the pain disappeared.
"T-thank you," you grudgingly said to the man standing in front of you, retreating your leg from his grip. He smiled as he swiftly shook his hair to remove excess water from it. "You’re welcome," he shot a wink as you felt your heart skip a beat. Your self-control was fine so far, but it was now all over the place as the tall swimmer was near you. “You know,” he said, coming closer to you, trapping you between him and the swimming lane, “I like to tease you and annoy the crap out of you, it's really funny, but I will never, ever, try and purposely hurt you.” His voice was serious, and you had a better vision of droplets of water running down his muscular torso, which was a huge distraction of the conversation you were having. His lips were chapped and pinkish, contrasting with the paleness of his skin.
“You never know what people are ready to do when they want to win. I speak in full knowledge of the facts and you surely know it,” you stretched your arms in front of you to cool your muscles down as you completed your workout. “Oh really?” Yunho said, raising an interrogative eyebrow at your remark. “Yes," you rolled your eyes and stared at him, "I’m talking about your teammates during our first year. They ripped and my cap and goggles right before the race. I’m still mad that no one got in trouble for that.” You whispered your last sentence as you hauled yourself out of the pool, walking to the red plastic chair, your towel resting on top of it. You plunged your face in it, letting go of a big breath as you felt the tiredness of early morning and your workout kick in. “You know that I can’t do anything about it,” Yunho followed you, wiping the water running down his nose.
”Oh yeah, you might be surprised but there was and still is something you can do,” you looked up from your towel and stared at him straight in the eyes, “you could actually behave like a captain and treat me like one too, instead of the constant teasing you make me go through whenever we see each other. I can see that you like it, but I don't,” Yunho wants to interfere but you rose you pointing finger, “no, let me finish. I know you enjoy teasing me, it's annoying to see your fucking smile on your face when you laugh at me, and since we see each other pretty regularly, my team never takes me seriously. I can’t be taken seriously when I’m the captain and supposed to help them and give pieces of advice.” You stopped ranting, not knowing where you wanted this conversation to go. “Just keep your nasty remarks and teasing for someone else, someone who’s willing to go through the bullshit and teasing you make me go through every time we see each other. There’s no need to act like you are the king of the pool, everyone has eyes for you, even my mates and my teachers. It’s frustrating, sometimes even infuriating. So you either you leave me alone, or I quit, so you'll actually have the entire pool for yourself.”
You walked to the changing room without another word, even if you heard Yunho calling your name, jogging behind you.
“I’m sorry,” he said, gently catching your wrist to stop you, placing himself in front of the door as you sighed but didn’t push him away. “I never meant to hurt you, really. I never thought that it would hurt you that much, or that you would take anything seriously. I just thought that since we were captains, we could tease each other for fun. I've always done that with other captains when I was in high school and at the beginning of college too, but I should have noticed that it hurt you.” You were a bit suspicious at first, but when you saw his guilty yet serious expression, your features softened. He stepped closer, keeping the eye contact with you as a smile appeared on his face.
“I’ll stop teasing you, you have my word.” He declared as something in his eyes changed, but you couldn’t describe what it was. Even if you hated to admit it, Yunho was a handsome guy, girls swooning over his personality and muscular body when he was messing around the pool. You were quite oblivious of what was currently happening, but the situation wasn’t unpleasant. His hands linked behind his muscular back, he neared your face with his, his lips hovering above yours. “But now,” his voice was an octave lower, making you shiver, “what do you think our teams would say if they saw their captain kiss?” Your eyes widened at his words, never imagining that he was this kind of feeling for you. His hands left his back and landed on the damp skin of your waist, feeling surprisingly warm against your cold skin.
"Are you out of your mind?" you asked as he pushed you backwards, your shoulders coming in contact with the cold swinging door, making you stumble in the girls changing room. You were at a loss of words, too surprised by the current situation to make a single sound. “Hm, Y/N? What do you think?” Yunho repeated as your answer didn't satisfy him. “I just think that you shouldn’t be in the girls changing room,” you finally answered, earning a smirk from him. You couldn’t resist the intensity of his eyes, so you looked away, but Yunho didn't appreciate that. He grabbed your chin and forced you to look at him a few seconds in the eyes before lunging forwards and locking his lips with yours in a swift motion. He grunted as you pressed your hands on his abs, your tired muscles slightly giving in at the sudden new feeling. His arms landed on your waist as you pulled on the hair at the back of his head, earning a grunt from him. Feeling that you were kissing him back, Yunho didn't hesitate and took your response as the green light to let his hands explore your body.
The kiss was getting more and more intense and heated as minutes passed by. You were too caught up in the moment to care if someone walked in, too busy to make your mouths move in sync. Who comes to swim so early in the morning anyway?
You circled your arms around his neck as he hugged you even closer, the sheer fabric of your bathing suits being the only restrictions between your bodies. Yunho pushed you backwards, again, your back slowly colliding with the wall of a shower cubicle. He locked the door behind him after pulling you in it, trapping you in his arms as your mouths danced again together. Hands in his hair, sometimes pulling on it, you managed to earn a few other grunts from him.
Droplets of water fell on your faces as some entered your mouths, the taste of chlorine adding fuel to the already steamy exchange. You suddenly felt hotter when Yunho’s hands went from your waist to your ass, pushing up the fabric to get full access to your skin. Softly grasping the flesh before slapping your butt cheeks, you felt him smirk against your lips as you moaned loudly. His tongue took advantage of your slightly opened mouth to enter it, slowly dancing with your tongue, looking like they were shaped for each other.
Yunho broke the kiss and didn’t let you time to breathe as he was already attacking your jaw, slowly leaving a trail of kisses down to your neck and collarbones. You had made out in the past with your exes, but none of them made you feel as good as Yunho did. His hands and mouth were exploring your body, a sensation that you had never felt before. It was a very new sensation and your stomach did flips as his lips connected with the soft skin under your ear, tongue twirling on your shivering skin, his action increasing your arousal. You let out a moan as you caressed the nape of his neck, drawing him as close to you as possible. His kisses were addicting, you felt like a junkie who hasn’t had their drug in years, eyes rolling at the back of your head as goosebumps took over your body. It felt so good that you wanted to let the entire world know how good he was making you feel.
“Y-Yunho,” you whispered as you tried to get his mouth away from your skin, suddenly snapping back to reality, “we race this afternoon, I compete with a purple neck.” Yunho’s mouth came back up and kissed you on the lips to prevent you from further complaining. “I don’t care,” he grunted, drawing you closer by your neck, “I want to show everyone that you’re active. I want to show every single student there that you’re mine and mine only.” Gosh, he could be so competitive and greedy sometimes, you could only give in when he assaulted your neck, again. Your worries vanished, getting replaced by waves of pleasure flooding your veins.
The captain felt you shiver under his touch and he smirked, dragging you in the middle of the shower stall and turned on the water, the tap on the warm side. The water hitting your skin made you tremble even more, but it was a different kind of shiver. Throwing your head back, you gave Yunho more access to your neck and moaned his name as he found your soft spot, right under your ear. He turned you around, pressing you against the wall. His hands travelled the sides of your body up to your arms as he kissed your shoulder blades, teeth grazing on the skin. Spinning around to face him, you held on his shoulders for your dear life as he passionately kissed you again, his lips being your new obsession. They needed to be against yours to make you feel satisfied.
But you had enough, it was your turn to feel him up and explore his body. Your hands travelled down his torso, touching his strong abs and his happy trail, going dangerously south as he groaned at the pleasant feeling. He stopped kissing you, making you open your eyes, only to find him hungrily looking at you, biting his lower lip in the process.
"You're so fucking hot," he whispered, and you stared at him, smirking as your eyes filled with lust. As you were about to caress him further, you heard voices behind the main door, and you recognised your friends' voices. You both immediately froze, and Yunho turned the water off as quickly as he could. You jumped in his arms, and he hugged you close to his body with one arm wrapped around your figure, the other pushing the hair away from your face. He then pressed his forefinger against your lips, signalling you to stay quiet, only to have you opening your mouth and sucking on it.  His eyes widened and darkened, surprised by your actions. He mouthed you to stay quiet, and you nodded, still sucking on his digit as you stared at him. It was so explicit and eager of you, but you felt a rush of adrenaline in your body, scared but also yearning to get caught.
While your friends were taking their sweet time to get ready to swim, you were both shivering in the shower stall, breaths shallow and quick, hoping not to get caught in the middle of your heated make-out session. You could feel that Yunho was starting to get bored as your friends laughed at some dumb jokes they made, and you didn’t like the look he had in his eyes, unwrapping your mouth of his finger.
You knew what he had in mind, and you rapidly shook your head, silently pleading him to stay still. What a bad idea of teasing him, you knew he could be spiteful sometimes. He smirked and sank his head in your collarbone, dangerously going south as he landed right above your chest, sucking on the sensitive skin. Yunho heard you squirm as one girl closed her locker, his hand kneading the skin of your ass. He had to resist the urge of slapping the jiggling flesh, feeling so soft against his palm. You clenched your teeth to prevent you from making a single noise, pursing your lips as you heard two girls walking towards the pool, letting out a long sigh as soon as they closed the door.
“I hope no one comes in and interrupts us next time,” Yunho nonchalantly said as he opened the cubicle door. You almost choked on air at his words, slapping his shoulder. “Because you think there’ll be another time?” You almost yelled but quickly caught yourself and lowered your voice. “What do you think we’re going to do when we’ll finish first from our respective category? Did you really think I was done with you? You’re just lucky that I’m tired, otherwise we would still be in that cubicle,” He winked and quickly pecked your lips before you could hit him again.
“I hate you,” you scoffed as you took your showering products and went back to the cubicle. “If you say so, darling,” Yunho mumbled with a smile, knowing that it wasn’t the case. You couldn’t hate him after all of this, rather the contrary. But it was just your way of protecting yourself. “I’ll treat you like a princess if you get a good result.” "And if I finish first?” You teased, closing and locking the door. ”I’ll treat you like the queen you are and make you taste a bit of paradise,” he stated as if it was the most normal thing to say and he left the girl changing room, making his way towards the changing rooms where he was supposed to be since he finished swimming.

Your eyes were heavy and you shuffled into the cushion, adjusting your position on the couch until you felt more comfortable. You grazed your fingers against the pages of your book, but found yourself re-reading the same sentence over and over again in attempt to keep yourself awake. Even your two scented candles were close to burning out, and you figured it was time for bed.
Gently dropping the book on the floor, you closed your eyes and felt yourself drift off into a dreamy sleep when a loud bang on your door woke you up with a jolt. Your heart was pounding as you bolted upright, clutching the thin wooled blanket that was lazily draped around your body in fear. Within seconds, you heard another bang on the door. Rubbing your eyes, you flicked on your phone and checked the time. 11-48pm. Almost midnight. You groaned, standing up and padding to the front door of your apartment. Who could possibly want to see you at this hour? You wondered. Not even bothering to check through the peephole, you let out an elongated groan.
“Who is it?” You called out and rubbed your tired eyes. You ran your fingers through your hair in hope that you would look somewhat presentable for when you greeted your uninvited visitor.
Without hesitation you heard him. A voice you were so familiar with. “It’s Frankie, man! You gotta let me in!” you noted that his voice sounded urged and your stomach filled with concern. Was he alright? Why was he at your apartment at 11-48pm? A million thoughts raced through your mind in just the second it took you to open the door. The thought of Frankie being here made you nervous, but excited. In a fluster, you stumbled with the door lock before finally managing to get it open.
There he was. His dark brown waves were tucked into one of his infamous baseball caps and he was wearing a dark green flannel and a washed out pair of denim jeans. You tried to search for answers in his face, but he truly seemed fine, other than the slight panic in his voice. He slid past you, allowing himself into your apartment and began pacing around.
“Would you like a drink?” You asked, almost rhetorically. Frankie didn’t answer, nor did he need to. You were already clicking open the bottle of ice cold Bud and handing it over to him. He took a big sip out of the alcoholic beverage, and you took the liberty of admiring him as he done so. He wasn’t watching you anyway, but instead focusing on downing the drink. That's what he needed. A drink to wash away his worries. How could he ever explain this to you?
You loved the way his chocolate brown eyes shone under the candlelight and the way his skin looked almost soft and golden. You waited patiently for him to finish drinking, never wanting to hurry him.
Frankie appreciated the atmosphere of your apartment too. He always had. It made a change from his current living situation. Frankie wasn’t picky as such, but living with his four best guy friends definitely had its downfalls. Whether that be Ben constantly hogging the living room television to play his Call of Duty video games, or Santiago bringing home a different lady every other night, making such noise that nobody but Will could sleep, or even Tom with his untidy behaviour and complete disregard for everyone else who lived with him. It wasn't great but what other choice did Frankie have? Other than you. You didn’t feel like a choice to him, you felt like a necessity. He needed you. You were his safe place, and your chic apartment felt more like home than his shabby downtown place.
“I gotta ask you a favour.” Frankie prompted eventually, sliding down into the cream faux-leather sofa and placing his bottle of beer on the coffee table. You took a seat in the chair opposite him and folded your arms, waiting for him to continue. “Actually, I don’t know. Never mind. Uhm… it’s a funny story to be honest. But, maybe it’s fine. It’s not fine. It’s just, well-”
“Spit it out Frankie!” You giggled jokingly, reaching over and nudging him slightly. He was immediately put at ease by just the simplest brush of your fingers, and yet he couldn’t bring himself to make eye contact with you. He found himself staring into the burning flame of your cinnamon scented candle. He felt mildly ashamed about how this whole situation had even surfaced in the first place.
“Me and Santi… we had a bet. A dare kinda thing.” Frankie explained, shuffling around with discomfort. He was definitely embarrassed that he had driven himself all the way to your apartment in the dead of night just to tell you this— or rather, ask you this. “The guys were teasing, you know how they are. About how- well, you know, I’ve never really been with a girl since…” Frankie paused.
“Marià.” You sighed, and Frankie nodded slowly. “Your ex wife…”
“Yeah. And I know it’s crazy but after the divorce and everything… I just haven’t really uh, had the opportunity. I mean I’ve had the opportunity it’s just- never felt right. I suppose. And you know, it’s not that I don’t want to start dating again. Or seeing women. Sleeping with wo-” Frankie was about to start rambling about his sex life (or lack there of) and you were not prepared to let your mind journey there. Not that you had never thought about it before… no. He was your best friend. And it would be wrong. Besides, Frankie had a tendency to over share but you were always there to help him get back on track, whereas others, namely the guys, would tease and mock him for it.
“Why are you here, Frankie?” You cut him off with as much delicacy as you could muster up. Your voice was soft, and Frankie noticed how gentle you had always been with him.
“Santi said he bet I couldn’t ask a girl out if I tried,” Frankie explained with a short sigh and you frowned. You knew Santiago well and you knew that he and Frankie were like brothers, but Frankie had been through a lot lately and Santiago never really had the best choice of words. You wondered if he had hurt Frankie, and instantly felt defensive over your friend.
“And then what happened?”
“I told Santi I could get a girl, and then, this afternoon, he asked me how I had come on. I lied, told him I asked out a pretty girl. He asked me about her and well, the girl I described… I guess… in my head I was just picturing you.” Frankie said, and finally glanced up at you, his pretty eyes shimmering in the dim light. You felt your heart rate increase at his revelation. “You know? It’s funny. This made up girl looks just like you.” He chuckled lightly. Your silence was deafening and his stomach filled with anxiety. “I don’t know why!” he assured but that was a lie. He knew why. He was your first thought at the start of the day you were his last thought at the end of the day. Every moment he got, he was thinking about you— pining over you.
“Oh,” you whispered, unable to process any more words. You weren’t sure what to make of it. You brushed away your feelings, thinking that you only came to Frankie’s mind because you saw him so much. You were the only girl he really hung out with.
“Of course Santi didn’t believe me. I’m a terrible liar. You know that. But I really don’t want the guys to catch me out on this! It’s so embarrassing.” Frankie was exasperated. You took to your feet and walked over to him, falling back on the sofa and resting your hand on Frankie’s forearm. To Frankie, your touch was like electricity.
“You do not need to be ashamed of something like this Frankie,” you assured him. Frankie took off his cap and ran his fingers through his brown locks.
“I know I know,” he sighed before looking back at you. “Santi wants to meet this fake girl. He’s been seeing Yovanna again and he’s organised a double date kind of thing. For him, Yo, myself and well… I'm hoping, you.”
You blinked hard. “Wait,” you paused. “You want to go on a date with me?”
This had to be dream. Had you just fallen asleep on the sofa? You pinched yourself and checked the wall clock above the television. Only a few minutes had ticked by. Definitely not a dream.
“Fake date.” Frankie corrected and you felt your heart sink slightly.
Or maybe it was a nightmare.
You shuffled around, not knowing how to feel. “Uhm, Frankie… I’m not sure…” you hesitated. All you had wanted for so long was to go on a date with Frankie. A real date. You had been dreaming about the day he would ask you out since you first met him, but this wasn’t what you had pictured at all.
“Please,” Frankie begged, clasping his hands together in a pleaing manner. “Just pretend to be my date.”
And how could you ever say no to Frankie Morales’ puppy dog eyes?
The night of the date, you and Frankie had agreed to meet at the restaurant. You hadn’t really discussed anything prior, but this date, albeit fake, was all you could think about. Every chance you had, you were thinking about Frankie. You wondered how it would be, pretending to be his date. And equally, Frankie was thinking the same.
He struggled to catch any sleep, and instead would lay in his bed staring at the ceiling. He wondered how to fake a date. He didn’t want to do anything to make you uncomfortable and he simply hadn’t dated anyone in so long. He was so sure that he would embarrass himself, and that you’d never want to talk to him again.
Frankie, Santiago and Yovanna were already sitting around the restaurant table before you arrived. It was a quaint little Italian place on the coast and it had the most beautiful evening view. The sky was darkening and there wasn't a cloud in sight, but instead, pearly white stars pierced the velveteen abyss above and it looked like something straight out of a romance movie. The environment was perfect. The place was slightly out of the usual burger joint budget for Frankie and Santiago, but Yovanna insisted on the high-end restaurant, and even Frankie had to admit it would be nice to eat some good quality food for a change.
You weren’t late, but rather Frankie, Santiago and Yovanna were early. Frankie had already downed three bottles of beer before you arrived, trying to wash away his nerves. By the time you came, he was already slightly intoxicated. His ease was all that mattered and besides, Frankie was a happy drunk.
When Frankie saw you enter the restaurant, it was like his whole world stopped. He always thought you were beautiful, but tonight he was looking at you in a whole different light. You weren’t in your usual sweats and hoodie, and truthfully he had never seen you like this before. Your little black dress hugged your body in all the right places, and your matching heels clicked against the marble floor as you padded over to the table. You felt a blush creep upon your cheeks when you caught Santi gawking.
“Whoa, you clean up well!” Santiago complimented, looking you up and down, grinning ecstatically.
Frankie tried to keep his cool, but he couldn’t take his eyes off you. He took in your bare legs and how fine they looked in your dress, and he admired the way you had styled your hair. It was out of your face, and he appreciated that, because now he could infatuate himself over your features. You wore minimal makeup, but your eyeshadow accentuated your eye colour and your choice of lip gloss plumped your lips slightly. Frankie’s eyes went from being drawn to your legs, to now your lips, and he cursed himself for the thoughts he was thinking. Fake date. He reminded himself; but he couldn't help but question— what if it was real? If he could, he’d take you in his arms right then and there and kiss you.
You took your seat next to Yovanna and opposite Frankie, trying to remain as nonchalant as possible, but as you felt Frankie’s eyes burn into you, electricity sparked in your in your lower stomach. A certain kind of excitement. You pushed it away the best you could, focusing on reading the menu in front of you and deciding on the food you would order. Frankie pushed over a vibrant purple drink in a cocktail glass. “I got you your favourite,” Frankie smiled, and you felt your heart flutter. “I hope you don’t mind.”
You smiled and took a sip, but scrunched up your nose when the strong taste of vodka hit. “Um, sweetie,” You thought that tonight you would have to force out the pet names but it came so naturally. “How many shots are in here?”
“It’s a treble.” Frankie bit his lip, watching you with intent as you took another sip. His heart blossomed at the little name you called him.
“Are you trying to get me drunk?!” you gasped playfully and Frankie offered you another warm smile. “I don’t mind. Actually, I need it. Had a bad day at work.” you explained.
“It was Santi’s idea.” he admitted and Santiago innocently raised his hands in response. Frankie reached over the table, taking your hands in his and brushing his thumbs over your knuckles. You felt a shiver run down your spine at his touch. “Bad day?” he furrowed his eyebrows together, concern peaking in his gentle voice.
“Talk about it later.” you promised. Frankie brought your hands to his lips and kissed them softly. You had to stop yourself from swooning on the spot. Your heart began to pick up speed again and at this point, you were finding it difficult to remember that this was all fake.
As the four of you ate your food, you and Frankie were flirting all night; playing footsie under the table and exchanging dirty jokes. At one point, you accidentally ran your heel up his leg and he let out an accidental groan, fillet mignon almost spilling out his mouth. You hurled with laughter and his cheeks rosied up in embarrassment. Both you and Frankie were enjoying yourself way more than you had ever even considered.
“Wait,” you spluttered out in a fluster of giggles. You were still laughing at one of Frankie’s jokes. “Yovanna and Santi have gone home.” You noticed, pointing your finger at the empty seats next to yourself and Frankie.
“Oh yeah,” Frankie replied. “And we didn’t even notice.” He burst into laughter again and you followed, the alcohol really letting you both lose your inhibitions. “That bastard left me with his and Yovanna’s bill too.” Frankie shook his head in disbelief.
“Let me help you pay,” you unzipped your purse but Frankie put his hand out and stopped you.
“Don’t worry baby, this is on me.” Frankie promised and offered you a cheeky wink.
Santiago and Yovanna were gone. They had no one to prove their fake date to— and yet, exchanging flirtatious comments were simply too fun to stop.
“Okay,” you laughed, taking a gulp of red wine. You were sure the warm liquid must have stained your lips crimson with how much you had drunk, but you weren’t too concerned. “But next time, I’m paying.”
“There’s going to be a next time?" Frankie asked you hopefully.
“Isn’t there?” you returned a smile. “This was the best fake date I’ve ever been on.” You and Frankie let out a boisterous laugh, even catching the attention of other couples who were sitting around you trying to enjoy their romantic candlelit dinners.
“Touché,” he agreed, taking out his wallet and signing a check before clipping it to the bill and standing up. He took your hand, pulling you forward but you stumbled to your feet, falling into his chest. He was so broad and his arms were so big. Your feelings for him picked up a notch and you were unsure how long you could keep up the charade of pretending you saw him as just a friend.
You thought about how strong he was, barely flinching when you fell into him, and honestly, it turned you on. He slung his hands around your waist, slowly pushing you off his, but even when you weren’t resting on him anymore, he kept his big hands around you as you left the restaurant and walked through the parking lot to Frankie’s truck. You were grateful because without him guiding you and steadying you, you’d probably struggle to even reach the truck.
The close proximity between you and him made Frankie overwhelmed, his palms getting clammy and his cock hardening from your scent alone. Everything felt so intense. The cool night air took his breath away and he loved the way he could feel the shape of your body through your dress. He craved more.
He hoped that in the darkness of the night, you hadn’t noticed his throbbing length under his jeans. He slid into the driver seat of the car and you sat next to him, strapping yourself in. Frankie turned the key and as you set off, you both sat there in silence. Silence around Frankie was never uncomfortable, but this wasn’t a situation you were used to. It was a big difference to the environment in the bustling restaurant, but now it was just you two, alone, in his car— and you could cut the sexual tension with a knife.
“Come home with me.” You said eventually, not moving an inch and still looking at the road ahead. You managed to find the confidence, but you weren’t yet able to bring yourself to look him in the eye. He was your best friend. And you realised that what you were asking of him was a lot.
Frankie wasn’t put off, in fact, he felt his cock twitch at your words and he had to suppress a moan from escaping his lips. Did you really want him to take you home? As if on cue, you continued your proposal.
“Stay the night.” This verified Frankie’s thoughts and you hoped he had got the hint. You looked up into the rear view mirror and watched Frankie as he concentrated on driving, his body completely tensed up. He didn’t say a word, but when he detoured, you knew he was taking you back to your apartment. You wanted to calm him. Relax him. Soothe him. You let your fingers grace his jean clad leg, accidentally brushing over his erection. Frankie cursed under his breath. “S-sorry.” you mumbled, feeling your face flush. He was already hard. You crossed your legs tight together, trying to ignore the way your cunt was already dripping for him.
“No,” Frankie said. “Was good. Felt good.” his grip on the steering wheel tightened as you contemplated his words. He liked it. You moved your hand over his crotch again and began to palm him as he drove. He felt so constricted in his jeans and he couldn’t wait to get them off. It wasn’t long before his vision began to feel hazy under your touch but luckily he soon pulled up in front of your apartment. You removed your hand from his leg and let yourself out of the truck, feeling dazed also, and hurried inside. Frankie followed, loosing his belt as he stepped foot into the building. He was throbbing and in such desperate need of relief.
You pressed the button and waited for the elevator to come. By the time Frankie caught up with you, it was here, and the pair of you stepped inside. As the doors began to close on you, Frankie crashed his lips onto yours, pushing his body against you. This time it was his turn to touch you. His rough manner made you gasp but you needed to feel his body against yours. You let his hands explore you, his fingers rolling over the curves of your breasts and the dips in your waist. Within seconds, the elevator door opened with a ping and you had reached the floor of your apartment. Hungrily, you grabbed Frankie by the collar of his shirt and dragged him to your front door, unlocking it with haste. Once you were inside, you turned to shut the door behind you when Frankie pinned you against it. His hands were on your wrists and your arms were spread out over the wood. He pressed a kiss into your jaw. “You want this?” his voice was rough and barely above a whisper, and his manner made your knees weak. He was so close to you, you could smell the beer mixed with his fragrance.
You didn’t dare move, but instead mewled out a tiny “yes”. Frankie smirked and turned you around so he could look at you in the eyes. He still had a hold of you, his grip was as tight as vice and his eyes were no longer the usual shade of honeyed brown but instead were much darker and lustful with a predatory glint. He kissed you again, hard, and his tongue swiped along your lower lip, begging for entry which you quickly granted. It was easy to get lost in the kiss; he was so good and so passionate. He worked his hands all over your body, pulling the occasional moan from your lips. Hearing the noises you made felt like music to his ears. You felt his hardened manhood press against the inside of your thigh and you shuddered, breaking the kiss to regain your breath. “Bedroom.” you mumbled out. You took Frankie’s hand and dragged him through the living room and into your small bedroom. He sat himself down on the edge of your bed and began to kick off his shoes when you took him by surprise and straddled him, wrapping your legs around him and initiating another heated kiss.
You needed some kind of release and on impulse, you began to grind yourself over Frankie’s denim clad leg. Your heart was racing as you rubbed yourself over the material, a fire burning deep in your stomach at the friction between the jeans and the thin silk panties you were sporting. Frankie placed a soft kiss to your lips, along your jaw, and down your neck as you began to get yourself off on him. He bit down gently, leaving his mark, wanting to claim you as his own. “Mine.” His voice was dark and you grabbed his shoulders, grinding on his leg harder.
“Yours.” You shakily exhaled, trying to keep your composure. You shuffled forward, further onto him and started rubbing yourself over his erection, pulling a groan from his lips, and you couldn’t help but smile knowing that this was your doing. You kept at it, enjoying the control, and watched Frankie’s eyes close from the sensation as you grinded over him.
“Yeah baby that’s it,” he praised. “Take what you need.”
Those four words threw you over the edge. You reached up, letting your fingers tangle in Frankie’s chocolate coloured locks of hair, tugging at them as you rode out your high. He opened his eyes, watching you as you dropped your head back, seeing stars. You were truly the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Feeling satisfied, you scrambled off him, your legs shaky and he grabbed the hem of your dress. He began to pull it off you as eagerly as he could. Frankie noticed the damp patch on his leg from your wetness and muttered another curse. You were so wet and it was all for him. He looked up at you, watching you kick your dress to one side and felt his jaw tick. He was mesmerised by your body. In only your panties, you straddled him once more, and Frankie let his hands roam over your breasts, giving them the occasional squeeze.
“My turn.” you told him, pulling his shirt over his head and pushing him into the blankets of your bed. He let out a soft groan as his head hit your pillow and you shuffled backwards a little. You unbuttoned his jeans and unzipped them before pulling them down to his ankles. Frankie kicked them off and they pooled into a pile amongst his shirt and your dress at the bottom of the bed. A little gasp escaped your lips when you eyed up his hardened length under the thin cloth of his boxer shorts, a small patch of wetness already visible. You dipped your hands into his underwear and pulled him out, licking your lips at the sight of his precum beading at the tip.
You let your fingers wander his length, teasingly, making sure you were as soft as possible. Then, you pulled away and spat into your hand. You wrapped your hand around his cock and began pumping at it. “Ngh, s-so good,” Frankie grunted, closing his eyes as you worked at him. “Haven’t-haven’t been touched in so long.”
“Relax,” you soothed. “Let me take care of you.”
Frankie bucked his hips further into your hand and you kept going. His eyes fluttered shut and his mind was in a solid state of euphoria. This was better than he had ever imagined and he knew he wouldn’t last long. You stroked him up and down and watched him as he came undone beneath you.
“Wanted this for so long,” he admits mindlessly. “Imagined this, so many nights… imagined your pretty lips around my-”
You cut Frankie off by taking his length in your mouth and pushing as deep as you could, opening your throat up to him and gagging slightly from his length. However, it didn’t take long to become comfortable with the way his cock filled you. He let out a gasp, his back arching and his fists grabbing the bed sheets. You bobbed your head up and down and he took a fistful of your hair, only encouraging you further.
He raised his head and watched you take him. Your hand still wet, you begin to pump the remaining length of him that you couldn’t fit into your mouth and he shudders in ecstasy. With your free hand, you cradle his balls, rubbing circles with your thumb and you can feel him almost lose it completely.
“Won’t last,” he warns you. “Please, wanna be inside you. Wanna feel your pussy.” he practically begs and as soon as you feel his cock twitch in your mouth, you pull off him, leaving a trail of your saliva between your tongue and his length.
You admired Frankie’s naked body spread out in your bed, a thin sheen of sweat glazing over his chest. It was a sight you had only dreamed about. He sat up and grabbed you by the waist, pulling you down so now he was on top. He positioned himself in between your legs and gently spread them apart, eyeing up the dark patch in the crotch of your panties from where you had previously orgasmed on his leg. He let his finger glide over the material, rubbing against the bud of your clit and you whimpered in desperation. “So wet for me.” he drew out. “Can I taste?” he asked, looked up at you with his big brown eyes. You wanted to smack that innocent look he had playing on his face.
“Frankieee.” you cried out. You would never, ever deny oral from Frankie but right now you craved something else. “Need you inside me. Please.”
Frankie pulled your panties down your legs and threw them to the floor. “Oh baby,” he moaned, running his fingers through your slick wet folds. “I’m just warming up.” his voice was like honey and he attached his mouth to your clit, sucking intently. You threw your head back at the sensation and felt his mustache and stubble tickle you as he worked your core.
This was better than anything Frankie had ever dreamed about. He needed to taste every drop of your arousal. He had wanted this for so long, and now it was finally happening. He wanted to savour every moment like it was his last. After all, you two were the best of friends and he didn’t know where exactly you’d stand about all of this tomorrow. If you’d even want to see him again. You were both risking a lot but somehow, it felt worthwhile.
Frankie found it difficult to remain composed as he devoured you and felt your body shake as you neared your climax. He grabbed your thighs, steadying you as you let out a wail. “Please Frankie.” you cried out, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. “Need you inside of me.”  You reminded, tugging on his hair even harder. He took his finger and grazed your entrance while still working his tongue against you. “Stop teasing.”
For once, Frankie listened to you and pulled his lips away from you. He thought he could cum just from eating you out and he didn’t want that to happen. This could be his only chance. You groaned in frustration at the break of contact. You were so close and he had edged you completely before pulling away. You had asked for it. He was such a tease. Frankie hovered himself over you and pressed a kiss to your forehead. You felt his cock nudge against your core and you dug your fingernails into his back. You needed him now.
“Do you have a condom?” Frankie whispered into your ear. He hadn’t brought any to the fake date because truthfully, he didn’t expect the night would be ending like this.
“I’m safe.” you promised him and he smiled, kissing your lips. You laced your fingers into his hair as he steadied himself on the bed.
“Are you ready?” Frankie questioned, nudging his cock over your entrance again causing you to let out a wail.
“Please Frankie. I’m ready.”
The second those two words left your lips, Frankie thrusted deep inside you. You gasped as he slowly adjusted himself inside of you and, still experiencing your high from when he ate you out, you knew you wouldn't ask long. He felt your walls tighten around him and he knew it too.
“I’m gonna cum.” you warned him, tugging on his curls at the nape of his neck and pulling his head down into your collarbones. He pinched at your skin with his teeth and increased his speed.
“Cum for me.” He instructed, his voice dark. With a few more sloppy thrusts, you came undone beneath him, dragging your nails down his back. He didn’t stop and continued to thrust into you as you climaxed causing small screams to emit from your lips. Frankie loved the little noises you made.
“Shit,” he whispered, his coarse hands finding and massaging your breasts. “Your cunt gets so tight when you cum.”
“Frankieeee, keep doing that and I’ll cum again.” you said softly and you felt Frankie’s lips twist into a wicked smirk as he pushed himself deeper inside of you.
“Ngh you feel so good,” Frankie grunted, pearls of sweat beading at his hairline. “Can you cum for me again? Can you give me another one?”
“Yes Frankie,” you obeyed, cupping your hands around his face and forcing him to look you in the eyes while he fucked you. His coarse facial hair grazed your hands but nothing felt as good as his length filling you up, hitting you in just the right spot with each thrust.
“I want you to cum with me,” Frankie gasped, groaning loudly as he felt his cock twitch inside you. He was close, and you could feel it too. “Same time.” he instructed. He was so used to giving orders, that it turned you on even more. “Can you do that for me?” his voice was urged and he kept his pace consistent.
You managed to give him a small nod and closed your eyes feeling nothing but pure bliss and ecstasy. “I’m close!” you managed to cry out.
“Me too, n-not long baby,” Frankie promised you. “Say my name.”
“Fuck Frankie, you fuck me so good. Your cock fills me up so well. Feels so good,” you moaned, your legs tightening around his waist.
“That’s it.” Frankie groaned.
“Cum inside me Frankie,” you gasped. “Pl-please. Need to feel your warm cum inside of me.”
“Gonna count down baby girl,” Frankie said, straightening up and pushing more hard thrusts inside of you. He admired your tangled body between him and brought his thumb to your clit, rubbing at it while he finished fucking you. “Are you ready?”
“Frankieeee.” You cried out, squeezing your eyes shut.
“3, 2,” Frankie pushed one final deep thrust into you. “1.” You and Frankie both came together, your wet cunt squeezing his cock like a vice and his thick ropes of cum spilling inside of you.
Frankie rolled off you and lay next to you. You curled yourself into his damp chest and he slung his arm around you. You felt safe. Protected. You knew that Frankie would never let anyone or anything hurt you but now it felt different. He was your safety, and you were his home. For a few minutes, you both laid there in silence trying to regain your breath and settle down.
“That was-” Frankie started but you cut him off.
“So good.” you smiled and he grinned back in agreement.
“The best.” He replied and gave you a little squeeze of reassurance.
“Hey Frankie?” You asked and he hummed in acknowledgement. “If that was a fake date… what the hell do you do on a fake date?” You raised an eyebrow and giggled when you saw Frankie’s cheeks rosy up.
“Wanna find out?” He beckoned and your grin couldn’t have grown any wider. You were finally going to get your chance to have a real date with Frankie.

ATEEZ Reaction To: Having a wet dream about you
Tumblr media
yourusernames: Omg can I request ATEEZ reaction to having a wet dream about their friend? (Who would start developing a crush, who would want to have a one night stand and who wouldn't care at all?) Thanks!!
A/N: These reactions are based solely off of what I think they’d do, I am in no way, shape or form, telling you that this IS how the members would handle this scenario. Like shit, I dunno the guys :/. This is a gender neutral reader reaction btw :)
(This is very explicit, you have been warned!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hongjoong ♡:
• It felt like the actual thing
• Your lips; sweet like pink lemonade and eyes staring into his with a soft sparkle that originated from his bedside lamp
• but what felt more real than anything was you
• Your scent, your taste
• Your touch...
• It was all overwhelming in the sense that he found himself breaking out of his dreaming state, breath heavy as if he’d been sprinting for hours, and a lusty sheen screening his mind from acting with any sense of rationality
• He was horny horny, dawg 💀
• I feel for that man, it’s tough...
• He could already tell that he had an...accident, before he pushed the duvet off his body due to registering the last couple twitches of his restricted cock in his shorts
• No wonder he could ‘feel’ everything so well
• He wasn’t able to sleep the rest of the night.
• Couldn’t help but begin to feel a crush blossom for you
• As y’all already know, the man gets attached to the ones he spends the most time with
• You’re no exception
• Would end up telling you about his feelings. It was eating him up inside to keep it to himself
Tumblr media
Seonghwa ♡:
• He has no right looking this good, dawg. It literally makes me so mad lmao
• Lemme lick your face, I bet it tastes like expensive concealer and everything I’ll never have >:}
• Anywhore
• He felt feverish, even inside his dream
• It was odd; he could feel you, but he couldn’t feel you. He remembers the surreal sensation of warmth under his palms as he grabbed onto your bare ass whilst you bounced you on top of him, panting hard and clutching at his damp hair to pull his head back
• He groaned, and just as he went to switch positions, he was snapped out of his dream
• Was like “Fuckin pardon?” when he realised where he was; his empty bed, alone in his own room, no sign of you
• Frowned, pushing the covers off of him because dawg, he was heating up OwO
• Then realised the large wet spot at the front of his sweatpants
• “What the...”
• Was never the same™
• Everytime he saw you, he couldn’t help but feel that same heat in his hands, and he felt guilty about it.
• Didn’t know how to approach you about it at all. What was he supposed to say?
• “I nutted in my pants because I dreamt about doing the dirty with you”
• Just wouldn’t bring it up
• Good chance he’d catch feelings. Seonghwa builds bonds with the people he knows, it’s very easy to tell that when he cares, and he would care dearly for you. Once the chance that anything intimate between you two arises, I’m sure he’d begin to think of you romantically once you’re shown in said light.
Tumblr media
Yunho ♡:
• Now wouldn’t a flustered Yunho be a sight? Damn...
• He loved looking down at you
• The way you smiled at him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling his bare chest into yours as you whispered how good he felt inside you, cooing out words of praise and encouragment
• It was hazy, but he can still vaguely remember how you kissed him so sweetly. How your fingers smoothed his bangs away from his eyes, and how you moaned into his ear softly with each thrust
• It was only when you cupped his cheeks and spoke, did you break him out of his dream;
• “Wake up.”
• His eyes shot open
• Only a blue ceiling stared back
• “Mmm...?” Yunho sits up and rubs his eyes roughly, already aware of the blush that paints his cheeks and nose because he can feel the heat in his face
• Said ‘What the fawk 😃’ when his brain caught up with what he just experienced, as well as the stickiness that clung to his inner thighs when he moved to go get some water
• This bitch was contemplating his whole life after that
• Is ‘UwU’ with you from then on cuz a babie caught butterfwies ;(
• Rlly bad at hiding his feelings lol, you’d catch on eventually
Tumblr media
Yeosang ♡:
• It was messy, to say the least
• Kitchen island sex? Yup :D
• The dream wasn’t at all put into play with any sense. You guys were just... in the kitchen, when you confessed your feelings and made a move on him
• A deep kiss mixed with the pounding of nervous hearts all put Yeosang in a fever outside of his dream
• “Say you like it,” You panted, using the hand on the back of his head to push his forehead against yours while the other kept you from laying onto the island
• “I like it.. Fuck, I like it”
• “Yeah?” His hips stutter when you clench your walls around him, and in turn, he lets out a choked-off gasp
• “Y一Oh my god一Yeah...”
• Damn... he was FEELING it lmao
• Funny thing is that he slept throughout the entire dream and woke up only when his foot did a little mid-sleep spasm
• Stared at the wall while frowning for soooooo fucking long
• Whole time he said ‘ya know wot, that’s real interesting 🤔’
• Then was like “Prolly just horny 😃. oh well, time to change my underwear”
• And that’s what he chalked it up to in the end. Would maybe make a joke about it to you next time y’all hung out if he’s feeling loose enough and doesn’t mull over it for too long
Tumblr media
San ♡:
• HEATHEN
• Hold on, lemme get a half-assed feel for the man... yes... mm-hm... ah, I see... OK!
• So, from what I can tell, San would distance himself from you slightly. Maybe.
• That night, as he lie in his bed, breath coming faster with each motion that went on in his head, he saw you in a way that he never thought would happen.
• Skin, slick with sweat and eyes like burning coals as they focused on him. There wasn’t much to remember before it was already fading, but he could still make out how much his stomach lept and spun, heart oh-so thunderous in his chest. Whatever you did with him in the dream... it sparked something inside him.
• San was in a daze as he woke up, his body not quite cooperating with him when he tried to sit up, and instead, falling limp with the next couple of attempts.
• WHEN I TELL YOU THE SOUL WAS SUCKED FROM THIS MAN AISDIUBFADEBI-
• Really just stared into space with the look of a dead man
• What did he do when he finally saw you again?
•  ✨ pretend he didn’t see shit ✨
• Not the masked uncomfort-
• Depending on whether you’re one for confrontation, he might just cave if you press him about his weird behavior enough, but be fast, because I’m sure he could push his feelings down succesfully if he tried hard enough.
Tumblr media
Mingi ♡:
• Dude... the fucking happiness of the dream...
• Silly giggles when you’d accidentally bonk eachother while switching posititons, bright smiles when you stared at eachother after a long time, random compliments, and nothing too serious that you couldn’t find playfulness in. Even when you’d both stop smiling to let out small moans and feel the moment together, it was always lighthearted.
• FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK IM SO ANGRY-
• It was some shit you’d see at the sundance ;(
• Then he woke up-
• You were the first and only thing he thought about as he gained conciousness. He wanted you... you, you, you, just you.
• He’d never wanted anything so bad. A sudden longing that made a lump form in his throat and an overwhelming feeling of how much he’s always wanted you.
• So, like Mingi does, he strived for that goal >:D
• He made an effort to see you as many times as he could and whenever you were free to hang out. And finally, one night when you both lie in his bed and gazed thoughtlessly at the ceiling, he told you.
• “I had a dream about you, you know.”
Not me basically making a summary of a could-be fic-
Tumblr media
Wooyoung ♡:
• Now believe it or not, this bitch is hard for me to get a grasp on. All I can say with confidence is that he has the sex appeal of a milf stripper and is kinda stubborn-
• Hmm.... bothered.
• That is the feeling it would pull from him.
• Hungry; frequent patterns of warm breath against sweat-slicked skin, mumbled curses past wet lips, nails dug into his stomach deep enough to draw blood yet barely acknowledged through animalistic films over both your eyes, and teeth furrowed into the flesh of his shoulder as you scratched at the blank canvas of his back.
• It was all raw sexual aggression from both sides. So much so, that you both practically fought during it.
“I hate you. I hate you like you don’t even know, Wooyoung,” You speak, breathless, and reach up to weave both fists into his hair, “I love you so much that I fucking... hate you.”
• Then...
• Gone.
• Just like that, the dream was replaced with the sight of familiar bedroom walls as Wooyoung opened his eyes, a sigh escaping past his lips when he finally pieced things together.
• “As if I wasn’t already stressed enough...,” He murmurs, staring down at the new stain on his sweatpants.
• From that point on, it’s a new habit for Wooyoung to catch sight of you and keep his gaze there; just staring when you’re not looking, and feeling terrible afterwards. He feels like he violated you somehow, and with that ball of dread in his stomach whenever he sees you, he becomes distant.
• It’s not catching feelings so much as it is a new desire.
Tumblr media
Jongho ♡:
• Jongho, Jongho, Jongho... whatever will we do with you?
• Upfront about it, surprisingly.
• He caught feelings. How could he not when you’re one of the most breath-taking people he’s ever had the pleasure of knowing?
• That face of yours, along with your voice so soft and encouraging in his ears, was enough for him to cave.
• “Just like that, baby... Just like that.”
• He doesn’t even remember the details of the dream. Just your words and kisses, which still make the touched skin of his body heat with excitement whilst he blinks down at his hands.
• He clenches them; one, twice, then lets them fall back to his sides. He doesn’t need to look into his pants to know that he’s soiled himself.
• He feels kinda... empty? After the dream. Lmao just as exhausted as San was, really, but both at the fluttering his heart when he thinks of you, and the dream itself, so cleans himself up real quick before going back to sleep.
• The fluttering doesn’t go away the next morning.
• So... he tells you :D
• As soon as you walk through the door, holding a bag of snacks and drinks for preparation to crash at Jongho’s apartment for a little bit, he sits you down on the couch, much to your confusion at the serious face he has.
• “I know that this kind of thing can ruin friendships and I don’t want that. At all. But, I had a... dream, about you last night and now I can’t really stop thinking about you...”
• Not the pounding of his heart making him dizzy :*

series masterlist
part 1 | part 2
Tumblr media
You woke up feeling dizzy and with a major headache. At first you thought it was because you drank a whole lot of wine last night but then you saw yourself in a room you never saw before. You stoop up quickly trying to understand where you were and how did you end up there. You were sure that you have never been in this place before, and it was scaring you that you showed up in there.
There was a mirror nailed to the wall in from of you almost forcing you to look at your own body, that made you notice that you were still wearing the same clothes from last night, but you weren’t home. Not being home was odd given by the fact you stayed there with your family and two friends you invited over, since there’s a whole freaking pandemic going on and you for sure did not want to get sick or get other people sick.
“Did I get kidnapped?” you think out loud. “No, I just watch too much Criminal Minds.” you tell yourself, trying to calm down.
You reach for the face mask placed on the nightstand, getting ready to leave this random place and go home. You tried not to freak out when you realized your phone was gone and the only cellphone in there was probably as old as your grandmother. You dialed your moms number about five times and all of them went on voicemail, making you curse mentally.
This can’t be happening. Not to me.
As soon as you leave the apartment you were in you realized you weren’t in your hometown, definitely not. It was crowded, like, really crowded and no one was wearing any face masks. Where did the freaking pandemic go? You wondered while you felt like a misfit for being the only one wearing it.
“Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?” you ask an old lady walking by.
“You’re on Main Street, sweetheart.” she says.
“No, um, I mean the city.” you watched as the old lady looked at you with a funny face, as if she was calling you crazy on her mind.
“We’re in Quantico, dear.”
“Quantico?” you repeat, mostly for yourself then for her. The lady started at you like you were an alien. “Thank you so much, ma’am.”
The air started to go low on you, how did you get to Virginia, anyway? That was across the country from where you lived, Bellevue in Washington state. You started lost walking, trying to understand what the hell was going on. It felt like you were on a parallel universe, like you were in a dream but couldn't wake up and it sure felt very real. You stoped a jornal shop taking a lot at the last newspaper in there, trying to figure if something happened that you were missing. However, nothing reported there shocked you, what did, though, was the date.
July 1st, 2008
You were about to ask someone about it when you bumped into a blonde woman, falling on the ground. As soon as you looked up, you almost chocked yourself. If the day was already weird, this was even weirder. A.J Cook was standing right in front of you with a concerned look. You couldn't really say anything, just staring at her like she wasn't real. It was weird seeing her in front of you after only seeing her through screens.
“I’m so sorry!” she said as she offered a hand for you to get up. “Are you ok?”
“I- um, yes! I’m fine.” you san, getting the dirt out of your outfit. “I’m a big fan of yours! Wish I had my phone here to take a picture but- sorry.“ you stoped talking, realizing she probably doesn’t care.
“Big fan of me? Wow, howcome somebody’s a fan of me?” she sounds surprised.
“Well, you’re on Criminal Minds.” you say as it was obvious.
She looked at you as if you were out of your mind. Not that you weren't thinking otherwise at the moment, anyways.
“I’m on what now?” she asked.
Maybe you got confused and she was the wrong person, but she looked so much like her to not be her. If they were not the same person, then definitely twins. This was so weird, once again, you found yourself asking ‘what the hell’ mentally.
“You’re JJ, Jennifer Jareau, FBI Agent and all.” you say, trying one more time. “Behaviour Analysis Unit...”
“Yea, that‘s me.” she let a nervous laugh comes out of her mouth. “How do you know me?”
‘This is weird’ you thought. How does she not understand where you know her from? Literally Criminal Minds, like you said at first. ‘Maybe this is all a dream.’
“I saw you on tv” you try.
“Oh, I see! You like law enforcement?” she asks you.
“Oh yes, I’m in law-school to be a judge someday.” you answered. “The show, all of it just makes me wanna put all them bad guys in jail.” you say, laughing a bit.
“The show...? What?” you hear her whisper, but decide to ignore it. “What’s the mask about?” JJ asks, making you look at her surprised.
“Um, covid-19?” you say like it’s obvious, because it is.
“Oh, sure...” she smiles as she says it, almost like she's only agreeing because she won't discuss it. “Great talking to you, really, but I gotta go, FBI duty calls.” she jokes.
You smile at her watching carefully as she picks up her phone from her pocket and pick up a call. That phone looked awfully old, like 2000’s old. Why would a famous actress have that kinda of phone? Then, you looked around trying to understand more about what was going on. It was all too out of place.
First, nobody wearing masks, not even a single person but you. Second, you were in a city in which is miles away from your own. Third, a famous actress acted like she’s nobody. And fourth, the date on the calendar said 2008.
If it wasn’t just impossible I would say I time travelled into Criminal Minds universe.
After standing there for literal 10 minutes trying to figure it out what you were going to do, you decide to go to the police department. After all, you may have been abducted, right? Because you didn’t have any knowledge of the place, you took quite some time to get there. As soon as you got there you sigh in relief, that has been quite a walk and damn, you were tired of this situation.
“Excuse me, ma’am, can you help me?” you ask to the lady standing behind the counter.
“Sure, dear. What do you need?” she looks up at you, taking her glasses of her face.
“I think I might have been abducted?” you start. “I woke up in this random apartment.”
“Maybe you had a one-night stand.” she said putting back her glasses.
“No! I am sure I didn’t because first of all, there’s a pandemic going on, second of all I was in Bellevue in Washington state when I went to sleep.” you yell, involuntarily, desperate to make her believe in you.
“Miss, I’m gonna need you to calm down or you will be escorted out of the building. You’re probably on drugs, there's nothing we can do for you.”
“Fuck you.” you say as you watch her face get all red.
Frustrated. That could define what you were feeling, scared and worried could do the work, as well. What were you going to do now? Go to the FBI to see if they could freaking understand why you simply appeared in Quantico? Didn't sound like a bad idea in your mind as you decided to just try it out. After all, you were already pretty screwed up, it would worth a shot.
You reached for your back pocket, hoping that the money you shoved in there more than a week ago would still be in there. Bingo! You pull out a 20 dollar bill out of it and the next thing you know you’re getting into a cab asking him to take you to the FBI. Now that’s something you never thought would happen. The travel was quite quick, in 20 minutos you were standing in front of that big isolated building. It looked like it was taken straight out of your favorite show, that was insane.
The wind blew hard on you when you got out of the vehicle, making you shiver a little, that reminded you that you did not have any clothes nor money to buy more. God, you did not even have where to go. You didn't even get the chance to get into the building as a big man steps in front of you, blocking your way.
“Miss, you're not allowed in this building.” he said without much expression.
“But, sir-” you started, as you saw he was about to interrupt you, you go on. “Ive been abducted and I don't know where or how the hell did I get in here, I’m completely hopeless... Please.” you beg him.
He started at you for a couple of seconds, that felt like centuries for you, just to sigh at you.
“Ok, follow me.” he said. “Do not make me regret this.”
“I-I won’t, sir.” you were quick to answer.
The agent asked another man to cover up for him as he led me into the building. Once again you found yourself admired of how much it did look like a Criminal Minds episode in there, if you weren't totally desperate you'd be amused. Soon, you two were out of the elevator on floor 8, leading with the words Behavior Analysis Unit quite big.
“Can you take her to Agent Jareau, please?” the man said to someone who passed by, who simply agreed.
Now, that's a funny coincidence, there's actually an Agent Jareau in the BAU.
You followed the woman with questioning trying to stay calm when you saw Matthew Gray Gubler sitting on a desk reading some book in Reid style, almost like he was Spencer himself. If you had any doubts you were going crazy, that was the final proof. You stoped walking, taking a stare at him and then at the Agent that stared a you like you were an alien.
“Is there something wrong?” she asks you. “Miss, are you ok?”
You were unable to answer for a few seconds when you finally opened you mouth, still trying to figure it out how to say what was on your mind without sounding completely insane.
“Is that Dr. Spencer Reid?”
And that was all you’re able to say because as soon as you let his name out of your mouth he looked up at you, trying to somehow recognize you. You were sure, that time, that you never looked - and sounded - as insane as right now.
“Yes, that's me.” he answers.
His voice was the last thing you could hear before everything go black. Maybe you were finally going to wake up. Maybe.

Loving You Was A Mistake - Elias Lindholm | Rock Band AU
Tumblr media
Summary: Elias was trouble, Amelia could tell from the moment they had first met. With his flirty smile, stormy eyes that brought crowds of girls to his feet, and a cocky personality, he was the last person Amelia wanted to deal with. But with alcohol flowing through her system, she had never been the one to make good decisions.
A/N: I kinda like how this fic turned out, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too!
Word Count: 12,6k
Warnings: SMUT, drinking, anxiety and panic, heartbreak, swearing
“Rum and coke,” Elias yelled over the loud rhythm of the music he hated - the music he listened to almost every night. The bartender spared him a quick look, nodding his head as he registered the order before leaving the guitarist on his own to look at the thick mass of dancing bodies in the middle of the dance floor.
Elias Lindholm had been the party scene ever since High School, in search of fun, girls, alcohol, and drugs. It was who he had grown up to be, no shame in what he loved to do, and his rise to fame truly didn’t change his lifestyle: in some way, it made his nightly adventures even better.
There was a moment before a manicured hand grasped his arm, grabbing his attention. His charming smile appeared on his lips without an order, and he was left to face the smaller girl who had touched him with hungry eyes.
“Looking for something, sweetheart?” Elias said, enjoying the way her hands slid from his bicep to his chest.
“A man to spend the night with,” her words were said in his ear, her sweet voice not as sensual as he had hoped it would be. His light eyes searched for hers, a hint of sexual tension filling the air as he put his needs before everything else. He wasn’t going to refuse a night of sex, especially if it was with someone as hot as the girl in front of him.
“A man to spend the night with,” he repeated, smirking as he let his hand ghost the curve of her ass. “I can work with that,”
The girl smirked too, lips slowly inching closer to his as the music surrounding them subsided. He was left to kiss her hungrily, not a care in the world that he was in the middle of a packed club. Elias just kissed her, trying to lure her to his bed, just like he did every night.
He pulled away just when he couldn’t bear it anymore, turning around to take a sip of his drink. Except, it wasn’t his drink. Dry martini was burning his throat as his flushed face took a look of disgust, his eyes roaming around to find the bartender in search of an explanation.
All he was faced with, though, was another face of disgust, pretty lips pulled in a pout as the girl next to him swore. “Fucking hell,”
The liquid inside her glass was dark, and Elias could only guess she had taken a blind swig of the alcohol - just like he had done. “Where’s my martini?”
Elias smirked as he forgot about the girl he had just kissed, taking a seat next to his new companion as he switched their drinks confidently. “There you go,”
The woman next to him turned around with her features tugged in a frown, hands moving quickly as she pushed the glass of martini back to him. “There’s no way I’m drinking that. You just exchanged spit with that chick, man,”
Elias chuckled, jaw clenching as he gave the new stranger in front of him a once-over. Her dress was tight against her skin, red lipstick sticking out even under the dark lights of the club. She was breathtaking, and the girl from a few minutes prior was already more than forgotten. She was part of the past, the woman in front of him was the present.
“Looking for someone to dance with?” He asked smugly, finger ghosting over the rim of his glass, the print of her lipstick still coloring one side.
“You definitely wouldn’t be that someone,” the woman stated, signaling for the bartender to come closer, ordering another glass of dry martini.
“Put it on my check,” Elias said, ignoring the woman’s annoyed groan. His eyes went back to her, smirk still painting his lips. “What do I have to do to learn your name, sweetheart?”
The woman laughed ironically, eyebrows arching as she took a good look at him. “You think I’d be interested in you? Very funny,”
“We both know you’ll end up in my bed, by the end of the night,”
Elias’ words made the woman scoff, eyes rolling as she grabbed the new glass of martini the bartender had just passed her. “Keep telling yourself, scout,” she hummed, tipping her head back and taking a large gulp of the drink. “I got better things to do than to sleep with an egocentric asshole,”
Elias just smirked, his stubbornness making his body light up on fire as he watched her stand up from her stool. He was going to have her. “I’ll see you later, sweetheart,”
“The name is Amelia,” she hissed his way, looking behind her shoulder. “Just so you can stop using those basic pet names on me,”
“Elias,” he smirked, watching her hips sway as she left his side, disappearing behind the tall wall of people on the dance floor. Elias was left to himself as he looked down at his drink, a grin forming on his lips as his new acquaintance stayed on his mind.
Amelia was still scoffing as she headed for the dance floor, hips automatically swaying to the rhythm of the music as she found a spot in the middle. She felt numerous eyes on her as she danced, hands feeling her body up as she pushed the tension off her shoulders.
Who the fuck did that stranger think he was?
He was a very good-looking stranger, if she had to be honest, but he for sure wasn’t worth her time. He let his charm get to his head, she thought as she danced, shaking her head softly when she realized just what she was doing. She was thinking about him, and he didn’t deserve to be talked about.
So, she danced, even with strangers. She couldn’t exactly place it, but dancing with random men sent her body in a frenzy. She heated up as she swayed her hips, forehead growing sweaty, throat drying. Amelia felt like an animal, the club her natural habitat.
Even if on her own, she danced until her legs couldn’t hold her up anymore, until she felt sweaty, until she couldn’t take it anymore. She went back to the bar just when it was really needed, hoping that the stranger from earlier had left and she could enjoy a drink on her own.
Elias was still there, though, uncharacteristically silent as he nursed another glass of rum and coke. He was surprised at himself for spending the night alone: normally, he would have been at home by midnight, having sex with the girl he picked up that night. Instead, he was there, eyeing his prey as she made her way towards the other side of the countertop.
Their eyes met, Amelia’s squaring him as her eyebrows furrowed. She couldn’t believe he was still there. Elias couldn’t keep his eyes off of her, and Amelia couldn’t help herself either.
Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe it was the heat, but she couldn’t deny the sudden attraction towards the man a few feet away from her. All her self-control seemed to leave her body when he stood up from his chair, taking his time to make his way past the crowd surrounding them. She filled with jitters as she downed her drink, letting the alcohol burn her insides and wake her body up.
A firm body pressed against her back just as she put her glass down, a huff of warm breath hitting her cheek as a familiar voice snapped her out of her trance.
“I knew you’d give in,” Elias whispered in her ear, voice sending shivers down her spine. “You can’t resist me, nobody can,”
“Don’t let it get to your head too much, boy,” Amelia hissed, turning around to face him, her index finger stabbing his chest. “You’re still a stuck-up, egocentric dick that-”
Elias’ lips crashed against hers quickly, her body freezing for a sharp second before she could get comfortable again. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer just as his tongue parted her lips, his hands leaving a hot trail everywhere they touched.
Amelia felt in heaven for a second as she let him have control, her fingers burying themselves in his hair as he started to pull away, keeping him closer for one more second. Elias parted ways to call the bartender, ordering two shots before paying his check.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Amelia asked, confusion and annoyance coating her tone as she looked up at the man.
“I’m doing you a favor,” Elias smirked, grabbing the smaller glasses and pushing one her way. “Drink, so you won’t bitch in the morning,”
He made the shot glasses clink before throwing his head back and downing the drink, admiring Amelia when she followed his lead. Her features scrunched for a quick second before she looked up at him, grabbing the neck of his shirt to pull him down, their lips meeting quickly.
“You better make it worth it, asshole,” Amelia whispered against his lips, the smirk painting his features making the fire inside her burn even more.
“You won’t regret it, sweetheart,”
-
Amelia woke up in a gray, unknown room, head aching in the most terrible way and her mouth dry. She was confused, laying on her side as she looked around, trying to figure out just where she was.
It looked like she was in a hotel - the decorative plants and paintings being too basic for a normal house -, and definitely not her apartment. She was eager to find her phone and see where she was located, but huffed when she discovered her purse was on the other side of the room, too far away to reach.
Amelia laid back down, sighing as she tried to relax her tense muscles. She was uncharacteristically not worried about the fact that she had slept in a foreign hotel room after a night out, and she wasn’t too scared to take her time, either - it was a Saturday, after all.
She seemed to feel the weight of an arm around her waist just then, as if her body had been numb the entire time. A sudden wave of flashbacks hit her like a truck as she shuffled out of the bed, her awakening being rougher than she had expected.
She had slept with the stranger.
Amelia had slept with the cocky asshole from the club, and she was standing in front of his sleeping frame in just a pair of panties and a way-too-big shirt that certainly didn’t belong to her.
In a state of shock, she stumbled towards the window, parting the curtains to reveal a cloudy Times Square. She realized in less than a minute that she was inside the Kimpton Muse, the five-star hotel she could only dream about.
“Fucking hell,”
The sudden voice made her jump, spinning around quickly to see the stranger - well, Elias - stretching under the warm comforter.
“What the fuck did we do-” Amelia mumbled, a mix of exasperation and panic coating her words as one of her hands ran through her messy hair.
Her own voice seemed to scare Elias, his eyes jumping towards her as a satisfied smile painted his lips. “Well, good morning, sweetheart,” he murmured, sitting up on the bed and letting the duvet fall away from him, revealing his naked chest.
Amelia groaned at the sight, his toned body bringing back another set of flashbacks as she remembered his hands on her body, his lips on her neck. “Didn’t think you’d still be here,” Elias continued.
“Didn’t even know I was here,” Amelia mumbled back as she searched for anything to put on, in a rush to leave the room. A sudden wave of panic hit her as she remembered they had slept together, that she hadn’t just come back to his place to sleep in his bed. She also registered the ache between her legs just when she ran towards the closest trashcan. “Tell me we used protection,”
“Amelia, relax-”
“Elias, fucking tell me,” the woman hissed his way, a scowl on her face as her stormy eyes focused on his, his cocky demeanor slowly fading.
“We did,” the guitarist admitted, mindlessly pointing towards the en-suite. “You can go check the garbage in there,”
Amelia’s heart slowed down just after his answer, her body slowly moving towards the bathroom and checking, a relieved sigh leaving the lips when she saw a discarded condom inside the trashcan.
“Thank God,” she whispered under her breath, stepping back inside the room to search for her dress. Amelia wanted to leave the hotel - and Elias - behind as quickly as she could. They had made a mistake, and the quicker she could forget about it, the better it would be for everyone.
Elias was left to look at her as she scrambled around the room, running a hand through his messy hair as he held back a chuckle.
“What?” Amelia asked when she caught him staring, her eyebrows furrowing.
“Why are you rushing? Got somewhere to be?”
“As far away from you as possible,” Amelia spat out, discarding the shirt she could only guess was his and not really caring that she was topless. He had seen every part of her anyway, right? She pulled her dress back on, groaning when she struggled with the zipper.
“Why?” Elias asked, throwing the duvet away from his body as he stood up to help her. His hands were gentle as he touched her back, zipping her up before letting his fingertips linger against her skin.
“Because it was a fucking mistake,” she stated quickly, grasping her purse from the couch a few feet away and grabbing her phone, sighing when she realized it was dead. “It was nice meeting you,” she lied, grabbing her heels and keeping them in her hands. “Have a nice life,”
She didn’t leave him time to say goodbye, leaving his hotel room and heading for the elevators as quickly as she could. As she rummaged inside her purse, her fingers caught onto something cold, small.
Amelia’s eyebrows furrowed as she fished for the object, only to find a familiar ring. Elias’ ring. She had to search through her mind to remember when he could have lost it, and her only conclusion was when the two of them had been messily making out inside the Uber, right before getting to his hotel.
A huff automatically left her mouth, her inner self questioning whether she should bring it back to him or just throw it in the trash. The elevator opened, though, interrupting her inner monologue, and she was forced to do her walk of shame in front of the rich patrons of the hotel.
She felt like she truly started breathing again just when she reached Times Square, calling a cab and finally relaxing in its backseat. Amelia had slept with probably the most annoying stranger she had ever met, not only blowing up the promise she had made to herself to never sleep with cocky assholes, but also hating herself for it.
Why the hell did she do that?
All she could remember was how good he was, how earth-shattering the orgasms he gave her were, and how worth it he had made it.
She hated herself for it, but she couldn’t deny the fact that she had enjoyed it. She had enjoyed his chasing, she had enjoyed his attention, and she had enjoyed the sex more than everything.
Amelia needed to forget about him, though, and nothing was going to stop her from doing that. She didn’t need a man like Elias in her life: men like him were a waste of emotions, a waste of time, and she had a life to live.
Yet, when she arrived home and emptied her purse, his ring didn’t go in the trash. She let it sit on her nightstand.
She needed to forget about him, but maybe that task could wait a little longer to be done.
-----
Elias didn’t know what he was doing, if he had to be honest. His mind was elsewhere as he sat on the couch of his hotel, guitar in hand as he strummed an improvised melody. The sounds were entering one ear and leaving from the other, working as background noise.
Chordback’s world tour had ended just a few weeks prior, and he was more than happy to enjoy his stay in New York, one of his favorite places in the world. Sure, it didn’t feel like home, but there was nothing as comforting as the Big Apple’s nightclubs for the guitarist.
He was the life of the party, and New York was the party.
Elias couldn’t understand how he had gotten there, though: on a Saturday night, alone in his room, missing the first ring he had bought himself after signing his contract. He couldn’t understand just why his body was so against going outside, why his mind was agreeing with that decision too.
One thing he was sure of, was the fact that he couldn’t get Amelia out of his head. Images of her naked body appeared in his mind, interrupting his sleep and leaving him hot and bothered in the middle of the night. And when he considered calling an old hookup to take care of the mess he had become? His body would just refuse to collaborate.
It had been one week ever since he had first met her, one painful week. He didn’t know what to do with himself anymore, and all he wished for was to have one more night with her.
Elias had never been one for encores, and he was shocked at his own self for even wanting the same woman that badly more than once. But he did what he had never thought he could do, grabbing his phone from the coffee table and dialing Chordback’s personal assistant’s number.
He took a swig of his beer as he listened to the hums of the line, gripping his guitar with force as he waited for Deborah to pick up. He couldn’t take it anymore.
“Hey, man,” The voice he heard, though, didn’t belong to Deborah. Matthew had answered the phone, words slightly slurred as Elias heard some munching coming from his bandmate’s line. “What’s up?”
“Chucky,” the guitarist chuckled breathily, running a hand through his hair as he rested his neck on the back of the couch. “Is Debby there? I need to ask her something,”
“Oh, uh- yeah, we were just making muffins,” Matthew mumbled. “Babe, Elias needs to talk to you- I’ll see you soon, man,”
“Yeah,” Elias mumbled, listening to the shuffling from the other line until the assistant’s voice ringed through his ears.
“Elias? You doing okay?”
“Yeah, no, I’m doing just fine,” the guitarist admitted. “I just need a favor,”
Deborah hummed, probably sitting down, as Elias blew out a sigh. “You didn’t just get someone pregnant, did you?”
“No, no!” Elias squeaked, making the woman laugh gently.
“Then what is it?”
A sudden wave of nerves hit the guitarist at that moment, his confidence long gone as he asked himself just what he was supposed to say. ‘I met a girl and I can’t get her out of my mind’ was definitely not something he would normally say. That wasn’t him.
The words came out before he could even stop them, eyes shutting close as soon as he finished his sentence. “I slept with a girl last week and she has my ring,” as if that was all he needed from Amelia.
“That ring?” Deborah’s voice grew more tender as she realized what he was talking about. The ring had a meaning deeper than one could expect, and that was why Elias couldn’t exactly live without it. “She stole that ring?”
“N-”
“Give me her name,” Deborah stated, voice serious. Elias kept silent for a second as he internally cursed himself out for being that stupid. Amelia hadn’t stolen the ring: he had been dumb enough to play with it while being drunk, and it fell inside her purse. “Elias, give me her name,”
He just wanted to talk to her.
“Amelia,” he mumbled, chest filling with regret. “I don’t have her last name, but I know she lives in New York,”
“Alright,” Deborah pressed, voice harsh. “She will hear from me,”
“Debby, I’ll handle it,” Elias interrupted her mumbling, selfishly using the mess he had created to reach his goal: talking to her again. “I just need her number,”
The woman on the other line stayed in silence for a second. “I’ll start my research right now,”
The call was ended quickly from her, leaving him in shock and silence in the middle of his room.
What the fuck had he done?
-----
“Hello?”
Amelia’s tone was painted with uncertainty when she answered the call, eyebrows furrowed as she balanced the phone between her ear and shoulder.
“Hi, this is Deborah Miller, personal assistant of the band Chordback. Amelia?”
“Uh- yes, that’s me,” Amelia mumbled, entering the back of the haircare store she owned to hear the woman on the other side of the call better.
“I’m calling regarding your encounter with Elias Lindholm, last Friday night,” the woman stated, making Amelia’s eyes close shut. Oh, God. She had fucked up. “I was notified by him that his ring went missing, and that you could be the one who stole it,”
Amelia stayed in silence for a second. She most certainly didn’t steal the ring.
“Stole it?!” Amelia almost yelled. “Ma’am, I don’t know what you’ve been told, but him losing his ring in my purse certainly isn’t stealing from my side,”
There was a moment of silence from the woman, Amelia’s hand resting against her forehead as she thought about the situation she had found herself in. All because of that damn stranger at the club. “I’ve given Mr. Lindholm your number so you could sort things out, but we won’t be afraid to take legal actions if the ring won’t be given back,”
Amelia was given no time to respond, the call being abruptly stopped right after the unknown woman finished speaking. She was confused to say the least, but the rage inside her made her body burn.
Elias literally wanted to sue her for carelessly losing his own ring, how was that her fault?
The bell of the store sounded just as Amelia’s phone vibrated in her hand, a text from another unknown user making her screen light up.
“I’ll be with you in a second!” She yelled at the customer, unlocking her phone to read the text.
Unknown: Hey, was wondering if we could meet up so I can get back my ring? x - Elias
Amelia rolled her eyes, face taking a look of disgust as she answered his text.
Tomorrow, five p.m. sharp at Upper West Side Central Park.
If Elias thought he was going to see her again after that, he was wrong.
-
Amelia was enraged as she sat near a tree, the cup of coffee in her hand long forgotten as her other palm held a ziplock bag. The ring was secured in there, ready to be given back to its original owner.
After the call, all she wanted to do was to give the ring back to Elias, and get back to her life - her life without the trouble that the stranger had brought as soon as they had met.
She had been threatened to be sued by his personal assistant - why the hell he had an assistant in the first place, she didn’t know -, so how was she supposed to believe he was someone to trust?
“Hey,”
The voice that snapped Amelia out of her trance was more than familiar to her, the scowl on her face not fading as she looked up at the man. She stood from the bench, keeping the distance from Elias as she threw the bag his way.
“Now, get out of my way,” she spat, ignoring the way his smile faded. “And for good, this time,”
She turned on her heels, starting to walk away from the man she had grown to hate. She had a life, places to be, and as she had first thought, Elias wasn’t worth her time. “Wait- Amelia, what the fuck happened?”
He grasped her arm, stopping her in her tracks and making her jaw clench. “You’re really asking me that, Elias? After sending your assistant my way to threaten me?! Really?!”
Elias seemed confused as he let her words sink in, eyebrows furrowing. “Wait, what?”
“Oh, now you’re acting confused,” Amelia pressed, a look of disgust painting her features as she looked in his eyes. “I stole your ring?! Really?!”
Her words started to make sense just then, Elias’ eyes shutting as he realized what Deborah had done. She didn’t listen to him. “Listen, Amelia, I told Deborah I’d handle it, she didn’t listen,” his words didn’t seem to make a difference, though. Amelia was still furious, disbelief hiding behind her orbs. “I know you didn’t steal the ring, I don’t even know why Deborah thought you did,”
“You blew your last chance, Elias,” Amelia said, interrupting his monologue. “There was a reason why I was trying to stay away from you. You’re trouble,”
Her words hit the guitarist like a truck, his heart sinking to his stomach as he watched her leave without a single ‘goodbye’. As he stood in the middle of the park like a fool, he was left to his own thoughts.
She was right, was all he could think. He had been trouble ever since he had been a baby, so he wasn’t even blaming her for parting ways. He had brought chaos in her life, and she didn’t deserve it.
Elias blew his last chance, and there was nothing he could do about it. All he could do was to see if the universe would bring them back together.
But he didn’t have much hope left in him.
-----
Elias had never been a hopeful person. He had been stubborn his entire life, but not hopeful, and not patient either. He wasn’t one to hope and wait for the universe to send a signal his way, he preferred to find the signal as quickly as possible, on his own.
With Amelia, though, he had seemed to quiet down. He knew he had no more chances with her, and he wasn’t going to make himself hate her even more. He was going to be patient, he was going to be hopeful: everything his mother had always wished he could have been as a kid.
The Big Apple was as loud as it always was, the music from distant clubs sending shivers down his spine. Elias needed to move on, and getting back in the party scene was the best option for him to succeed.
The bouncer in front of the club took one look at him, not even checking his ID before letting him inside, the blue lights feeling like home as he entered the packed space. Everything felt familiar as he pushed towards the bar, trying to get one drink in before starting to bring back the real Elias, the one that didn’t let a random girl stop him from living his life.
“Rum and coke,”
It felt like a déjà vu as he ordered his drink, smiling at the bartender before letting his eyes roam around the crowd of people dancing. He needed to forget about Amelia, and that’s what he was going to do.
As he got handed the drink, he kept his eyes on the scene, blocking out every thought. He needed to have alcohol in him before the night could start. The liquid went down his throat quicker than he had expected, his glass hitting the counter before he could join the mass of bodies in the middle of the room.
He let his body get used to the beat, the music so loud he feared for his hearing. But it was what he wanted, what he had missed. He wanted to forget about Amelia, forget about her stupid red lipstick, and her stupidly perfect curves.
Elias had turned into a man he didn’t know after meeting her, and he needed to get back to who he originally was. He wasn’t going to let a woman he had met once turn him into a man he didn’t know.
So, he danced. He danced with a pretty stranger that got attached to his hip a few moments after he had joined the crowd on the dance floor. He offered her a drink, fantasized about her luscious red lips on his body, and then realized just who he was thinking about.
In his head, who was kissing his body wasn’t the blonde grinding against him. It was Amelia. He grabbed himself a shot, and another, sequentially ordering heavier drinks with every passing hour. He knew coping with alcohol was never going to be a good decision, but he couldn’t care less.
By the time the clock hit one in the morning, he was drunkenly kissing the blonde from the dance floor, screwing the idea of making his hookup sign an NDA. He hadn’t made Amelia sign one, either, so why was he supposed to bother?
The woman was in his bed naked, ready for him, and by the time he was on top of her, Amelia had left his mind. As he kissed down her body, he thought that Amelia had become part of his past.
But as he fucked the blonde, Amelia was all he thought about.
-
Elias woke up in distress, sharply inhaling air as he sat up on his bed, pushing the burning hot covers away from his heated body. The hotel room was still dark and, as he looked to his left, his heart started beating out of his chest, his breath shortening.
The blonde from the club was sleeping next to him, cuddled on her side with her hair sprawled over the pillow. She was peaceful next to him, too peaceful for Elias’ liking as he left the bed, throwing a shirt on.
The foreign feeling inside his body made him rush out of the room to clear his mind, the need to breathe in some fresh air so desperate he took the stairs. Waking up next to a stranger had never been a problem for him, sometimes it even led to morning sex, if he was lucky. He had never had a small panic attack over a hookup spending the night.
So, why did he leave the room?
As he nodded his head towards the night staff of the hotel and headed towards the doors, he checked his phone. It was well past three, the moon still high up in the sky as he found himself in the middle of Times Square.
The city was still loud even at that hour, with cars driving past him and people quietly talking. He was grateful to be in such a lively city, he couldn’t live in his own silence anymore.
Elias let his body move with no destination, walking around the streets with an empty mind as he hoped to understand what went down just a few minutes prior. Maybe he felt trapped, when he woke up next to the stranger; or maybe, it was just the panic of waking up next to someone he didn’t know.
Either ways, he couldn’t believe that had happened to him after years of letting himself fall into hookup culture. He couldn’t help himself but wonder if that was how Amelia had felt like when she had woken up next to him. At least, he hoped she didn’t, the feeling being truly overwhelming.
Elias’ legs stopped him in front of a Chinese restaurant, its dim lights on even at three in the morning. It was lightly populated inside, but a familiar mass of hair was what really caught his attention.
There was no red lipstick, no tight dress, but he could recognize that woman out of the rest of the population in the blink of an eye. Amelia was sitting right behind the glass wall, eating dumplings mindlessly as she scrolled through her phone.
Elias’ body filled with jitters as he froze. There was a moment where he asked himself if it would have been a good idea to join her inside, her disgusted words from that day in the park playing in his head like a broken record. You blew your last chance, Elias.
He pushed the overthinking aside, though, and entered the small shop. He ended up at the register in silence, ordering himself some noodles even if he wasn’t hungry. His eyes couldn’t leave Amelia’s frame as he waited for his food to be done, and by the time he had his bowl in hand, his nerves were ready to knock him out.
He dragged himself towards her lonely table, sitting right in front of her. “Hi,” was all he said, heart skipping a beat when her eyes met his.
He was relieved to see that her face didn’t take a look of disgust, rather displaying shock as she dropped her chopsticks. “Elias,” she mumbled, scratching her neck as she let her phone rest on the table. “What are you doing here?”
“Uh- woke up hungry,” he mumbled, knowing just how big of a liar he had become in the last two minutes. “How are you doing?”
“I’m doing okay,” Amelia said, plopping a dumpling in her mouth as she rested her chin on her palm. “You?”
“I’m fine,” he had just had a panic attack over a random girl, he wasn’t fine. Silence built up between them as they ate, the sounds of the kitchen behind them filling the air. The tension was still thick, but Elias felt relatively better for talking to her, it had been what he had hoped for for weeks.
“I’m sorry,” he blurted out, her eyes snapping from her food to his face. “For everything,”
Amelia stayed in silence, eyes layering with a cold look as she remembered what he had done. “I know a stupid apology won’t fix things, but I just wish we could try to make things work. Even just as friends,”
Elias didn’t know how to be just friends with someone, so why the hell was he blurting things out like that?
Amelia gave him a strange look, a look he couldn’t decipher, but eventually popped another dumpling in her mouth. “I don’t trust you, Elias,” she mumbled, mouth full. “Especially after that shitshow with the ring,”
“I know, and that was my mistake,” Elias pointed out, running a hand through his hair. “But I’ll do anything to have you back, I promise,”
Amelia chuckled breathily, shaking her head as she looked down. There was a moment of thinking - probably wondering whether it was a good idea to give him one last chance - before she talked. “You need to keep your hands off of me, drunk or not,”
Elias nodded, looking at her as she kept talking. “I don’t need to make another mistake like that,”
“Alright,” the man mumbled. “That’s all?”
“And don’t bring trouble in my life again,” Amelia added, pointing a finger his way. “You do that one more time and we’re done,”
Elias only nodded, letting his light orbs find hers as he bit his lip. “I won’t fuck up, this time,”
“I really hope you won’t,”
-----
Amelia didn’t know why she let herself cave in. She had promised herself to stay away from Elias and the mess that was his life, but his beaten up face at the restaurant was more than pitying. She didn’t know if he realized, but the bags under his eyes didn’t look too well, and neither did his hollowed cheeks.
Regret had washed over her when his feeling spilled through his words, and as she laid on her bed in the darkness of her room, she felt pity.
Had she been too harsh on him? The deal with his ring had clearly been a misunderstanding, so her holding grudges just seemed petty, from her point of view.
But she also couldn’t help but ask herself if she had made the right decision by taking him back, even as friends. He was a dangerous game, and she stubbornly kept going back to play, just to eventually get hurt.
Elias was impossible to figure out, but something inside her soul was pushing her to him, pushing her to understand him and his life. She wanted to see what he really was about, who he could be. As much as Amelia tried to hold back, she couldn’t help the curiosity that filled her body whenever she thought about the mysterious man.
Amelia’s phone vibrated from her side, screen being the only source of light inside the pitch black room. She took a moment to breathe out a sigh before letting her eyes focus on the device, the name on the screen making her heart skip a beat.
Talk about the devil, she thought.
Elias had just sent her a text, and she despised her heart for letting his minimal attention get to her. She was better than that.
Elias: It was nice seeing you again yesterday. Going to a club tmrw, wanna join? x
Amelia sighed again. Was she ready to get back into that? Into the life of the party that was Elias Lindholm?
Her brain was asking her to just stay home, avoid the darkness of the New York clubs and the buzz of the alcohol; but her heart was opposing: it wanted her to see Elias.
So, she gave in another time, telling herself it was going to be the last one before sending him back a small text of approval. She didn’t know whether she would regret it or not, but she knew she was going to have the time of her life.
At least, she hoped so.
-
“Dry martini.”
“Still don’t get how you can drink that shit,” Elias yelled in her ear right after Amelia ordered her drink. “Tastes like pure shit,”
“It’s classy,” Amelia explained with a smirk, thanking the bartender with a raise of her eyebrows before letting the alcohol burn her mouth.
Elias only chuckled, taking a sip of his own rum and coke, as he let his eyes travel over Amelia’s body. She cleaned up well in one of her tight dresses, her signature red lipstick making his cock stir inside his pants.
The night had started well, with them meeting in front of the club before joining the crowd inside. Elias had kept his hands to himself, pushed intrusive thoughts away, and let the night roll just like how he had expected it to do.
After two rounds of dancing and a second drink, his views had very much changed. Under the influence of the alcohol, all he could think about was Amelia and how stupidly hot she looked. In some ways, keeping his promise seemed more difficult than he had expected it to be.
“Elias? You still there?” Amelia waved a hand in front of his eyes, snapping him out of his trance. The guitarist laughed, nodding his head before letting his eyes focus on the scenery surrounding them.
A familiar face struck out to him in the middle of the crowd, and it was a matter of seconds before the man he had recognized walked closer to where Elias and Amelia stood.
Jake Bates was as tall as Elias remembered him to be, his beard neatly trimmed surrounding the smile that painted his face. He was intimidating, just like back in the days, and Elias felt more than happy to see his old friend again.
“Hey, man! Long time, no see!” The guitarist yelled over the music, sharing a hug with the tallest man Amelia had probably seen. “What are you doing here?”
“Just enjoying a night at the club,” Jake admitted. “Congrats on the new album, by the way,”
Elias chuckled, thanking him softly as he remembered about Amelia just then, letting his hand brush against her lower back. “Jake, this is Amelia,” the guitarist explained. “Amelia, this is my friend Jake. We used to play in the same band back in High School,”
Amelia’s eyes widened, her hand sticking out to shake Jake’s as she introduced herself. There was a moment before she looked up at Elias, the realization of what he had said hitting her. “You used to play?”
“I, uh- I still do,” Elias admitted, scratching the back of his head. “I’m the guitarist of a rock band, right now,”
“That’s cool,” Amelia mumbled, body filled with amazement at the new discovery. “And you, Jake? You still play, too?”
“Oh, no,” the man chuckled. “I’m a personal trainer, now,”
“That’s great, man,” Elias said, smiling his way before another woman interrupted the conversation.
“Babe, I’m heading out to smoke, I’ll be back in a sec,” she yelled in Jake’s direction, smiling gingerly at Amelia and Elias.
“I’m coming with you, just lemme say goodbye,”
Jake turned around to face the old friend and the new acquaintance, wishing them a good night before leaving them on their own at the bar in silence. The music was still loud as they finished their drinks, both in their own heads.
Amelia thought she was stupid. She had just become friends with Elias, and still didn’t know anything about him. Hell, she didn’t even know if being a guitarist was a job or a hobby, for him. How could she maintain a friendship with him if she was in the dark about his life?
“So… you play?” Amelia asked with her last ounce of courage, looking up at Elias’ light eyes as she let herself focus on him.
“Electric guitar, yeah,” he mumbled, tipping his head back to finish his drink. “I just recently finished a world tour,”
“Woah,” the woman muttered, a hint of amazement in her voice as the bullet points inside her head started to make sense: he had a personal assistant, he had no trouble partying every night, he stayed at one of the most expensive hotels in New York. Elias could be considered the life of the party, but Amelia realized he was just living the life of a rock star.
“You never told me what you do,” Elias changed the topic, making Amelia become the center of the conversation. “I’ve just seen you around at night,”
Amelia chuckled, calling the bartender over for a couple of shots. “I own a haircare shop, so we sell products for any kind of hair,” she stated, pushing three shot glasses Elias’ way. “Straight, wavy, curly, braids, wigs,”
Elias hummed, smiling her way as he downed his first shot, waiting for her to follow along. The tequila was burning his throat, but the sweet sight of Amelia’s features was enough to make him feel numb.
She was slowly letting lose thanks to the alcohol, becoming the carefree woman Elias had met on their first encounter, and there was nothing in the world that could stop his heart from beating as quickly as it did.
Amelia threw her head back, finishing her last shots just to frown lightly. The music suddenly changed, a squeal leaving the woman’s lips as soon as the darker melody entered her ears. “I fucking love this song!” She yelled. “I’m going dancing,”
Elias only chuckled, watching her hips sway as she left his side and joined the crowd on the dance floor. She let the music embrace her softly, her body moving to the beat as she lightly sang. The red lights of the club illuminated her face in the best way, putting her features on display as Elias stared at her, as if she was the only woman in the world.
It became painfully hard to just watch, Elias’ body trembling with need. He needed to be close to her, to feel her, to touch her. Flashbacks of their night together appeared in his mind, sending him in a frenzy as he let the autopilot take over.
He downed his last shot, leaving the countertop to reach the dance floor. The music was easy to follow as he snuck past people to reach Amelia. Her dark dress was everything he could focus on, and when he was able to let his hands rest on her waist, it felt like the whole world stopped.
It felt like they were alone in the middle of the dance floor, dancing the tension away, Amelia’s body so close to his he could barely breathe. Every thought about the promise he had made seemed to disappear from his mind, all he could think about being Amelia and her body under his. He couldn’t help his needs anymore, and she didn’t seem to mind his attention.
“Fuck,” he whispered in her ear, breathing ragged as he pulled her closer. “Amelia, what are you doing to me?”
She laughed giddily, letting her arms wrap around his neck as her back hit his chest. The need to lean down and press a kiss to her neck was burning Elias alive, but Amelia let all the sexual tension fade when she turned around and kissed him with everything she had.
Her lips were as hungry as Elias remembered them to be, and as he let his palms slide against the curve of her ass, he couldn’t help the feeling of déjà vu. “Bring me home, Elias,” she whispered seductively in his ear, letting her palms slide down his chest.
Realization seemed to hit him just then: the promise, his last chance. “Amelia-”
“Please, I want this, Elias,” she muttered, biting on her lip. She didn’t know what - or who - was possessing her body, but she knew she would regret it in the morning. Her body needed him, though, and she wasn’t thinking straight anymore. “I can’t keep myself away from you,”
Her consent was all he needed to tug her away from the scene, getting inside the first taxi leading to his hotel. With burning hands and heated bodies, they struggled to make their way inside his room. Drunk giggles were leaving their lips as Elias opened his door, locking it behind the two of them before he could lay Amelia on his bed, kissing her lips like he wanted to rock her world.
With her body sat right on the edge of the mattress, Elias fell to his knees, letting his lips find the crook of her neck, slowly moving to her chest. His kisses reached her breasts, fingers eagerly ripping her dress apart.
“Elias! I fucking loved this dress!” She whined, a low moan leaving her lips when his mouth found one of her nipples, interrupting her train of thoughts.
“I’ll buy you a new one,” he muttered, out of breath. “Fuck, I’ll buy you the whole store,”
His hands sneakily found her underwear, pushing it down her legs as he kissed her stomach, spreading her thighs to take a good look at her center. She was glistening - ready for him -, and every ounce of responsibility in Elias’ mind seemed to disappear.
He blew cold air on her clit, loving the whine that left her lips at the denied pleasure. Elias chuckled darkly, letting his head dip down until his lips closed around Amelia’s clit. She breathed out a sigh, fingers carding through his messy curls as all the tension left her body.
The alcohol had gotten to her head, but she was sincere when she admitted to herself that she was more than conscious at that moment. His mouth on her heat was making her see stars, and all she could do was moan.
“Elias-” Amelia breathed out, the ghost of his fingers over her entrance making her strangle a scream.
The man only smirked, letting his eyes meet hers as he gave her bundle of nerves another suck, her moans becoming music to his ears. Eating her out felt like paradise, and all Elias was missing was to see her cum.
His goal was to have her at his mercy, totally helpless as she orgasmed around his fingers. All he wanted was to feel her, touch her, call her his own. He shrugged the last thought off as he inserted a finger in her wetness, her moan making his cock stir.
“Elias, I can’t-”
“Cum for me, princess,” he whispered against her pussy. “Let go,”
Amelia was able to take in a shaky breath before the most powerful orgasm she had ever felt had her body shaking. Her walls squeezed around Elias’ fingers as his mouth lapped up her juices, a proud smirk on his lips when he looked up at her.
Amelia eagerly cupped his cheeks, pulling him close and kissing him hungrily. She moaned at the taste of herself on his lips, her hands traveling south to strip Elias of his pants. She needed to feel him close, to feel him inside her again.
“This is the last time, Elias,” she whispered between kisses, knowing damn well she was lying to herself. “This is the last time,”
-
“Fucking hell-” Amelia hissed, her hand rubbing against her aching forehead. Rays of sunlight entered the hotel room, making her tired eyes squint. She breathed out a sigh, turning on her back as her thumb rubbed the skin of Elias’ arm on her waist.
As much as she hated herself for spending the night again, she couldn’t hold herself back from taking a moment to relax next to the guitarist, the events of the previous nights replaying inside her head.
The panic she had felt the first time she’d slept with Elias was nonexistent, at that moment. She didn’t feel the need to run away, to hide from him and hope to never see him again. She wanted to enjoy his closeness one last time, and she didn’t care it might make her look smitten.
Her heart skipped a beat when she looked to her side, noticing Elias was still asleep on his stomach, lips pulled in an involuntary pout. The thought of waking up next to him every morning found its way inside her brain, her chest filling with warmth as she let herself daydream. Because it was going to be just a daydream.
Amelia’s free hand tangled itself in his hair, softly massaging his scalp as a sense of peace made her blow out a sigh. Her eyes fell on the nearest clock just when Elias started to stir, a groan leaving his lips.
“Keep doing that,” he mumbled groggily, referring to Amelia’s motions on his scalp.
“Good morning to you, too,” Amelia giggled, fondly looking down at him, heart speeding up. His light eyes held tiredness as he looked at her, but she thought the look suited him, in some way.
“What time is it?”
“A little past nine,” she whispered, remembering a shipment of products was supposed to arrive by ten, the need to open the shop making her sigh. She wished she could spend the entire day in bed with Elias, her own thought leaving her quite shocked. How did she go from being cold, heartless towards the man sleeping next to her, to wishing to spend the day with him in the span of one night? She truly didn’t know if there was something wrong with her.
“Just in time for breakfast,” Elias muttered, sitting up against the bed frame and pulling Amelia closer to his body.
“I, uh- I’ve got to go open the store,” she mumbled. “It’s just Tuesday, you know,”
“Right,” Elias sighed, watching her as she awkwardly rolled out of bed. She started to search for her dress, at least until the guitarist pushed himself out of the bed too, opening the dresser and pushing some clothes her way. “Wear these, I can’t let you work in that dress,”
“Thank you,” Amelia said, voice a whisper as she let her eyes meet his. Tension filled the distance between them as Amelia pulled the large sweats and shirt over her body, thankful for the comfort they brought to her. Wearing the dress to work would have been an uncomfortable experience - especially if paired with a migraine -, and she was thankful Elias thought about it before she could.
Meanwhile, the guitarist was inside the en-suite, brushing his teeth as his eyes focused on her mirror reflection. “I owe you breakfast,” he slurred through the mouthful of toothpaste, spitting it out just after finishing his sentence. “Twice,”
“We’ll find a day to do that,” Amelia mumbled, joining him in front of the mirror to figure her hair out. She pulled it in a quick ponytail, walking back inside the main room to grab her purse and the rest of her belongings. “I just really have to go now,”
Elias nodded his head, joining her just to let his hands cup her cheeks, pulling her close for a gentle kiss. “Text when you get there,” he whispered, pulling away to kiss her forehead.
Amelia’s heart was ready to give out on her after his actions, her body automatically giving him a shaky nod before she headed towards the door, saying a weak ‘goodbye’. As she left the hotel, all she could think about was the way the morning had played out, how gentle Elias had been.
A little voice inside her head told her she could get used to it, but she shrugged it off. Loving a man like Elias unconditionally would lead to trouble, and she knew it. But if the moments she had just lived were part of what loving him would be like, then all she wanted was to be his.
To be his, unconditionally.
-----
Amelia didn’t expect it to go that far. She expected it to happen two times - both drunk and in need of release -, but she didn’t expect Elias to be that addicting. His voice, his touch, his kisses: they had all become something she couldn’t live without.
She found herself thinking about him at work, under the shower, right before bed, and she couldn’t even think of a life without him. To think she hated him, just a few months prior.
Amelia found herself accustomed to his hotel bed, spending more nights there than on her own, and Elias wasn’t one to push her away. She didn’t think he could. The way she looked at him - the same way he looked at her - was not usually how people looked at their one-night-stands - or friends-with-benefits, if you wanted to call it that.
To say she was confused was an understatement. The feelings inside her chest were something she hadn’t experienced before. They were called love, said an article online, and she had despised the word from the moment she had first seen it.
Amelia wasn’t ready to love Elias. Heck, she wasn’t ready to love, at all.
But when he looked at her, had sex with her, talked to her, all she could think about was love. As she headed towards the Kimpton Muse, under the streetlights and the New York moon, she wondered whether it was a good idea or not to be playing such a dangerous game. Opening herself up for him, letting him see all of her fragile parts, becoming vulnerable - it wasn’t something she wanted to do.
All the nights - and the morning after their second hookup especially - they had spent together had just been multiple mistakes. So, she entered the hotel with a task: making it clear that she wanted nothing to happen.
Amelia waved at the cute clerk down the hall, whose smile reached his eyes as he watched her pass by, before she headed towards the elevators. She didn’t exactly know why she was that nervous, but as she walked towards Elias’ room, she couldn’t help her hands from shaking.
There were slight sounds coming from his room, but she shrugged them off. When she reached his door, the sounds became more clear, more loud. They sounded like whimpers, grumbles of his voice occasionally reaching Amelia’s ears too.
She knocked. No response. She knocked a second time, waiting for anything to happen. Just when she was about to knock a third time, the door opened, revealing a disheveled Elias.
His pupils were dilated - their darkness replacing the light color of his orbs -, his lips were swollen, red, hair a knotty mess on top of his head. He gave her a once-over, the smirk Amelia knew so well painting his lips.
“Hey,” just his first waft of breath was enough to make her face scrunch. He smelled like pure alcohol, and even with one word she could tell he was slurring.
“Are you drunk?” Amelia asked with a whisper, looking around the hallway to see if anyone was around. She didn’t want the other rich patrons to see him in that state. Elias only laughed, nodding slightly.
“I also had some weed, such a shame you weren’t there to try it with me,” he slurred.
“Let’s get you back inside,” Amelia sighed, trying to push the door open just to be stopped by a loud yell.
“No!” Elias said, his own loud voice making him flinch. “No, don’t come in. Please, princess,”
His words had Amelia’s brows furrowing. She had been in his room countless times, why was he holding her back from entering? She had seen the hotel room in its messiest state, what was he worrying about?
“Elias, I can’t have people seeing you like this,” Amelia whispered, using just a small amount of force to let herself walk in. He was weaker than she had imagined him to be, letting her hands cup his cheeks to examine him quickly.
“Took you long, tiger,”
The voice was foreign in Amelia’s ears, the seductive tone sending shivers down her spine. She looked to her left, eyes falling on the messy king-sized bed where a much-sober girl was kneeling, half-naked.
The way Amelia’s heart fell to her stomach had her knees almost giving up on her. She gave the woman a quick look before glancing back at Elias, voice small. “I’ll, uh- I’ll leave you to that,”
“Amelia-”
“No, get back, Elias,” she whispered, the anger inside her staying at bay just because he was under the influence, basically unconscious. “I don’t- I don’t have time for this. Goodbye,”
Amelia was out of his room as quickly as she had entered, heart pounding. She found him with another girl. She walked inside the elevator in shock, eyes glazing with a set of tears she didn’t want to spill.
He didn’t deserve her tears, her attention even less.
That’s what she meant when she thought that loving him was going to be a mistake. At one point, she knew one of them would fuck up, break the other person’s heart, and then leave. That’s what she had foreseen, and that’s what had happened.
She had caught him with someone else and, even if they weren’t in a relationship, it hurt. Amelia didn’t know if what she was feeling for Elias was really love, but her reaction to heartbreak was enough to answer all her questions.
Throughout her month of being Elias’ friend-with-benefits, Amelia had fallen in love with him. She was admitting it.
One lone tear slid down her cheek just as the elevator’s doors opened, revealing the quite empty hall of the hotel. Amelia wiped her skin, taking a deep breath before starting to make her way out. A familiar voice caught her before she could leave, the dark, slicked-back hair she had grown to recognize appearing in front of her.
“Hi, Amelia,” Andrew, the clerk she had waved to just a few minutes prior - and also had talked to whenever she was at the hotel, waiting for a cab to get back home -, said. “How are you doing?”
“I’ve been better,” she chuckled sadly, running a hand through her hair. “What’s up, Andrew? I’m in kind of a rush,”
Andrew took a second to look at her, clearing his throat. “I was wondering if you were free tomorrow? There’s this new place in the Upper West Side, and I thought we could go there together?”
The sudden invite had Amelia shocked for a quick second, her eyes widening slightly before she could nod her head. She was going on a date. With someone that wasn’t Elias. “Uh- yes! Sure!”
Andrew smiled, it reached his eyes. He pushed a stray hair out of her face before slipping her his number, the smile still on his face. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then. Text me,”
He left Amelia on her own in the middle of the hall to get back to work, her heart hammering against her rib cage. She was going on a date with someone she genuinely liked, and it wasn’t even out of spite.
The events with Elias were quick to leave her mind as she thought about Andrew and how he had asked her out. Elias hadn’t even done that. She breathed out a sigh as she left the Kimpton Muse, heading back home for the night.
After what happened with Elias, all she needed was to move on. And Andrew was just the right person to do that with.
-
Amelia hadn’t been on a date in years. The last time she had been wined-and-dined had been more than a year prior to her date with Andrew, and it felt good to be back in the dating scene.
The restaurant Andrew had brought her to was the right amount of fancy, with finely dressed waiters and good food she would remember for a lifetime. The prices were affordable, and the wine was divine. It was the perfect place for a date, and the guy in front of her was the perfect date.
He had picked her up, helped her sit down at their table, and Amelia was pretty sure he was going to pay for her dinner. And he was listening to her, genuinely interested in what she was talking about, something Elias rarely did. He wasn’t one for talking.
Amelia shook her head at her brain’s mention of Elias, giving herself a mental slap for even thinking about him. She had a wonderful man in front of her, and there should have been no space for Elias during the date.
“I mean, the hotel is pretty crazy, right now,” Andrew kept talking, playing with the edge of his napkin as he did so. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but there has been trouble with the employees and I’ve basically been reassigned,”
“Reassigned?” Amelia asked with a frown, tone coating with curiosity.
“I’m still at the check-in station, but we’ve lost the bartender due to an argument with our boss; so now I’m a bartender, I guess?”
Amelia giggled, shaking her head at the craziness of the situation. “So now you have to learn all those complicated drinks?”
“Yes,” Andrew groaned, burying his face in his hands before peeking at her through the gap between his fingers. “And all the rich entrepreneurs always ask for the most intricate shit. Like, man, I’m from the Bronx. I don’t even know where to begin with that Upper East Side bullshit,”
His last sentence made Amelia laugh, louder than she had laughed in what felt like ages. She was having fun, and the night felt young. Her phone - which had been long forgotten inside her clutch for the entirety of the evening - seemed to snap back to reality with its loud ringtone, Amelia’s eyebrows furrowing.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, heart skipping a beat when Andrew waved off her apology. He let his chin rest on the palm of his hand as he admired her, watching attentively the way her face scrunched into a frown after reading the name on the screen.
Elias.
Amelia didn’t know whether answering was the right choice to do. Her heart - as gentle as it had always been -, begged her to swipe right, ask why he was calling. Her brain, though, reminded her she was in the middle of a date, with a guy that actually cared. So she swiped left, her phone became silent again, and she put it back in her clutch.
Amelia couldn’t even open her mouth to restart the conversation before the ringtone bothered her and the rest of the restaurant-goers a second time. Another string of apologies left her mouth as he scrambled for her phone.
“You should probably take it,” Andrew mumbled, pointing towards the device with a tight-lipped smile.
Amelia nodded, that time swiping right and pressing the phone to her ear. “What do you want?” She asked, words quick, voice cold.
“To apologize, I don’t know what happened to me last night,” Elias stated, sounding more than tired. “And I owe you an explanation,”
“I don’t need an explanation,” the woman stated. “I have to go, I’m busy, right now,”
“Too busy for me? Why don’t you come over?” The cocky tone of his voice made Amelia roll her eyes. “I can apologize to you and then we can make up the adult way,”
Amelia’s nostrils flared as anger filled her system, a fist balling under the table. “I don’t have time for you,”
“Where are you? I can send a car to pick you up,”
“I’m on a date, Elias,” Amelia spat out, voice coated with anger. “And I’d very appreciate if you’d stop calling me, right now,”
There was silence on his end, Amelia breathing heavily after her small rant. She clenched her jaw, too angry to be faced with his silence. “Goodbye,”
She ended the call, putting her phone on silent before sliding it inside her clutch again, taking a deep breath before looking back up at Andrew. “I’m sorry, let’s just pretend this didn’t happen,”
“An ex calling you up again?” Andrew asked, a smile on his lips.
Elias wasn’t exactly an ex, but Amelia felt like she could consider him so. They had had a friends-with-benefits relationship - that partially leaned into more from her side, apparently -, he had broken her heart, and she was done with him. Too many times had she given him a second chance, he didn’t deserve her anymore.
“Yeah, I guess so,” she answered, taking a sip of her wine. “Back to you, though. You were saying?”
The night went back in full swing, the conversation with Elias long forgotten after a few minutes as Andrew and Amelia went back to their own world. Amelia’s forgotten phone lit up in her purse with a text she would eventually see at the end of the date, a text from Elias.
I really owe you an apology. Tomorrow night, Kimpton Muse.
-
Elias wasn’t happy. He hadn’t been happy for a while.
The hotel room was as plain as it had always been, but he seemed to realize it just then, while being in a state of numbness. The bags under his eyes were more prominent than he had thought they would be, and his hair had reached a state where it was impossible to fix.
He had closed himself up in his room after the night, and he wasn’t ready to leave it. If anyone of his bandmates had seen him in that state, he wouldn’t have lived another day in peace. He felt delusional, not just because he couldn’t get out of bed to even take a shower, but because he ruined the best relationship he had ever had with someone.
Amelia had become the ray of sunlight in his dark life, she had brought happiness to his depressing days stuck in his hotel room, and she had become his person. It was too bad he couldn’t figure out how to treat her correctly.
It was the way he couldn’t control his own self from being the careless asshole he really was that had pushed her to go on a date with someone else, and he had lost her. He was sure about that.
At eleven, he was lying in his bed in a pair of sweats and a wifebeater. His suitcase was packed, resting beside him on the bedside table was a ticket to Calgary, a ticket to go back home if things with Amelia didn’t fix.
He was tired of staying in a hotel room that didn’t feel like home, he was tired of New York, and he couldn’t live with his embarrassment anymore. He wanted to go back home and build himself a new life. If he was lucky, with Amelia.
Her name brought back memories inside his head, like the day they had spent in bed naked, together; or the time she talked about her family to him. Memories he hoped to relive, maybe more than once.
As much as Elias had hoped to see Amelia one last time, the knock on his door came as a shock. He didn’t think he’d be able to see her one last time, and he most certainly didn’t deserve to even give her an apology, that’s what his mind kept telling him.
He scrambled towards the door, trying to hide the empty beer bottles littering the floor behind the closest curtains. He didn’t want her to see the mess he had become. When he opened the wooden door, the sight of the girl he had grown to love - even if he didn’t show it - made his heart skip a beat.
“Hi,”
“Hi,” Amelia reciprocated the greeting, voice cold.
“Uh- come in,”
As Elias opened the door wider for her, he hoped she couldn’t see just what he had become after the night. Amelia didn’t take a seat on the couch, and neither on the armchair, so he stayed on his feet, too.
Silence filled the air as he watched her arms fold over her chest, her mouth in a thin line. It was clear that she didn’t want to be there, in front of him.
“I’m sorry,” Elias started, biting the insides of his cheek when Amelia’s jaw clenched. “I fucked up. That night was a mistake,”
“Just that night?” Amelia spat out, a dry chuckle leaving her lips. “You think that only that night was a mistake?”
Elias didn’t answer her questions, taking a moment to think of what to say. “I went to a house party and got shitfaced because I couldn’t help it. I- I was confused,”
“Elias, you called me,” Amelia hissed. “You called me when you were drunk in your room, asked me to join you, and then I had to be faced with the reality that I was right all along. Nothing ends well with you,”
The information spilling out of the woman’s mouth was new. He had called her? In his hungover head, she had come over out of the blue, catching him in the middle of something with a girl he didn’t even know the name of. “I called you?”
“You did,” Amelia said. “And I came over to help you, Elias. I came over to take care of you for the night, because I knew you wouldn’t, you never do,”
Her words made his heart clench, regret making his eyes blurry with tears. “I’m sorry,”
“I thought we could have had something,” Amelia whispered. “I really thought we could. I was ready to give you my world, help you become the best version of you,”
“Why would you do that for me?” Elias asked, body numb as he let his back slide against the wall, his body hitting the floor soon after.
“Because you deserve to be loved, too,” Amelia sniffled, a lone tear slipping down her cheek as she looked down at him. “And I loved you. Well, I still do, I guess,”
Elias’ eyes closed as soon as the words left her mouth. Regret, pain, heartache, all wrecked his body into little pieces as he tried to stay calm, the pain in her tone punctuating the truth behind her words.
“But this can’t work out,” she whispered, her own hand wiping her tears away as she took in a shaky breath.
As much as Elias wanted to understand where she was coming from, he didn’t want to see her go. He wasn’t ready to let her leave his life that quickly. He had fucked up, but something in him took over, something that could fix the mess that he had started. “It can, Amelia. We can make it work,”
Her jaw clenched, the heartbreak she was feeling slowly turning into anger. “This is one of the reasons we wouldn’t work, Elias,” she spat out. “You can’t take a no,”
“Come to Calgary with me,” he ignored her words, lifting himself up from the ground to grasp her hands. She pushed him away with a scroll, a look of disgust on her face. “We can start from zero over there, I’m sure we could work out,”
“I have a fucking life, Elias,” Amelia raised her voice, not caring if she looked crazy. “You think I’m going to drop everything for you? After everything you’ve done to me?”
“You could open a store over there, and we could live together in an apartment,”
“Oh. My. God,” she scoffed. “Do you hear yourself? My store is here, Elias. My people are here, and so is the guy I have a chance to date. I’m not going to leave just to make you happy,”
Her words felt like a slap to the man’s face. She didn’t want him, and he didn’t get the second chance he had begged for. He didn’t know why he had turned into such a selfish asshole by the time the conversation had shifted, but he regretted it. There was no way he could fix what he had done, and he knew it. No apology would make her change her mind.
“Amelia-”
“Loving you was a mistake,” she stated, taking a look around the room before heading towards the door. “I was just too dumb to see it,”
Her words seemed to engrave themselves inside Elias’ mind as he watched her leave, ending their conversation, and the relationship they had built as well. Elias was left on his own once more, regret making the tears that had coated his eyes fall down his cheeks.
He didn’t know what happened to him, what had gone through his head when he had proposed to her to leave the world behind and start from zero. Amelia had always been an independent woman, and he knew he had fucked up the moment her nostrils had flared. There was no coming back, though, that time.
So he made himself courage, grabbed his phone and called for a taxi. He looked at the plane ticket from the distance, grabbing it just after a few minutes of thinking before zipping up his suitcase.
Elias used the phone inside the room to order room service. He felt numb as the hums of the line rang through his head, emptying his brain of any thought. The voice of a man snapped him out of his trance, his voice cutting the clerk off. “A dry martini,”
“Loving you was a mistake,” her words still rang through his head as he ended the call, their truth making his heart clench. He was unlovable, and it was all his fault. “I was just too dumb to see it,”

The Monster Was Mortal
Fandom: PJO/HOO
Pairing: Percy x Annabeth
Genre: hurt/comfort, fluff
Trigger warning: Descriptions of child abuse
Rating: T for language and description of child abuse
Summary: Set about two months after TLO. Instead of going back to camp or California for a long holiday weekend, Annabeth stays at the Jackson/Blofish apartment and ends up learning something new about Percy.
A scream filled the small apartment, waking Annabeth at a quarter till three in the morning. It was a scream that she knew well and still sent her heart plummeting to her toes. Percy. She snatched her knife from the bedside table, prepared to single-handedly take down whatever monster was tormenting him. The door hit the wall with a thud as Annabeth dropped into a fighting stance. But there was nothing there for her to slash at. In the dark, it took a moment for her to see Percy huddled in the corner of his room. With no monster to fight, she sheathed the dagger setting it on his desk.
"Percy," she asked, frightened by the way he stared straight through her. She dropped to her knees in front of him and tried to take grab his shoulder.
"Don't touch me!" He shouted and pushed her hand away, curling further into his corner. "Don't hurt me."
Annabeth recoiled, hurt and scared. Why would he think she'd hurt him? She was at a loss for what to do. Sally quietly came into the room having also been woken up with the screaming. Waking up to her son's nightmares was unfortunately not a new occurrence. Annabeth slid back to sit against his bed giving Sally space. Numb, she watched the woman gently cradle Percy's face turning his gaze toward her. The vacant look in his eyes made Annabeth queasy.
“Sweetheart,” Sally gently called as if she were speaking to a cornered animal. “You're okay. He isn't here anymore. He's gone and he'll never hurt you again. We won't hurt you okay? Annabeth isn't going to hurt you.”
“Annabeth?” he asked finally seeing her clearly. She sank to her knees beside Sally and reached a hand out hoping he didn't smack it away this time. He clutched her to him, shaking and crying.
Annabeth thought it must have been a quest vision, a bad one, but Sally knew the differences in her son's nightmares. After a light kiss to the top of his head, she stepped out of the room knowing the conversation the pair needed to have. Percy told her weeks ago of his intention to tell Annabeth about Gabe one day, but the relationship was still new despite all the things they had faced together, despite knowing each other for four years. He was still a little afraid and embarrassed by what happened to him no matter how many times Sally assured him it wasn't his fault. It broke her heart her baby had to do this at all.
His sobs slowed to sniffles against her shoulder. Realizing he must have woken up half the building, his cheeks flushed.
“I'm sorry I woke you up,” he mumbled, trying to pull away. Her fingers laced through his dark hair in a soothing gesture, keeping him close to her.
“No, Percy, you don't have to apologize. But why did you think I'd hurt you?” She tried to keep her voice even, but the pain and desperation still seeped in. “I would never hurt you, not on purpose. You know that right?”
Percy of course did know that. There were plenty of bruises and scrapes from sparing practice, but neither would ever intentionally inflict pain on the other. His grip tightened around the fabric of her shirt, painfully aware there would be no walking this back.
“It wasn't you I thought would hurt me.” Silence permeated the space as the couple clung to each other. After another calming breath, he admitted “I thought Gabe was still here.”
“Gabe? Smelly Gabe?” she asked not understanding why Percy would have a nightmare about him. He nodded mutely against her collar.
Suddenly, Annabeth realized she didn't know much about his former stepfather. She knew the nickname Smelly Gabe and that he was no longer in the picture, but nothing more. Her mind was turning, processing the information that Percy was afraid, deathly afraid of this man.
“You thought that Gabe was here and gonna hurt you.” It came out as a statement instead of a question. The pieces all clicked together in Annabeth's mind. Her sweet, kind, wonderful Percy had been abused as a child.
“He used to hit me.” He confirmed needing to finally tell someone. For years, he tried masking the trauma through sarcasm and jokes. Letting Annabeth see this side would be a big step, one he didn't know how she'd react to. The carefully crafted persona he had hidden behind for years would never fit again around her.
“A lot,” he continued. “If something didn't go his way it was my fault somehow. He lost his poker game or get fired from a job. So he'd take his anger out on me. With his fists or a belt. Sometimes beer bottles.”
Annabeth's vision blurred into swirls of red. Blood red. Gabe's vile red blood spilled for even touching her boyfriend. She had heard of the metaphor of seeing red but had never experienced that type of all-consuming rage before. Her whole body tensed looking for the threat, ready to cut it down. Instead, she clutched Percy closer assuring herself that he was safe in her arms. She would make sure he was safe.
“My nightmare was about him. He came back and had me down on the ground kicking me. And suddenly it was like I was six again and couldn't do anything but try and protect my head.”
Bile rose in her throat as she clinched the back of his shirt trying to control her rage. Six. Percy remembered being kicked by a full-grown man at six years old. Annabeth had faced a lot of monsters in her sixteen years, but nothing as vile as this despicable mortal. If he was willing to kick a six-year-old, she couldn't bear to speculate what he may have done to Percy as he got older and more willful. She wasn't sure if mortals could end up in Tartarus, but she prayed to Hades this one did.
“It's kinda funny,” he laughed slightly manic against her neck. Annabeth couldn't see anything funny relating to this situation, but she didn't interrupt choosing instead to place an encouraging kiss on his temple. “I can't even remember which monsters gave me what scars, but I remember every mark Gabe ever gave me.”
She wanted to scream and lash out at whoever let this happen to him but instead decided to redirect the anger into comfort. Subconsciously, her fingers found a scar that ran the length of his bicep, gently tracing the puckered skin.
“Monster,” he murmured, and she knew this would be how she could get him to open up and tell her the details.
“He's a monster too,” she insisted. The beast of a man was more monster than the ones they fought with celestial bronze in her opinion. Monsters were born to hunt and kill demigods. This man chose violence and pain.
“Fine, Greek,” he conceded too tired to argue, especially not when he agreed.
She nodded approving of the term. Her fingers drifted down to a cluster of small circular marks on his forearm. The muscle stiffened under her touch, but he told her how the scars came to be.
“Cigarette,” he said, confirming her suspicions. “I didn't dump his ashtray the night before so he said I'd be his new ash tray.”
“How old were you?” As soon as she asked, Annabeth wished she hadn't. It didn't matter how old he was. Putting a lit cigarette out on someone of any age was horrendous.
“Four,” he whispered, burying his face into her shoulder. She very well almost stopped there unsure if she was strong enough to hear this. But then Percy shuddered and fisted the fabric at her back. He needed her then, and she wouldn't back down. He needed to unburden himself, and he was choosing to confide in her. So she continued, her fingers dancing across his skin until she came to a scar. They spent an hour like that until all the visible scars were cataloged.
Her hand trailed timidly down to the hem of his shirt. She had seen scars on his back and chest before at camp, chalking it up to monster attacks, but now she questioned everything she knew. When he gave her the smallest nod pressing his head down into her shoulder, she slid her hands under his shirt. At first, she simply pressed her palms to his Achilles heel hoping to lend some strength and comfort. After a long moment, his grip on her shirt lessened, and she continued her search across his back.
As he opened up at each gentle touch, the flood gate widened, rushing to purge his soul of the poison he had bottled up for years. Just as she thought there wasn't room for any more scars, he guided her hand back to a set of slash marks across his ribs that she had missed, where the broken edges of a beer bottle had cut into the skin.
Once the last scar was accounted for, they continued sitting on the floor of his room wrapped in each other's embrace. Her hands lay clasped at the small of his back as he continued telling her about the abuse, about the incidents that didn't leave a visible mark on him. He told her about the time Gabe knocked him unconscious after tossing him too hard into a wall. And the time the man broke his nose by throwing a book Percy had left on the kitchen table before a poker night. The words flowed from his lips like a spring rushing to leave as quickly as possible. Stories he had long forgotten came to the surface, ones he hadn't even told his mom about. The way her fingers gently kneaded into his lower back and the frequent kisses she pressed into his hair comforted him in a way he hadn't felt before. Once he finished telling her about what he knew Gabe would do to him for wrecking his car, Percy didn't quite know what else to say.
“Annabeth,” he asked, quiet and meek. The brokenness of his voice pierced her heart. “Please. Say something,” he begged.
“I'm gonna murder him,” Annabeth confessed with the confidence of a girl who had stared down Titans and won. “I'm gonna kill him for ever laying a hand on you.”
“You aren't ashamed of me? Hero of Olympus and I let some mortal bast-”
Her lips fell on his silencing him. He clutched her to him, kissing her with a desperation he hadn't felt since Silena had called telling him to bring a healer for her during the Titan War. His hand gripped her pulling her tightly against him and pressing into her own lower back, the same spot as his Achilles heel. The warmth of his hand against her exposed skin was the most comforting gesture she'd ever experienced making her wonder if that was the feeling she gave him every time her hand touched his back. Slowly, she backed out of the kiss stroking his cheek, her intense gaze penetrating his soul.
“You didn’t let him do anything. You were a kid, Percy. He was an adult, a parent figure in your life, someone you should have been able to trust and feel safe with. And, gods, you were just a kid. My stepmother never liked me, but I never felt unsafe with her. I can't even imagine.”
She pulled Percy back to her, clinging to him. Someone had hurt her precious seaweed brain when he was defenseless, and it made her sick that she hadn't been able to protect him. Anger couldn't quite cover the feeling boiling in her blood. Nine years of combat training and she wanted nothing more than to use every bit of it on this scum.
“I know you have questions,” he sighed reluctantly pulling away to look at her. Her face was flushed from anger, and tears swelled in her eyes. He hated being the one to put that look of mixed concern and anger on her beautiful face. “It's okay. I owe you answers.”
For once, and she would never admit it aloud, Annabeth wasn't sure she wanted answers. Her mouth worked up and down, searching for questions that wouldn't come.
“You don't owe me anything. You don't have to say anything you don't want to.”
“I want to,” he assured her, taking her hands in his. “I mean, I want you to ask whatever you want to know.”
“Why did you never tell me?” she whispered, asking the question that hurt the most. It wasn't that she thought he owed her anything, but after opening up to him, to only him, about her own family life, it stung to think he hadn't trusted her with this. As soon as she thought it, she swallowed the idea guiltily. It was selfish to think she was entitled to know that part of him just because she had opened up to him about her own trauma. She did think now, however, he would have been comfortable enough with her to tell her.
“How do you even start a conversation like that? 'Hey Annabeth, it's been a month since I survived my death date, wanna hear about my bastard ex-stepfather that used to beat the shit out of me? I think it's a good second date conversation.' Doesn't exactly pair well with dinner and movie, does it?”
“Percy-”
“I know,” he sighed wearily giving her hands an apologetic squeeze. “I know. I should have- I just. I never knew how. I almost told you in the zoo truck but then we stopped by the time I got the courage. And when I got back again, well he was gone. It was over. I wasn't trying to keep it from you, I swear. It just never came up until now.”
Another thought, a worry, suddenly made her stomach drop. She dropped one of his hands to traced his cheek.
“When I've punched you or teased, I wasn't. I mean I hope I didn't-”
“Annabeth I know you were just messing with me. I never took it as anything but that, promise. So don't you dare stop calling me Seaweed Brain now, Wise Girl.” He gave her a smile that melted her worries. Of course, he would be trying to make her feel better in a time like this.
“Well, in that case, Seaweed brain, we should probably get off the floor,” she suggested.
Until she mentioned it, Percy hadn't registered they had been sitting on the floor of his room the entire time. Somehow, it felt like an appropriate place for the early morning confession, oddly intimate and undisturbed. But, his back didn't necessarily agree, stiff from sitting cross-legged on the floor for however long had passed. And if he was stiff even in his invincible skin, he knew it must be worse for Annabeth.
She slowly pushed herself up before offering a hand to him pulling him up with her. After urging him into his bed, she crawled in beside him and pulled him back into her arms, not quite ready to let go. Her fingers raked through his smooth locks almost habitually. It truly amazed her how easily things came with Percy. The repetitive motion satisfied her ADHD enough to let her mind kick into overdrive and process the last few hours.
Percy had been through more than she could even imagine, more than ever should have been asked of him. Being the key component in a Titan war couldn't be enough for the Fates. Suffering through four years of non-stop quests wasn't bad enough. Her sweet, caring boyfriend had to go through such a harsh mortal childhood to add to the already crushing pressures of being a demigod. Suddenly, her fingers stilled as another question came unbarring to mind. He called her name, nervous at how suddenly she tensed.
The girl spared a nervous glance to the hall before asking, “Did your mom know?”
“I think she suspected a time or two, but I never told her. Gabe said he'd kill her if I ever told anyone. I wasn't taking that chance.”
“I don't understand why she would let him stay if she even thought he might be hurting you,” she murmured, glancing nervously again toward the door.
Nothing about it made sense. Annabeth loved Sally, even wishing to have her as a mother or stepmother instead, and she knew the woman adored her son. Allowing Gabe to stay when he was hurting her son was something Annabeth couldn't rationalize with the Sally that made cookies whenever she came by and fussed over them both after every quest.
“She was protecting me from monsters,” Percy quietly explained. “Gabe, his smell-”
“Repelled monsters. It hid your scent,” she finished for him. “I've read about that. Some mortals are so monstrous themselves, their scent can actually repel monsters. That's how you stayed hidden for so long even as a big three kid.” The confused anger morphed into marvel at Sally's brilliance, protecting her son how she could. Even as terrible as it was, the abuse was likely the only thing that kept Percy alive all those years.
“He would hit her too,” he said in defense of his mom. “Broke her wrist once that I know of not that she'd tell me it was him. I only know of a few times, but I'm sure she got it worse since she had to always be here with him. I tried to get him to stop, but there wasn't much I could do when I was at boarding school. And once I knew I was a half-blood, knew how to defend myself. Well, she turned him into stone. Remember Medusa's head? Dad apparently returned to sender. ”
Suddenly Annabeth had a deeper appreciation for her boyfriend's mother. She always knew the woman was strong, but this was a different level of strength. Annabeth hoped one day to be half the woman Sally Jackson was.
As his breathing evened out, she pressed a kiss to his head and tried to detangled herself to go back to bed. As she slid her legs over the side of the bed, his arms wrapped around her painfully tight pulling her back.
“Stay with me” he whispered timidly. She hesitated though.
“Percy that was your mom's only rule for me,” she protested, but the sad, broken look undid her completely. And it would be well worth the lecture just for that bright smile he flashed her when she told him to move over. His head nestled into the hollow of her shoulder as she continued stroking his dark hair. He was asleep in no time with his arms wrapped around Annabeth securing him to this better time.
And when Sally found Annabeth curled protectively around her son the next morning, she didn't have the heart to scold them at breakfast for breaking her single house rule. After the events of the previous night, she was glad Percy had found someone so fiercely protective as his girlfriend. She didn't have to worry about her baby boy when Annabeth had his back.
Now, of course, that didn't stop Sally from teasing the pair when they emerged from his room later that morning holding hands.
