it's embarrassing how long i was standing there trying to figure out how to pronounce haute efficacité in spanish before i realized that haute efficacité is, in fact, french

#aka my second language #the language in which i am currently reading aloud every single word in the dictionary #it was actually the é that tipped me off. i was willing to believe that haute was a spanish word (why) but that accent got me #idk why though bc spanish can definitely accent the last vowel #and it was an acute accent aka the accent used in spanish #and there was only one accent in the word (rather than multiple accented letters) which is how accenting works in spanish #so really if i had bought into haute (again why did i buy into haute though) i don't see why the é should have tripped me up #i had already suspended disbelief so far and the é wasn't even that implausible #you guys would have loved to be present to hear me attempt to pronounce haute efficacité as though it was spanish #very comical #signs #my posts #spanish #french
