What's The Difference Between Spiritual Healing and Physical Healing?
Hi, friends. So if you don't follow @relentless-for-jesus, you should. Because she's super nice and kind and has an understanding of the Bible. Recently, she's been getting a lot of hate and people think she's preaching prosperity gospel. And that's just kind of not right.
Okay, so I'm not an expert on the Bible. I don't think any human will be an expert on the Bible. But there is some form of prosperity there. Now, just hear me out for a second. I'm not saying "posperity, prosperity, prosperity. Trust God and you'll het prosperity." That's not going to happen.
There will be times where God hands us little snit-bits of what it might look like, but He won't give us everything. Honestly, the chances of us being completely set on money and health and never having a problem with either is like 1 in 1,000 (just a random number, I'm not sure of the actual equation, but I think you can get what I mean).
Healing is real. In Jesus' time, He healed many. And today, with the power of God, many are healed daily. But how many of them were physically healed and how many were spiritually healed? That's today's question.
I think in many cases, we're spiritually healed more than physically healed.
But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.
Isaiah 53:5 CSB
---
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
James 5:16 CSB
---
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Psalms 147:3 CSB
Alright, so in these verses, I see them as spiritual healing (the last can be both, but focus on "brokenhearted"). Many verses have many different meanings. And I believe the idea of spiritual healing is part of this list.
These verses are talking about Jesus' wounds healing us, confessing our sins, and God healing the brokenhearted. These three verses have one thing in common: Our soul.
Jesus' blood was shed to help us be forgiven of our sins, which we should confess so we can no longer feel far from God and brokenhearted. (I get this might be a stretch, but you see where I'm going with this, right?)
Now, for physical healing.
The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
James 5:15 CSB
---
Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
James 5:14 CSB
---
Now Jesus began to go all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Matthew 4:23 CSB
Alright, so these verses obviously speak about physical healing, like sickness, brokenness, and so on.
A lot of people have a hard time believing that God will always heal. And honestly, I do too. Because I have seen many die from sickness. I've seen a few die from brokenness.
My grandpa died from cancer.
I had a friend die from cancer.
I had a friend die from a car accident days after the incident.
I'm just going to say this not because I don't believe or because I think it isn't possible, but I personally think that God won't save everyone.
Here's why:
Because God is using that person who is sick or broken to witness to others
Most people are saved when they witness the death of a loved one (that's how I was saved)
It's that person's time to leave this earth and go to our true home.
Or He sees His child hurting so much and with the idea of their time to leave, He brings that child home to a place where there is no pain and suffering. They ran their race.
God has such an intricate plan where one person is influencing and witnessing to a bunch of people and every single person being fed by that person is witnessing to a bunch of other people and so on.
Sometimes God says no. We could pray and pray and pray for that one person to be healed and sometimes God says "Okay" and other times He says, "Just wait and see what I'm doing here."
I'm not saying God refuses to heal people. But He has a plan. And we have to trust in His plan and say, "Okay, God. I'm leaving this to you."
We also hsve to remember that Satan is alive and He will do everything in his power to keep us from better.
I know some may agree and some may disagree, but if you have anything to say or add, please be nice. Show kindness.
God bless, friends!
